Really, this was more of an "i'm close to the area and don't wanna drive far" visit, when I paid Royal Caribbean Bakery a stop for lunch, but I noticed a few things when I parked my car. The first thing is there was a lot of car traffic, most centered around Royal Caribbean!
The second thing I noticed is the smell that filled the entire parking lot. Their front door seems to be open just because it's hot and stuffy inside, but really, that's some good free marketing too if you just follow your nose.
Royal Caribbean isn't a large store. They've got a few tables for you to sit and eat, a small menu, and they do sell lots of freshly baked items, juices, and such.
Today I got their small lunch Curry chicken ($7.50), a beef patty ($1.70) and a spinach patty ($1.80). I don't know what's small about this because it was a decent sized dish that filled me up. With the chicken came 5 chicken pieces, your choice of rice and peas or white rice (I got rice and peas) and your choice of plantains, steamed veggies or cabbage. I got plantains.
The flavor of the curry sauce was great, and I thought it wasn't going to be good because it wasn't cook to order. They scoop it right out of their cafeteria style display, but man it was really good, had a slow burn to it, and no bone fragments in the sauce or rice! Plantains were nicely cooked, not mushy and sweet. Rice and peas were also good, and went well with the leftover sauce. If you're extra hungry and want the large order, it'll costs you $9
The patties were nice! Their beef pattie was soft, flavorful and weren't all that small, so for the price, you get your money's worth. The spinach pie is completely filled with spinach, and also had a very light slow burn in terms of spice, but if you don't like things spicy this isn't a problem for you either. Flavors were great with the spinach patty too, and while it's slightly smaller than the other patties, and a dime more expensive, it's worth giving a shot. I'll definitely be back to try more.
Located in the Rockmore Plaza off of Memorial drive and Rockbridge road, there's plenty of parking here in this lot shared by multiple little restaurants and shops. There is a red light exit onto rockbridge road, but multiple exits onto memorial drive too. If you want to go to the left, towards I-285, you'll have to take rockbridge road, or make a u-turn at the nearest break in the Memorial drive median.
Probably one of my favorite locations in this plaza, i'm 100% coming back to try their other meals, their patties, and at least a couple of their juices/drinks they have on display. Good good food, and good people.
Worth checking out!
