‘Wayne’s World’ Pop-Up Bar Will Allow Bucktown to Party on ’90s Style | Eater Chicago

"I noticed that Around the Bend is collaborating with Bucktown Pub for the Wayne’s Basement pop-up, supplying Wayne’s World–themed beers on tap and agreeing to have six of its beers renamed with tongue-in-cheek titles such as “A Sphincter Says What?.” Around the Bend’s director of sales, Lindsey Stocks, is a big Wayne’s World fan and helped come up with the idea alongside Bucktown’s GM Autumn Giltner." - Ashok Selvam

Finally made our way to Round the Bend. Arrived around 4:30 on a Friday night and we were seated right away. Ordered drinks and appetizers. Hubby and I split a half sack and our son had cheese curds (we also enjoyed those). The half sack is a small portion of fresh, tender testicles. They were very good. I ordered prime rib, as did our son. It was tender and flavorful. The Brussels sprouts were quite tasty as well. My baked potato was just ok. Hubby ordered coconut shrimp. The shrimp were large and they gave a generous amount. The dipping sauce for the shrimp was a little too sweet for my liking.

This place is amazing. We made it a plan to stop in here as we were traveling from Vancouver, Washington and staying in Ashland. It is located in a beautiful area up on a knoll that looked over fields of corn. We ordered drinks and appetizers and waited outside. There are ring toss games that kept our kids busy. We struck up conversations with other customers waiting as well, everyone was so friendly. We were finally seated and greeted by our friendly server Mercedes. All of us could not wait to get our steaks and side dishes. Everything was cooked and tasted absolutely perfect. Mercedes asked if we were going to try an "oyster", and in unison we all said "NO!". Later as we were leaving I noticed some funny t-shirts that feature a very "buff" bull standing in front of a pickup truck. It was advertising what they are famous for. The kids thought the shirts were funny and asked if we would buy them each one, my wife replied "Only if you try a bite of one". Mercedes saw us and my wife asked what they taste like. She explained that they taste mostly like chicken fried steak. Well... Mercedes said there is an option on the menu to try just one slice, so she went and got us our sampler. Never in a hundred million years did I ever think I would even think about trying this. Well in not so many words, it came out, I cut off a bite, dunked it in Dorthy Lynch dressing and ate it. The rest of the family tried as well. Long story short, we survived, the kids got new shirts, we made a new friend and can't wait to go back some day.

I love this place! It’s always busy which is great but never had to wait very long at all. The food is delicious. Prices are fair. Always great service! Best steakhouse around the area.

Good food and service. Little wait time, somewhat noisy. I would recommend for casual, plentiful meal.

We got there just before 5 on a Friday night, and there was already a good crowd there. We were seated after only a minute's wait. The servers were fairly busy and it took maybe five minutes before someone came by with menus and to get our drink order. A few minutes later we had our drinks and gave our server our dinner order. I ordered the 16oz Ribeye topped with mushrooms and onions. My partner ordered their filet. My two sides were asparagus and a side salad. My partner also ordered asparagus, along with a baked potato. We also ordered corn nuggets as an appetizer. The appetizer only took five minutes to arrive, it was more than large enough for the two of us. My salad showed up about then as well, it was a generous portion with a cup of dressing. Maybe ten minutes later our meals arrived. My steak had a nicely seared outside and was cooked medium rare like I had ordered. My partner's filet was fine similarly. I can't speak for her steak, but mine was excellent, although it might have been spiced a bit more. Good flavor, easy to cut, about the right amount of fat for this cut of steak. The asparagus was grilled and was also very good. The steak was much better than what I have become accustomed to getting at Texas Roadhouse as well as Longhorn Steakhouse. While we're there the restaurant filled up and customers were waiting to be seated, so we managed to hit the sweet spot for time. Prices were higher than the chain houses, but the quality of the steak was better. The dining room didn't try and pack as many customers in as possible, we didn't get that crowded feeling like we do at Texas Roadhouse. Even though the restaurant was crowded, we didn't feel like they were trying to rush us out the door so that they could get the next group seated. A little more expensive than I'd feel comfortable doing regularly, but definitely worth it for any sort of dinner where a bit of a splurge is appropriate. We'll be going back when we feel like having done really good steak.

