Overall ambiance was nice and lively. Service was great and we appreciated the attention to details by the staff. Pork Ribs appetizer was fantastic while the short ribs entree was a bit lackluster in cohesion and taste. The rabbit pappardelle entree was delicious and plentiful in portion size. The chocolate ash cake was alright as it didn’t taste fresh while the 3 components (chocolate, vanilla, and caramel) paired very well together.

Party of four celebrating a birthday. We arrived before the birthday guest very hungry so went ahead and ordered apps. Service was warm and inviting. The appetizers were fantastic (rolls, ribs, and tartar) which is what lands the food at 2 stars. Everything declined from there. We ordered champagne and were brought three flutes (not the server but what I assume is a wine steward?) and asked if we wanted to wait for a fourth glass. Um, yes please we have four guests. Someone else brought my husband a wine glass. It is just a small detail but when spending over $200pp my expectations of glassware are basic. All the steaks were mostly cooked correctly, but if flame searing, care should be taken to not burn it to an inedible level. Further a bone in ribeye for $125 carries an expectation when we can get better quality at Ruths Chris for less. Mac n chz was in a searing hot metal dish but remained colder than room temperature. The osso bucco was also room temperature and required a steak knife to cut. We requested two higher end whiskey cocktails and after 30 minutes were told they were out of that whiskey. We ordered desserts, a food runner dropped them not in front of the birthday guest and said, “ we normally do candles but couldnt find them. “ sometimes less is more.

We experienced the final day of the current Josper Counter menu and it was exquisite. Bri was a xenial host/chef, we loved the train-themed exposé, and the exclusive way they cook everything with charcoal and watching it all exposed behind the counter. The menu was exceptional, we loved it all, the highlights were the rolls with the ash butter, the scallops, the wagyu, the duck with the ramen… but really the custard with the curd and crumble— I’ve exhausted innumerable desserts, but this was the best dessert I’ve ever had. Bri is over the new exclusive Josper Counter menu coming out the end of January, and we are excited over the exposition!!!

My partner and I dined at Rouser back in March for my birthday, and it was a terrible experience at the time. We decided to give it another try today, and the difference was incredible. The new team and updated menu have completely turned things around. Every dish was flavorful and well balanced. The appetizers, especially the pork ribs and beef tartare, were rich, unique, and perfectly seasoned. The short rib and crispy fried duck were tender, beautifully plated, and full of depth. Service was attentive, and the manager even stopped by to check on us. Valet parking was smooth and convenient, and the atmosphere was much improved. Still moody but comfortably lit. Rouser has really stepped up its game. Excited to come back for the next menu change on December 3. If you haven’t been in a while, it’s definitely worth another visit

Our server recommended the house rolls with honey and ash butter. It was delicious! I would highly recommend it. For my main entree I had the duck and was disappointed. It had a small amount of meat on it and tasted over fried. The bread that came with the duck dish was hard and not great. I didn’t end up eating it. My partner had the chicken dish and it was very flavorful and juicy. The service was amazing. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We visited for our anniversary and we were given the chocolate cake which was a really sweet gesture. It made our night.

Enjoyed a lovely NYE meal with our dearest family in town for the holidays, we chose against the 5 course meal so we could try more of the menu and it was the best decision of the night! We start we sampled: beats, rolls, tomatoes, and beef tar tar, followed by entree course with salmon, half chicken with fried rice and eggs, steak and fries, everything was incredible! After dinner we explored rm 119n and had lovely cocktails and zero proof cocktails to end the evening! This might just be our new family tradition to ring in the new year at the Union Pacific.

I think it’s hard to receive or give a high rating on food that is $50 or more per plate. Not only was the food quality impeccable, and incredibly tasty food with amazing service in an incredible environment. I got the New York steak and Fries and the banana churro dessert. Best steak I’ve had in awhile and the fries had a magical Parmesan drizzle amd seasoning. The remodel of that building is amazing. I’m looking forward to trying out the hotel rooms later this year.

This hotel’s breakfast restaurant exceeded expectations. The omelets were perfectly cooked, fluffy, and filled with fresh ingredients. The oatmeal was also a standout — creamy, flavorful, and served with great toppings. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Service was fast and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. A fantastic way to start the day!

