Rose Room at 220

Had a great time in the rose room after dinner! Great music, bartenders were friendly, and drinks were priced fairly. Looking forward to heading down the next time we’re out in Birmingham for dinner.

DJ is decent and that's about the only thing redeemable about this place. Bartenders have no idea what the hell they're doing added vodka to an Old Fashioned. It's ridiculous to have a $20 cover for a super small club like that and then have ridiculously overpriced drinks where the bartenders don't even know what they're doing. Plus, 20% gratuity automatically on all drinks is insane for a bar or club. This place needs to get their act together.

My birthday was a bust having my party here the DJ only catered to one group of people he didn't have to have rap music but for sure hip hop would have been nice there are a lot of culture based music that fits any race but he only played Katy Perry and Nicky mouse music pissed is a understatement not a birthday club just drinks after dinner and I had 40 peooole coming had to find sonewgere else to celebrate . African Americans go where your money is appreciated.

I went there with my wife for our anniversary and had a great time. The DJ was great and I liked their music.

What an amazing experience! I came out for my wife’s birthday and had a blast! I highly recommend bottle service! The manager Hass and server were attentive! Security was on every corner. Definitely dress to impress!

This place is amazing. Beautiful, cozy, good drinks, and outstanding music. DJ Eros did a great job with his birthday bash music. The drinks are a bit pricy, but I definitely recommend if you have a birthday or a special occasion.

Went to the Rose Room a few weekends ago. Best club in the area. Service was professional and friendly all night from security to the doorman to waitstaff. DJ was lit too. Special shout out to Stephanie and her staff for amazing VIP service throughout the night. If you reserve a VIP booth be sure to request Stephanie. You and your crew will feel like royalty all night long. Can't wait to come back soon.

Bachir is the literal best sever you will ever have!! absolutely love the food here and the experience!! 220 is the best brunch in town!!

I am not sure why I keep giving 220 Merrill chance after chance but this place just isn't worth the hype. Sure the ambiance is nice but the food misses the mark and the prices are not worth it. Our almost $30 salads were drowning in dressing and lacking in the uncharged protein. The coffee at brunch was undrinkable. Our server kept calling us "the ladies" like what do the ladies want to drink, what are the ladies celebrating. It was so very strange. Our server also seemed unknowledable about gluten free menu items and had to keep coming back to correct the information. The tables are literally jam packed on top of each other which has to be a servers nightmare and as a guest it felt intrusive. I think I am done giving them chances.

Located in the original Edison building, this location has gone through a lot of change from being a place where individuals could pay their bills and get items repaired to multiple restaurants. The history of the building is so cool! Make sure to look up the details! Since being a restaurant, this spot has gone through 3 renovations. I can't compare to the past, but this one is cute. Definitely a girlie vibe, but lots of dudes come here too. My husband sat in the bar so we could people watch. Great location by the window (table for 2) and views of the restaurant, patio, and the outside area. We started off with a couple of cocktails. For dinner, we ordered the salmon, short ribs, and the wild mushrooms. Good flavors and portion sizes. We weren't offered a dessert menu to peak at but we saw others indulging and they are giant. Definitely Instagramable desserts! I probably would have ordered one for a few bites and a lot of pictures. We came on a Friday night. They only take reservations for 3 or more people. We had no problem getting a seat!

Really impressed with the service here. Our waiter Shannon was outstanding and really took care of us. The food was great I really enjoyed the sirloin tips with garlic toast and banana fosters pancakes.

A must hit everytime we come into town. The ZipSauce is like no other in the whole state. We usually come in larger groups and order the menu to try it all out even though we already know we are gonna get our tastebuds blessed. Desert is always on point too.

Went here for Mother's Day brunch. The staff was dressed to impress. Everyone walking by and bringing anything to the table said "Happy Mother's Day" with smiles. Everyone made you feel welcomed and special. It looked lively and bright. We had the calamari appetizer. We had the Branzino and red velvet pancakes. The pancakes looked decadent. The branzino was amazing. I also had a Paloma and sei mei they were both great. I recommend the sei mei. When I go back I will be having it again with the branzino.

