20 Top Fast-Casual Restaurants of Midtown Manhattan | Eater NY

"Bright Mediterranean flavors go into bowls, wraps, and salads, with protein options such as lamb meatballs, salmon kabob, and falafel and sides like couscous with currants or red cabbage slaw. The wraps, using stretchy laffa as the bread, are especially well-balanced." - Jasmine Ting

I parked my car in a garage next to this place and went inside assuming it's Indian. To my surprise it's not Indian but it's even better ad I'm glad I went in. The guy who helped make the bowl suggested a lot of options, not many people do that anymore. Definitely not in a busy Downtown like DC. Kudos to the guy. I had Falafel bowl (Build your own) and added lot of toppings to my liking. Also had spicy yogurt and hummus and topped off with croutons. Finished it off with their spiciest sauce. Loved everybit of the bowl and spicy sauce is to die for. Will try more options.

The "chefs street falafel" and gluten-free pita w roasted veg was delicious, perfect portion size, and made fresh on the spot. With a Mexican Coke =$ 38. Service from Ornela was fast and professional. Thank you, May, for considering switching gloves to make the gluten-free meal. Sorry, no pics... we were starved!

Google
Super accommodating and easy for my gluten, dairy, and nut allergies! I also avoid grains, which can be a challenge to find and still be able to fill up. Only the rice, corn, pita, and sauces were needed to be avoided. I got an extra protein and olive oil, and I was definitely able to fill up. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Music was a bit loud, but that's typical of a restaurant.

Google
We had a late lunch around 3pm and found this restaurant while we were walking around DC. Even at odd hour, the restaurant was busy and there was line to order. - harissa chicken bowl: delicious! The chicken was well seasoned and tender. The chick peas, pickled onion, and tomato were perfectly complemented the dish. - chicken roti & tahini pita: very good. The chicken was tender and there were lots of pieces in it. The pita was toasted yet still soft. The tahini sauce was creamy and the fixings complemented the dish perfectly.

Google
I got there and thought the chicken roti looked good, but I wanted steak. They were super nice and gave me steak on the roti, which isn't a normal option. All the workers were kind and smiling, very clean, very nice

Google
5 stars for 5 reasons! 1. The best thing about this meal is that it’s a kids meal! A lot of food! The chicken is tasty and rice was kinda hard but it was still yummy! Cucumber really compliments the whole meal. 2. The sauces were delicious! My favorite sauce is the roasted red pepper! Goes well with the rice and chicken! The mango was my second favorite and the tahini sauce was so watery, but still good. 3. Quantity for what you pay is insane! Kids meal included Pita! A lot for what you pay and worth the price. 4. Price is 5 dollars to fill you up is crazy especially in DC. 5. Pickup was on time and no wait.

This place is absolutely AMAZING!! I Came here my first time in DC after a long night of being grown AND FELL IN LOVE!!! I ate here everyday that whole week and anytime I am in the city! Fresh ingredients, robust flavors!! I cannot get enough!! JNH 💙🐰

Google
I had an AMAZING meal at Roti this past weekend. The falafel, pita, and harissa chicken bowl are unmatched. So upset I don't live in DC because I would be eating Roti every day. Friendly staff + great food + awesome atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I ate here for lunch when I was in DC for the Principles First Summit. It was super close to our conference hotel, the JW Marriott, and is also close to the National Press Club, Capitol Hill, the museums, and monuments. Quite a few folks from our conference either ate here or ordered to-go, which is available through their website so you won't have to use a vendor like GrubHub or UberEats. I had a Build Your Own bowl with falafel, which was piping hot and delicious- it was actually made while the staff built the rest of my bowl and then placed on top from the fryer. Even though it was my first visit, the staff was very patient with me. You can add as many toppings as you'd like, and I got the dressing on the side so I could try a bit- and because I couldn't settle on just one. The prices were fair for what was offered, especially in the DC area. I am deducting one star just because it was hard for a few of us conference folks to find silverware and napkins, and because the heating was out on the first floor. A large heater was out to help warm the building up, but I kept my coat on while eating and got out and back to the hotel as soon as I could. I hope it is repaired soon.

Yelp
let's start with the good: Roti is very fast, I've ordered online everytime and they usually have it ready in 10 mins (even during lunch hour in Metro Center on a weekday). not bad pricing for a bowl w/ pita and plenty of sauces. staff will always greet you which is a nice surprise for fast-casual in downtown, i see and appreciate yall now for the bad: I'm a sucker for brussel sprouts, but when I get them as a topping at Roti, they are raw and either unwashed or just unusally spotted-brown; I'd advise against ordering them as a topping/side. was also disappointed as a vegan that the chickpea salad had feta in it. I've gotten it in the past and it never had feta included, maybe this is a new thing or I've just never noticed? Regardless, I had to scout out white chunks before i could dig in, which, to a girl on a 30min lunch break, is a royal pain and eats () into my break time. Roti - you are fine, you are what you need to be.