Google
Pretty cool place. Busy. We started off with the rocky mountain oysters and they were good but was expecting a Lil more flavor than just the breading. I also had the 12oz ribeye, loaded baked potato, house salad and dinner roll I absolutely can't complain it was cooked perfectly it was a delicious meal. Service could have been a Lil better but when your busy your busy.

Been coming to this establishment for 16 years and can honestly say never have had a single had experience! In the more recent years Tj and crew do a phenomenal job!

Google
Great place with a friendly staff and atmosphere! This was one of the best steaks I've had in a while. Found this place by accident and was lured in by the Testicle Festival sign out front! And yes, I tried them! Sliced and deep fried. How can they be bad?! I only gave 4 stars for food because they didn't have dessert. Not sure if they don't serve it or were just out of it.

Yelp
Amazing. As always prime rib on point. Staff very efficient and kind. Still working up the appetite to try that 32oz.

Yelp
We were in Lincoln, wanted to try someplace different. As we sat in a little bar we like just watching the pedestrians in the Hay Market I came across this place in Yelp. We had to drive, near, where it was located so decided to stop. It was only a couple miles off the I-80. As I am looking at the reviews already online, now but not that day. I should not have been surprised when the parking lot was busy. We were a little late for a weeknight, but had read it was open until 9. It was busy, but we were seated right away. I ordered a beer, the selection is 'ok'. It's a steak house, but the Fried Chicken sounded good. My wife had the Chicken fried Chicken. The wait was reasonable considering our order. We were not surprised when the waitress brought the order out because of what we had seen on other tables. The helpings were generous. My chicken certainly tasted as though it was just cooked and she liked her order also. We also ordered as an appetizer the Onion Rings. I have learned that these vary greatly from one place to another. There is one restaurant we wouldn't go back to because they cost nearly $2 per ring. Theirs were above average in size and taste. Definitely would recommend. Everything was very good. I was also impressed by the waitresses. One as she walked by noticed we were looking for something. She stopped and asked us if she could help. My point here, is she did not ignore, but asked us. Ambience? Well, it is clean with concrete floors. But, the ambience is not rustic as that would imply wooded or old. There were a couple of posters on the walls. There was one very large room. I would NOT recommend someone go for a quiet romantic evening. The room is open and large, can be loud. Go for the food, it is worth it. We will get there again for sure, but this time will be wanting to sample one of their steaks. Being in a very rural setting we 'assume' they will be able to find and serve very good steak. BE AWARE!!!!!! They do not take any AmEx cards. This isn't really that unknown as AmEx does have a larger charge on vendors than the popular cards. BUT! there was no sign letting me know this until the waitress rejected the card. I was told if I didn't have any other card that is why they have a cash machine. On the way out I looked and there is NO sign advising customers. Luckily I carry a bank card.....

Yelp
First time diners. Went for a mid afternoon dinner 3:15 and the place was already packed. Good friendly service. Full menu, just a rural steakhouse out in the middle of nowhere. First, it is worth a trip. Wet aged angus beef. Specials every day except Sunday (closed). Interior is nothing special, this is all about the food. Good selection of appetizers. We went with cheese curds and corn nuggets each with it's own house made sauce. Crispy and delicious from both. Got the filet with fried shrimp as well as steak bites with brussel sprouts and a house salad. Filet was extremely tender and well seasoned. Almost could cut with a fork. Crispy shrimp were large with a tasty batter on the outside. Very good. Brussel sprouts were good as well as the house salad with house made ranch. The steak bites were just a bit tough and had no seasoning whatsoever. Meal also comes with homemade yeast rolls (just a little heavy) Overall a really good meal. This restaurant also hosts the annual testicle festival for those brave of heart. These are also available as part of the daily menu (don't be scared).

Yelp
This place delivered on being exactly what you'd expect it to be. A no-thrills steakhouse that puts its energy into great service and delicious food.

