We did a private guided kayak tour with Morgan this weekend and it was amazing! Morgan was an awesome guide- knowledgeable, friendly! It was the best way to see the river and Barton springs as a visitor and super well organized. I would definitely recommend.

Google
This place was really easy to find. Just beware of lack of parking during the summer. When you walk up, you sign a waiver and the friendly staff will take ID and card- very simple process to get the rental. Affordable experience for $25 an hour, definitely will be back!

Rachel Nardone

Google
Highly recommend this tour - our group had so much fun! The scenery was so beautiful and I loved that there were multiple rope swings to stop at on the way to swimming at the springs. We had Morgan as our tour guide and she was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. If you can definitely book with her!

I ended up here when my original destination had no parking! What a joyful error! Since I was early, I was able to find a spot to fit my RV. Although my age makes me less than nimble, they assisted me in and out of the kayak, which was sturdy and in good repair. You can purchase bags for items like cellphones. They do have signs warning you not to leave valuables in vehicles. They also have small necessities like sunscreen and water for sale. There are a couple of picnic tables available as well. You will see turtles, cranes, and other aquatic life as you paddle. I only took a basic kayak at $20 for an hour but there are other kayak types and stand up paddle boards.

I come here whenever I have a Friday morning to myself. Paddleboarding at Lady Bird Lake through Rowing Dock is lovely. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the rates are fair. This is a great place to spend time at if you want to be out in nature and immerse yourself in the city of Austin!

Khiem Nguyen

Google
Easy rentals. Very transparent pricing that you can find online. Regularly updates their web page so you know their hours. Just a very convenient service all around. A bit far from the city so you'd need to rent for two hours to get a good view and make it back in time.

We had so much fun kayaking in the lake. It was a very hot day, though it was not too hot on the water. My ten year old even enjoyed this. One hour was 25 for a double kayak. They provided life jackets. You can also rent a dry bag for your belongings. They let you take water with you also. We really enjoyed being out on the water. This is a great experience for all.

My daughter and I arrived for 1 hr kayaking in a double kayak. There was no line to wait. The process was smooth and seamless. Our kayak was ready and made stable for us to board by the beyond helpful employees. They were kind, efficient, and safe. We kayaked towards downtown for 30min and kayaked back, with enough time to just float. I 💯 will be returning soon.

Yelp
Riley - Awesome tour guide!! I'm 67 years old and do not know how to swim. he was very patient with me and professional. I was with my 5 daughters and we all enjoyed his tour! Would love to attend this dock again and have him as my guide Thanks Riley Sandra and her crew from Louisiana!!!

Coburn P.

Yelp
rented 2 paddle boards for an hour and a half. you are better off buying a paddle board outright with the rates they charge. would not go back.

Ericka T.

Yelp
Riley was an AWESOME tour guide. I was a first timer along with everyone (6) of us and oh my he made it such a great experience!!!! I can't say enough about how great the experience was!!! Riley keep being awesome!!

K

Yelp
Riley was our tour guide and he was absolutely AMAZING! SO SO informative and you can tell he absolutely loves his job. He helped my whole crew in and out of the kayak and was so patient with the beginners we had. Thank you Riley!! Keep being awesome!!

Raven R.

Yelp
BEST KAYAK EXPERIENCE!!! This place is wonderful for renting kayaks for fun or even taking your own out on the water. My father and I went out on the water with our own kayak and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Their website also has all the information you would ever need for kayaking/paddle boarding. (Their merchandise is also super cute, I bought three shirts!)

Sana A.

Yelp
Favorite place to Kayak in Austin! Lines are never too long, staff is super friendly and it's a really fun experience just make sure to apply tons of sunscreen and try to go at a time where the sun isn't at its peak. Parking can be a little tricky but not impossible, just might have to walk a a little bit. They do student discounts on Wednesdays! They have a variety of rental options including single person kayak, double kayak and a 2-3 person canoe as well as SUP.

