If you're craving authentic Chinese cuisine that hits all the right flavor notes, Royal Feast is the place to be. This hidden gem serves up dishes that transport your taste buds straight to China with every bite. The Spicy Sour Fish Noodle Soup is an absolute must-try. The broth is a perfect balance of tangy and spicy, with just the right kick to keep you coming back for more. The fish is tender and fresh, and the noodles soak up the rich flavors beautifully, making every spoonful a delight. Another standout dish is the Sweet Tomato Eggs with Crab. This comforting classic is elevated with the addition of fresh crab meat, which adds a layer of sweetness and richness to the dish. The combination of soft scrambled eggs, juicy tomatoes, and delicate crab is a masterclass in simplicity and flavor. For meat lovers, the Fried Spicy Ram Meat is a showstopper. Expertly stir-fried with a medley of spices, the ram meat is tender yet flavorful, with a smoky, savory heat that lingers deliciously. It's the perfect dish to pair with steamed rice or just enjoy on its own. Royal Feast excels in presenting authentic Chinese flavors while maintaining a balance that caters to diverse palates. The portions are generous, the service attentive, and the ambiance warm and inviting. Whether you're in the mood for something spicy, savory, or comfortingly sweet, this restaurant delivers every time. Highly recommended!

Avoid the abalone (canned flavor is a little off) but a lot of their other dishes were super authentic and tasty. The live sea bass and beef noodle soup didn't disappoint.

Google
It’s a typical Chinese restaurant greasy spoon older style with 10 banquet tables Food was excellent We had lunch special $10! Unbelievable! Very limited lunch special menu. Maybe 20 choices served in house with soup and rice The soup starter was simple thin broth with tomato and egg and sesame oil The Mongolian beef was excellent 4.5 stars really yummy sauce. Super spicy and I usually order super spicy. Caution The kung pao chicken was 4 stars. I love ginger. But this came out more as ginger chicken than kung pao. (Mind you I love ginger chicken but it didn’t meld as spectacularly as expected still decent. Super super spicy caution. I usually eat super spicy. But I still had to remove half of the peppers

The waiters did not even bat an eye on us when we entered. We waited for minutes to even get seated. It seems that they took forever to make any food and the dessert, which was roasted sweet potatoes with caramel, took too long to make and was overcooked, clearly tasting burnt. We also had a vegan friend who could taste meat in the dishes that were supposed to be vegan, including the dessert. Very disappointing. The table was too small. It seemed they took a table for two and just added chairs on each side. We had two people sit side by side and it seemed cramped.

January 2024: Heard rave reviews on the Peking Duck 🦆. Came here specifically to try the duck. I give five stars ✨ for the duck. They served the duck in three separate dishes: crispy skin with hoisin sauce and thin wrappers, a delicious soup, and a stir fry with the boney pieces. I thought it was a very creative way to use every bit of the duck. The soup tasted rich! The stir fry was not my favorite but was still nice to make a dish with the remaining duck parts. Also ordered a whole bass, two different noodles and veggies. I would definitely come back again for more delicious food. There were a lot of other items from the menu that looked good!

Google
Surprisingly delicate flavours and delicious food. Some of the best Chinese I’ve had in the Bay Area. Don’t let the decor, location or vibe put you off. Hidden in this suburban Chinese restaurant is some amazing food. Well worth a visit. Service was good, attentive without being involved. Dishes are very generous. Best is to bring some people and order a few things.

