"Rosine’s Restaurant is a sunny, casual all-day bistro with lots of cozy booths and many devoted locals. The menu is American comfort food hits, like barbecue ribs, French dip sandwich, and a towering, cheesy housemade lasagna. At brunch, the biscuits and gravy or eggs benedict, smothered in a velvety-smooth hollandaise, are your best bets. They’ve got something for just about everyone, so bring the whole family, even dogs, who may accompany their humans on the patio." - allison green, gabi moskowitz

Rosine’s Restaurant exceeded my expectations! I had the lasagna and chicken Alfredo, and both were absolutely delicious. The lasagna was rich, cheesy, and packed with flavor, while the chicken Alfredo was perfectly creamy with tender, well-seasoned chicken. The portions were generous, and the service was friendly and attentive. The cozy atmosphere made the meal even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back—highly recommended!

Really good food, and excellent service. We came with our toddler and they were very helpful with accommodating him and getting his food out quickly to stem his hanger. The food was so very good, and the fries had a great texture as well. I got the blackened blue cheese steak. The cakes are delicious but be warned, you can feed a Mediterranean city-state off one slice of rocky road cake. The service was across-the-board excellent. Would love to come back the next time we're in Monterey.

Really lovely family Italian restaurant in Monterey. The portion sizes are excellent, and they give garlic bread with pasta dishes. I had the pesto cream pasta and a side Caesar salad which were both delicious. They have a huge dessert menu that looked awesome too.

Came to this restaurant after seeing it on social media. The minestrone and lasagna 100% lives up to the hype. The minestrone kinda reminds me of the Hong Kong cafe tomato soup but the flavor is enhanced. Portions are pretty big and we had lasagna leftovers for the next day. Lamp shank and salad was decent. Hummus platter kind of tasted store bought but I’m not sure how good hummus can get so I’ll say it was pretty good. Overall a satisfying dinner!

During our recent visit to Monterey, we had lunch at Rosine’s Restaurant. It was a great experience, especially spending time with my family and allowing my little one to roam around the restaurant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and blackened chicken, both of which came with a tasty soup. While the soup was good, it would be great if they offered a vegetarian option. Additionally, instead of mashed potatoes, having rice as an alternative would be nice.Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Been going here for a long time with my family and it's never changed the quality of their food or service. My go to entree will always be their lasagna and garlic bread as it's always hearty and filling. I forgot the name of the slice of cake I got but I enjoy trying a different kind every time I go.

Stopped in and tried this location. The Cajun Seafood pasta (I didn't get a shot of this dish) was amazing and my slice of layer cake was delicious! The potato skins were okay. They could have used a lot more cheese to them imo though. My fruity cocktail drink could have been a bit stronger for the price as I felt it was a bit on the weak side but I'd come back again to try other items. The atmosphere was absolutely lovely and that dessert display rivals walking into Cheesecake Factory and seeing all the selections! It was a little difficult to know what the cakes were with no title cards but I pointed out the slice I preferred and it was a generous slice! :) I recommend the Cajun Seafood Pasta and a slice of whatever your favorite sugary confectionery is :)

Google
Food is very greasy and high fat. It felt like food from Denny’s yet more expensive. My meal came out on a dirty plate and my potatoes were completely charred. Idk how this place has such high reviews. With this amazing location and high traffic you should at least have a manager looking at the plates that are coming out of the kitchen, the wait staff should be trained to look at them too.

Yelp
We went for dinner and then breakfast the next morning. We attended a show at the Golden State Theater, (basically across the street) and stayed overnight at the Marriott (less than 5 min walk). For dinner we had the DDD famous lasagna, minestrone soup (omg) and one of the best chicken parm's I have ever had. So crispy and flavorful. I ordered a ceaser salad and requested anchovies, which they did not have. Kinda surprised, by that but ok. Service was fantastic, prompt and portions are large. We returned for breakfast the next morning and had a Bacado omelet (lacking in avocado) and chicken fried steak. Wow, delicious, and again perfectly crisp. We ordered cake slices to take home, carrot and caramel. The slices lasted us a few days, they are that big and oh so yummy! We will definitely return when in the area. Make sure to make a reservation on OpenTable, as they tend to have a wait.

