Rosie's is located smack in the middle of Ptown. There is a big menu board to the left on a building wall, and there is a window with an employee and a cash register. You place your order there and pay. When the food is done they will call your name. You can either take the food to go or there are a couple of picnic tables lining the length of the building that you can sit and enjoy your meal. The tables are shaded / protected from the sun.
I tried to ask the man in the window questions like what he would suggest he what his favorite meal was, but he didn't seem to understand me. So I ordered the "Our Famous Enchiladas" for $13.50. I also ordered chips and salsa for $7. All to go.
When I got back to where I was staying I opened the food up. I was a little shocked to see some unexpected things. The chips were fried, and they were like tortillas cut into triangles but they were stacked so when they were fried, all the chips were fried into one tall stack. They were lacking any flavor other than fried to me. The salsa was chopped fresh veggies, which is all good, as long as you love jalapenos. The salsa I found to be much too jalapeno forward. But I did love the freshness and the cilantro. If I ever go back I would just skip the chips and salsa, to me it definitely was not worth the hefty $7 cost.
Now onto the main course, Our Famous Enchiladas were not famous in my eyes. But I did enjoy the meal. My biggest take away was that I loved the red sauce that the enchiladas were covered with. I would imagine that the red sauce is authentic. And I loved it! The sauce is what made the meal for me. I wish I had ordered a side of that and had bought a bag of tortilla chips from the corner store on the way home. That would have made my meal perfect.
Overall if you are crazing Mexican while in Ptown I would suggest Rosie's. I do believe it is authentic. I would suggest knowing exactly what you want, not asking for any advice. I would also suggest skipping the chips and salsa. Unless you love jalapenos.
