This is an eclectic restaurant with great food and service. They have indoor , outdoor and bar seating. The vibe is very casual and welcoming. The chef came out and went to several tables asking how the food was. For me that shows their love for what they do and makes for a great experience. I have been wanting to come here to try the pimento cheese sandwich and didn’t know it was only on the lunch menu and not the dinner menu. They made it for me anyway which is above and beyond what they needed to do and truly appreciated. It was worth the wait. The bread was crunchy and golden brown and the cheese was delicious. Came with chips that were also very good. The fried cauliflower was totally unexpected. Crunchy on the outside cooked to perfection on the inside with a nice heat from the jelly and creamy relief from the sauce on the bottom. I would go back again just for this. The beet salad also very good. Refreshing and just the right amount of blue cheese that was in very small pieces so it added a great tang to every bite but was not overpowering the other flavors. The duck pastrami sandwich is also a must try and probably can’t find it anywhere else. I have to try grits when they are in any menu, these were very good, nicely seasoned and had a bite to them. The chocolate cream cheese turnover was rich but the best part was the flaky crunchy pastry. Lemon buttermilk cheesecake also a nice dessert. The tang of the lemon gives relief to an otherwise rich dessert and it was extremely creamy. I will definitely return to try several other options on the menu.

Yummy dishes..we enjoyed a variety. Delicious cocktails..recommend trying the nutty professor! Our starters were fried cauliflower, which was perfect! We also had the Taramasalata. It was a Greek fish roe dip served with tortilla chips. It was good and also flavored with lemon. The turtle soup was good and unique. We added the traditional sherry to our soup. It had delicate tiny spinach dumplings with a darker rich broth. Really good! Our group enjoyed the speciality fish, which was Drum. Other entrees enjoyed were the meatloaf sandwich, the hamburger, the fried chicken. All unique takes on these meals…no leftovers! Highly recommend this tiny restaurant in a cute little house. We will return!

Google
We started with the chicken liver pâté, which was delicious. For entrees, the fried chicken was absolutely fabulous – crispy, juicy, and perfectly paired with the mac 'n' cheese, smothered greens, and that addictive Tabasco honey. Also tried the daily special, a meat dish with brussels sprouts and rice, which was equally well-executed. A couple of pre-dinner cocktails were also excellent. I'd happily order the fried chicken again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend Rosedale, and I'll definitely be back!

Google
A bit disappointed …. excellent atmosphere but waited too long for eggs, toast, grits and bacon. Eggs were undercooked 🤢😢

Google
Lunch was delicious. The Biurbon Fried Chicken Thighs were sooooo light and delicious for being fried- the sauce is perfectly seasoned and the flavor goes great with the greens and the Mac and Cheese. The BBQ shrimp were also delicious from the one that I tried. Reservations are always recommended but some miss this gem hidden away.

Google
My wife and I had a wonderful meal and experience at Rosedale Restaurant, near Lakeview and Mid City. The menu is an interesting combination of New Orleans favorites served in unique and delicious ways. The building is an old police district which has been tasteful repurposed. The service was great and the atmosphere was fun. We will be back.

Google
Quaint restaurant set in a former house, definitely off the beaten path. The menu was very interesting. The food selection is built around typically Southern dishes. The portions are generous. The flavor was just OK though. A bit underwhelming, not typical of the dishes we ordered. The prices are quite high considering what you're being served. Dessert was also underwhelming. Great beer and wine selection and the service was excellent. Overall it was a pleasant experience but we were slightly disappointed by the food.

Google
Hidden gem!! Excellent choice of unique dishes along with a superb selection of wines and other drinks. Dine inside or out on the patio. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive to your needs!!

Yelp
Rosedale 801 Rosedale Drive, New Orleans, LA 70124 My good friend and I found this hidden gem tucked away in a neighborhood between Midcity and Lakeview by coincidence. We can definitely state that it was worth discovering! Everything, and I mean everything, was WOW! 1. Chicken Liver Paté with Pickles & Mustard. (Favorite) 2. Duck Pastrami Sandwich with Pickled Red Cabbage, Russian Dressing plus Chips. 3. Rosedale Burger with Griddled Onions, Lettuce, and Pickle on a Brioche. (Favorite) #Tonylameats #foodie #foodadventure#rosedalenola #neworleansla #midcitynola #lakeviewneworleans

Yelp
A great restaurant tucked away in an adorable historic mid-city building. The staff are all very kind and knowledgeable, as is Susan Spicer herself (the one behind the whole operation!). I absolutely love love LOVE the duck pastrami sandwich, BBQ shrimp, cochon de lait poboy, fried cauliflower.... I could go on! There is always a lovely selection of local beers and tasty wines available to order as well. Do yourself a favor and go treat yourself to a meal at Rosedale!

