"My best local discovery this year was Royal Spice in Dunwoody where the express lunch menu costs about $12 and includes soup, onion pakora, rice, naan, and vegetable of the day. They make a wonderful chana masala, among other Indian classics." - Beth McKibben

Wanted to try a new restaurant and this is the restaurant we chose. From the moment we entered, the customer service was TOP TIER! We ordered the Chana Poori for our appetizer and it was a party in our mouths. It was sooo good! They gave some great suggestions, so for our entrées were ordered the Chicken Saag and the Shrimp Korma w/ Garlic Naan. Both were amazing!! In addition, we had Mango Lassi and Masala Iced Tea…both were very refreshing!! I think it goes without saying…but we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at this restaurant and can’t wait to go back and try some other things!

Google
Great local delicious Indian restaurant. Went on monday for lunch they served soup, two curries ( one you get to choose, one is curry of the day) and you can upgrade your nann for a garlic nann. Also serves with two pieces of onion pakora and balsamic rice. Food came out in a timely manner with good amount of portion of the food. Staffs were friendly. Our favorite was butter chicken with garlic nann. Lunch deal is amazing so you should check it out.

Delicious Indian Cuisine & Great Service! I had a wonderful dining experience at Royal Spice Indian Restaurant . The food was rich in authentic Indian flavors, with perfectly spiced curries and fresh, fluffy naan. The service was warm and attentive, making the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone craving quality Indian food!

I took a chance to visit this Indian place and when I walked in around 7:00 p.m. on a Thursday evening, there was nobody sitting inside the restaurant. There was one couple sitting outside so I was a little nervous. I got the chana with puri (chole) and it was very delicious and so worth it for the price. I got the appetizer version. I also got the seekh kebab and naan and was a little disappointed with the kebab. First of all, it says eight pieces on the menu and although that's true, the pieces are very small. I felt for the price, the portion was very small and I did not like that. Also, the kebab taste was just okay. Normally, kebabs come with some kind of chutneys and I asked if it came with any and was told no. Kind of a weird thing because I saw the head waiter pouring chutneys into little to go cups for pickup orders so I don't understand why he couldn't just offer me some of those. It looked like there were mint chutney and tamarind chutney that he was putting in to go cups. Overall, the chole was excellent but the kebab is not worth the price.

Third time visiting. Have never been disappointed. Love the lamb curry and the lentil soup. Basmati rice and the change spinach is amazing. Love how family run this place is.

Google
I can stress this enough, the food here is really amazing. Everything tasted so freshly prepared. I really enjoyed the lentil soup, it was so flavorful. The samosa was scrumptious. The Chana masala was delectable; seasoned and spiced to perfection.

AVOID ROYAL SPICE INDIAN FOOD AT ALL COSTS - WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Rating: 0/5 stars I'm still trying to process the horrific experience I had at Royal Spice Indian. Waiter is a 15 year old rude kid. The dishes were lukewarm, and the flavors were dull and uninspired. I asked to speak to the manager, who arrived with an attitude that can only be described as hostile. When I expressed my disappointment with the food, the manager became defensive and argumentative, insisting that the dishes were "fine" and that I just didn't understand Indian cuisine. I was taken aback by the sheer audacity of his response. But the pièce de résistance was when I asked to speak to the owner. The manager reluctantly called him, and when the owner arrived, he seemed utterly disinterested in our concerns. In fact, he seemed to take pleasure in telling us that he didn't need our business and that we were free to leave. I've never encountered such blatant disdain for customers in my life. It's clear that the owner and management of Royal Spice Indian Food are not interested in providing good food or decent customer service. They seem to be running the restaurant solely to amuse themselves, and customers are merely an inconvenience. Unless you enjoy being treated like dirt and served subpar food, stay far, far away from Royal Spice Indian Food. There are plenty of other excellent Indian restaurants in the area that actually value their customers.

Yelp
Picked up lunch from here last week, we ordered the chicken tikka and garlic naan. We decided to go with medium spice and it was pretty spicy. The naan was very good but a little over toasted in some places where it was more chip like bread.

Karla C.

Yelp
Small, quaint restaurant located in a cute area full of other restaurants and stores. They seem to have e regulars being that many were on first name basis, I see that as a good sign, people that always return. Staff was polite but a little reserved at times, but was great at explaining. Our dishes were brought out quickly and I was thankful for that. The meat was super soft and flavors were there but at one point my food did taste a little too sweet for my preference but I did order a dish with pineapple so, that is on me. Samosas were also a little dry but being honest, I would give their place another try. Their menu is extensive and it showed so many good options.

