Want to support local businesses and farmers who work their butt off to provide organic vegetables and fruits, while also supporting pop-up shops owned by minorities or people of color? Rose Garden Farmers Market is DEFINITELY the place to be on Saturday mornings!

I was really excited to come on one of these particular days mainly because there was a collaboration going on with Hijau Coffee & Drae’s Lemonade. Hijau’s has been doing their own pop up for quite a while now, and while I was intrigued about small the farmer’s market was, it was probably a selection of people that had been present just for that day. The Rose Garden Farmer's Market has played a pivotal role in supporting local businesses all throughout the Santa Clara Valley, especially those who are farmers. This direct-to-consumer model enables farmers and artisans to receive immediate feedback, build loyal customer bases, and ultimately increase their profit margins. In my opinion, the market also fosters a sense of community, encouraging residents to invest in their local economy rather than large retail chains. As a result, vendors gain not only financial benefits but also the intangible support of community engagement and recognition. Moreover, the Rose Garden Farmer's Market has contributed to the sustainability and resilience of local agriculture by encouraging organic and environmentally friendly farming practices. Farmers are often more motivated to employ sustainable methods when they have a consistent and understanding customer base that values quality over quantity. The market's emphasis on local, fresh produce helps to shorten the supply chain, reducing carbon footprints associated with long-distance transportation. This commitment to eco-friendly practices enhances the appeal of the market, drawing conscientious consumers who want to make a positive impact with their purchases. Overall, the Rose Garden Farmer's Market has established itself as an indispensable resource for local farmers and businesses, driving economic growth and promoting sustainable practices within the community.

Google
Great Farmer's Market with a variety of vendors. The market is small maybe 20-30 vendors but all have great quality products. Lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, and fresh cooked food. Most of the vendors have vegan friendly options. This will be my go to option every Saturday for fresh, local produce.

Google
Great little farmers market open every Saturday. Getting there is very convenient -- a nice walk or bike ride if you live in the area or if you need to drive there is plenty of free adjacent parking. The booths are in the Lincoln High School parking lot on Dana Ave where there are large solar panels which provide shade. I've been getting my weekly supply of fruits and vegetables from this market since it started, very happy with the quality. I also always get some of the great hummus. It is unfortunate that dogs are not allowed to be in the area where food is being sold, but this is legal requirement for the market to operate in the city and not lose its license to operate. Dogs are welcome outside the food vending area, and there is a dog park at Lincoln High School too. We sometimes bring our dog, and one of us hangs out with the dog under the shade of one of the solar panels while the other shops.

Google
This farmer’s market is what our community needs!! Fresh, affordable, local and mostly organic produce at very affordable prices, knick-knacks and jewelry and plants and bike repair....it’s truly a gem in our backyard. I hope more people come to support this and that it continues to grow!!! Thank you so much to everyone who’s helped this come to life!!

Google
Small but mighty farmers market with veggies, fruit, Mediterranean snacks, coffee/ tamales, baked goods, like from California Bake Shop and food trucks, like Pre-Columbian Mexican Cuisine! In the Lincoln parking lot on Dana Ave.

Google
The Rose Garden is a great farmer’s market. I love to go here to get tacos. Although is a bit early for tacos, the ones from Eduing’s kitchen are the very best. Chicken are my fave, highly recommended. Also make sure to visit the colombian inspired foods booth. Delish salpicón and fruit salad. Fruit salad is big and filling.

Google
Very small selection, less than 20 vendors but great produce!

Google
Nice small farmers market. We love getting the fresh produce like strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. The kettle popcorn is a must for us! We also enjoy the fresh pasta from Pasta del Rey, the pork buns, guava coffee bread from Kieblers stand and the surf and turf burrito from Prehispánico Mexican taco truck!

Yelp
Even though it's not close to home,we come out to get Hijau coffee. I also like that it's dog friendly. I noticed lots of dogs each week. During the winter the produce is a little scarce. It's a lot better in the spring. Also don't forget to get some kettle corn. This guy always has a smile on his face.

Yelp
Very small farmers' market in the parking lot of a middle school. There is a decent variety of food stalls and booths, but surprisingly not much produce! There were maybe only 2 or 3 booths that actually had fruits and vegetables. Other booths had specialty items like vintage jewerly, steamed buns, pasta, coffee, pies, honey, and more! I HIGHLY recommend trying Pasta Rey for their gnocchi and ravioli! So many different varieties. Very affordable too. Definitely check out Greek Table for their hummus and pita! My favorite booth was definitely Pierogi Peddler. Excellent Russian dumplings :)

Yelp
Cute little farmers market in the Rose Garden neighborhood. The selection is a little small but you can get all that you need for fruits and vegetables and the occasional seafood vendor. The people are really friendly and helpful here. I also love the food stalls here, Super Tamales, Hijau and the pre-Hispanic Mexican food stalls are my favorites. It's easy to get a good brunch here if you have no plans on a Saturday.