Yelp
From the slightly spicy, slightly sweet fried chicken thighs to the whipped and creamy taramasalata dip, everything from this hidden spot was delicious and delectable. Tucked away in an old police station, Rosedale offers a wide variety of classic Southern eats at an affordable price point. Our favorites were the fried chicken plate and the taramasalata dip. 9/10 We will most certainly be back to try more delicious eats!

Yelp
This is a great casual place with solid food. The guacamole may be the best I've ever had. We also had the fish roe dip, duck pastrami, Cochon de lait, side of Mac and cheese ($5) and special red snapper ($29). Service was relaxed and cheerful. I thought the guacamole and Mac and cheese serving sizes were a bit small for the price - but everything was delicious.

Yelp
First time and it exceeded my expectations. My friend and I got the duck pastrami sandwich with Gruyère cheese. Very very delicious! When in the mid city, try it! You will not be disappointed. They take reservations too!

Yelp
Wow, Rosedale. Rosedale has been a restaurant on my restaurants to try list for a while and I am SO GLAD that I did. Rosedale is tucked away in Lakeview and is a hidden gem. This place is cute and has excellent vibes, but the food is the star! The fried cauliflower was crispy and extremely flavorful. It is fried and covered with pepper jelly and crab boil aioli. My entree, the meatloaf sandwich. WOW. It comes on french bread with roast garlic aioli, bacon jam, and arugula (I got mine without!). And it was SO TASTY. It is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I will definitely be back and I will dream about the meatloaf sandwich every night until then.

Yelp
I went here for a business dinner. There are two sides to the restaurant. The back where the bar is was very busy and loud and the front by the host stand was quiet. I don't think we realized that was the case when we got there otherwise, we would have asked to sit in the front. This is not a knock on the restaurant - just giving a heads up to anyone who is looking to eat here, but wants a quieter dinner.
google avatar

Angie D.

Yelp
First off it's a little bit off the beaten path but it's so worth the potholed street to get there. We really wanted to sit outside unfortunately all outside tables were reserved so we sat in the sun room. It was quite and comfortable. Cocktails were delicious. My husband loved the TARAMASALATA appetizer, I personally wasn't big on it but it just wasn't my taste. I did however love the meatloaf sandwich, it was flavorful. The hubby had the pork chop special, I didn't taste it but he said it was delicious and ate every bite. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
I've only eaten here for lunch and during happy hour which happy hour no longer seems to exist and lunch now only happens on Fridays while they also have Brunch on Sundays. The food here is generally alright but nothing really stood out to me other than the prices for lunch seem to run higher than many other places. This restaurant gives off a strong hipster vibe in both the food and the design aesthetics of the building. Personally, I've never been a fan of the whole hipster culture and I was really happy to read a recent article that indicated the hipster aesthetic is finally out of fashion. So just like the hipster fashion trend is changing I think Rosedale could benefit from some tweaks to their food as well because I've found the food I've eaten here just often fails to really reach its full flavor potential to my taste at least. Other than the burger most of the food I've had here has really been quite average which on the New Orleans scale of food that would be below average. This spot seems to be casual dining at fine dining prices except most of the food doesn't really get up to the level of fine dining. The only thing I've eaten here that seemed decently priced and that met my expectations was their burger which is an enjoyable example of the burger genre. Most of my food experiences here have left me with the experience of pondering how such small portions justify the associated price as, outside of the burger, the food I've eaten here has been served in what I would consider small dainty hipster portions. Much of the food is also prepared in ways that I could just cook the same thing at home to get the same or better results in a much larger portion for a much more affordable price. The one time I had turtle soup here I was also pretty disappointed, along with being rather shocked and insulted, that I wasn't offered sherry with my turtle soup as that is a form of sacrilege in NOLA. The lamb meatballs I had during happy hour were ok but definitely not very filling. The "drink specials" and "happy hour" prices seemed high priced even on special. The space is interesting but the parking is limited in the area and I'm not sure this restaurant really fits in with the neighborhood as they have lots of rules posted that seem to have been from past disturbances with the neighbors? Other than when I ordered the burger for lunch I've actually had to go eat a second lunch after my lunch here to fill up. Maybe dinner is better here? Sadly this restaurant just doesn't seem to ring my bell generally. You of course should still check this joint out as it might ring your bell as you might have a much different experience. Overall to my preferences there are just a great number of much better options at much better prices while your preferences may vary. My video review of Rosedale is here: https://youtu.be/p3jCmT88Nl8

