"“Out in the west Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl.” For many people, Marty Robbins’ classic gunfighter ballad is their first and sometimes only impression of Texas’ largest border city. They may be surprised to discover that the setting of the song, Rosa’s Cantina, is actually a real place. What’s more, this humble long-running bar may have inspired the song itself. The history of Rosa’s Cantina is shared with the neighborhood in which it resides. This part of El Paso is historically known as Smeltertown, and as the name suggests, it has a long industrial history. For more than 100 years beginning in the 1880s, ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company) ran a smelter nearby, producing metals such as lead, zinc, and most important, copper. Due to this industrial blight, the neighborhood around it remained mostly working class and tied to the nearby factories. Most residents in this part of town were and are of recent Mexican heritage. One such family was Roberto (Beto) and Anita Zubia. As with many people in early Smeltertown, Beto’s father was a smuggler and bootlegger, and he grew up in the area. In 1955, he bought an old building, then in operation as a bar called “Los Tigres.” He would run the cantina, and Anita became head chef. A few years later, Marty Robbins passed through town, and here is where the timeline gets murky. Was Rosa’s Cantina named in response to a hit song, or did Robbins take his inspiration from the bar’s name? For his part, Robbins always claimed the story was fully invented, saying, “I’ve never been able to find Rosa’s place myself.” In addition, El Paso’s official city directory doesn’t record the bar changing its name until 1961, two years after the song’s 1959 release. However, Beto always insisted that he changed the name of the bar in 1957, soon after he took it over, during a meeting with some friends and two sisters, Trini and Rosa. In this version of the story, Robbins, who always claimed to take inspiration for the song from the drive to El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, was likely driving into town on Doniphan Drive, which would have been the main road in those days before the arrival of the interstate. Seeing the name of the bar from the road, or perhaps even stopping by, “Rosa’s Cantina” would become his “cellar door,” an instantly beautiful sound, from which the tale of a lovelorn jealous gunslinger and his love Faleena would arise. Either way, the song was a smash, reaching #1 on both the U.S. Billboard Country and Pop charts, and both Rosa’s and Robbins would trade on its ubiquity for decades to come. Robbins would return to the scene of El Paso and Rosa’s Cantina once more, this time writing a prequel from Faleena’s perspective. And Beto and Anita would use the newfound fame to keep the bar at the edge of town running, with just enough notoriety to keep the lights on for their regulars, who would continue to come in even after the ASARCO smelter shut down in 1999. And that leads to the second great surprise of Rosa’s Cantina–not only does it exist, but it has resisted becoming a tourist trap. In many ways, it certainly feels and acts like a tourist trap–there’s a guestbook to sign, and lots of images of Marty Robbins on the walls, and many tourists do make the pilgrimage. However, on any given night, a lot of the clientele remains local, and as many people are there for the serviceable food, the karaoke, or especially the live music and dancing as are there for the legend. Although the new owners have renovated the bar, the exterior still retains the nondescript industrial character that it has had for decades. Over time, it’s become one of the oldest dive bars in El Paso, and in many ways, the bar’s own history has become the attraction, regardless of the veracity of its central legend. And if nighttime should find you at Rosa’s Cantina, rest assured, you’ll be enjoying an evening with the unique culture and atmosphere of Smeltertown. Know Before You Go Swing by on Wednesdays for karaoke and on Thursdays for a live mariachi band." - ianlefk

How can you resist going to the bar/restaurant made famous by a Marty Robbins tale of love and murder? Anyway, this was not a trip we will regret. The parking lot is a tiny dirt lot. But once inside, we were told by the first waitress to walk by us that we can sit wherever we'd like. Once we chose our table we were quickly welcomed by our server and she left us with some chips and salsa. Overall, the place was too full to comfortably take pictures of the whole room . Despite being busy, the service was fast. The food was not the best, but we've had much worse. I do like that don't skimp on the lettuce and tomatoes. I suspect that after a drink or two, the food would really hit the spot! They also sell t-shirts, hats, stickers and coasters. All in all, with the attentive service and t-shirts to commemorate the experience, we'll definitely be back. Not only will we be back, but we'll also be bringing our out of state family for a visit. This way they'll get to enjoy the food, history of how long the bar has been around and bragging rights of visiting the bar where Marty fell in love with a Mexican girl named Felina and killed for her.

