I don't usually do two reviews but I felt I had to note today's service. The older gentleman meant well (I think) because he was very nice and joked with us but the service was not the best. He was not knowledgeable about the menu at all, which is one of my biggest pet peeves. I told him I'm Vegan and one, he apparently has no clue what that means (while working at an Indian Restaurant...) and two, didn't understand that I didn't want dairy in anything I ordered. Complicated, right? So it was quite the ordeal to place my order as you can imagine. I had also asked him what the rice dish that the table next to us ordered and if it was the one with the fruits, peas and nuts. He couldn't understand and said it was cauliflower, uh no. Then my mom's friend ordered the naan and he insisted we order another one and I said no thank you, it's made with yogurt and he was mindblown and didn't believe me. My mom got annoyed that I argued with him and was being a pain but seriously... so anyways, he ended up ordering the 9 vegetables (still trying to figure out what the 9 are, all I saw was green beans, peas, cauliflower, potatoes and carrots) for me in curry (off menu) since it was too confusing to order the one on the menu without cream. Can't sub. Nope, nope, nope. Same with the rice, can't sub, you have to order the whole dish (so I didn't). Anyways, my mom's friend ordered lamb and he made it too spicy and I ordered mine medium and it was definitely mild. He did bring out some chili sauce for me and a side of sliced almonds, whole almonds, 3 raisins and one cashew since I didn't get the rice I wanted. He did try to make it work but ordering was such a challenge. A big part of dining out is the whole experience, which if I were rating that, I'd never be back. At the end of our meal I ordered the Gulab Jamun for her since it was her birthday. I will say that I did like my dish overall, a little bland and very oily but still good. One other complaint is about the amount of food we for spending over $100. I'd rather come here for the lunch buffet if I lived closer.
Edit: forgot to mention the issue with my mom and my fiancé's drink order; first they had to remind him bc he forgot about it (he made a cute joke about memory so it was all good) but then when he poured my fiancé's beer, the glasss was full of sand that rose to the top with the foam. How gross! Makes me wonder if there's anything liKe that in the food. The waiter was accommodating thought and brought a new glass and a new beer. He even said that there was another glass in the back with the same issue. Strange....