Stayed at the Asher Adams October 2025, and Rouser is located conveniently at the lobby level right by the entrance. Very large restaurant with plenty of seating. Good for small and larger groups. SERVICE: Very friendly service from host stand to table. Our servers throughout our stay were very nice and attentive. More importantly, they remembered us and our preferences so we did not have to repeat everything each day. nice job!! FOOD: Fabulous! Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The plating was artful. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We tried several options, but our favorites were the Rouser Breakfast easy to mix and match your favorites. And, since I am carb conscious (Keto) - it's very easy to order sides to suit your needs. Great experience in Utah. This place is worth the try!!

Rouser has a nice vibe, the lighting is low, the music isn't too loud and it's a restaurant that feels like a big city haunt vs a SLC staple and that's definitely a good thing. Staff was attentive on a full Saturday evening. No complaints about the setting at all. Can we stop normalizing $18+ dollar cocktails in Salt Lake City? Drink prices were honestly absurd and the cheapest glass of red was $17. At least give the people some price point options with drinks. Honestly this was the theme of the meal, a place desperately trying to be upscale but lacking in polish and refinement. Rolls and butter were excellent, beet appetizer was very good. I had the steak fries and while it was cooked correctly, it was very under seasoned and tasted north of charred, almost burnt. Fries were fine, dipping sauce was tasty. My fiancée had the short rib and it was also okay. She liked the sweet potato more than the meat, which is saying something. We had the churro banana cream pie for dessert, very underwhelmed, crust was gummy and needed more churros (the added texture was nice). All in all this was a decent experience but nothing mind blowing. Will probably give it one more shot, but won't put this at the top of our rotation anytime soon.

Absolutely phenomenal. We were shocked as its attached to our hotel but the food was amazing. We couldn't stop commenting on it. The interior is beautiful and trendy as well. The Salmon was amazing. We were checked on frequently which was nice, even by a manager. The only negative was the dessert. It wasnt very good which was shocking to us. HIGHLY recommend

The location and ambiance of this place are beautiful. Set in the old train station and a throw back with distinctive charm and character. Very much a differentiated setting. Service was outstanding. From the greeter hostess, to our server to the countless staff who stopped by to refill drinks/clear plates/check-in, including the manager - they were all attentive, responsive, and helpful. While it was my first time eating here, my friend is a regular. Food wise, nearly everything was wonderfully delicious and beautifully presented.....of course we had to start with the Parker house rolls served with their special honey and seasoned butter. i agree that this is a must order...then we both got the heirloom tomato's - I've had a lot of heirloom tomato salads in my life and this was one of the absolute best ever from the combination of tastes and textures. portion size was also perfect....for entrees, my friend had the NY steak and fries which were excellent...i had the pollo a la brassa; the chicken was tender, flavorful and delicious. The fried eggs were a perfect complement to the fried rice underneath and the kimchi was a pleasant contrast (not spicy at all) and accompaniment to the dish. portion size was large!....the one menu item that was weird were the peas and carrots - while it was beautifully presented, and certainly accurately described (it's a cold dish), as much as I like carrots, peas, Greek yogurt, etc, it just didn't hit for me. There was plenty of food without it as we were too full to try any of their desserts. Would recommend this place for sure. Lots of other things I'd want to try on the menu. Given the price points, it does seem positioned as a special occasion/outing type of place vs. all the time.

Rouser offers a highly appealing experience, driven by its fancy and vibrant atmosphere and genuinely friendly and attentive service. The drinks were a significant highlight and the best part of the visit, perfectly matching the lively setting.

After two visits, I struggle with Rouser as a place I want to like much more than I actually do. I keep coming back to the core question of: What are they doing there that motivates me to drive a half hour and hit a valet for a meal? I'm not sure what the signature dish is. Up til now, the most memorable menu item are there sweet and savory rolls in a cast iron. The bean cassoulet was boring. The seafood tower was fine but not particularly unique. Enjoyed the scallops with just enough char. The service and the team there go about their work with a wonderful attitude and a passion for what they are doing. Bravo. And I I appreciate the storytelling angle of the place and the way it pays heritage to the coal powered locomotives that once inhabited the train station. But I'm not sure that's enough to drive me to going back once again.