This was a great experience with real Chinese food. The hostess was super helpful and showed me how to roll the duck in the pancake. So attentive, kind. Fresh food. Not busy

Yelp
If Royal Feast was on the other side of El Camino or on Broadway, it would be packed with people. Food is consistent and delicious and the service is friendly. Prices are excellent for the quality and the servings are generous. You must try the Chong Qing fried chicken. The scallion pancakes come with a delicious eggplant garlic sauce reminiscent of baba ganoush, sooo good. The dumplings are super juicy, I recommend the pork and chive variety. I'm not sure, but I think they source their dumplings from Dumpling Empire. The tripe with cilantro is a favorite, the dry fried string bean is killer, and our kids love the (very) sweet and sour squirrel fish. I kind of wish the menu was more limited so the chef could focus on their strengths. I have had some dishes that missed the mark including the Couple's Delight and Jia Zia Mein. The Couple's Delight is particularly disappointing since it's mostly beef shank, with barely any tripe and no tendon at all. If you happen to be there for lunch on the weekend, they have a special menu with Northern style street foods like Chinese "burgers," tasty meats sandwiched in a flaky bun kind of like a gordita. Very good, small plates, really nice for families with kids. On weekdays they have lunch specials with entree, rice, and soup for $10-11. You cannot get a quality lunch for less in the area. It's a must try. If you like the food at Little Chengdu or Wonderful, you owe it to yourself to check out Royal Feast.

Yelp
We might have ordered the wrong dish, but we weren't impressed with what we got. It also seems like the Yelp reservation system isn't very reliable, when we arrived, the server seemed confused but seated us anyway. The place is small, but we were seated comfortably. Overall, 3 stars. Only dish I can really talk about would be Fish Fillet with Garlic and Eggplant Clay Pot Good, nothing special but it's not bad at all.

Yelp
Our multi generation family came for lunch recently. We pre-ordered the 2 ducks for the 2 tables reserved. Parking was fairly easy before noon, restaurant is relatively spacious, ambiance is ok, nothing fancy. In addition to the ducks we ordered many dishes to share, we asked to make everything non-spicy but somehow the message didn't reach the chef... The best dishes were clearly the ducks, crispy skin with lots of moist meat that everyone enjoyed, the duck bone soup was also quite tasty. Other favorites were sauteed shrimp with napa cabbage, pork belly, crispy pork, kids ate mostly the fried noodles and dumplings. Kong pao chicken, cumin lamb were too spicy we had to take them to go. The many northern Chinese noodle dishes were decent but didn't stand out for me ie dumplings, beef roll, pork pie, chilli oil wonton, beef noodle, cold noodles and etc. other stirfried meat and vegetable dishes were pretty good. Our total for 18 people after 18% gratuity came to $650 which is not bad compared to many other places these days. Service was pleasant. Overall most of us were happy with the meal, will be back for the duck and explore other dishes.

Yelp
Amazing Dungeness crab! The duck was a little disappointing - the skins were thin and great but the duck was a little hard and overcooked. For an extra $5, they will give you duck soup with your duck. Also BYOB. Conveniently located near the SFO airport.

Yelp
Went for Weekday Lunch Special Food - 4/5. Soup had a light broth, fortified by the silky eggs and hints of sourness from the tomatoes. Twice cooked pork had good sear with a nice aroma of scallions and peppers. It had a lot of douchi, which helped season the dish, but the copious amount made it a little too salty. Rice was fluffy and helped balance out the strong flavors of the pork. Service - 4/5. Service was quick and available. They didn't bring out any tea at first, but when asked, responded fast. Value - 5/5. These days $10 for lunch in the area is a rare find. The food quality was good and the portions were fitting for the price. They have a varied selection, and most of their options sticks to the $10 price point. Good value! Parking - Street (Free)

Yelp
My friend and I came here for an early dinner. We found this place because it had decent reviews. I knew this place was going to be good because locals started flooding in later. The customer service was good and the inside was pretty nice. It felt nostalgic like a little kid going to other Chinese restaurants. Well the FOOD was HELLA good! I think the star of the show was the soup, it hit the spot. Hella comforting. If you're in the area you should come here.