Yelp
Too small, too few vendors, not enough fresh produce. It's mostly prepared food and stuff like handmade soap, honey, etc. It's a nice add-on activity when tacked on the end of a nice visit to the rose garden when that's in bloom, but I'd skip it otherwise.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided to stop by this certified farmer's market to see what they had to offer. I purchased Minnie & Mickey Cookies & Cream, Minnie Ghost Fruity Pebbles and Pineapple Dole Whip Macarons from Gees Macarons to share with a friend and their family we were visiting in the area. When you bite down into these delicious macarons, they're soft, not overly chewy or hard, like they were made fresh! My favorite of course was the fruity pebbles, it's my favorite cereal after all and the character design is so well done, Minnie Ghost FYI! Order these cute macarons @geesmacarons on Instagram and thank me later! I would highly recommend this local farmer's market, they had food trucks, fresh produce and lots of small local vendors as well! We are definitely looking forward to returning with hungry stomachs to try more of what they have to offer!

Yelp
On the way home from my daughter's ballet class, I saw multiple signs to a Farmers' Market! Woo hoo!!! It's been awhile. I'm still bummed they took the Japantown Farmers' Market away, so I was really excited to see one near my hood. I'm surprised this Rose Garden Farmers' Market has been here since May of last year! This is the smallest Farmers' Market everrrrr!!! Only five to six stands!!! I saw a bunch of other vendors in Yelp pics! Where were they? Was it because it was raining??? My first stop was the Medina Farms, I was giddy seeing three different kinds of berries. $13 for 3?!?! That is the most expensive berries I have ever paid for! I've paid $10 at most at the Downtown SJ's Farmers' Market! Then my daughter and I stopped by Mommy's Banh Mi for a pork belly Banh Mi. It was alright, but my partner in crime and I agreed we prefer the one at Lee's Sandwiches. It's only $5, too! My last stop was at the yummy caramel corn place. I got a sample of the granola and I wanted to buy it, but the caramel corn was cheaper so I got that instead. Besides, I didn't feel good about the berries I just bought. I told the vendors that I would be back next week. But thinking about my first experience, I don't really want to return. Maybe in the future I'll forget I ever came to this place and will end up visiting again.

Yelp
Underwhelming farmers market. I have heard of Rose Garden farmer's market and never been until today. Considering the area is filled with superb houses, I was expecting a full of organic everything and tons of stands. I am not sure if this is the normal ambiance there because of covid times or if it is so small, but it was disappointing and did not buy anything. Still, it was a perfect excuse for me to spend a couple of hours walking and wandering around the beautiful facades and manicured gardens. Location of this market is very nice which all the shade (covered parking) but I guess they will have to promote it more to get more vendors and attract more public.

Yelp
Nice family farmer's market. I come here with my two kids and we'd get what we need (today was strawberries and dumplings) and peace out. We'd go to the playground that's next to the farmer's market, also there's the library and beside the library, there's another playground and of course diagonal from the farmer's market block is the famous rose garden. We come to the rose garden and take out the dumplings we purchase from the farmers market and have a picnic. This farmer's market is very dog friendly as well, I feel like half the people that come here have dogs.

Yelp
This Farmer's Market had it's official opening on 12 May 2018. One major plus is that it has plenty of shade thanks to its location covered parking across from Lincoln High School. Locally grown fruits, vegetables, and lettuce, as well as arts and crafts and other products are al available here. Visit the market and buy locally grown items for your pantry. It is a great and healthy way to support our local farmers. Kudos to the city of San Jose, Shasta/ Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association and the San Jose Unified School District with working together on bringing a certified Farmer's Market to the neighborhood. It was great to be there on opening day and see people coming out for the neighborhood. There is not a lot of foot traffic in this area, even though it is next door to the Rose Garden Library . Hopefully the word will get out so this Farmer's Market will succeed. It is open every Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Yelp
Very small Farmer's Market. Not much variety. Although I must admit--- I was very happy with their parking space.

Yelp
Grand opening of the Rose Garden Farmers' Market was May 5th! Today, it was the second weekend. They have your local fruits and veggies, nuts, honey, juices, kettle corn, Mediterranean hummus, gluten free rice crispies, eggs, and organic chicken and the essential foods at a farmers market. They also had local vendors including jewelers, art work, glass blown crafts, soaps, paintings, and garden art. Some local community programs such as mothers clubs and community organizations were also present. They had music playing and chairs set out to relax. This is a growing farmers market, I can see it expanding each week! I look forward to seeing what it has to offer in the future!

