Roxanne’s Review - Beacon Hill - Boston - The Infatuation

"Roxanne’s is a cocktail bar in Downtown Boston. It’s very much a place to drink first and eat second, as they only serve a full menu at lunch before paring down to snacks later in the day. The drinks are all just $10 and the space feels like a members-only club in Tahiti, making it one of our favorite spots to drink in the neighborhood." - Dan Secatore

We live in Florida now. Roxanne's is a great place to gather for our nj/ny family when we come back to visit. Love the atmosphere. The dishes visually open your eyes, and the taste is a great blend of the region. We will come back.

Decided to come here since I haven’t been here in a while and they have a big menu so I figured I would try it again. Did not disappoint. Coconut shrimp(pictured) was very good with a very unique and sweet raspberry sauce. Baked ziti (pictured) was very cheesy and filling. Everyone was very friendly.

Google
We chose to go here because the menu looked great, and it seemed like a nice quiet and chill place to go, especially after church. I'll say that was exactly what it is. The food was fantastic, and the ambiance is great, especially if you're there with family and friends and trying to catch up. The service is good, and dining in the outside underneath a full covered, full of sun (depending on time of day and weather) AC veranda is perfect.

We go to Roxanne's often. The food is delicious. The prices are reasonable. The portions are large enough we often have leftovers to take home. The staff is warm and attentive.

Went here for dinner on an early Thursday evening around 5:00 PM. The restaurant has a large outdoor tent with ample spacing between tables. At this time of evening it was not crowded, although the parking area was filled by the time we left near 6:45 PM. Roxanne's had a full menu and drinks from the bar available. We had the fried calamari for an appetizer. This is usually well prepared, but although the calamari was tender, the coating was not very crisp and it was sitting in a puddle of oil. Part of it could have been the 90 degree weather, but it was disappointing on this visit. Much better were the entrees of Lobster Ravioli and Shrimp Scampi. Both were very tasty and well prepared. Our server wore a mask and was very friendly. Service outside wasn't the fastest but overall was fine. We finished the evening with a cappuccino and cannolis. Both were excellent with good frothed milk on the cappuccino and fresh cannolli cream in a great, crispy shell. Roxanne's is a fun, family friendly restaurant with good food at reasonable prices.

Google
Very happy with my meal here. The brick oven pizza has a thinner crust but still manages to be soft which is hard to find. The chicken wings were huge, not like the wings you find at most places. The service was phenomenal, numerous employees around to ensure everything is great. I unfortunately need to address a couple faults, however, with great food and service my review still stays a 5. The rolls brought out were cold, hard to spread butter on a cold roll, heat them up. Secondly, the fact you charge 3.5% for using a debit card is more than what it costs you as the business to pay for the transaction. Debit cards are far cheaper to process than credit cards, and even credit cards don’t charge the business 3.5%, so this is unfair. Thirdly, while you are hugely popular it is hard to to the business from the road, trim some of the beautiful landscape down just a bit. Otherwise you guys rock.

I have enjoyed going to Roxanne's for many years, but I was quite shocked by our bill during our last visit. With the credit card fee, our bill was close to $250 for three adults, a teen, and two kids. With tip, we were almost at $300. I think we paid significantly less at the Lobster house in Cape May for also 6 people, and I actually had lobster in my dish down the shore. We had two pizzas, 2 mozzarella sticks, 1 garlic bread with cheese, two individual salads, an individual baked ziti, and an order of meatballs. We didn't have steak or seafood. We didn't have alcohol or dessert. They use quality ingredients like fresh mozzarella instead of shredded, Kalamata olives instead of canned black, fresh mushrooms. All are worth a premium price but they just seem exorbitant. My child's baked ziti and meatballs, although adult sized, were OVER $40. He didn't even eat the pasta because there wasn't enough sauce or cheese. He did enjoy his meatballs. Soft drink refills are not free like most restaurants. The atmosphere is absolutely lovely and the service is very attentive and excellent. My one complaint about staff is one of the young ladies at the counter was in the restroom with my daughter and I and left without washing her hands. Overall most of the food and experience was very enjoyable, but I just can't justify steak and seafood prices at a pizza restaurant.