Yelp
We came here on a Monday night and it was PACKED which immediately told me the wait would be worth it. We had 6 in our party and they were able to seat us in 20 minutes. There was a nice patio to wait outside and you can also grab drinks from the bar while you wait. The bar was a bit crowded so that took some patience. Once seated, our waitress was sweet and very attentive. The steaks were excellent and perfectly prepared. We had fried cheese curds and mushrooms which were good. The dipping sauce was also excellent. This was totally worth the drive from Omaha.

Yelp
Never heard of this place before but was meeting my son in Ashland. We will definitely go back. The service was incredibly fast, the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was very comfortable. We had the special which was a very tasty ribeye. We passed on the beef fries. I'm probably never going to try those but at least I know where to go for them. This is a great place. A hidden gem.

Yelp
For my nephew's 11th birthday, we returned to Round The Bend, because nothing says celebration quite like steak, prime rib, and deep-fried goodness. We arrived around 5:15 PM, got on the waitlist, and hung out at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party. Saturday night, party of seven--of course, there was a wait. But the hardest part? The place smells unreal. Waiting was torture with that scent of sizzling steaks in the air. Once seated, our server was right on it, taking drink orders immediately. I still had my margarita from the bar (if you know, you know--these are on tap and dangerously strong). I stick to a two-marg max, because three is a mistake I won't make twice. But let's talk about my real achievement of the night: full beverage goblin mode. Margarita Coke Zero WITH lemon Water And bless our server; she kept them all coming. You don't come to the home of the Testicle Festival without getting a Full Sack. We also grabbed Corn "Husker" Nuggets and tried the new traditional wings with Billy Bucks Rub. I wanted to take a picture... but this table was a pack of wild animals. Gone in seconds. Full Sack - Fried to perfection, crispy, and dunked in BBQ sauce. Pro tip: upgrade your nuts with Jalapeño Ranch. Corn Nuggets - Served with a spicy mayo sauce that always hits. Traditional Wings with Billy Buck's Dry Rub - Absolute home run. Even the wing snobs at our table agreed: these are always a must-order. We devoured everything so fast we had to order another Full Sack before the main course. No regrets. For the mains, it was all steaks and prime rib. I went with the 8 oz filet--cooked to perfection, cut like butter, and paired with sweet potato fries and mushrooms--Chef's freaking kiss. My house salad with jalapeño ranch was fresh and crisp, and the dinner rolls? Hot from the oven. Then came the prime ribs... Dad went for a smaller cut. Husband went for the RTB Cut--a literal 32-oz (TWO POUND) prime rib. An absolute behemoth. Everything came out fast--this kitchen runs like a well-oiled, steak-searing machine. Now, my dad is a toddler in a grown man's body, but we love him anyway. After finishing his meal, he decided to drop the remaining fat from his prime rib into his au jus cup and dangle it off his fork. Then he looked me dead in the eye and said, "I'll give you $100 if you eat this." No, sir. Absolutely not. Our server walked up mid-scene, and my dad--never one to waste an opportunity--offered her the $100 if she ate it. Without missing a beat, she goes, "I AM hungry, but we're not allowed to eat on the floor. My boss would get mad." And you know what? He gave her the $100 anyway. Final Verdict: Worth Every Penny The bill for seven people, four appetizers, drinks, and way too much beef came to $424--which is a steal for this much food and this level of quality. I tipped another $90, bringing the total to $515, and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. Would I come back? 1000%. Would I get another Full Sack? No question. Will I ever eat prime rib fat for money? It's still a hard no.

Yelp
This place is always packed, but we luckily didn't wait too long. There are tons of people working and service is very efficient. I tried the oatmeal cookie martini, and it tasted good but was a heavy drink. I couldn't finish it. My husband and I split the largest steak. It's a huge portion and comes with four sides. All of our sides were fantastic. I had a side salad and delicious mac and cheese. However, our steak was oddly chewy. The flavor was amazing, but it felt like no amount of chewing was enough. We both noticed this. However, I'd definitely return and order something other than the steak!

