2018 Boston-Area Restaurant Closures | Eater Boston

"A Somerville Bengali restaurant that moved from Cambridge in 2014 and expanded into an adjacent space, Royal Bengal closed after serving an array of Bengali dishes including shorshe maach (fish with ground mustard sauce), kasha mangsho (spicy goat meat with rice), murgir jhol (chicken stew), shrimp in coconut milk gravy, plus curries, biryani, and tandoori specials." - Eater Staff

Tried Royal Bengal Indian Cuisine for the first time today and honestly… it was SO worth it 😋 I got the chicken biryani (medium heat) and a mango lassi, and wow — the portions were huge, easily enough for two people. The biryani had the perfect spice kick — hot enough to feel it but not too crazy 🔥 — and it was packed with flavor. The mango lassi was super refreshing and creamy, like dessert in a cup 🥭🤤 Overall, 10/10. I’d totally recommend this spot and will definitely be ordering again soon. 🙌

Google
Royal Bengal Indian Cuisine catered my niece wedding, and they absolutely nailed it! From start to finish, everything was handled with such professionalism and care. The food was top-notch, the chicken roast, polao, beef curry, mixed vegetables, and desserts were all bursting with authentic flavors and beautifully presented. What made it even better was that they offered an all-in-one package catering, hall, decoration, and full wedding service, making the entire event completely hassle-free for us. Guests are still talking about how delicious and well-organized everything was! They’re now under new management, and you can truly taste and see the difference. I highly recommend everyone to give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

I went in with a few friends and we all had different types of biryanis. All were delicious! Cooked to perfection! My favorite was the goat biryani. The service was amazing. Our server was the sweetest and very attentive young lady. To end the night perfectly, we were served tea in their cute game corner, where we sipped tea and enjoyed a game of Ludu. Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. Must try.

Google
Royal Bengal seems to be thriving under its new management and chef. I visited after a long time and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The Chicken 65 and Chicken Tandoori were both delicious, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The garlic naan was impressively soft and fresh, making it a perfect complement to the dishes. To finish, their tea was rich and aromatic, adding a warm touch to the meal. Overall, it’s clear the changes have elevated the dining experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Google
Really dissatisfied with my order. I’ve had good experiences in the past with food and store but when I ordered food from their Uber store, I received overcooked mozzarella sticks that has obviously been fried in old oil. The smell was terrible, it was greasy, and there were burnt particles on it. I’m disappointed and hope changes will be made to the quality so all products are good not just a few.

Google
If you are looking good food and nice place to hang out. This restaurant is the perfect place. Food is 10/10. Restaurants are very clean I love that.I try chicken biryani and chicken 65 gyro plates. Mango lassi is 9/5. I highly recommend that place

Raisa A.

Google
Samosa, lamb biryani and kacchi biryani are really good. Food is presented beautifully and tastes homemade. Overall good experience and definitely would recommend! Owners and staff are very friendly as well.

Google
Not sure why somebody said the food was too oily but that’s how desi dishes are usually served, at least where I’m from. These dishes remind me of my parents home cooked meals that I would have when I was younger. Great tasting food, amazing tenderness and the best service that a restaurant should have to offer. Overall I’m pleased to say that I will be back time and time again for more.

Yelp
service is terrible!!! We've been waiting over 50 minutes for an order they said would only take 10-15. A family who ordered after us received their food before and finished before I could even get my to go order. Plus an additional person who placed an order after me received their food first. We ordered the same thing!!!Once we voiced our frustration he's just looking and smiling with no concern for the inconvenience they've caused. I don't wanna play the race card but everyone who received their food before was of their ethnicity and I'm a young African American. Take this as you will.

Yelp
We wanted an Indian buffet and tried here. I saw pics of the buffet on Yelp, and it seems it's definitely changed since those pics were posted. The good- the food (except the fried veggies) looked fresh and food was hot. The butter chicken was tasty. The not so good- the options were very very limited. I was not expecting rows of options, but only half of the buffet was even stocked (one small table). The one lamb dish meat was incredibly dry. The rest were just ok. For $13, it was not much of a buffet. Restaurant itself looked very clean, though dated. We were the only ones there.