Yelp
this is a great little market, just a couple of miles from downtown sj, in the rose garden district. there's plenty of free street parking on either side of the market, so you needn't walk far. i went to this market on a whim since i needed to get my weekly produce haul, but knew i wouldn't be able to make it back to the peninsula in time (most markets close around noon or 13.00 and i was down in sj for the morning). apparently, this is a "newish" market, so not too many folks here, but i also came at the tail end, about 30 or so min before closing. there were a handful of fruit, vegetable farmers as well as a kettle corn stand and a cashew milk/products stand...some things i don't normally see at my usual market. the good news is that most of the vendors were still there and had produce available, so i was able to get my carrots, cucumbers, and berries for the week. i also got a few samples while i was there from some of the prepared food vendors. i'd say prices were a little lower than what i'm accustomed to, but quality was about the same. i'd definitely return should i find myself in this area again on a saturday morning!

Yelp
We've really enjoyed walking to this farmer's market as part of our Saturday morning routine. This isn't a huge market (yet?) but there's enough stuff here to be worth visiting. There's always vendors selling fruits, berries and vegetables. There's a place that sells chicken, eggs and chicken stock/bones. There are some other places that sell fancy rice krispy treats and homemade jam. We like this market and hope it continues to grow.

Yelp
It's nice to have a farmers market in this area esp on saturdays. I wish it could be bigger but I noticed sj farmers market tend to be small. When we checked this out, there were one veggie stand, one fruit and a few others. Really needs more vendors and I hope this market gets bigger.

Yelp
It was cute, really small farmer's market. The Oaxacan food vendor made fresh tortillas. It was yums!

Whitney S.

Yelp
The guy selling berries is not following social distancing guidelines. He does not always wear his mask and he pressures customers to give him high fives and handshakes and even hugs and than makes you feel rude if you say no. He is a very nice guy and I feel a bit bad for writing this, but I go to the market every week and his behavior makes me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. If you are reading this and you are the market manager, could you please talk to him for me? I am far too shy to do so myself. other than that, it's a fantastic market and all the venders are great. I would highly recommend it

Samir D.

Yelp
Cute and quaint little neighborhood farmers market. There are vegan options Vegan Veganos and different produce vendors. Love the kombucha on tap from Soul Patch. Nice little stroll on Saturdays for some delicious food and groceries.

Yelp
3 years later and this local gem of a farmers market has really taken off. There are now multiple vendors and farmers offering locally grown vegetables and fruits as well as Honey, fresh fish, and crafts. There are also numerous food trucks that do a great lunchtime business. The vast majority are still masked and observing social distancing. Do yourself a favor and checkout the Rose Garden Farmers Market. Saturday's 9am to 1pm in the Lincoln High School parking lot at the intersection of Dana and Brooklyn Ave.

Yelp
Great little farmers market. There is a good selection of produce there. It's at a great space that has shade & parking. We keep going back!

Yelp
The market keeps growing and getting better! Definitely recommend supporting it. In addition to produce, they have fresh bread, cheese, poultry and a number of tasty food trucks and prepared food.

Roger L.

Yelp
Maybe 10 to 15 stalls of some pretty basic stuff. Got some veggies, some baked goods, honey, milk and creams, meats, kettle corn. There was a Chinese stall selling pork buns and other fillings. There were also 2 food trucks for Mexican and Vietnamese food I think

Ash K.

Yelp
Went here for the first time after moving into a home near by. There were only 3 vegetable shops, 1 Mexican food stall, 2 cookies/bakery stalls and 1 bicycle stall... Not really a market!

Kristina G.

Yelp
Very convenient farmers market with covered parking and a decent selection of vendors!

Chris L.

Yelp
This market is great! It's easily walkable, shaded (such a small thing that makes it so much better on hot days), and it has everything I needed to make multiple dishes for group gatherings. Everything is fresh, and the people are friendly. It's not like a large scale farmers market, and that's a huge plus to me!

Alex S.

Yelp
This market is in a great location near three public schools, a library & the Rose Garden. It has plenty of parking and the shade cover from the solar panels above keeps you cooler in the summer. I really like some of the vendors, including the rice krispy treat vendor and the hummus one. Right now, the blackberries are delicious; we've been buying 5 packs of them every week and eating them as a healthy dessert!

Scott V.

Yelp
Very happy with this farmer's market. It's obviously still small, but there's at least a handful of stalls carrying any in-season fruits and vegetables, and a few random others like honey, plants, desserts, etc. Definitely worth supporting now and hoping your support encourages more vendors later. As for the pet restrictions, it's against health code so they are never legally allowed at any farmer's market here unless a service animal.
