My family loves this place. We have been coming since 2010 and even though we no longer live close, it is our treat to come South and visit again. Betty has been an epic sever here since the first time we came. We always request her. When she’s off the others have been wonderful but we love her by now. The owner Robert always greets you with a smile. They care and the food is aaaaammmmaaazing! I can’t say enough of this place. Those one star reviews are sad. They must be competitors trying to sink a solid and delicious restaurant. It’s always been a five star place for us!!!

Google
First time here and really impressed! The service was friendly, and I had the lunch buffet—everything looked fresh and tasted delicious. The interior was clean, and the price was super affordable. I sat at a table facing the canal in the back, which made for a relaxing and scenic meal. Overall, a great experience with a nice vibe. I’d definitely come back!

Google
Royal India is very clean. Very nice. The appetizers were delicious chicken appetizer, and garlic naan, entrée I had butter chicken. It was delicious the rice was awesome. Elizabeth was our server. She was very pleasant and very attentive. It was rather busy in there tonight so we waited a little bit for the entrée but it was worth it. I will definitely repeat.!!

Google
This is a nice Indian restaurant. I stop in once in a while. The decorations are nice. Everything in here looks clean. I like the new table cloth used. The staff is very friendly and helpful here. I found out today that this restaurant offers a buffet for lunch. I am going to have to try it next time. I ordered the Butter Chicken. It wasn't good. It was tough and hard to cut, and shew. It had no flavor. The sauce did. I was a little disappointed. I think I should have gotten the buffet, lol. The rice was very good.

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. The food was half cooked, the appetizers were half cooked, after complaining they bought it again for the second time and that was uncooked too!! ordered three types of bread, the quality of breads was really bad- very thick and half cooked except the paratha. The curries were okay but almost dry with very little amount of gravy. Papads were really smelly like it was fried in bad oil. Didn’t even enjoy the desserts!!!

Google
First time trying Indian food and gotta tell ya, I loved it! The restaurant itself is big inside and out, very atmospheric, and very clean all around. Customer Service is polite, attentive, and just nice to talk to when they have a minute. The food is EXCELLENT. From the little appetizer I had to the Lamb Curry with Nan Bread and yellow rice, it was all scrumptious and worth wolfing down, especially at the ludicrously low prices I got it all at. Give this place a try, there is a reason it's been around so long, trust me on that! Edit: Added pictures of the inside and outside of Royal India, the menu, and the food I got!

Google
Food offerings are good. They have a smorgasbord in addition to a sit down menu. The food is awesome. The service is good. The atmosphere is casual. Enjoy your Indian food

Google
Amazing experience my daughter and I went to this restaurant today for the 1st time to try Indian food for the 1st time because she met a friend in high school that told her all about Indian cuisine... To our surprise the food was incredibly fresh you could tell it was made with organic, good ingredients and it was very tasty!!! Restaurant food is usually bad for me because of the high sodium, so whenever I go out to a restaurant immediately after eating my hands my feet get very swollen. However, although I ate lots of rice and lots of curry and lots of bread here at Royal India, my hands and my feet did not get swollen at all but the food was so tasty and yet was not high in salt. We got the Garlic Nan with red jam and mint spread, the vegetables fritters, Chicken Korma and Butter chicken... all of it was delicious!! And reasonable prices too!!

Yelp
2 in for dinner on a Sunday at 5:30. Not busy when we got there but busy when we left. Got our usual assortment of dishes. (see old reviews). As usual everything was very good. Had plenty to take home. Nice place and nice people. Will get back when I can.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for dinner last night after I picked him up from the airport. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and taken care of by a terrific staff. We got a beautiful table with a water view. The food was amazing. I love Indian food but I cannot handle too much heat- the spice level was perfect for me at very mild. (It's ok laugh if you need to)My husband had Butter Chicken and I had Lamb Biryani both were delicious. They serve big portions so we are looking forward to our leftovers. I even tried Indian Beer it was the perfect beverage. Can't wait to go back.

Tina Y.