My friends and I visited here in warmer weather and we were able to sit out on the patio. It was cute and cozy! I started out with the oysters which were fresh and delicious. Sticking to the seafood theme, I went with the Birmingham salad, which had calamari, shrimp, avocado, and a light dressing. It was very filling! The waitstaff was friendly and helpful, and also knowledgeable about their menu, and able to accommodate my friend with a dairy allergy. I'd come back here again

Back "home" in the D for a quick 48 hours, I was able to squeeze in a visit with friends and we ended up here at 220 Merrill. It was this past Saturday evening, and my friend Sloan picked me up from the airport ... My flight landed DTW at 7:30 and we were at a table meeting our friends Ali and Evan for drinks / dinner at 220 Merrill by 8:30. Thanks to Ali and Evan for scoring the table in the bar for all of us! It was a cold evening, so I so appreciated the valet parking situation (and the one working heat lamp outside on the tail end) too! I was amazed with how crowded the place was considering the freezing cold weather and darkness outside! It was a fun ambiance with great energy but it was super loud... I couldn't hear half the conversation that Ali and Sloan were having right next to me and I don't think Evan could hear half of what I was saying either! Service was attentive... we had drinks pretty quickly and food shortly after. Everyone enjoyed the food they had including a Greek Salad, Steak, Truffle Fries, Oysters and Shrimp Cocktail. (Thanks Sloan for sharing those last three items with me... I needed some comfort food that night and our selections were perfect!). 220 Merrill has quite the history, so if you find yourself in the area seeking American cuisine and/or a full bar in an upscale, fun albeit a bit loud environment, check it out!

Wow!!! Amazing menu. Well seasoned. Wonderful champagne. Excellent service. Beautiful ambiance. 10/10 did not get dessert but want it next time. Will revisit. Look nice.

Haven't been here in a while as it wasn't that great the last time we went, tonight it was really good!! I've read some complaints on here about poor service but our waiter was AWESOME!! I wish I got his name to put on here but he was so attentive to us despite it being really busy, it was the best service we've had in as long as I can remember. We had the tuna tartare and calamari which were both excellent. I had the chicken parmigiana which was delicious. Moist chicken in a crispy crust served with a delicious pasta. Wonderful! My wife had the burger which she loved. We were too full to have dessert. I thought about giving 4 stars because the place was really loud, but that's not on them. Just lots of people conversing and having a great time. We will definitely be back!!

Service was great. Got seated right away. Love the decor and lighting. Started with the tuna tartare appetizer which was delicious. Mediterranean salad was pretty good but could be better -- needs more of the yummy beets. Short rib was amazing. Definitely coming back soon

This restaurant is little too extra for me with all the bougie people. It's fancy though and my waiter was very proper and cute. He was great with his suggestions and my friend who invited me here was happy with her food. I got a flatbread and asked for extra cheese because im addicted to cheese and it was so good. We also both got this drink and I wish I remembered what it was called (its been a couple months) but this drink was STRONG. We both only had one drink and we honestly had to sit at the restaurant for like an hour to let it wear off. The waiter had to tell us to go lol. I'm a lightweight but not like THAT. Next time I will get a mocktail instead and the flatbread again yummmm

I really enjoy 220 Merrill. Every time I go, I normally get the pasta, shrimp scampi, and I've also went for brunch. It's not overly pricey, it's pretty fair for the quality of the food and the ambience. It's a beautiful restaurant, the color scheme is gorgeous.

Started the night off rough at another nearby restaurant and in comes 220 Merrill to literally save the day and dinner. Thank you for being so accommodating and for the impeccable service from both the wait staff and host team. Food was delicious and really hit the spot. We ended up getting a few shareables for the table and it was perfect. Based on what we experienced tonight I would 100% recommend this restaurant twice over. Thanks again!

Oh man, wish I took photos of our entrees too, but we destroyed them. We got here during their happy hour menu, so we didn't have access to their lunch and dinner menus, which was a bummer. That said, everything we got hitttttt the spot. No complaints. From the happy hour menu, can't go wrong with the chicken wrap, burger meatballs, and fries.

Booked a reservation of 4 for my wife at 220 for Mother's Day brunch. We were seated right away. We were traveling with our toddler son and baby son who is 8 months. They were very accommodating to us to seat us in a location where we could fit his car seat comfortably. The service was fantastic. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. My toddler ordered the chicken fingers with fries which he liked. We ordered the banana foster pancakes for the table to share. They were massive and delicious. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi which she liked. I ordered the 220 western omelette which was fantastic. This is a very bougie vibe type of place so I don't know how often we will frequent but will keep in mind for future. I recommend you give it a try.