Yelp
Overall a really good spot to stop and have some lunch! Our waitress was very nice and made our dining experience very enjoyable. She guided us through the menu-making helpful recommendations. The interior of the restaurant was cozy and inviting and went well with the experience. The food was delicious. Every single meal was well cooked and I was still able to find options as a vegetarian. My family enjoyed the steaks while I ate the delicious corn nuggets. Definitely a place worth checking out!

Yelp
Took a lil road trip to Ashland tonight and made sure we ended up at RTB for some eats and drinks. First up, that Holiday drinky-drink, the Oatmeal Cookie! My go-to holiday drinks usually flow in the sweet and creamy vein and this one didn't disappoint! Zero oatmeal flavor, but that Baileys hits the spot. T grabbed their aged, 16oz Ribeye, with choice of two sides; baked potato and coleslaw. Surprisingly he had the ribeye cooked to medium-well vs his usual medium, so that was... neat. His did sorta wish his baked potato was warm, because he definitely does dig his toes. Perhaps wrapping it in tinfoil? I snagged their Blackened Salmon, also with two sides; house salad and mixed veggies. Also added 3 coconut shrimp just to try. Cooked to perfection on the salmon, and zero doo in the shrimp! It matters folks! They weren't busy at all, and although it's a HUGE open space, I bet this would be an excellent place for a huge family gathering with a decent budget. If you like lil drives out of the Metro, consider stopping by one night!

Yelp
After visiting Strategic Air Command, we wanted a nice late lunch. Lo and behold, Round the Bend Steakhouse, which was in my collection of places to try, was nearby. Double bonus! Since we arrived mid-afternoon on a rainy Monday, there were only a few people in the restaurant. As a result, service was friendly as well quick and efficient. We liked all the menu choices; but decided to order the daily special which was a 1/2 lb. Cheeseburger with Fries. We also got the appetizer RTB Onion Rings. Another double bonus! All of the food was excellently prepared and delicious!

Yelp
Worth the drive no matter where you're located. Such an amazing spot that you need to try. Every thing on the menu is delicious. Can't wait to go back to try more amazing items.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere! My husband brought me here for our first anniversary tonight. The food was amazing, I've never had better asparagus and the cowboy butter was sooooo good! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
A few friends and I ventured to Ashland to see what all the fuss was about at Round the Bend, and we definitely learned that it was worth the fuss and more! The ambiance was very bustling and busy, like you're at a wedding (but in the best way - everyone is having so much fun, you can tell!) Our server was excellent and made sure our drinks were always filled and we were updated on the status of our food (since they were obviously very busy, which I think they always are!) She brought out the rolls first and they were served warm and had a tad bit of sweetness to them. They were absolutely delicious when paired with a little bit of butter too, but I didn't want to fill up on rolls, so I only had one, though I could have eaten them all. We did grab a starter, when it jumped out at me - Corn Nuggets! They were bits of breaded sweet corn that came with a creamy, peppery dip that paired with the sweet corn perfectly. These corn nuggets are gigantic, so definitely shareable, though you'll want to eat them all yourself! For my entree, I got the Angus Cheeseburger. It was super tasty on its own, due to the great cook and seasoning. I just added ketchup and mayo for my toppings and it was good to go! I chose hash browns for the side that came with my entree, and they were excellent. They came with a full slice of cheese on top which some people might see as weird, but the slice melted as you ate it, making it all ooey gooey and divine. My husband ordered the Sirloin with Compound Butter. The sirloin cut was gigantic and thick, and the compound butter added the perfect amount of saltiness and creaminess. Other sides we ordered and shared: -Asparagus: This doesn't jump out to many as a delectable side, but I happen to enjoy asparagus when it's really well done, and here it definitely was! It was seared and smoky, with a slight tasty char on a few ends. -Baked Potato: Warm and so satisfying with all the fixins, like sour cream, shredded cheese, butter. You can't go wrong with a well made baked potato. -Mac and Cheese: So creamy, with bits of fried onions in it that gave it a nice crunch and extra layer of flavor! Suffice to say, I think the quality of meat, sides, and starters here is definitely worth the short drive to Ashland!

Emily J.

