Roxie Deli & Barbeque

This place reminds me of a neighborhood deli mart, however it has an added smoked bbq meat. The service can be a bit long as they carefully craft your sub or sandwich hot or cold. The ambience of it resembles that of a small town deli mart. Although they kind of forgot about my sandwich after 3 people getting their sandwich before me even though I was before them, the sandwich made up for it. It was very tasty and fresh. The Roxie Special was definitely special. My only complaint was that the bread recommended for this was a bit harder than I’m use to. I grew up in Philadelphia eating Hoagies from when I was 9 throughout my teens to adulthood at several friendly neighborhood deli marts from Philadelphia, jersey, Connecticut, Boston, Delaware, northern Virginia, and so forth. I highly recommend this place, however be prepared to pay a premium as it is not cheap.

You aren't going to find better smoked brisket anywhere! They put that on the best bread roll baked in San Francisco and you get an unforgettable BBQ experience. Whenever we're in Sacramento, we call ahead or order online. The staff is helpful and professional. It is located in a pleasant, mostly residential neighborhood. A few outdoor tables are available, but the real draw for us is the amazing sandwiches.

A very cool bodega feel. They have a focused menu with quality items. The sandwiches are huge and absolutely worth the price. I highly recommend and will be back.

Amazing bbq. A small sign to say order here would be a nice touch. Overall very good. The smoker out front let’s all know what they’re in for and it made the area smell so good. The guys were working hard and able to keep track of many orders at once. Service was great. All friendly and casual. The food was excellent. I will definitely go back.

There's nothing like the feel of a good ol traditional deli. But from the second you step inside you can tell Roxie's is not your average deli. You are greeted as soon as you walk through the door and making sure you're helped is their amazing staff's number one priority. Then there are the endless options of food, from the barbecue tri tip and chicken cooking outside on the grill to the meatloaf, there is no choice that you can make that is wrong . . . it's all delicious! I go here often. Everyone where I work also goes here. They have a smoker the size of a Volkswagen! I would say they make the best meatball sandwich I have ever had. That being said, there is not one thing I’ve eaten here that I didn’t like. They are super busy but they keep the line moving and are friendly. . I highly recommend Roxie’s deli as one of the best sandwich spots if not the best deli in town!

Roxie's Deli & Barbecue has been my mom's go to lunch spot for over a decade. Situated in East Sac, Roxie's is known for their famous sandwiches and BBQ specials which change daily. Today is Thursday so I knew bbq brisket would be on the menu. We find free street parking right away. The outside seating is well maintained and clean. Inside is a convenience store with a wide variety of hand-selected microbrews and craft sodas, chips, and a variety of candy bars. You can also find freshly made deli sides to add to your BBQ combo plate along with freshly baked cake slices. Ordering at the counter is easy, the deli workers were fast and provide excellent customer service, definitely deserve a tip. My BBQ combo plate came with two deli sides. Brisket was perfectly smoked, potato salad and pesto pasta was very fresh and delicious! Everything was tasty, well packaged and worth the cost. Make sure to stop by and treat your family to a delicious lunch, especially if you're visiting McKinley park nearby.

Local spot that has been a staple for a while and is consistently pushing well made subs with good quality meats. I go for the Roxie special, supreme, or brisket. The subs are packed with different meats and come with everything on them standard. They do BBQ here too so you have options that rotate but are only available during the weekdays. Brisket is Thursday and Friday btw. If you are looking for a stacked sub I would definitely give this spot a try.

Roxie has been a place I've been wanting to try for quite some time! I will say the service was phenomenal. The staff were super quick and efficient and gave some great suggestions with me being a first timer. The ambiance is more of an old school staple, definitely a place that's been around some years. The sandwich itself was really good! My only personal critique (and this is a preference thing) is that it was a little dry, I wish it had a little more sauce on it. But the produce and meat were super fresh which I greatly appreciate in a sandwich! Potato salad was delicious! Hoping to try some BBQ during my next visit!

Super excited to check this place out! I ordered a chicken marinara sandwich, supreme. So, it's my first time here, and I made the mistake of ordering it supreme thinking that was due to toppings or something of that kind, and didn't realize it's because it's the XL size sandwich! Upset but that's my fault. Asides from that, the sandwich wasn't great. I was expecting more of a marinara taste. I will not be ordering this again. I also ordered my husband a house sandwich, and he loved it!! The meat, the flavor, and the bread, all on point. Glad at least one of us liked their sandwiches. I would definitely be back, but ordering something different for myself, and most likely another house sandwich for my husband.

