The Best Restaurant Desserts in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Rosélys, in the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel, features high-end desserts from chef Jean-Marc Guillot at a surprisingly reasonable price point. Enjoy a chocolate entremet to end a meal or try out the afternoon tea, served with petits fours aplenty." - Mallory Frayn

10 Places That Do Justice to Montreal Bagels | Eater Montreal

"This restaurant inside the newly-renovated Fairmont Queen Elizabeth is taking things a notch above the rest and making their own in-house, mini, Montreal bagels to accompany their daily breakfast buffet. The best part is that they’re part of a build-your-own bagel bar, complete with an array of toppings, from jams and jellies, to smoked salmon and other cured fish options." - Mallory Frayn

First time trying the Breakfast Buffet on a weekend. It was busy and had to wait a bit. It’s worth the wait. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere. Lots of food choices but my fave was the Eggs Benedict. The breakfast was perfect and will definitely come back ❤️❤️

Google
Came here for a late brunch they still had a great breakfast menu despite it being it being close to 11. Food was food but one of the items we ordered didn't come out until we'd finished our meal despite the restaurant being empty. Would come from the breakfast buffet next time.

It was my first time trying afternoon tea and I loved the experience. I wish it was a little more balanced as there were more sweet elements compared to savory ones but everything was delicious. I recommend starting with the second tier, than the bottom one and finish with the top one to get a break from all the sweetness. The service was great. I definetly recommend it!

Google
Great brunch experience ! All you can eat buffet with posh ingredients. Nice looking restaurant, fantastic service and an awesome choice of gourmet foods. The buffet is well managed so you don’t have to wait too long to fill your plate. Many choices, you can pick little portion to try everything and come back for bigger bites once you know what you prefer ! I was amazed by the quality of the food ! The seafood was fresh and tasty. (Marinated Salmon/prawn were top notch) The meat was perfectly cook and served as you’d like. The cheese board was impressive with lot of nice cured cheese. And finally the dessert are homemade and delicious, try to keep some room in your stomach for them ;)

My friends and I had a delightful evening at Rosélys. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive. The ambiance of the restaurant provided the perfect setting for conversation. We did arrive 30 minutes before the kitchen closed at 10 pm, which made us feel slightly rushed to order, but overall, the experience was still very enjoyable. It would be great if the restaurant extended its opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Despite this, I would definitely return.

Google
The high tea experience was awesome. They have a great selection of black, green and white teas with a few reserve items (+6$). The food was absolutely delicious, scones, savoury and sweet selections. And don't be worried about the items small size, you will be full by the end. We took a prosceso bottle and turned it into a royal high tea. The staff was amazing, our server was super helpful and thoughtful.

Google
Nice ambiance in the restaurant. Staff are friendly. We had good service from our servers. Food is good, not a fan of the octopus dish on their lunch menu. The desserts on the dinner menu are delicious!

Google
This spot is so trendy and reminded of the great Gatsby movie. I came here for brunch buffet on a Sunday and the food selections was outstanding & delicious BUT my waiter was horrible. He only spoke to the French clients and avoided my guest and I at all cost. I had to ask for water and ice when it was pretty obvious we needed refills. I waited for 30 minutes to get a cup of coffee and worst is , I asked for cream which took him an additonal 20 minutes to bring it. Service was extremely slow. Despite the terrible service, I'd return.

Yelp
Enjoying afternoon tea at Roselys, you could be forgiven for thinking you were transported to a different era. The restaurant was decorated art déco style, and we were dressed in our better clothes to enjoy each other's company along with 3 tiers of food. Throughout the restaurant, multi-generational families enjoyed conversation over individual teapots, tiny sandwiches, and scones with Devonshire cream. I selected the La Douceur tea, which is described as having notes of caramel and chocolate. Delicious. The scones, plain and raisin, were fantastic. I loved most of the mini sandwiches - the pastrami and the gougère ones were stale. The deviled egg, cucumber, and savory macaron were stellar, though. The desserts were mouthfuls of heaven. Each one was delicious and different: Chocolate brownie, sweet carrot macaron, pistachio club, lemon tart with yuzu jelly, petit écolier. We enjoyed the tiers of food, good conversation, and the luxury of time, which is sorely missing from most social interactions. I loved that our table was by the large window so that we could people-watch. One note though - our table was so small and the tiered caddy so large, we had to contort ourselves to be seen by each other. We also spied on each other through the caddy, as if playing peek-a-boo.