I went to visit because of the Marty Robbins song, but loved it when I got there. It has a timeless look that makes it easy to see wicked Felina dancing and feel the amorous armor of the dashing Cowboy trying to win her Heart. I had the combo plate, but they had a meatloaf special so I took it to go.

Cute little place but left lots to be desired. There's a stage but no live music and it was 6pm. The food was no bueno at all. Not only was the meat overcooked and dry, but my enchiladas were ice cold. I could tell microwave was part of the equation. Outside was hot. Inside the food was cold. No fresh made tortillas and we are in el paso? Waitress forgot several items like plates and utensils when we asked. Had to go to bar to get them. I think she was the only waitress in the restaurant so it wasnt like she wasnt working... just seemed too much for her to handle. Please improve your food.

First time here, southern Texan trying an El Paso staple. The atmosphere is lively and fun! The only good thing about my experience there. The service was slow, but i figured it wouldn't take that long to get a waitress to just come and get our drink orders. Sadly, I was wrong. I came w/my brother and mom for a late dinner. They both ordered burgers after waiting a while to order food as well & I just wanted a simple bowl of caldo. I wasn't too hungry for a big entree. We waited a while for the food. Burgers finally came out, but my caldo never came. I waited even longer for something that should have been out in less than 10mins. I actually had to wave down another waiter to get help. He went to check for me, turns out they had forgotten my order. He had the audacity to tell me, it would be out in 2 mins. Obviously, that was a stupid response to give me. I waited EVEN longer than 2 minutes after he came to tell me that. After a long time waiting, my mom and brother had finished their burgers and I was still waiting for a simple bowl of caldo. The only reason I didn't even get charged for it was because I had to verbally tell them the obvious. I do not want it after waiting about an hour for it. I'm simply not interested in eating long after my the rest of my party has finished their meals & drinks. I wasn't interested in taking the caldo back to my hotel with me either. **The chili cheese burger was good but not appetizing to look at. There was way too much of the sauce drizzled on it that it soaked into the buns and fell apart upon picking it up. Either, serve the sauce on the side or ask how soaked in sauce does the customer want their burgers to be. **I thoroughly enjoyed my tropical coconut margarita. **limited menu with the main meat offered is ground beef.

Rosa's Cantina in El Paso is a gem! The friendly staff makes you feel right at home, and the food is outstanding—flavorful, authentic, and fresh. From their sizzling fajitas to the best enchiladas I've ever had, every bite is a delight. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for any occasion. Highly recommend this local favorite for a top-notch dining experience! 5 stars!

It did not disappoint. Rustic building. Just as Marty Robins described it. The atmosphere is full of laughter and music. Lovely bartender

Google
Thank you, Rosas! Thank you, El Paso! Thank you, Texas! We were with a European tour group at Rosas. The senior owner and his daughter personally welcomed us, almost as if we were part of the family. The service, the food, the people, and the very relaxed atmosphere all deserve a perfect score. This location is the epitome of Texan hospitality. If you want to experience authenticity in today’s fast-paced world, you should definitely visit Rosas. We came as guests and left as friends!

Google
My new favorite spot in El Paso, this place is really unique, a real Western Cantina. Food is good, beer is cold, and people are here to have a good time with friends. I was here on a Wednesday night and there was karaoke, a table of old school cowboys, a table of young friends on a night out, all singing their favorite songs and giving Rosas Cantina an atmosphere I've never seen before.

Noah K.

Yelp
If you're a Marty Robbin's fan passing through El Paso you must stop in. The historic cowboy vibes are definitely felt. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try much food, but the Mole did look fantastic. A few of their classic margaritas really hit the spot in the dry heat. Rosa's is quite generous with their pours if you go with the 'tall' version of any of their cocktails. Cheers!

Azariah H.