We came here for a friend's birthday. We ordered tuna tartare, truffle fries, truffle flat bread, and two salads. We also tried the spritz and two mock tails (watermelon was one) Ambiance is great, service was good, but the food was not very good. The tuna was my favorite appetizer.

Super pleased with my dining experience here! This was kind of a random choice for my friends and I but I'm glad we went out of the way to come here. They have a really nice outdoor dining area and it was great weather so overall it was really pleasant. Their drink options did all sound great but we weren't drinking during our meal. My friend and I split the half dozen oysters as an app and they asked if we would like west coast or east coast or mixed. We went with mixed and it was delicious! They serve it with dry ice for presentation purposes which is kind of cool. The oysters weren't grainy at all and tasted yummy. For my meal I had the Birmingham salad which was honestly one of the best salads I've had in a while. It was served with shrimp and calamari as the protein. The avocado really added a lot of substance to the salad as well. It comes with a Dijon vinaigrette. Actually SO delicious. I would eat this every single day if I could. The shrimp was marinated/seasoned perfectly and the calamari was breaded where it wasn't too heavy or greasy or anything. A great complement to the greens. Loved the Gorgonzola in it as well. It was pretty pricey overall but I guess that's what you are going to get at a fairly nice restaurant in Birmingham.

Delicious brunch yesterday for a baby shower. The ambiance and space are nice and bright. The servers were on top of things and very helpful. The waffles were so crispy and delicious. I found the Benedict to be too salty and I couldn't finish it but the smashed potatoes are really good

Went during Saturday brunch without a reservation and got seated right away. Great service overall. The food was delicious and priced fairly. There is also a good amount of cocktails and mocktails incase your group doesn't drink. We sat outside but went inside to wash our hands and the entire restaurant was really beautiful.

Really interesting place. Front room has a large bar and was packed. We were seated in next room that was large but was 2 rooms. Our waitress was busy but good. Started with the calamari that was good and tender. Everyone was happy with their meal. Lamb chops were cooked to proper temperature. Shrimp scampi was tasty and large. Pan roasted salmon was a hit. Really nice wine list!

Went for my birthday yesterday, food was delicious, made a reservation just in case bc I know they can get busy quick. Service was good! our server George was very nice. definitely gonna try to ask for a booth next time the chairs were not comfortable. drinks and desserts are so pretty! the place look is so beautiful, definitely be back again

If you're looking for a great brunch or Dinner Spot 220 on Merrill is your Place . They offer Indoor & Outdoor seating. It does get busy so I'd suggest making a reservation ahead of time . Service wS fast, and the ambiance is very relaxing. It's not too loud, and you can dress up or down coming here, you'll see a little bit of everything. The Food was delicious, cocktails as well. Prices are a bit high, but it's Birmingham so that's to be expected. I definitely recommend 220 !

I've had this place bookmarked for some time now. I only had takeout in the past. I celebrated my birthday here for brunch. It's nice in the inside. I had a party of five. We received good service. I enjoyed my breakfast I ate everything but the bread it was a little hard. The fuzzy bubbles drink was good. I'll have to come for their dinner. There is a park garage next to the restaurant that is free on the weekend.

Have come here several times for occasions and also work meetings. The interior is lovely with ample seating. It can definitely get very loud sometimes! Food wise there are lots of options, my friends love the Creekstone steaks. Most recently I opted for the Branzino which was done very well - would get this again! The potatoes it came with were also very crispy. My friend ordered the chicken Parmesan which was very good, and of course we all devoured the truffle fries! The fries are pretty pricey but at least a large portion - we comfortably shared among our whole group. Also love that they have several great mocktail options!

I will not go to 220 if Shanon is not there ! He is absolutely the best! ! Always makes our experience so enjoyable. Highly recommend this place with his service.

Had plans with a friend to get dinner. We asked some people for recommendations and a couple of people told us about this place. the atmosphere and outdoor seating area was very nice our waitress was amazing gave us time while we figured out what we wanted and checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal. We started with truffle fries for the table, they were delicious and were paired with some sort of aioli that topped it off to perfection. We then split a flat bread and salad. Neither one of us were fans of the salad, we both felt that the beets were overpowering in the dish and we couldn't taste anything else. The flatbread was very good! Doughy and crispy with the perfect flavors. It would be even better if they added some sort of a honey drizzle on top

Came for brunch with family and food was great but Shannon was amazing! Shannon provided top notch service from the moment we arrived until we left.

