My friend found this bakery while we were staying in the area and we were blown away by everything we got. The baguette was perfectly crunchy, with a soft inside. The potato salad was delicious, and the almond croissant made me wish I had bought a dozen. I will be back to try the pizza and buy more bread!

This place is a hidden little gem. The food is spectacular. We had a few items starting with the Bacon Foccai bread. It was savory and delicious, it was 7$ and worth every penny me and my wife finished it immediately. Next up, we had the almond croissant. Hands down the best almond croissant I have ever tasted, this is one of my favorite breakfast items, and I have never had one this good. We also ordered a latte and mocha, which were delicious but nothing to out of the ordinary. We also go their browned buttered chocolate chip cookies, and they are just a little piece of heaven. I can't wait to go back and try the pizza and meatball Sub. I'll update once I do. It is located on the corner of beautiful Tomales and is great atop before heading out to the beach.

Google
Awesome stop for food and beer. We enjoyed the pepperoni.pizza. Which was a thick bread with cheese sauce, and pepperoni. One slice is good for two servings. The meatballs were incredibly delicious. Sauce on point. Very cheesy. But not overly so. Fun vibe and ourdoor seating

Google
We stopped in for a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee. Be sure to pick up one of their baked goods. The focaccia bread was so incredibly delicious!

Mary Barrion

Google
Going here is always a treat I always get their seasonal salad because they serve the seasonal veggies. The meatballs are so moist and yummy. The pastries always GOOD we got the hot cocoa croissant and ate it for breakfast the next day. So good warmed up and toasted

Google
The pizza was delicious!! We were a little confused about how to order, but figured it out. It's a walk-up counter and you order at the window. We were there on a Thursday, so could only order slices of pizza, but the slices are very generous. We also got a fresh loaf of sour dough bread, meatballs, and pasta salad. The food was all so good! We ordered glasses of wine while we waited the 10-15 minutes for our order. Cute spot in downtown Tomales.

Google
We always stop off at this bakery when we camp at Lawson's Landing. Focaccia is absolutely amazing, but have to get there within a few hours of opening or they will sell out. Same with the almond croissants.

Erinn Millar

Google
Was fortunate to get the last GF muffin before they sold out. Popular stop for fresh baked goods and sandwiches, artfully displayed. Some outoor seating and shade.

Yelp
I'm a long time fan... So don't kill the messager. Bakery goods/ bread..epic.. nothing better! Pizza..well, Is it pizza or a Focaccia bread w/ toppings? I'm going w/ focaccia!! Good but not a " go back for " item Keep up the good work all .

Yelp
Great bakery off of route 1 - got the olive bread, which was amazing, and the kougin aman - had never tried it before, and while the was quite good, think in general I prefer chocolate croissants. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Yelp
A MUST stop while driving/cycling along CA1. A few years ago, my husband and I stumbled across this place while in the area and decided to try their kouign amann. It was our first one and we were hooked on the flaky buttery layers with caramel crust and bright fruity filling. Then the pandemic happened and we hunted all over for more of them in our local area. Despite having found really good ones, we could never get route 1 bakery out of our minds and wondered if it was just the first time magic or if that particular pastry was truly the "queen among" all the others. We have since been back and I can confirm that this is the best kouign amann I've ever had. I will gladly drive 1-2 hours on any given weekend to satisfy my pastry craving. Their other baked good selection and coffee is also great, but the real star is their kouign amann.

