Google
Coffee was fine, but not great, and service was OK but not exceptional. Convenient spot and a nice quiet ambience if that’s what you’re looking for, but not the best around. We came here with our kids and it was definitely not gonna be a good place for them given a pretty quiet environment so they mostly hung out outside. We got a vanilla latte and a brown sugar latte, both of which were overly sweet, and a kids hot chocolate.

6/5 Finally good crossaint dough . The spinach saag was amazing. Went back for another. They apparently come from a whole sale called back porch bakery that's vegan My friend really liked the espresso as well Place gets a bit busy around 10-12 Nice old school feel to the place

Rowan Coffee is the kind of café that instantly makes you want to slow down and savor the moment. The atmosphere is warm, minimal, and beautifully curated—perfect for meeting a friend or just enjoying a quiet coffee break. We ordered an Americano, a Cortado, and one of their sugary lattes, and every drink was spot on. The Americano was bold and smooth, no bitterness—just clean, rich espresso flavor. The Cortado was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of milk, silky texture, and a strong espresso backbone. The sugary latte was the fun twist—sweet, cozy, and delicious without being overwhelming. It hit the spot and felt like a treat. You can tell they really care about quality and presentation here. Service was friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. Everything from the vibe to the espresso was dialed in. If you love great coffee in a beautiful space, Rowan Coffee is a must. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
5-star stop at this cozy coffee shop! We ordered cortados, americanos, and a brown sugar espresso drink—each one was spot on. The cortados were smooth and balanced, americanos bold and rich, and the brown sugar drink had just the right touch of sweetness. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, perfect for a slow morning or catching up. Our barista was fantastic—super friendly, helpful, and clearly knew their craft. Great service, excellent coffee, and a spot we’ll definitely return to.

Rowan Coffee: Where Every Espresso is a Standing Ovation Rowan Coffee has cracked the code to making your daily caffeine fix feel like a red-carpet affair. Google
In town visiting for a week and I’ve tried a different coffee place every day. This one is by far my favorite! The raspberry croissant and the caprese focaccia were both INCREDIBLE and the Lavender Honey Latte was amazing. Highly recommend!

Google
Wonderful coffee. I got a seasonal drink and it was delightful- really flavorful without being sugary sweet. Cool atmosphere inside. Food was more pastries / quiche options than a full menu.

Google
Ummm…the place was just okay. I was driving back to CLT and thought to stop by a coffee shop, found this and tried it. They didn’t had many options for vegans so all I got was a vanilla oat milk latte. Wish there were more options. Cute arrangement, be prepared to struggle with parking though.

Yelp
Iced oat matcha latte Beautiful glass Beautiful music Recommended by a local salon Mellow vibes Studiously moody in back Library-esque Lighter near front windows

Yelp
Ordered an oat milk lavender honey latte and a pour over. The latte was good, and not overly sweet, quite subtle and smooth. The pour overs are made 3 at a time (at least when we were there) so it took a bit but was ok. My brother in law quite liked the pour over - he wasn't expecting a light roast so it was a bit acidic but he said once he added cream it was really good. The prices seemed quite high, but we were expecting that thanks to the reviews.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and vibe. The barista was friendly and welcoming. I ordered a matcha latte and ham and cheese croissant which were excellent. Plenty of seating! This place is obviously popular with locals and I can see why- unfussy menu, excellent drinks and a welcoming vibe.

Yelp
A small coffee shop with a variety of selection of coffee, tea, and pastries. The baristas served the coffee fast. My friend also got an almond croissant which was warm with a custard-like filling. The cashier also helped me with choice of a bag of coffee beans which was roasted in this shop. There are some tables and seating area. However it was pretty crowded on weekend mornings so be prepared to grab

Yelp
Good coffee variety and seasonal drinks, unique and comforting ambience, and quick but friendly service. Would definitely recommend stopping here for a coffee and maybe even picking up one of their cool tshirts!

Yelp
So I was in Asheville for a weekend and I knew that besides beer, Asheville has some great coffee spots! After some research I wound up at Rowan Coffee and Im SO HAPPY I did! The interior is lovely giving subtle lowkey vibes and giving the perfect spot to meet with friends or get some work done. Guys the coffee... it's amazing!!! I had the cold brew and it was silky smooth with a chocolate finish. In the picture my friends had their seasonal pumpkin latte and I stole a sip and WOW was it good! Besides the coffee everyone was very friendly and the shop is also dog friendly which automatically gives extra points haha. Definitely stop by for a coffee while here!