Yelp
This was my best and most favorite dining experience that I had during my brief vacation in Montréal. My family stumbled across this place on accident, after touring the underground city all day. We were so lucky we around Rosélys. The food, service, and ambiance were great all around. We were very hungry for lunch and were seated right away. My grandpa and I both ordered the burger, which came with a starter salad... both were absolutely delicious! The salad was great, a big fresh portion with tasty lemon-olive oil dressing. The burger was also superb, cooked to perfection with tasty toppings and sauce. It was also huge! The everything seasoned bun was what really made it, it was amazing! The fries were also a great compliment to the dish. My grandma ordered the soup of the day, which was a zucchini soup with bacon bits, and she said it was one of the best soups she's ever had. We finished off the dinner with a dessert-- which was chocolate mousse with pecan cake bits. Very good! We will back when back in Montréal!

Yelp
Stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth and enjoyed bit the breakfast buffet and afternoon tea at this place. The breakfast was included in our stay but would've still been happy with the breakfast if I had to pay. They had a great variety of fresh pastry and variety of cold salmon. We also went here on my wife's birthday for afternoon tea and they had a great selection of teas and both savory and sweet dishes that were very satisfying. Service was friendly and the restaurant had a classy yet casual decor.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were excited to try to high tea on the weekend, it was confirmed for the Barbie dream experience, however it was regular high tea. Our table was missing the Barbie menu which were on other tables. There were a few raffles, win one night stay in the hotel and win a ring from the collection at the entrance. Expect to wait long in between getting the tea and food. Our waitress was quick to explain each level, without showing which item she was referring to. She never checked on us to see if we needed anything. She did change an item due to an allergy, which was appreciated. The teas were lukewarm, which was mentioned in other reviews. We opted for jasmine and black tea. The top level (savory bites) had mostly tasty items, except the foie gras macaron. The best was the puff pastry with gougére cheese and miso. The middle level of scones were not warm, although tasty with the cream. You can choose from different jams: strawberry, orange and raspberry. The bottom level (sweet table) were not overly sweet, the raspberry macaron was the best. It took very long to receive the bill, and we were even told to give up the table when it was due to the wait time. Overall atmosphere is nice, and there is booth seating. Many were dressed in pink, and taking photos. I would not return for high tea, perhaps for drinks at their bar with colleagues.

Yelp
While Fairmont dinning options are middling in my experience they serve a purpose i.e. no surprises and food that would not offend. This is a giant hotel after all and geared towards conventions. I ended up here as was catching up a train right around rush hour. Having checked in the luggage at via rail (yup that's an option for same day travel) and being somewhat light. I had to kill a bit of time and have food while working. This one fit the bill. I even got a spot next to a power plug which is great. The service is decent and I went with the prixe fixe lunch. They have a decent beer selection on tap which I availed after work hours. The app was decent while the burger being OK. While one has a lot of options but this spot will do if you want to stick around in the convention area or the via rail. 3.5 stars

Yelp
A quick visit to Montreal, we wanted to check out the dining at the hotel - The Queen Elizabeth Fairmont. We were seated immediately in a cozy booth. Our server was incredibly helpful and guided us through the menu. Enjoying a glass of wine, we started with the focaccia bread - the butter was the best part! For my main I selected the ricotta and spinach ravioli - its flavor was subtle and was in every bite.

Yelp
Amateur at best. Actually bad to be presented it in one of the best hotels in town. Sugar for tea in sachets not lumps. No butter unless you ask for it. No white gloves!!! I mean come one. This is high tea time and we are supposed to be dressed smart business. Table is so small whereby it is all supposed to be served on a trolly for the bites. Cutlery was not changed for from savoury to sweet. Tea bags left on table as trash. Server didn't know everything she served. Tea was not heated. And the pot didn't sit in its glove! Yelp
Rosélys is the restaurant on the ground floor of Fairmont The Hotel Queen Elizabeth in Montreal. My husband and I stayed at the hotel last week and decided one evening to have dinner at Roselys. We had such a good time that we returned the following evening! The restaurant is large and elegant with huge glass windows. We were asked if we wanted to sit by the windows but my husband was drawn to the terrific live jazz band that was playing on the opposite side of the room. So he asked if we could sit closer to the music which was a real treat. While everything on the menu sounded remarkably good, an excellent wait staff makes all of the difference. Sylvain is the staff member who took care of us. He was friendly, humorous and very knowledgeable. The char appetizer that I ordered looked raw like sashimi, but he explained that it was actually cooked using a technique called sous vide. Wow. It was delicious. I'd also recommend the Chinese broccoli which was cooked perfectly. My husband and I shared the grilled octopus and couscous appetizer, which was also a hit. Did I want something to drink? I wasn't sure. My husband was having a beer and a double scotch. Sylvain recommended a cocktail for me called, "The Right Word." It consists of gin, St. Germain liquor, vermouth and lime. He said if I didn't like it, he would drink it himself. That made me laugh. I agreed. It was great. I was on my way to the ladies room when my husband surprised me and asked for a dance. We happened to be standing directly in front of the band. No one else was dancing and we're not great dancers, but people stopped to compliment us afterwards. We had such a great time that we returned the next evening for a late supper and a nightcap. This time, we sat at the bar. Our bartender, Adrian, was so helpful and welcoming. The jazz band had long since gone home, but the bar had a friendly vibe all its own. Of course, I ordered the char again! My husband ordered a hamburger which he really enjoyed. He shared some of his wonderful fries and salad with me. I noticed that some Yelp reviews complained that the meals were pricey. Given the exchange rate, my US dollars went farther. I thought the food and drink were just awesome. My thanks to the Roselys' staff, especially Sylvain and Adrian for helping to make our dining experiences so special.

