"There’s no place more quintessentially Connecticut than Rowayton Seafood, where you can enjoy a $36 lobster roll while watching Polo-clad locals descend from their boats onto the docks out front. You’re paying for the waterfront location as well as high-quality chunks of lobster, prepared either Connecticut style (hot with butter) or Maine style (cold with mayo). Skip the fries—they’re pale and under-seasoned—instead, opt for the crispy onion rings or homemade potato chips on the side. Other welcome additions to your meal would be anything from the raw bar or the parmesan roasted oysters, which might beat lobster mac in the unlikely competition of the best rendition of hot shellfish with cheese. Be sure to make a lunch reservation in advance if you want a table with a view, since this place gets packed, even on weekdays. We recommend either the front dining room or the covered outdoor patio overlooking the boat slips, though a few less scenic walk-in tables are available before noon or after 2:30. On your way out, stop by their adjacent market and grab some overpriced but aesthetically pleasing tinned fish as a souvenir. photo credit: Sam Schwab photo credit: Sam Schwab photo credit: Sam Schwab" - Chloe Zale

It's an informal, higher end food experience along the waterfront. The overall experience was very nice. The service was solid. The prices are pretty expensive. Shockingly at a seafood place, the steak was a standout. The roasted oysters were excellent. The tuna tartar was average - not particularly well seasoned on this night. The crudo was also well done.

Best atmosphere, food and vibes!! Perfect for a summer evening. Right on the water with gorgeous views. The shrimp cocktail, hamachi crudo, and ribbon carrots were our favorites. Everything was so great and beautiful!! The little market attached to the restaurant is also fantastic with lots of fresh seafood and cute little gifts.

Rowayton Seafood Restaurant offers a truly delightful dining experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, parking was a breeze with the attentive valet service awaiting us at the restaurant's entrance, providing a stress-free beginning to our lunch. With a reservation in hand (highly recommended due to the restaurant's popularity), we were promptly greeted by the ever-friendly and smiling hostess and escorted to our table on the second floor, boasting magnificent views of the waterfront. The culinary journey commenced with dishes that tantalized the taste buds, showcasing some of the finest seafood offerings in the area. Each bite was a testament to the kitchen's dedication to quality and flavor, leaving us thoroughly impressed. However, it wasn't just the cuisine that left a lasting impression; the staff's professionalism and efficiency added to the overall dining experience. Our server, Arsen, deserves special recognition for his impeccable service. His knowledge, attentiveness, and unwavering professionalism ensured that every aspect of our meal was nothing short of perfection. In summary, Rowayton Seafood Restaurant is a gem that deserves to be lauded with six stars if possible. It undoubtedly ranks among the top five dining destinations in the area, making it a must-visit for locals and travelers alike. Conveniently located off exit 12 on I-95 northbound, it's easily accessible for those passing through. I eagerly anticipate my next visit and wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience.

Google
Rowayton Seafood Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with a charming coastal atmosphere. The seafood is fresh and well-prepared, with the lobster roll and oysters being standout dishes. The waterfront location adds a special touch, making it perfect for a relaxing meal with friends or family. While the service was generally attentive, there were a few moments where it felt slightly slow, but nothing too disruptive. Overall, a great spot for seafood lovers, and I’ll definitely be back!

Google
The oyster boat is a lovely addition and we enjoyed our drinks and service, until the guy checking us in went yelling at us for having a 30 minute limit. Asked us to get up, so we did and moved to the bar - then we were approached by him telling us to leave, actually raising his voice at us “get out, get out, get out.” When waking off the deck, he asked for our last name and said , you’re banned from my boat. Quite the hothead. No worries. After 30 years coming to here, we’ll never be back.

Google
Seafood offers a special dining experience in an exclusive harborfront setting. The view of the boats and peaceful marina adds a unique charm. The oysters were outstanding—fresh and beautifully presented. Ideal for a scenic lunch or elegant dinner by the water. Excellent food, premium location, and a touch of New England coastal charm. A place we’d return to without hesitation.