Stopped coming here two years ago when 1/3 sandwiches we ordered without onions due to a food sensitivity had onions. One time they wrote "extra onions" on the wrapper and when we called in about it they said we were just making a joke. A very not funny joke. We stopped coming for the better part of a year. Gave them another chance a few weeks ago and they executed correctly. Called in an order this morning at 8:40. Was told around 15 minutes. At 9:12 when I arrived to make sure they were ready they said oh we did what we said we shouldn't and gave them to the wrong person. I guess we have to remake them. I had my dogs in the car which is why I gave the extra time so I'm stressed but also need breakfast and at this point have no choice but to wait. I then say please don't put onions on them as that is a common issue we have when we come here. She then says this is a deli there are onions here with attitude. I said I get that but I'm asking you to be mindful of a food sensitivity and you clearly don't have my order in front of you. She was so dismissive. I will never return again.

Old school place, smoky inside because of fresh meat being cooked. I had the Monday tri tip sandwich that was great. Meat was tender, bread was fresh and all the fixings were tasty. The business also has a great beer selection.

I have lived in East Sacramento for over 10 years and why I have never been here is beyond me. This place is amazing. A gem off the beaten path. The tri-tip sandwich, the meatloaf, their turkey. I can go on and on. The staff is awesome as well. Will I go here again 100%.

Good barbecue sandwiches and has mini market for drinks and snacks. Sandwiches are good but pricey. Sandwich dudes were really on top of everything but no bathroom available. Some nice outside seating so either come on a nice day or plan for a to go order. Really did like how they bbq on site with different meat on each day.

I've been going here for the past year and a half and every time I come in I feel super welcome and I know I'm going to get an amazing sandwich every-time. I usually get a Tri Tip with everything on it, however this time I tried their Rueben and let me tell you it was probably the best Rueben I've ever had. I look forward to my lunchbreaks just to come here!

This place will give you bodega vibes! Yell out your order and your meal will be ready in minutes! Come ready for a delicious, moth watering brisket sandwich, topped with onions, BBQ, and melted cheeses. This places beats out other Sacramento BBQ spots by miles. Will be coming here again for another bite. They have different meats on different days so try to check before you head over but their brisket is *chef's kiss* delicious!!

Fresh Fresh Fresh. Oh man this is some good bbq. This deli needs to be diners, drive-ins, dives. You won't be disappointed.

Breakfast is all day and it's sandwiches guys not a plate. #3 and #4 are the only ones worth getting, the hot links and meatballs. Who wants to pay for ham or vegetarian food. Exactly. The hot links are awesome and spicy just how I like them. They have homemade local baked goods at the counter so just throw those in the bag too. If I'm forced to eat sugar to support local businesses I will. Great friendly service and employees so lots of loyal customers, especially from UC Davis which is why I'm here in the first place.

One of the best sandwiches in Sacramento! Definitely an underrated spot that only the locals truly appreciate. Staff are friendly, always a good vibe in here and the food is amazing. Starting to eat here weekly.

In town visiting our son and they recommended Roxie's he said you will like it they have great BBQ and sandwiches. My wife and I ordered the tritip sandwiches and a 1/2 slab of ribs to share amongst the family. Inside is small but the have tables out front and on the side paved lot. We decided to take ours and eat at the part. First of all we got the regular which is 1/3 lb tritip on Dutch crunch. Tri-tip was perfectly smoked, cooked well and tender. The sandwich was fantastic. I smoke a good tri-tip myself so I'm a bit more particular. And these guys nailed it. The ribs (pork, St. Louis style) were meaty, Smokey and tender. They have plenty of side salads and chip selection to pick from along with drinks. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

I was in the area and picked up a sandwich again this week. Perfectly made again!! Same nice guy and same great quality sandwich. I use to be a Togos fan but recently their sandwiches have gotten so much smaller but for the price and even lower, I would rather have a Roxie sandwich.

A friend in Sac recommended this spot to us and we are so grateful. the vibe is friendly. Great service. Most importantly, our sandwiches were so freaking delicious.

