Visited Round 1 in Exton again this past weekend and I'm sad to say my score for this arcade has only decreased since our last visit.
Game prices have increased AGAIN. A lot of arcade games are 8 credits a play or more. UFO Catchers are 9.8 credits per play (what??) and the big Cranes on the ends are over 12 credits per play.
On this visit, a Saturday afternoon, which was not too busy, but there were families and teens in to play games, I counted over 15 games that were out of order. Fifteen. It seemed like nearly every game we wanted to play was broken. Some games weren't even TURNED ON, let alone working correctly. And probably 1/3 of the UFO Catchers were out of order, too! Some of them only had one prize chute, which meant it was completely impossible to try and win that specific plush at all. Some Karaoke rooms were also out of order. Also, ALL of the self-serve kiosks were broken. ALL OF THEM. One of them at least was working just enough to be able to swipe your card and check your credits/tickets earned, but it wouldn't allow you to add money to your card. The other 3 kiosk machines weren't working at all.
They have started to stock SOME anime figures, mostly Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and a CardCaptor Sakura figure. They also have started to add more styles of winning in the UFO Catchers besides just pushing the plush down the chute, but some of them seem a little steep considering the 9.8 credits per play. Some of the UFO Catchers were only half full, or had literally only 1 or 2 plush remaining.
The prize room still lacks variety, and many of the small plush prizes (and the Rilakkuma/Korillakuma prizes) are STILL the same since the last time we were there over half a year ago. Definitely needs more Japanese prizes, be it plush or other small collectible items. Blind Boxes, Figures, Can Badges, Strap Charms, Gatcha Prizes, general anime merch... anything would be an improvement to the over-saturation of 'american crap' prizes like mugs, t-shirts, backpacks, cheap dollar store toys, etc.
This location seems to still suffer heavily from being on the East Coast. None of the new games advertised on social media have made it out here yet, and it always seems to take forever for them to get prizes that other West Coast locations have weeks or even months earlier. I really want to love Round 1, but every time we visit we enjoy it a little bit less, and hardly ever seem to spend all the credits we buy during a visit now. I only suspect this location will continue to slowly slip downwards now that one is set to be built in Philly, too, as it will get priority over Exton's location.
But hey, at least now they have 2 DANCERUSH STARDOM games.