Yelp
Service, food, and drinks were all great! We had corn nuggets, mozzarella sticks, beef fries, steak, and more. All of it was equally as good. Tables out front to sit and have a couple drinks if it's busy and you have to wait for a table. Loved it.
google avatar

LaRae H.

Yelp
We went here last night and boy was it fantastic! Parking lot was packed so we thought it would be a very long wait! Only about ten minutes. The place was very clean and our service was quick and exceptional. We started with the Corn Nuggets, they were very flavorful. Hubby and I both had filet cuts. The steaks were perfectly cooked and very flavorful! Very fun atmosphere!
google avatar

Justin W.

Yelp
Always a solid choice for big groups and delicious steaks. Their appetizers and drinks are great and can be ordered while you wait for a table. Chances are you will wait too as they are so popular. But plan to spend the time and enjoy a great, big portioned, great flavored meal here! Note that chairs and tables are generic dining hall style, nothing fancy. The investment is in the quality food.
google avatar

Yelp
The Filet is amazing! It's a bit far from Omaha, but worth the drive! (I wasn't a fan of the Rocky Mountain Oysters though.)

Yelp
Drove up to Round the ben' this weekend and let me tell you----- I had a tough conversation here with my co-worker, Edith, here, and the ambiance, here, made the tough conversation, softer. That wasn't the only soft thing... those hush puppies were softer than the bottom of a new born. Good ribs too.

Yelp
We went to the Dueling Piano's and Buffet last night and really enjoyed the evening. Very well planned, very organized, extremely good food, and really good audience participation entertainment. All the employees were very friendly and extremely competent, made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
On the way to the Strategic Air Command museum and this establishment was on the way to fulfill the need for a steak. The restaurant seemed to be in a larger barn-like structure while the back of the space was a ballroom. The space seemed very large with dark floors, roof, dark colored chairs making the space feel a little smaller than it was. At the heart of noon time, the space was 30% filled. Service was attentive, prompt, and helpful explaining the menu items. They say, when in Nebraska, you must eat a steak. That saying was spot on. The quality and price was very good IMO. It would be worth revisiting their other locations across Nebraska.
google avatar

Yelp
A lot of food. And everything is delicious. Worth the drive if you aren't from one of the surrounding towns. You'll wait in line. Get in early.

Yelp
Sorry NOT good Round the Bend. One person/ a plain hamburger $20+ Limp soggy and COLD fries. I ordered to go and I ordered a side of coleslaw, now how in the dang world am I supposed to eat it without a fork? INCLUDE A FORK! Food was sub-par at best. They praise themselves on their beef and it was just ok. Nothing special, I've had much better at little hole in the walls. PLUS, had to wait forever for it. One more strike and this place is out for me. I'm sure they could care less because they have plenty of drinking boomers with money to keep them going. Help was not that friendly. Except for the girl in the bar. Overall not a great experience for my money.

Yelp
There are not very many old school steakhouses left and this one is halfway between Lincoln and Omaha. Got here by 5pm on a Friday night thinking that would be early enough to get a table right away. That was not the case. Apparently, they are always busy and they do not take reservations. Even with getting there early it was still a 30-minute wait to be seated. The restaurant has a seated waiting area indoors, a waiting area in the bar, or you can wait at the outdoor tables. Every table gets a basket of bread, tried the 4-piece chicken and grilled salmon. Both the customer service and food were good; however, it does get rather loud in the main restaurant area. It would be great if they started using a reservation system as the wait time was close to an hour by the time we left. Additionally, the restaurant has plenty of parking and a large special event room for those hosting wedding receptions.

Yelp
It doesn't get any better than this. You can feel yourself becoming more of a red blooded American with every bite. This is how food should taste. Make sure to stop when you're rushing across 80!