Yelp
Most of us are familiar with the song and if for whatever reason your travels take you to the remote town of El Paso, why then of course you need a destination point like the little Rosa's Cantina. Stop in not for food's sake but Marty's sake and check this little "hole in the wall" out. Food is rather disappointing (got the Tuesday 2 buck tacos) but alls well, it won't matter if you've got your normal business to do a glass of the local brew and just need to get by till your next flight home :) Cheers!

Marie G.

Yelp
This establishment is much more than a bar, it is an iconic business that is an El Paso landmark. The casual and delicious menu is wonderfully prepared. On various night during the week you can enjoy Karaoke and on the weekends- live music. The live music genres go from a fantastic mariachi band to great rock and pop bands. And don't forget to come in on Sunday after Church for some great lunch and watch your favorite sports teams on the several TVs. Let's keep our iconic businesses thriving and meet me there for food, drinks and dancing!

Frances C.

Yelp
This has become my favorite lunch spot, thanks to their mouthwatering shredded beef tacos. The flavors are simply outstanding, and the meat is always tender and perfectly seasoned. The service is quick and friendly, adding to the overall dining experience.

Yelp
Hands down this place gets a 5 star review!! Not only is it nostalgic for my generation, it's also simply a fun place with down to earth comfort food coming out of the kitchen! Service is wonderfully local, meaning each and every visitor is treated like a friend or family member. First time or tenth time, you're treated like family! Some folks may not appreciate that as it may come off as aloof but we love it and Felicia is now my best friend! The place is decorated just like I would expect an old cantina to be! Rustic! Marty Robbins on the wall and jukebox, checkered tablecloths and wood furniture. The food is Mexican comfort food! Nothing fancy, no glitter and no unnecessary stuff thrown all over the plate, just good solid food! The ground beef tacos are where it's at for me! All my life we've had what we call Farmer's Tacos (meat, potato, vegetable) and these tacos were them exactly! They were always that special birthday meal all of us picked on our birthday! Make sure to add this historic little spot to your bucket list and don't let the outside of the building scare you off!!

Robert L.

Yelp
Great spot to visit. The vibe is cool and low key. The salsa is really good. I enjoyed my green chile cheeseburger and my wife loved her tacos. The specials are a great deal ( 2$ tacos and Tecate). The service was friendly and the beer was cold.

Dan S.

Yelp
It's been a minute but this place was one of my favorites places for eating and libations! I love the atmosphere in this place, and noticed some remodeling work done. Anyways the place is still nice the beer is still served in giant mason jars and the beer is cold. My favorite meal is the chicken tacos plate. Usually the green sauce there is extremely hot but tasty. On this occasion the green sauce was ok. Next time I'm in El Paso will definitely, revisit this place again, for some good old memories!

Yelp
While out in the west Texas town of El Paso, I decided to grab some lunch (you thought I was going to break into song, huh?) Tired of the chain restaurants, I decided to hit up a local legend. I have made many trips to El Paso, but never had the time to give this place a shot. I honestly thought this place was a myth and did not exist. I hopped into my car and took a little drive. Rosa's is located located in what is referred to as Smeltertown, so the side of town it is in looks pretty rough. Furthermore, the exterior of Rosa's looks pretty sketchy. The construction on Doniphan also does not help for the appeal. Hopefully El Paso gets off their rears and finishes the road. Anyhow.. I digress.. Upon walking in Rosa's, the inside was a stark contrast from the outside. There were a lot of open tables, with a nice bar in the back. Lots of friendly faces around. Very welcoming environment. You have to seat yourself, so I took a seat and perused the menu. A nice young lady (is that you, Felina?) came over and took my drink order. I perused the menu while she went to grab my beverage. The menu had a lot of yummy food on there, most of it Mexican. Looking at the menu, Rosa's Mexican food was more New Mexico-ish, and probably more authentic. I am not a fan of that style and favor the Tex-Mex variety. So I opted for a cheeseburger and French fries. Also, to be fair, I was burnt out on Mexican food anyhow. My expectations were pretty low, but I was hoping for the best. I sat and patiently waited on my food. I enjoyed the music piping through the speakers and just sat and people watched. My waitress then returned shortly and brought me some chips and salsa. Looking at the menu, they usually charge for these, but my waitress was kind enough to bring me some on the house. The chips and salsa were great. I'm usually not a fan of green salsa, but this was tasty. In good time my burger and fries arrived. The presentation was as expected. I dove right in. The burger was tasty. However, it was dry. The cheese was minimal, and the buns were decent. The fries tasted like frozen fries, but I was slightly impressed. I liked the seasoning and the crunch when you bite into them. You can tell the burger is not one of their popular dishes, as it seemed not much effort was put into making it. I finished my food, walked to the back to purchase a shirt, and headed out. I was totally expecting to hear Marty Robbin's sing El Paso, but my timing must have been off. I am sure the staff get tired of hearing that song though. Would I recommend Rosa's? Yes. I would. I would not make a special trip to go here though. If I had it to do again, I would have just walked in, bought a shirt, and left, so I could say I had been to Rosa's. I would give the food a solid three stars. The service, atmosphere, history, and overall charm of this place bumps it up to four stars. If you are solely going to drink, I would probably give this place five stars, as the bar did look nice, and the crowd looked tame. I was not there to drink, so I cannot speak on that. Enjoy!