Google
Really amazing pasta! We had a huge group, and everyone was really happy with their dish. I got the pappaderelle alla toscana, which was incredible. The portions are huge. It’s busy and fairly loud, so perfect for a larger talkative party. The waiters were nice and accommodating.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while. Nice spot for pizza and pasta. Place is very big inside. Though very dark and old fashioned inside. Really loud inside hard to relax. Started with Roxanne's zucchini and eggplant chips . With cucumber sauce. Did was really good. Chips really crispy and prepared well Ordered cheese stuffed rigatoni. Ni w cream sauce with sun dried tomatoes Pasta was too hard and not stuffed enough. I ordered braised pork shank. I loved it was a huge shank tender. Comes with porcini mushrooms . Was creamy and cooked good. Will def be back but not during busy hours it's way too loud. Service staff very good. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
We've been coming to Roxanne's for a long time since my father loves it here. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and the service is consistently friendly. The appetizers and bread with sun-dried tomato and pepper dipping oil are definitely a highlight--always fresh and flavorful. That said, I personally have mixed feelings. While the food is clearly made with care and huge portions even when you opt for non family style, the tomato sauce is just a bit too acidic for me, and I find myself getting acid reflux every time I eat it. If you love a super red, tangy sauce, you'll probably enjoy it, but it's not for everyone. Overall, a solid spot, just not my favorite. We always start with appetizers the calamari fritti and Roxanne's chips which are the absolute best. I love the crispy eggplant and zucchini and it pairs well with their cucumber yogurt dipping sauce. We ordered a few different entrees, rollatine eggplant, Parmigiana Chicken with vegetables, calamari fra diavolo, and Chicken Capricciosa. The eggplant was good it just came with way too much pasta and too much sauce a bit heavy on the parsley garnish for my liking. The calamari fra diavolo is my father's favorite and he gets it every time. The chicken parm with vegetables was a healthier option. The chicken capricciosa was delicious as my boyfriend gets it every time and loves it's basically a salad on top of breaded chicken and got a side of pasta as well. The food is good and dessert is hit or miss from the times I've been here. Overall a good spot for parties or family dinners.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had dinner here. I had a wonderfully juicy burger with perfect fries and he had lobster ravioli which was served in a creamy sauce and was delicious. Atmosphere was warm, server was attentive and welcoming. Food was fantastic. Definitely recommend

Yelp
Went for a birthday celebration! Food was delicious and portions are very generous. We had fried calamari that was good but needed to be cooked a bit more. Bed that came needed to be warmed. We had lobster ravioli, chicken Francese and chicken Milanese, they all were delicious. Nice large dining and outdoor seating area too. Service could have been a little more personable.

Sonu S.

Yelp
The worst chicken I ever had. The chicken parm sauce was basically red sauce out of the bottle. The salmon smell so fishy then they gave you potatoes which was like literally the size of golf balls. They didn't even bother to sauté them or seasoning them, just boiled potatoes tossed on your plate. This place has gone downhill and the money was a rip off. I will never return here. I'm done
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered their arugula salad and chicken cutlets for dinner and they were both delicious! The salad came with a yummy balsamic dressing that tied it all together. The chicken cutlets, were delicious first I was picky about which strip I took (precut which was nice) fearful I may get a weird piece but they were all top quality and the breading and texture were perfect! We ordered delivery but will be definitely visiting in person.

Karen Z.

Yelp
We ate there yesterday,4/19/2025, and found the service to be very very good. The menu was something you can find in a thousand places so nothing exciting there, the prices were much higher than necessary by a solid 25%, the food was good and the portions were reasonable. The owner/manager, a large guy skulked around in a weird way but easier enough to ignore but I mention it bc it was strange. Overall, nothing about this place warrants another visit as there are tons of places like this with better prices. One and done.
google avatar

Karina A.

Yelp
Not worth $20, their chicken cutlet sandwich didn't even come with mozzarella. You had to order it in addition for an extra charge. I bit into the sandwich and there was no chicken. I had to open it to make sure there was and it was a size of a chicken tender. The fries were soggy and there was barley any chicken on the sandwich. If you are looking for a chicken parm sandwich don't go here because you will be disappointed and it's not worth your money.

Scott H.

Yelp
The food is good but $93 for 2 large pies and a 1/2 tray of salad feels like robbery.

Yelp
It's rated 3.5 stars for a reason... food was ok.. super stale rolls replaced with super stale rolls.. Chicken malenase was ok, over pasta with arugula. It was tasty. But nothing outstanding. I find downstate restaurants, at least Italian restaurants are maybe owned by an Italian but run by people that have no idea what Italian food is. It's just kind of pump it out with big quantities and folks will be happy. Very bland very not Italian. Not very good. But, if you want a lot of meh food this is your place. Not impressed at all. Nice enough place to sit at the bar with a friendly bartender..