Yelp
During a quick visit to Montréal, our team decided an early night was in order and we would try out the hotel restaurant, Roselys. Roselys is located in the main floor of the Fairmont Hotel. I had tried the breakfast which was great, and includes a comprehensive buffet (but no fresher pressed juice was a bummer). I was excited to try dinner. The service was great, very friendly with knowledgeable team members. The wine selection was a bit random with a variety of countries and regions represented. The salads were all delicious, and one person ordered zucchini fritters which she really liked. The entres were okay...in all honesty, it was just great to be there in the hotel and easy breezy. Being in bed early when you have a 4:00am wake up is the best!! And it is nice to have this delicious option right there in the hotel. It's a great menu with a great offering and dessert is not to be missed! 4 stars because a couple team members have a bit of an attitude and a few dishes were under seasoned.

Yelp
I absolutely live for decor and that's exactly what Rosely's provided! This restaurant is so beautiful decorated from the high ceilings to the chandeliers to the pops of gold accents throughout; if you are looking for an Instagramable place to eat you will certainly be thrilled to dine here! We came for a late breakfast and were a bit shocked by the high price of each dish but really enjoyed the quality of the food and how well it was seasoned. The fruit was fresh and the potatoes were so delicious I finished my plate of food and wanted more! The chocolate croissants we're fantastic as well; I would definitely come back when I'm looking for an elegant dining experience.

Yelp
That was one disappointing Mother's Day brunch. Don't get me wrong, the food was all good, but at $125 per person, the cost was so out of line with what was actually served that it felt like we were getting robbed. I would expect to pay $50, maybe $75 for the 'holiday,' but $125 was insane. The big draw over the phone was supposed to be lobster, but the lobster that was served was a small roll mixed with crab and shrimp. Ni crab legs or claws to be had, no lobster outside the roll, and only one other shrimp dish. he other stars of the cold side were oysters, lox and a beef carpaccio, but that doesn't add up to the cost. On the hot side they were carving a nice roast, pork loin and duck breast, but that isn't special. I was hoping for rack of lamb (it was prat of the Easter menu), but that wasn't on offer. The rest of the hot food was really nothing special. I didn't even bother with the omelet bar, what are they going to produce to justify the cost. Dessert were really good, but again nothing all that special. For the price, they didn't even do a good job keeping the coffee and juice topped up, and champagne (even the cheap stuff) wasn't included at the price. It might e worth it for a special occasion that does not fall on a holiday, but do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and skip the 'big' brunch holidays.

Yelp
High tea at the Fairmont was a very special experience, the service was amazing, and a couple of tweaks to the desserts and email communications could have made it perfect. To celebrate a special occasion with my sister, I decided to take her and my mother out to the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth for high tea. I emailed to inquire about reserving a spot on a Sunday about a week in advance and inquiring about dietary requirements; apparently all of my emails went through, because the reservation and all of the notes were on file, but I only ever received one reply, and this was delayed by several days, so I wound up having to visit in person to confirm when I was in the neighborhood. In future, I would advise calling instead of emailing to make a reservation. We arrived at Rosely's for our scheduled time and were warmly greeted by the staff and taken upstairs where our coats were taken and hung up. The high tea is served on the second floor dining room overlooking the "Marie, Reine du monde" church, away from the hustle and bustle of the brunch crowd in the restaurant below. Our table was set with an eclectic mix of plates and cups; it felt very regal but also whimsical with all the different colours. We were brought menus describing the different teas as well as a plate of sample bottles so we could smell our desired blends. We chose a spiced bazaar tea (spicy but also very smooth), the house icewine tea (a white tea that tasted fruity and floral - the best of the bunch), and a green tea (which had a typical grassy aroma but a smooth taste) so we could experience a spectrum of different blends. The teas came out in different styles of teapots (British and Japanese, notably) with a little timer to tell us when to take out the leaves. The chef modified the food platter to suit our needs as lacto-ovo vegetarians. The scones were very well baked and I enjoyed the Devonshire cream with them - it really reminded me of days having tea in England. The jams and caramel spread were a little disappointing, though: they weren't bursting with flavor, and instead just tasted like colored sugar. The savory dishes were mind-blowing, including a macaron with goat's cheese in it, a tiny avocado toast with a sundried tomato, and a pink deviled egg. The desserts, unfortunately, were a little disappointing. The jujubes and marshmallow were okay, the pear tart was so-so, and the chocolate cake was not tasty at all - I would have expected better given the rest of the items we ate. Overall, the bites of food were beautifully presented and filling, but the desserts let down an otherwise flawless experience. Most people tend to linger when they were having tea, but we were on a schedule, so we were advised to tell our waiter in advance so the service would come out quickly. My sister and mother definitely thought the experience was unique, and I think I would consider doing it again but would like to see some different options on the dessert platter next time.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch was amazing! We had a great experience overall. Service was great. Food was outstanding. Ambiance was lovely.

