Rosewood Bar Review - Midtown Village - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Rosewood is the kind of place where they have Death Becomes Her playing nonstop on the gold framed TVs while Aaliyah plays in the background. They share a wall with Woody’s, so you can easily transition between both scenes. Rosewood is much more chill than Woody’s, though, with flowing couches, chandeliers, and deep leather booths. The drink menu is full of things like passion fruit and peach bellinis, Thai chili margaritas, and their version of an Old Fashioned that includes bourbon and cognac. While it looks like just another trendy bar, it’s actually a place where anything can happen—whether that’s staring at Meryl Streep for four hours straight or making a bunch of new friends with people who are doing the same." - Candis R. Wanted to check this jawn out, since it's labeled as the famous invincible bar, it's definitely a cool retro/ old skool spot with friendly service. Wasn't busy, but the peoples that were there were cool. It could use a newer jukebox like touchtunes but otherwise a cool spot.

As a first time coming to Philadelphia I’ve decided to come across rose wood with my three family during the game time & was treated like trash! I did not like how the guy & one lady was taking to one of my family members it was a bunch of confusing all we wanted to do was watch the game with them we had no problem buying drinks & food which we told them but after being treated & talked like trash they said it’s over the capacity which we understand but how we was treated was crazy the energy I got from this situation is giving they didn’t want any black people there so if your African-American don’t support this business.

PHILADELPHIA, PA: Rosewood Bar is popular with the locals of South Philly and we are happy we discovered the place because they are dog friendly! Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed to join you inside for a drink from the full bar and there is even a selection of treats for the pups. Sit at the circular bar to watch the game or go in the back where there are tables and a couple of digital games.

Apparently they're closed at 11pm on a Sunday night?? Took an expensive Uber to get there from my hotel (says they're open online), looked for an entrance but the place was dark, no open sign in sight... Perhaps I missed it?? Then I waiting about 45 minutes in the freezing cold for another pricey Uber because they kept cancelling (which wasn't the bars fault, but it was definitely the icing on a wonderful experience...)

Was not a fan of this atmosphere. The bar seats were ripped and seemed dirty. Drinks were fine but it just didn’t seem clean.

Awesome place to relax. Most definitely not a "gay bar" but nobody gives a rip about it anyway.

Google
Not what we thought but the people were friendly and worth a stop in for one,

The description on google says this is a gay bar, I think they have it mixed up with a place in center city. Classic southPhilly bar with the most south Philly people you’ll meet. Cheap ass drinks, great place.

Yelp
Popped in for a couple beers before dinner at Heavy Metal Sausage Co and liked it. No frills beer bar. Worth checking out.

Yelp
One of the best old bars in the city. Cheap beer, nice people, and great atmosphere!

Yelp
Classic neighborhood joint in South Philly. Opens at 8 AM. Be there or be square. Consider black tie.

Yelp
Great nostalgia type place. A little bit of everything here. Seems like it is definitely a local bar and have completely gotten away from the INVINCIBLE movie. Bartender was nice. Would have loved if it didn't smell like smoke inside, AND EVEN BETTER if the drunk guy at the bar didn't have his half burnt cigarette just sitting there

Yelp
Not for Hipsters. I've been coming to this bar when I am in the city for about 10 years. Before I go on I should probably point out that this bar is NOT for the hipster community slowly infesting this incredible South Philly neighborhood. The bar is old, untouched, and there to cater to the locals (not hipsters, they will never be locals) who are regular patrons of this bar for the simple fact that it is a neighborhood corner bar where you can get a shot and beer at a fair price. It is a smoking bar, one of the few legal ones left in Philly. You are going to get treated exactly the way you deserve to be treated, that is going to completely depend on you and your demeanor, which is another quality I admire about this bar. For those who like to speak about the old bartenders who don't remember your drink orders, this bar isn't for you. They are all great people, with great personalities, who would do anything for anyone in need, and if you do not understand South Philly and the neighborhood you are either now living in or visiting then you probably shouldn't be leaving a review critiquing a neighborhood corner bar within it. I no longer live in Philly, but find time to visit my friends and family when I have time off from work. I will absolutely be going to the Rosewood on every visit I make to the city because although it is just a dingy corner bar with no flare to many, it is home for me.

Yelp
Isn't there a difference in being a down to earth place for real people...and being a place were they put hate on someone because you instantly assessed that they don't fit in...ESPECIALLY if they are injured and seeking shelter while awaiting for their Grandma to come take them to the hospital, trying to throw them out, then hanging up on them when they call to talk about it...maybe you should change the name to "Dicks" ?

Yelp
Awesome local bar, good people, reasonable prices for all drinks. Very friendly, for locals and visitors, would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Yelp
This is the bar from Mark Wahlberg's movie "Invincible". People on here will give this place bad reviews bc the Rosewood does NOT cater to the Hipster crowd. These "new type of South Philly residents" expect every bar to be the same and are surprised when any establishment does not welcome them with open arms ! The Rosewood is one of the few neighborhood bars left for locals. Customers there mind their own business and don't need 70 different beers on tap with a famous chef in the kitchen. It's a place where you can go and just hang with friends...without hearing the loud, politically correct, narcissistic hipsters talking next to you !

Yelp
A great real bar with real people! Smoking is allowed! I highly recommend sitting down for a beer and watching a ball game.

Yelp
Painful experience all around. Waited close to 15 minutes for bartender to even acknowledge us. There were only a handful of people at bar. No smile, no hello. Then another 5-10 to get 2 drinks, he had to come back and ask what the beer was that we ordered and he got the drink wrong. I realize it just opened but some acknowledgment of the wait or friendliness would have been really nice.

Yelp
Can't even begin to tell u what a piece of crap this place it's .bartenders are rude place is disgusting my two daughter were there the other nite the only reason then went in was because one of them fell and broke her foot as they were waiting for me to get there to take her to the hospital the bartender told them they needed to leave and that there mother wasn't coming cus she didn't care about them. I believe the real reason was because they had no money on them and were not buying drinks I called the next day to complain and was hung up on. I'm sure this review will not stop anyone from going here and that is because no ever goes here like I said before this place is a sh*t whole and the rude ppl in there may this happen to one of ur granddaughter ( considering the bartenders r old ) and they get treated the same way actually I don't really wish that on them because i won't want anyone to b treated like that