Yelp
Rowing Dock in Austin is the perfect spot for an amazing kayak rental experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, providing all the necessary equipment and safety instructions. Located on Lady Bird Lake, the picturesque views of the Austin skyline and nature are breathtaking. The kayaks are well-maintained and diverse, catering to all skill levels. The rates are reasonable, and you can choose hourly or full-day rentals. Paddling along the serene lake surrounded by beautiful scenery was a truly rejuvenating experience. Don't miss the opportunity to explore Lady Bird Lake with a kayak rental from Rowing Dock. It's an unforgettable adventure on the water.

Courtney B.

Yelp
Was given the opportunity to try out this place for kayak rental. They partnered with local organizations to give back to families in the community for a day on the water. I took my plus one and son along for the day and we had a great time. They are further down along lady bird lake but it's easy to get there and adequate parking. All the equipment seemed in good/new condition and I liked that there was less water traffic to easily get on and off the lake. Staff was all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

David W.

Yelp
We got kayaks for an hour and a half, and paddled along the bank up to an old bridge. Lots of shallow rocks in that area. We saw wood ducks and other wildlife. This is a great area to kayak. Had a great time

Xiao Z.

Yelp
Super dope crew! My friend is visiting from LA, it's actually her second time visiting here and we planned to go on paddle boarding last year but by the time we got to the dock it's closed. This time we hit the spot just after 7pm. They stopped renting out after 7pm, but I asked them to do me this huge favor and promised to return the SUP before 8pm. And the crew finally allowed us in, they were just so nice of course, I do strongly suggest every customer should follow their rules!

Autumn M.

Yelp
Great location on the water! You can head east toward the city or to the west and see some great houses on the hills. Everyone is always super friendly and they have events too like yoga on the dock. It's a tad more costly than another place on the water but you can't beat the staff and location!

Matthew H.

Yelp
Great day in the river! Just a rowing down the river! Be sure to plan for a little work to row towards the city. The views are definitely worth the extra work to get there.

David R.

Yelp
While visiting Austin, we were looking for a place to rent Kayak's and found this place nearby. No reservations are needed and we were able to just walk up Friday evening and were able to get two double kayak's and one single within a matter of minutes. This place is convenient, fast, and affordable. You can either opt for 1hr, 2hr, or all day, though you can start with 1hr and if you end up wanting it longer, you just pay for that at the end. They have a large selection of kayak's and customer service was great.

Jeremy D.

Yelp
This place was pretty good! I have paddled with another company before, but I actually really enjoyed my time here at Rowing Dock. Pros: They have a little bit of everything for everyone. You can paddle board, peddle boat (yes, you read that right! You can peddle with your legs and move around with a dial), kayak, and even canoe! There's a lot of space on the lake to go around and the staff is really helpful with everything! Cons: Parking. If you go on a busy day, this place is literally so packed. We were lucky to find a space close enough to the dock. Also, a lot of people go here, so that means a long line. I've been to another company and they had basically no one at theirs (same views, same cold lake, etc). The lake did have a lot of space, BUT you definitely have to maneuver to make sure you don't hit anyone. Overall, I would comeback again, but maybe on a day not so busy.

J M.

Yelp
Alex and Leo did an amazing job guiding us and sharing facts about the area and the bats. We would definitely recommend them as safety was definitely a concern for them as well as the entire group kudos to Alex and Leo.

Shradha A.

Yelp
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and good condition kayak, convenient parking and cubbies - big fan!

Bita S.

Yelp
Nice location to rent kayaks with no hassles. We enjoyed the view and beautiful nature

Scott B.

Yelp
easy location. good selection. This has been my goto Kayak rental spot.

Brittney C.

Yelp
What a fun time! Staff is friendly and makes you feel safe. Easy access and pet friendly! Parking is easy - if the lot is full you can park on the side up the road, the walk is like 1 or 2 minutes. I would suggest paying for all day so you're relaxing and not on a time schedule if that's what you're looking for. Can't wait to return!

Ali W.