Yelp
Busy, bustling place at breakfast time, with a slight cafeteria feel to it and a buffet (COVID?). Service was not great, but I had to feel some compassion for the waiter who was clearly overloaded. I had the avocado toast and it looked elegant, but was difficult to eat because the bread was tough to cut. I wouldn't choose it again for a business breakfast.

Evan O.

Yelp
Went here for dinner and it was wonderful, if slightly overpriced. Not sure what the average yelp reviews are all about! Service was perfect, wine was delicious and the scallops were plump, seared but not overcooked with a mild and unique cream of lettuce sauce that was an amazing pair.

Yelp
Although I really enjoyed my experience at the Nacarat located in the same hotel, I must admit that my experience at the Rosélys was rather disappointing. We had a reservation at noon and were seated very quickly, the waiter presented us with the table d'hôte menu which immediately caught our attention as it lacked variety. As starters, we had the choice between a salmon gravlax and a salad with seafood, for one of my colleagues who can't eat seafood, let's say that it was quite restrictive. Then, on all the proposed main courses, only one was not fish-based: the beef tenderloin. I ordered the salmon gravlax and the lobster and scallop gnocchi. Given that the day before had been festive for me, I abstained from ordering wine but the proposed selection which came with the table d'hôte seemed to be very good according to the others. Our starters arrived fairly quickly, then. it. was. long... very very long ... We arrived at noon and still had not received our plates at 1:30... and we weren't the only ones, as most of the room was without their order and many did not seem very happy. We ended up receiving our long-awaited main courses that we had to swallow at full speed while paying our bills and having to run back to the office in record time ... The food was very good but we were unanimous on the fact that we won't come back, at least not during lunch hour because there's clearly a lack of coordination.

Yelp
Went to Rosélys for High Tea with some girlfriends! The table featured beautiful original British tea sets (Wedgewood) and the service was very nice! There was a mix of savoury sandwiches and sweet treats. They , also, has scones which were to die for! The scones combined with the crème fraîche and confiture were heavenly! Their selection of gourmet teas are very nice , I highly recommend the Icewine (Ontario) if you like anything Riesling-y. Other notable mentions (regarding teas) include Long Island Strawberry and Earl Gray Crémeux. I let them know that one of my friends is allergic to shellfish and peanuts and they were very accommodating, creating her a custom menu! The space and experience would be perfect for birthdays, small bridal showers or a quick afternoon snack date! They are very flexible with reservations. Enjoy!

Yelp
$1 oysters on Wednesday's! This is the real reason I come to Roselys. I work downtown so it is easy for me to cross the street and come to this place which is located onsite the Fairmount Queen Elizabeth. The decor and ambiance is classy and the service from most of the waiters are good. They also have a decent selection of wine. Price is not cheap but if you are looking for a nice place to go with pretty good food downtown, then this place is for you.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch review Go straight for the crepes I had mine with grand mariner and drenched them with chocolate and vanilla white sauce. Everything is high grade-- sushi lobster rolls smoked salmon prosciutto etc The food is endless It's $50 a head so not cheap but my family tradition I was hesitant with the line even with a reservation but it was lovely and worth it. Book in advance and come hungry

Yelp
Came here for the all you can eat sunday brunch. Although it's a bit pricey (52$), it was definitely worth the experience. They have many different kinds of food, food sushi to bacon to crêpe flambée. Everything tasted fresh and was pretty good. The service is awesome. Everyone is friendly and nice. The inside is nicely decorated and is very clean. They come refill your orange juice at your table several times. Don't think I would come back if it's not for a special occasion since it's not cheap for a casual brunch. However, it's definitely a nice place for brunch on a special occasion.