Yelp
We drive past this place all the time and finally decided to give it a try since we were craving Indian. The food, service and ambiance was so lovely! The food was amazing. We tried the butter chicken and chicken Buna. Both delicious. My kids liked their food too! Will definitely be back. It's a huge space and backs up to the intercoastal.

Nafeeza A.

Yelp
Very nice indian restaurant, a little hard to find if you haven't been there before as you have to make a u turn to get in the plaza. Inside is nice simple decor with a lot of Indian enhancements. As a brown background I was pleased to see the culture incorporated. The restaurant did have a variety of different backgrounds having dinner which I loved. Menu offers a variety of dishes, some of the breads that I loved were the garlic Naan and the aloo paratha. Aloo means potato so it's like a potato stuffed roti but more indian than carribean version. If your looking for a safe dish to try, I would look into samosa, butter chicken or a shrimp curry. WE tried the lamb boti masala and the only issue we had was they forgot to make it and it took so long to come out. We sat watching our party of 10 people all eat there food and we were just waiting hungry. The staff did apologize amd took care of it and I appreciated that. We ordered it medium spice but I think they forgot but it was okay because they can give you a side of pepper sauce so you can make your own spice level. The flavors were all on point of alla dishes. Everyone enjoyed everything!

Yelp
This restaurant has been around since my family and I moved to Broward County in 1995. We have tried it a few times over the years but were never bowled over. A vegetarian friend told me about the buffet lunch, and so we decided to try the eatery yet again. The atmosphere has improved with a new enclosed outside area with a bit of a water view. Too bad the waterway is strewn with rubbish and you are looking into the backyards of unkempt houses. It also would help if the AC in that dining area was turned on (up?). Service is very good with water glasses constantly being refilled and servers inquiring if there is anything else needed. The buffet was simple with a salad bar, rice, boiled mini potatoes, a mixed veggie dish, lentils, chicken masala, lamb sag (with hardly any lamb), tandoori chicken, and naan. The masala was the more seasoned of all the dishes and it paired well with the mini potatoes. All the others needed a little more spice (even just a little black pepper would have enhanced the taste). For dessert there was rice pudding, Indian cheese balls in syrup, and fresh fruit. The place probably seats about 50 people and there were about 35 in the dining room during our visit. (And some diners eat there often, because we heard them talking about it.) The fact that there is a small variety, and we can choose the spiciest dish and top it off with some naan and cheese balls, means that we would eat here again. For $13.95 per person, it's a great deal.

Yelp
First time having Indian food so I really can't compare but my Butter Chicken was tasty. I had the mild sauce so I'm nobody to ask but again it was tasty. Meal came with yellow rice and we had a nice piece of Roti to dip into. Nicely decorated and the staff was friendly.

Arielle S.

Yelp
I've been coming here for almost 20 years. It has absolutely stayed consistent. The service is always great and the food is even better. Really nice inside decor.

Chris R.

Yelp
WTF this is the worst curry i have ever had....! Stay well away from this awful place. Granted the Food looked amazing, then we tasted it. it was cooked with the wrong oils and didn't taste like curry! Like eating mexican food with some curry sauce mixed in.

Wendy P.

Yelp
This restaurant is undeniably amazing across the board; consistently delicious food, decor vibe makes you feel transported without being overdone, and the staff are friendly and attentive! We typically order ala carte, but the buffet is a great way for new patrons to start a menu exploration. I've been going here since I was a child and now it's a favorite of my own children. The owner, Robert Solomon is gracious and is steadfast in offering top quality food and experience. You can't go wrong dining at this restaurant.

Minaz M.

Yelp
Went here for lunch after getting off the royal Caribbean cruise.. there was a buffet with the following: Lamb saag Chicken curry Tandoori chicken Mixed veggie Naan Firni Fruits Salad Pickles Chicken soup

David S.

