Rox Diner

Today was my worst experience ever here. My home fries arrived significantly overcooked and severely burnt. Very difficult to eat and unfortunately detracted from the enjoyment of an otherwise well prepared breakfast plate. What made it worse the server acknowledged the concern, but there wasn't an offer to replace the home fries. The kitchen staff should pay closer attention to the cooking of home fries in the future, as they are a staple breakfast item for many diners.

For ax sour dough bread hard to bite into. Corned beef hash overcooked, dry and some of it need a sharp steak knife. Home fries very dry, deep fried, overcooked. Don’t plan to go back.

This is a solid no frills diner in the center of West Roxbury. The prices and fine and the variety of breakfast meals is also fine. Unlimited coffee. The Rox is part of our regular morning weekly stop.

The Kids wanted Pancakes and we Stumbled on to Rox Diner who served them some of the 😋Best Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes 🥞😋they ever had with a side of warm Nutella and Real Maple Syrup. 😋 The Home fries were Very Tasty 😋 They also serve a Great Hot Cup Of Coffee ☕. The Kids enjoyed their Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice . Our Waitress was Awesome and Service was Great. I Highly Recommend Rox Diner! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent eggs Benedict. Also amazing chocolate banana mascarpone pancakes. Staff is super nice and attentive.

This is honestly one of my favorite diner spots ,the hashbrowns are top notch. They’re some of the best I’ve had around, and the omelettes and breakfast wraps are pretty tasty too.

Waitress was an absolute sweetheart and took great care of me. Portions were huge - twice as much as I could eat. Corned beef hash was amazing! Definitely recommend that one. They had gluten free toast and good allergen awareness (cooked my food on the gluten free portion of the grill.) I’ll absolutely be coming back ❤️

Awful quality food. Ordered a western style sandwich and immediately I could tell it was made with liquid eggs which I did not expect for a sandwich, but fine. I opened the upsidedown bagel to reassemble the stuff that looked like it was thrown in, and surprise! there were like 3 little cubes of ham 😐 I'm sorry- I thought this was a WESTERN (ham, peppers, and onion). The waitress brought over more ham, but I honestly didn't even touch it because again, it looks like it was thrown on the plate with disdain. Maybe the cook was having a bad day, but the food quality is a hard no for me. Our waitress was cool though, made the experience a little better with her friendliness.

Always great food at Rox. Dining experience is unchanged. Casual, family friendly, accommodating. Can't wait for the Newton location to open

Absolutely dynamite food. Really top notch. Very clean and well spaced. But the service was impeccable. Absolutely the best service we have received in a long time. Thank so much to the staff. Especially Rebecca, she a breath of fresh air.

Great diner although it can get busy! Prices are good and the staff was friendly. Items we ordered (as of 8/2022) - The Big Rig - $14 - Pancakes were phenomenal with just the right amount of sweetness. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside! Eggs were cooked to order perfectly as well. Great value for the price. - Grilled Reuben - $12 - Darn tasty. Corned beef was delicious and the size was great for the price. Got the cole slaw as the side which was okay but nothing special. I'd get fries next time. Overall for the price you pay this is a great location for a fantastic brunch.

My wife and I have been going to Rox for years and it always serves delicious food in a friendly chill neighborhood environment. The servers are all great, upbeat, attentive and fast. The Rox got us through the years of pandemic when the kids were back home and we tried to get them through it as well. I don't know what to recommend because everything is excellent and they will gladly make modifications based on your preferences.

Always a great place to grab brunch takeout from on the weekend. Our kids love the pancakes and the grownups are big fans of their salads, which are huge and very fresh!

Very large menu and the food was amazing, Rebecca was a lot of fun, she was either the owner or the manager but never the less the service was fantastic, will definitely be back :)

I had a wonderful breakfast experience at Rox Diner. The place was cozy and inviting, with a friendly staff and a great menu. I ordered the South Beach omelette, which was made with egg whites, spinach, tomato, and Swiss cheese. It came with fresh fruit and organic yogurt and granola instead of home fries and toast. It was light, fluffy, and delicious. My friend had the Flatiron Benny, which was a huge portion of steak, eggs, and hollandaise sauce. He said it was tender, juicy, and satisfying. The coffee was hot and strong, and the service was fast and attentive. We both agreed that Rox Diner is one of the best breakfast spots in the area, and we can't wait to come back and try more dishes. Rox Diner is a must-try for anyone who loves comfort food made with love.

Came here because they had great reviews on Yelp and they have gluten free options. They were very accommodating to my dietary restrictions that they even cooked the potatoes separately and had gluten free bread. One tip to readers make a reservation I didn't realize you can join the waitlist on Yelp which will save time when you get there. It gets pretty packed quickly. We got there around 10AM on Sunday and it did slow down a bit towards 11AM but I'm pretty sure it picked right back up. I got the cornbeef hash which was so good! It was so well seasoned and potions were more than enough. My partner got the Fine Dine Breakfast Sandwich and I quote "it was more than fine" - we will excuse the pun but overall from the servers to the food I would 100% recommended.