Everything on the menu tastes really good. Their service was quick, friendly and easy going. We made a reservation in advance, which is recommended as the place gets busy. Its a spacious room, and gets quite loud inside when full. Some dance music was played on the background. There is a large bar in the middle of the room and tables and couches on both sides. Menu has some really good options. We had to try shrimp scampi and beef pasta for the main course. Appetizers, spicy calamari , salads and soup were brought to the table in no time. Everything was fresh and delicious. And when it comes to dessert - Baked Alaska not only delicious but is huge. I mean really huge. Everything on the dessert menu comes in large portions so be ready for that. Overall great experience and well deserved 5 stars

The ambiance was great. The decor and the DJ are a nice touch. The service was also good. I gave the restaurant 3 stars because of the food. I ordered the filet and there was absolutely no seasoning on it. Not even salt. My friend ordered lamb medium and was served well done meat. The sides were ok. The standout food item was the "billionaire rice." Everything else was kind of bland.

I love this place and have come for years. Great food and service. Right in downtown Birmingham. Dress well; don't look like a sob. It's pricy.

Phenomenal dining experience! The atmosphere, the service and the food were all impeccable. It was so hard to choose anything from the menu, we had to split a few things to get a taste of everything! Can't wait to be back!

I had a reservation on Saturday night with my boyfriend and his dad. We walked in and were seated near the bar. It was extremely loud to the point where we couldn't have a conversation so I asked to be moved to the back room and it was much better. The restaurant was very modern and had a beautiful ambiance. Our server was very attentive. My favorite thing was the pear/Gouda/Brussels salad. Everything was cut up very small which I really appreciated; it cut the fibrousness of the Brussels and each bite had a good mix of all the ingredients. The short rib was very good but it was a little fatty for my liking. I liked the mashed potatoes but the veggies were missing something. The steak tip pappardelle was really good as well, the flavor was surprisingly sharp though. We finished with the tres leches cake, it was huge but probably still a little overpriced. The ice cream on top with cookie butter was the best part but I was expecting the cake to be a little more milky/moist.

Have frequented at 220 for almost 10 years now, and sad to say we haven't been going nearly as much anymore. Used to go to here at least once or twice a week with my friends and the service, the food, the ambiance, everything was basically perfect. I understand the overall vibe has changed, but I truly wish it went back to what it was. The food isn't anything special anymore, it used to be great to come in and find new seasonal items. I will say that the food is still good though, the desserts are great. My biggest issue is truly with the lack of quality service. Me and family used to rave about just how nice the staff was, but most of the people there now are nowhere near. They're just there to get you in and out. Could be there on a dead Tuesday evening or the busiest of Saturday evenings and it's just the same unfortunately. You can't even hold a quality conversation because of how loud the music gets pretty early on in the evening. Still a good restaurant but it is what it is.

I just had the most epic dining experience at 220 Merrill, and it's all thanks to the queen of waitresses, Mikayla! She was like a ninja - swift, stealthy, and always one step ahead of our needs. I'm pretty sure she has a sixth sense that alerts her when your drink is about to hit empty. Her smile could light up a room, and her laughter was infectious. We left feeling like we'd just made a new BFF. We're already planning our next visit, and you can bet your bottom dollar we'll be requesting Mikayla's section

I met up for brunch a few weeks ago with my friends at 220 Merrill restaurant. The restaurant was highly suggested from one of my friends, and she raved about the brunch menu, and wanted to celebrated her birthday here. She also stated that the restaurant had nice reviews. Once I glanced the menu, and looked at the reviews, I was down to go! So there was a group of seven of us. We are outside on the patio, which to no fault of the restaurant was horrible! There were bugs flying and crawling around everywhere. Some responsibility of common sense should've been placed with our party for dining outside, but I've dined outside at several restaurants, and never had such as big issue like this experience. Our waiter was nice, and initially I didn't think the wait time for our food for the entire party was bad. One of my friends and I ordered The Ultimate Brunch Burger. I ordered my burger well done, and my friend ordered her burger medium well. Well, when the food was served to us, I received the medium well burger, and my friend received the well done. So we sent our food back. We didn't hear from our waiter or receive our proper order until over 30 minutes after sending the food back. Which I felt was totally unacceptable. Then we had issues receiving condiments such as ketchup for the table, and refills for our sodas. And after eating the food, I can't say that I was totally impressed with the taste of the burger. The fries were good, but the burger tasted bland. So I was very disappointed! My other friends ordered their food and stated it was ok. But same as my experience, some food was bland to them as well, and we weren't satisfied with our experience. And, I forgot, initially I had a dirty cup of water when I first arrived, and had to ask for a new cup. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the customer service and food. I'm not sure if I would try this restaurant again. The menu items seemed interesting to come back and try something different, but I don't think I would be interested in going again.