Yelp
Had dinner on the last day of August, general comment comes first: this restaurant is a shame to the renowned Fairmont name and the term "fine dinner". 1) Creepy food. Can you believe it that all the chips were cold and soft; 2) During the whole dinner, the server in charge of our table did not even refill the water for only once; 3) The server did not even came to do the routine greetings, like "how's everything going" or "Is everything ok". Therefore we didn't even get a chance to have the water refilled; 4) We ordered steak, but the server did not even ask "how would you like your steak". May I ask if there is only one way to cook steak? 5) Racial discrimination. All guests around us were served well. They did not have some water refill problems. After the server refilling water at our next table, he saw our empty glasses, then just walked away. Oh, all these guests were not Asian looking face. Then I finally got the point that it is racial discrimination. Conclusion:1) I strongly recommend my Asian fellows to avoid this restaurant, or at least avoid the server with a letter G in his surname. 2) Please take the comments on Google and yelp seriously, especially recent comments and negative comments. I thought I would not be unlucky one, in fact I was wrong. 3) don't simply trust the dining service quality in some big brand hotels, such as Fairmont

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Friday and the restaurant was half empty. The dishes are not spectacular in taste, but the presentation does allude to fine dining. To start, the octopus was nicely presented and very tender. Their walleye ceviche lacked flavour for a cured fish and the plating was just sauce covering the fish. For mains, the cod I ordered had a nice foam and a lot of edamame beans. The fish was cooked well, not too dry but the flavours were mellow. Overall, not too memorable of an experience for the price tag. Food is okay but the restaurant atmosphere is nice.

Yelp
I initially wanted to eat and have drinks at Nacarat but some of the menu items I wanted were not available such as the lobster Mac and cheese and the beef tartare. So I had one drink which they also have at Rosélys called Dubonnet and left. If you wanna try a light gin drink I recommend it. I had a glass of Robert Mondavie Pinot Noir at Rosélys and it was very good! Rosélys is big and a nice looking restaurant. There's an open kitchen so you can see the chef and sous chefs working. The reason I'm giving it only three stars is because the service was pretty bad. It took an hour to get our entrees and we kept having to ask for water. The waiter said it's because two tables were keeping them busy but the restaurant was not very busy. My cousin and I shared two starters. We had the Eastern Township Rainbow Trout and the roasted octopus. Out of the two I preferred the octopus. It was good but not amazing. It had curried cauliflower and capers in it. I had the 6oz beef flank which was tasty especially the sauce. It was so buttery. There were mushrooms and string beans as well. Normally they put almonds on it but because my cousin is allergic we asked them not to put any. The meal was good but perhaps a bit pricy for the size and for what it was. My cousin had the Arctic char. I took a bite. It didn't have much flavour to be honest. My dish was definitely better. Besides the steak the food was just ok. I picked this restaurant to go to for my birthday but honestly I wish I had picked another.

Yelp
This is a very nice restaurant, the saying it's about quality not quantity applies here. I would qualify it as fine dining or very close. The concept of open cuisine is very nice, they bake their own bread which is delicious. The place is clean. Only downside is that it is a bit pricey I find and they make you pay for the bread.

Yelp
I've been waiting with bated breath for them to re-open because the Fairmont was one of my regular spots. I'd had tea at le Montréalais before where the food was decent but service and decor were so-so, all off-set by the much-better-than-Toronto prices. I had a sort of crappy day last week and decided that I needed to cheer myself up with afternoon tea. Unfortunately for me, it was too late to go to the Ritz and all the other places I was looking at were either too far away (because I had a plane to catch), closed, or required reservations a day in advance. So the Rosélys it was. I was shocked at how much they increased the price after the renovation - afternoon tea sans alcohol was $26 at the Montréalais, pre-renovation. Now itès $37 at the Rosélys (compared to I think $35 at the Ritz and $25ish in other, less fancy but well-reputed tea rooms). But I had a bad day, so I needed to do what I had to do. The service was great. Someone was nice enough to carry my suitcase upstairs (because the tea room is on the second floor of the restaurant) and the staff were wonderful - perfect mix of attentive but not overbearing. They wheeled out a fancy cart with lots of bottles of champagnes in it to try to entice you to go for the more expensive option, but I'm not a big drinker, so I didn't bite. They also brought out a selection of tea leaf samples in pretty bottles for you choose your tea, and I went with the classic Darjeeling, which is one of my faves. The china is gorgeous, and the decor is very new. They brought out my pot of tea with a cute little tea timer that tells you how long to let it steep for, depending on how strong you want your tea. I found that my tea never really got as strong as I wanted though, so I'm not sure if the timer wasn't compatible with my tea or if they didn't give me enough leaves. But regardless, the tea was nice. They provide rock sugar for your tea, which is beautiful and fun but which I find annoying in practical use because it takes forever to dissolve. My tea service came shortly after, with a nice selection of tiny savoury pieces, pastries, and two scones. The savoury sandwiches were nice - a basic cucumber, a basic egg salad one, a nice smoked salmon option, and my favourite - some kind of creamy, savoury seafood concoction. In an ideal world, I'd have just a couple pieces each of the salmon and the seafood! Very good. The pastries were alright. Very rich, decadent hazelnutty, crunchy chocolate cake with a layer of what tasted like panna cotta. There was a lemon tart, which was good despite it not being my cup of tea - ditto the carrot confit macaron. There was a very buttery tasting fruity poundcake, which I enjoyed, a fruit tart, and buttery cookie topped with white chocolate. The scones are my favourite part of any tea and it was the part that kind of fell short. They were very good-looking, smooth scones and I tend to prefer more rugged, jagged scones (like the Kitten and the Bear in Toronto). I found their scones to be quite dense. Buttery, but a bit heavy for my preference. Worst of all was the jam. I think they serve jam from their gourmet shop - they come in these cute, little pots - but they must be 'healthy jam' because it lacked flavour. Wasn't very sweet or fruity (I had the raspberry)...tasted like the healthy, 'twice the fruit, less sugar' jams I get at the supermarket. So that wasn't great. At two points, someone came out to give me surprise, complimentary food, which I appreciated. The first was a savoury pea puree cube, meant to be dipped in a yogurt that reminded me of tzatziki, and crushed pistachios. They instruct you to eat it in a bite. It was very creamy - must have been avocado in there - and savoury. Not what I'm used to, but it was interesting. The second was a sweet one - a cube of raspberry-red pepper um...solidified cream? Dipped in white chocolate, also meant to be eaten in one bite. Not my thing but it was different and interesting and of course, free food is always very much welcome and appreciated. Overall, the servers and the ambience were wonderful, and I loved their beautiful china. But the food was just so-so. Combined with the newly elevated prices...I'm not sure it's worth it. But they are the only ones providing full afternoon tea service in a central area without having to make reservations and without a 3:30pm-latest-sitting, so they could easily do well just based on convenience.