Yelp
This is a cool spot, great location to grab a bite before going to see a show. Our server TJ amazing! Friendly customer service and really knew the menu and what was inside of sauces.

Yelp
I used to frequent Roti when I attended grad school in D.C. a while ago. My, how time has changed this place. I'm giving three stars for the quick service I received. Everything else - much to my disappointment - was mediocre. The quality of the food was poor, its presentation was messy, and tables were slightly dirty. I was very surprised because this place was 10 times better during its early days.

Priya

Yelp
The food was good but quantity could have been more ambience is good. Tried Harissa chicken bowl found the chicken was not so fresh so would rate it a 3 but salads n sauces were fresh

Yelp
It was okay. Great vibe. I had seen some reviews on how the "meh" reviews were unfair and took a gamble. It was flavorful but I ordered a steak and Brussels bowl, and the steak was more fat than meat which was a turn off. To his credit, the server who made my bowl kept digging in the meat, trying to find less fatty pieces. I don't regret my decision, but I'm getting reimbursed for this meal so it was pretty low stakes for me.

Yelp
In the district for the day. Stopped for a fast fresh lunch, and wasn't disappointed! Took half to go:)

Yelp
This is a great choice for a quick but delicious lunch near the White House. Flavorful and healthy, the harissa chicken is delicious and has a slight kick.
google avatar

Eli G.

Yelp
Pro's: * Their staff was crazy friendly! Con's: * Pita sandwich was really gross, and nothing like the image provided. The sauce was pretty much all piled up at the top, leaving an overpowering dose of icky sweetness. The meat towards the bottom was completely unflavored, and often hard to chew with gristle.
google avatar

Rich H.

Yelp
The food was very good, but someone jumped in line in the middle of my group, put their order in, and the cashier charged me for their 2 bowls. It took a couple months, but the corporate office came through and refunded the extra charges, so I've updated my review to reflect the restaurant quality. The folks working at the restaurant were very friendly and seemed to be enjoying their day vs. just working a job. The food was full of awesome flavor - I especially liked the Harissa bowl. Great depth of flavor without being too spicy. I'll definitely return next time I'm in the area, I'll just keep a closer eye on the receipt this time. :)

Yelp
Hungry after exploring Smithsonian museums all day? Grab a bowl or pita at Roti. So many choices or build your own. We got the Lil' Lamb Bowl and the Cauliflower Chicken Bowl. Next time, I would build my own bowl. The Lil' Lamb was so good. Creamy hummus topped with lamb shawarma, dill cucumbers, cabbage, and pickled onions and finished with tahini. Add a pita. Perfect. The chicken cauliflower was pretty good. Not a fan of their cauliflower rice, but the chicken roti was delicious. The rice was topped with tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, feta and I added my favorite, extra beets. I finished my bowl with garlic sauce and tahini. Service was good. The bowls were filling. We were the only customers that came in to order, but saw a lot of UberEats drivers. Bathrooms were clean. Everyone was wearing a mask. Good place to grab a quick bowl in DC.

Yelp
The food was mediocre, and didn't taste all that. The service we were provided was unsatisfactory. the server was very rude and got visibly annoyed at requests. The Ambiance LOOKED good but the smell could draw away so many people, smelled like a toilet and even worse getting closer to the bathroom, where i found old pipes leaking and getting dangerously close to the light bulb.
google avatar

Yelp
I got pretty full from the sweet potato harvest I ordered, which was enhanced by the mango amba sauce I requested with it. This mango amba sauce was tangy and sweet. My brother also enjoyed it. I love that some of my sweet potatoes were slightly charred (to me, charred = more flavor - just my opinion!). It looked like there is also upstairs seating, but my family and I sat at a table on the ground floor, near the entrance. The restaurant is cute, with part of the wall being brick. You can pick your proteins, additional ingredients, sauces, and hummus the way you put together your bowl at a Chipotle. The employees move pretty fast and get your order ready with no issues. I would come back here when in the DC area again.
google avatar

Tonia K.