Yelp
You like East Coast water vibes with solid food? If you do, Rowayton seafood is for you. This place is very solid...but the views and vibe are what you come for and exactly what summer ordered. Went with the steamers and local lobster rolls. A goto staple in the area and it draws from the locals as well. They have a store right next door so you can buy any fresh seafood you didn't get a chance to order. Brendon's 101 right down the street if you want homemade ice cream for dessert. Summer time vibe without the commute if you live in Fairfied County.

Yelp
The raw clam is must try, very fresh great price $2 each, save your trip to long island , this is much better. Mushrooms risotto taste so good, the risotto cooked just about right and it soaked in all mushrooms flavor $14 side dishes Fish and chips .... The fish batter is very thin, fish itself fresh and just perfect. Fries is good and love their coleslaw too. One of the best Clam chowder is also decent with a big clam in it. Came in here after lunch hour, there's self parking across street next to the pizza place very convenient. Clean bathroom and nice atmosphere, would definitely come back again to try more items on menu.

Yelp
First and foremost, I RARELY give any restaurant five stars. This restaurant earned their five stars; food, service, atmosphere all hit the mark! The food is absolutely delicious. I'm a seafood lover and I must say it's the BEST seafood restaurant I've ever been to. Everything I ate was very fresh and the kitchen definitely know what they're doing. Calamari was crispy on the outside and tender inside. It comes with buffalo sauce, lemon aioli and bamu sauce which is a spicy thin Asian sauce. Clam chowder was creamy, had the usual bacon, clams and celery and garnished with a clam on the shell; great touch if you ask me. The spicy tuna tartare was my favorite thing I ate. It came with papadum chips that were light and crispy (better than potato chips!). The tuna tartare had the right amount of spice that didn't overpower your tastebuds but it let you know you were eating fresh, delicious tuna. The cucumbers added a very refreshing touch to the dish and I loved the wasabi aioli! The hot lobster roll was perfect. Coleslaw was delicious. The steamers are always messy to eat but worth it! I had a mini seafood feast and I was super satisfied leaving the restaurant. I usually finish a good meal with dessert but I had no room. There's always a next visit for that! I didn't try my son's cheeseburger because I strictly wanted seafood but it was cooked medium just how we asked and he said it was delicious. My son is a picky eater so if he says it's good, it's good. Ambiance is very nice. There's indoor and outdoor seating. If you're a sun lover you'd love to be outdoors with the sun shining on you while you dine with a great view of the water and boats. Inside had nice nautical decor. They had a nice bar area with lots of drinks. Our server, MJ, was amazing. He was very attentive to all our needs. It was our first time eating here and we will return because of MJ and the amazing food. Our cups were always full and finished dishes cleared away. I appreciate servers like MJ because it elevates the dining experience. Great food can only get you so far but hard workers like MJ truly magnify a great experience. The restaurant was super packed. They have valet parking and I honestly thought we would wait forever but we didn't. We got in right away and our food promptly came out. MJ made sure we got the food in the order we wanted and we didn't feel rushed or ignored. Again, this is why I'm giving them five stars! If you love seafood, great service and a beautiful view, check them out.

Yelp
Rowayton Seafood has been added to my list of favorite spots for waterfront dining! The views were stunning and the food was equally as delicious. Their hot lobster roll is one of the best I've had, and the same goes for the roasted oysters. We ordered the clam chowder poutine because of how unique it was, and we're so glad we did because we fell in love! Stunning cocktails and presentations of dishes with exceptionally fresh seafood. All of the staff we encountered were very professional, and they even encouraged us to check out the fire pits and uncovered deck in the back for the best view. Loved the seafood market on the property as well. I can't wait to come back when the weather gets warmer to enjoy it Rowayton Seafood all over again!