Yelp
Continue to go once a week for lunch and just love Roy Spice. Had the lamb korma today and it was perfect. The staff is great also so friendly and accommodating. On a cold day it's great to sit down and get your warm soup right away.

Yelp
Yesterday I finally tried Indian food and it did not disappoint at all! I had the lunch special and the meal I chose was butter chicken, and it came with broccoli, rice, Naan, soup and this onion pakora that was actually really good. They give a really good amount of food for the price and I appreciate that! The inside looked clean and the people were really nice and patient with me with it being my first time and not really knowing anything. Everything minus the butter chicken was a 10/10. The butter chicken was good! It just taste like regular curry chicken and taste like they use breast so it was oh so slightly on the dry side. But someone told me that their lamb was amazing so I will definitely be back and try that next time!

Yelp
I've visited Royal Spice's Dunwoody location on many occasions and I think they have some of the best and most authentic Indian food in the area. Their menu has so many different options of appetizers, curries and much more. I've only had an opportunity to try a select handful of items, but each dish I've had has been delicious and I feel confident that everything else would be just as good. I'm a fairly basic person when it comes to curry, so I'm very familiar with their butter chicken and their chicken tikka masala. Although fairly similar, you can definitely distinguish between the two at Royal Spice. The tikka masala is definitely a bit sweeter. However, both curries are fragrant and taste delicious. The chicken cubes are tender and absorb the flavor of the curry quite well. I've also had their chicken biryani and this is one of my favorite biryanis. The saffron they use in the rice is evident throughout, and the flavors compliment each other quite well. There's spice, some earthiness, and pairing it with the yogurt adds a lightness and creaminess to the dish. It is simply fantastic. On the vegetarian front, I've had their bhindi masala (okra) and their palak paneer. The vegetables they use in those dishes taste fresh and they tend to make the vegetarian dishes stand out more with extra spice. I found these two dishes to be spicier than the meat dishes, at the same heat level. The portion sizes at Royal Spice are a plus. They serve you a lot of curry for the price, and isn't stingy about the rice. As someone who will come here alone most times, getting one curry is enough. The ambiance of the restaurant is bright and cozy and service has always been attentive. I will absolutely continue to visit Royal Spice. I haven't even been able to try out their lunch special, which I hear is a big hit!

Yelp
To go restaurant for us! They offer perfect portions of authentic Indian food, friendly staff, and excellent customer service.

Yelp
Every time we are in the area we have to stop at either one of the Royal Spice locations. I am vegan and they have plenty of options. The food is amazing. Granted i did have aluminum foil in my meal the first time i went to this specific location. The waiter asked if we wanted a new plate but didn't really seem like he wanted to offer a discount or anything at all for the aluminum being in my food in the beginning, but he wound up offering a free puff bread for the inconvenience. Other than that experience, the food was really good

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch after finding them on Yelp. Not only was the good delicious but the customer service was exceptional. So glad to have found a great Indian spot. I will definitely be back !

Yelp
I placed a pre order yesterday for delivery today. They had confirmed the order via email. They charged my credit card. They sent me an email 2 hours before the order was in progress. 30 mins before delivery time I got a text from Door Dash that they didn't have my order! I called them to find out what's going on and I'm being passed around to three different people who can't confirm what happened with my order. They kept blaming door dash who had nothing to do with anything other than delivery - Royal spice confirmed my order via email. Royal spice confirmed my order was being prepared. Royal spice charged my credit card! I got my order finally but only because I was angry! I never got an apology, but I did get hung up on during the process. Horrible business practices - and the poor door dash delivery person who also is trying to earn a living was stuck not making money off this delivery bc these incompetent people were then unable to cancel the delivery either. Mistakes happen but how businesses respond to them shows their true character. I wish I had more hands to give this place four thumbs down!

CHRIS S.

Yelp
The best Indian food we have encountered in north Atlanta... Thank you for taking care of us and cooking for us on Mother's Day . Everything was perfect and delicious. The spices were tailored to our relatively fragile pallets, and the flavor was unparalleled. !

Rachel M.