G G.

Yelp
This place used to be good but the quality has gone downhill while the prices have increased. Because the prices are high, you get the impression you're going to get good food but the food is not worth the price. Just go somewhere else. I've gone twice recently and the food is unevenly cooked. The sauce on the pasta isn't heated With the rest of the meal. I ordered soup once and that was cold. It's not the place it used to be. It's important to k le that before you go so you can go somewhere else.

Debora A.

Yelp
Did one of us suggest quinoa and kale salad? Sorry, almost licked the plate! Oops, not home! Dress up, dress down. Sit inside or outside. A bit on the pricey side so have your sheckles ready! Pay with cash to avoid that RIDICULOUS cc fee many restaurants are tacking on (always in fine print). Gotta go; gotta mangia!

Yelp
Excellent food with extremely prompt service . A little loud but the evening was very enjoyable

Yelp
Complimentary bread with delicious dipping sauce- really good pour of house Chianti wine. Food comes hot and fast. This restaurant gets super-busy at peak times. Family style or individual portions available. (not a BYOB). We came at a quiet time, and it was great. Mia was our server, and she was kind and attentive. Update: 3.5% surcharge for using a credit card. Food is pricey, but you get a lot, at least. Menu hasn't changed since I've been going there (for years). Just read another review that they put chicken broth in their tomato sauce- I'm super upset, because who does that? Even though I said I was Vegan, that didn't come up when I ordered my meal. If I go back, I'll stick to Garlic and Olive Oil to flavor my pasta.

Mark B.

Yelp
I was at Roxanne's on Saturday 6/8/24. The person that took our order was good, but the people how brought the food and bussed the tables were rude and incompetent. The food wasn't as good as it has been in the past. I WON'T GO BACK

Fred V.

Yelp
The pizza is excellent. I'm not sure why they have some bad reviews. I have dined here multiple times and always enjoyed the food.

Yelp
went here on Sunday August 20th 2023 with my parents, after visiting my aunt in Wycoff, NJ. We decided here because it is close enough to go to. We were immediately greeted at the host stand, and sat at a table near the pizza oven. Server also greeted us warmly. We all started with 3 waters, and 2 cherry vodkas with sprite, and one with seltzer. We started with an appetizer of zucchini chips. they were very tasty. for entrees, i got the rigatoni alla vodka, my mom got a chicken dish with salad, and my dad got chicken milanise. food was good. big portions. we also took our food home with us. they charge 3% for a credit card. prices isn't bad though. paid with credit card and left a cash tip. hopefully will be back another time.

halina b.

Yelp
We have ordered from them 3 times in one week. Their Rigatoni Siciliano was amazing. I had the spaghetti bolognaise with angel hair pasta. Delicious! Their garlic bread is also amazing. We had it delivered with door dash and it arrived HOT. Very pleased with this place!!!!!!!

Jade D.

Yelp
Used to be much better. Linguine Vongole was bizarrely salty- it's one of my favorite dishes but this was almost inedible. So disappointing - especially at $33 for pasta with clams.
google avatar

Neb A.

Yelp
Really bland food, used to be so much better and I don't think it is due to Covid induced loss of taste. Prices have gone up everywhere but especially here while quality has sadly gone down. You can get much better parmigiana sandwiches nearby for 30% less money. Pizza is good, but I believe they charged us $20 for a 12 inch thin crust cheese pie.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Ordered 3 Chicken Hero's today. Received Chicken bits on the Jerri and not a full cutlet. No worth $18 each.

Yelp
Popped in for an early dinner around 5 last Friday. My husband and I were seated right away. We only ordered two glasses of wine and some comfort food-appetizers because we didn't want to eat heavy. We really just wanted to have a few quick drinks together for our first time dining out since Covid. We ordered the calamari and wings. My husband loved both and they were huge servings! I would like to return to try their pasta and other dishes. The menu seemed quite delightful and the outdoor experience was pleasurable even though we were eating in their parking lot . The tent was huge, High and spacious. It was breezy and we were seated apart from others. 5 pm was the best time to go before it got crowded. The parking lot tends to fill up rather quickly therefore be prepared if you haven't been there since COVID. Good job to the staff for working under such conditions.!

Yelp
A typical pizza joint .. by the third time there I was convinced this is not for me. Food just ok little audience and the prices were above what the offerings were .. not talking quantity but quality ! want a pizza I guess it's ok
google avatar

Renegade R.