Yelp
I really enjoy the ambiance of this place. It's a very nice restaurant on the water. Parking is a bit of a hassle, so plan ahead on this. They don't have self-parking other than on the street, but that's a hassle as you need to parallel park and there's cars coming through as you're trying to do this. I recommend doing valet parking instead. It's free, but please provide a gratuity to your valet. I recommend a $5 minimum on your way out. As for the restaurant itself, it's nice inside but it is a bit of a crowded space. The space is tight and the tables are a bit close to each other. Not so much so that it doesn't offer your party some privacy, but you are a little closer to folks here. I didn't find it to be bothersome myself. The service is nice. The servers are friendly and the service is prompt. As for the food, it is spot on! I had their signature rowayton seafood lobster roll m, and it was delicious! It is warm, buttery lobster sandwiched into a piece of bread that tastes like a buttery French toast of sorts. The combination works perfectly. The lobster is perfectly cooked and seasoned. They also offer a Maine lobster roll which is served cold, also delicious. It's just a matter of whether you prefer cold or warm lobster. Both are fantastic. They give good attention to their sides as well. I enjoyed the coleslaw and fries that came with my dish, and even the onion rings that I tried. The fries and rings were delicious and crispy while not being overly greasy. Along with entrees, there's also a vast selection of appetizers and drinks. My family ordered their "walk the plank" beverage, a concoction made up of jalapeño-infused corazon tequila, lime and pear. It was delicious and a nice portion for the price. My experience was great overall. It is a clean, fairly priced restaurant with delicious cuisine and a variety of options. I highly recommend these folks. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
You don't get much better than this. The menu has been updated and the swordfish on mushroom risotto w fried artichokes on top was spectacular. The salmon was grilled to perfection and was served over Vidalia onion , chanterelle mushrooms, watercress and white beans. Wow. Dave the waiter was so helpful. The view was serene with snow falling over the river. The crowd was casual with noise level low and relaxed. Very comfortable and everyone was having a great time.

Valerie S.

Yelp
Food is very mediocre, valet guy was rude and seemed like it was a problem for him to helped me and my parents.

Luke H.

Yelp
This is right on he marina channel in Norwalk and conveniently located next to a fish market where all their seafood is sourced. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available and the view of the channel and sunset is magical from anywhere in the venue. The manager and waitstaff were friendly and attentive, despite being very busy for the evening. I ordered the swordfish. It was grilled to perfection! The corn sauce that was paired with it added a sweet and creamy flavor to the fish. Highly recommend this spot if in the area!

Yelp
The entire staff is very accommodating . This restaurant is my favorite in Ct and I have lived here for over 30 years and dine out regularly. I love the food, the staff and when available the upstairs room. It's a very special restaurant and I look forward to celebrating many more special occasions here and dining out with friends!

William W.

Yelp
This is easily my favorite seafood restaurant in CT. My wife found this place when she was invited to lunch by her boss and after one lunch knew she had to take me there. We have gone here just about everytime we want to celebrate something because it is very pricey. This is the kind of restaurant that has the most beautiful atmosphere but usually lacks in food BUT they deliver on the food here. Everything we have tried has been delicious from the clam chowder or lobster bisque to the fresh fish and desert. My wife and I always start off with some fried calamari (she likes the buffalo version) or sometimes we go with the clam chowder. For entrees she always gets the Linguine with clams. The portion is large but flavorful. It has a delicious sauce with lots of clam, crispy pancetta and a nice kick from the red pepper flakes. My go to is ALWAYS the barramundi Milanese. This is my FAVORITE seafood dish I've ever had. Crispy white fish over a bed of fingerling potatoes, crisp green beans and the most delicious leek, lemon, caper cream sauce. It's so freaking good. Trust me. And usually they have a "Michele's Pie" option for desert. If you know, you know. Love this place. Service can be a little hit or miss but it gets busy so I don't take it personally

Nicholas H.

Yelp
To be upfront, we came here purely to get a lobster roll via takeaway. We ordered ahead and were only here long enough to run inside, grab food, and leave. The food was ready when it was supposed to be, which is a positive. The parking situation was a mess, I believe it is valet only because parking in the area is severely limited, and the shuffling of cars blocked up the street. Luckily I was able to drop my wife off, circle around, and pick her up. Now to the food. The bun was nicely toasted and buttery, but the lobster itself was tough. I was reminded of rock lobster, or of the lobster I would get on the submarine when I was in the Navy after we'd been underway for a couple few months. Certainly not the fresh, succulent lobster pieces I would have expected. The coleslaw was also very sweet, reminiscent of KFC slaw. 11th place of the 13 we tried in our lobster roll journey through CT this summer.

