The Boston Area’s Best Bars For Memorial Day Chardonnay | Eater

"Rose Town does what Boston food does best, serving up American classics with a slight spin. Dishes like candied bacon and oyster mushroom pizza keep things interesting, and it doesn’t hurt that they donate a portion of proceeds to local foundations and charities. Pair the view overlooking the greenway with your glass of chardonnay and embrace those early-summer vibes." - Molly McDonough

My husband and I celebrated our wedding reception at Canopy Downtown Boston’s restaurant, The Rose, and it was everything we could have dreamed of! The staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect—the dancing space, open bar, and food were all incredible. The ambiance and space were truly one of a kind; there’s nothing like overlooking the Greenway and the North End of Boston. So many of our guests told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had! Everyone was dazzled but the location, too! Chef Gary is phenomenal. We asked if he could make arancini as an appetizer—a nod to our first date—even though it wasn’t on the menu, and he made it happen. They were such a special and delicious touch. Carol, the wedding coordinator, was attentive from nearly a year out and made the entire planning process so smooth. When she was unavailable, Jamie stepped in seamlessly and always with a smile. And Remy greeted us cheerfully every time we stopped by to review details. This team MADE OUR DAY. Without them and there work it simply wouldn’t have been the fantastic and flawless day it was. The whole team truly leads with servant hearts, filling the day with joy and kindness. We can’t recommend The Rose at Canopy Downtown Boston enough for the most magical wedding celebration!

We’ve had both dinner and breakfast multiple times at Rose Town Kitchen & Bar, and it’s been consistently excellent. The service is always warm, attentive, and professional—every visit has felt welcoming and relaxed. The dinner menu offers creative twists on classic dishes, and everything we’ve tried has been fresh and flavorful. Breakfast is equally enjoyable—great portions, quality ingredients, and served with care. The space itself is stylish yet cozy, perfect for both hotel guests and locals looking for a calm spot to enjoy a meal. Whether you’re starting your day or winding down your night, Rose Town is a hidden gem worth checking out. Highly recommend—especially if you’re staying at the Canopy Hilton or just exploring the North End!

Google
My friends and I had brunch at Rose Town. The food was very good. I ordered the BLT w/ egg. We shared Sweet Chili glazed wings, which were amazing. The drinks were well made. There were three small errors made with the orders that were quickly rectified, so, I won’t complain. The server was very sweet and attentive. The restaurant is designed beautifully. Would definitely recommend ❤️

Google
Decent avocado toast with a hint of spice for breakfast. Drip coffee was lukewarm and somewhat watered down. Table seating was full but the bar was open. Service was quick but they kept trying to give the plates to the wrong people. Ate here because I had a food credit with the hotel; there are better places for breakfast in the neighborhood.

As a local, this place is such a great addition — even being in the Canopy Hotel! The hotel is beautiful and this restaurant is delish. We come here on and off for meals and today was a great experience. Anna helped us decide what we wanted and was very hospitable and nice! We’re staying here for a few days so can’t wait to come back and experience more of the food and talk to the bartenders! 10/10 recommend!

Google
Had a great brunch at this spot inside a hotel. The atmosphere is surprisingly open and inviting. The food exceeded our expectations—beautifully presented and delicious. We ordered the wings, which were crispy, perfectly sauced, and juicy on the inside. Highly recommend! For our entrees, we had a build-your-own omelette, eggs Benedict, and a chicken sandwich—generous portions that left us feeling satisfied. Just a heads up, they serve brunch until 2pm, then reopen for dinner around 4-5pm. It's a trendy, stylish place perfect for a fun outing with friends or a casual date night.

Google
This is a great place with food and tapas. It gets full during the rush hours and you see the crowd of local business people standing and getting a drink a food to go. Prices are OK for Boston. Location is perfect, close to the old town and not too far from the Italian district.

Google
Had a wonderful meal! Love the interior and the location is right by hotspots like the North End and Faneuil Hall. What we ordered: buffalo chicken pizza, meatball parmigiana, cranberry feta salad, short rib shiitake pappardelle (favorite!), wagyu smash burger. Asked for fruity mocktails and those were tasty too. The service from Heather was great!