Okay I'm out on Roxie's. There's one guy there who takes pride in what he does but I swear something is up with this place. It's on a downhill slide. Place is filthy. Service is unpredictable. And sometimes you'll have a great sandwich but most times it's terrible. And by terrible I mean it'll make you sick, not jsut bad tasting. I'm done taking the risk coming here especially for $15 a sandwich. Photo below shows you what is supposed to be pastrami. Clearly some rubberized junk.

If I could give this place 100 stars I would, and that's saying a lot I'm pretty picky about my sandwiches. The service was amazing, everyone was welcoming and happy to see their patrons. You can feel everyone behind the counter is an expert at what they are doing. I also always love good counter banter and hassling, it makes it fun. We came on a Thursday which is brisket day, highly recommend. I myself had a house sandwich, which had turkey and pastrami. After my first bite I knew it was my new favorite sandwich. I also love that their fixings include jalapeños *chefs kiss* the bread is so fresh soft but also a good crunch. We sat outside and were able to thank the owners wife I believe for the amazing experience. She recommended the corn beef sandwich, which I wish I had room for, but I had scarfed down my turkey pastrami. I will be back asap

I've had Roxie's a handful of times and their quality of food, quality of service, and their setup keep me coming back. I enjoy their meatball sub on Dutch crunch roll, although, I've not had anything I didn't care for. The size of the sandwiches are pretty substantial and the prices are fair considering the economy. In addition to sandos and bbq, they also serve a wide variety of chips and a massive variety of beer and wine. Their outside seating is well maintained and provides a nice view of the neighborhood no matter the table.

I went here for lunch. My friend suggested this place and I have never been. I am always looking for a good BBQ place. I arrived and they have 2 - 3 parking spots for the restaurant. The rest of the parking is up in the air. The neighborhood has no parking unless you have a permit tag. So just be aware. The place is small and no tables inside. All the tables are outside with some shaded area. I got there around 1140 and there was a line inside. I waited about 10 minutes. I wanted to try both the tri tip and the chicken so I got a plate witch was around 18 bucks. I got potato salad and the garlic mushrooms. The chicken was overcooked and really dry. So disappointed since they smoke it all was hoping for the best. They missed the mark on this and it is available all the time unlike the tri tip. It wasn't that god either. My friends sandwich was good but smothered with sauce. The tri tip was medium well which isn't good since sitting out will get to be well. Only on Mondays so wished for better. hopefully next time I will come on another day. Very disappointed. Oh well.

Came here with a friend of mine a few days ago. They're a local resident so they wanted to show me one of the neighborhood spots. When we walked in the place reminded me of a corner store or gas station convenience store. Plenty of drinks, chips and candy wrapped around the inside. The 2 guys working the counter found out it was my first time and went thru some of the options. I chose the brisket sandwich which they put on a soft roll and Katie got the meatball sandwich on Dutch Crunch. I thought the brisket was amazing but the meatball might've been even better!! Great service and banter from the employees. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other options!

Had to stop in here as this place had the same name as my late Grandmother. Not too often I see or hear that name, so I made time to check it out for lunch. Whether you're driving past or walking by, it's hard to miss the signs and smell of the BBQ pits going out front. To me that's always a good sign when it comes to BBQ. I went in and visually looked at everything. Roxie's has an older convenience store vibe, with a familiar deli inside that common to locals. Which is kinda nice because it gives you that "If it's not broke why fix it?" vibe. There were a couple of people in line placing orders for food, but I took a look at the drink selection for a while first. I notice the wide array of bottled drinks to include the cane sugar drinks, and more obscure cream sodas which are my favorites. Having grabbed several drinks for my girlfriend and I, and went to the front to also grab her a BBQ chicken sandwich with cheese. It didn't take long for the sandwich to be made, and it was good according to my girlfriend. And I really enjoyed the Cream soda with real honey. Overall: I wish I hadn't had lunch yet, because the Roxie's brisket looked and smelled amazing. So I'll have to stop by again and try that.

Super Delicious sandwich spot. Old school Vibes with great Customer Service. Dalton made my Sandwich today BBQ Tri Tip and a Salami. He put the right amount of condiments on he didn't overdo I really do appreciate I love a good sandwich. If you like quality I highly recommend this place.

This is how you treat loyal customers. Won't be back. How do you wrap this and expect the customer to be happy. It's inedible. Try to call and just a busy signal.