Yelp
This Indian restaurant never misses! Everyone I bring here loves their meal, and I can't complain about the variety of vegetarian choices! My favorites are the paneer tikka masala or the vegetable korma. My meat eating friends have also told me the Tandoori is excellent. Service is always friendly, and ambiance is pretty traditional but always clean and enjoyable. I'd say this is one of my top favorite Indian restaurants in the area.
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
Finally, there is a good amount of chicken in the Butter Chicken to warrant the price. Although the sauce was always good, the chicken was in decline, so whatever changed was for the better. The sauce is a little thinner than the past. We will likely to go back.

Yelp
Not too far from us. We ordered channa masala, bindi masala, daal special, veggie masala and butter chicken. There's music but it sounds like ambiance music instead of the loud noise from last night. It's not busy inside. There are two tables of diners. We are seated on opposite ends of the dining area. We ordered shortly after 7:07pm. One table is leaving and two more Parties have come since ordering, all are seated on the other side. The butter chicken and the veggie masala are my two favorites, the channa is bit mushier than I am used to, but it's still good. The bindi and the daal special is also quite good. The daal special is quite spicy, it's good, but it burns. The daal special reminds me a lot of the spicy ref lentil. All of the dishes were really good, all 5 of them. That's not usual for all of the dishes ordered to be so good. The meal would have been even better with some of my favorite dosa and gobi manchurian. All of our 5 dishes arrived around 25 minutes. At least the staff checked up on us. The food and service were all good either way.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I am South Asian and my mom makes amazing South Asian dishes so I do critique these types of restaurants a bit more harshly. And even with that, Royal Bengal Indian Cuisine earns a 4-star review! I have not tried their banquet so cannot comment on that, but the food is great. Great flavors all around. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. My reason for taking away a star: prices are on the expensive side (especially if you compare to the vast number of Bangladeshi/Indian restaurants in Hamtramck), however, a tip, check for their Groupon if still available. Have been here twice already, and will be back soon!

Rachel B.

Yelp
Great food. Friendly staff. I always get their lamb karahi. It's the best I've ever had! Their Biriyani rice is outstanding as well. We come here often.
google avatar

Brittine R.

Yelp
I eat here all the time it's definitely one of the best places ever . Amazing spicy food . Try the chicken wrap
google avatar

Janine B.

Yelp
The best butter chicken I've ever had. My fiancé sqys their chicken biryani is twice as good as what he used to get in Hamtramck. Portions are large. The place is clean and they seem to do mostly carry-out and banquets. Staff has been very nice every time I go there.

Samir A.

Yelp
Way too oily and soggy. People were available to help quickly but didn't know their own prices. The inside is very nice but I took my food to go. I think they need a better chef or better recipes because I paid half of a hundred dollars for inadequate food. Never getting my business again.

Suria A.

Yelp
I had the lamb biryani, butter chicken, and garlic naan and everything was good to eat.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
This was such a waste of money. We got two chicken main dishes and both were dryer than dry. The Tandoori chicken, even though it was dark meat, was like wood!!!! I won't be returning
google avatar

Veldin M.

Yelp
The food was pretty good (i'd say 4 out of 5 stars for the flavor) but the prices are pretty up there for the area. It's a decent sized portion but to me if I want to spend this much money, there are quite a few spots i'd rather go to and would get equally good or better Indian food.
google avatar

Avijit K.

Yelp
Not impressed by the food. Samosas were wrapped in dumpling wrappers instead of maida. The chutneys along were more of food color than actual chutney and the palak paneer tasted like something put together with palak. The saving grace was their meat stuff and looking at the menu, it seems like that's where their specialty lies. So probably just stay away from vegetarian items.
google avatar

Nick B.

Yelp
With the pandemic and Groupon, the stars have aligned for me to try this place again. I will say that the prices are high, but Groupon fixes that. Probably won't return when those deals have gone. Many items aren't great here on the buffet, but I will say that the lamb karahi and the briyani aren't too bad for carryout. Mango Lassi is the best deal in the place at $2.50! Had to update because today is my 3rd time going in 3 weeks!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Yay they are back!! Best chicken tikka masala around! Excited to see the lunch buffet is back too!
google avatar

Eddie K.

