"After halting communal iftars during 2020 lockdowns and facing severe budget constraints, organizers began planning months in advance to revive Ramadan with an emphasis on economic and environmental sustainability. Weekly meals were redesigned to serve balanced portions in compostable to‑go boxes under the theme Ramadan Revive to curb food waste and stretch limited funds; portions will remain limited even when in-person gatherings resume. Leaders framed the changes as an ethical return to Ramadan’s spirit of moderation and community while using new technologies to broaden outreach.
