A Jewish Food Tour Through Mile End That Hits the Spot (and Then Some)
I had the pleasure of joining Round Table Tours for their Jewish Food Tour of Mile End—and it felt like stepping into a delicious, living time capsule of the neighborhood’s past and present.
Our group was small (just six of us), which made the experience feel cozy and personal. Melissa, the founder and guide, has been running her company since 2012, and it shows. Her warmth, storytelling, and attention to detail made this more than just a food tour—it was a heartfelt tribute to Mile End’s layered Jewish history.
It actually rained the day of our tour, so Foxy Tip: always check the forecast before a walking tour and dress accordingly! But honestly, Melissa made it all worth it. She even brought branded tote bags and water bottles for each of us, which was such a thoughtful touch.
This wasn’t just about eating—it was a walk through time. We heard powerful quotes from Jewish authors who lived in the neighborhood during the 1930s and 40s, saw photos of key figures, and explored hidden architectural details you’d miss on your own. It really felt like we were uncovering stories still etched into the city walls.
And the food? Unforgettable. Think iconic delis, legendary bagels, comforting pastries, and a sweet treat to wrap it all up. I won’t give away every stop—you’ll have to join the tour to taste it all yourself—but trust me, it’s a feast of both flavors and stories.
This tour fed more than just my stomach—it deepened my connection to a neighborhood I thought I already knew. Melissa brings history to life in the most delicious way.