Yelp
Long overdue review for Royal Feast. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food, this place is for you! A chef of mine recommended this spot to us for a gathering. The food is definitely made for sharing (family style). Service was fast! We ordered a lot of dishes that I may have forgotten the name of some of the dishes... it's just in my photo album and I need to post it. From looking at my pictures, I enjoyed the salted egg yolk shrimp, spicy sliced beef, abalone soup with quail eggs, greens with century egg soup, Peking duck, sweet and sour fried fish. Ambiance is kinda but it's a very welcoming environment. Many of us enjoyed the food so no complaints here!

Yelp
They need to relocate!! I would go there many more times if they were just on the other side of el camino or around broadway somewhere. I love their shredded Pork and everything from the lunch specials. And the customer service is suprisingly great for a chinese restaurant.

Yelp
Went to visit my uncle at a Nursing home nearby and he wanted some good Won Ton Soup. Thank goodness for Royal Feast - they definitely satisfied his craving.

Yelp
Great food, nice people! Came on the late side of a Sunday with my teens. They were a bit quiet and s service was very swift and accommodating. My kids are not very adventurous diners so we stuck to some basics but everything was delicious, serves promptly (and piping hot/fresh). We particularly enjoyed the spicy chicken in a basket, and crisp fried mixed noodle, as well as chicken egg-drop soup. Fried green beans had a nice crunch and great flavour without being overcooked/tough (not easy). Definitely will return! Edit - added video of carmelized banana dessert

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. I've been coming here for years with my family and they have never once let us down. The chef is renowned in China for his cooking and has brought his talents locally to us. Typically we have a traditional taste; though the Kung pao chicken is incredibly tasty. The lamb and cold apps tend to be our staples. Overall, food is really splendid as we spend most special occasions here. The staff has always been friendly. The building is relatively old but it adds to the experience. Again, if you like spicy food and Chinese food, this place is the hot spot.

Yelp
A regular spot for my family and me to come out to at least once a month! My family and I always start out with the couples delight (beef tripe with beef slices in numbing chili oil) and cucumber salad (kind of a vinegar-like sauce). The couples delight is spicy and the cucumber salad is refreshing! We also always order the cumin lamb and it's probably our favorite dish here. Not too spicy but good flavor. A new favorite for us is the sweet and sour crispy pork. It's a good dish for people who don't want something spicy. My personal favorite dish is the pickled veggie clay pot. It has pickled veggies and your choice of protein, which we usually opt for beef. It has vermicelli noodles and I just think it has great flavor & it's like a whole meal since it has carbs, veggies, and protein! Food here always comes out really fast and the people that work here are really kind. The restaurant itself doesn't really get too busy which is nice because it doesn't get too loud. Overall, this is a great place for Chinese food. They have great Szechuan flavors and I never leave dissatisfied.

Yelp
A solid 3 star restaurant that could be so much more with a renovation. Nine of us came here for dinner on a Friday night. It was pretty empty at 7:30pm. The dining room is a bit dated and is in need of an uplift. The wall fan/air conditioning unit was humming so loudly that someone in my dining party had to ask the server to turn it off. Street parking is available, but can be challenging since the restaurant is on El Camino Real. Now let's get to the most important part of the review, the food! Food was above average and tasty. We liked everything we ordered. The scallion pancake was really good, but tasted a bit gamey as it was probably deep fried in the same oil they used to fry lamb dishes. We ordered the following and would order them all again if we come back. Peking duck - requires advanced reservation (a few hours ahead is sufficient) - the duck comes prepared three ways: peking duck with pancakes, in soup and fried bones cooked in a bean sauce Scallion pancake Chong Qing crispy spicy chicken - bone-in or boneless option (we ordered boneless), but will opt for bone-in next time Beef roll Pork chives dumpling Mapo tofu (their dish is made with minced beef rather than the traditional minced pork) Shredded pork in garlic sauce Sweet & sour crispy pork Dry fried string bean Kung pao chicken Service was average, what you expect from a Chinese restaurant. Servers weren't too friendly but got the job done. We brought our own wine as the corkage fee is only $10 a bottle.