Yelp
Roti is a fast-casual Mediterranean spot. You'll decide between a bowl, pita, salad and customize to your liking. There are also preset combinations in case its decision overload for you. I love a good custom bowl so I made my own selection. The flavors were just okay. I can appreciate that during a lunch rush, the line moved quickly and staff were mostly friendly. There was seating (possibly upstairs as well) so you could dine in if desired. I know people who could eat Roti daily. While I'm not in that group, it's a viable option if you're around Metro Center and looking for a quick meal.
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
Good place to eat for a great place in the DC area. We sat outside with our dog and enjoyed the food. I love being able to choose what I want added and the meal was a great size. My Yorkie loved eating outside there.
google avatar

Kimber V.

Yelp
I stopped here to grab a quick bite to eat before heading to the National Theatre. The restaurant was well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the food was fresh, tasty, and filling. I am a Roti fan and would definitely stop by again.
google avatar

Aarti B.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of Roti's new menu and miss Roti's old unique toppings bursting with flavor - eggplant, fire roasted veggies and cous cous. The gooey fresh chocolate chip cookies used to be so goood! The crispy falafel was quite dry. The new DIY bowls left much to be desired. Roti is trying too hard to be a copy cat of Cava. Cava has a wider selection of toppings with baba ganoush and pita chips. Roti - Please bring return to your roots and bring back some of the old classic toppings!

Makean N.

Yelp
The food is terrible, too expensive, they barely give any meat and rice but put extra sauce so you're basically eating sauce! Rice is too cold and meat is hard to chew, I ended up throwing up due to the fact it's so bad. I wouldn't recommend going here! Please save your money the food is disgusting.
google avatar

Wendy A.

Yelp
I love the service so much. The lady working here was soooooo nice with me, making sure I understand the menu, how everything works, and before I left, she asked me again how was my food and asked me to be careful because she just cleaned the floor. I appreciate so much when employees go above and beyond. Now let me tell you about the food...Finally, I was able to eat a bow on my trip to DC. This was a GOOD BOWL!!!!! I choose the one with hummus and falafel that was fried right at the moment in front of me, it can not get any fresher than this. My son got the one that he chose what to put on it. He did wonderful and the taste of both bowls was awesome. The amount were more than enough for us to take for dinner. Prices are totally ok and this place have 3 different seating areas: downstairs, upstairs, and outside.

Yelp
Oh, Roti -- how I've missed you! It's been years since I've been to DC, and last time I was here, I was at a meeting that brought Roti in for lunch. From that moment, I was hooked! I was craving a big salad, so ordered delivery from them. I love that they give the option to add to the protein, as well as the variety of veggies and other "stuff" in their salads. The dressing was as delicious as I remembered it. Everything was fresh and healthy. Loved it so much, I ordered again the next day -- the exact same salad -- and it wasn't as good as day one (although pretty darn good!). Won't keep me from ordering from there again next time I'm in DC. Wish Roti was available up by me!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Quick and efficient if you are short on time but still want a healthy, balanced meal. This place is like the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. Everything is pre-cooked but with the "made-to-order" feel since you get to choose every item that goes into your order on the spot. AND there are plenty of options to choose from that do not cost extra... so get crazy with it!! The place is also quite spacious with a variety of self-seating options. I ordered a pita pocket with salmon. It was quite flavorful. Salmon was perfectly cooked at medium. Very decent price for a lunch spot. I am most likely to return there again for a quick bit when I am back in town on business.
google avatar

Yelp
After a long walk around DC, this hit the spot.. cus boy was I hungry. It was a warm, Saturday afternoon around 2:30-ish PM, and the restaurant wasn't too busy. I like that you can choose to have a wrap, rice bowl, or salad bowl. There's a variety fresh selection of toppings and dressings to choose from. If you've ever been to CAVA, it's similar to that. But In comparison to CAVA, the marination of the meat tastes different and the chicken felt more juicy and tender-I also liked the char on there. The portion size was just enough for me, maybe a tad bit too much, but that's a good thing for someone else! The staff was kind, the tables seemed clean, but the bathroom was kinda gross; Wet floor with water-soaked toilet paper and a dirty toilet. Eh.
google avatar

George L.

Yelp
Horrible venue! Bug infested, filthy tables and chairs, walk in entry is bug infested Walked I and walked out in seconds!!!
google avatar

Aileen M.