Yelp
If you are looking for a good Indian meal. Look elsewhere! Service is terrible we had to ask to be seated. We asked for a seat near the window that was clearly open. Young girl with big attitude stated the tables were reserved. It turned out they were reserved for 7pm. We entered the restaurant and 5:45pm. We explained we will be in and out before 7pm. She didn't get it and reluctantly sat us at our requested table. Food was bland and lacked the flavors of a great Indian Dish. Chicken was dry as though it was not fresh. I had Butter chicken and it was terrible. Watery sauce that basically tasted of simply coconut. Price of actual dishes I found expensive and quality and presentation simply lacked. Restaurant looks and feels old.

Leonard G.

Yelp
A long-standing legendary Indian food restaurant, that everybody should go to. Super authentic dishes, at least as far as I know, as I'm not of an Indian background , but of all the places I've been to this has been one of the best ones. I love the chicken dishes, the rice, and of course, the naan. Fantastic for date night, friends, family or a party.

Jacki P.

Yelp
I got sick after dining. Also service is so strange. They had like 7 servers, but all of them were just standing there. No interests to accommodate customers. Foods are seasoned horribly... please do not go there...

Alba G.

Yelp
I love that they have drink specials. I've never really been experienced in Indian food. So I was a bit nervous but excited to try it. I really loved the decorations in here. The server was such a doll. Super nice. I loved her so much! She was attentive and really sweet. I tried the chips it seemed like. It was interesting but I liked them. A friend of mine had the chicken tikka masala and it was actually better tasting than the butter chicken. I wasn't too much of a fan of the butter chicken. But I do appreciate the dish. Since this is so new to me. But I definitely enjoyed the naan bread. The rice actually did complement the butter chicken. So I had a pleasant new experience and will come here for a drink because I saw the drink specials and they're unbeatable!

Daniella S.

Yelp
Inexpensive buffet all you eat on the water style dining. Informal but clean and has cloth table coverings. Staff is lovely and food is simple and good. And plenty of it with extra nan. It's like going to someone's home for dinner. I believe you can order a la carte but the buffet price can not be beat. We went on a Sunday it was quiet and chill but had diners there who all seemed to be regulars. I'd go again next time I'm up the at way.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Came here last night with friends and had a lovely time. The menu has a lot of options and is reasonably priced. The drink options are also reasonably priced and made very well. They serve Taj Mahal beer which was a hit for half of our group. The food: super good. Our party ordered chicken korma, tikka masala, butter chicken and vindaloo. Not a single complaint. Spiced perfectly and they'll even bring you extra sauce (for a charge) if you ask for it. But it's great to take home and use later. They give out courtesy papadam with onion chutney, too. And the garlic naan is superb! We love coming to this place!

Kai W.

Yelp
The brunch here is amazing. I've been coming here for years and it NEVER disappoints. Just entering this restaurant awakens my sense of smell on a whole other level and seeing the buffet area is a natural high all by itself! :) I love this place! :)

Yelp
I recently dined at Royal India Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The exquisite blend of flavors in their Indian cuisine left me craving more. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring a delightful experience. The ambiance was charming, creating a perfect setting for an enjoyable meal. I highly recommend Royal India Restaurant for anyone seeking an authentic and delectable Indian dining experience. A definite 5-star gem!

P. A.

Yelp
The food is great! The service is excellent. The ambiance in the front room is fantastic. I have never had a vegetarian meal that wasn't good, even at the lunch buffet.

Brittany R.

Yelp
Amazing food! Amazing service! Food was phenomenal!!! Will recommend and return!! Side note- the food was so good, they had my picky 5 year old asking for more

Jenna S.

Yelp
We got takeout. We got chicken korma and butter chicken, and some garlic naan. I didn't even tell them that my husband's favorite chocolate is Andes mints... and they gave us about 15 of those. He was ecstatic! Of course it came with rice. Everything was delicious. Maybe sometime we will dine in, but the service was good either way. Thank you!

Natalie H.

Yelp
Service was great, everyone was very polite and all of the food was great! The only thing I was not a fan of was the mango dessert but that's just a personal preference thing. The ambiance in general felt very calm and I would go again.