This place was the bomb! This place was super busy. Get there early. I ordered the brisket sandwich, wow amazing. The brisket was cooked perfect and on point. The sauce was perfectly mix with this sandwich with the Dutch crunch bread... you will not be disappointed.

Check your sandwich before you leave! I used to love this place but I won't be back. I Just spent $30+ on two sandwiches only to discover that they did the complete opposite of everything we asked for. Ordered dutch crunch; received sourdough roll. Asked for cold sandwiches; received hot. Asked for no oil and vinegar; received oil and vinegar. Asked for pickles; received no pickles. Asked for no peppers; received peppers. Asked for no onions; received onions. Seriously bizarre, especially since the guy asked twice what our order was. If the employees know they have a bad memory, they need to write the order down. Especially disappointing because I don't live particularly close to Roxie's so to go out of my way to support this establishment only to receive sandwiches that weren't enjoyable is not acceptable. Write down orders! I know they're trying to keep the process old school but it doesn't work when employees are messing up orders for sandwiches that cost $14 or more.

First time coming here, I was craving a warm sandwich and this spot is it. The Roxie house sub was my fav. The service was great. Very helpful.

First time I came I got a couple of their signature sandwiches and those were really good. They have a nice Dutch crunch that doesn't hurt your mouth. Tons of chip options. I find it difficult to order though. The counter is really high and I wasn't always sure if the staff could hear me. Was told I needed to get the tri tip sandwich so came back for that. I was good but I was curious how they prepared it. When I got to the register I could see them twirling the meat in a cup with a ton of sauce and cheese. There was so much steam coming off of it that I was curious if they microwaved it. It was good but so heavy in sauce and I feel like seeing them prepare it tainted my experience a bit. I really don't know if it was microwaved and hope that they didn't. Kids sandwich was just turkey and cheese on sliced sourdough. Incredibly dry. Didn't add mustard or mayo on it. But some of this goes to the ordering experience. You can't see what's going on and it is very difficult to communicate with the staff.

Still one of the best sandwiches in town. Tri tip on Dutch crunch is one of my favorites. Anything with beef now a days is gonna be expensive. But very flavorable. Still the old SanFrancisco neighborhood market vibe. Service is good, but not fast food. Big bbq smoker out front. Today they had burgers on the grill, which looked very delicious. Gets busy at lunch time so go early or later for quicker service.

This was my 2nd visit here, and I am so unimpressed and not understanding its 4-star rating. The menu is on the wall, and is a bit eclectic. The sandwiches come with "the works", but there's no description of that. I ordered the Roxi Special, which has artichoke hearts (my sandwich had 2 very small pieces). They asked what type of cheese I wanted, I said cheddar, but I got Swiss. Why ask if you're just going to put some random cheese on it anyway? I don't like Swiss, so I removed it. I also removed the shredded iceberg lettuce because it had that nasty flavor shredded lettuce gets when it's old, but even removing it didn't remove the taste that had permeated the sandwich. My junior sandwich (which is the smallest size) was about $14, which is waaaay overpriced for what you get. Definitely going to skip this place in the future.

I'm sad to be writing a negative review, since I previously posted a positive one, but something seems to be off with Roxie Deli. I've purchased dozens of sandwiches over a number of years, and purchased racks of ribs numerous times, driving from Fair Oaks to their store in East Sac. Last week on Wednesday I called at 1:00 PM to ask if they still had racks of ribs available. After getting a positive review I drove down and got there about 1:20, picking off both sandwiches and a rack of ribs. They asked if I wanted the ribs cut or whole and I asked for whole. The rib box was a bit smaller than usual but I assumed they found a way to fit the rack, and it was already sealed closed which I should have questioned since they usually have me look. After driving home and opening the container we found dried out, individually cut, overcooked and burnt ribs. What a disappointment, we tasted a few, and put the rest in the fridge. These were obviously not cut from a full rack, but individual leftover pieces that had a metal taste like they had been sitting on a cold grill. I called to store to complain and the woman who answered assured me the owner would call me after the busy lunch period. I never got the call late Thursday or Friday, By Saturday I assumed they were not going to call so I took a picture and disposed of the balance. I recommend avoiding this place, especially for ribs.

The sandwiches are amazing! We always order the Meatball Mafia. I have been eating there since 2006. Today the staff recommended to add a hot link to this sandwich. It was next level greatness. This palace is pricey but they deliver every time a mouth watering sandwich. One thing I do not like is the smell of the deli. I wish they had better ventilation.