Had just tried another breakfast place that had terrible customer service so decided let's try this place. Wow not only is the food on point but the customer service was phenomenal. There were 2 young ladies working the floor and they didn't skip a beat. Our waitress (Isabella) was so friendly even when the customer at the table next to us was more than demanding she kept a smile. This is no easy task. The blueberry, pecan pancakes are soooo yummy. Everything was made just as we ordered. We have found a new fave breakfast place for sure!!! I hesitated to write a review cause I wanna keep it a secret but they are so good I had to share. I'll make sure to take pics next visit

Great food and portion sizes! Highly recommend! Important note-make sure you get on the waitlist as it is very cozy inside and when busy you will need to wait a bit. Definitely worth it!

What a sweet find!! Looking for breakfast or lunch and found both! The menu had EVERYTHING from breakfast to lunch and everything looks so good! Omelettes, Benedicts (Bennys), pancakes, French toast, sandwiches, burgers!! Oh my how will I decide? Oh...and they serve mimosas, bloody Mary's and Irish coffee too!! And did i mention DELICIOUS? The service was quick and the server was kind and very accommodating!! We are only visiting Boston for a couple of days but this is definitely worth a repeat!!

Followed yelp suggestions and visited here Friday morning while in the area. We had tried once before but wait was too long so going on a weekday is a plus. A bit classic and old school, this has a neat cafe/diner kind of feel. Nice breakfast menu and even Bloody Mary's on the menu. I went with a traditional Western Omelet that was cooked perfectly and quite tasty. The potatoes were even better than the omelet. I ordered a side of marble rye toast and it was good but needed a bit more butter but my fault for not asking for more. My wife had the Bloody Mary which was okay and I had a delicious coke. Service was quick, place was busy and prices were fair. On street parking can be tricky but I'm guessing locals know some secret spots.

Loved it. Menu was good and not the blah blah breakfast at other restaurants. Only thing is that it is popular and the place is small so there is usually a line.

Excellent diner!! Loved the Roxi which had home fries, two eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and french toast. The french toast was one of the best we have ever had and the sausage was awesome. I had a cup of coffee and I actually had three cups! My kids had a variety of dishes that we all thought had surprises in each dish.

My friend took me there for the first time last week and I may have found my new diner. Since moving to Boston a year ago, I've missed having a regular diner to visit. It has the classic diner look: warm and welcoming. The food was incredible. Rebecca, who waited our table helped me find the perfect meal. She knew the menu very well, was personable, funny, and caring. I'm going back today!

They need more staff, especially on the weekends. I waited 45 for togo order. Also they kept forgetting peoples orders and poor estimating of time. The food is good. But more staff and better management.

Came here for the first time with my fiancé and had an awesome experience. Great coffee, delicious food and above all our waitress Rebecca, was so tentative, personable and kind. Thank You Rebecca for making this breakfast an enjoyable one ! I definitely recommend the Rox Diner to anyone whose looking for a delicious local spot with exceptional service.

They never disappoint. Any time I order take out from here there food hits the spot. It's a classic diner vibe with diner food and it all tastes wonderful. Would recommend!

Hi I have always went here with my family. We have went here since the 2000"s. When we went here we were waiting for a table for an hour. Then a group of 7 came and waited 5 minutes and got there table before us. They just got there and we've been eating for a HOUR. The waitress had horrible attitude. My beans here are always overheated and spoiled. Don't go here.

Saw this spot while in Roxbury with friends and decided to have breakfast. Very limited outdoor seating. There was only one table for two when we arrived. Side street parking is available. I ordered the Fine Dine breakfast sandwich. It was really good. Great portion size and service! Will definitely visit again

The Rox diner is one of my favorite places for breakfast. The food is great, especially my favorite - the apple/cinnamon/granola pancakes! Very friendly staff! Best time to get there is when they open because it does get crowded especially on the weekend.

This is best diner around. Everything here is good and we've never left disappointed. They even have booze for brunch! Really, no notes here-it's perfect. Try the homemade corned beef hash!

The food here was alright. There wasn't much seasoning or flavor to anything. We both got the Rox: French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast. Our server was nice and attentive for the most part. The one star is for the older waitress with black hair. She was being extremely rude to our server and was refusing to help her do anything. Not only was she belittling, but also just embarrassing for the establishment in general. I'm guessing this woman is "Rox" and made the excuse she is the other two servers older sister and that's why she gets to treat them that way. Want a great tasting breakfast? Go to Makennas or anywhere else.