Guttman S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in south Florida. I've been coming here for years and the food is always consistently amazing. The butter shrimp and butter chicken are my go tos. That and the garlic nan with the sauces. It's a nice quiet spot with a good atmosphere to bring friends, family, or a date night. The owner is also very nice. I've never had any issues in the years I've been a customer.

Kiran J.

Yelp
Food was cold stale and no taste at all. Pls do not go. Save yourself from eating this awful Indian food. Disgrace to Indian food.

Rhory G.

Yelp
I've been going to Royal India since 1991. Right there it tells you a lot about their food. I love the Chana Marsala with Poori bread as an appetizer. Take the Chana (chickpeas) and put in poori bread, add some onion (red) chutney and tamarin sauce. I could eat this as my meal but usually split with whomever I'm with. It's sooo good! Another great appetizer is vegetable or meat samosas. Then main course I go for lamb or chicken vindaloo with some naan bread. Also the tandoori chicken is a must. It comes in half or full order. I get the full and take home half. If you like mango's then get the mango lassie. Once you get one you'll always get when you come back which you will.

Lucy V.

Yelp
I have been driving past this place for years and we finally decided to make it one of our date nights. It opens up for dinner at 5pm, but we got there around 6pm on a Saturday and it was still pretty empty. By the time we left, it was completely packed! We got a great table in the corner right by the large windows that overlook the canal. We started with drinks and the Vegetable Appetizers while we looked over the menu...My husband ordered a Corona and I ordered a Mojito...he was really happy they brought it with a chilled Pilsner and my mojito was delicious! They also bring these thin crackers...I believe they are Papadum? with onion chutney. The veggie appetizer is a sampler of veg samosa, veg pakora and onion bhajia. All three are very good...we couldn't it it all so brought home quite a bit. For dinner I ordered the Tandoori Roti Bread, Mushroom Peas Masala, added chickpeas, and it came with the basmati rice. You can order this dish mild, medium or hot ..I went with medium, but next time I may try hot. I ended up ordering a side of the hot sauce which was hot...no joke... hot. Everything was absolutely delicious. My husband had the Lamb Vindaloo, which is spicy off the bat. He couldn't finish it, it was so spicy but he also really liked it. For dessert we had the Rice Pudding and Gulab Jamun...both were very good as well...I brought home a ton of leftovers...including one of the Gulab Jamun balls...which is basically a little ball of fried dough, sprinkled with rose water and soaked in a sweet honey glaze. So glad we tried this place! We will definitely be putting it on rotation for our date nights! Customer service was top notch and the prices were very very reasonable.

Ayaskant R.

Yelp
Never ate such bad food! Chicken was Under cooked, They forgot the Nan which tasted like tandoori roti. Tasteless. I dont know cooking but i am sure to cook better than what i got just by watching Youtube videos. Never ordering again.

Michael Y.

Yelp
The service was excellent throughout. The food was absolutely incredible with strong flavors and spices mixed with subtle yogurt notes and curry. I will definitely be going back.

Hollis C.

Yelp
Didn't feel like driving so ordered Uber Eats today. Wanted some Indian food and even though it's a little far the food is worth the wait. The food was excellent and arrived in a short amount of time. I had the curry chicken, veggie samosa and garlic naan. I asked for the curry to be Medium but it actually seemed mild. The curry was very flavorful and the chicken was tender. The veggie samosa was delicious and had a nice hard shell and soft inside, paired with the sauce it was amazing. If you are in the mood for some good Indian food, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.

Becca L.

Yelp
New roof, new bar, same good dishes. This restaurant is great for vegetarians, there are so many options. We've eaten our way through the masalas, curries and rice. Our go tos are the dal fry and aloo chloe with spice. Each dish whether dine in or take away comes with a big dish of rice. We also like to get the naan with nuts and raisins, it's a great sweet treat. In restaurant they opened a bar, and have margaritas for just $8! That's a great deal! This is our go to stuck in a cooking rut, place to go out to eat.

David A.

Yelp
An absolutely phenomenal meal today for lunch. The buffet is something that we have never tried but was a great way to taste several different dishes in one sitting. Then the best part came, the check was unbelievably inexpensive for all that food. The mango custard (very homemade tasting) is a must try! Highly recommend!