Yelp
Great little cantina. With obvious heritage and history. El Paseo song made a lot more sense, once I had my dinner here and visited the place and listened to the lyrics on iTune. Great service and decent Margaritas too. I will be back to try other items on their menu next time.

S N.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great food. Beer is super cold too. I recommend visiting this El Paso jewel.

Jim H.

Yelp
Honestly, a bucket list place for years and years! Finally I was able to get here! It met every expectation! The service was second to none (Claudia) and the food.... Simply the best Mexican I have ever had. I have the ability to get to El Paso often, and I can't wait to come back to Rosa's Cantina. Falina, wait for me!!

Charlene P.

Yelp
A fun to stop and take in a bit of history. Service was fast and food was good. Appreciate serving sizes being on the smaller size. Definitely recommend the chili rellenos. We loved that the waitress laughed about how often she hears El Paso. Sometimes 29 times in a Saturday!!!! She was lovely.

Rob O.

Yelp
I popped into Rosa's Cantina on Saturday night, 9/16/2023. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful, the food was absolutely wonderful, and the music by The Rockabilly Strangers was beyond absolutely wonderful. I had the Martha's Burrito, rice/beans/potatoes/shredded beef topped with a TO DIE FOR red chile sauce. I'll be eating this again, most likely real soon. And if you've never heard The Rockabilly Strangers, go to Facebook and follow them. They are an amazing band that plays everything from rockabilly, country, 50's rock and roll............you just never know what you will hear next. Great musicianship.

David F.

Yelp
Our experience at Rosa's Cantina, a famous El Paso restaurant and bar, was an adventure in itself. Serving up unique El Paso-style Mexican cuisine, the dishes were flavorful and authentic. Despite the busy servers, the atmosphere remained friendly and welcoming. Enjoying a beer with our meal on a hot day was a refreshing touch, adding to the overall experience of being at the border. Rosa's Cantina offers more than just food and drink--it's a culinary and cultural immersion not to be missed.

Michael C.

Yelp
Historic bar with driving to while listening to "El Paso". Friendly service, live music at night too.

G G.

Yelp
Defiantly recommend it, food is good, atmosphere is relaxed and customer service is fast and professional.

Diane L.

Yelp
Looks can be deceiving! Looks like a dive outside but very nice inside. The taco shells are freshly made, as are their chips. Everything was good and service was excellent. It was quiet the night we were there but most nights there is some form of entertainment.

Linda F.

Yelp
Food was terrific. Had the assorted Mexican plate and soup. The staff we friendly and very attentive.

Adam H.