Yelp
My go to lunch spot at work! Prices are decent for the amount of food I get. I love that the toppings are unlimited. They have a great kale and chickpea salad topping that I always get and I always ask for extra which is never a problem. Everything tastes fresh and it's a great healthy alternative to some of the not so healthy eating spots we have in downtown DC. Sometimes it's annoying to come at the lunch rush hour from 12-1pm because the workers are trying to get everyone through the line as quickly as possible and I understand but if you've never been here before your gonna have a hard time being able to even read the labels on the multiple options because your being rushed to choose your next topping. If you've never been here before, I would suggest coming between 11:30am -12, or even earlier, at 11am if your hungry for lunch then. That way there's no long line and you are not being rushed. You could look at the menu before hand but let's be honest, we eat with our eyes so you probably won't make a proper choice until you see it for yourself. Overall, I love this spot and will continue to come for lunch. I'll have to try their happy hour next!

Yelp
We are kind of obsessed with Mediterranean Food. Luckily found this place in DC while roaming around. We absolutely loved it! We ordered Falafel Street Pita, Caulifornia Sunset salad and Fire and Rice bowl. Salads were fresh, loved the flavor of the rice. Meat was perfectly cooked, Falafel tasted DIVINE. We loved the Pitas the most! It was freshly baked, so soft and yummm! They offer a variety of organic drinks as well. We tried Hibiscus Limonata and Mandarin Cardamom Squeeze. So YUMM! Roti Mediterranean Grill is our new favorite now! MUST TRY!

Lucy T.

Yelp
Had to be the most terrible spot they got The stuff is mad mean and the food out here was honestly bad. I love roti but this place smelled really bad small portions
google avatar

Yolanda S.

Yelp
I had a very long travel day and was looking for a light, quick dinner after 8 pm on a Sunday. Luckily, I found my way here to meet "D." He walked me through all the options and provided me excellent, friendly service. The salad bowl was delicious, especially the roasted veggies and hummus.
google avatar

Bob B.

Yelp
Amazing service first of all! Dudes who work there and doing bowls are cool and fun! Liked the energy!!! All with love!!! Food is of course delish felish latish

Michael G.

Yelp
Overall great experience. Delicious food, friendly staff, good vibe, and fast! Wish I lived in DC so I can go more often.
google avatar

Marta W.

Yelp
Lovely service. But the felafel contained whole chickpeas and was flavorless; the baklava greasy. The place is convenient and clean and the person behind the counter really was super nice-- she would get five stars and the food zero so averaged to two.
google avatar

Hillary K.

Yelp
This place was refreshing. The food was delicious. The employees were wonderful. Definitely a good spot to stop while walking around the sites. Work the extra walk.

Tran N.

Yelp
Very good food, good service, friendly staff. There is not much space inside but sitting outside is cool, probably cold in winter.
google avatar

Yelp
Recently learned that this Roti location reopened downtown. Roti was in my general lunch rotation choices when I worked downtown and I am happy to see this location is just as good if not better with their reopening. I ordered the salmon kabob bowl to go, and the salmon was perfectly cooked (not dry or overdone at all). I recall piling on most of the options that I could. That's just how I roll in these Chipotle-type set-ups. The beets were easily my favorite topping, but everything tasted good. The complimentary pita bread was individually wrapped in a plastic packet and was soft and fresh when I finally opened it, and it was yummy with their hummus. The staff were all very friendly, from the greeter when I entered the restaurant, to the cashier and manager who thanked me for my business. I could sense they were all excited and happy to welcome back customers. I would recommend supporting and giving them a try. I plan to revisit and support!
google avatar

Ramia B.

Yelp
TERRIBLE RACIST MOFOS if you're not black they won't serve you or even respect you as a paying customer! I never thought people in customer service would do that!!!! So we walk in to order, they start to take my order, and leave my friend behind me waiting, even though there was 2 people standing there, while my friend is waiting without them acknowledging her waiting, then a black cuts in front of her in line and all of sudden they are nice attentive and wanting to start taking the black girl's attention while another person who is already there ahead in line is being ignored, as she calls them out on they start messing up the order and won't even offer to add topping or sauces.
google avatar

Eugene L.

Yelp
Roti is Mediterranean food in a fast paced super food court. You start with an option for either a pita, rice bowl, or salad bowl. Then you select a protein option from a list that includes steak, chicken, falafel, spicy lamb meatballs, and a couple others. After that you can add scoops of sauce, couscous, veggies, hummus, etc. Pile it on and feel free to ask for 2 extra scoops of a favorite. The servers are superfast, but less friendly probably due to the speed they are trying to push the business lunch crowd through. There is plenty of seating. The Good Fresh veggies Lamb is bomb diggity good Sauces are delicious The line moves quickly Clean food court area and close to the metro The Bad The steak costs $2 more but isn't that tasty It isn't quite as good as another competitor Mediterranean chain of the same ilk The reward app asks too many questions and requires a credit card to work Roti is an excellent choice in the crowded L'Enfant plaza competitive space.
google avatar

Britney G.