Yelp
Food was amazing and honestly the price of the food and the food itself was worth every penny. The wait staff is calm, cool, and collect and are generally nice to you. The ambiance is that of a high end variety and a great spot in the North End. We will most definitely return to this location.

Yelp
They did a great job with the new hotel. Being from the neighborhood, I can say it hasn't always been this welcoming. My wife, son and I stopped in for a quick bite before heading home. No big deal, for a five yr. old, he's easy and my wife doesn't each much. Me, I'm always hungry. Walked in around 4pm and got a table no problem. We sat in the lounge area in front of the bar with a view of the Greenway. Wife's happy and our son is comfortable and he wasn't going to interrupt anyone. Server was cordial, typical interaction. I don't drink so I ordered a coke for myself and a glass of champagne for my wife. We also put in our 1st course of food which for my wife was a Panzanella salad and for me the classic Cesar salad. This is where we seem to have had a disconnect with everything. The Coke was diet. Really not a fan. Had to send it back for another. The Cesar salad was missing the star ingredient, Cesar dressing. Had to send it back to be dressed. I ordered a "smash-burger" as well. Someone should hire the Ex. Chef from Chilis, see if he'll show someone how to make an actual smash-burger. I'm not going to get anymore into specifics but for a $225 for lunch, I will say this. If you're going to charge at the higher tier of dining, the experience as an entirety really needs to be on point. Not the experience we had at all.

Yelp
Breakfast was horrible. Omelette soaked in grease. Butter or canola oil was sloshing all over the plate. Server poor memory and not attentive. Manager never came over to ask how things were when we told the guy server it was grosse. Nigh time server (a lady) wonderful. Smash burger pretty good. Cobb salad terrible. Chicken is cheap marinated Sysco rubbery.

Yelp
Found on Google and had good reviews so stopped in for brunch and sat at the bar...it was delicious and Ilda was such a great bartender and I highly recommend!

Yelp
Zero is not an option. We landed in Boston late after a long day of travel. We were staying at the hotel and the hotel gave us a credit to use at their restaurant. Since we were only in town for the night it seemed like a convenient option for dinner. The restaurant was not crowded with less than ten people dinning with six at the bar. Essentially we were one of two parties of two seated for dinner. Service was slow. Food was worse. Shrimp scampi pasta had good flavor but more pasta than shrimp. The lobster roll was laughable for Boston and beyond disappointing for a first time in Boston known for lobster. The lobster looked ground up with the dry remnants of last week's lobster. The lobster roll with ground dry lobster no sauce or butter ruined the appetite for anything further on the menu but thought the signature canoli might help. I was wrong, the filling was gritty and grainy, and overly sweet with a soggy shell. We expected more for a hotel restaurant (I have dined at dozens over the years) given the premium hotel price (over $500 a night) for peak travel season. Now I know why the hotel needed to give credit for a meal at their restaurant. Very disappointing and still a two hundred dollar bill. Meal was not photo worthy.

Yelp
Food was delicious...but the service was not good. They were VERY understaffed. 3 people taking care of a breakfast crowd...they needed 2-3 more people. Our waiter was a nervous wreck. Was very uncomfortable. However, the food was DELICIOUS!

Sarah C.

Yelp
Rose Town Kitchen exceeded our expectations, we happened upon the location through Yelp and couldn't be happier with our experience. My husband ordered the meatball starter and it was not only delicious but it was enough to be a meal! The Buttery Herb Crusted Cod was amazing!! We were also very pleased with our server Andrea, she was attentive and very kind. Such good food and wonderful service - I highly recommend Rose Town Kitchen

Vincent J.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Food was good overall. Eggs Benedict was slightly overcooked. Pancakes were okay.

Yelp
We waited 15 minutes for a waiter to even come to our table. We ordered right away, but then we waited another hour and 15 minutes for the food to show up -- except that it was only half of the food and we had to wait another 10 minutes for the rest of the food. All the food was lukewarm when it arrived and it was all pretty mediocre. They never refilled our water once the entire time we were there, which was almost 2 hours. They kind of just ignored our table the whole time and even when we would go find people and ask for things (like when we had a spilll of water and needed napkins), they would find ways to ignore us. We even spoke to the manager, but neither she nor the waiters ever acknowledged that anything was wrong, let alone apologized. I don't know how this place is in business.
google avatar

Savannah H.