Veronica W.

Yelp
I had a take out. Foods were excellent especially the grilled octopus. But parking was a nightmare, I ended up parked in the village and walked over to pick.

Beth C.

Yelp
I've had some very good meals at Rowayton Seafood over the years, but during my most recent experience, I had steamers so sandy that I gave up eating them halfway through. I know that with steamers you have to be prepared to encounter a bit of sand potentially, but this was pretty egregious. They also seemed a bit tough, maybe overcooked. I do think RS is an iconic spot with a great locals scene, but maybe sometimes the food isn't as spot on as it should be. Still, I'd say it is absolutely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Ilyssa M.

Yelp
This place is amazing anytime of day! We had a great lunch today with Jesse as our server and bartender . The food is always a 10/10 and the service is beyond welcoming and accommodating. We will be back as always! Thanks Jesse and staff!

Heather W.

Yelp
Wow, this place is terrible. Very aggressive valet, who didn't even wait for me to fully exit the car to move the car 5 feet to the right. Drinks took forever. I had the lychee-plum wine-rose cocktail, which was oddly bitter. The purple gin drink was very sweet. Gorgeous restaurant view, though! They forgot to bring us raw oysters, then it took ages to bring out the roasted/broiled ones and soup. Server was hardly available when needed. Bisque was ok and salty. Crackers are the Sysco ones, which were already stale. The first bag she gave me crumbled everywhere since it had a hole in it. Coffee is absolutely undrinkable and tasted horrifically old despite the server saying she just made it. I'm really disappointed in what seemed to be a lovely waterfront restaurant. Was scared to order anything else after this fiasco described above.

Jackie B.

Yelp
Went for lunch today, was able to get a spot on the outdoor patio. We were the last available table at 11:55 on a Tuesday. Our server Chris was great. Tuna tartar appetizer was amazing! I also had the crispy fish tacos. Great water views! Bring a sweater it was still cool in the shade.

Nathan T.

Yelp
Beautiful venue, pleasant indoor and outdoor seating. We had a great wait staff on a busy Saturday night. Staff was personable and attentive even with so many people in the restaurant. Food was good; best items were the Yellowfin Tuna and Roasted Oysters. Great menu overall and plenty of drink/wine selections.

John I.

Yelp
Another great lobster and all around great meal and all around great spot...Good job guys!

Anthony S.

Yelp
Lobster rolls and oysters were outta this world good. I absolutely cannot wait to go back!

Jacob H.

Yelp
Slide in here 3 times while I was around, all the staff was fun and welcoming. By the time I left town I was in know with what to order and where to go... armed with recommendations and a name to drop it felt like I had lived in town my whole life- Food was incredibly fresh and made this Cajun boys mouth water. If you're looking for a great spot on the water- Don't miss it- Family owned and operated -Geaux feel the love!

Amy H.

Yelp
Haven't been here in quite a while, so we weren't sure what to expect. Making reservations isn't the easiest as you have to go on to their own site- and availability is like non-existent. We started with soup: Clam chowder and lobster bisque. Very good and then shared a Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail. The salad is bis enough for 3- so be warned. I got the scallop linguini special- it was tasty and the tomatoes were very good. We also had the lobster ravioli- very filling and with nice generous chunks of lobster. Ended with vanilla ice cream and 7 layer chocolate cake. Good service. They definitely work to flip the tables but we didn't feel rushed like at Sails. It was pricier but worth it. Great place to meet with friends, date night or with other couples.

Nicole A.

Yelp
I had high high hopes for this place. I'm truly disappointed. The 2 stars are for the servers and and hostess for being friendly and attentive. The food was greasy, awful, mostly tastes frozen, with no flavor. In addition, I had awful heartburn the most of the late afternoon. I'm not really sure if this was a fluke but The calamari tasted like rubber band-ish Kids' chic n fries was frozen and the grilled cheese was soaked and soppy with butter I'm so disappointed The fish and chips with so greasy but prob the most tastiest I don't understand the popularity. I mean I do, the people are friendly and the views are amazing so maybes that's the draw.

