One of the Best Bakery on the Lower East Side, I wanted a simple Sweet Sixteen heart shaped mint green cake for my Amazing Daughter. The cake was everything my daughter and I asked and wanted.Thank you Rossy and Team.

You get a full plate of chicken, rice, beans, and plantains. $3 for one of these fat Empanadas too. Legendary. I’m a rotisserie chicken snob, so I’d be lying if I said this was the best chicken I’ve ever had, but it was pretty damn good. It’s a clean meal that brought me back to homeostasis. I’ve been going to Rossy’s for years. Her food is authentic and delicious. I recently got a Dominican cake for a birthday and it’s honestly my favorite. It’s half guava and half crema. She does an amazing job making Dominican cake. I also got a cheese and chicken empanada which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I’ve ordered food from her countless times and it’s always delicious and affordable priced.

Rossy made the most beautiful and delicious guava cake for my niece's baptism. There were so many details and touches that she added to make it extra special. Muchisimas gracias!

This place is a rare gem. Simple, old-fashioned, high-quality, homemade Caribbean/Latino classics, excellent empanadas, plus a whole world of baked goods. Friendly service. Everything’s good. I stopped by Rossy's Bakery specifically for tres leches cake, one of my favorite cakes in the world. Theirs did not disappoint. They offer strawberry and caramel tres leches cake flavors, each for $6 a slice. I had also wanted to try their pineapple cake and guava cake, but they were not available and would have required waiting an extra hour. I ultimately ordered the strawberry tres leches cake, which was terrific. It had a very strong vanilla taste in the milk-soaked sponge, as well as a generous amount of strawberry jam and whipped cream. All very decadent, but scrumptious. The cake slice was an absolute hit with my kids. The staff was very kind and patient with answering my questions. Even at around 3PM they were doing a steady business with their late lunch service. They offer what appeared to be reasonably priced small- and large-sized hot Dominican meals, with fish priced slightly more. I would definitely return to try their carrot cake and other Dominican pastries.

Fresh, homemade, authentic food! This little gem of a spot has been feeding LESer's, tourists and wanderers good, decent food for the past 15 years at reasonable prices! It breaks my heart that they are now "on the market!!" WE CANNOT LET THAT HAPPEN!!$. There are very few spots like Rosey's left that you can run in, get a hot coffee, sandwich or plate of food with delicious cannolis, cakes (my favorite pineapple) etc. done with a Dominican flavor!! I'm Jewish but my belly knows what's good!! Please go, tell your friends and family, and let's keep Them going!! They deserve it!!! WE DESERVE IT!!!

Lowkey Dominican restaurant serving delicious food at an affordable price. It's not the best Dominican food in the city but if you are in the area and want a cheap comforting meals, definitely check this place out

Ordered my wedding cake from here. It was a two layered cake with the top layer being fake. It was a dulce de leche & guava cake. Everyone loved it and we were so happy with how it was designed. They won't deliver the cake to you because its a small mom & pop store but its the best Dominican cake you're going to get period.

Their food is 3 A's: Authentic, affordable & amazing! The staff are all so down to earth and helpful too. I feel like this is a hidden gem in East Village area, I'm so happy to come across it!

Love them. In my old hood. Staff is really nice... they are always about customers. FOOD is PRIMO!! TRADITIONAL Latin fare for all to enjoy. Ribs, chicken, cod fish.... along with rice and plenty of other sides. It's My Mami's favorite and she's 88 years old and NEVER likes eating out. She's traditionally a lady who believes in home cooking. But the food here is Supreme. Maybe I'm partial since this is in my old neighborhood... maybe.... but my honest opinion is you cannot get better service.. the staff is great... and the food is fresh, tasty and memorable. And They deliver!!!

Great little spot to grab a decent plate of food for a decent price. Food is good but not fantastic. Yesterday I ordered steak with white rice and pernil with arroz con gandules. Rice was pretty yummy but the pernil was very salty and just had a different taste to it that I'm not use to. I would have given them a solid three and a half stars but as you may already know, Yelp doesn't allow half stars. The space is nice but way too small which makes for uncomfortable dine in eating. Plus, it gets hot and I can't eat and sweat at the same time. LOL Yesterday while I was here I also ordered a birthday cake for my son. Once I pick it up and actually taste it I will leave a review for that. The cake serves 25 people and cost me a whopping $125. Hopefully, it will be worth the money.

I personally loved the Dominican cake from Rossy. It has a marshmallow frosting. Never seen that and it worked. It was a beautiful cake. Moist and tasty. The empanadas and kuipes were really good.