Yelp
Very nice to go for a little drink date with apps. Wouldn't do more than that. It's often awkwardly during peak hours but the bar is gorg and the service is nice. The food is average but pretty nice wine!
google avatar

Andilee J.

Yelp
The service was far beyond anything we could have anticipated. My friend is gluten intolerant and dairy free; the chef came out and asked a few questions and then prepared a meal within the dietary restrictions that was amazing. Eggs Benedict was awesome, and the hollandaise was definitely prepared in house. The potatoes were done perfectly as well. The restaurant boasts mid-century modern vibes, and is done well. Quiet and cozy vibes with nice views and morning light.

Yelp
Loved the decor! This is the hotel restaurant for the Canopy. I went there after I had checked out at 11am. A hostess greeted me and said they were serving brunch and to sit anywhere. There were maybe 6 tables of ppl; most of the restaurant was empty. After 20 mins of sitting, no one came to serve me. So I went to the hostess and she said yes someone will be out then she came back and gave me a menu !! I hadn't even noticed I didn't have one. Needless to say, no one came over because I left. A couple came in after me and got serviced before I did. Kinda annoying. If you are going to have people sit anywhere, the hostess still needs to keep track of tables so the service staff knows. Seemed like a lack of communication. Other than that, the cleanliness of the room could have been better: crumbs on the seats, sticky surfaces. They have a bar along the window where you can sit and look out and I noticed something reminiscent of bird poop on the ledge of the window.

Yelp
The Rose is a decent place to get some food and a drink if staying at the Hilton Canopy. The food is decent but expect to pay hotel restaurant / bar prices.
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
Solid breakfast offerings with fine service from the restaurant within Hilton Canopy. Attempting to rival the food Mecca that is the north end (literally across the street from the hotel), is a feat for any restaurant in the area. That being said, if you're staying at the Hilton Canopy, I can definitely recommend their breakfast options! The lobster omelette does not hold back on the crustacean filling and the smoked salmon sandwich is loaded as well. Our attempt at dinner when we arrived late Friday night, however, was unimpressive and stupid expensive (cheese plate, olive appetizer, + two glasses of wine for $100 w/ tip?! I know I'm on the east coast, but the portions were embarassing). IMO, if you don't get free credits ($18 per day for Hilton Diamond status), breakfast tickets, or "chef's choice" coupon, my fellow Yelpers, you can do better with pretty much any venue around this area.
google avatar

Carlotta C.

Yelp
This was a pleasant surprise! This restaurant is hidden in plain sight between north end and haymarket. It's clean, new and has a fresh yet manicured feel. Our waiter was super nice and patient with all of our questions. I ordered the buffalo chicken pizza which was decadent and delicious. All other dishes were amazing. Priced right.

Isabelle S.

Yelp
Horrible wait times. Unfriendly service. This place has so little staff (or lack of process) and can't turn around tables. A lot of empty tables in the restaurant and still many parties (of 2) having to wait to be seated. When seated it's another round of being ignored.

Yelp
We stayed at the Canopy Hotel by Hilton in Boston. The Rose Town Kitchen is on the 2nd floor. Very nice modern restaurant with a view of the park, and excellent staff. The food and servers are excellent. We had a Wagyu Burger, and a Butter and Herbed Cod, with wine and beer for dinner. For breakfast we had Eggs Benedict, and Two Eggs over easy with sausage. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The restaurant hours need updating; in Yelp the breakfast hours are not shown.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
A delicious meal with great service, delicious food and high quality cocktails. The fully retractable windows offer a great atmosphere with the fresh air. The general manager Remy was incredibly attentive and easy to talk to. I highly recommend this place!

Walter K.

Yelp
Relaxing fun atmosphere. Large tables. Tim, the Matre d', ensured a seamless experience for the 8 of us. All dishes were enjoyable. 3 had Crunchy Grilled Cheese w/tomato soup.