I had high hopes for this dinner as i'm new to the area and have heard pleasing things about it in the past. However, I can confidently say I won't be back. The service was horrible and it was very cramped. Usually I wouldn't mind waiting 30+mins to be seated as long as I can leave saying that I thoroughly enjoyed my meal but that wasn't the case. The food was decent at best. However definitely not worth the price. The utensils were not clean and had food residue still on them! I sent it back and I cant say for certain but i'm pretty sure they just wiped off the old food with a damp cloth because it still wasn't that clean when I got "new" utensils. The staff was not friendly and and took forever to do anything. It seemed as if they cared about getting you out of there as soon as possible rather than making sure a costumer enjoys their dining experience.

My first time to Boston w/ my dad, brother & boyfriend and we were craving breakfast, so we checked out Rox diner. Not only was the food amazing, but our waitress Rebecca was over the top amazing! She's a true Boston with some sas and fun personality! We had a blast visiting with her and cracking up! When we ordered our Uber we needed a mask to sit up front and we didn't have any, do Rebecca was super cool & sweet to run to her car & grab a hand full for us. Will definitely be back to see Rebecca and have some awesome French toast!!! French Toast

I really like this place, great atmosphere and great food, but I have had several bad take-out experiences in a row. I just got a simple omelette, black coffee and orange juice which cost $22. No fork and knife in the package, no straw for the OJ which is in one of those containers that requires a straw, no napkin, no jam for the toast. I asked for extra butter on the toast and it came with the usual meager amount of butter. The toast was both burnt and cold. The quality is usually good, so the prices are exorbitant, but these details matter if you're charging that much. I reached out via their contact form on the website several times, never get a response. I think I'm moving on. Update: I tried ONE LAST TIME and the omelette was undercooked and gross (couldn't eat more than 3 bites), bread was stale and the potatoes were part raw w no flavor at all. I'm ready to accept that Rox Diner has just gone waaaay downhill.

Normally I don't have much negative to say about this place, but today we placed a pick up order and they forgot to add our toast, which is no big deal. But the worse part was that i found a women's hair in my Omelet. Totally disgusted us all from eating our food, so basically wasted $40+

I had a very bad experience at the diner yesterday. I waited for almost 15 minutes for a waiter. (Mind you I was sitting at the counter. They just kept ignoring me.) Then I waited another 25 minutes for my food. They had given my order to the couple sitting next to me. After it had been at their table (and they had been talking over the food) for several minutes the waitress said they made a mistake and tried to give me THAT order. Why would she think I would eat food after someone had been talking all over it for several minutes? I walked out. This place is obviously not the quality place it once was. SOOO very disappointing.

We went for breakfast. The waitress was friendly, breakfast just ok. Hollandaise sauce was cold, but had decent flavor. The waffles are listed as Belgian and they are the smaller variety, which still counts! It is a little lost in the past dining style and very rumpled, but the coffee is decent and they keep bringing more.

I was looking for a nearby breakfast spot and I am so glad to have stumbled upon here! I got my usual breakfast meal: white toast, home fries, sunny side eggs, and link sausages. The home fries were made to perfection and all of the flavors were great. This will be my new go to spot for breakfast/brunch food!!

Been going to Rox diner for years and I am never disappointed!!! Breakfast is delicious, lunch is even better!! Their burgers are so good and I don't like burgers, the Rox is one of 2 places I will order one. Their tuna melt is to die for and I can only eat half, I bring the other half home for later and it's just as good! The staff is amazing, always so pleasant and they work their butts off!! Check this place out, you will not be disappointed!!

It's been years since I created Yelp for the sole purpose of giving this place one star. Recently I was in the mood for brunch, and my friends said she would pick it up to go and I reluctantly agreed because hey, it's been years maybe they just had a bad day that one time and they're actually great. Nope. So the first thing the person who picks up the phone for the order says is "it's gonna be at least 30 minutes so if you can't wait that long then I can't help you." Who the heck ANSWERS the phone like that??? Already with the flashbacks of the deplorable customer service from my first visit. We proceed with the order since it was Sunday at a breakfast place, we knew we would have to wait a bit. The employee continues to be extremely rude the whole ordering experience. We ordered an omelette and 2 avocado bennys. Obviously it's covid so this was take out, so I can't testify to any dining experience. However, they said 30 minutes... we ended up waiting 56 minutes. Oh and of course the omelette was wrong. And missing toast. I think it's a slap in the face to the brunch world to have a section of your menu titled "all about the bennys" and give one drop of sauce per egg. Like why are you so stingy with it? At least it wasn't burned this time, and the potatoes were good. Everything was also ice cold upon pick up even though we were early to pick it up. ice cold eggs, yum- said no one ever. I only increased one star since the food was actually edible this time, but everything else was just as awful as years ago. I still cannot comprehend why people swear by this place.