Yelp
I'm totally about patronizing establishments that are legendary because of song. For example, several years ago I stopped in at Lee How Fook in Philadelphia's Chinatown where I opted for something other than a big bowl of beef chow mein. (Warren Zevon was actually singing about Lee How Fook in London; Philly is home to the only Lee How Fook in the U.S.) By all means, check my review of the place. Lee How Fook was delicious. Rosa's? Not so much. Still, I left happy. The food here is very much New Mexico style, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's presented hot and fresh ... but it's pretty much average, if not bland. Indeed, Rosa's offers a green house salsa with some bite, but that's all it has ... bite. Beer is cold here. Service is good. If I should ever return to this Mountain Time corner of the world, I'll just order a beer and listen to the rock music piped through the ceiling-mounted speakers.

Dustin M.

Yelp
An iconic spot of Marty Robbins fame with great molé! Great prices and nice people. Very clean inside.

Salinda P.

Yelp
Food is awful. Waitress is friendly and and music was fun with dancers but it was not a place to get Mexican food. Flat tasting tacos and chips with zero pazzaz So naaah. I don't think so.

Michael M.

Yelp
This was a must try restaurant during our winter break trip when we stayed in Las Cruces since this is not too far away in El Paso. She's a huge Marty Robbin's fan and bought some merch after we ate lunch. I forget exactly what we ordered but I had a gigantic burrito "Christmas style" (both red and green sauce), my girlfriend went with one of their burgers, and then we also got some cheese fries. Everything was delicious.

Jim A.

Yelp
Stopped in at Rosa's Cantina for lunch and a few drinks when in the west Texas town of El Paso. I didn't find a Mexican girl to fall in love with, but I did fall in love with the food, the drinks, and the staff and customers! The beer on tap is ice cold! Great for the hot summer day in the Texas heat. The bar is well stocked. The margaritas are most excellent. I had the three chicken taco plate, and my wife had the enchiladas. Both dishes were absolutely excellent. The enchiladas were the best I've tasted in all of my trip to the southwest, only second to my madres. The locals in the bar were some of the most friendliest people I've ever met. My wife and I did not want to leave, but we had to continue our trip. The bartender was very friendly and a true professional in his craft. This place is an absolutely must visit if you like Mexican food and cold beer.

Jeff H.

Yelp
I traveled all the way from Ohio just to eat here because of the Marty Robbins song, "El Paso." The atmosphere was great, though there weren't very many people there for karaoke night. The service was good and my Marty Robbins burger was exactly what I expected. I would definitely come here again. I even went up to the Sunland Park Mall to get a photo of Rosa's from top of a hill overlooking El Paso! You can see the Cantina sign from the hill.

Griselda L.

Yelp
Great service and lots of food options. We had the cantina nachos and the picadillo burrito very good but spicy. Looks like the place has been renewed and is very updated with nice bathrooms. There is lots of parking as well. Our waitress gave us free drink coins for next time.

Martha S.

Yelp
It's historical and a great atmosphere- probably one of the most signature things about El Paso. But, the food was just average and it was pretty heavy. My mother in law ordered the mango margarita and none of us liked it. I don't think it was made very well. I'm glad to say I went once since it's so historic and world-famous thanks to Marty Robbin's hit song 'El Paso' in 1959, but I wouldn't go back because I'm craving the food. But it's worth an experience to visit for the history!

John W.

Yelp
I Came because of the Marty Robbins song but I left impressed with the food. Loved the homemade salsa, chips and tortillas. Worth the time to visit if you like both types of music Country and Western.

Jamie B.

Yelp
Stopped in while on a road trip with my mom. We arrived in the early afternoon for cocktails and sat at the bar. The service was great, atmosphere was friendly, and the dedicated memorabilia to the Marty Robbins song was nice. Others around us were sharing apps and burgers, and everything that came out of the kitchen next to the bar looked fresh. A great addition to our road trip, for sure.

Melanie S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere here! The food was amazing and the waitresses were just as professional and friendly. I spent several hours hear eating, drinking and visiting with other customers while waiting for a plane. Just an over all great place to go!

Hugo Enrique R.