Yelp
As I was looking for a place for lunch on our way home from an overnight trip to Bodega Bay, I found this place. The hubby really loves pizza, and they seem to be known for their pizza, so I thought we'd stop here. It's about half an hour south of Bodega Bay on Hwy 1. We got there a little before 11 am, so we waited a few minutes to order. Thankfully it wasn't too cold as they don't have an indoor dining area. They have some barrels set up on the sidewalk with stools for sitting. We ordered a Pepperoni and a Jabroni which has mozzarella, aged provolone, veal and pork sausage and spiced broccoli rabe. Each was $11. Not sure why people are complaining about the value of the pizza. The pizzas were a good size and $11 is a good price. I make pizza at home and I usually cold ferment the dough for 2-3 days, so it takes time and patience. You don't have to go through all that for $11. Loved the dough. It was light, airy and the toppings and sauce were just perfect. I would highly recommend stopping by here or taking a slight detour. So worth it. I was just sad that I didn't get to try their croissants and other pastries. We were too late for them. Even though we came on a Monday morning, they were sold out. Glad I got to try the pizza though. Next time we're in the area, you bet we're stopping by here. And if you want to walk off some of the calories, Dillon Beach is a less than a 10 minute drive.

Yelp
I went on a Monday morning at around 9:30 and bought a seeded sourdough round and it was absolute delicious and very expensive $11. I also got a latte which was very good too. They had a food truck out front. Despite the price of bread I will still buy there, just not two loaves as I normally would.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Magical sourdough sold hot, and the focaccia is out of this world! We dropped in two mornings in a row for breakfast treats. If they offer the bacon egg and cheese English muffin, get it and thank me later. They have a quick walk up window which we loved. A must for any trip to the coastal stays such as Dillon beach!

Yelp
strange encounter! Yesterday a group of us stopped here for coffee/food. My friend and I intended on splitting an iced Americano. Easy enough, correct? But nooooo, we were refused one as, get this, they cannot "give out" water (verbatim), and since the Americano contains coffee and water we were refused! We got an iced espresso drink of some sort which was very good, and my friends also got some nice snacks and iced drinks. I do appreciate how Route One has arranged to offer the use of the bathroom to patrons of the place next door in the adjacent part of the building as well as those of Route One, instead of making people traipse over to the park or worse. But back to the Americano.... aren't ice cubes made of water? Aren't espresso drinks expressed with water and dishes washed with the (assumably same) water? Maybe there was a misunderstanding and I hope this can be clarified.

Yelp
A wonderful stop if you are going to or from Tomolas or in the area. Amazing breads freshly baked, cookies that looked and smelled divine, lots of other tempting pastries and freshly made treats. The coffee drinks were very popular, and the selection of teas made me very pleased. So happy to have an organic, herbal, yummy tea selection. Great, friendly service. Outside seating and street parking.
google avatar

Melanie H.

Yelp
Route One Bakery has a welcoming ambiance. It's a street cafe with outdoor seating, with a covered walk-up window. The service was friendly and prompt. I tried: Garlic Herb Focaccia, Olive Round, Almond Croissant, Chocolate croissant, and plain croissant. All were fresh and absolutely Delicious. There is parking across the street along highway 1. I will return to try more.
google avatar

Donna W.

Yelp
Delicious yummy bread and pastries. Across the street from an adorable country store.

Yelp
Wow, shared a slice of thick crust pizza. Spicy pepperoni, tasty, tangy sauce and just enough cheese, but not too much. The deep dish reminded me of the Detriot style crust. Fluffy enough but with a perfectly crisp crust and good bread flavor. I'm already craving another slice. Can't wait to try other things, it's worth the hour drive!
google avatar

Yelp
We were staying near here and had lunch. Great place for pizza! Our whole family enjoyed the Stracciatella whole pie and the mushroom slice. Delicious!
google avatar

Gikky A.

Yelp
Stopped by here after picking up some oysters at tomales bay. The pizza was delicious but didn't realize one slice could feed 2 people. We definitely over ordered. The espresso chip bread pudding was good in flavor but just a tad bit on the dry side. Carrot cake was yummy. Nice place to check out on the way to the beach.

