Best Neighborhood Restaurants in the San Francisco-Bay Area | Eater SF

"Roxie Deli & Barbeque in east Sacramento is great for an on-the-go sandwich or pastrami-stuffed pierozhki, and their 7 a.m. opening is clutch for day trips or early flights." - Eater Staff

This place reminds me of a neighborhood deli mart, however it has an added smoked bbq meat. The service can be a bit long as they carefully craft your sub or sandwich hot or cold. The ambience of it resembles that of a small town deli mart. Although they kind of forgot about my sandwich after 3 people getting their sandwich before me even though I was before them, the sandwich made up for it. It was very tasty and fresh. The Roxie Special was definitely special. My only complaint was that the bread recommended for this was a bit harder than I’m use to. I grew up in Philadelphia eating Hoagies from when I was 9 throughout my teens to adulthood at several friendly neighborhood deli marts from Philadelphia, jersey, Connecticut, Boston, Delaware, northern Virginia, and so forth. I highly recommend this place, however be prepared to pay a premium as it is not cheap.

Amazing bbq. A small sign to say order here would be a nice touch. Overall very good. The smoker out front let’s all know what they’re in for and it made the area smell so good. The guys were working hard and able to keep track of many orders at once. Service was great. All friendly and casual. The food was excellent. I will definitely go back.

I asked for additional tri-tip (Monday's specia only) on my plate, and either his hand slipped or he definitely hooked it up. I had to leave a decent tip. Not their fault, but my only complaint is that I wasn't able to order the plate using either DoorDash or Uber eats or even GrubHub. There was no option for a bbq plate so I had to drive here. Delicious!

Roxie's is a nice gem in Sacramento that offers consistently good sandwiches. I also appreciate that they offer a variety of chips, drinks, and other sides in their shop. I usually go for the classic turkey with pastrami and they always stack it high. I wish we had more corner delis like this throughout the grid. However, I knocked off some stars because of their phone/online ordering system. My sandwich has always turned out correct, but it's the customer service part when I go in to grab my food that's a pain. I usually approach and stand next to the register, not impeding their walk-in line, however the workers behind the counter will continuously overlook & ignore me. Often they appear to get into tunnel vision with their walk-in's, quickly making sandwiches and helping those people, while I awkwardly linger next to the register. I try to respect their hustle during a rush, but this is becoming a consistent thing and it defeats the whole purpose of ordering ahead. Yesterday, I stood next to the walk-in for over 20 minutes waiting to be asked, "How can I help you? Are you here for a pick-up?" Eventually I had to awkwardly interject another customer's order to get my own, which was sitting ready & paid for behind the counter the whole time. It's not clearly posted whether phone/online orders should come to the register or wait in line, so maybe at first they think I am looking. However after 20 minutes standing in one spot with no other goods in hand, I was surprised they never thought to take a minute and say, "Hey we take orders in line not at the register, unless you called ahead" and ask if I needed something.

After seeing online reviews and videos of food influencers gave it a try today. Got a meatball sandwich and the house sandwich which was turkey and pastrami. They guy at counter with beard was really nice and helped us with the menu when we told him it was my first here. 10/10 for customer service. My honest review was on both sandwiches they both were mid. We got to Bradshaw sandwich shoppee and compared to that this was pretty mid. from the reviews and videos I was kinda let down :/ also it was pricey. 2 middle sized Sandwiches 2 20oz sprite and chips It was almost $45

There's nothing like the feel of a good ol traditional deli. But from the second you step inside you can tell Roxie's is not your average deli. You are greeted as soon as you walk through the door and making sure you're helped is their amazing staff's number one priority. Then there are the endless options of food, from the barbecue tri tip and chicken cooking outside on the grill to the meatloaf, there is no choice that you can make that is wrong . . . it's all delicious! Thanks Roxie you rock 💯

Always good. Any sandwich I've ever had here is great! Thankfully, it is in my neighborhood and I can call in an order (today it was 2 link breakfast sandwiches) and pick them up. Fast, friendly and delicious? What's not to love. Check them out for sure

We had a make your own- Roast beef on Dutch crunch and a few specialty Sandos. They were all delicious but we spent about $75 on three sandwiches two were large so that’s probably why. Not sure how I feel about spending $75 on sandwiches.