Yelp
I loved the Cumin Lamb and spring rolls. The lamb had the perfect amount of spice and flavor and the spring rolls were crispy and delicious. I would have enjoyed if the spring rolls were slightly larger. The service and ambiance are on par with other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Underrated Chinese cuisine place in Burlingame! I saw this place on google and wanted to give it a try since my friend wanted to try the Peking Duck. We ordered a couple of dishes and all of it was amazing! I really enjoyed the Chongqing Crispy Fried Chicken, Sauteed pea spouts, Szechuan-Style Soy Sauce Fried Rice. It was full of flavor and good portion for the price. Recommend coming to this place with family and friends. Also, they are known for their lobster and crab! However, I wish the service was a little better, the staff wasn't as attentive so we had to wait for a while before ordering and paying for it!

Matt B.

Yelp
If you're looking for excellent Szechwan food, go to Millbrae and hit the Royal Feast on El Camino. This place is top shelf high line Asian cuisine. Not only are their plates incredibly delicious, the presentation and serving size will floor you. You can order your dishes as hot as you want, and the quality of the ingredients are excellent. I recommend the Mapo Tofu and the chili chicken. They both have the perfect amount of Szechuan pepper in them that wakes up the flavor of the ingredients and leaves your mouth slightly numb. Their garlic, eggplant and spicy string beans are also fantastic!

Yelp
Ordered delivery couple times. Soup was decent I like it until found a suspicious looking hair last week in it and I thought maybe pet hair or something and ignored it. Today ordered again found this hair again which raising some attention. I called restaurant directly since I'm not trying to ask for refund I just want them to know. The lady who spoke on phone was rude and said immediately I got problem and don't order again. I didn't even show them the picture yet.

Gina D.

Yelp
Food was good; BUT we came in for lunch & was surprised to be automatically charged 18% gratuity for a party of 3. AND they even charged the gratuity after the tax.
google avatar

Yelp
Been coming here for years and wow the food HITS. Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant. Some staples: couples delight, braised pork belly, Napa cabbage with chestnuts, chongqing crispy fried chicken, Szechuan style hot & spicy fish fillet, and the Peking duck (though you have to call ahead for this). Honestly, you can't go wrong with this place! I always crave the food from here!

Yelp
Came here for a $10 Lunch Special after my meeting in Milbrae. Tasty Tomato Egg Soup + Beef & Broccoli and Rice for $10! Great taste, value, and deal! Friendly service for a Chinese restaurant (iykyk), Authentic Chinese vibes with red lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Tasty restaurant for lunch! Definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
The beef was flavorful but a little tough. The chicken was crispy and not too spicy as we asked for mild.

Yelp
Came here for Saturday lunch and was surprised to find it pretty empty except for one other table, especially given that it's gotten a decent amount of English press over the years (including a Chronicle article). The highlight was probably the duck blood vermicelli soup, which is hard to find. The rendition here was actually pretty tasty and authentic. Royal signature pork feet jelly I didn't love - I found it a bit liquidy at parts. Couple's delight was also not the best rendition I've had. The beef pancake roll was tasty, but again nothing standout. Deep fried lamb leg was pretty tasty, tender flavorful meat. Lamb with scallions was tender but way too oily for me. The space feels dated and a bit depressing - sure most Chinese restaurants aren't that nice, but even compared to other ones in the area, this one still felt dated.

Luke Joseph S.

Yelp
Food was okay, ordered pork fried rice and dumpling. It was difficult to get the lady's attention, as she was on the phone the whole time. . Royal Feast definitely needs to be brought into 21st century for decor.