Dimitri Y.

Yelp
One of the Best Indian restaurants south Florida Anything you take is fantastic, must try butter shrimp one of the Best ever.

Sau C.

Yelp
Food is always great here. Been coming here for many many years. The owner is always friendly. This place is clean. Service is great. Best Nan in town. Curry chicken is delicious. Kids meal is massive.

Bintu S.

Yelp
Disappointment for a Indian Restaurant and feels really bad for people who are giving good Reviews. This place is Joke, and food is really bland and undercooked. Chicken tandoori is covered with Color than spice. I went to buffet and everything is empty. and very very limited choice. but I did lots of People. Anyway point is if you know the good quality and taste of Indian foods in US, then this is not a place.

Steve C.

Yelp
Ducked in to try the fare after doing some video production nearby and it was a fine time, here's why: * We walked in and had the place to ourselves * Seating in back is on the waterway * Excellent and immediate service * Fresh and delicious, tasty and robust food We wanted to do the buffet but it has been closed since COVID, hopefully coming back soon. Good stuff, a tad pricey, but very tasty. I had Chicken Tikka Masala and some Naan Bread, garlic of course. Yum! Cabeza OUT!

Lara H.

Yelp
Great food! The buffet has less spicy dishes, which I love. One can always add that. Super nice people work there.

Nadia M.

Yelp
Good food! Portions are large enough for 2- maybe 3. Very tasty and the service is very good. Prompt service that is also helpful if you're unsure of what you're ordering. Good vegetarian options as well.

Karen N.

Yelp
We were here for the Sunday lunch buffet. We were the first ones there and then about a half hour later, the place was packed. To say the food lacked flavor is an understatement. I do not like spice and anyone who likes level 2 or higher should avoid the buffet. The Chicken Curry was a level 0. Not spicy at all with zero flavor. The Tandoori Chicken was the star and the 3 dipping sauces (onion chutney, tamarind, and mint) were authentic. I would come back, but not for the buffet. If you have children that get bored while sitting at a table, sit next to the window and tell them to watch for the fish in the canal. I was completely distracted by two fish. Watching them was the highlight of my meal.

Tania V.

Yelp
Restaurant is cozy and has a good ambiance. Service is quick and attentive. I had been to this restaurant about 7-8 years ago and I was so disappointed! Lunch buffet disappointing to say the least Salad is lettuce tomato and onion. French or Italian dressing. 3 food choices and Naan . Food is not flavorful at all. Won't be back.

Max N.

Yelp
The lunch buffet is very good. Good options. The service was great and a great experience.

Sharon B.

Yelp
Horrible dry tasteless food lunch buffet Is the worst Even the fruit on the buffet was old and rotten

Doc S.

Yelp
The best and outstanding compliment that I can give a restaurant is if the food is consistently good, each and every visit. Sure, there is always going to be some variation as all food cooked to order by a chef is just that, cooked to order and made by an individual so there will always be slight differences, but when you can get good wholesome food all the time, this is why I return to Royal India time and time again.

Camille B.

Yelp
Food was bland and tasted watery. I feel like they didn't have Indian food staples.Service was good and efficient.

Leslie D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in Fort Lauderdale, so I'm surprised the overall rating isn't higher. The restaurant is family owned and features a huge menu of Indian favorites. The food is fresh and tasty, prices are affordable, and the service is friendly. The portions are huge- be prepared to share a few plates or take some home for later. The vibe of this restaurant is cozy, come as you are, with a view of the canal available. I like to come here for a quick no-hassle dinner, but think it would also be acceptable for a casual, inexpensive date or place to go for a quiet no-hassle dinner. During lunch, there's a full buffet.

Joy L.