Jocelyn Q.

Yelp
Friendly, talented staff. Really cool exterior and large and unique interior. My drink was fabulous and made with artisan craftsmanship!

Sheri R.

Yelp
Nice cozy place, pub atmosphere (without the alcohol), great coffee drinks! Service is good. It closes early, and being downtown, parking can be a bit of an issue.

Yelp
I can definitely see why this place pretty much has all five stars! I got their specialty winter latter which was truly one of the best I've had (and I'm a big flavored/specialty latte person). Loved the candied orange touch. All the pastries were incredible as well, we had: - Spinach and cheese croissant - wow, best croissant sandwich ever (make sure to get it heated) - Cardamom bun- similar to a cinnamon bun, very gooey (wish it came a bit warmer though) - Quiche (good but my least favorite of the tree (had a few cold patches so wish it came hot) Cute ambiance, would be a perfect place to work during the day as well, a surprisingly fair amount of seating

Kristin K.

Yelp
Just damn good coffee. Highly recommend. It's been a while; was in town in December. I think the drink I had was called the winter solstice. Rosemary and candied orange slice. Absolutely loved it. Big fan of treating coffee as a base for a craft "cocktail" experience; I'm utterly bored with basic vanilla/caramel/chocolate coffee drinks. Don't get me wrong, vanilla/caramel/chocolate coffee drinks are tasty, I'm just bored with them. Rowan Coffee brews a mean bean, and explores interesting flavor profiles. Love it. Ambiance was great: nice dark academia feel to the place. I was there on a Saturday morning though, so it was super busy. I wouldn't want to sit and enjoy my cup there in that volume of foot traffic, but I'd love to sit and enjoy my cup there on other days of the week during the midday lull. Service was stellar as well. They misheard my order; only charged me for one of the two drinks I ordered. While standing there waiting for our second drink for probably 15 mins, they realized something had been missed. They made my drink for free once they realized what happened. This was totally a two-party error: I should've noticed my bill was about $7 shy of the full order and said something before paying, but I didn't notice. They took it upon themselves to make it right anyway. Very grateful for that level of service.

Yelp
Our orders were routine -- a house coffee, a hot chocolate, a chocolate croissant, and a slice of coffee bread -- so we can't comment on the specialty drinks that separate the wheat from the chaff. But what we ordered was good, as was the service. Rowan's row-house layout, however, makes ordering and picking up a bit of a cluster, and makes it hard to determine where the line begins. Nonetheless, we'd go back, chiefly bc of its convenient downtown location.

Yelp
Really good drink and the pastry we got was really good too. would go back ! I like that they have a monthly special drink- it adds excitement

Yelp
This is my number one coffee shop for Asheville North Carolina right now. It has held this spot for at least two years. They have everything from single origin pour overs to high-quality espresso drinks. They keep batch brew in the mornings for quality coffee that is fast. I love the English pub vibe and it is one of my favorite places to sit and read a book while drinking coffee. It's also a great place to meet people. It's probably better for small groups. The hot cocoa for kids is the perfect temperature and tastes amazing. They also have several options for non-coffee drinkers. Even if you are just driving through Asheville they have super easy access from I-240 so there is no excuse not to stop and try this amazing coffee!

Tyler D.

Yelp
Great flat white. Good service. I will say we came in with the kids and it's not the most family friendly environment. Best for no kiddos or singles imo.
google avatar

Aminah K.

Yelp
Loved the ambience. The decor and vibes were beautiful. We got one of their seasonal drinks - the taste was decent - I was really hoping to try the sweetie pie latte but that wasn't on their current menu.
google avatar

Safiyyah S.

Yelp
Good coffee and ambience! I'd return for sure, yummy flavors to the menu. Service was nice and friendly as well
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
1 of a kind! Their coffee is a bit more expensive but it's worth every Penny! Every month they do a special coffee (rose coffee, lavender and honey, and a hibiscus orange blend). They are meticulous about every step in creating these masterpieces and you'll enjoy every step. If you're hungry, don't sleep on the ham and cheese croissants from the Rhu. They are just as good as the ones I've eaten in Paris!
google avatar

Becca F.