Yelp
Stayed at the canopy Hotel where the Rose exists Very nice people that work here, but unfortunately the kitchen is just very dysfunctional. The restaurant had about 15 tables total of the time we were leaving our breakfast and they managed to mess up about half of the orders. Don't expect that for any restaurant but especially one that charges the extreme prices that these guys do On a separate note, been here a couple times through my stay during the evening and the bar and bar service was always excellent
google avatar

Momina B.

Yelp
Stayed at the Canopy hotel and decided to try them for breakfast. They had a decent menu and photos online looked great but the food was very underwhelming. The yogurt parfait was very sour, the omelette was very salty, and the freshly squeezed orange juice was so bitter. The service was quick though.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
Gorgeous restaurant and lounge. It's huge! Only had drinks and they made a side of salmon on two occasions for our dog. Good drink/wine/draft selections. Beautiful window seating overlooking the Greenway.
google avatar

Ashlee A.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel and was so shocked that this restaurant was so good. Sometimes hotel restaurants are hit or miss. This is a hit. Ate here twice. First time got the burger the salad was so good that came with it. The burger was so delicious too! But that salad was a huge hit. 11/10 on the whole dish. Second night got the lobster Mac and cheese was so shocked how much I loved this. The sauce was the best thing! Big fan! 10/10. Will definitely come here without staying at the hotel.

Yelp
I was ready to give this place 5 stars based on the ambiance alone-- it's situated on the second floor of a hotel with the cutest seating and wide open windows next to which you can sit on bar stools and look out over Rose Kennedy Greenway. When I sat down I was given a menu and asked if I wanted a water and a coffee, which I think is just such a perfect question for brunch. Food and drinks were really good. I would highly recommend the buttermilk pancakes-- I got blueberry and they were phenomenal. The Hilton Shake was amazing-- a great pick-me-up for brunch. Service was a 2.5/5. Our servers were very friendly most of the time, but the food took so long to come out. The salt rim of partner's Bloody Mary was all melted when he got it, indicating that it had just been sitting at the bar instead of being delivered to us. When we asked for boxes, it took a long time for them to be delivered - at one time during this I saw our server at the bar not doing anything. I wished that the manager on duty would have noticed that we were clearly waiting and trying to make eye contact with our servers so she could fill in the gap. There were almost more people working than there were tables so there really was no reason for the slow service. I just find that hotel restaurants tend not to have the same sense of urgency that other restaurants have, so I can't say I'm hugely surprised with the poor service but it definitely dragged down our experience (total brunch time was 2.5 hours - mostly because of waiting). Probably wouldn't return and play Russian Roulette with my time as there are so many good dining options in Boston.

Yelp
We were exhausted from driving on a Friday night. Newsflash..The restaurants in Boston close around 10 even on weekends. And if you don't have a reservation, it's very difficult. So we chose the hotel food for convenience and it was empty. Of course, that Should have been a clue. It was expensive, not as ordered and bland. The bar was sold out of so many beers. We took what was available. The picture below is their 40 clove garlic chicken which did not have that garlic taste. Perhaps it was all in the skin that I did not eat? You get a small breast and thigh. Then you get a salad with some weird dressing that is not disclosed. And they skipped the fries. The waiter realized the mistake when I took pics of the menu, but by then I was done with what I cared to eat. The staff is friendly, but the dinner is just a convenient waste of money. With so many options nearby, we did not return.
google avatar

David E.

Yelp
The food is decent and ambience is fine but it overpriced for what it is. You find that you enjoyed the experience more than the food.
google avatar

Ren S.

Yelp
How to find: inside the hotel, up the stairs This place is pretty much just a hotel restaurant, best thing about it is the view honestly. The billing can be confusing if you're not a guest at the hotel, make sure to tell staff if you're not staying with them or they will give you the wrong bill form. Coffee is a blonde roast in massive cups. The breakfast pizza was interesting, but basically just a pizza with some oily fried eggs on top. I still ate more than half of it though! We also got the crepes and pancakes. Blueberry pancakes made with frozen blueberries of course but the pancakes themselves were delicious! Crepes were mostly nutella.
google avatar

Laurie M.

Yelp
A must stop if a local or tourist. Never disappoints after work, or weekend brunch. Delicious food, signature cocktails, and amazing view of the Greenway. Thank You.