Yelp
This was my first time kayaking in Austin and Rowing Dock made it an incredible experience. Check in was a breeze on a Sunday morning around 11am. The employees were extremely helpful getting us in our kayaks and providing instructions to the kids and newbies I was with! You can pay by the hour or for the whole day. If you sign up for an hour and end up out there for 2, they'll simply just charge you for 2 hours when you check out - no worries! They also have a gravel parking lot that we were able to snag a spot in which was fantastic. Thanks Rowing Dock!

Stephanie W.

Yelp
My kids and I wanted to Kayak on a chilly day and this place was the only one open! They were quick to get us out on the water, and very friendly. Prices were very reasonable (and I think less than the other places). We would definitely return here.

David B.

Yelp
We had a blast kayaking at the Rowing Dock. My suggestion is that you sit in the kayak on the dock before you take off. I had a Wilderness Systems kayak, but my girlfriend was given a sit upon kayak that didn't adjust well to her legs. Take an extra minute to make sure the boat is a good fit for you. We kayaked to the left, because we were interested in seeing more naturally scenic views. We were not disappointed, as we saw 30 turtles, a Great Egret, Osprey, Blue Heron, Kingfisher, Blue Jays, and many other shore birds. We kayaked all the way down to the dog park, and there was lots to explore. We rented a dry bag, but you can save a few dollars if you bring your own.

Carolina T.

Yelp
An amazing way to view the Austin city line while getting some exercise. Pricing is fair with a deal when you go over 2 hours. Nice merchandise that's also priced fairly. Excited for my next visit already.

Katie B.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to be gifted a 10-visit card to RD and I'm definitely a huge fan. It's not as easy to get to as the dock off Trinity (no affiliation), but I now see that the one off Trinity is a cattle call in comparison to the experience you get at RD. No matter how busy it is, they'll make sure you get a paddle that is fit to your height (vs just picking one at random from an unorganized stack of 'em). They always have some sort of treat out (whether it be a protein bar or the last time I was there, someone was handing out grapes just because). Everything just feels a lot more welcoming at Rowing Dock. (Note: I've only ever rented paddle boards.) Because of its location more west down Lady Bird Lake, it's less crowded on the water. Also, the sweet spot is going between 7:30-9am, if your schedule allows, as the water is so serene and you basically have it all to yourself, sans a couple of early morning rowers. They do have a dedicated parking area...it's not huge, but it's something and there's more parking down the road if you can't find a spot in their dirt lot.

Frank R.

Yelp
Good peeps, nice kayaks, glad to have the bins for shoes but it would be nice to have a place to change clothes and I don't mean the Porta potties nearby. Parking is tough, get there early. Overall great place to get you out on lady bird lake

Leo And Cristina S.

Yelp
Had an amazing time on my pedal Kayak! Jenna at the front desk was awesome and super helpful. The whole process was super smooth, love that you can rent a dry bag too. Great time and would recommend!

Sarah W.

Yelp
Great place to go in but my car passenger side was busted and things in my car were stolen. The place said break ins happen daily and there is not much that can be done. At least have out signs that break ins happen daily. Seems like if you as a company know this is happening at least make people aware.

Ardaisa J.

Yelp
Everyone was wonderful. Our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable about all of our questions.

Simon B.

Yelp
had a fantastic day traveling from the uk visiting relatives in Texas for reunion. staff very helpful and professional really enjoyed our time on the water many thanks Burgess family Cambridgeshire England

Ash M.

Yelp
Workers where nice specially the ones that send you off to go canoeing!! Went for the first time this Sunday and it was such a great experience will definitely recommend and will come back again

Emma A.

Yelp
I came to the Rowing Dock with a 14 person group for paddleboarding and it was so much fun! The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating to our large group. The location is fantastic - perfect distance if you want to end up with a view of downtown and/or make it to Barton Springs. 10/10 recommend whether you're an Austin local, visiting, or just want a way to escape the summer heat!

Bret B.