Yelp
Cold winters night and everyone has homework to do. Usually order pizza, but wanted something different. Took a chance and ordered a delivery from Royal Spice. Everything arrived hot, fresh and delicious! Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Masala, mixed vegetable curry, and garlic naan: all very tasty. I liked that you can request your level of heat. We ordered mild for the family, but it still had flavor. For delivery, I appreciate that the food was carefully packaged and wrapped. No leaks. We will definitely order again and eat at the restaurant as well. I can't wait to try more dishes and the mango cheesecake.

Al R.

Yelp
One of our favorite places for real deal Indian food. We love their Rogan Josh, samosas, and all their naan breads are excellent. Full service, lively dining room with attentive staff if you want a sit down meal. Great location right on the heart of Dunwoody Village.

Dorothy P.

Yelp
Omg I think I just found the best Indian lunch deal in town! For $11.99 u get a soup, and a dish w their vege curry of the day, naan, rice, onion pakora, and your choice of dish! (I'm not a big fan of lunch buffets bc my eyes r bigger than my stomach and I end up eating too much. So this menu option is perfect!) Dunwoody is lucky to have such amazing Indian food (that's also not overpriced)!

tanya b.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of Indian food but this place has a good reputation and famous lunch special so figured I would try it. I have come several times and found items I love - the naan, tofu korma, and salad are my go tos. When my order wasn't right, the owner was extra nice in fixing. I also like how they are open every day, some local places close Sundays or Mondays.

Kayla T.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Service was amazing! I had the onion pakoras, mango lassi, chili paneer and butter chicken with naan. Everything was great!

Chris C.

Yelp
All the food has been great and nice portions! We mostly order delivery which has always been fast, hot and fresh!

Deb N.

Yelp
Ugh. Paste. Pleasant service. The samosas were very delicious as was the garlic Naan bread. Every other dish bathed in a vhat of simple curry sauce. An extensive menu, but blah blah blah.

Toonces B.

Yelp
Great value, I have eaten there for lunch a few times. The service is exceptional with great personality and guidance. Tikka Masala very tasty.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Delicious Chana Masala, my absolute favorite! Fast, affordable and delicious lunch specials, so much yum! The customer service is stellar, and I enjoy watching Bollywood when I am there my myself without a guest. This is my go-to lunchtime Indian restaurant when I am in the area, wouldn't even consider trying anything else.

Hopii T.

Yelp
The lunch special was unexpected because it came with SOOO MUCH!!! I had garlic naan (+$1), rice, chickpeas, the main meat dish (I got paneer tikka masala), and this red sweet potato deep fried thing. ALLL THIS for $12! I wish there was more paneer tikka masala sauce though, so i could dip my naan in it becuase it was so good! The service was awesome because the server man was super duper cool. His vibe was chill, professional, very attentive, dope, and kind! I liked where it was located because it gave a quaint, private, and sweet feeling. It was very homey to me.

Jill W.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in Dunwoody! Fantastic food and service. Our favorites are the Coconut Vegetable Curry, Chana Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken 65, and Garlic Naan. The portions are extremely generous so one dish will get you at least one meal of leftovers (usually two). We typically do carry out and the staff is very thoughtful in how they package the to go food to ensure it doesn't spill/leak - each container is wrapped in plastic wrap as a safeguard!

F S.

Yelp
Always great food here. The lentil soup is great so is the tandoori chicken, best I've had from any other Indian restaurant.

Kim L.

Yelp
Great food and I especially love the express lunch. The service is quick and great. Great food and I especially love the express lunch. The service is quick and great.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Very fast. The servings were huge. The staff was friendly. Can't wait for my next visit. I will say, I learned I can't handle mild plus spice but I enjoyed the burn!

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
Great price. Convenient location. The food was delicious and plentiful. Came with a wonderful lemon soup. Friendly service. Highly recommended!

Keyonna D.

Yelp
My food is always fresh and hot when I order . Its always hard to find a good place when you move to a new neighborhood. This place doesn't disappoint worth every penny

Miers Q.

Yelp
Had a great lunch with Sam today. Reasonably priced and very flavorful. The juice is worth the squeeze.

Uday N.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and I was very impressed. They have a lunch special for $11.99. I got the Chicken Curry (Indian Spice) and my wife got the chicken tikka masala. It comes with a veggie side, rice, naan, and your choice of pakora or samosa. As an Indian, it's very hard to find good Indian food with authentic flavor. But this place hit the mark for sure! Will be coming back.

