"The architects transformed this heritage structure, a splendid 17th-century Baroque palazzo, into Rosselli – AX Privilege, developing no fewer than six distinct looks for the hotel’s 25 rooms and suites. It’s a much-needed dose of high design for Malta’s capital city, and a hotel that makes good on its promise to deliver an experience you won’t soon forget." - Mitchell Friedman

"Why we love it: A five-star stay that brings serious swank to Valletta The Highlights: - Personal butlers who attend to guests’ every need - A lavish design with lots of marble, velvet, and leather accents - An acclaimed three-in-one restaurant serving Mediterranean food with a French twist The Review: Opened in the spring of 2019, this five-star property comes courtesy of AX Group, which owns six other top hotels in Malta. Beginning at check-in with a friendly greeting (and a glass of prosecco) from your personal butler, everything at Rosselli is top-notch, from the design to the service to the amenities. The on-site restaurant Grain is actually comprised of three different dining areas: Street serves French and Mediterranean small plates, Under offers a more formal menu, and Over, located on the hotel’s rooftop, is perfect for drinks with a view. There’s also a lounge area with a restored fountain, an outdoor pool on the fourth-floor terrace, and the opportunity to book in-room massages after a long day of touring the island. The hotel occupies a 17th-century palazzo that was once home to husband and wife Pietro Rosselli and Alusietta Massa. The couple’s family story and crest inspired all of the guestrooms, which feature richly colored textiles, marble accents, plush beds, and bespoke Italian furniture. The Don Pietro room even boasts a wellness enclave complete with a private steam room, rain shower, and indoor terrace, while the palatial Sixteen 34 Suite, named after the year Pietro and Alusietta were married, includes a traditional Maltese balcony and working lounge with a boardroom table."
"The Rosselli Hotel is a beautifully restored 17th century palazzo – the former home of one of the Knights of Malta – situated on Merchants Street, in the heart of the capital." - Le Guide MICHELIN
We stayed here for three nights and loved it. We had room 001 which was up a few steps but we found it comfortable, great shower and bathroom products. Tom spent ages telling us about Valletta and the hotel and recommended places to eat (we tried two of them and they were excellent). Lizet served us several times and was charming. All the staff we met were very helpful and polite. The breakfasts are great, no buffet but everything freshly prepared and very high quality. We had dinner in Grain Street one evening and the food was fantastic. Spent some time sitting upstairs near the pool (well, it is really a plunge pool and on the day I swam in it it was icy cold - very refreshing). It is a very comfortable area to sit in the sun. I chose this hotel as it was central and we would be able to walk everywhere, also British Airways did a deal with flights and I am very glad that I did. Would certainly come back if we visited Valletta again.

A modern boutique hotel in the heart of Valletta. It has an excellent restaurant and friendly and attentive staff. The hotel occupies an old palazzo which explains its quirky layout and some rooms not having exterior windows. Excellent and much needed air con. My only complaint was the ill lit bathroom with its odd over bath shower. The bath was shallow and saucer shaped with a curved base. Tricky when showering. I expect the room was designed by a man - the usual signs being no proper make up mirror and sockets and mirrors not lined up making hair drying tricky.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of Valletta. There are many bars around it but once you are in your room all is quiet. The only criticism I have is that the bedrooms can be quite dark and we were short on storage.||The roof top plunge pool and bar added a chance to chill and relax after days of sightseeing, very welcome. ||All the staff were fantastic, breakfast had a great selection and the portions were huge. Big shoutout to Katho who really bent over backwards to provide everything we needed and more.

This hotel is made glorious by its amazing staff. All of them. Checkin, staff at Under Grain, the incredible breakfasts ( Katho is delightful but so are all of the staff, frankly ) and the way that the staff go out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need. We were upgraded to a duplex, but I have to be honest, that spiral staircase frightened me, especially in the night! Next time I will opt to stay in a room on one level! But there was always fresh water, chocolates, a bottle of wine - what service. We didn’t try the pool etc but we did eat at Under Grain. We had the chef’s surprise tasting menu and it was stand out fantastic, again, underwritten by the wonderful staff. The wine pairing of mostly Maltese wines was more of a mixed bag but it was excellent value for a try-out. I cannot praise the breakfasts enough. The choice was overwhelming and invariably superb.|In short, the hotel is in a fantastic location, it’s beautiful inside, and I think they have some of the best staff I have ever encountered in a hotel, anywhere. Thank you for a truly lovely four night break.

We had a basic room, but it was spotless. The decor is different but pleasing. We have tea and coffee facilities plus a fridge in the room. The bed was really comfortable. Despite our room being at the front of the hotel, noise was not a problem. The air conditioning was also quiet. The shower was large and easy to use. Our "butler" was very friendly and looked after us well. In fact all of the staff we met were helpful and friendly. On arrival we were greeted with a welcoming drink. ||Our negatives are few. The wardrobe is not tall enough hang a dress. The on/off switch for the AC is very bright and green and lights up the room. The wall light opposite the bathroom has a very large cover which both of us whacked with our heads in the night. It is too low. Cupboard space for storing clothes is too high.||But we really enjoyed our stay here and would heartily recommend it.||Visiting Under Grain is also highly recommended.

Great location, right in the centre, all the staff were excellent, breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and the service from Katho and the restaurant team was superb. We were made to feel very welcome & the staff were the reason we enjoyed our stay. ||We stayed for six nights and our room was a Superior room, it was poorly designed with nowhere to hang long clothes, very little storage space, it was dark & crowded with impractical furniture. The sink was unnecessarily big with taps too far away & nowhere to hang a towel. We felt the room was ‘designer’ at the expense of practicality, if you are staying only one or two nights this might not be an issue.

Beautiful hotel in the centre of Valetta. Staff are wonderful and helpful. Rooms are very modern and sound proof which is good given the locality. Lovely little touches including night time water and a lovely chocolate in the room with beds turned down. Large beds, we slept well every night.|The only area of concern was our first room; we booked a delux which was overall lovely apart from the glass wall in the shower/toilet. When a person needed privacy there was none. I highlighted this as an issue and we were given an upgrade to a superior room with a bath and overhead shower and more importantly privacy. Tom assisted us to move rooms without fuss and I wasn’t made to feel uncomfortable. Tom also helped us get the most out of our holiday by recommending places to visit. |This is a perfect hotel for a short City break. Thank you and Happy Easter to all Rosselli staff.

We recently had the absolute joy of celebrating our wedding at Rosselli – AX Privilege, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of magical. We also stayed for two nights at the hotel, and those days will remain etched in our hearts forever.
This hotel is truly world class. Every detail exudes luxury, elegance, and comfort. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff are beyond exceptional warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making every moment special. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and their care and hospitality made us feel incredibly supported on such an important occasion.
Our wedding day was perfect in every way. Far beyond anything we had dreamed of. The venue itself is breathtaking, beautifully blending classic Maltese charm with modern luxury. Every corner of the hotel is thoughtfully designed, creating a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere that made our celebration feel truly unique.
The food at Grain deserves special mention – it was absolutely incredible. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece. It added another unforgettable layer to an already perfect experience.
To everyone at Rosselli – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You helped create memories we’ll cherish for a lifetime. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If your looking for a special occasion or a luxurious getaway, Rosselli will exceed every expectation.