Yelp
Ordered: hot vanilla latte $5.88 with tax Overpriced typical NY meet NC hipster/chic coffee shop. There's was way too much foam and this already too small for the price latte. Plus, they put a hot drink in a glass? I almost dropped it from the heat on the glass when I picked it up. It really wasn't anything special, the taste didn't blow me away, pretty average. I do really like the look of the inside though.
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
The best thing about this place is the decor / ambiance / vibe. Super well decorated, and very relaxed ~cool Asheville~ feel to it. Dimmly lit, but pretty busy and crowded on a Saturday morning. I'd imagine that during the week, this would be a great, quiet place to come and chill with a book, but it was pretty loud this morning. The coffee was average, I got an oat milk latte and got the ham + cheese focaccia to share with my partner. The focaccia was very average as well. For the higher prices, I'd say this was overall a very average tasting place. I'd come back, but will be more likely to check out other coffee shops around Asheville firsts
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
The barista was SUPER helpful with suggestions for my pour over. It was delicious, as was the coffee cake. I'll definitely be coming by again during my stay in Ashville and during future stays. The inside of the restaurant was clean, well maintained, and peaceful.
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
Rowan Coffee was incredible. I got the Sweetie Pie latte. This is hands-down one of the best coffee shops in Asheville. I came here with a group and the service was excellent. The ambience was next level. Almost felt like I was in a library. Highly recommend!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
An austere-looking space, this coffee shop has plenty to offer the casual drinker who wants to sit around for a while. For me, I wanted a chai to go, and theirs was a smallish cup with a wonderfully balanced flavor with just enough sweetness. They had some seasonal special beverages, but their food selection was quite limited, with a single type of pastry they had left not really catching my fancy. But for their main mission, they were able to produce a quality beverage in time-efficient fashion.
google avatar

Swetha S.

Yelp
A cute coffee shop that has outdone the decor and ambiance. Even the coffee mugs are unique as you can see in other review photos. We got a cortado and cappuccino to-go. Coffee was really good but was not hot enough. It was like warm at best. They had interesting food menu but we didn't get to try it as we had planned brunch elsewhere.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
Amazing drinks and ambiance. Friendly staff. Had the tonic specialty drink (basil, blood orange) which was really refreshing
google avatar

Ames C.

Yelp
Great ambience, with warm glowing lights that creates an intimate bar feel. Lots of seating available. Free water, with glasses so you may avoid plastic if you wish. Simple syrup available as an addition as well along with the usual cream/sugar/stevia.
google avatar

Eric G.

Yelp
The place looks cool and cozy. The pastries I had were great, but the coffee was just okay. Would I go back? Probably not in my honest opinion. I ordered a latte and cappuccino with the pastries. The coffee seemed to be lacking one more shot of expresso. But overall, give this place a go. Could've just been a weird day for the place as many seem to enjoy the coffee.
google avatar

Ida J.

Yelp
Our order: regular drip and sweetie pie latte (s'mores + sweet potato + pumpkin). Highly recommend the seasonal sweetie pie latte. Cute and delicious in one cup. The coffee is strong, the flavors are bold and the sweetness level is lower than you think. The s'more is freshly roasted, I ate it first thing instead of downing it in cup. My partner's regular drip was very acidic and may have been a light roast, which we're not huge fans of, but also our fault for not leaving room for cream / milk. Quiet atmosphere and good place to work, study and contemplate about life.

Emily S.

Yelp
The place is absolutely beautiful. Merchandise and equipment is also amazing and perfect. The pastries are great every single time. People are nice. My only complaint, which is pretty significant since it's a coffee shop, is that the beverages are always lacking. Espresso is a bit sour, matcha is weak, but it's not awful.
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Best coffee in Asheville hands down! If you prefer really great coffee and are looking for pour overs this is the place to go! Great origin selections and coffee variety. Not to mention a really beautiful inside seating.

Rachel K.

Yelp
super cute inside and the seasonal rose & mocha latte with strawberry milk smackssss, so good. nice area and good amount of seating. it's a chill vibe, i like it
google avatar

Scott D.

Yelp
I enjoyed the vibe of this place. The coffee was great as well. Found this place the last day but definitely would go back.
google avatar

Lexi M.

Yelp
Loved my Sunday morning experience here. I would describe the vibe as subtly smooth and earthy. The baristas were incredibly kind. I ordered a lavender macadamia nut milk cappuccino, and it did not disappoint. Also, to my surprise, the gluten free cheddar and chive scone was more shwae than it was dry. There's great seating and a good space to work.
google avatar

Ishita K.

