Montreal’s Best Portuguese Chicken Spots | Eater Montreal

"It’s no wonder that Portugalia knows how to prepare a dependably delicious chicken given its proximity to Santa Cruz church and community centre, a hub for Montreal’s Portuguese community. It’s been open since 1992 and is definitely one to try." - Valerie Silva

The Best Portuguese Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Located so closely to Boca Iberica next door, Rotisserie Portugalia could be confused for its kitchen. But make no mistake, this hole in the wall’s the reason why the corner of Clark and Rachel smells of delicious chicken and pork all throughout the evening. Be warned of occasional slow service." - JP Karwacki

I usually order a whole chicken to go and it was always delicious and not dry as it could become when cooking on a charcoal fire grill. I sat for the first in their restaurant and ordered ribs to try. It was just ok. The sides of potatoes (whole, dry on the outside and too oily) and rice were disappointing. I would suggest to stick to their chicken and fries which are fresh and tasty.

It was really delicious. We like the meat to be seared on the outside, and the staff were friendly, making the whole dining experience enjoyable. I think this might be the biggest tip I’ve ever left in Canada—around 35%—because I was that satisfied. Highly recommended!

Had to wait a little for our order, but was definitely worth it in the end. The meat was great value for money and had a lovely charcoal flavour - I also really enjoyed their poutine! Hard to believe it was a mini size 😳

Really disappointed with my recent order. I picked up a full chicken for takeout (around $25), and when I got home, I discovered it was severely undercooked — blood was still visible in the bones and parts of the meat. I had to air fry the entire chicken just to make it safe to eat, which completely defeats the purpose of ordering prepared food. I brought it to share with others, and it was frustrating and honestly a bit embarrassing to serve something that wasn’t even fully cooked. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy when I picked it up, so I’m not sure why the kitchen didn’t take the time to properly finish it. The side salad was decent — but let’s be real, it’s hard to mess up a salad. Unfortunately, the main dish was a letdown, and I won’t be ordering the chicken again.

Cool small sit down spot. This was the best choice, initially we wanted to eat at ma poulet but we did not want to wait on the long line. So glad we found this restaurant! Ordered the Demi-demi with rice and salad and the classic poutine. Perfect for two persons and had left overs. Meats were grilled with flavorful and opted for spicy. Would recommend eating here.

Such a fantastic corner shop that makes the neighborhood feel more human and alive! We had the Tony Supremo made by Tony himself. One sandwich is good enough for two to share. People at the other table outside gave us their extra insanely tasty fries. Tony also gave us spicy mayo and water bottles on the house. Would definitely come back!

Good if you value taste and good prices above everything else. There's no space to eat there, the workers will ignore you until they have time to take your order and then they'll ask you to wait outside for 20 min just to get part of your order wrong. Hygiene wise, no hairnets were worn, bracelets, piercings and necklaces everywhere and not enough space to properly separate raw and cooked products. As I mentioned, the taste is amazing and then prices are great.

Very good food, small cozy place and decent pricing. Would go again