Trixie G.

Yelp
Hi went to this restaurant last night. Good food and good service. Fine/casual dining. The food and presentation was excellent. The owner was a little different. He was pacing back and forth. A little unsettling. Maybe, walk around and ask the guest are you enjoying your meal. I don't know maybe it was just me. I would go back again because the food was wonderful. Here are some pictures of our dishes. The dessert and drinks were so good I forgot pictures of those. I say go check it out and report back on Yelp. Enjoy!!!

Robyn N.

Yelp
We travel 45 minutes one way from Ossining, NY to dine at Rowayton Seafood. Every part of the experience is outstanding. From the moment you arrive, it's a vacation like vibe.. Valet parking to make it easy, Lily, at the front door with a warm smile and personable greeting always, fantastic waitstaff and the cuisine hits it out of the park every time. The oysters were incredible, salads farm fresh, I love the barramundi and my husband had the swordfish. Fish is elevated to extraordinary heights here folks! Dessert pies are amazing beyond measure. It's always a stellar night, and why we travel a distance to be with them. The love is evident in all that they do and why it remains our favorite dining experience.

Matt S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite waterfront seafood restaurants in CT. The food is spectacular and it has a marina view to match. There's both indoor and outdoor seating and I highly recommend making a reservation since this place can get very busy on the weekends. We ordered the Minor Platter appetizer (shrimp, calms, and oysters) for the table and a couple bottles of the Pinot Grigio. I had the Rowayton Lobster Roll with the truffle fries which was simply amazing and I highly recommend it. The roll is buttery warm and it's overflowing with lobster . You can choose an included side of chips, salad, or fries and I went with the truffle fries which I also recommend. It also comes with a very tiny portion of coleslaw. The service is always friendly and I'm never disappointed with the dining experience. Bon appétit!

Michael H.

Yelp
What a nice restaurant in so many different ways. Beautiful location, excellent food very friendly wait staff. Not inexpensive, however. I would review the restaurant somewhere between four and five but since that's not permissible I'm going to give it a five!

John W.

Yelp
The lobster rolls were very good. However, they will never be as good as lobster that never spends time in a large lobster tank before being served. I have never had a disappointing meal at that restaurant. Always worth the ride from Westchester.

Jack K.

Yelp
just few more words. The restaurant boasts a fine print of Ernest Hemingway fishing probably in Cuba. Which leads me to probably my ONLY criticism -- marlin and shark should be on the menu so people can experience what the author of Old Man and the Sea ate when he was alive and fishing off the Cuban coast. All I think about when I sit at that table near or under that fine print is old Santiago of the sea whose gigantic Marlin -- which he caught by hand! -- was eaten bit by bit by sharks until all he had left was a skeleton. It was incredibly unfair. But I won't go into that. Usually I order one of the many fine drinks this establishment offers to take my mind off things and relax! Especially when the staff isn't overly warm. Hey we all have bad days. Thank you for a very special place and hopefully Marlin will be on the menu soon. Is it hard to catch? Or to prepare? And what about shark. Some notes on the menu would be helpful. Thank you rowayton seafood for what you do.

Joseph P.

Yelp
Great service from the valet, bartender ,hostess & our server. Being a Manhattan restaurateur I'm very critical of the restaurant experience especially in the counties where even a good restaurant is rare. Rowayton Seafood is a rare gem outside of NYC with a totally professional operation. Go here and enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

David M.

Yelp
I've been going here for years and years. Last week took some of the bloom off the rose. Excellent service, plates delivered and cleared and water refilled. Noisy and cramped room but a good vibe, until... the food arrived. I was served the blandest of the bland piece of fresh fish that tasted for all the world like it'd been frozen. Or frozen badly, or something... So... while I want to give this successful and long lasting place a 5, I can only muster 3. The food, the food ... the food is a pretty big part of a restaurant experience and someone here has taken their eye off the ball. I'll try it again after I save my pennies....

Lisa G.

Yelp
What a fabulous lunch with an amazing view! Lobster roll was delicious!! Will definitely return again.