Yelp
Always a good idea. Great outdoor seating...intimate and neighborhoody vibe inside...food and service is consistently great.

Yelp
Food, service, atmosphere are all to die for. Such a cute and delicious place. Fried cauliflower is a must!!

Yelp
out of the way but well worth the trip great american bistro with a New Orleans twist Patio will be a great evening with friends so far can't go wrong with any of the menu choices

Stuart T.

Yelp
Friendly neighborhood spot with great service. We had the tuna and it was remarkable. Perfect spot to grab dinner with friends and you can choose your vibe between the intimate indoor area or outdoor patio.
google avatar

Corinne D.

Yelp
It was very good as was the service and ambience. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Parking is the only problem.

Kelly C.

Yelp
A mid-city gem! Everything was delicious and everyone was welcoming. The fried cauliflower was better than expected, the flavor of the barbecue shrimp was smoky and rich, and, while I can't remember the name of our dessert, it was great and the perfect end to the meal. They have an outdoor patio space for when the weather is nice, too!

Gokmen G.

Yelp
We had some good time here Service was great and everyone was very polite to us . Ambiance is why we were here for And food has good and bad dishes for us but everyone's tastebud is different so I like one dish I didn't like other one so I can't say too much but there is something for someone here for right chose I believe

Thomas V.

Yelp
This is a great little restaurant hidden in Lakeview. We really enjoyed their dinner service so we brought a group for brunch. The brunch menu is short, but many of the sandwich fare and other side dishes off of the standard menu. Of course we loved the fried cauliflower. Shrimp and grits was spicy and good as was the shrimp creole.

Nancy F.

Yelp
Enjoyed the menu. Meatloaf sandwich was delicious. Went with friends. Service excellent. Will be back.

Yelp
Love this place...an amazingly well kept secret in NOLA! Food was amazing, staff was even better. Gotta go back for the fried cauliflower!

Kurt H.

Yelp
Outfreakingstanding!!!!!! I had one of the best old fashions this year at the bar. Food was unique (not in a bad way), so yummy, and very filling. They made steak fries something incredible- I coulda eaten a few plates of this dish for dinner snd been fine! This restaurant is a gem!!! The public road out front looks like it was bombed - has nothing to do with the restaurant though!

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Susan did it again! Enjoyed the Croquet Madam at lunch today. Sumptuous, crunchy, savory, flavorful decadence. It's not a sandwich, it's an experience
google avatar

Naomi D.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious.... Everything we tried, turtle soup, chicken pate, and arancini for appetizers. Entree's just as impressive. We had the meatloaf sandwich, shrimp creole and pork ribeye special. All were amazing, our favorite being the meatloaf sandwich. Oh and got to meet Susan Spicer on the way out. She's just as kind as can be.
google avatar

Gabriella L.

Yelp
It was delicious, friendly, and casual but still a little upscale in terms of atmosphere compared to a true casual restaurant. Very New Orleans Try the broccoli!
google avatar

TeamTuesday G.

Yelp
I'm unsure if I'd go back. I say this because the food and drinks are so unique & different. Though It wasn't nasty. The dessert was good. We ordered one of each of all the deserts. I sampled them all and must say the cheesecake hit the spot for me. The fruit was super fresh & juicy. & the fried cauliflower was really good. I would definitely need like a craving for one or two things to visit again. Most of the food & drink items have a required taste. A nice hangout spot. I would go with a group to hang out and only order certain things from the menu. Go with a open mind.

Yelp
Great service and tasty food. The ambience was nice for an evening meal. The staff was very welcoming.