Yelp
Stopped by here after taking my dogs to Dillion Beach and I'm so glad they have this little gem here! Their pizza is so amazing that I can't wait to go back and try every one. This place also makes delicious breads, croissants, and desserts from scratch so definitely check them out. They do have a lovely dog friendly out door patio where you can sit and wait after you order from the register.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the way this little corner café restaurant is set up! Everything is really blocked off from the public except it was incredibly windy! Their flatbread pizzas looked scrumptious!! Sadly I have so many food allergies I couldn't eat anything from here due to my allergy to gluten, eggs and dairy. Lol but everything smells and look delicious!!

Yelp
Staying 10 days in Dillon Beach. Been here twice, hope to make it 3 times before we go home. We've tried the whole pepperoni pizza, a bunch of pastries, and the jalapeño cheddar bread. Pizza is very thin crusted. I saw other people with thicker single slices so maybe there are other kinds, but when you order a whole pepperoni pizza just know that it's ultra New York style thin. And it's amazing. Genius pizza. We're from San Jose and you can find anything good anytime but this has got to be top 5 of my fat and chubby life. Please get this. I hate San Jose now. Why can't we make a pizza? Jalapeño cheddar bread (loaf) is also outstanding. I don't get how it's so good. At home, I buy jalapeño cheddar loaves at farmers markets and they are garbage compared to this. I'm forever spoiled. Pastries - boyfriend tried 4 of them. I tried one that looked like a frosted, braided muffin. It was honestly the best pastry I have ever had. On our way home I hope to stock up on these. The staff were so sweet and helpful. Such nice, kind souls. Felt like friends. If you are thinking of stopping by here, go for it. You'll love it. The earlier the better because things sell out early.

Yelp
The best almond croissant I ever had!! Thought it was a fluke so went back and no it's amazing! Went last week and got a seasonal focaccia with apples and rosemary and I almost crashed my car on the way home because it was so delicious. My only wish is that they had an indoor eating area for cold days but I'll gladly get it to go and on nice days sit on Dillon beach and enjoy it there. Love this little gem!

Terri J.

Yelp
Soo yummy. Pizza was delicious and just the right amount of crunch on the crust, generous amount of pepperoni.
google avatar

Ricardo S.

Yelp
A long drive for okay pizza (more akin to a focaccia). Popular coffee place. Bikers everywhere.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in with friends on our way to Dillon beach. Each of Us Ordered a slice of pizza. A bit in shock that a slice was $12. I soon was presented with a huge slice of delicious margherita pizza. It was the size of a personal pizza. Fresh and delicious. Worth every penny. Will be back again next beach trip.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
I've had pizza here that was the best maybe I've had outside of New York. The crust was perfect! But if you go at a different time or day they don't have the thin crust pizza and offer only slices of some kind of thick bread with pepperoni on top.they don't tell you about the change so you brace yourself for a shock if you go on the wrong day.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing bakery!!! Owner is so special- knowledgeable and sweet. Unique flavors I have not been able to find anywhere: *specifically* their passion fruit croissant! Blew my friggen mind! My husband swears by their bread, and he's a huge bread snob so that says a lot. He says get their cheese twists (and I would agree!) It's off the beaten path but if you're around, take the time to stop!
google avatar

Juana P.

Yelp
Great little bakery/pizzeria on the coast. Bread, pastries, and pizzas are excellent. Can get busy on weekends, but always worth it. No indoor seating, but several tables outside and some covered counter space.

Shawn G.

Yelp
I love this place. On a quiet weekday, town is silent and cozy. Great coffee. The thing I like best is the square pizza. Essentially on focaccia bread with great local cheeses and sauce. With pepporoni and ask for Mike's Hot Sauce (which is sort of a misnomer, its more sweet with a hint of hot) which is delicious and a huge serving. The fresh breads, of course, people travel miles to get.
google avatar

Lydia K.