Yelp
Rosa's Cantina is not what it use to be after 21 years I was last there, I visited it today for lunch and was so disappointed ,after bragging to my family how great it was back in the day. First of all the waitress did not speak one word of Spanish and it all started there the food was Luke warm and portions are served on small plates and the green Chile was not very good, waitress never came back around to see if we needed more salsa or refills on our drinks and also forgot to bring my soup out! I will not be back and not recommend this place! I feel I can critique this place because I owned a Fine Dining establishment in Merced California so I know good Mexican food!

Ramona B.

Yelp
This was by far one of my top Mexican adventures on our road trip. The chili rellano was like nothing I've ever had. Not my favorite dish typically but I couldn't stop taking a bite from my husband's plate. And...I got a tshirt! Lol

Andrew A.

Yelp
It was a cool place to visit but I would not go back. Maybe because I travel and go places alone and this is certainly an environment where friends come to drink and hang out. I might have been the only person that didn't have a Harley Davidson branded piece of clothing or leather on. The wait staff took a while to do everything but I get it, it's hard to hire people right now and I'm sure the larger tables get priority over one guy sitting alone. The food was ok but not amazing. The nachos were more of a salad than nachos due to the large amounts of lettuce and tomatoes they pile on top of it. As I said cool place to visit but not something I would go out of the way to eat at again.

Belisa A.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriends first time at rosas (it was us and 4 other friends so 6) and it was what we expected. Good music, good prices for drinks/shots, clean bathrooms, very clean overall, the server didn't come around as often as we'd liked (the reason for only 4 stars) but good overall. We had wings and they were so good!! Very crispy. We wish parking was better, will be back though

john j.

Yelp
OK. I went to this place only because a band of mine used to do the tune. Turns out the tune may have been written before the place came into existence, at least with the name it now has. Nobody knows, for sure. It's a dive bar with an OK feel. Lots of bikers were there, older folks dancing to the band. Everyone seemed happy. The food gets two stars: Pretty average to below-average TexMex fare. The service was fast and friendly. Nice people. They got the extra star. It's in an out of the way, dark, side of the (being worked on) highway area. You probably wouldn't want to come here alone, and without GPS, if you're from out of town. I won't be back, but I'm glad I stopped by. I hear there actually is a bartender there named Felina, now. Cool.....

Kasventures S.

Yelp
This is pretty much something you have to do when in El Paso. If you are a fan of Marty Robbins, then you have heard of this place from his song "El Paso". He mentions Rosa's Cantina and so people always go here and request this song. Don't be shy, ask your waiter to play it for you.I have not had the food here, just drinks, and the prices were fair. Rosa's Cantina is a must do when in El Paso. For more on what to do when in El Paso, check out our blog. https://kasventures.org/2019/08/13/gems-of-el-paso/

Tiko J.

Yelp
Food was very disappointing. The guacamole and salsa lacked taste and definitely not made by your tia luz. The enchiladas where cheese rolled in a tortilla and smothered in somekind of hamburger sauce. Never had something like this. This place should only be a checkbox stop and not to eat. Have cold one and think about Marty Robins because the waitress i asked about Marty and the song didnt know what i was talking about. Its obvious this place is not being run by the original owners.

Alexis B.

Yelp
Unfortunately, Rosa's Cantina stops serving food at 7 on Sundays (we arrived at 7:30). But we were already there, so we decided to have a couple of beers while we figured out what we wanted for dinner since Plan A was out. Classic domestic, Texas, and Mexican beer selection, great service, good prices, great music, fun vibe. I wish we could have stayed longer but we were HUNGRY. Fun place to stop for a meal or drinks or some live music!

Gracie G.

Yelp
Had to go here because of its historic connection to the Marty Robbins song. Great food and well priced. Box ticked and happy. Will be back for sure and will get a t shirt for my dad all the way back in New Zealand.

Kenneth M.

Yelp
Reopened and rebounded after co-vid closure. Tacos are still the best in a taco loving city. The combo plate is very good although each item on it can be found better elsewhere. As a combo you won't go wrong. This is the quintessential biker bar and there's never a shortage of parked Harleys. Lunch is the best time to go as parking can get very crowded in the evenings.

Michael L.

Yelp
Cool old dive bar, made me wish I was still drinking! Big Marty Robins fan! Loved the history behind the song "El Paso". Got the T-shirt!