Yelp
It's nice to know these places are still around. I will break this review into three parts. (1) Great prices, (2) quality steak, (3) down to earth environment. In a world of trendy, overpriced restaurants, round the bend steakhouse is a breath of fresh air. The prices are exactly what they should be. They offer a variety of steak cuts, ranging from about $20 all the way up into the $40s. In my opinion, the cheapest cut is still a great option. They call it a petite, but it is still a big slice of meat, cooked exactly how you want it. Of course, you can go outside the box and get a pair or several pairs of Rocky mountain oysters, a.k.a. bull testicles. These are actually pretty tasty and are a fun and unique part about the restaurant. It's no wonder their meat is so quality as they have sourced from some of the best, local ranches in the west and Midwest. They have a sign in the waiting area that shows each of these ranches. Every time we have been, there has been a wait, but don't let that stop you, because they move through the waiting list very efficiently. Furthermore, it is perfectly fine to go and grab a drink from the bar while you wait. You can take your drink outside or sit at one of the high tops in the bar. I never mind waiting at round the bend if I've got a nice drink in my hand. Overall, this is a great spot to go for a date night, a family night out, or to take visiting friends and family to a true Nebraska steakhouse. I would, and do, highly recommend round the bend steakhouse as a quality and reasonably priced, down to earth steakhouse .

Yelp
I stopped to asked for a table for 12. They do not take reservations, and told me there is a 45 to an hour wait, (it was 10 till 6) I said okay we are staying at Kimberly retreat that is like around the corner and I will be right back. They asked do you want us to put your name on the wait list and I said yes and they wrote me down but said be here before 6:30 even though we would not be seated til 6:45 or 7. I was there with my whole party at before 6:30 and was told another 45 minutes to an hour wait..... I asked for a manager and with two attempts with one "manager" I got the anther or the manager. Because of my frustration I didn't give in and swore once but at them or I didn't get answer to my question but was only referred to the policy on the wall that was not pointed out to me, a first time visitor when I stopped and they wrote me on the wait list. Don't put my name down and or don't tell me to be back at 6:30 to be seated at 6:45 or 7. I did what they asked of me. I know this industry, I was in it for 30 years, you always apologize and you work to make it right. If they would have acknowledged that they didn't point out their policy to me and apologize and offered something simple we would have stopped the conflict and stayed. Not to take anything away from Round the Bend because we didn't get to experience it other than bad communication. We are ended up at Parker's. That was also busy. Was welcomed and seated almost right away. The food was delicious!

Matthew L.

Yelp
Very unprofessional. They say no reservations but yet take Your name and tell you when to be there and then when you do Get there at their time they tell you 45- 1 hr wait . Then the "manager" tries to to get confrontational in front of the whole restaurant. I would not recommend this place by just the unprofessionalism and poor customer service.

Yelp
Oh how I wanted to give RTB steakhouse a 5. It's been a long time since coming, and was so excited to bring by husband! We were seated quickly, and waitstaff was super pleasant and attentive. Big, main dining room is loud, but roomy. Ordered cocktails, a few Rocky Mountain oysters, and corn nuggets to start. The "Nebraska pit bull" cocktail was their take on a Colorado bulldog and was spot on. The mule, however, was not. Overly spicy, and hard to drink, it was sorely missing simple syrup to round it out. Mountain oysters were expertly prepared, a great first experience for my husband. I wasn't sure how I felt about them being served with bbq sauce, but it was surprisingly good. Corn nuggets were good, and just as anticipated. The highly anticipated prime rib was absolutely expertly prepared - albeit pepperier than I was expecting. Tender, and flavorful, the biggest disappointment was that is was hardly even room temp. I didn't want to return it for fear that they would just dip it in au jus and it would end up over cooked. Don't worry about getting the mushrooms - they are just canned mushrooms and add very little to the delicious hunk of beefy goodness. Will I go back? Yes. Will I try the prime rib again? Maybe. Do I think this is an awesome destination dinner? Yes!

Yelp
First time visiting after several good recommendations. It was super busy which we did expect. Bar service was good. Most of us had ribeyes. The food was fantastic. Prime rib was good. Filet was also good. Sides were good all around. Coleslaw French fries sweet potato fries and baked potatoes. Would definitely recommend. Be prepared to wait.