Yelp
Really good food and selection, actually better than expected for 1st time. Really busy so this place isnt a secret. Definitely going back.
google avatar

Tommy H.

Yelp
It's been a few years since we dined at this establishment. The food was and still is delicious and the quantity is definitely worth the cost. However, the place seems to lack ambiance and the staffs were not quite friendly. I would definitely be returning to eat here but would not go for any special occasions.
google avatar

Yelp
Roxanne's was excellent, well priced and had an amazing staff. We had two pizzas (margherita and a white pie) and they were both excellent. The margherita has a sweeter than usual sauce but it worked well. Curst was thin and perfectly cooked. Our order came out in a reasonable time despite the restaurant being busy (very busy). We didn't have a reservation but now I know better for next time. The host Theo was very welcoming and accommodating. I was weary at first to try it because of other people's experience particularly those who were price conscious. I'm reminded by what's been attributed to Ben Franklin in these instances: "The bitterness of poor quality lasts longer than the sweetness of low price" and while the credit card fee is annoying, nowadays everyone is doing it (or hiding the fee via increased prices). We will most certainly return to Roxanne's.

Vincent F.

Yelp
Our favorite go to Italian Restaurant. The food is always consistent. The manager Yanni is the best
google avatar

Yelp
An excellent time at this great place. My family came together for a birthday lunch at Roxannes for the first time and had a great meal. Everything we ordered was delicious. The management was excellent with all safety protocols fully observed. The sun room was really nice, roomy with substantial space between guests we all felt safe. Since we all have been vaccinated we were truly happy to be able to finally enjoy a meal out together. The service was awesome and the food was spectacular. They served a really cold Oktoberfest beer too.
google avatar

Yelp
Roxanne's is a reliable takeout spot, my fiancé's family has been coming here for years. Their menu has everything you'd want from an Italian restaurant, plenty of pasta dishes, pizzas, fish, chicken, and other options. In the past I've always ordered a pizza or pasta dish, and the portions are huge. You'll definitely have leftovers. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo always hits the spot! However, we picked up takeout from here last week and I decided to go for a lighter dish and tried their grilled salmon. It was super simple, prepared with a little olive oil and capers, but absolutely delicious! In my experience, their takeout service is very fast and we always get our correct order. I haven't dined in here in years so I can't speak to their in-house service at this time.
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza is good and I love the outside heating part of the place the waiters are so sweet
google avatar

Yelp
Food is mediocre at best. Service was absolutely horrible. Nasty management. Nasty service. Avoid it. Too many other awesome places to go to put up with this nonsense.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Roxanne's pizza (actually I'm a huge Kinchley's fan so I go between the two often). I can't have cheese but my partner likes it on his pizza. So, I was surprised to find out, when we ordered a pizza recently, that they charge an extra $3 to actually take the cheese that would normally be on the entire pie and add it to only one side. The woman taking our order over the phone had to ask her manager if there was an extra charge and his answer was that they can't do it without charging extra. Not a good business decision but I guess they know their pizza is good and won't go out of their way to do these things. It just doesn't make sense. I can say, though, the pizza is great. And it's also nice sitting on the porch in the nice weather.

Tyler V.

Yelp
Food at Roxanne's is very good (Rigatoni Alla Vodka and their Pizza are my personal favorites). Service and ambiance are good, however it is pretty pricey.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
The pasta dish that I had here was terrible. I didn't even take the leftovers home and I don't waste food. I had the pappardelle alla toscana. It was terrible. It was supposed to be in a sherry cream sauce - there was barely any sauce on the pasta it was that dry. The mushrooms were so chewy that I couldn't eat them. My brother in law had the same dish with the same complaint. My husband had the cheesesteak sandwich which was dry and awful. My sister in law had a Cesar salad which you really can't mess up. The waitress was not attentive at all. She breezed by a couple times so quickly that she didn't even notice that I hadn't eaten most of my dish. Waitresses should notice these things about their tables. To top it off it is an expensive place. Maybe I should have stuck to pizza.
google avatar

Mikayla L.

Yelp
Stuck up, Unwelcoming and Rude. Its unfortunate because I have nothing bad to say about the food. I enjoy the arugula plain pie and alfredo. However, I am NEVER impressed by the waitresses and the way I am treated here. For what ever reason, my partner and I are not treated with common decency anytime we show up in casual dress wear. As soon as we order alcoholic beverages, I am rudely asked for my ID before I finished my complete order. I have no issue with this because it is the law, but be a little nicer! On top of that, a few moments later a man comes over (I'm assuming a manger) laughs and asks me (not my partner) for a 2nd ID. Who carries 2 IDs when ONE works perfectly fine? Terrible people and even worse experience.