Yelp
1/19/2025: We came for brunch on a Sunday morning. Getting into the restaurant was a bit difficult since there was a long line near the front where the hostess and the cake counter were stationed. It was very crowded since this seems to be a popular spot. The decor had an outdoorsy feel, which was a common theme around the area. Our waitress was nice and personable but hard to flag down later at the end of our meal for the check. I ordered one of the specials at the time: the crab avocado benedict. The eggs were overdone and not as runny as I liked. The side of potatoes and sliced fruit were good though. My friend ordered one of the special omelettes, and that dish was much better. I wanted to try the lavender lemonade, but they ran out, which was a shame. We also got chicken and waffles. The chicken tenders came cold, and the gravy was too salty. My other friend enjoyed her steak though. We also got two slices of cake and a slice of pie for dessert. They were huge slices and worth it for the price in our opinion. I personally thought they were all a little too sweet, but since we split them between five people, it was doable. We had leftovers for later.

Yelp
I come here often and never usually leave a review, but I was definitely disappointed. I've always been getting the seafood pasta with alfredo sauce and had no real complaints about it. But this time, the dish appears smaller and doesn't have any flavor. From the salmon to the sauce it was definitely not worth the $30 price tag for that one plate. Although the bread was actually good. My fiance got the chicken salad again it's chicken salad hard to mess that up. We also got the calamari and fries which is also a usual dish we get, but this time the calamari strips were alot thinner and portion appears less. I'm not sure if they are under new ownership or have different chefs working, but alot of things seem to have changed. Side note: I think you guys should close your doors while guess are dining. Lots of flies are coming in and can be seen in places where they 100% shouldn't be. Overall the service was good, wait times are short, ambiance is great. Great place for a last min date night or small family gathering.

Yelp
Get the chowder. Get the lasagna. Hearty and filed with delicious flavors, you simply can't go wrong. The service was fast and friendly but didn't feel rushed. The restaurant has a nice ambiance that makes you feel like you're treating yourself to a nice meal without breaking the bank. This was my second time here and I hope there will be many more.

Yelp
Rosine's has been a downtown Monterey staple for as long as I have lived in the area. It has amazing comfort food for breakfast that includes various egg benedicts and chicken fried steak and more. Also one of the few places to get a 8 am Bloody Mary. The service is spot on with several people assisting in service. I think even the owner was helping out. The restaurant is spacious with multiple tables and an elevated dining area as well. I recommend getting here early for a seating near the window. I also like the booths in the back as it creates an intimate spot.

Tim L.

Yelp
Love Rosines! Great Americana-type food and desserts. Love the open faced Turkey and Reuben sammiches. Desserts are huge...enough for at least two people

Eric T.

Yelp
Awesome place for brunch! All street parking but if it's a Sunday you can park in the green color curb. Else you may find a parking space a few blocks down (and about a ten minute walk from the wharf). We opted for outside seating to avoid the additional wait. Lot of variety and a good brunch size menu. The Clam Chowder was excellent and if this came in a bread bowl, it could've been a meal in itself. We opted for the Crab eggs benedict, the All downtown and the chicken tenders and waffles. The eggs was slightly overcooked as we were expecting the yolk to ooze out when we cut in to it, but overall had good taste and fresh. The Chicken Tenders and Waffles is not something I would order again. I was expecting freshly breaded chicken or homemade waffles. The Downtown platter was decent but if we have to choose one, we would stick with the Eggs Benedict.

Yelp
A featured establishment from Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives Season 20 Ep. 2, did not disappoint. Solo diner of 1, mosey on in for lunch on a Tuesday morning. I was seated promptly and the wait staff was phenomenal. My waitress was very warm and welcoming and allowed me the privacy and space to enjoy my time, but checked in enough to make sure all my needs were met. Since it's a DDD restaurant I had to try the Triple D featured items: Beef Minestrone and Lasagna, and they did not disappoint! The minestrone has amazing flavor and the shredded beef added a nice touch with a bit of cheese to balance it all out. My only critique of the soup was I felt like the zucchini was cut in larger chunks than what the rest of the contents of the soup were which made it a bit difficult to eat, but I like the addition. The lasagna was perfectly layered, nice balance of meat in the sauce and not too much ricotta mix. The garlic bread accompaniment was a nice touch. Great flavor and crunch on the outside but nice and soft on the inside, creating a nice bite with the sauce. To sip on, the Lavender Lemonade was highly recommended. I'm not usually a lavender flavor kind of person but they balanced the tartness of the lemon with the floral sweetness of the lavender, that I may be persuaded for future beverage selections. I wish I had room for desserts because the selection in the case up front looked amazing. I would definitely return. They had so many good looking things on menu, that I would love to try if I'm back in the area.