Yelp
My friends and I did a road trip and we stayed the night in Tomales. In the morning we went to the bakery before heading out and honestly one of the best spots I've been to. They had the largest, softest, most flavorful focaccia bread for $5 and my mind was blown. The cookies here and pastries my friends bought were equally amazing. Highly recommend stopping by.
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
We accidentally stumbled upon the Route One Bakery in Tomales and that was a great thing. We were there for the breakfast session two days in a row. The baked goods are fantastic. We tried a sourdough loaf, a ham and cheese croissant, an egg biscuit and pecan rolls. All were completely satisfying. The coffee and outdoor service completed the nice visits. It's worth a stop on the way through. We need to plan our next stop for afternoon pizza and sandwiches.

Nicolas M.

Yelp
Last time I went to Tony's seafood at Marshall I was blown away by their bread and they told me where I can find it. So today I went first to Tomales to buy their seeded bread, only to have the last one purchased by the person in front of me in line. I thought I'd give the Jalapeño bread a chance, since I was later going to have my favorite bread at Tony's. Boy did the jalapeño bread not disappoint! Both breads I've tried and carrot cake were excellent. The best bread and cake I've had since moving to then Bay Area 2 years ago and I'm writing this 3 doors down from Tartine. Makes the commute from SF 100% worth it.
google avatar

Charlie Y.

Yelp
Had lunch at Marshall Store and learned they get all the bread from Route 1, and that the businesses are connected. After hearing the pizza was amazing at R1 and an extended lunch at MS, we had to go to Tomales to check out AND get a couple pizzas and loaf of bread to go. So glad we did, and look forward to sharing this with others up for an adventure from the Bay Area. It's so worth an an afternoon out

Yelp
This is a must stop for all Pizza lovers on their way to/from Dillon Beach. One slice of this perfectly baked pie is enough to fill up a big guy like myself (don't make the mistake of ordering to much, however I did box it up and eat it later at home so I guess it wasn't a mistake!) The authentic flavors include, pepperoni, margarita, mushroom, and pineapple...joking, joking we all know that's not acceptable. This place has many other items on the menu to reach all the taste buds neglected by the savory pizza sauce. Delicious pastries, sweets, beer and all sorts of wine. I don't even like salads, yet I ate an entire Caesar salad because of how flavorful it was! ps. be sure to grab some ice cream next door.
google avatar

Dallas S.

Yelp
We stopped the car immediately on the way home after having meh lunch at Tony's Seafood once I saw the sign and name of the bread bakery from Tony's Menu. It was the best part of lunch! Lucky for us they had just one Sourdough Batard left - BEST SOURDOUGH WE'VE HAD IN YEARS!
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Great place to get pastries if you're there in the morning. Go early, before stuff sells out. They sell their bread to all the local restaurants, so we got to try all different kinds when we ate at Tony's, Dillon Beach Resort Cafe, and Hog Island. The pizza after 11 is great too, hits the spot after a beach day! Slices are very good portions.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
An incredible bakery to find right near Dillon Beach California. It was early Saturday so we headed out early, right after we ordered it was swamped! Great stuff
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
The pizzas are here, the pizzas are here! I loved the dough, both as a blistered traditional round and the deep dish Detroit style with beautifully carmelized cheese all around the edges. Toppings for today we're buffalo mozzarella, kalamata olives and pepperoni. Tasty, fresh pies and nice local folks.
google avatar

Debbie M.

Yelp
Delicious pizza and the drive itself is beautiful. Wish they made more cinnamon sticks...they are delicious...pizza is also excellent.
google avatar

Emily F.

Yelp
Great wine and beer selection and top notch pizza--seriously the best I've had in years. I've literally never left a review before but they deserve it!! Absolutely swing by, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
After a full day of fun at Dillon beach we had our sights on finding a place to fill our belly's and we found this spot on our way back.cool spot, great location plenty of parking if you get creative in were you park,I parked across the street at the postal office.placed order outside at counter they had pizza, meat ball sandwich, salads, cookies cold drinks-soda and beer.guy at the counter was friendly, solid spot to get a bite to eat it's not crappy roadside food, this place is legit!
google avatar

Rosa H.

Yelp
Food is worth the stop, even with no ocean view. Pizza is excellent and they have a veggie (or vegan) butternut squash sandwich that was great.