Yelp
Well, the weather finally became pleasant enough to eat outside with a friend again. The back patio is spacious, well lit once it gets a little dark, and very roomy with room for the server and for you and your table. The service by Gehea (I think I misspelled it, sorry!) was phenomenal! She knew how to do her thing well!! She knows the menu and she gives great service, with a smile too! The hostess at the entrance was equally lovely. Now let's talk about the food: we loved our peppadew shooter appetizer. Please take a look at my pictures of it, I have one up close and one of the whole appetizer plate. It really was one of the best preparations of peppadews I've ever had! Then my friend had the turtle soup which she really enjoyed and I had the beet salad which was a special salad of the day, I think. Yes the menu had options that were regular options and also daily special options. Everything was delicious and my salad is pictured below. Then I think my friend had the ribs, and she fully enjoyed it and I had the smoked fish branded with Crostini that was just perfect in size and delicious! Next, I cannot finish this review without talking about the lovely red wine we had from the draft wine bar, and we were served a carafe so that we could have more than one glass a piece and my friend took the leftover wine home in a closed container. So that was a win-win. And the other cute but nice point is that they served ample water in tall glasses so I was able to stay adequately hydrated! What else? I don't know but I'll be back because it's really good and the service and ambience were fabulous!

Yelp
I didn't think anything could compare to Pascale's Manale's BBQ Shrimp...Rosedale has not only topped it but has blown it away!

Yelp
A lovely spot to eat inside or outside with amazing food from chef Susan Spicer. Had lunch here yesterday and as always her food is delicious. Go try and enjoy!

Vinny B.

Yelp
Food. 9 Service. 9 Ambiance 9 I highly recommend food was delicious. It was a great variety and selection. We tried four of the appetizers. All delicious. The wife and I shared shrimp, creole barbecued shrimp, and a meatloaf sandwich. We had plenty to take home. Everything was over-the-top. This place is definitely the trendsetter.

Yelp
Second visit to Rosedale- this time with a large group. Staff did an amazing job accommodating changes in our reservation on one of the busiest days of the year. Cocktails were delicious and everyone enjoyed their brunch entrees including shrimp creole, Cochon de lait poboys, duck pastrami and chicken and waffles. Restaurant is very casual but food and service are first class

Adrienne L.

Yelp
We sat outside, lovely late afternoon. I had a special termed, Pork rib eye which turned out to be a huge pork chop placed carefully on top of mashed potatoes with Brussels sprouts on the side. There was just a hint of a berry sauce on top of chop. My friend had the drum, which she ate every bit of , so I'd say it was enjoyable. Can't beat the pecan pie with ice cream! I'm never disappointed in Rosedale.

Cole P.

Yelp
Food is great , service impeccable and overall great experience. I highly recommend to try rosedale if your in the lakeview / mid city area .
google avatar

Khai N.

Yelp
The menu looked more amazing than the food tasted. Service was excellent but the food was missing something. Our fish was completely over cooked. The fried chicken was just ok. The sides of Mac n cheese and potatoes chips that came with the entrees were the highlight of the menu. I would come back and give it another try. Based on all the reviews, we might have came on an off day for the chef.

Claire H.

Yelp
Rosedale is dreamy! I plan to bring my tourist friends here because the food is just so good! I was impressed with the warm mushroom & butternut salad! My partner got the duck pastrami sandwich. We were both very happy! The staff is always super accommodating and when it's not too hot outside the patio is beautiful! They always prefer you make a reservation so always check in before making your way over!

Kieran B.

Yelp
Randomly met head chef Jacob on our flight to NOLA and we took his recommendation to visit his restaurant. Went for wife's birthday and was a total hit!! The restaurant has a cool but casual neighborhood vibe and the staff is very friendly. Menu has interesting collection but all of the dishes were well prepared with fresh ingredients. Finally, Chef Jacob stopped by the table a couple of times to check on us - a very kind and professional person. This was highlight of our trip to this great, foodie city - highly recommend!!

Dianne H.