I've been to Roxie Ala few times now, and every time the sandwiches are amazing. Recently I took a coworker here for lunch and he agreed that their sandwiches are fire. The rotating menu of fresh smoked meats and the everyday offerings are all delicious. I really like that they include jalapeño when you order Roxie's way. My personal favorite is the brisket and meatball mafia, but everything is good. They definitely pile on the meats and toppings, and half a sandwich could be an entire meal if you're not too hungry. The staff is friendly and the service is pretty quick for how busy they get.

Roxie Deli is our favorite place to eat in Sacramento. We moved about an hour away back in 2015 but my husband had training in the area for a few months so we found it while we lived nearby. We don't get to Sacramento too often but when we do we always find a way to eat there. The staff are fantastic and entertaining as well as making fabulous food. There is great outside dining area near the smoker, some tables on the sidewalk and some in another covered area. I cannot recommend this place enough for both meat eaters and vegetarians. A sign of a great deli is they smoke their own meat in the smoker but being a vegetarian, I am interested in their veggie sandwiches. They have a variety of beverages, some alcoholic ones as well as non alcoholic options. They have a great variety of chips and other snack items so there really is something for everyone! I have never had a bad experience at Roxie's!

Wow, this place... Sucked. A lot. I've lived in Sac for 9 years now, & finally tried Roxie Deli for the first time and it was a MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT. Do not go here if you want a quality sandwich for a reasonable price. Any of the large chain Sando shops (Subway, Mr. Pickles, etc) would be a step up. Not an overreaction. The sandwiches were not only very bland, they were very sloppily constructed with the sandwich filling ratio very off... AND expensive. We bought 4 sandwiches (Roxie Special, Roxie Supreme, Brisket, & Chicken Parm). No one enjoyed their sandwiches. We tried to keep eating because they were so pricey but nobody wanted to finish their sandwich. So incredibly disappointing. I will grant that it was very busy, but if you call yourself a deli that charges as much as they do, are better product should be expected. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 (which it truly deserves), the blonde lady who rung me up was incredibly sweet & nice. That's it. Go to Sampino's instead & actually enjoy your meal.

Stumbled upon this neighborhood gem on our drive home to LA. Wished I discovered it sooner on our trip. Any sandwich spot that has Dutch crunch bread automatically gets an A from me, this is literally the best bread ever! The guys working there are super fast and super thorough. I told him I have 2 sandwich orders but I'll call it after he's done making the first one, he was like go ahead call it out. And Let me tell you, he didn't miss a beat. My sandwich and my bfs had everything we wanted and didn't. Salami on Dutch crutch, get it, you welcome! Also, I'm super picky with my bbq, to me nothing beats bbq from Texas ....but the owner be smoking up some delicious tri tip! Tender, juicy with the perfect amount of smoke. I can't wait to come back and try all their grilled meats!

I've been here twice! Tried the brisket sandwich and today the pulled pork! The gentleman who made the sandwiches definitely knew what he was doing! They were fire! 100% need to try!

Horrible experience! I bit into my sandwich and found a BANDAGE inside. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about their food handling practices. I will never eat here again.

This is a hidden gem located in East Sacramento. We ended up stopping by on a Sunday and they had tri-tip available (usually their tri-tips are on Mondays). We ordered two regular sandwhiches which ended up being massive. The team was friendly and accommodating. They were able to guide you through the menu. We ordered the tri-tip sandwich on ciabatta and the veggie sandwich with the "works" but also added bbq chicken to it on a Dutch crunch roll. Don't forget to get some chips and a drink on your way out. If it's a nice day it's great to sit outside since they have some outdoor seating.

Really a hole in the wall bbq joint! The food was so flavorful and good I am a HUGE bbq connoisseur and it is really hard and disappointed to come across a bbq spot and the meat is dry. Roxie is the complete opposite. The food is flavorful and they actually smoke their meat. The brisket melts in your mouth and it has the smoke rings! I just ordered whatever the pit boss recommended and im glad i did. I have been thinking about the brisket sandwhich ever since i ate it yesterday. Might have to come back this weekend

Service is top tier and the guys behind the counter are awesome. Ordered a Roxie supreme which tastes great and satisfied that sandwich craving.
