Where to Eat and Drink When Visiting Ocean City, Maryland

"A new option for late-night eats opened in the spring, with breakfast available all day up until 4 a.m. Route 66 Diner opened in a former Dough Roller location, and the Americana-themed restaurant leans into diner food like grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, and buttermilk pancakes — with more crab than you’d see on a typical diner menu, like Benedicts with mini crab cakes." - Tierney Plumb, Adele Chapin, Tim Ebner

Route 66 Diner OCMD provides excellent food and service in a simple, no frills environment. The restaurant seating isn't comfortable, let me get that out of the way first. The table seats have thin padding and the booths are wooden. You won't come here for a luxurious experience, however, you will truly have a tasty meal with really great service. Our server, Nico, was fabulous. She was a sweetheart, engaged in polite conversation and checked on us often. Top notch service and we'd gladly dine in her section again! For $53 (without tip included), we had a soft drink, mozzarella sticks, beyond burger with cheese and topped with egg and French fries added (additional charges), and the chicken parmesan sammy topped with egg and French fries added (again, additional charges). Very fair costs for the entire meal and generous portions. Everything was delicious and cooked very well! The fries were crispy, the beyond patty was excellent and eggs were the perfect addition. The restaurant is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Restrooms weren't the cleanest or nicest, but they were alright. Again, this is a no frills diner but the food and service are absolutely amazing.

I visited the Route 66 Diner in the off-season, so it may not be representative. While the menu is a typical “diner” combination breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and a few entrees, you won’t find the typical huge menu like most diners. Service was attentive but the temperature in the dining room was chilly. All food in OC is all overpriced, but these folks are a bit less than some. I had the grilled cheese and French onion soup and it was very good - I couldn’t even eat all of the cheese! This is a perfectly serviceable choice for “regular” food in OC

The place is reminiscent of the old school roadhouses found while doing long hauls across country. No frills and what you see is what you get. Cool vibe with a jukebox and old fashioned cash register embellishing the joint. The food was pretty good... get mostly fried stuff - the wings were tasty and spicy, jalapeño poppers (cream cheese) were good, mozzarella sticks were on par. The Pizza Dip was really delicious with its garlic bread... the Bacon Cheeseburger was pretty decent as well, but the fries were perfect. Crispy and flavorful (for fries). Def a solid choice in a pinch. Recommended.

After reading some mixed reviews, we decided to give it a shot—in which we did not regret! Our waitress was very nice and attentive, checked on us a lot and even went into the kitchen to check on our food and brought it out herself! She apologized for the wait a few times and we understood, it was pretty busy! We saw some reviews about the food not being very good, overcooked, etc…but we honestly really liked it! The American Dream breakfast with French toast/pancakes was very tasty, would recommend :)

I came late in the morning, after breakfast but just before lunch. The service was adequate and quick, but the food was cold. It was seasoned well, and tasted good just not as fresh and warm as you might expect. The bathrooms are clean enough, with sand on the floor. The parking lot is spacious enough with plenty of parking for handicap.

The Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Sammy sandwich was to die for! So good!! The Black and Blue Crab sandwich (minus the chees) was good too, but not as good as that cinnamon roll. Both are local food specialties that you have to try out.

Generous portions, delicious food, the fries are amazing and slightly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, the menu has many options and our vegetarian requests were warmly received and perfectly executed. They have a beyond burger and I asked them to swap tomatoes for corned beef in a Reuben sandwich and it was perfect. Fun decor, full bar options but the place is very kid friendly. Breakfast all day!! Lori (sp.?, our waitress) was super cool and fun to talk to. We'll be back ASAP.

Was looking for someplace quiet to have dinner. Stopped by Wednesday evening around 7. Was met and greeted at the door by a friendly gentleman who welcomed me and took me to my table, letting me decide where to sit. (Offseason weeknight not too full.) Shortly thereafter was approached by my server who kindly introduced herself saying she'll be my server tonight, which was a nice touch, vs the basic can I get you something to drink. She took my order, made certain everything was correct, again, very nice touch, preventing any missteps that might occur. Food came out promptly, Carmen (my server) checked back to make sure everything was satisfactory and, she did the right thing by phrasing her question, how is everything, vs is everything OK. By doing that, she let me say great, wonderful, etc instead of setting the bar low by asking only OK. Very nice touch. Nothing fancy, no frills, just good food, good service set in a friendly atmosphere. Many other restaurants along the highway could take a lesson from these nice people.