Yelp
Best chai tea latte and great coffee! The staff is friendly, the pastries are tasty, cozy & cute place- what else you would want. We tried the quiche and the croissant, both were cooked well. Would love to try the danish and scone next time!! Glad we found this place!!

Caitlin L.

Yelp
Great place for a cup of coffee or tea on a rainy day. I went during a visit to Asheville a few months ago and loved the vibe.
google avatar

Kimberly A.

Yelp
SOOOO cute & friendly staff! We got to go drinks, but wish we would have stayed because it was adorable inside and the mugs/glasses were cute. I got a hot latte with oat milk and it was delicious and full of the good stuff- caffeine :)
google avatar

Liz H.

Yelp
Delicious coffee, friendly service. Scone was huge and delicious. Could drink the latte all day. They have an alternative milk like hazelnut milk. The prices were a little high for me but the experience was worth it. There is a paid parking lot right outside.
google avatar

Grace F.

Yelp
My partner and I came in on a busy Monday morning and the barista who took our order treated us with care and was very personable. The coffee was delicious and we left with big grins and happy hearts. Excellent service!
google avatar

Brooke D.

Yelp
This is a GREAT spot for coffee, pastry breakfast, & good conversations. The owners/baristas are very kind and helpful, the shop is busy, but not overcrowded feeling. The pastries are top notch & the coffee is even better. Highly recommend trying out this shop. Also, parking is pretty easy as there is a lot 1 building down from shop. It's $2 per hour parking.

Paul W.

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Service was efficient and quick. I enjoyed my cup of coffee and loved the wood interior
google avatar

Suria N.

Yelp
Very good coffee. I love the taste of the coffee here. Love the bitterness and boldness of the taste. While I was told that the chocolate and chai latte were good as well. Fast and friendly service.
google avatar

Indira A.

Yelp
We loved this quaint coffee shop--they really know what they are doing! I had the cortado with oat milk. No sweetener needed, just fresh Ethiopian beans and perfectly frothed milk to create beautiful latte art. If you're in Asheville, you really need to check them out!

Tia T.

Yelp
This is THE coffee shop to go to when you're in Asheville. I own a coffee roastery and shop so I can be hard to impress when it comes to checking out new coffee shops. I was very impressed with Rowan. Also, be sure to try one (or all) of their toasts. You'll be glad you did.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim on my way out of town . They were very busy but the workers were friendly and the line moved fairly quickly. I had a brown sugar latte and my husband had an iced mocha . Both were excellent - their espresso has a great flavor . Will definitely make this a stop next time I'm in Asheville!
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Delicious coffee cool ambiance. I'll be back when I'm in Asheville. Service was very personable.

Yelp
Best coffee an Aussie has had in America for a few weeks - latte ordered. Place had a lovely atmosphere

Yelp
Jiminey Crickets I am rowan coffee's new big man! enemies stay away because I would only recommend this place to an ally. I walked in and smelled grindingbeans and was bewitched by the handsome young gentlemen and the sword there, and even afterward my wife told me if I didn't stop talking about it I would be sleeping on the couch tonight! b,, Hey Siri Close Yelp And Call Janet

Yelp
This is the first place i went in asheville! Parking was easy since there is a public lot right next to it. This coffee shop really sets the tone on what to expect for the rest of the city. Coffee was good and prices were reasonable!

Johnny B.

Yelp
The ambience, friendliness and taste of the coffee and quiche were on point. Very nice and comfy. The 3 stars is due to absorbent refill price of $2 on drip, dine in, coffee! Most give first free or up to a $1 in the US. Europe usually does not give discounted refills but the initial cost is usually not over 2E. If going to charge $2 for refill then lower initial cup price(it was $3.50) price gauging and greed are never good. We all know the margin on coffee is already huge. 4-9-23 back in and exact same. love the space, ambience, friendliness( I think that's what made me come back) but a donut and drip coffee over $9 with tax and tip! wow

Aleaha W.

Yelp
Got an iced latte and it was amazing! Had to go back for another one the next day!!!!

Yelp
Excellent coffee and baked goods. Cool pre-war decor with lots of marble tables to sit and enjoy your beverage. Friendly and expert waitstaff.