I went to 220 Merrill with my mom, grandma, and a friend before a concert. We went at 4:30, and there were still not many empty tables. The food was good, but nothing particularly special. It does have a very nice, high end feel inside. It is a nice restaurant, but in my opinion not worth the price.

Had a wonderful evening celebrating my 1st wedding anniversary with my husband. All of our food was wonderfully prepared. We got the meatballs and duck spring rolls to start. They were incredible, the sauce for the spring rolls was so delicious that we set it to the side for the rest of the meal. My husband was given a huge glass of wine, recommended by the server. He was happy with it. I had the Mediterranean Salad with chicken added. My husband got the Chicken Parmigiana. Both were so incredibly delicious, I am excited to try to recreate the salad at home. We finished the night with crème brûlée cheesecake (we don't usually get dessert, but we were celebrating) and it was pretty much gone in a few minutes. It is pricey, but you get a good amount of quality food. We definitely will come back!

My server Karol recently was very unattentive and wasn't a pleasant server. Didn't listen to our needs and we spent a lot of money. Definitely won't be back if I have her again.

A group of us were here for a birthday with a reservation of 7 adults with an eleventh month old baby. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable, able to get the attention of a lively group with different tastes and personalities, and even told us a story about a mocktail she created! The birthday girl liked her mocktail :) The decor was nice, and modern ambiance, baby enjoyed all the mirrors haha Cons: food was not worth the price, nothing bad about it but also nothing special. We ordered a few appetizers for the group and they were also pretty good. Some of servers did not speak a word even when told "thank you", idk if this is a thing. When we were about to be seated, there were not enough chairs and tables for our group and had to ask to add another table and chairs, which was not a great start since it was a reservation and they were expecting us. We were also seated kind of right by the kitchen and felt in the way. There was more space on the giant blue booth and that would not have felt in the way but idk if that is reserved for anything specific. I had the butternut stuffed shells, which were unexpectedly spicy, more than I would prefer. I was looking forward to the old fashioned, but I've had better. You do get two cherries which is nice. My husband had the General Tso broccoli, which was too salty. Overall, this place is not bad, though the food is overpriced, and I would probably not come back for a special occasion, or maybe at all.

Everything about our lunch was good! The outdoor seating, the weather, the food, the service. I had a glass of Bellini (very good but I guess it's hard to screw up this one :) ) Salmon was excellent. Portion size just right, risotto that it came with - delicious, salmon was cooked just the way I asked! Many places over cook it but here it was exactly how I wanted it - blackened, medium. Wygue burger was also done right!!! The patty was cooked as requested and was juicy and flavorful. Truffle fries - must have

7/21/2024 Went to 220 Merrill this Sunday afternoon for a drink at the Bar. We waited to get our area in front of us clean 5 1/2 min. by bartender then bus boy had to come give us water. As the bartender was busy talking to the staff. when he did come over gave us the menu. Didn't ask how your doing or what would you like to drink. just tossed the menus in front of us and left. waited 6 min with no response so we got up and walked out. Went to another place, for our Sunday Fun Day. Not what we expected as we have been there before. And on top of this it wasn't busy inside / outside or at the bar...

This is one of those spots that thinks it's more than it is. The service is hit or miss. For example, when the bartender approached, I said a cheery "Hi! How are you?" His response was to put down to menus and walk away without comment. He didn't respond to any of our "thank yous" either. The price on the menu was $3 per drink less than we were charged. Food is decent.

I've been going to 220 Merrill for many years. Always an excellent restaurant experience. Consistently delicious food and an inviting ambience. Today our server was Dominic. Great service, great personality, and very professional. He always made sure we had what we needed, making our lunch a very pleasant experience.