Yelp
I don't usually eat at the hotel Resto however I decided to try today based on how impressed I had been with the renovations the hotel has undergone and the atmosphere was quite inviting. Nice decor, friendly professional wait staff and a new ope kitchen concept. I had the kale salad and the daily chef's creation. He salad was very good, the dressing had great flavour without overtaking the kale. My main course was a risotto. I love risotto and when the dish arrived, it looked very appetizing. Sadly the whole-wheat risotto lacked flavour. I think the whole-wheat took nature of the grain tool away any chance of rich flavour I was expecting. This was a disappointment for me as I was really looking forward to it. Great ambience, awesome service, I would try something else next time.

Yelp
Atlantic halibut confit, Vicky's citrus butter, lentil, and clam croquette. Alright guys, hear me out. Whether you like it or not, Rosélys is indeed a bougie place and beautifully designed, I'll give them that. But there's just something about hotel restaurants that makes me unsure. My ordinary Moscow mule at $20 a pop makes me cringe- I mean Angel's Share in NYC charges their cocktail at that price but I can totally can justify and confirm that it's worth every single sip. Because it is located inside of the Queen Elizabeth hotel, I somehow had certain expectations. The good thing is that our waiter was extremely friendly but that's as far as it gets. Here are the things that stood out the most: * The ciabatta bread from Costco taste way better than their bread. Sorry guys, but for an upscale environment I truly expected more. When the bread is bad, you know you're in for a bad rollercoaster ride. * You only started giving us little plates because one of our guests asked you to. In my humble opinion, when you serve bread to your clients, you make sure that they have all the necessary cutlery, unless you don't mind the crumbs everywhere. *HOLY FUCK, the service was truly unbearably slow. Maybe because we were a party of 30 people? Regardless, the order was taken at 7:00pm and we only received our main course at 9:00pm. *Because we had a large party, we were forced to have a group menu and the choice for the main course was either the halibut or chicken. You know there's an issue when all your guests prefer the fish but the halibut wasn't even that great to begin with. Sad to say but there are so many better options and competition in Montreal that I unfortunately will not come back to Roselys. With my eyes closed, I can certainly name you upscale restaurants with better service and food that are worth your dime and time.

Yelp
Limited menu selection. Friendly staff. Went for coffee and decent service. Loud music that kind of takes away from the atmosphere.

Yelp
Amazing food. It was such a great experience. I will bring my friends. It just seemed too good to be true. Call for a Sunday Brunch Reservation...so worth it. I will go back over and over.

Yelp
Afternoon tea. Pure luxury. Champagne, and incredible service. The food was absurd. Deviled egg with lobster and caviar, foie gras on an oat cracker, and so on.... we sat for hours. The dining room is gorgeous, and well spaced. There is a hum of chatter, but you aren't forced to listen to the tables next to you. From the hostess, to the bartender, to our server during tea, the service was 5 stars.

Yelp
Went there for breakfast to celebrate a special anniversary. The decor is absolutely beautiful and what a view of the cathedral... Unfortunately the good ends there. The service is cold and rushed, with the waitress repeatedly spilling coffee all over the table with each pour. The breakfast buffet is underwhelming to say the least. Very poor vegetarian selection. Especially given the steep price. But the worst would have to be the many dirty plates and bowls found in the piles of clean dishes in the buffet line. We saw quite a few hairs and chunks of dried food in the bowls near the fruit and yogurt bar. Honestly save yourself the pain of coming here and try any of the many delicious brunch options available in Montreal. Lets hope that lunch and dinner options are better here.