Yelp
So good! I honestly have only ate Indian food 3 times before. This was my first visit here. It was amazing!! Got carryout via Grubhub, picked it up and chowed down. I was a little hesitant to try a lamb dish again because the last time I did at another place it was terrible. This lamb dish was delicious, tender af. On a side note you would never think a "thai chicken wrap" would be good but it was one of the best chicken pitas I've ever had. Here is what I had: 1 Chicken Tikka Massala $12.99 1 Garlic Naan $1.99 1 Samosa $2.99 1 Lamb Biryani $12.99 1 Thai Chicken Wrap $4.99 On a side note, order the food medium to start. I get my thai food hot, but in India it's a few steps up.
google avatar

Jenny P.

Yelp
This isn't a terrible place. I have had better but also worse. It's great for events! It's next to my workplace so super convenient for me. I have only tried a handful of Indian restaurants but this place is probably my third or even second favorite. They do deliver. But I work right next to it so no point for me but for others, awesome. They have lunch buffet which is cool for those who wants to try a bit of variety, not much but for the price ($10?) it is good. Not a full five stars because as I stated, not number one for me and two, they have messed up my order a handful of times but its not stopping me from coming back.

Yelp
How does one show LOVE??? Taking your special Valentine for Butter Chicken! It was Valentine's Day and we were craving Indian food, to be quite honest, we always crave Indian food. This restaurant is close to my house and we wanted to give it a try. Walking thru the door, the smell of the food was amazing and we both couldn't help but smile :) We were seated at a quaint little table for two and one of the best parts about the meal....looking at him! He is most definitely eye candy! lol What made this spot extra special, we were out of the hustle of the crowds. We were able to enjoy each others company while plotting our meal choices. He is the expert in this category. He decided to order Butter Chicken and Palak Panner and Naan Bread. The meal is served with rice, which we both are not eating at this time. Every time I eat Indian food, I fall in love with the flavors a little more each time. The meal was delicious. He ordered our dishes with a spice level mild because I am a bit sensitive to the heat. The Butter Chicken melted in your mouth, the Palak Panner was perfectly cooked and the Naan Bread......YUMMMMMM! We will be back to try the lunch buffet. I hear that it's fantastic. We can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Eli S.

Yelp
Great buffet, tandoori chicken is a must try! The buffet had many vegetarian options and plenty of meats as well, including chicken, fish, and beef. Great price, quality Indian cuisine. . . What a hidden gem.
google avatar

Jade P.

Yelp
This was my first time having Indian food. Soooooo yummmy!! First off let me start by saying that I am vegetarian. I was pleased to see that there were so many vegetarian options on the menu! I ordered the channa masala which was delicious! I ordered mine medium heat, and I would say that it was pretty spicy. I broke a sweat while eating my food, so if you can't handle the heat, I would order mild. I also ordered a spiced Indian tea, and rice pudding for dessert. I will definitely be back to try more of the vegetarian options and will be recommending this place to friends!! The two other people who were with me today were not vegetarian, and they were equally impressed with their meals.
google avatar

Mok S.

Yelp
I ate here several years ago and ordered my tandoori very spicy, food came out cold and mild as ever. Figured I'd rather not come here again. By coincidence, my sister just so happened to have her wedding banquet arranged right here just last Saturday, and although I have no complaints about the food, guest accommodations were the absolute worst I've experienced in all of my years of working under catering as well as attending friends' wedding events. We were told everything would be set up and accounted for prior to the start of the event, yet the second I walked in I noticed the ventilation was very much dead and the staff resorted to very unprofessional excuses when confronted about it. This had to have been a known issue and nothing was done to prepare for it or even accommodate the guests for it. Staff was incompetent to the extent of being unable to sufficiently provide even cold beverages, as far as as cold water, again, knowing the ventilation was going to be an issue. We ended up having the majority of our guests leave the event before desserts were even served because of all of this. After the event, we had complained to the staff that most of our guests had not felt the hospitality and therefore the opportunity to eat, so we had requested that we receive the rest of the food we had already paid for to be packaged so we could serve our guests after the event. The staff instead insisted that the full ordered quota had actually been met by the end of the night, despite us reinforcing with pictures and detailed accounting for every family that left early/never arrived. Avoid this business at all costs.

Yelp
I LOVE this restaurant. I come here for dinner whenever I'm back in Michigan & show all of my friends. Now almost everyone I know orders from here GREAT food!!! Friendly service. And they will make thier dishes SPICEY if you ask nicely.