I used to live in the area and went to this place basically every morning for their iced coffee and empanadas. I'm asian, so i can't say if they are authentic or not but their empanadas are DELICIOUS! I love empanadas so I've had empanadas from a lot of places in NJ/NY. Rossy's empanadas are the best! Just simple chicken&cheese and beef&cheese, nom nom nom :) I moved to bk last fall and have been craving Rossy's since then, and I stopped by when I was running errands in soho couple weeks ago. Everything still tasted the same and yummy. I took 10 empanadas and 3 donuts (the donuts are AMAZING when they are freshly made) home w me and I was very happy for two days. I've tried their rice and beans, roasted chicken, beef stew, and fried plantains. They are all decent and delicious for crazy good price! I think they taste like home cooked meals. (again, I'm not Dominican) I'll stop by again sometime next year :)

Definitely one of my go-to places during my work lunch! I usually get the small lunch box and I leave this shop spending under $9! Especially if I do not buy their empanada. I am a fan of the empanadas (beef and cheese is my favorite!). I have yet to try some of their pastries like cupcakes and smoothies. They all look so delicious. I love their chicken dishes -- both the roast chicken and the chicken braised in tomato sauce (I think). It reminded me of the Filipino dish chicken afritada without the carrots and potatoes. I have yet to try their beef dishes. Their roast chicken is definitely amazing and the aroma of the chicken fills the whole place. The staff here is nice and service is efficient. I will definitely come back!

Wow I recently moved to the around area and I was looking on the map for a Dominican bakery since those are my favorite cakes for birthdays! I got yesterday a cake from "Rossy's" have to say the dough was a bit dry but anything else was perfect and not to sweet. By the way I was sad because I got there a bit late and I wanted to try their famous Chicharron , that was mostly gone wow WHAT A DELISH ABSOLUTELY AMAZING VERY WELL COOK AND TASTY YUMMY ILL GIVEN IN THAT 10 stars! MY FAVORITE PLACE FOR CHICHARRON SINCE YESTERDAY ON

I absolutely love this place. Rossy is extremely attentive, detail-orientated, and truly is a perfectionist. I ordered a cake for my 21st birthday and explained everything I wanted on the cake. She asked me questions to verify my details, and explained everything over again to me. I was allowed to sample the cake flavors, I picked pineapple, dulce de leche, custard, and guava to taste. On the top layer of the cake, I chose vanilla custard, and the bottom layer guava mixed with dulce. I even called a week before my pick up date to make changes on my cake. The outcome was so beautiful, my cake was absolutely gorgeous. My guests loved the flavors and the way the cake looked. A dominican cake that looks gorgeous and taste amazing! I call that heaven on earth. Also the cake stood strong in NYC summer weather! It withstood about 94 degrees fahrenheit weather!

Omg Rossy's going to kill me. Especially because I drove her crazy and it took me forever to write this review. I contacted Rossy about 10 days before my husband's surprise 30th birthday party in midtown Manhattan. I had this huge surprise dinner at Carmine's for about 15 people and just like the menu, I wanted his cake to be just as spectacular. I called her 10 days before asking for a ridiculous dulce de leche two tier cake to feed approximately 12-15 people. I wanted something spectacular. Rossy DELIVERED in a matter of days. But delivered like I've never seen anyone deliver. I absolutely adored her and she is now our permanent birthday cake baker. She's amazing and sweet and I will never leave her. The cake was spectacular and so delicious I had no leftovers after the party. Thank you Rossy! Sorry I took so long!

Really love this place. I meant to go to the post office a couple doors away. Did not know that it opens at 9:30 pm. The nice guy works at the cafe told me the post office has been open at 9:30 am for some time. He suggested that I can wait inside the cafe. I went inside, the cafe has a great vibe. It feels like everyone passes through here. . People getting drinks, food, have breakfast, buy take out, collect cake order. I had a green tea and a coconut cookie, for a grand total of $2.75! I intend to go back for full breakfast. Such a lovely place and friendly staff.

Incredible, hearty Spanish food. There's something so magical about rice, beans, and meat that just makes my heart sing. Real food for a very good price. The rice, bean, and meat dishes range from ($5-7) and they give you a TON of food. It's also amazing quality as well. This place seems like somewhere the locals frequent and I can see why. There's a very family oriented atmosphere and for the price, you can't beat what you get! The meat is tender and the beans seem as if they've stewed for hours. I also prefer the rice with pigeon peas to the white rice, though both are good. The combination of the three are incredible whichever way you swing it. In regards to the empanadas...THAT IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! My empanadas quest is over. They're light and flaky with meaty goodness trapped inside. Each empanadas is $1.25 and $1.50 if you want the meat and cheese option. Overall, incredible food. Highly recommend!!

This is the first time I've ordered from here and I have to say IT WAS DELICIOUS! I ordered a cake for my little ones birthday and it was super last minute. Told her exactly how I wanted it and she did it and more! It was moist and the dulce de leche filling is sooo good! Will definitely be ordered many more cakes here!