Yelp
Love this local restaurant. It never disappoints me. Great service and good. I like the little house feeing of this establishment. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Phenomenal Fathers Day meal. We requested a last minute reservation and they were very accommodating. The entire menu was tasty. The burger, my bourbon chicken, but especially my dads duck sandwich. I am not a duck fan. At all. But this is next level melt in your mouth unexpected flavorful bites. Dare I say... one of the best San which we I've ever tried??? Drinks are pretty average price wise. Which can get pricy after a few. But they do have wine on tap, which I love. So I'll head back for a happy hour on my next trip. My family comes often and raves about the menu.
google avatar

Patricia R.

Yelp
This is another Susan Spicer restaurant and another big hit. First things first - the building is actually an old jail. How cool is that? Pair that nugget with food that makes my eyes roll back in my head and service that truly makes me smile, and you know it's another winner. It's a casual spot with a cozy feel. The staff is friendly and laid back, but still extremely efficient and attentive. The menu is the perfect size. There are plenty enough dishes - all interesting - to keep you coming back. My favorites: Pate board - Susan Spicer's pate is the best I've ever had. I'm taking in the whole world, and I'm a huge pate lover. Pimento cheese sandwich - it's warm, melty, rich, cheesy, and has a little kick. In a word, it's decadent. The burger - perfect size, always cooked to perfection White sangria - fruity, refreshing, just plain delicious Everything is awesome. My husband had the stuffed skirt steak last night. Y'all, it's stuffed with Boursin cheese - come on!! Effing Boursin cheese! Yes, she went there. It was unctuous. Go to Rosedale.
google avatar

Babs D.

Yelp
Please don't eat here - I don't want to have trouble getting a table. Amazing high end food in comfortable setting. The bar is great, too.
google avatar

Steven b.

Yelp
When you sit near the bar of a place, and the TV has on 'beat Bobby Flay' instead of sports, you know it's a foodie place. Everything was excellent; the red drum was well made, and the only problem is it's out of the way.
google avatar

Omegia L.

Yelp
This place did not disappoint.. i came with my co-workers for a lunch meeting. I was skeptical that this spot would be great due to this being one of my co-workers favorite Eateries. I had one of the specials which was the sauté drum. The drum was served in a bowl surround by a dark rich broth. See pic. My co/workers had the meat loaf sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and i can't remember what the last plate is but every one raved over their food. It's kinda fancy but not so fancy spot. Oh i almost forgot i had the pecan pie and Espresso ice cream. We shared the fried cauliflower and a fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They were great as well.
google avatar

Pat B.

Yelp
Definitely off the beaten path but it's near Delgado & City Park so it's easy to find and easy to park by. Seating on the outdoor patio is plentiful and there's indoor space as well. The menu is a creative mix of NOLA favorites like Turtle Soup, Cochon Du lait, and more. Everything we ordered was delicious. Enjoy! RESERVATIONS Recommended, it gets busy!

Chris W.

Yelp
Lunch on the patio was perfect. Service is wonderful. The po' boy was delicious as were the cocktails.

Nicole A.

Yelp
It was a really good meal and service was excellent. We'll be back. Definitely need to make a reservation as they have gotten very popular. I can't wait till they bring back their shrimp and butternut squash bisque.
google avatar

Pamela L.

Yelp
Friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Wonderful food and drinks! We enjoyed the fried cauliflower appetizer, Shrimp Creole, pimento cheese sandwich, broccoli, garlic bread and the meat loaf sandwich (which was everyone's favorite). The building even has great character. Check out the unisex bathroom. It was previously used as a jail cell. Nice outdoor seating too. Next time we will have to sit outside.
google avatar

Sheila C.

Yelp
Fabulous little gem tucked in a residential neighbourhood. Server was personable & very efficient. Building is beautiful - food fabulous! Already planning our neck visit.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Freakin outstanding food, drinks, & service! Adorable vintage salt and pepper shakers (resembling roosters, fish, an avocado). The staff obviously invests a lot of care into everything they provide. And again, the food is absolutely impeccable. Pictured is the omelette I got for brunch today. The side dish of Italian broccoli is to die for which seems weird to say about broccoli, lol. This place was great when I first went here 5 years ago and it is still stellar. So refreshing to find a restaurant that has consistent quality, & I'm sure that is not an easy thing to accomplish. Very impressed, you won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
Food was great and flavored to Perfection. We were just stopping through before heading home and it was worth it. The mimosa are strong but that's a good thing or 4.00. They don't taste bitter.
