Decadent bean to bar fair trade chocolate and wonderful cafe! With so many chocolate boutiques closing, it's so nice to see a new chocolatier pop up in the city. LOVE Roste, my family enjoyed a decadent chocolatey feast to our heart's content!
The goopy sipping chocolate is really rich and the flight is fun to try, great for sharing! The chocolate has different texture and flavor profile based on the origin. While Peru was the rarest chocolate, Indian was my favorite (no bias here!). We definitely experienced a chocolate overload after a few delightful spoonfuls, we threw in the towel and wrapped up the chocolate in little containers. The chocolate was great in coffee the next morning, the perfect mocha!
The Hot Chocolate is really sweet and 1/2 way through the cup, I threw in the towel and passed it down for others to enjoy. The Mocha is perfect and helps cut the sweetness of the chocolate. The frappuccinos looked tempting!
The Chocolate Tart is hands-down the best pastry! It's very rich and decadent. The brownie was a bit dry and very chocolately, 3 pounds of chocolate go into a batch of brownies! The chocolate chip cookie was very dry and stale and has a 2 day rule. Even after a staff member gave me a fresh one baked that day, it still didn't taste good. The muffin and the cinnamon bun were also a miss. No matter how many times I searched for the perfect bite, I just couldn't find it. The alluring pastries are deceptive - just go for the tart. Save room for the chocolatey drinks!
My trip wouldn't be complete without some chocolate bars to take home! The luscious hazelnut Gianduja nuggets are so soft and buttery, they literally melt in your mouth! I enjoyed them so much that my sister-in-law bought some for me after I flew back and gave it to me on a family vacation. The new white chocolate Matcha bar with puffed rice and coconut flakes was tasty and made for great gifts!
Roste is always a culinary highlight of my Portland trips, the chocolate is mouth-watering goooood! Wish there was a location on the East Coast in DC, can't wait to fly back for more chocolate!