Yelp
First time trying this place and I might be hooked.. I got the rice bowl with chicken kabob. The ingredients were very fresh. I was reluctant about this place because I didn't know what to get but everything turned out delicious. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Lesa M.

Yelp
After being disappointed by the other takeout options in the area, I finally gave Roti a try, and I am in love. I was starving after walking around all day, and despite that the rice bowl was (almost) too big to finish. Everything in it was delicious even though it was (for me) uncharacteristically healthy. Sorry I didn't take a photo, but I ate it without pausing for breath. If I lived here I'd probably eat at Roti every day.
google avatar

Georgia S.

Yelp
Menu was confusing and misleading and food really wasn't that tasty. I like Mediterranean food but this was just kind of weird.
google avatar

Sharonda R.

Yelp
I ordered take out from Roti twice and enjoyed it both times. I got the chicken bowl with rice, red cabbage, kale, cucumbers, pickled onions, olives, feta cheese, tahini and garlic dressing...delicious. I enjoyed it and feels like I had a healthy and hearty meal.
google avatar

Rithu S.

Yelp
ROTI LOVE download the app to get $5 off. the freshness of the ingredients and the flavors of the meat/falafel is what makes this place stand out to me. After having my fair share of middle eastern food, I can confidently say that they stay somewhat true to the flavor of the food. They wrap it up in a chipotle-style experience to cater to the fast food scene required in its locations. I'm not a picky eater so I got the falafel rice bowl with everything! The sautéed eggplant and the picketed onions really tickle my taste buds. I also got the garlic sauce, siracha and the yogurt sauce. Makes for a great and quick lunch if you work in Metro Center.
google avatar

Natalie M.

Yelp
I stopped by again for breakfast. I ordered a pita wrap with eggs, chicken, hash browns, and green peppers, which was delectable and filling. I also ordered a cup of coffee, which was bleh. Another patron in the restaurant asked for whole milk, but the manager claimed that he only had enough counter space for half and half and skim milk. He advised the customer that half and half plus skim = whole milk. I'm not sure where he learned to do math, but suffice it to say, this place is no Starbucks, so stick to the food, skip the coffee, and keep it moving!
google avatar

Jannet C.

Yelp
Fast food concept in Mediterranean food. You walk into a line, and decide whether you want to start with a wrap, salad or rice bowl. Then you choose the protein and and any toppings. I had the falafel wrap. The wrap was soft, I liked that. The falafels were already made. I wish that they would fry them to order. It would have been better if they were crispy and hot. But still they were tasty. The toppings I had were the cucumber and tomato salad, feta cheese and yogurt sauce. All together, a pretty tasty wrap. My friend had the steak rice bowl. All the ingredients looked colorful and fresh and she said they tasted great. I would return for a quick bite if I was in the area again.
google avatar

Isabel C.

Yelp
Fast casual. Really delicious. Got the chicken cauliflower bowl and it was great. Just what we were looking for!
google avatar

Ebony J.

Yelp
Love this place. I come here often for lunch and it's always good. Customer service is on point as well. Came here today and they ran out of salad bc of a late delivery. Spoke with the general manager on site (jokingly) asking about why there was no salad option. He apologized and explained the circumstances and comped my meal.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Got takeout here recently and thought it was fine. I like Roti, but I felt like this particular location was a bit lacking. The chicken seemed kind of old and dry, but it was still a decent bowl. Maybe it was just an off day, but I'd probably stick to my regular location (Foggy Bottom).
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
Meh - so-so. It's fast food and I only had a few minutes for lunch so gave it a go. Disappointing. Prices were what one would expect for DC fast food. The staff was hit or miss; some were helpful and happy and some were "keep it moving, get outta here already." Seating was limited as one would also expect in downtown DC. While I love Mediterranean food, Roti was just so-so. Fairly bland, mass produced stuff. I had the lamb meatball bowl and it was pretty tasteless. It was a good portion of rice, but the meat portion disappointed. Four lamb meatballs that were about the size of a quarter. I don't think I'd be back at any Roti in the future.
google avatar

Paulie T.

Yelp
If you are familiar with Cava grill and your are looking for something similar, this is not your place, the food looks good but it's so flavorless, besides you paid like $12 for a chicken kebab plate that only includes a few pieces of chicken.
google avatar

Levin S.

Yelp
Bang for your buck meal. Very generous with serving size. Staff was very warm and pleasant.
