We stopped by Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles with the family, and it felt like one of those classic Southern comfort food spots you’ve heard about forever and finally get to experience. The place has a lively, casual vibe, with music playing, people celebrating birthdays, and a steady flow of guests coming in. It definitely gets busy, but that energy is part of the experience and makes it feel fun and familiar rather than chaotic.
I ordered the House of Chicken and Waffles, and that combo really is the star here. The chicken was hot, crispy, and surprisingly juicy inside, and the waffle had that perfect balance of fluffy and slightly crisp. Once the syrup hit the plate, it all came together in that sweet-and-savory way Roscoe’s is known for. We also added sides like mac and cheese, collard greens, and red beans and rice, which rounded out the meal and made it feel like a true comfort-food feast.
Service was a bit hit or miss, but overall friendly, and the staff kept things moving even with the crowd. This isn’t a quiet or polished dining experience, but that’s not what you come here for. Roscoe’s is about indulgent food, generous portions, and a lively atmosphere. If you’re craving classic chicken and waffles and don’t mind a busy dining room, it’s worth stopping by at least once.