Yelp
Overall, I enjoy their annual Testicle Festival. I go every year, buy a T-Shirt, and enjoy some testicles and beer with my wife, family and friends. One thing I don't like is their lack of adequate handicap parking, when their policy during the festival is to use these spots for motorcyclists, NOT HANDICAPPED PEOPLE! So, let me get this straight. At any other business, if a person who is not handicapped Parks in a handicap spot, they get ticketed, fined, and/or towed. But during the festival they PURPOSELY reserve handicap spots for NON-HANDICAPPED people (e.g. in this case motorcyclists)? I understand that motorcycles park better on cement (where their handicap spots are), but where do handicap people park during the festival then. There appears to be no concern with this.

Yelp
simply an amazing meal, the service is outstanding Stafford very friendly, I ordered the top sirloin, and my friend Tony ordered the 16 ounce prime rib. For the sides, we ordered onion rings, and chicken gizzards. All of the meal was simply outstanding!

Yelp
I mean, who wouldn't want to check out a place advertised as home of the "Testicle Festival"? I'm going with a solid 4 on this place because it was hands-down one of the best meals I had on my recent trip to Nebraska. When my parents said they wanted to take our 20+ person party out for a steak dinner after their 50th wedding anniversary reception, I said, "oh hell, we're in for a ride." But for the situation, Round the Bend was actually the perfect spot. They don't take reservations, so a few of us showed up and put our names on the list to get an idea on the wait time (which was over an hour). Service was super friendly at both the front desk and the bar area. Once we were seated, our party was assigned a couple different servers, and we placed our orders. I got the filet with coconut shrimp and sweet potato fries - steak came out a perfect mid-rare, shrimp was tasty and those fries were amazing. My kids ate everything on their plates (steak and a cheeseburger) and it was the first meal they hadn't complained about on our trip. Our servers were attentive and brought everything we asked for relatively quickly. The only downsides - it's LOUD. Like, really loud. We had a hard time talking across our table to each other without shouting. And for the price, if you're expecting some kind of high-end decor or something, this is not that. It's almost like a pub/bar seating kind of thing, but the food is WAY better than an average bar menu. Once I finished my meal though, I excused myself to the patio again because it was so loud and got to see an amazing sunset off the patio -- another perk I guess! If we lived nearby, I could totally see this being a one-in-a-while weekend treat. Just plan to hang there for the duration of the evening and enjoy.

Yelp
Good food, the atmosphere is nice too, kinda what you expect for a fairly remote nice steakhouse

Yelp
Best nut fries in the old west! Food and service is always good. Staff is friendly and helpful when trying to decide what to eat front the menu. Daily lunch specials and cold beer . 5 stars.

Yelp
After a trip to the Wildlife Safari Park, we decided to stop here for a late lunch/early dinner. It definitely has an entertaining reputation thanks to its annual festival. The food was great, and the service was fantastic, especially considering we had an over-tired toddler with us who had skipped her nap that day. If you've never had it, I think it should be mandatory that you order the "one nut wonder".

Yelp
ALWAYS excellent food, service and attention. The portions were HUGE and the testicles are done better than anywhere else we have had! Next time I will update with actual photos of EVERYTHING.

Yelp
If you want to try Rocky Mountain oysters or beef fries they have that. But they do not do it very well. I figured let's give it a try while out here. Sadly it was disappointing. Ground the bend clearly loves to embrace the novelty of the dish, but fails in the execution. The beef fries were mostly bread. They were flavorless and just sad. The cheese curds were the same. All breading. The staff is friendly enough, but the inside of the restaurant was smelly and dirty and just plain sad. If you really want to try beef fries I'd say look elsewhere.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time on a Wednesday afternoon. We were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary, and being close by we decided this would be our special meal for the day. We both had a steak, mine being a large ribeye. The steaks were cooked as we ordered, and tasted good. Hot and nice and tender. My wife had mac & cheese and I had fries. All was good. We both felt the biscuits were a bit dense, but there are many types of biscuits, and these were just not what were prefer. They were nice and warm. The steaks tasted good, but were just good. They didn't blow us away. The mac and cheese was pretty good, and so were my fries. The whole meal was good, it just didn't blow us away and earn that fifth star. I forgot, I tried one of the beef testicles. I have had these long ago. The meat was tender, but the breading was so thick I really couldn't taste it. Again, a personal preference is for a flour and egg washed coating. We do want to go back and try other choices. It was still a good meal and the service and atmosphere were both good.