Yelp
The girls said they were bored and I said how about canoeing? They had a blast. Plenty of sunshine and selfies. Great day on the water. Easy in and easy out. Fair deal Nd no hassles. $35 for two person kayak and one SUP for one hour. ‍

Amy A.

Yelp
Came to celebrate my daughters 13th Birthday on the river. The kayaking experience was great but DO NOT park on the street west of the parking lot entrance. We were there for 2 hours and our backseat window was busted open and a backpack was stolen. We had even covered the backpack with a blanket and had a 5 gallon water bottle over it. Credit cards were tried to be used at a Walmart for $204. Very suspicious that another review also said the same thing their card was used at a Walmart. If we do go again and can not find parking in Rowing Docks parking lot we will not go back I do not trust the street parking anymore. What was supposed to be a great outing for a birthday turned into a mess. Stolen items and broken window that we can not get replaced until in a couple of days, so driving back home for 3 hours with a taped window was not fun.

Joshua B.

Yelp
Molly at Rowing Dock was fantastic! She smoothly handled our large paddleboard and kayak rental, was super friendly and answered all our questions. She even humored us when we asked if she would take a group photo for us. She's a professional! Highly recommend her for an efficient and friendly service. Five stars for sure!

Diana V.

Yelp
Exactly what you'd want. I went on a Wednesday and it wasn't crowded. Very pleasant staff, well stocked, and even cute t shirts. A must try experience in Austin Texas!

Ariel B.

Yelp
We came here as a group of 4 on a saturday and the line was very long but only took about 30 minutes to get to the dock. 3 of us rented paddle boards and 1 rented a kayak. We had an absolute blast paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake. It's my favorite thing that we have done in Austin so far. It's so fun and seeing the city from here is so beautiful! We stopped at the sand bar for a bit before heading back and that was a fun break. If you're visiting Austin, you have to see the city from paddle boarding or kayaking on Lady Bird Lake! It adds up quickly to rent from here and time flys by so fast on the water. I'm not sure if there is a cheaper place to rent but I still recommend here as it was convenient and fast to rent!

LeeAnn I.

Yelp
Arrived around 10am in a Saturday morning and got worried since we had to park in the open field under the highway about 1/2 mile away (totally okay) and there were at least 50 people in line before us BUT the line moved quickly and we were in kayaks on the water in only about 30 minutes. If you are going to Austin to kayak check them out. Don't forget water and sunscreen because if you buy it onsite you'll pay more than you'd like to.

Marie B.

Yelp
Fair prices (just around $20 for an hour), clean & well-kept equipment, helpful & enthusiastic staff, great location... and DOG FRIENDLY! Such a fun outdoor activity and an excellent place for it... Situated in a cozy nook at the heart of the lake, around the corner from the beautiful parks, and close to some delicious eateries (lots of Food Trucks within 10min!). Just all-around awesome! Can't wait to come back!!!

Lisa N.

Yelp
We had a great experience with Rowing Dock! We got a quick reservation (pre-register during Austin City Limits weekends). We were able to get a tandem kayak with no problem. Not a very streamlined kayak but who cares! The staff were awesome. They had great advice on where to paddle as we aren't from the area. Super helpful from the time we walked up to the time we turned in our paddles and drove out of their lot!! They seem to have the right people working for them because everything was flawless. We plan on spending more time in the Austin area and will definitely be going back to rent from them again. As a matter of fact, we recommended them to a couple who were on the shore and asked where to rent from! I know they went because we saw them paddling!!!! Well done guys! Keep up the good work. Pricing was reasonable too!

Raye B.

Yelp
Our guide Cyrus was AMAZING! So much fun and informative. We will be definitely be us him again.

Marco R.

Yelp
Thank you for a wonderful experience on Lady Bird Lake. The staff Dave, Cyrus, and Taylor were professional and courteous. Their help with my 21 students and two chaperones was amazing. As a novice kayaker, their support for me was crucial in allowing me to create a memorable experience.

Anthony T.