Yelp
I've been coming to Royal India for over 10 years. Reading my past review, it seems as though not much has changed - Royal India is classy and romantic. You could easily have a business dinner or luncheon here. The lunch is definitely a place to try. Go hungry, they have all you can eat Tandoori chicken! Along with other favorites, there are plenty of veggies, Jasmine rice, and nan bread. You can also order off the regular menu if you chose. The seating area is down a few steps and wide open. There is a beautiful view of the water and it is peaceful and quiet making conversation easily heard. For dinner, the use of the upper dining room has a romantic glow. The dinner plates are generous and each comes with a portion of rice. There is also a nice wine list to select from.. You can also order ahead and pick up to eat at home. When you have several small children this is a wonderful option. You can still have an amazing meal at home, without having to deal with maintaining behavior.

Jessi M.

Yelp
I don't usually do two reviews but I felt I had to note today's service. The older gentleman meant well (I think) because he was very nice and joked with us but the service was not the best. He was not knowledgeable about the menu at all, which is one of my biggest pet peeves. I told him I'm Vegan and one, he apparently has no clue what that means (while working at an Indian Restaurant...) and two, didn't understand that I didn't want dairy in anything I ordered. Complicated, right? So it was quite the ordeal to place my order as you can imagine. I had also asked him what the rice dish that the table next to us ordered and if it was the one with the fruits, peas and nuts. He couldn't understand and said it was cauliflower, uh no. Then my mom's friend ordered the naan and he insisted we order another one and I said no thank you, it's made with yogurt and he was mindblown and didn't believe me. My mom got annoyed that I argued with him and was being a pain but seriously... so anyways, he ended up ordering the 9 vegetables (still trying to figure out what the 9 are, all I saw was green beans, peas, cauliflower, potatoes and carrots) for me in curry (off menu) since it was too confusing to order the one on the menu without cream. Can't sub. Nope, nope, nope. Same with the rice, can't sub, you have to order the whole dish (so I didn't). Anyways, my mom's friend ordered lamb and he made it too spicy and I ordered mine medium and it was definitely mild. He did bring out some chili sauce for me and a side of sliced almonds, whole almonds, 3 raisins and one cashew since I didn't get the rice I wanted. He did try to make it work but ordering was such a challenge. A big part of dining out is the whole experience, which if I were rating that, I'd never be back. At the end of our meal I ordered the Gulab Jamun for her since it was her birthday. I will say that I did like my dish overall, a little bland and very oily but still good. One other complaint is about the amount of food we for spending over $100. I'd rather come here for the lunch buffet if I lived closer. Edit: forgot to mention the issue with my mom and my fiancé's drink order; first they had to remind him bc he forgot about it (he made a cute joke about memory so it was all good) but then when he poured my fiancé's beer, the glasss was full of sand that rose to the top with the foam. How gross! Makes me wonder if there's anything liKe that in the food. The waiter was accommodating thought and brought a new glass and a new beer. He even said that there was another glass in the back with the same issue. Strange....

Mankneesha G.

Yelp
To be quite honest I was very disappointed with the food. With the all the good reviews I read, I expected it to be an awesome food experience. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. On the bright side The staff was nice, attentive, understood and repeated my order. I am one of those annoying people who ask many questions about the entrée before I get it. I asked for it to be spicy extra spicy, Indian spicy and when I got my meal it was not even medium spicy. Indian food is supposed to be filled with flavors. The food lacked flavor taste and aroma. The most bland Indian food I've tasted.

G.man G.

Yelp
Always fantastic food , warm welcoming and great service always .. and always satisfied :-) the new renovation is great just miss the old style but it's cleaner and a new full bar and look so much more modern and attractive:-) and the best parts is always fresh food and consistent :-) even after 25 years it never change the home feeling same owner Robert Solomon and servers for many years and for us it's a great sign on how good the place is and mean a lot to us :-) we wish all the best for many more years to come .. thank you Royal India to be there as an unbelievable place to go ...

Chris H.

Yelp
First time here and food was great. They automatically bring papadams and chutney to the table, which is a bonus most Indian restaurants do not do any more. Lamb korma, my go to taste test of any Indian joint, was spiced perfectly, if a bit chewy. Great Indian beer list and attentive service. It's also on the canal front, so you can reserve a table with a water view.