Yelp
This was our first time at this restaurant and I we absolutely loved it. We got the rice, beef curry, chicken curry, naan regular and garlic and it was absolutely to die for. The restaurant it so beautiful and very clean they are very nice. They give you a lot of food. It is a little pricey but I feel if it's good than I don't mind paying a little extra.
google avatar

Yelp
This was an unexpected surprise! The room is simple, clean, elegant. It almost seems out of place in the strip mall. The hosts are gracious and very welcoming. I was immediately comfortable the moment I stepped through the door. The servers are very friendly, knowledgeable, and careful to check and ensure that they have your order right. I've always taken it as a great sign when a server takes the time to be careful. The food is wonderful! We have a lot of Indian to choose from in this area, so to stand out you've got to be good. This place is edging out the competition for a number of reasons. 1) Generous rice portions. We didn't have to order additional rice, which we've had to do in other restaurants who were skimpy with the rice. 2) Fluffy, smoky Naan bread. The bread is so essential to a good Indian meal, and this place gets it perfect. Other restaurants bring you floppy, lifeless pieces of dough. 3) A perfect balance of spices. The entrees have to be good, and the chef has to know what they're doing so that the sauces don't overpower you, but don't dull you either. Royal Bengal's sauces are magnificent! I'm so glad we found this place, I am a fan for life!

Yelp
I visited here last Friday night, and I must say, this was some of the best Indian food I've ever had! Not only that, but the decor and the waitstaff were great. I had lamb tikka masala that was out of this world. I had ordered it "spicy" and it was just right. The mango lassi was topped with whip cream and berry drizzle, which I thought was a bit over the top, but it was still very good. (Next time, I'll ask them to hold the whip.) I visited here with a Groupon that I'd gotten for $19 for two entrees and one appetizer ($3 max). It's a little more expensive than the cheapest Indian places, but well worth a return visit. I'm planning to return even though I live far away (Ypsilanti). The onion bhaji were really good. They're the house special (not listed on the menu). Very fresh and very naughty in their deep-friedness. I would just like to note that I am coming to see how important it is to specifically say you want "spicy" if you are not of Desi descent.... I think often restaurants assume we won't be able to take the heat, so now I'm in the habit of being specific, after having had very bland tasteless and creamy tikka masala. The spice level REALLY brings out the taste in the food.
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
This restaurant is very clean and we always have very attentive service. They have a large menu with some notable items like biryani, butter chicken and tandoori chicken being very good. The wait staff is also very helpful if you need advice on selecting an item.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
5 stars. Delicious food. The chicken tikka masala was delicious, not too spicy. The naan is huge and freshly made. I'll be back there for sure!
google avatar

Jenevieve L.

Yelp
Food was mediocre at best. Our appetizers were overcooked and the spices dry as though they were forgotten during prep and added only as an afterthought. The main courses were again, OK. The best moment came upon finishing our meal. I noticed a Cockroach climbing the wall next to me. I didn't sound the alarm because I just wanted to see how this would play out. I was not disappointed. Mr. Roach eventually visited the table to investigate our food. The waiter appeared at this point so I indicated the little visitor. The waiter proceeded to attempt to squash the roach with a napkin. Mind you, we are seated and our food is on the table. Being a Cockroach, he didn't squish on the first attempt. Nope, the waiter smashed the napkin atop the fella, then lifted the napkin only for the roach to run. It took 3 attempts to dispatch Mr. Roach. We were given a 10% discount. We will not return.

Yelp
Average food Over priced for the same indiana restaurants LAST visit The amount of food is not enough for one average meal. too much oily Poor service !!
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Solid buffet, great flavors and good service. To eat good Indian food in Warren is a blessing. Visit for the buffet to sample the different foods. Butter chicken is super good.

Rita K.

Yelp
Buffet is very bland. Food lacked spice, heat and flavor. Their meats were chewy and underdone. I was craving tender chicken and meats in spicy curries. Definitely not what I got! Dessert and chutney were flavorful though.
google avatar

Felicia M.

Yelp
If you live in the shores, it's a great option. Loved it! Great service, food came out quickly tasted great! Same family (they're cousins) who owns Noor Jahan. They have nearly the same menu, but of course each chef has their own style. I encourage you to try them out!
google avatar

Travis R.

Yelp
Food here is the best Indian food around 10. Staff is friendly and kind. Very attentive to your needs. Only reccomendation is I would like more rice and naan with my order. Portion sizes for those are too small.

Brooke B.