Yelp
The rowing dock was awesome but get there early to be able to park in their parking lot! I DO NOT recommend parking in the street at all. DO NOT leave any valuables in your car. Our window was broken out and my purse was stolen. They had already spent 700 at Walmart before I could cancel the card. A very frustrating way to end a great day with our family!

JR L.

Yelp
I've gone to Rowing Dock plenty of times since I moved to Austin a few years ago and it's always been a great and personable experience. The people that work there are amicable, kind, and knowledgeable about anything and everything about the services they offer. So far I've done SUP, single, and double kayak and I hope to bring out my doge for another go around! Anyways - most recently myself and my buddy came to support their safe and secure staggered re-opening during the ShinerBockVirus on Sunday 3 May. It was simple and straight forward and everything they posted online to reserve a spot was easy to follow the days prior. We paid online and completed our waiver and emailed it (with an immediate response!). We arrived that Sunday 10 minutes prior to our 11AM send off and the staff were attentive and helpful (as they've always been). The dock was organized and we got out in the water lickity-split. We enjoyed the water for an hour, as required by the safety precautions and were handled easy enough when we docked. A great event as always and we'll be supporting every weekend we can until we open up finally! Lastly, they are very active on social media. I've been featured on their IG all the moments I've posted a story and/or posted photos. And they respond in no time flat. Great social media presence IMO Tips - You can park on the main road, on the shoulder. Just be safe!!! - There's a snow-cone place that is still open! whooooooop~ - Follow the river like a street, i.e. paddle on the right side - Paddle against the current as far as you can first, then let the current bring you back to the dock - it's a wonderful feeling

Kelsey R.

Yelp
Going here was a blast! They got us set up and on the water fast. All the workers were very friendly. Parking isn't too bad and unless you were under the highway it was so nice and peaceful.

Lori H.

Yelp
We read many positive reviews and took the plunge! We arrived no later than 10:30am, no wait to complete our waiver forms and get to the dock and launch into the lake. I highly suggest all day rental (not available for all equipment) and a water bag. It was a better deal so you could have a leisure day on the lake without feeling rushed. The staff were friendly and helpful and seemed very organized. We returned 3 hours later the line had formed. Thank you to all who recommended on arriving early!

Gizelle F.

Yelp
We had a blast using the 2-person kayak from Rowing Dock. Easy parking, we got the 15$ groupon and we were off and running. The staff even gave us the 2 person kayak instead and honored the groupon. Check in and check out was very quick and efficient. Our kayaks were clean and worked well, our life jackets were a bit musty but they were fine. You can ride east towards the city, or you can go west towards the nice houses. We chose to ride east and got a wonderful view of the skyline. Towards the end there are a couple of bridges where you can see turtles! Two hours was plenty of time, we were gone for about 75 minutes and definitely took our time. Bring sunblock and water. Bring something waterproof for your valuables, or they rent out little bags for 2$ each. A must-do in Austin on a sunny day!

Claudia M.

Yelp
Our guide took us down the lake and knew so much about the fowl and and fauna in the area. He even shared some local news while guiding us to different locations along the lake. It was a fun time and he was helpful with improving our skill.

Caleb S.

Yelp
We rented our kayaks quickly and easily. No hassles. the river was great. Not sure what else to write...

Joanna S.

Yelp
We did I kayaking tour. David was our guide. We had a great time. We did the 11 am. Which was a good time. We returned close to 2 and the place was packed and the line was long. We recommend!!

Jan C.

Yelp
Arrived a bit after 8 am on a to be a scorcher Saturday, stopped at the portas (not great but better than the bushes), easy quick release signed. Waited in line 5 minutes then after paying we were in our kayak for two in literally 2 minutes. They steadied it while we got in and again on our return. Drinks for sale and dry bags for rent if you forgot yours and free Kind bars for sustenance. Everyone very pleasant and couteous. No groupon currently. There's a price max after that initial 1 hour charge that you'll eventually reach if you paddle long enough. Kayak was roomy and in good shape.