Patricia L.

Yelp
The Sourdough bread is AMAZING. I only wish they had a bakery near Novato, California.
google avatar

Bette T.

Yelp
World class bakery!!!!!! Absolutely fabulous breads, pastries, and cookies!! What a gem.
google avatar

Yola S.

Yelp
Great Pizza choices, my granddaughter just love it! Shortbread cookies were delicious and the twist and croissants are delish!

Arianna N.

Yelp
Highlights: friendly staff, cute outdoor patio area, and the pizza was superb! If you're on your way to Bodega Bay, this is a lovely snack stop. First, the pizza. I got two slices, the mushroom one and the kale, bacon and pickled onions. The crust was a crispy sourdough so it was more doughy and bread-y. Really filling and I loved the shaved manchego on top. You can tell from the taste that they use farm fresh ingredients, and they don't skimp on the cheese! We ended up walking half a block down the street to eat our slices in the community park at one of the picnic tables there. There's also public bathrooms that are relatively clean for free use.

Klikety K.

Yelp
0/2 after following Pacific Times write up. Caesar salad uses a whole jar of dressing and a whole brick of parm. Worst salad ever. Pizza slices do not note they come with parm - why ruin a $10 slice? Just keep going.
google avatar

Brooke R.

Yelp
THE best focaccia we've ever had. Also went back for breakfast and the breakfast sandwich was perfect. Coffee also was really good. They also had a big selection of pastries that many people were ordering but we didn't order those. Probably should have.
google avatar

Molly R.

Yelp
Super cute place and the desserts were really yummy! We also got focaccia, which was very crispy and delicious. The pizzas looked amazing as well!
google avatar

Suz B.

Yelp
Passed through the area Christmas Weekend. It had been years since we had been to this bakery (don't even think the same people own it?). Anyway, got the pecan bun/danish and some savory twisty cheese thing in the morning for a bit of a nosh, gosh, both were good. We wanted to get some soup for later, but it wasn't ready. We came back but the soup that we wanted--which was on the board earlier had been changed to a soup we did not want. A bit of a wasted trip! We did get a focaccia bread to go with the salads we had, but it was really disappointing. A rather dry and not flavorful bread. Except the sliced lemon on top was bitter and had a slight burning sensation in the mouth, so not really a good flavor. And waaaaaay too much oil. And even so, all that oil could not cut the dryness. Not really a pleasant bread, so it didn't get eaten after the first couple of bites. We kicked ourselves that we just didn't get a baguette which we were told by another customer are excellent. So, the 3 stars go to the morning nosh eats. The rest well...

Yelp
If you are on the way to Dillon Beach or bodega bay this pizza place/bakery is worth stopping by. My husband and I discovered it on the way to bodega bay. They have incredible wood oven pizza. Perfect crust, not too burnt or too crispy. But not doughy either. It's perfectly done. They also make a delicious Cesar salad. We also got a few cookies which were amazing. Awesome helpful service, we are always greeted with a smile. It's a delicious meal before or after a day at the beach. They have a few nice wines and a variety of craft beers to wash pizza down with. Now whenever we visit the area we make it a point to stop by route 1 for a pizza fix. I actually find myself craving it back home in oakland ca. It's very worth going out if you're way for.
google avatar

Sandra C.

Yelp
Really great meatball sandwich which was HUGE as well as margarita pizza slice , also very large portion. The sauce on both was fresh and very flavorful. Dessert was a house made oatmeal cranberry cookie. Outside seating only.
google avatar

Yelp
So delicious! A must stop for travelers and locals alike. All homemade items and fresh ingredients.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Such a great little spot with a little bit of everything. Our group was particularly fond of the almond croissants and the gluten free muffins for breakfast. And then you can go back for dinner and get some really good pizza!
google avatar

Lucinda K.

Yelp
Great customer service along with delicious pastries and pizza!!! Such a cute little place.