Yelp
Just traveling thru. Looking for pizza with my wife, son & my grandchildren. Found Roxanne's. I could tell by the Jag & Ferrari in the parking lot it would be good. It hAs a nice feel when you enter. We just had the pizza. Except the kids wanted fries... best I've had in a long time..not the frozen crinkle cut you find in most places but real potatoes, hand cut & crispy...I had to steal some. Pizza was stone oven grilled, thin with a great sauce...We had two. My wife ordered wine- she rejected the first offering and soldiered on with the second. A great find - Roxanne's. Check it out.

Sheryl R.

Yelp
Good food. Good- sized portions. Reasonably priced. Friendly service. We always take home leftovers.
google avatar

Rupert W.

Yelp
If I had any criticism it would be that my portion was way too large. If, however, I'd been able to take a doggy bag away I'd have been very happy (hotel stay made that impossible). Attentive and plentiful (if a little busy) staff, great food. I'll be back!
google avatar

X X.

Yelp
Oh where to start, let's just say the salt and pepper shakers for a lot of exercise this night, even that garbage shaker cheese.

Judi S.

Yelp
The prices have gone up but the quality has gone down. A lot of wait staff hanging around doing nothing but it's hard to get their attention.
google avatar

Teree G.

Yelp
Pizza wasn't good tasted old ! Wings I actually liked so much I ordered them again but it was a fluke
google avatar

Amy N.

Yelp
I have had good experiences eating here. I went last night for Valentine's Day weekend dinner, and though it was crowded, we were seated right away (though we wouldn't have minded waiting if we needed to). Also, we got served our meal pretty quickly! I had a rigatoni which was delicious! Service was good, our waitress was on top of refilling our water. I'd go back!

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Place has awesome takeout food . The restaurant is a bit loud and service could use an upgrade . The tall man in front at the register is not friendly at all . I live the food here so since I don't like to eat at the restaurant cause of above I take out . I love the chicken dishes and fried calamari the best . All in all food is good and will not let you down
google avatar

JP S.

Yelp
Great food, great pizza, great waitstaff. The family share dishes are perfect for a family of four.
google avatar

Leonard M.

Yelp
It's always fantastic and a barrel of fun. Their family style dining menu offers small to medium size the full Italian style experience any night.
google avatar

Craig W.

Yelp
Roxanne's margarita pizza is 9.6/10 hands down the best pizza in New Jersey. Need to get barstool there to try it and score it.
google avatar

Holly K.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner with my in laws and it is a great place for a larger group. We had made reservations and our table was ready and waiting for us. The menu is huge and you can pick from individual portions or family style portions. Even the individual portions are quite large. Pretty good wine selection with a mix of house wines and specific brands/regions. I tried quite a few of the main dishes out and the favorite of the night for me was the shrimp scampi. The sauce was chockfull of garlic and just super flavorful and delicious. I got the lobster ravioli in pink sauce which I enjoyed. The chicken and eggplant parms were just okay to me, however my MIL thinks their eggplant parm is the best she has ever had. I thought it needed a bit more seasoning. They use fresh mozzarella and it does make for a beautiful dish when all broiled up. Valet parking made getting in and out easy and quick!
google avatar

Pete M.

Yelp
Couldn't get any worse for pizza. Stupid expensive too for such cheap ingredients and poorly made. Even the salads were old and soggy.
google avatar

Jamie W.

Yelp
Recently stopped by this place after a great day up at Ramapo Reservation, so naturally, we had a big appetite. There is a cute little outdoor area where we were seated (we were given the option of where we would like to sit) It was a Monday afternoon and therefore not busy at all. We ordered mozzerella sticks to start, they were a bit overpriced and nothing really special. Kind of bland if you ask me. The waitress brought bread to the table with this really good seasoned oil to go with it. I really enjoyed that. For my meal I ordered rigatoni with vodka sauce and it was to die for. I wish my stomach was big enough to finish it all. I ordered a refill on my soda and was charged for it, so I'm assuming there is no free refills which I find a little weird. I feel like most restaurants offer free refills of fountain drinks but whatever. Overall, I'd say the experience and atmosphere of this place was very pleasant.