Yelp
This review is for their Afternoon Tea Service. I came for Afternoon Tea on a weekday so there wasn't any wait nor busy. They give you a tray of small canisters with dried tea leaves for you to pick which tea you like. I ordered the Ontario Ice Wine white tea which was great on its own or with milk and sugar. The service included the usual small finger sandwiches, warm scones and desserts. I wanted to eat everything because it was all delicious. It was filling so we had some leftovers.

Yelp
One of the worst dining experiences of my life!! I'm here for work and 4 of us, all women, ordered dinner with just one ordering a filet medium well. It came to her extra well done so we urged her to send it back. She did and 20 MINUTES LATER she received a extra rare steak, so rare she couldn't eat it. The manager made a poor attempt at apologizing then told her she would have to pay for one of the steaks. Outrage erupted at our table! (HELL TO THE NO!!!) Then the owner stopped and immediately castigated my friend for not accepting what she was served and went on to insult her and the rest of us about being terrible customers, not appreciating his "sacrifice" as a restauranteur, etc. Complete BS. He wouldn't back down but we wouldn't either until we made it clear she wasn't paying and we were going to inform all of Montreal what a terrible place this was. STAY AWAY!!!

Yelp
I had made reservations for today, July 11th, for high tea at Rosélys for my cousins' annual high tea get-together. When we arrived, we were told that they don't offer high tea service. I had explained to them that it was on their website and that it specifically says high tea is served from Thursday to Sunday from 2pm-4pm. When I had made the reservations, I even wrote in the "special requirements" box that this booking was for high tea and that there were nut allergies. These reservations were made on July 1st. They said they tried to call me the day before (July 10th). Even if I did receive a call, that doesn't leave me much time to make a new reservation for high tea at another restaurant for 5 persons. For a fancy restaurant at a famous hotel, I'm disappointed to say the least. Note for all establishments: please update your websites. It will save future clientele from wasting their time.

Yelp
Enjoyed a tasty lunch at Rosélys. The grilled romaine salad was delicious - just the right mix of flavors - and the duck was definitely worth trying! Next time I am definitely trying the squash soup! The service was as good as the food and my water glass and wine glass were never empty.

Yelp
We went to Roselys for an afternoon tea. It was a good experience. The service was good. The food was not so bad. It was very filling. Great tea as well ! Overall good experience.

Yelp
Dinner here was awesome! It's inside the Queen Elizabeth hotel (at least I think that was the name) and is right next door to Marie Reine Du Monde basilica. The view from where we were eating was great! Food portions were not small and I believe their were very fairly priced. Some other reviews complained of the pricing, but I thought $34 for the halibut dinner plate was more than fair. My friend got the special of the hanger steak and it was delicious too. Glasses of wine were ehhh priced, but not horrible. Based on the view alone this place is a must see!!

Yelp
Went for afternoon tea with my family, but was rather disappointed. This was not our first time coming here for afternoon tea, but it was the first time since the renovations. You are definitely paying for those renovations in the price of this mediocre meal. The quality has gone way down since I last visited. The tea was not even hot; it was barely lukewarm. There was an extra cost added on to several teas. You want sencha tea? Too bad, that'll be another $4-$7 on top of the $37+tx that you are already dishing out. The food was odd and very small. It felt like they were trying to be hip or edgy with their savoury/sweet macarons and salmon canapé the size of my fingernail, but it fell flat for my entire party. The scones were slightly larger than a Timbit and were also lukewarm. The Devonshire cream had been overly whipped or something because it had the consistency of cold butter. It barely had any flavour. Most of the sweets were overly sugary/rich, and made a few people nauseous. It did not help that the waiter did not tell us what any of it was, and was nowhere to be seen when we had questions like "Why is the devilled egg purple?" There was a menu, but the descriptions did not match the food on the tiers so that was equally no help. I'm sure there are people who will like the food, but we felt like we had wasted nearly $50 (mandatory %15 tip even though they did not deserve it).

Yelp
Happy Valentines! I so enjoyed the atmosphere having Lunch with an ole friend in this spacious new Resto. Trendy, open space and service was fantastic! Appetizer was Cream of Broccoli soup with a dash of crumbled bacon and tiny bits of cheese curds. Wonderful to the palette. My main dish was raviolis stuffed with ricotta cheese with tiny bits of butternut squash and walnuts. Tasty! Dessert was Tiramisu with a cappuccino. Definitely would return to explore other menu specialties. Pricey but a wonderful treat.