The food was really good! The restaurant is super pretty and aesthetic! The staff was really nice and helpful! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is because the parking was a bit confusing and they only did valet, and then the food took a little over 45 min to come out and some items were a little cold, but it was still so good!!! Will definitely be coming back now knowing where to park!!

Honestly I wish there was a 3.5 star option! Went here with a big group for a dinner and had a mixed experience. Server was great. Some wines they had on menu they didn't actually have, so had to give substitutes. Some appetizers were great, like the beef carpaccio and the rolls were amazing. However the ribs weren't as good. Similarly, our group felt the entrees overall fell a bit short. Several people had the steak and fries, rating the dish as just okay. I personally had the short ribs and was disappointed when it came, definitely didn't 'fall off the bone' like you'd expect when ordering a short rib, it felt more like a steak I had to cut with my knife. Overall good experience but wouldn't jump to return next time I'm in SLC.

Great place! Really cool vibe, excellent service, fairly priced. The rolls were amazing, we got 2 servings of those. In the pics were the salmon, short ribs, cheesecake. I celebrated my birthday here and will absolute go back.

This place is BEAUTIFUL! It's very big with plenty of seating. We came here on a business dinner and all got sat in a great spot. Our server was SO NICE. She was very attentive and helpful. She had some help from other servers and again all of them were very nice, great staff! Overall the food was mid range for me. I didn't really like any of the entrees we ordered as they were semi flavorless (except for the scallops they were very good). HOWEVER the appetizers were SO GOOD! (especially the rolls!!!) I would go back to this restaurant to specifically eat the appetizers and get some of those rolls again, so so good. So overall a great spot and I would recommend the rolls and drinks but the entrees were not my favorite and I wouldn't order any again if I went back.

We visited my brother in Salt Lake City and they wanted to go somewhere for good food so we found this place. When we came, around 6 pm, the place was very empty, which is surprising for a Friday night. The other surprising thing is that service was so slow for how dead the place was. The food was just ok, but the drinks were good.

If you're the kind of person who needs to bathe in a cauldron of coffee before you can form words, The Rouser is your people. I arrived hollow-eyed and unfit for society, and the staff treated me with so patience for about an hour before I ordered. Once I reached full consciousness, I could finally grab some eggs and toast. Airy space, natural light, and a breakfast menu that understands the assignment. Nothing trying too hard, just solid, dishes.

Lovely fine restaurant in downtown SLC! There are not a lot of restaurants I can recommend that have delicious food, great service, AND lovely ambiance but Rouser has done it. I really liked all of the food I had, you can't go wrong with the three dishes I tried! I also got an espresso martini that was so yummy it made me want to order 10 more. Highly recommend!

Eclectic yet modern worldly menu that plated very farm to table with a touch of sophistication. Very personable and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!

Honestly this place doesn't get the credit it deserves. Everything is made over the charcoal grill and it was perfect. Flavor wise on point. Portioned perfectly. Our service was excellent and friendly. Very knowledgeable in wine and menus. I would recommend if you're in town.

Started with the Ash Cat and the Brass Buttons. Ash Cat was good, the Brass Buttons not so much -- it was overwhelmingly jalapeño flavored. The rolls are awesome, full stop. Great balance and the honey they are served with compliments them so well! On to the entrees. The crispy duck was great, although the portion was pretty small. It was served with cheesy corn that was great, but I felt it was a weird pairing. It also came with a good honey topped biscuit which fit the theme better. Our other entree was the short rib. It's high quality but definitely had a "gamier" taste to it that my wife wasn't thrilled about. The sides here were even more weird -- an undercooked potato and undercooked rice served with a spicy mole. The flavor pairings just don't make sense to me. On the side we went with the Mac which fully displays why cooking on charcoal is such a great experience, amazing flavor and well made. The broccolini could have used a bit less direct heat to cook through a bit more for how well done it looked. Overall I would come back but I definitely question the way that entrees were paired with sides. Service was great, and the ambiance was also pretty cool with open views of the kitchen and bar from the dining area.

This is really a cool placed that has brought new life to the old train station. A French brasserie concept at the heart of Salt Lake City with excellent service and a great seafood tower and steak tartare! You can get some great charcoal grilled piece of meat bringing back the memories of the charcoal that fueled back the locomotive back in the days. The ambiance is sophisticated and higher end yet modern and comfortable. I absolutely love the locomotive paintings and the train station historical vibes.