Yelp
We didn't have any reservations and I was able to just walk in and get seated upstairs at a booth. I came in because I was randomly in Monterey and wanted a crab Benedict and from pictures on Yelp it appeared that this place had them, however to my surprise, it's on on weekends, I think just Sundays, so I just ordered a drink. I was really craving seafood for brunch and didn't want to head over to the pier. I called two other places and they also didn't have any crab Benedict's and if so it's just weekends as well, and I don't eat pork and I didn't want salmon or veggie Benedict so I sat and looked at my options on their menu. I decided to get a drink while I figured out my next stop and came across this delicious holiday menu. I should have ordered two drinks because wowww this Christmas mojito was creamy and strong and delicious. They have a whole holiday menu of drinks and they did not disappoint at all. The inside was still decorated like Christmas and the vibes were holiday and warm. Service was great and attentive. I know if I don't come for food I can at least enjoy some good cocktails. This restaurant is super dog friendly on the patio and it was filled with dogs and owners which I thought was super cute. Cons: two individual bathrooms that are gender neutral and the line was pretty long and the wait was long too.

Yelp
Great food!!!! The chicken parm was so delicious oh my and it was such a huge portion I had tons of leftovers. My boyfriend got the steak and it wasn't as good but still cooked perfectly. There desserts looked delicious and seemed super popular but we got so full from dinner we didn't attempt to try it haha! Definitely homey style type food and since this is in a prime location in downtown Monterey it was packed!! Especially for a week day! I was a bit surprised. I didn't see much parking available unfortunately and we came here because it is walking distance from the Marriott hotel which is great! Also tons of great shops around it, dessert places, and a cool arcade place! Service wise they were okay they were fast and nice which is all that matters to me. Overall I was very happy with the food and atmosphere here!

Kenny N.

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch last weekend and was a little underwhelmed unfortunately. We couldn't really decide on a place to have brunch but we noticed that Guy Fieri had been here so we decided why not. Wife was craving a smoked salmon eggs benedict and this place seemed to have one, but it turns out that's just like a baked or cooked salmon benedict. Our fault for assuming, I won't blame the restaurant for that. I imagine since we're closer to the water, fresh salmon is meant to be cooked and not smoked. Didn't know. I myself got a crab avocado benedict. The crab felt fresh, but what do I know. Each benedict came with 3 poached eggs, but I think 5/6 of them were overcooked. The potatoes were solid, nothing to complain about there. And the service was good as well. Probably a solid spot for Italian or lunch, but didn't get a chance to try it. Maybe next time.

Marti L.

Yelp
Popular breakfast/brunch spot. We got here around noon and luckily it was a short wait. They have a big menu of breakfast and lunch items, also a seasonal menu. The turkey avocado mushroom benedict sounded good and that turned out to be a great choice. Plus they give you 3 eggs! Wow. It was such a hearty breakfast. The downtown was a simple breakfast combo with eggs, bacon/sausage and pancakes. Their cake slices looked amazing (~$10 per slice) and we said we would come back for it.

Yelp
As we were walking through the shops and looking for a spot to grab lunch we ran into Rosine's Restaurant and decided to grab a table. I ordered the Full Rack of Ribs and had plenty of leftovers due to the portion size! The service was great and the outdoor seating is great on clear day.

Robert B.

Yelp
I loved this place for breakfast! It's worth a little wait. Charming location and wonderful, yummy food! We sat outside with the puppy and just really enjoyed our experience here.

Pete R.

Yelp
While in town on vacation, we chose to have Rosine's for breakfast due to it's proximity to the aquarium and the dining hours. We came early to ensure good parking and many of the available street spots were already taken. We arrived before the restaurant was open and found ourselves to not be alone as there were a few other groups waiting. From the outside....it doesn't seem like much....but the inside is very spacious and they can accommodate big groups. The staff is very friendly and helpful, always checking to ensure that our needs were met. We ordered the Downtown, Jim's Special, the Turkey Avocado and Mushroom Benedict, and the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. I will say that while the food was good, there was nothing that really made the food or flavors really stand out against many other establishments. The one thing that does make it stand out that we didn't have the chance to try is their amazing display of dessert cakes and cookies. planted right in front of the door as you walk in, this is a very effective subliminal message that you like cake. That you love cake. LOVE cake. Sadly, we were unable to experience this display of awesomeness as we were not only full, but were headed to the aquarium and didn't want to have anything spoil in the car. Leave room for that cake.