Theresa V.

Yelp
I mean, wow. The margaritas are soooooo good! I enjoyed the vibe, and the cheese dip is just so good! The soup they provide is like caldo de res, not bad. The salsa is super tasty!

Amanda B.

Yelp
We traveled to Texas from Indiana because my son will be having brain surgery in Austin. But before we go to Austin we had to stop in El Paso for another appointment. The only thing my son has asked to do was to go to Rosa's Cantina. I am so glad I took him. It is a pleasant little hole in the wall restaurant with great food at affordable pricing. Our server Ariana was extremely sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. She even volunteered to take a pic of my son and myself out front. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal and enjoyable atmosphere.

Roger D.

Yelp
Great customer service and friendly staff. First time there, I was very impressed. This place has a history, food was great.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Rumors of Rosa's Cantina closing is not true. The I-10 expansion project couldn't tear them down! El Paso has keep another claim to fame. Marty Robbin's was singing his praises! I have to admit I was worried El Paso would loose another part of it's history. A coalition from Tennessee that preserves the country music history even told them they would get involved if they needed help. All of this was told to us by the most friendliest, attentive server. Who served us up some yummy food. They are doing some big upgrades to this historic landmark. Refrigerated air, larger expanded paved parking lot, new comfy bar stools, and new coolers behind the bar to keep the beer extra cold, are a few of the well deserved upgrades. The menu is simple Mexican food and hamburgers. The hamburger are HUGE and delicious and such a great price. The Mexican food is yummy but on the heavier side. I love the chíle relleños stuffed Anaheim green peppers with a yummy flour tortilla to tear pinch and eat. They have live bands that are fun and great fun to the atmosphere. They have some great bar specials as well. Right off I-10 and you can buy some super cool T-shirts to brag to your fiends about the fun you had down in the west Texas town of El Paso.

Yelp
I was on the road from L.A. to Florida with my boyfriend and his dad and we needed a place to eat and just happened upon this place that was made famous by a hit song from decades past. It was still early in the pandemic and I was appalled to learn that the men's room was under construction so I would have to use a porta potty out in the dark. The waitress said, "There is a restroom inside for girls. I didn't know there were any girls here". I didn't care. I am totally a girl when it comes to need an actual restroom and a clean one. The restroom wasn't very clean, but at least it was better than using a porta potty out in the dark. The food was pretty good though.

Yelp
Great place, Owner was super nice and the staff was to. I'm a big Marty Robins fan so had to go by when I came out to see my daughter. Food was really good. Definitely coming back next time I'm in town.

Yelp
I love Marty Robbins so it was an awesome unplanned opportunity to go here! Because of all the construction, it took awhile to find it, but I'm so glad we did. Yes, I would describe it as a "dive bar" but the food was amazing and our waitress, Crystal, was really nice. I'll definitely come back for more. Oh! Did I mention the margaritas? Quite delicious and stout! Bring a DD with you if you plan on enjoying more than a couple. The food is great and I would describe it as a bit of Mexico fused with New Mexico. If you are up for hot chili then this is your place, but be warned that it is not for the faint of heart! The red and green chili burrito is delicious and HOT! Here's a bit about the history of the cantina. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/one-of-the-most-famous-ba_b_4416345

Yelp
What an awesome, infamous dive to grab some afternoon beer (draft is served in Mason jars!)! You can get a 32 oz Dos Equis draft for 7 bucks! Watch out for that salsa--it's hot and delicious!

Yelp
Flew from LAX to El Paso just to go to Rosa's Cantina, as my namesake, lol. A great little place. The staff was great. I loved being there and if ever back in El Paso will definitely be back here. Great Margaritas and beer. The food was pretty good too.

Yelp
The service and the beer is awesome! Talk about cold beer, you'll definitely find it here! We ordered chips and salsa...I'd say "pass" on that next visit! The chips had no flavor and were stale! The salsa was a green chile salsa and was very spicy and not tasty! Stick with a quick beer and enjoy a Marty Robbins tune while you are there!