Yelp
Cannot say enough good things about this place. The food is delicious; when they were dining indoors, they were quick with great ambiance; ordering through delivery apps is always exactly what I want. They make amazing chicken tikka masala and I love their veggie samosas

Steve B.

Yelp
This is the best Indian food around. I usually get carryout and the turnaround time is quick and my order has always been spot on. The chicken Tikka masala, chicken korma and chicken vindaloo are my go-to dishes. The Tikka masala is the best I have ever had - highly recommended. Sometimes for lunch I stop in for the buffet and I have never been disasspointed. The employees are always quick to greet me and the food is fresh and hot. I prefer medium spice and it's always perfect. I have had medium spice in other establishments that is either too hot, or more often than not, not spicy enough. Royal Bengal gets it right everytime. Not sure what else to write other than this is my favorite Indian restaurant. The food flatout tastes better than the other Indian restaurants in the area. I highly recommend stopping in if you are looking for authentic Indian food while in Warren.
google avatar

David Y.

Yelp
Theres not a lot of Indian in the Warren Area. This definitely provides the open door to the times that an Indian Crave sets in. The owner is always friendly and looking to see what he can do to better the full customer experience. Indian is always a little pricier. With that, this place is fairly competitive. I'm a butter chicken kind of guy. This dish was a tad bit on the sweet side, but nevertheless, very good.
google avatar

Bruce M.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time the other day. I got the chicken tika masala and 2 orders of naan. 1 regular and 1 garlic. Everything was delicious. My only gripe is that I feel it's kind of expensive for the amount of food I actually got.

Ma L.

Yelp
Very nice and fancy restaurant with really reasonable price.Esp. they serve buffet and you ca eat as much as you want. As a big fan cor curry, it is so awesome that you can try different kinds of curries at one time!
google avatar

Emm K.

Yelp
We got the palak paneer, dal karala, chicken tikka, rice, naan. Pros: The waitstaff was polite and helpful. The decor was good. The restaurant was clean. The seating comfortable. The chicken tikka was pretty tasty. The naan was decent. Cons: The palak paneer which traditionally is my favorite Indian dish, was salty and did not seem fresh. The dal karala could have used an umph in it... I'm not sure why I was expecting it to be more of an original dish than a straight forward yellow dal with pieces of karala in it.
google avatar

Kera M.

Yelp
My new favorite Indian joint! They have a great buffet at around $8 with so many good options..spice and flavoring is perfectly..not bland at all! Yay! Finally! & their naan bread is the best naan bread I've ever had! (& that includes a yummy home made naan from authentic Indian family/recipe) I believe they offered sweet naan (peshwari) instead of the regular naan and it was just soooo gooooodddd...this Indian restaurant isn't as "nice" on the inside as other Indian restaurants I've been too but so far the food is the best!! And that's all that really matters to me!! It's still a great restaurant all around with great food and great prices! I got my brother hooked on Indian food after going to this restaurant 8-) Can't wait to go back- super nice staff as well!
google avatar

FoodFairy D.

Yelp
Are you kidding? Priya has long since fallen from grace, but then along came Michigan Masala, which is delightful. I'm talking East Side now, so not sure of places on the West Side. Moti Mahal is disgusting. Then along comes My Royal Bengal, and it is divine. The palaak paneer couldn't be richer, and the fish tikka masala is so creamy and rich it is out of this world. Spice level depends on what you ask for. They are on the spicy side, so if you normally get medium, go a little lower. I have had this several times, several dishes, and everything is amazing-everyone I have taken there agrees. The decor is simple, but I get take-out, and they give you a 10% discount for doing so. The staff is more than accomodating as well. I ate here long before Groupon, and couldn't be happier it is accessible from home, instead of going all the way to the West Side to have an Indian meal.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
First Yelp review, here it goes. If you are reading any negative reviews, please disregard them. If you are looking for a super authentic indian food experience, this probably isn't for you. The food is meant to taste good, not be fresh out of India. I have been going every Wednesday to this place for the past 8 months for lunch and don't plan on stopping any time soon. I am literally addicted to the chicken tikka masala and the lamb vindaloo is also very good. Their mango lassi is an excellent side. Why is it so expensive? Probably because I am eating three times what the normal person eats at a buffet so they have to compensate the expenses haha. This is easily on my top 5 places to eat in the Detroit area. I always leave feeling stuffed to the point where I am afraid to drive.
google avatar

Adam R.