Yelp
I had brunch there with my meetups friends. Really a worth every penny brunch. Lots of food stations with different items that suit everyone. The carving station, the fruits station, the crepe and eggs station, the meat station, the desserts. Everything was excellent. Very affordable. 66$ taxes and gratuities included. It is a real deal and an excellent experience. Excellent food and attentive service.

Yelp
Had the Sunday brunch while visiting Montréal. It had to be one of the best brunch buffets ever! Not only were there numerous hot stations but the quality of the food was excellent! Service was even better!

Yelp
I was on a business trip to Montreal and wanted a nice place to eat dinner within walking distance of my hotel. Roselys fit the bill and appeared to have good customer ratings. I made a reservation and when I arrived I thought I truly made the right choice as a couple leaving was already making a reservation for another night that week! I was seated promptly, the atmosphere was pleasant with an active bar adjacent to the dining area. I waited quite a while to even be offered water and even longer before anyone came to take an order (the menu was viewed by scanning a QR code displayed on the table). My waitress seemed disappointed that I wasn't ordering drinks, just dinner, and then disappeared. I'm not sure if they had to go to the market to get the ingredients, but dinner took a very long time to make it to the table (I ordered the black cod). Although tasty, the serving was so small, I had to then order one of the appetizers (Foccacia slices) just to help a little with my appetite. Getting water refills also seemed to take forever and by the time my waitress appeared again, I finally got to order some dessert and coffee. The prices are quite high and this is not a place I'll be returning to. When I compare it to other options in the surrounding area that I visited on subsequent nights, this Fairmount Hotel-based restaurant needs to get its nose out of the air, get back to basics and improve customer service, food size and meal accompaniments. I suggest looking elsewhere.

Yelp
Honestly, I do not like certain French food seasonings, but I do enjoy French cuisine. I had escargot, in a rich sauce. I much prefer to have it without sauce in the traditional serving dish. The sauce was ok. The hamburgers seemed to be seasoned with rosemary, didn't enjoy that either. The bread was delicious, and the waiter made the best iced coffee I've ever had. He also substituted a medley of vegetables for my french fries that was very good. His service was exceptional. The menu was rather small. The decor was beautiful and cozy. The greeter was also quite nice. Surprised the food wasn't better.

Yelp
We ate at Roselys for breakfast during a recent stay at the Fairmont. The good: the atmosphere is beautiful and the staff who greeted us and showed us to our table were friendly. My husband ordered a crepe and enjoyed it. The bad: we weren't offered a coffee refill the whole time that we were there. I ordered avocado toast and it was extremely disappointing despite being a dish that is very easy to make. It wasn't topped with sliced avocado but rather that gross, pre-made guacamole dip that you can buy at Costco. It had the consistency of baby food and I couldn't eat it. In spite of the fact that I barely touched it the server didn't ask if it was okay or anything similar. To be fair, I didn't bring it up because I had to go to a meeting and just wanted to leave. It was the worst avocado toast I've ever had and it cost 20 dollars.

Yelp
I love this place. I've been coming here for brunch for a long time and it never disappoints. It was my first time for lunch and it was just as great. Upscale setting, good menu choices and incredible execution from food quality to service. Overall this is one of my favourite spots. Definitely a try.

Yelp
"Disappointing" in every sense of the word!!! Overly expensive, poor brunch food selection, other than possibly for millennials. No usuals or comfort foods except under-cooked, wet scrambled eggs, thinnest bacon slices this side of hell and cold sausages. Food is dull and bland, looking far better than it tastes. Staff totally unaware of food ingredients used, i.e. sushi, even though each one is assigned to a particular station. Also ran out-of-plates at the same station, but had to be told so before disappearing to kitchen for 10 minutes to get some. Requested cream instead of 2% milk for my coffee and it was brought 20-25 minutes later. Crepes (only plain ones) prepared by young lady whose only interest was fooling around with male staff and not noticing waiting customers. Many weird selections. Cold cucumber, melon and coconut soup sounded great in principle but tasted awful. Hash browns tasted like fish; many items were lukewarm, at best. Greatly inflated prices ($49 PLUS taxes PLUS gratuities) for no satisfactory returns! Will never return and advise all others to stay away.

Yelp
We decided to have dinner at Rosélys to give the post-renovation Queen Elizabeth a try. The restaurant is just beautiful, modern and sofisticated, but keeping an open kitchen as a cool touch. We had the octopus and the snails starters and then went for the "to share" duck. Starters were good, particularly the snails, which had a great mix of flavours and a touch of orange that really made it special. But the duck really surprised us. Starting with the size of the portion, much more generous than expected. And delicious!!! I don't know how I found some room for dessert, but I'm glad I did. Usually I'm not a chocolate chocolate chocolate person but at this place they give it a touch of lemon that makes it absolutely perfect! Overall, it was an excellent dinner!