Catherine Z.

Yelp
Delicious food! I really enjoyed the basil steak eggs Benedict. The service was quick too with minimal wait. The ambiance was quite cute with the Christmas decor up! Highly recommend

Fabi J.

Yelp
Tried the veggie grilled cheese sandwich, and I must say, it was so flavorful! The combination of avocado, fresh tomato, and crunchy red onion added a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Great place for outdoor sitting , or a cozy indoor dining. Service is always great and friendly. Rosine is definitely a must-try!

Madeline H.

Yelp
The sweet lady taking our orders was unforgettable--seriously kind. She joked with us, refilled my friend's drink, and made the restaurant feel welcoming. The entire place had an elevated diner feel, being really cozy and inviting with the case of cakes made in-house along with the restaurant's classy interior. I still remember the layered cakes that I wished I had room for after lunch. The honey crispy chicken salad was great--it was honey mustard forward, creamy, and the chicken (like the name suggested) was crispy. The fries were also very crispy on the exterior while maintaining both structure and the fluffiness of a potato in its interior.

Rose C.

Yelp
Great vibes for a dinner. The portions are gigantic so beware when ordering. Would recommend family style so everyone gets a little bit of everything. Lasagna and black and bleu steak are great!

magali b.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Rosine's for the first time on a busy Friday evening. When we got there they didn't have many tables available and the one table they did have was in an awkward spot right next to a couch. Which I didn't really like. It didn't take long for the waitress to come take our order and for the food to come out. The portion was bigger than I expected but the fettuccine Alfredo that I got was delicious. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan and he said it was delicious as well. We were stuffed but the cakes looked so good so we got one piece of the raspberry chocolate cake to share and we still couldn't finish it. But to be honest the cake did not meet my expectations. It was dry and tasted like any basic cake I could get at a grocery store.

Kevin S.

Yelp
If you're in the area, you definitely need to come to Rosines. Great service, amazing food with nice size portions, and affordable prices. Meals come with a soup or salad and the entree sizes are giant, we need to go bags for our meals. Make sure to save room for dessert or take it to go. Oh my goodness the dessert was so good. We got the peanut butter pie and I think we'll need to get another slice on our way back to San Jose it was that good. It looks like a lot of people come just for dessert and I don't blame them. This place is a no frills, casual sit down place that's great to go with families or out for good meal. Can't wait to go back

Nichole M.

Yelp
This was my first time eating dinner here and it was just as good as brunch! The server was nice and considering how packed it was, he was quick with taking our order and getting our food out! And we were a party of 10! We ordered a variety of food and everything was really good! Food is priced as expected. Not super expensive but also not super cheap. But they do give you really good size portions!! No complaints! Don't forget to get a slice of cake or pie to go to enjoy later at home!!

Maurine S.

Yelp
Big hype on this place due to Guy Fieri and Jay Leno having eaten there but sadly it's just a place that tourists like me go to just for that fact. Came with a large party and even though we had reservations it took some time to get seated. The waitstaff was nice but the food was not anything spectacular. Felt like they didn't need to try that hard now that they had the Fieri stamp of approval. It's a large restaurant with a casual vibe and surprisingly wasn't that noisy considering the amount of people inside. However, all of the food was just regular and nothing stood out that would make a return visit warranted. But I'm glad I tried it to check it out myself!

Dug S.

Yelp
Great restaurant... wide variety of food selections. Very friendly staff, and quick service. We were going to the aquarium, at 10:30 on a Sunday we got seated in 5 min, placed our orders, 5 of us and were on our way around 11:30. I had a burger and onion rings. The others four had breakfast, chilaquiles, pancakes, eggs, omelette. We all enjoyed the food. Large portions. Decent price point. Overall very clean, clean bathrooms. Place was busy but they get the food out quick. Huge cake, pastry , display, I wanted to try, but didn't have time. Definitely give place a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Mike P.