Yelp
A friend was raving about this place and we were visiting a new mama stuck at home with her baby and decided to give this place a try. WE KNOW. TAKE OUT is hit or miss. but thought it would be okay. Peking duck - no longer need 48 hours in advance. We ordered right when they opened at 11am on a Saturday. this was good. great even maybe. very juicy and meaty. the duck soup they made was rich and umami. cleansed your soul albeit a little oily. lol I only had a bite or two of the stirfry they did with the rest of the "meat/bones". that was meh. shrimp in creamy sauce - ??? I still don't know what this was suppose to be. photos had shown it with strawberries and describing it as dessert. but we pretty much got...honey prawns? I mean it was really tasty. lol pork belly in garlic sauce - oh boy, not sure what I was expecting, but this was oily and HEAVYYYY raw garlic as heck. not for the weak. tomato egg and noodle - this was okay. they didn't rinse the noodles after boiling so it was a clump when packaged. but alright flavor. we wanted to try this "squirrel fish" dish but they didn't have the right fish so we got a fish fillet and eggplant dish that was not bad. decent. overall, solid Chinese food but just not quite what I was expecting? I'd only really go back for the Peking duck. oh and make sure you don't park in that little lot next to it, the owners will scold you in mandarin. even if you're there for a quick pick up. YIKES lol sorry!
google avatar

Yelp
Really good food! Most of their dishes are spicy but there are a few non spicy items (fried rice, chow mein, etc.) The service was very good and we had a big party so we got to try a lot of food on the menu. We ordered couple's delight (really spicy!), pork dumplings, mapo tofu (really good), cumin lamb, string beans, dan dan noodles and a few other dishes.

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Excellent spicy food for a decent price. My go to p,ace for a family takeout meal. I recommend the oxtail.
google avatar

Ronny T.

Yelp
This place was featured on an episode of of Check Please, Bay Area so we had to try when we were in the area. What brought me in was the spicy prawns and scallops. Looked so good on TV. I didn't think the actual dish looked quite as good. The prawns and scallops just weren't as prominent in the actual dish. It was still pretty good and quite spicy. I actually like our other two dishes better. The dry sautéed string beans were cooked just right and the crab meat fried rice hit the spot. Portions were generous so we took some home. Their specialty is the Peking Duck but you have to order that at least a day ahead and it's meant to eat with a bigger party. The service was very good - attentive, helpful, and friendly.
google avatar

Doris L.

Yelp
The food here is phenomenal and is my "go to" for Northern Chinese food! Give their Dim Sum brunch on weekends a try too, if you haven't had a chance, also.

Janice N.

Yelp
Food was good as usual however the service sucked. Didn't even offer water or forks. Really left a bad taste. Such a Shame since the food is amazing. Don't think I will come back.

Sarah M.

Yelp
We came for lunch and ordered very basic food : noodles and dumplings. Sad to say, the food was not fresh. Not only that, they were not appealing too. Although we were so hungry, yet we just tried a mouth full and left everything there. That was our first time to try Royal Feast and and it will also be our last time.

priscilla f.

Yelp
Very good Peking duck! Duck skin was thin, crispy, and not too fatty. The crepes were delightfully paper thin. Loved that it came with the duck soup and stir fried neck and drumsticks. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Good portion and taste for lunch special. Nice staff members. And easy to park in the nack

Angie M.

Yelp
Driving by on way to airport. Very good lunch special for $10. Grilled chicken, white rice, 2 eggrolls salad and tasty soup. Authentic food.

Terri N.

Yelp
This was our first time to try this restaurant and we were completely disappointed. Most of the dishes came with the same sauce - something dark and gooey (cornstarch and sugar). Nothing was fresh. The dumplings were horrible. We have been to dozens of Chinese restaurants and none is this bad. The meat in the dumpling looked so stale. The noodles were mushy. I wouldn't return even if the food is free.

Patricia K.

Yelp
i ordered kung pao shrimp with rice to go. when i opened the container at home i was shocked. the entire container was rice with about 3 tablespoons of kaung pao shrimp . i will never return to royal feast. in my opinion i was robbed. if you order food to go please check your order prior to leaving.

Reyna O.