Restaurant ambience and decor was beautiful, but there were some issues here. Chicken appetizer dish came out concerningly undercooked. Other dishes were fine but the portions were pretty small given the high prices. Honestly wouldn't go back without some changes. Service was attentive and friendly, and the drinks were at least nice.

Don't do it! The building is amazing however the service and the food don not match with the price. Also tried to go to the whiskey bar bit that was closed for a private event. Cocktails were okay but took about 20 minutes to arrive. Unfortunately the cocktails came just about the time we had finished the appetizers. I do like the fact that the have triple filtered sparkling water on tap. Again this was just our experience.

Visited Rouser for the first time last night with my boyfriend with high expectations and high hopes as their menu looked fun and the interior is stunning! The new Asher Adams hotel lobby is gorgeous as well. We were a walk in and were able to immediately sit at the bar which was nice. The interior is in a dimmer setting than the hotel's lobby and bar with an open kitchen with bar seating. They did a very good job with renovating the train station, the only thing is the bathrooms are a little lackluster so if you're trying to take a cute picture in there, I'd recommend elsewhere haha. Our server was quick and attentive! For drinks we started with a Malbec from the reds list and my boyfriend got a beer. They brought us complimentary bread that was accompanied by an in-house made ash butter and honey and it was incredibly good. For our entrees, we ordered the Steak & Fries (ordered my steak medium) and the Salmon "Pastor". It took a little bit for it to come out but nothing crazy plus we learned it was their busiest night since opening so far! I am a huge steak lover and pretty particular to how it's cooked/how it tastes, I'll say my steak was a little under salted, a little fatty and not as warm as I'd prefer. I'd rate it a 6.5/10. My boyfriend's salmon was light and simple and he rated it an 8/10. All things considered, we will most definitely be back to try some other things on the menu. Good luck to the Rouser team!

We decided to eat dinner here on a whim. We were worried the hockey game would have it packed, but the bar viewing the wood fire stove and oven was open. Caleb was wonderful to observe and interact with...even working it out to make us a side of fried rice usually served only with the chicken. He also played along with my husband's joke of wishing he let us sample a discarded end of a steak...later giving us a "sample" that was generously sized. We ordered a shmorgazborg of small plates and veggie sides. ALL fabulous. Our server was inattentive, but Caleb made things happen. We will be back.

Was super excited to try out this new restaurant downtown. I had heard it was in an old train way car, so I knew it'd be a pretty cool place! The restaurant was amazing, such cool decor and vibes going on. I was with a bigger party so we had our own little room in the back which was nice. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu, she gave some great recs! We split a bunch of small plates including the park house rolls, Parmesan truffle fries, goat cheese dip with naan bread and the chicken legs app. All of the small plates were to die for, especially the rolls! We cleaned off every single plate including the side garnishes lol! For my main meal I got the gnocchi and my boyfriend got the steak and frites. Both were very good, although my boyfriend's steak was very raw for a medium rare. I personally loved the gnocchi, it doesn't look the most appetizing, but if you like mushrooms and gnocchi, you'll love it. The food took awhile to come out, which was the only negative. I also waited 30 minutes for a cocktail which was a little frustrating, but the drink was delicious. I tried something with Aperol spritz and it was very light and refreshing. A good new place to try if you're in the area. Can't go wrong with any of the small plates!

The duck was really good! My favorite dish, followed by the rolls. The service was great and the food had a lot of flavor. The brass button drink is jalapeño forward and not much cardamom. Some of the dishes, like the short rib, had a lot of competing flavors. The short rib was quality meat, almost to the point of a small amount of game (grass fed for sure), the mole has some spice and the rice was almost sweet. The Mac was very good, it has a nice charcoal taste. The broccolini was a little over charred but still nice and lemony. I would not suggest the beets because there were not enough

So we had breakfast there. Perhaps dinner is different but we won't be venturing back to find out 1. Food came out at all different times, there was literally no rhyme or reason 2. Breakfast potatoes were supposed to be leek potatoes, nary a leek to be found plus they were perhaps 5 minutes away from being just raw potatoes. They actually crunched from rawness when we attempted to eat them 3. My husbands food arrived a solid 20 min after the first dish was brought out 4. The ham "steak" on my eggs Benedict was so fatty you could not cut through it 5. Hollandaise sauce was supposed to be ok the side, it arrived on the ham...the avocado I ordered never arrived at all 6. English muffins ordered for children also never arrived until a final reminder. 7. Stood at the hostess desk for 10 minutes before being greeted by anyone 8. Restaurant was less than half full.

