"This Metairie standby on Vets offers traditional and not when it comes to dumplings, all tasty. Try Royal China’s dragon dumplings — their version of the soup dumpling that is best eaten with happy caution. You don’t see fried chicken dumplings everywhere, and these are good. Same for the traditional pork spiked with plenty of ginger, pan fried for sure." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

I ordered the Mandarin Chicken which came with a generous portion, definitely enough for two people. It comes with white meat but was a little dry for my taste. The low lit dining room was cozy and had background music. The pictures on the wall, the tables, and accessories are nicely done.

Has been in NOLA for over 15 years, first time trying the dishes here. I am amazed by the dishes, especially paper shrimp. Taste so good, so fresh! Definitely worth the money.

Blessed that the storm called Hurricane Barry in New Orleans ended up a non-event, we headed out for a Saturday night dinner. Very few places were open, but an old favorite, Royal China, was indeed open. When we walked in, the room was nearly full, and there were people waiting on takeout. Ms Shirley took us to a table, and we perused the menu. A young gent took our drink orders, and It was a good night to eliminate stress with a large hot sake. We ordered a series of appetizers, but with a bread shortage, shrimp toast was out, but shrimp rolls, paper shrimp, and coconut shrimp were in. All were excellent. We ordered the house combo fried rice, with plenty of shrimp, pork and chicken. We also ordered one entree for each of us, knowing there was going to be a fine leftovers dinner by Tuesday. I ordered Seafood in a Nest,Chinese vegetables stir-fried with jumbo shrimps, scallops and pecans in a mild sauce. Tasty with lovely presentation. My son ordered Hawaii Delight, Fresh jumbo shrimp, beef, chicken sauteed with fresh pineapple and vegetables. His "nest" was half a pineapple. Wife got her favorite, boneless fried chicken. We had enough space for a couple of almond cookies and fortune cookies. What made this special is how Ms Shirley and the young man handled the front desk and the entire room with grace and efficiency. I am unsure how many folks were manning the kitchen, but the taste, serving, and presentation was special especially given the worker shortage.

Food was good. Fresh, hot, and quick. Pricing is on the higher side. Egg rolls are homemade, and contain cinnamon. That's where it ends. Drinks were in a can. Waitress took our order and literally never came back. Kitchen staff delivered the food. We got our own plates, silverware, and to go boxes. Only 5 tables of customers in the restaurant, but focus was definately on take out orders. She dropped my lemon on the table and never returned with another. *****not wheelchair or stroller friendly. A wheelchair would not fit through the bathroom door and would be very difficult to maneuver through the parking lot to the ramp***

This our new spot for Chinese. The food is great and large portions. We love the dim sum menu, and the staff is so friendly. The owner will even sit and have a conversation with the regulars.

I only have praise for this place. I had the pecan seafood which was absolutely delicious. We also got chicken wings and crab meat shiu mai as appetizers. This place is easy on the eyes too with the way it is decorated and the music played there is very soothing. The service was excellent as well.

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in the greater New Orleans area if not Louisiana. I’ve been coming for years and I’ve recommended a visit to dozens of friends. The staff and owner have always been so gracious, giving, and so friendly. In the midst of a super busy time they’ve always been accommodating and treated me well! All that to say the food far exceeds any Chinese you’ll find in any major city in the USA. The menu includes classics Chinese American dishes but also a huge selection of Dim Sum. I can’t recommend Royal China enough!!!

I’ve passed here a 100 times in the last 6 months and never noticed this establishment- what a shame. Made it in tonight after my wife saw an article about the owners selling posted on Facebook. We had the Boneless Fried Chicken, Szechwan Shrimp, and Shrimp Fried Rice after egg rolls for a starter for the 3 of us. What a wonderful meal it was - fresh and hot, served in under 10 minutes and super tasty - best Chinese in MetaIrie so far!! Very friendly staff rounded the night out!