Yelp
Their GM is amazing. The manager was handling a difficult situation with extremely difficult guests. The GM then came out to defend his manager, who was getting cussed out by the customers. At that point, the unruly customers became aggressive. Their GM handled the situation extremely well.

Yelp
Round the Bend is a frequent place for us for family get togethers because its consistently good, great portions for the price, and great service!! It's nothing fancy, pretty casual dining room. We chose onion rings, served with an onion dip, for an appetizer, and I went with the 12oz petite sirloin for dinner. Everything was delicious! Huge portion and cooked perfect to order. Plenty to take home leftovers! I was also excited that they had some local beers on tap, and I hear they make a mean margarita! Dinner and drinks for our family of 5 was under $125. Check out Round the Bend for great steak in a casual atmosphere that wont break the bank.

Yelp
I have been by this place many times and always wanted to try it. This past Saturday - I was out that way and needed a late lunch - so I thought, now is the time. It was about 4:15 p.m. and I actually was surprised that they were busy and when I checked in for a table was told it would be a bit of a wait, but I was free to eat in the bar. The wait staff was on top of things and very nice and friendly - wish I had gotten the waiters name but he was the only guy working the bar Saturday (the others were women) and he did great. I was not in the mood for a steak and just wanted a burger and fries. The burger comes with chips, but I really wanted fries. All sides are $4.00 - that's crazy and if I went back I would not opt for the fries again - good but definitely not worth $4. The burger was good - honestly though, it was nothing special. By the time I was done - this place was pack and one of the great things is that it seems like there are lots of places to wait for them to call your name or buzz your buzzer. I would go back, but I won't rush. However, on the way to the bathroom - I did see the party area - looked like a reception was going on - it was huge and looked like a great venue.

Yelp
We went on chicken fried steak night! The place was packed! For how busy it was they moved people through rather quick. We were told a thirty minute wait and it was at most 20! Very very good chicken fried steak. Wasn't a huge fan of the corn but the chicken fried steak itself was good and very reasonably priced!

Yelp
Middle of no where restaurant with testicles on the menu. It was definitely something unique and I'm glad we went to knock it off our Nebraska bucket list!

Yelp
Well an hour wait to be served fish so utterly over cooked we thought it was just batter. To say it was utter lousy wouldn't be enough. Along with a cup full of 1/2" long french fries- get the picture! I'd recommend going hungry instead you"'d be much better off. Never again for lunch!!!! Surprised as we have. Enjoyed supper there at least 10 times- was always good . likely not again now.

Yelp
My partner has been wanting to try this restaurant for months and finally we got the chance to for a date night. Now being local to Omaha means this restaurant is a little bit of a drive to get to, however looking back now. I'd probably walk if it meant getting to have another steak like that. Walking in I didn't know what to expect, but the overall vibe of the restaurant felt really comfortable and there's no way to really feel out of place. Our server was great and attentive and even helped us secure a really cool cup to take with us. The steak was amazing, medium rare was spot on and the flavor was perfected by a great chef in the back so I can confirm that the steak sauce on the table is there strictly for decoration. The mushroom Swiss burger was great for my rather picky partner and she even ate the left overs for lunch the next day. We also had the breaded mushrooms as an appetizer and that was great as well. They come out fresh though so keep your hands clear until they cool a bit because they bite back otherwise. All in all. This will be a definite place to return to another day, perhaps with friends, perhaps for a business meeting.

Yelp
Food and service are fantastic. I'm not sure about the steak pricing, but considering it was basically perfect I can't complain too much! :D The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the mushroom and onion add-on was good. It seems like you're going to be waiting for seating a lot of the time but it's totally worth it, and you can seat and eat in the bar area if you don't mind (there's tables there as well).

Yelp
As far as traditional bars go this place hits the mark. Their whiskey selection was limited to the typical stuff, nothing interesting or worth sipping on. The prices were very reasonable and there were TV's in view for the entire restaurant area. We were there during a Nebraska football game so that was nice. The food was fine, nothing spectacular or bad. If I am in the area again and hungry we will stop again.