Michael M.

Yelp
Very unclear where they are getting positive reviews from. The prices are very high for what you get. The pizzas were very basic, flavorless - way too mucb cheese. The mushroom tagliatelle dish was horrible. It was advertised as having short rib but there was only a small amount of it which had been integrated into a sickly cream sauce. The service was extremely average - absolutely no effort put in to make the experience enjoyable, very inattentive and careless attitude. The quality of the food was more akin to an eatery in a run down train station. Avoid this place unless you have no other options.
google avatar

Liz K.

Yelp
Food was unexpectedly really good for breakfast. I got the corn beef hash and my partner got the lox with everything bagel. Coffee was freshly brewed. Servers were very nice and attentive.
google avatar

Suzanne L.

Yelp
Surprisingly delicious breakfast and bar inside the Canopy Hotel. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. Eggs Benedict with béarnaise was fantastic. My family loved their dishes- my son had the shakshuka, my daughter the Nutella crepes, and hubs the Croque Madame. We also had drinks and snacks there later in the day. The raclette was more a veggie and ham plate with bechamel-like sauce, not raclette cheese. The fries were a hit. Airy and open atmosphere with big windows directly overlooking the greenway and Hanover St in the North End of Boston. As a brand new hotel and restaurant, we had some hiccups that were addressed promptly. We'll be back for another lovely breakfast!

Chris G.

Yelp
I walked to this restaurant (part of the hotel) based on yelp reviews. What a waste. While the staff were all very pleasant, quick and helpful, I was left disappointed with the overpriced menu options. $25 for an omelet including meat. No option to order without meat. Oatmeal made with water from a mix. Eh. I should have just eaten at my hotel (Boston Millenium North 26) with the rest of my crew. Their meals were less expensive and looked much better. Lesson learned for next time
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
The food and service was fabulous! Sergio was so attentive, and never had to wait more than 10 seconds for a refill. Hubby and both had the lobster Mac and cheese, which was Sergio's choice, and I should add a great one! We loved every minute of our dining experience! Thank you Sergio!!!

Estefanie W.

Yelp
Got take out for dinner. Bartender takes the order. Not great service. Good food. Had breakfast there. Excellent breakfast. Service "meh"

Sue B.

Yelp
The best morning meal and Happy Hour you will have during your travels! Staff are fantastic! Congratulations Hilton on a successful place to rest during our adventures!
google avatar

Jaxon D.

Yelp
The food was incredible! I ordered the Two Eggs, and it came with 4 pieces of toast, sausage, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and of course two eggs of your choice. It was a phenomenal breakfast.

Tiffany K.

Yelp
Had a quick breakfast while staying at the hotel. The potatoes and chicken sausage is great. The coffee was good and the service was friendly. Prices are what you expect for a hotel. Nice views.

Cate M.

Yelp
A hidden gem! Had our first dining experience here for Mother's Day brunch and highly recommend it. The food was outstanding- we had a party of 6 and everyone loved their meal. I had the corned beef hash and it truly was the best I have ever had. The rest of the party raved about the pancakes, garlic roast beef sandwich, breakfast pizza and shakshuka. Compliments to the chef! The cocktails were also outstanding. The waitress was super friendly, knew the menu well and was attentive to our table. Overall, a great place to enjoy a meal while overlooking the heart of downtown Boston! Can't wait to go back.

Ashley M.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast. The blueberry pancakes are delicious. They use fresh blueberries. Also, warm maple syrup is such a nice touch. Nice place to stop by if you are in the area.

Olivia D.

Yelp
Staff here were so friendly. Great vibes. Food and drinks were both amazing. We came for brunch, the eggs Benedict was wonderful!

michaela g.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel this restaurant is in and had a wonderful dinner and breakfast. The food is delicious with a good mix of classics and new combos to choose from. Special shout-out to our server Reanna-- she was a wonderful server. Very attentive, sweet, and accommodating. 10/10!

J E.

Yelp
Incredibly good and unexpected. Staying at hotel and ate here a few nights and find the food and service exceptional. I would come dine here again even if not staying at hotel.