(Review is only of their cakes as that is all I have tried from them) I was told of Rossy's bakery after not being satisfied with the Dominican cake from various recommended bakeries in Washington Heights. I was a little hesitant about the authenticity of Rossy's since it wasn't in a typical Hispanic neighborhood but decided to give it a try since it was recommended by a very picky family member. Sometimes with cakes the dye can give the frosting a bitter taste so I was a little worried when I picked up the first cake and saw that the cake was completely covered in pink frosting (as opposed to being covered in white and just having accents of whatever color one chooses). Needless to say, from the 5 stars, I have been extremely happy with the cakes from Rossy's and have been going to them since. The cake is moist and tastes just right. The frosting (my favorite part of the cake) is neither too bland nor too sweet. They must have figured out a perfect ratio of dye to frosting because the dyed frosting tastes just as good as the undyed frosting. The past two years they have put more sophisticated flowers which I think definitely upgrade the look of the cake and makes it look more mature and grown-up friendly. Good Dominican cake is the reason I look forward to my birthday and Rossy's is able to make that a reality. I definitely recommend the Dominican cakes from Rossy's bakery :)

Excellent cakes, delicious food at reasonable prices. I had to knock off a star because ever since their renovation and adding a juice bar, for which Im extremely happy about for them!, there is always a long line nearly out the door just to order and you can't even walk in and window shop the food because its so packed. They will probably have to figure out how to expand their space even more now. I'll still keep coming back tho. Do not bring large groups! In and out!

It's about time I've made a review for Rossy's Bakery. Especially since they deserve it. If you're looking for authentic Spanish food this is exactly where you want to eat. Everything they make is good. It doesn't matter what you order. I've tried almost everything. By the end of the month I would have tried everything and I guess can tell you what I like best.l if that's even possible. But they do serve my favorite soup Sancocho and they make it better than anyone I know. Sorry mom, grandmom and all my aunts and uncles. And that's just the food. The deserts and juice bar are also pretty damn good. All this talking is making me hungry. Can't wait to go to work tomorrow so I can go have lunch there.....again.

I'm no expert on empanadas but these are definitely some of the best I've ever had if you ask me. I just tried Rossy's for the first time and I already know that I'll be back soon. I had the chicken and cheese empanada and OMG, it was so good. The outside was crispy but not greasy and the filling was super flavorful and had the perfect amount of cheese. It was also pretty big especially since it only cost 2$. I only tried the empanada but everything they had on the counter looked tantalizing, like the donuts in the glass case and one of the dinner platter things that someone else had ordered. It's hard to find more bang for your buck than at Rossy's, especially in this neighborhood. 10/10 would recommend!

Not only is the staff here super sweet and attentive, but their empanadas (chicken and cheese) have been high on my pregnancy cravings since I even found out I was carrying. I come here atleast once a week and don't see myself stopping.

One of the best empanadas I've had. Was very fresh, dough was crispy and not too greasy, filling was well flavored and not too much cheese which I appreciate. The prices are unbeatable-- super inexpensive for how good the food is. The guy behind the counter was very nice and on top of service.

I live above this place and it's one of the best deals in the 'hood. My favorites are the chicken soup and the different kinds of empanadas. Everything is super-cheap and comes in big portions. A delicious breakfast of two eggs, home fries, bacon or sausage and Latin-style pressed toast is only $5! The guava pastries, one of their signatures, are delicious and festive-looking. They also make elaborate cakes for special occasions. You can't get any more local than this as the place is run by a Latino family who live across the street, and the business received funding from the Lower East Side People's Credit Union down the street. So by eating here you're supporting a local mom-n-pop business AND the credit union alternative to greedy, corrupt big bank chains that are popping up everywhere in the East Village.

I have no idea what Rossy's is like during operating hours because I got my cupcake after it was closed. We were waiting in line to get into Nuyorican Poets Café on a Wednesday night. This cute guy is knocking on the front door and motioning to someone inside to let him in. As he slips through the door, I ask him--totally joking--if he's going to "get me a cupcake." A few minutes later, he ducks out and hands me plastic box with a vanilla cupcake inside! It only cost $1.50, and it wasn't bad. The other girls in my group shared it with me and weren't too impressed. But I would recommend this place because of the awesome experience that I had. It shows that the staff is not uptight and really cares about future customers. I will return!

As a foodie living on a college student budget, I'm all about filling but affordable and tasty food. This satisfies all three requirements. I ordered 2 large plates, one with pernil and the other with chicken guisado. The large plates are $7 each and come with rice and plaintains. Additionally, I had to try the chicken and cheese empanada which was just out of this world. Probably the best empanada I have ever had. This was all washed down with 2 juices: one mango and the other passionfruit. I was very, very pleased. The only negative I would say is that the large plate foods could be a little warmer when served and the pernil could be a little more juicy.