Yelp
I've ordered Door Dash out of Royal Feast and really enjoyed it, so we finally decided to stop by and dine in person. We were not disappointed! The servers are really attentive, and even though we showed up once 10 minutes before the kitchen closed, we never felt rushed. We've tried a few different dishes and havent' had a miss yet. Some of our favorites include the Couple's Delight, Chongquing chrispy fried chicken, and the Mapo Tofu. The beef brisket in spicy numbing soup rice noodles are also really good. The Szechuan fried rice is also some of the best fried rice we've had. They manage to create a crisp on all the meat for both their fried rices and their chow meins. We're still making our way through their menu, but this has def become our go-to dinner spot.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
This is for the lunch special. It hits all my marks for a good lunch special. The price is great and it comes with all the typical stuff including yeah where they give you a whole pot to pour yourself which I always like. My first time here but I'll be back
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
The food is SO GOOD! We ordered the Peking Duck and it came with your standard Peking duck, but also soup, and extra duck cooked with vegetables. We also ordered the eggplant and fish filet. Everything is exceptional.
google avatar

Susan L.

Yelp
Awesome Peking duck ! Had to reserve order , it was worth it ! 3 Course Peking duck , after slicing , they will put the extra meat/bone in a broth with mushroom soup , 2nd extras meat was stir fried ! Soooo much , we wasn't able to eat it all ! For sure we're coming back !
google avatar

Yelp
We used to come here a lot pre-pandemic. We love their Peking duck 3 ways. This review is for a more recent experience. We've been ordering take-out quite a bit during pandemic. But the last time we ordered from Royal Feast, the food was not very good. It's not appealing to the eye nor stomach. Was very disappointed. What we ordered: Royal Signature Pork Feet Jelly - not a fan at all. It tasted so weird. Cumin Lamb - so so Sauteed Shredded Potato with Vinegar - it's just ok Sauteed Shrimp with Egg and Napa Cabbage - this was the only dish we loved
google avatar

Geri S.

Yelp
Sunday at 11:15 am served rice that is cold and hard like yesterday's rice - we did not eat it. Chef Liu Zongyi, not your usual standards. I am disappointed.

Yelp
AFTER reading this article. I had to give RF a review. They have decently priced lunch specials 9.99-10.98. And they accept cash or card. I have had two different cashier/waiters this week that served me briskly and well. Walking back, i walked into Wonderful where i was well posted that cash was not accepted. Reminding me that last decade cash only for street retail was illegal, only one restaurant I was turned down, while others, I paid the manager or supervisor cash for the meal and he did the wechat or alipay transaction. food is great for the price; and the two times I went there were take out, which was done briskly & served me cold water while i waited for the take out.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Despite the old look of the interior, this is a great restaurant! My family made a last minute Friday night reservation for a party of 6 and we were well attended to the entire night. Service was very strong and food came out hot. Our favorite dishes from the night included the fish fillet and eggplant clay pot, Peking duck, and stir fried string beans. However, every dish served was delicious. The menu is not the most extensive and is a good balance of Chinese-American and authentic Chinese dishes. I really do recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I've dined here a half dozen times over maybe 6 years, always wonderful. Most recently in Feb '23, before that in Nov '22. In Nov '22, we were warmly greeted by the chef, to whom we returned that warmth. in Feb '23, that chef was not around, and our reception was cool, perhaps because we aging Anglos arrived trailing lunch hour to avoid COVID issues. I've loved every meal and everything I've ordered from this restaurant -- Royal Feast is the thing I missed most during the pandemic, so I was disappointed by that cool reception. I love the Cumin Lamb (worth driving MANY hours), and the Szechuan Style Hot & Spicy Fish Fillet. My wife, who doesn't dig spicy, loves Shrimp/Egg Napa Cabbage. There are many other things on the menu I'd love to try and that she would enjoy). The Chongquing crispy fried chicken is great, but DON'T take the dark meat option, which is chopped wings, more moist, but a PITA to eat. Tried to order the Fish fillet with garlic and eggplant Clay Pot, but it had to be ordered in advance. I've also enjoyed Hot and spicy shrimp with scallop, roasted fish with spicy numbing sauce. Let's hope the chef returns and attitudes improve. We WILL return when it fits our schedule -- we live almost 2 hours away, so schedule visits with appointments in the area. This restaurant is too good to let die -- GO!