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
I know why this was voted one of the best seafood restaurants in Connecticut! My only lower score (3-star) was due to the noise level or maybe my aging ears. A younger version of myself might consider this an indication that diners were satisfied and happy. We also had a delightfully attentive waiter! Of course, I can't forget to mention the Hydro setting and the care taken to adjust the flight schedule of the appropriate props (swans). Although I couldn't hear most of my group's conversation (maybe that's best), my overall experience was lovely.

Savannah T.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! The salmon was cooked to perfection and the goat cheese cous cous paired perfectly with it. The clam chowder poutine is worth every bite, I might come back just for that. For a restaurant on the water the food is incredible. Will be back soon!

Blake C.

Yelp
Excellent food service and views. The entrees were delicious and plenty of options to choose from.

Peter H.

Yelp
I. Went to this nice restaurant to enjoy dinner and drinks and had to listen to the bartender with long hair and a bun voice his opinions the we need a better sharp shooter to another worker and laugh. I find this disgraceful what happened to President Trump is a tragedy and would never want to see this happen to President Biden. This is a national tragedy and pray for all involved. Keep it classy and respectful .

Peter R.

Yelp
We absolutely love this seafood restaurant. Sitting outside is always preferred. Everything from fresh oysters to lobsta rolls. Oh yes Lobsta and more. Friendly servers make the experience a winner every time.

Shelley G.

Yelp
Not necessarily a destination...tho it seemed like one to me based on clientelle. Service was good. Lovely setting. Food portions adequate but not generous. Quality variable. Prices a bit high Clam chowder very good Caesar salad pretty good Mahimahi sandwich generous size but fish was dry Crab cakes...all bread, hardly any crab, and tiny

Nancy S.

Yelp
Everything was great, Food, service, river views, resident swans. Deserves designation of best seafood restaurant in CT.

Juliet B.

Yelp
I love Rowayton seafood. The seafood is the freshest there is at a restaurant. The service is great and the prices are fair. They have an excellent bartender making perfect cocktails plus a great wine by the glass selection. I have been coming here a few years now. Everything consistent. Hence, my 5 stars. Plus good people watching. Bring your boat and avoid the traffic on 95.

Tracy K.

Yelp
Awesome lobster and oysters. Great view. Really enjoyed our dinner. They also have a market to take out oysters.

Johnson C.

Yelp
A favorite for decades, going back to when we lived in walking distance. Consistently great service, food, and ambiance. We're a bit farther away now, but try to get there a few times a year.

Anthony L.

Yelp
Food is always outstanding, the atmosphere is great the view is amazing! Service is always excellent. Recommend all the time.

Sue C.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday. We had a reservation and were sat promptly. The service was great and the food was delicious!!

Tara K.

Yelp
This is now my favorite seafood place in ct! For many reasons, 1. The service is amazing v, they are nice but also very mindful and they seem to enjoy working there a lot which I love, 2. The food is amazing! The oysters were amazing and the white wine mussels are so good! They have a great garlic and parsley mix that makes you eat your weight in bread! 3. The view, my goodness it is just a place you want to stay in for a long time after you have finished your food!

Susan C.

Yelp
Great lobster roll in a lively water side setting. Parking can be difficult, make sure to valet. It appears that reservations are a must.

M B.

Yelp
Always an amazing culinary experience and just the right vibe. Amazingly accommodating and attentive staff. Love the shared farm table'! Thank you for another great night!

Cherie F.

Yelp
we looked forward to an amazing seafood meal and found a very disappointing quality of fish and skill from the kitchen. Please consider this review before venturing out. To end in a positive their raw bar was ok not great but ok.

Kari B.

Yelp
Ok yup- this place has been on my to-do list for a while and it met my expectations. Delicious! We went wild and tried everything- oysters, crispy rice with tuna tartar, salmon tartar, lobster rolls and shrimp tacos. We ate every bite nice wine list as well, and cocktails. Cannot wait to return- our waiter Arden was also super informative and friendly and added to our experience.

Lauren P.

Yelp
The food, service and ambience are all great. Make a reservation or expect a long wait for a table but it's worth the wait and you can always grab a drink at the bar