Yelp
This is a famous local spot. The setting is well decorated. Very welcoming and lit place. Family oriented establishment. The staff is fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. We had the chili egg puff which is probably my favorite dish. It was absolutely excellent. For me it was like a quiche and chili relleno mix. Super delicious. The chicken fried steak and eggs is a large serving so be ready to eat and the gravy smothered on top is amazing. The Italian omelette has their homemade sausage in it that has an excellent flavor and spice. This is an amazing restaurant. Very high energy and great vibe. Definitely want to try it out and take some cake or dessert home with you. Very very good desserts.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Here for a quick getaway and decided try Rosine's for Breakfast instead of going to my usual spot in PG/Monterey area. I was instantly greeted and decided to sit outside to enjoy the sun shine, also due to an unpleasant smell from inside the restaurant. Please take that with a grain of salt as I am hypersensitive to any smell out of the norm. The breakfast menu is not extensive but still plenty of variety to choose from. Decided to order the Belgium Waffle with scrambled eggs and bacon paired with coffee. The coffee was great and the breakfast was ok. Grant it I ordered a basic breakfast and while it tasted good, there was nothing that made it special and or unique. If you're from the San Jose area I would compare this to Flames restaurant. Known for their large cakes and large portions. This is probably a good family spot for the reasonable prices and good food.

Tim T.

Yelp
Outsanding Italian restaurant in downtown Monterey! The food is excellent. The service is almost always great. They have big french doors that open up for a breeze, bringing the outside indoor. We called around 2:30 for reservations for 14 and they sat us promptly at 6pm! I normally get the chicken parm, but tried the short ribs. They were tender, and seasoned just right. The gravy was the perfect consistency and the carrots were perfectly cooked. The brocoli was off- it was a little too sour/tangy. Everyone loved their meals and they even gave a cake and awesome candle for my nephew!

Kenny B.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous restaurant! We've been frequenting Monterey and Pacific Grove for over 22 years. Last year was the first time we ever came to Rosine's. We all loved our meals, my kids were crazy over it. This summer we came for our anniversary. We stayed at the Portola Hotel up the street and walked here. Dinner was amazing. I had the short rib, which comes with the most incredible broccoli and mashed potato. Just fork tender and bursting with flavor. Service was quick on a busy Saturday night and the food was delicious. We did make reservations, so I highly suggest that. The area gets really busy on the weekends. We enjoyed it so much we actually got breakfast the morning we left. The breakfast was also fantastic and service was fast. The sourdough French toast was fabulous and hearty. I couldn't finish it all and I'm a big eater. This is definitely on our Monterey rotation from here on out.

Richa S.

Yelp
It was a good experience primarily! Food was good, veggie options. Pretty Christmas decor. Server was ok except for when I asked for options dessert for a birthday and he said we don't just give those for free, when I never asked if it was free lol so that was a bit irritating but other than that overall good spot.

Michelle Gabriela B.

Yelp
Most of our table enjoyed their food! We were a large party and came in on a busy Saturday. We were seated in about 50 minutes with no reservation. Our waiter appeared promptly and got about 3/4 of our drink orders. We had a round of waters and one of the glasses our water came in had pink lipstick on it. It was not our lipstick as none of the ladies were even wearing lipstick, much less that shade. I sent the glass back and no apology or even a blink from the waiter when I told him it was dirty. We got our food and we notified a staff member that they forgot to take the rest of our drink orders. Guess what? The same glass (or another glass, who knows) came back to our table with the lipstick smudged. At this point I looked at one of our family members and he also notified the staff that we had just sent back a water glass for having lipstick marks on it and they literally sent it right back. We held the glass hostage at that point as they tried to take it for the third time so that we wouldn't get it brought back to our table. Again. We proceeded to finish our meal, ordered plenty of drinks. No acknowledgment from our actual waiter or anyone else for that matter on the dirty glass. We understand a busy night and the food is good. But some areas definitely need improvement. Would we go back again? Maybe.

Cynthia L.

Yelp
We had a large party and they were accommodating and provided such great costumer service. Food was amazing and fast service as well.

Elaine N.

Yelp
We stopped by Rosine's for brunch on Saturday. Our family of three with our dog were seated within 10mins in the outdoor area. We started off with a Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini which was delicious and Pineapple Juice. For food we ordered the Chicken Parmesan served over fettuccine which came with a side minestrone soup. The chicken parm was what we came for and it delivered! The minestrone soup was the best minestrone soup I've ever had (apparently it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives). We also ordered the Chicken and Waffles - basic chicken tenders served over a waffle with house gravy sauce. The dish was good, but paled in comparison to the chicken parm and minestrone. Overall we had a great experience - good food and drinks, dog friendly, and awesome service. I would dine here again just for the minestrone soup.

Carrie Z.

