Rove Cafe & Kitchen opened recently in Peru, formerly Green Acres Restaurant.
The place is cozy and casual which has table seating and counter seating (5 high seats). They serve all day homestyle breakfast and lunch. The breakfast menu offerings include egg dishes, bennies, omelets, pancakes French toast, Belgian waffles, hash, and breakfast sides. The lunch offerings include sandwich plates, burgers, fish & chips, quesadilla, and big salads. The prices here seem reasonable.
I stopped by Rove Cafe just after 1pm when the busy period was slowing down. I walk in and I could sit at anywhere I wanted to. I sat at a table near the counter and the server promptly arrived with a menu and took my drink order (ice water). I was trying to decide between the fish & chips, mixed berries French toast (a popular item) or the country fried steak with 2 eggs. I went with the latter and it was served to me in about 12 minutes. The big plate of food had soft scrambled eggs, grilled country potatoes, a buttery toasted English muffin (Smuckers jams at table), and a Large homemade lightly breaded & pounded thin grilled beefsteak smothered with a thick sausage gravy. This breakfast was so good and very filling. As I was finishing my food, the check was presented which was $14.58 with tax and before tip.
Overall, a wonderful big breakfast plate and prompt service. I would definitely recommend if you happening to be passing through the Plattsburgh area.