Really cool restaurant that is not only delicious but also an experience! Themed after the Union Pacific railroad station. There are a lot of cool ties to the railroad and old trains. Most of their dishes are cooked over charcoal. Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast here on a Saturday morning and the service was amazing!

Best short ribs I have ever eaten. Service was great. The music is a little loud which makes it harder for conversation. Nice specialty drink menu.

This was the second time eating here and the Parker Rolls are the most delicious rolls ever and the service is amazing!! Rami took care of us and he seriously was the best server we have ever had!!! Thank you Rami! You made our night!!

I always love trying new restaurants in my hometown of Salt Lake City and Rouser did not disappoint. The service was amazing and the food was ever better. The atmosphere was chill and classy at the same time. I will absolutely be back.

I asked if the gnocchi was vegetarian or could be vegetarian and I was assured by our server it was. It arrived and I ate some of the gnocchi, something seemed off. I proceeded to eat the (very salty) vegetables and underneath discovered what appeared to be ground pork. I was mortified but didn't want to make a scene with friends at the table, who were enjoying. (I later told my friend who said, "but you ASKED if it was vegetarian and she said yes!!!") I went to the bathroom to throw up. Why do restaurants think it is funny to lie to vegetarians? As I can't imagine any other reason why they would do this. I am still having severe GI issues a few days later and so felt compelled to write my review.

Food was great, as were the cocktails. Had the rolls and they were amazing. I had the Wagyu steak and my husband had the short ribs. We were both very happy with our meals!

Because we are experienced at trying to find a place to eat on New Year's Eve we made a reservation here 3 weeks ago. We know how hard it is to find a nice place the night of. Unfortunately two days before we get a message stating that there is a straight fee of $135 a person not including drinks. So we would have easily had to have spent over $300. The fact that they change it just 2 days before is completely unacceptable. Now to try and find a place to go on short notice will be extremely difficult. We really wanted to try this place as we love the idea but when you try to bleed your customers just because it's a holiday we will not ever actually come here. Do better!

The food is 4/5 but the ambience and staff get a 5/5! It's beautiful and fantastic for a hotel restaurant. Also the upstairs bar is very fun.

Blown out of the water at this place. Our waitress was one of the most attentive, knowledgeable, kind waitress I have had in years! The food was perfect and the drinks were top notch. Now onto the venue, so beautiful. While we waited for our table we went up stairs to the speakeasy, such a cool place!

My husband and I had dinner tonight and Kate was our server. She was exceptional! Our food was incredible! I had the waygu and fries and my husband had the ribeye, both were phenomenal! The vibe was excellent! We are already planning our next visit. Thank you!!

I had the scallops which were good. The presentation was lovely however very disappointed that the scallops were lukewarm and broccolini and the rest of food were cold. The server never filled my water glass which was empty and the only drink I had. It was my birthday and the chocolate ash cake was so yummy! The hotel restoration is grand.

A very very menu in terms of dishes, the main focus is everything cooked using a charcoal method. Small plates and large plates, I tried this scallops with mushrooms and was very pleased. The service is above and beyond with everything from bar staff to managers coming by to make sure that customers are happy. Speaking of the bar staff, they do an excellent job both pairing to the food as well as making cocktails as desired. It's an open kitchen, and it is fascinating to watch as all of the dishes are prepared.

Rouser is popular, there was a wait for a table. Disappointing expensive food. I got the $49 Duroc pork porcini. It was really fatty and greasy. Oooof! A nice thick pork chop would have been a better menu item. Wines had big city prices of $20 a glass, forcing a switch to beer. The building is magnificent, a restored train station, festooned with historic murals, with a cocktail bar set in the center of the main lobby.

It was my first time eating here and will not be my last. The service and food were top tier! Truly a delicious and wonderful experience dining here. I will be back for more of that fried rice!!