Yelp
A great homestyle Italian restaurant in Old Monterey! Flavortown, indeed! Entrees include soup or salad, so we got straight to business. Chicken parm with their famous minestrone, and lasagna with a green salad for each of us. Great flavor in a chunky, hearty soup along with a pretty standard simple mixed salad. All good so far. The entrees came out and WOW'ed us. Huge portions, including several pieces of garlic bread. The chicken was crispy and cheesy with a nice red sauce. The cream sauce on pasta side was also good. Tasty without being too heavy. The lasagna was really meaty and nicely layered. We got through maybe half of each main dish? You have to save room for all the desserts! All delicious and homemade. We got the cherry chocolate cake to go, knowing we'd never finish the HUGE slice. Loved this spot. A can't-miss restaurant!

Karen D.

Yelp
Stop here and go no further. The minestrone soup- excellent The lasagna- delicious The service- friendly, prompt and top notch. The wine selection- could use some work More Paso Robles wine and add Peroni beer.

Mypang T.

Yelp
It was so good, we went back twice! Best bang for your buck for quality, price, taste and portions! Portions are huge here. Plus Guy Ferrari ate here lol Dinner: Fettucine Alfredo: 5/5 for taste and price. Noodles cooked al dente. Sauce was creamy. I added broccoli and mushrooms and that elevated my dish. Truffle mushroom ravioli: 5/5 factor in the price, delicious. Bf loved it! Garlic bread: 0/5. Can't knock everything out the park. Filler. Save your stomach for the meal. Service: 4.5/5. Even tho they were busy, they were fast, prompt and great! We came back for brunch. Basil steak Benedict: 4/5. Really good hollandaise sauce. Main star is the pesto hollandaise sauce and steak paired well with the sauce and eggs. Very unique. Vegetable Benedict: 4/5. Standard, did the job. Generous with the mushrooms! I ordered a half order. Their portions are huge. Breakfast potatoes: 2/5. We didn't care for them. They were under-seasoned. Dessert: Red velvet cake: 3.5/5. Cake is moist, it's HUGE! Not our favorite because we are particular with our red velvet cake. It's more of a buttercream frosting than a cream cheese frosting. Chocolate chip: 4.7/5. Try to catch it in the morning when it's hot n fresh. We heated it up at home... WOW. Better than Costcos food court cookie. Brunch service: 3/5. It wasn't as busy as dinner but day service was slower, maybe less staff? They weren't as friendly as night staff. Overall: 4/5 we would definitely return on our next trip!

Yelp
I've been going to Rosine's family-run restaurant for 40 years. Yes, 40 years! I realized that when I was there for lunch about two weeks ago. Whether it's breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, the food is always delicious, made with the best ingredients and generous portions. Two of my favorites: minestrone soup and fried calamari. And don't get me started on the desserts. Their made-from-scratch cakes are the best I've ever had...anywhere! The service is excellent. Friendly, competent staff. Some have worked there for decades. Shout out to Katie, my favorite server! The ambiance is friendly, warm and welcoming. It feels like home from the moment I walk in the door. Rosine (may she rest in peace) and her family have built a loving, nourishing legacy.

Yelp
Rosine's cakes are no joke. I ordered 2 slices to-go and it totaled for $24, which is more than fair given how large the slices are! This portion honestly lasted us for like 3 separate meals, lol

Yelp
We were excited to try another Triple D restaurant (IYKYK). There were 7 in our party. The wait to be seated was very minimal. The atmosphere seemed pleasant. The restaurant was full and the noise level was high, which should be expected with the restaurant being essentially one giant room. After being seated, we watched, in amazement, as huge portions of steaming entrees were brought out to various tables. Our server was nice. We ordered our drinks, which came out quickly and appetizers followed shortly after. The potato skins and hummus were exactly what we expected. Nothing was elevated and similar to what we could get anywhere. We ordered the entrees which seemed to take a while to come out. This was not an inconvenience because timing is always considered when preparing food for a large group. It gave us time to have conversations and share stories. When our food was brought to our table, we were excited to see the large portions once again. From there, our delight went to disappointment. The lamb shanks were difficult to eat. The meat did not cut easily from the bone. The hot beef (edited from previous post) was extremely salty. The Triple D famous minestrone soup was lackluster. The mashed potatoes and broccoli casserole was the highlight. The remaining dishes in our party were reported as "okay". The biggest let down was the follow up service. Our server disappeared. We weren't sure if she got busy with other tables or helping in the kitchen but no one ever followed up after they brought our entrees. No one came to refill our drinks, they remained empty. The manager, Justin, spent most of his time at the front door hovering over the hostess. Perhaps if he spent more time checking on customers and supporting the servers by refilling drinks or bringing food out, he could ensure customers were well taken care of. The hostess seemed competent and there weren't tons of empty tables that needed filling. He looked like he was doing a lot of running around in the front doing nothing. I come to Monterey at least annually looking for new dining experiences and places to recommend to colleagues. Rosine's will be low on my list.