Came in around 1pm for lunch and saw that they had the usual fare of food, i.e. rice, beans, and 4-5 different meats for you to pick from. The combination just described costs $7, and like I mentioned in an earlier review I wrote for them, their portions are quite generous. The difference this time, is that I came at lunch time when I would hope their food is still relatively fresh. Might be placebo, but I found their food to be a tad bit better so I bumped up my 3.5 star rating to 4 stars instead. However on a negative note their food was quite saltier than I remember it to be. Either way, for the cost it's a good deal so I'll be coming by every so often to sustain myself.

Tip to the newcomers of the neighborhood: they don't have iced coffee but are very accommodating and mix hot coffee with ice. It's an Ave c classic neighborhood spot. For about $5-$8 dollars you can get an over filled lunch platter with mixed chicken rice and beans. My Tip: get a mix of empanadas to go. Easy to eat and filling is always moist - this is not an easy feat.

A great neighborhood place, and dirt cheap to boot. Empanadas are $1.25-$1.50, and they're really big (at least 6" across) and fried to perfection. They have pastries with guava, cakes, cookies, and all manner of delicious treats for $1-$4. You can stuff yourself silly and then buy dessert, all for less than $6... where else can you do that in Manhattan?

Got a quick dinner to stay and it was delicious. Service was friendly and fast, very attentive. Note, each day features special dishes and they can quickly go with popular demand. Pernil ran out, drats. Luckily we got two steak plates, beef and cheese empanada, a pineapple soda all for under 20$. The steak was delightfully tender and flavorful combining the rice. Excellent portioning too. On the side, the beef and cheese empanada was excellent. Crispy and gooey with plenty of meat flavor through each division. Plus, they kept churning fresh empanadas out after our order, and this was near 6:30p. With so much food, the delectable desserts on display will be enjoyed on our next visit, which we'll be back soon. Got each eye on the flan and tres-leches.

Hidden Gem Alert - Food is really good, the prices are recession friendly, and the service is courteous. I never walk on 3rd street but this time I did and saw a place with a sign stating empanadas for $1.25. I love empanadas and saw this place has a cheese one. So I bought one. I looked at all their other sweet stuff and it looked good and it was also economical. I thought my empanada was gonna be like Ruben's - extremely tiny. Oh no, this was a good size. LOVED IT. It was delicious. I think they should charge $3 for the empanada and I would still buy it. The place was big and clean. There was a happy regular there and the counter guy was really nice. Next time I will buy more empanadas. :-D

-Overview They are my neighbors downstairs-its a family owned establishment. Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with any of the staff...though they are soft spoken initially they have become good friends & welcomed me as a neighbor. Everything is so cheap and delicious! The baked goods reminds me in some ways of those that my family made my whole life- my grandparents & aunt owned a bakery before I was born. There is wifi with plenty of space to sit and work outside of the lunch rush. -Pastries/Coffee $1 coffee that's better than the bodegas...good iced coffee too for a bit more. $1-2.50 for pastries...slightly more for cake slices. A coffee and fresh baked coconut biscuit will cost you $2...you can't get a quick, decent breakfast/desert anywhere in Manhattan for that price! -Hot Food It's not made to order, but that they give you huge portions of comfort food for a low price! Rice and beans with plantains for ~$4 and a variety of meats beef, chicken, pork, goat and even cod fish for ~$7. Any plate can make 2 meals for a light-moderate appetite. Food is usually gone by 7 PM though so keep that in mind.

Although the food is pretty good here on most days, my review is not about the food, but rather, either an employee or owner, I am not really sure. Basically, she was one of the most rudest customer service people I have ever had to deal with. She became so GHETTO...Sorry, not sorry....Again, I am not sure if she is the owner or a relative of the owner or just an employee, but if she is not the owner, I feel very sorry for the person or persons that own this restaurant. There business is looking very bad as a result. I for one will never order from here again because of her. If she treated me this way, I can just imagine how she is treating the other customers. Very sad for who ever owns this place. OH, and if she is the owner....God Don't Like Ugly.

Outstanding coffee. Clearly yhe best coffee I've had in eons Staff was amazingly awesome,and friendly Delish Arroz gandules and chicken $8.00. Score. Took a couple of empanadas to go ; for the crew at home. Clean, small but they make the space work. Friendly,fair prices,great food. A hidden gem Worth the detour.

Great Dominican Cake. I have been using this place for years to buy cakes for all occasions. I even got one for a farewell party at my job and everyone LOVED it. Highly Recommend this place.