Yelp
Most disappointing Indian buffet ever. This food deserves 0 stars. First it's more expensive then any other Indian place. Second where is half the buffet? No Rita, Sambar, Dal, Chutneys, Indian fried breads and such. Third why is everything spicy and watery? Fourth, why am I literally looking at palak soup or aloo gobi soup, wtf? Fifth, I like my chicken a bit underdone, but for a resteraunt they are very borderline on cook level. This was hands down the worst place I've been and I've been to a lot of Indian places. If you want any positives for those who feel the need to rate places on the Bathroom, I can report there bathroom will pass your cleanliness standards. I can also report that those who need to downgrade other Indian places because of a dirty table cloth will find a pleas an surprise of no table cloth stains(well at least today they didn't). And the decor almost makes you forget about the slop.........I mean food here. If you haven't got the hint by now, save your cash and go elsewhere or better yet go to the Casino and place a bet at a table game, your cash will probably give you more enjoyment there. Listen to the 1 and 2 star reviews of this place fellow Yelpers or make the same mistake other Indian cuisine lovers have made. The 3-5 star ratings coming from this place are from people who are either delirious, new to Indian cusine(probably this) who know nothing about true Indian cuisine or they have something at stake in this place. As has been said before by another Yelpers, this buffet was so bad I'm not giving them a second chance to get a regular food order right.

Yelp
This Indian fare is very disappointing...and expensive considering its mediocrity. The Sunday Chicken Biryani serving was adequate, yet was mostly rice and onion with only a few slivers of green pepper and little chicken in the dish. The flavor was adequate...mostly because the chicken in the biryani rice was dry and rubbery. The most expensive Chicken curry on the menu $12.99, recommended by the server and greatest disappointment was the Chicken Tikka Masala. Flavorless with literally a few slivers of chicken in a shallow soup dish of flavorless curry sauce. The two of us had to ration it. I voiced my disappointment regarding the lacking flavor and paucity of chicken in the curry and the dry rubbery chicken in the biryani...the servers response "The quality is in the sauce. This is the portion of chicken we always give." The curry sauce was bland and flavorless, spiced Mild. It was ordered Medium Hot as was the Sunday Chicken Biryani which was correctly Medium Hot. I asked that my sentiments be passed on the the Chef. I received no offer of correction of my order nor another menu item. A very disappointing $30 meal + tip. The server was polite, but not at all helpful. Enough said.

Yelp
I thought it was pretty good. I got carry out, but the decor inside was nice. Not a huge indian food eater and not haven eaten many places, the guy inside was extremely helpful in discussing the dishes, and explained pretty much everything on the menu. So I got the most popular dish, the Chicken Tikka Marsala. It was pretty good and the amount of Naan you get is pretty large. I thought everything was spiced well, and I'm always afraid of food from this region being too strong in one spice or another. However, I didn't get that from anything I ate, and despite all that, it was flavorful! I got quite a bit of chicken in my dish. The only downside is that most items on their menu I wish would just be a little less expensive. I paid $13 for me for carry out for an entree only, which for a quick meal, is a little too expensive. While I did get enough food to fill me up for a night, generally at that price, I can go to another place and get enough for dinner and lunch the next day. This is probably really a detriment since literally two doors down, there is a Boston Market. It would be hard for me to choose this place over a place where I'm going to spend $5 less and still get enough food for the night. Overall though, good food and will probably go again at some point.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here for the first time this weekend through a Groupon deal and we came away impressed enough to want to go back again. The food was very good, the staff very helpful and friendly and the restaurant had a fresh-clean feel to it. The level of spice was just right for us, too. Royal Bengal is very worthy of at least a four-star rating and after a few more visits I'll update with another review. When we arrived around 7pm on Saturday there was only one other couple dining. By the time we left several other tables were filled and one table had repeat visitors. I'm usually a little skeptical when a restaurant isn't busy so I hope that their business picks up because I'd like to see this place stay around.

Yelp
We walked in the door at 8:15 and they close at 9 according to the hours posted on the wall; but we were constantly being rushed. I could tell they wanted to get out of there. Our server smelled like cigarettes and heavy cologne and forgot our appetizer. The food was average, the service was pretty sparse and our table cloth was dirty. I'm only giving it 2 stars because the can of coke they gave me was nice and cold. Go anywhere else, the nearby Del Taco for instance.