Yelp
The espresso martini was perfection. Chef's kisses. Rosine herself made it for me. I would order again.

Yelp
Guy Fieri is never wrong. Except with clothing, accessories, style, vocabulary. But not about food. He raved about their Italian food, and the bakery goods looks insane, but I got breakfast. My breakfast was amazing. Tasty, fresh breakfasts are usually small, but this was delicious and gutbusting. The potatoes were crispy. The omelette was cheesier than Guy Fieri. Great location, good selection, nice atmosphere, and good service. When I complained that the tiny bowl of tomato soup that accompanied it, they informed me it was catsup.

Yelp
Rosine's does it right. Greeted kindly when you enter. Wait staff on point. Just a well-oiled machine. A kind farewell when you leave. Good folks with a pride in the business. I appreciate that. My wife had the eggs and ham steak. Unbelievably good ham. Heck, we could have shared it. The steak was huge. I had the eggs, sausage and french toast. Oh my God. The french toast is AMAZING! I've eaten here before Yelp and have always had a good meal. Comfort food to the max. Love this place.

Yelp
Omg amazing food. I ordered the minestrone soup and lasagna. Since that is what Guy Fieri ate. It was the best soup and lasagna that I've ever had. Good prices, friendly staff. Will be back for sure

Yelp
We went for breakfast on Saturday, back on Sunday, and then returned for soup and cake after our whale watching on Sunday. Just wow!!!! Calamari steak and eggs and then the pina colada pancakes, both super delish! Their clam chowder, and massive cake slices that we shared (and shared before I took a pic!)

Yelp
What's good: beautiful setting. Well priced menu. Good portions and good food. (We had brunch) What's bad: waitress came back with the check during our meal while we were still eating and asked "how are you paying cash or credit "? We all looked at each other like what??? Why are you here with the check lady???? Very poor customer service and I believe she was profiling us. Just made us super uncomfortable.

Yelp
It was a perfect afternoon in Monterey with sunny weather in the mid-60's. We decided to sit outside at the sidewalk tables with the sun on our backs. The wait staff was exceptional. Sometimes when you sit outside, you feel forgotten by the staff. Not here! We both ordered Faux-jitos. The concoction was refreshing! My partner ordered a Turkey Dip Sandwich and, for $2 extra, ordered a Caesar Salad. Normally, we would never order a Caesar Salad unless it was prepared tableside. Restaurants will use Sysco bottled salad dressing that should never be called Caesar! Not here! The dressing was made in-house and was perfectly balanced; not too lemony, not too fishy, not too salty, and not too sour. The crouton were made in-house and, again, were the perfect size and texture. The salad was dressed in the kitchen, and YAY, was not overdressed! I could have been happy with just that wonderful crisp salad, but wait... There was more! The turkey was house roasted and sliced, served on lovely sesame-seeded bread that I believe was baked in-house or, at the very least cake from a local bakery. My partner loved it! I ordered the Chicken Parmagiana served on angel hair pasta with marinara instead of Fettuccine Alfredo. This was not a breaded chicken patty from Sysco. Instead, it was a whole chicken breast that was coated with seasoned crumbs and deep-fried. It was run under the salamander to melt the provolone, and then perched atop the pasta. The dish was garnished with fresh chopped flat leaf parsley and a bit of EVOO. It was tender, juicy, and crunchy! The marinara sauce, made in-house of course, was perfectly balanced; tomato-ey, but not too acidic, and not too runny or too thick. I could only eat 1/3 of the dish but I brought home the leftovers for dinner tomorrow night! Rosine's is known for the fabulous layer cakes baked in-house. We were too full, and didn't think about taking a slice to go, darn it! Try Rosine's, and you'll be a lifelong customer like us!

