Essential SF Burger Destination Rove Kitchen Has Closed “Indefinitely” | Eater SF

"In Lower Nob Hill, Rove Kitchen—small but mighty and particularly known for its burger and fried chicken sandwich—has closed indefinitely; chef/owner Ryan Yema announced the news on Instagram, and Eater SF has reached out for details. Fans will have to live without Yema’s signature ground short-rib patty with aged cheddar, arugula, and onion jam on a homemade bun, which was still being sold for $10 on the restaurant’s last reported night in business, January 24. The closure will feel familiar to longtime followers: Rove previously shut six months after opening in 2015 when a massive rent hike nearly forced it to move, though Yema ultimately reached an agreement with his landlord and stayed; it’s unclear whether a similar dispute is to blame this time, so stay tuned." - Caleb Pershan

My new breakfast spot in Peru. Quaint decor reminds me of farmhouse kitch with old lady lace. Printed paintings and some old country tools. Old furniture and used booths, family run, family and friends frequented. The staff are very warm and friendly and they don’t rush you. Very casual so come as you are. The menu is short but the choices are tough. I chose the smokehouse Benedict. I’m not usually a fan of the sweet but this was a good choice. The potatoes were simple and delicious and not deep fried. So good. We will be returning to try the other offerings

We loved this spot. We were camping and stopped in for breakfast two days in a row. Pro: Reasonable prices. Eggs Benny are too die for. Best i have had. Those country potatoes 🥔 ate the bomb! Staff are the nicest folk and super attentive. Atmosphere is cosy. Food delivery is quick Food is excellent. Lots of parking. Only con is Coffee could use an upgrade.

I'm a regular. A great place in Peru, New York. It's always moderately crowded. Never too long a line but crowded enough so that you know the food is good and the prices are good. Very reliable. Very good service and great staff. The food is very tasty, fast and well priced.

Unique menu with fun seasonal touches. The food was phenomenal. And I genuinely will never be able to order a latte ever again, they will always be disappointing compared to the one I had at Rove.

Visiting Vermont from Florida, made a detour through here on our way to Canada just to check this place out. Totally worth it! So tasty the pancakes were lightly sweet with crispy edges, and whatever they season their country potatoes with they are so good, best breakfast potatoes I have ever had! Vanilla latte was not only beautiful but tasty and not overly sweet. Atmosphere was good a little small but everyone was so nice.

My second time having breakfast here. Today I came with my 2 year old. The food was incredible as always. Everything looks just as good as it tastes. The banana cream latte was refreshing yet full of flavor. However, the service/friendliness of the owner and staff really is what makes this place 5 stars. There was a misunderstanding on my part but the patience and kindness the owner showed me was top tier and absolutely will not be forgotten. Thank you so much. We can’t wait to go back.

Came up for a wedding and needed a legit breakfast spot. As I drove by, I didn’t just see this place—I smelled it! The irresistible aroma practically dragged me out of the car. The staff was super friendly, and I swear I was seated in less than 90 seconds. The food? Pure comfort on a plate, like breakfast at Grandma’s house. If you're craving something delicious, hearty, and reasonably priced, this is the place to be!

Yelp
I work at a summer camp in the Adirondacks and I'm always looking for a nice place to eat when I have time off. Rove is a treasure that I'm so happy I found. Their staff warmly greeted me as I walked in. Their recommendations helped me pick from their menu that was full of good choices. Definitely a great way to start your day!

Yelp
Still the best brunch place around the block a year later! By far my favorite restaurant in Peru bar none! The service by Angelina and the crew is amazing. They are quick and easygoing. Love this place, come for the vibes, and stay awhile!

Yelp
A must go-to! The food is natural, organic, with locally sourced ingredients. It is truly AMAZING! I have been multiple times and never had a bad meal. The service is nice and friendly. A very cute diner like ambiance for perfect Sunday brunch. Ask for their coffee menu, they have so many delicious combinations that you have to try! I'll be back for the maple hollandaise !!!

Yelp
We ordered take out due to time restraints, but we will return to enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious!

Yelp
The food was delicious! Huge portions that were packed with flavor in every bite! The pancakes were delightfully sweet and fluffy. The corned beef has was real, not that canned mush that most restaurants sell you. Can't wait until my visit!

Yelp
Rove Cafe & Kitchen opened recently in Peru, formerly Green Acres Restaurant. The place is cozy and casual which has table seating and counter seating (5 high seats). They serve all day homestyle breakfast and lunch. The breakfast menu offerings include egg dishes, bennies, omelets, pancakes French toast, Belgian waffles, hash, and breakfast sides. The lunch offerings include sandwich plates, burgers, fish & chips, quesadilla, and big salads. The prices here seem reasonable. I stopped by Rove Cafe just after 1pm when the busy period was slowing down. I walk in and I could sit at anywhere I wanted to. I sat at a table near the counter and the server promptly arrived with a menu and took my drink order (ice water). I was trying to decide between the fish & chips, mixed berries French toast (a popular item) or the country fried steak with 2 eggs. I went with the latter and it was served to me in about 12 minutes. The big plate of food had soft scrambled eggs, grilled country potatoes, a buttery toasted English muffin (Smuckers jams at table), and a Large homemade lightly breaded & pounded thin grilled beefsteak smothered with a thick sausage gravy. This breakfast was so good and very filling. As I was finishing my food, the check was presented which was $14.58 with tax and before tip. Overall, a wonderful big breakfast plate and prompt service. I would definitely recommend if you happening to be passing through the Plattsburgh area.

Yelp
Wow! What a great place! Where to begin? First the staff is so nice! Our waiter was great! We were a large group so we were sat at a beautiful wooden table. The coffee was delicious but the pièce de résistance was the Irish Benedict! I don't think I have ever had eggs Benedict as good as I had here at the Rove Cafe! I am so looking forward to the next time I get to visit. If you're ever in the area give them a try!!

Yelp
Great breakfast menu. It is hard to find solid breakfast choices in the Adirondacks. This is good as it gets, with all different kinds of choices - berry filled pancakes, all types of omelets, eggs Benedict, and huevos rancheros. Most important, it is all prepared really well, and the place hums with efficient and friendly service.

Yelp
Breakfast here was excellent! We had the corned beef hash, Denver omelette and pancakes. Well seasoned and cooked. Great hospitality as well!

Yelp
What a great experience! The staff were friendly and efficient, the food delicious. We ordered a number of dishes to share. Lamb stew with beer bread, strawberry- banana pancakes, eggs Benedict and eggs-sausages and toast. It was all wonderful!

Yelp
Excellent home made food, will be back and recommend to anyone looking for an amazing breakfast.

Yelp
Affordable, delicious food. Plus, friendly service and good ambiance! I wish I lived in the area so I could come here more often.

Yelp
Delicious brunch!!!! Variety of eggs Benedict---each distinct and delicious. Served with potatoes. Burgers are very tasty. A bright spot on the dining scene.

Yelp
The food is not good at all! Ordered a ruben sandwich today with french fries and the quality of the food was dumpster material! The fries tasted like they were microwaved and hard as a rock! the ruben bread was so soaked it was like oatmeal mush and the pastrami smelled like a garbage can . not impessed