Yelp
Food is great. The servings are large and flavorful. My friend and I had the shrimp fried rice, dry fried string beans, pork dumplings, and spicy crispy chicken. There were plenty of leftovers. It's a fairly small restaurant, but there are a few large tables for groups.

D Y.

Yelp
Love royal feast. The flavors from this place is just pure goodness and always a hit for my Szechuan cravings. Avid foodies might say don't order fried rice because it's usually nothing special but the special Szechuan fried rice is sooo worth it especially when you are craving a rice dish. The flavor and the amount of meat (beef, chicken, shrimp) is top notch. I always order the chongqing fried chicken boneless from this place. And I always order it with extra chicken - half order more. Because it's that good. If I order royal feast I will always order this dish. This is my first time ordering steamed fish with pepper on top, this dish also had some tofu in it. Flavors were great, it had a slight sour spicy to it, a bit different from the usual fish dish im used to from this place. Overall royal feast is my go to Szechuan place. If I crave Szechuan I'll always go for royal feast.

Yelp
Delicious Peking duck paired with the thin steamed pancakes! I love a good Chinese dinner with the pea sprouts, various meat dishes and classic noodles or rice for carbs. There was a tad wait when waiting for a meals to come out but it was noticeably busy for take out orders and at least we know it was made to order. A must try family style for Chinese cuisine in Millbrae.

Yelp
Food was awful so greasy and not good. Service was so poor and communication was not good. All three dishes were so disappointing

Yelp
I've thought about whether or not I wanted to post this review for the last 9 days because to me leaving a bad review is a big deal and is permanent. However, the food we got was so bad AND it was my birthday AND the review on "Check Please" was so good AND did I mention, it was my birthday, a milestone one AND I was sick to my stomach after eating there. Yeah, it was really bad. Let's start at the beginning; Royal Feast is located in a sketchy neighborhood, it seemed extra sketchy the night we went there. They cannot control that but once inside they could spice things up a bit, seriously, the place needs a good cleaning and some updating. Having said this, I feel like I am delaying the inevitable discussion of the food. I had pre ordered Peking Duck, after all, it was my birthday. According to the reviewer on "Check Please" this was supposed to be fantastic. Their version is the classic, served 3 ways. With the breast meat on a platter and broth and the chopped remaining meat stir fried. The presentation initially looked good, then the broth and the remaining meat was served. The best I can surmise is that the duck was old and the fat became rancid. The taste and more so the smell of the broth was overwhelming bad, like nothing I have ever tasted before. At first the breast meat seemed ok until we had several pieces and then realized that it was very off. I sat there trying very hard to be polite but I was feeling a little sick from the smell of the broth. The smell invaded everything and I struggled to seem happy, thinking that maybe it was not as bad and I was being overly sensitive. I shifted my focus onto my favorite noodle dish. I call them Dan-Dan Mein. On their menu they are called Tam-Tam Noodles. I put some on my plate and they seemed like there was a large amount of hot chili sauce on them. A large amount of chili is not even close to the situation, I took 2 small bites and my entire body was on fire. They were so overly spiced that they were completely inedible. Combined with the rancid duck, my system was sick for several days. The Fried Dried string beans were delicious. My birthday was absolutely ruined. This was the worst meal I have ever had in my life. The chef, who is very proud of his training and career should have smelled that duck in the kitchen and pulled it off the menu. There is no excuse for how awful the food was. Unfortunately, this review is more of a warning.