Yelp
Ordinary breakfast location. Dine in area is spacious and there are a lot of tables and chairs. Service was good. The waitress tried to be friendly but she seemed very tired. Food is ok. Portion is pretty small and my toast was burnt (see pic), maybe more burnt than I expected or would like. Omelette was half the size I normally will get at ihop. My kid ordered an extra sausage, costs $1.50, and one extra egg scrambled cost also $2.50 but the portion looks like only one egg. Coffee taste watery and run down. Did not try their cakes, which looks so good though.

Yelp
Update 4/7/24 Rosine's Restaurant is a very nice restaurant a few blocks away from fisherman's wharf. The decor comfortable with a modern touch. The ambiance does not feel dated or classic. It;s one the local's favorite restaurants. The service was prompt. The staff works as a team. One staff member promptly takes our drink order. Then another staff member arrives after our drinks are served to take our breakfast order. The service was excellent, our coffee cups were kept full. Country Potato Skillet - 5/5 This breakfast selection comes with country fries with fresh sautéed spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers and onions, topped with avocados. I ordered the over easy eggs as an extra. Together, this was a very flavorful breakfast selection. The ingredients were all proportionally mixed together to make a savory breakfast. The fried over easy eggs mixed in the potatoes skillet elevated the flavor well. I would order this selection again. Crab Avocado Benedict - 5/5 You get crab, avocado, three poached eggs on a toasted english muffin, and house made hollandaise sauce. The eggs were poached perfectly , and you get 3! The crab and avocado with the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce gave a satisfying, comforting flavor. A highly recommended dish. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Rosine's and will revisit again when we visit Monterey. I highly recommend giving Rosine's restaurant a try.

Yelp
TDLR: It's comfort food at its finest. A restaurant with options for all diets and service that your mom would appreciate. Rosine's is a place I'd gladly go back to if I lived anywhere near it or if I was passing by. Rice and Turkey soup: Clean broth loaded with vegetables, an okay amount of rice, and a good amount of Turkey. It reminds me of a well made chicken soup but its purpose is to ready your stomach for the coming meal. Beef Minestrone Soup: I normally do not like Minestrone, but I LOVE this one. I don't think I've ever had anything like it. It's almost like I was eating beef stew with minestrone additives. It's a must order and the restaurant makes it clear that you shouldn't skip this either. Lasagna: It's a good portion for the price. Taste wise, it doesn't really jump out as anything unique, but they did a good job from start to finish. Pasta sheets are cooked well, the sauce had a warm and hearty flavor, and the protein wasn't just ground meat and you could feel solid chunks while eating. The bread was the weakest part of the dish, but you're not getting this to judge the bread. The bread is there to scoop up whatever sauce is left and it does that well. Seafood pasta with added steak: The steak was overcooked by 1-2 steps more than I'd like. Regardless of this, it's still a good piece of meat that was seasoned nicely. Pasta comes with 3 sauce choices (tomato, cream, or mix), opted in for the mixed to see how they manage the balancing act and they nailed it. Pasta itself was Al dente and they didn't skimp out on the seafood too. Salmon was good, the shrimps were huge, and the rest of the ensemble was appreciated. Short rib: Short rib itself was tender and would offer little to no resistance from cutlery. The red wine sauce balanced well with the fatty nature of the meat. The mashed potatoes were unremarkable, the carrots were sweet and offered a good contrast from the meat, and the vegetables baked in cheese were.... Interesting. The cheese used was on the pungent side, so eaters who aren't a fan of the borderline "spoiled" taste should skip on the baked broccolis. Chocolate cake: It wasn't bland and it wasn't too sweet. I don't know what else to say about it. Service: 5/5. Your mom or grandmother won't complain. Ambiance: I am a big fan of the small to medium sized restaurants that don't stray away from the environment that it sits on. Old red bricked walls to compliment the "Main Street" feel of where it's located. Vintage design that leans into the fact that it's been there for a while but doesn't forget to clean up and modernize here and there. Art and photos scattered around the restaurant that's unique yet gives a feeling that it belongs. I need to go to more restaurants like this.

Yelp
OK so I would give this place a four star for service but five star for food combined definitely a five! I think service is great because the people are always friendly. They always have a smile very welcoming and so accommodating which you expect in a restaurant. The food is great the location I think is amazing always sunshine always busy. It's just a great location all around. I do have to rave about their blueberry pancakes and their cakes and pies they are to die for I absolutely recommend this place if you are in Monterey it is on Alvarado Street and it is one of the busiest places for breakfast that I've seen so far in the last four monthsdefinitely worth the visit