We had a delightful evening at this beautiful hotel and Resturant! The marketing on this restaurant and boutique luxury hotel is incredible. The lobby of this hotel, tells stories of the past and the travelers who have passed through it. The development group and Marriott have turned this historic train station in a destination location. We look forward to dining there, staying there and walking across the street to hockey and basketball games.

The ambience, service and overall experience was fabulous!! Nummy, classic desserts and drinks.

Kind of disappointing. The seafood tower was good (Crabcakes not made from fresh lump crabmeat however and were the usual restaurant variety). The lamb rack is only 1/2 of a rack, so 4 ribs. They were kind of mushy so maybe good that it was only 1/2. My grilled lamb rack is better. The duck was $120 and was also not great. There was a lot of it, but we thought mediocre. We didn't finish it. Mine is better. The branzino fish was good. Not dry and had good crisp skin. The truffle fries were quite excellent, but we were disappointed in the duck and lamb. We had some other sides which looked ok but I personally didn't try them. Six of us, $750. Well, we tried out the new place but unlikely we'll return. Sorry.

The ambiance looked and felt upscale, very high ceilings and softer lighting. The service was attentive and friendly. We were a party of seven. It was the food that was extremely disappointing, both from a price point and the portions served. We ordered two baskets of Parker House rolls, $8 for five. Nothing special about these rolls. Most establishments offer bread or rolls as part of their service. $52 for four very small Scallops. The scallops were accompanied with a very small amount of what was supposed to be mushrooms and broccolini. So overcooked it was difficult to know for sure, My wife's son, who was sitting across the table from me, pushed the last two rolls my way after he saw the amount of food on my plate. To his surprise and mine, his order of Gnocchi, $32, took up a smaller space on the plate than my scallops. I pushed the rolls back towards him. My wife ordered their Salmon Pastor $42. The portion served was about 4 ounces and was not cooked all the way through. We have been fortunate to dine at many fine, higher end restaurants in the states and abroad. We knew going in that the prices were what they were. We spent close to $400 for five people. Only two drinks. We were hoping for a great ambiance and great food. Unfortunately, we only got the ambiance. Bottom line ... there are many restaurants that offer better fare for the price.

Service is excellent and ambience is good. Food was not great. Spanish octopus was overly salted and tough. Chili was something I would get from any bar or pub in most states. There was really no choice with food options as everything was closed locally.

It's has potential but it's not quite right. Very attractive, great vibe and service but the actual product food and drinks is missing the mark. I was at the Asher Adams Hotel for work and decided to duck in for a cocktail and light meal before turning in. Ordered their take on the Boulevardier and it just did not hit, lacked flavor and should be using a local bourbon. Nice bartender and was friendly and nice but drink needed work. Had the beets and burrata it was fine but under seasoned and bland. I also tried the burnt ends and they were honestly bad. Burnt ends should be crispy on the outside and tender and inside. These were very tough and chewy and we're trying to do a chicharone crust but it was just a hide. The flavor was burnt and ashy not sweet and smoky and again under seasoned. Total bill for cocktail and 2 starters was $71. For what it was I thought it was a poor value. Has potential but they need to stop kidding themselves and be honest that the food needs work.

Save your time and money and go elsewhere. We had a horrible experience eating here last night and what I'm most upset about is with the way it was handled. Rather than actually crediting our bill for the disgusting, cold food we were served, they brought us extra drinks and took off the sides my friend was served. That was after they said they would "take care of us." I ended up paying $120 for 2 drinks and part of a piece of short rib that was mediocre, and I came home absolutely starving. The wagyu was cold, greasy, and tasteless. The potatoes were cold enough to be right out of the refrigerator. Rouser is pretentious and lacks substance. With the prices they are charging this food should be top-notch and the service impeccable. You'll notice they don't list prices online, but you're looking at $45-$72 entrees. We could have had a better experience at the taco truck down the street. I will never eat here again!! Oh and they don't take cash?!!! I'll also mention that the parking situation is so screwy. We tried parking in the vicinity for 35 minutes making us late to our friend's reservation. We then found out that there's valet parking for $12. When we arrived, the lot was full, so a guy from another lot came over and offered to park us for more $$. We were in a pinch and did it, but I've never been charged like this for parking. Usually it's tip based. So disappointed with the whole experience.