Bryan M.

Yelp
Very tasty food. Excellent service. Waiter brought my son, who loves hot food, a smoked (?) ghost pepper. He loved it. Wife and I had the dishes we got (Butter Chicken and Saag) in the mild flavoring, and it was plentiful for heat, we thought. Son had the extra hot dish, and that's the way he likes it. Plenty of food, we brought some home. Appetizer ( Gobi 65 ) was excellent.

Kaneka R.

Yelp
What do you do when you don't want to cook or leave your home, place an order on Uber but before you do check reviews on Yelp! I really was craving sushi but wasn't a fan of the delivery options in the area so decided on Indian food for a lazy weekend night. There were lots of vegetarian and seafood options at Royal Spice, they had good reviews for delivery, and they weren't sold out of samosas...yes!   Details - I ordered samosas of course, (2 for $5), garlic naan ($4.50), which was highly recommended, and seafood bhuna ($18.95). I usually stick with the basics and do a rice dish but decided to change it up. The service was great, food was packaged well, and it arrived before the estimated time.   Food - the samosas were large and very flavorful, but I didn't receive any sauce and the dough had an odd taste, not yucky or anything, just different. The seafood bhuna, was so flavorful, and had 8 to 9 shrimp and it was served with rice, it wasn't as spicy as I like my Indian food so next time I will request it spicier. I initially was disappointed by the servicing size, it appeared very small for the price, however it was very filling. Overall it was a pretty decent Indian meal and hit the spot that night. Oh yeah, the garlic naan was absolutely delicious, you won't regret it.

My N.

Yelp
This review is honestly long overdue. I could say a million things about how great this restaurant is, but you'll have to visit to understand. The service is very attentive, and never once, missed a single item, regardless of if it's to go or dine in. (You'll be surprised by how many restaurants missed items when you order to go). The Veg Samosa melts in your mouth! Those potatoes are A M A Z I N G! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Try it once and see for yourself. My go-to: Butter Chicken Medium Plus biryani Rice Mango Lassi Veg Samosa

Charlene T.

Yelp
Delicious food from this small restaurant. The attention to detail is impressive and the food even better. The vindaloo was wonderful and the 65 a great way to start. Spicy, if that is your thing.

Kevin C.

Yelp
We had a good experience at Royal Spice Indian Restaurant at the beginning of September. The restaurant is in Dunwoody Village, the sprawling outdoor shopping center, and we almost drove past it when we were trying to locate it. Lots of parking can be found, and parking is free. This is a clean restaurant, with great service and good food. Our server, who was the only employee out front, was attentive, even though he was taking care of the few customers who ate inside and all of the take out orders. He immediately greeted us when we entered the restaurant, and told us to sit wherever we wanted. We sat down, the server brought us menus and took our drink orders. When he came back within a couple of minutes with our drinks, he took our food order which we were going to share. We ordered Saag Paneer, which was spinach cooked with homemade cheese (Paneer) in a special creamy sauce, and it came with a bowl of basmati rice. We also ordered chicken tikka masala at a medium spice level, and some naan. There were a few tables outside, in front of the restaurant, for customers to enjoy their meals al fresco. After an almost 20 minute wait, our food was served. The food seemed fresh; however, the chicken tikka masala wasn't spicy at all. All the food items had good flavor the way they were, but the portions were rather small compared with other Indian restaurants that we've eaten at. During the meal, our server came by a few times during our meal to check on us and to see if we wanted anything else, and filled my water glass multiple times without me asking.

Subira J.

Yelp
Had such an amazing time here.y sisters and I felt for Indian and this place had the highest star rating so we drove pretty far to get here ! We were the only ones dining in, but don't let that fool you, because there were customers picking up to-go orders constantly !! The restaurant was clean and tables were set at a safe distance away from each other. Music videos from Indian movies were playing on the TV, my sisters and I are fanatics so we had the best time singing along and recognizing actors and actresses in the videos. Food : Mulligatawny soup - flavorful - blended well - filling - ordered one to eat for dinner and another to go!! Shrimp Poori - ordered spicy and I was able to get it even spicier when I wasn't satisfied the first time - the Poori bread was a bit too dense for me, but I'm comparing it to bhatoora which I prefer over Poori. Hay was so kind to us, giving us suggestions when we asked (and when we didn't) and assisting us throughout our meal. Thanks so much !! We had the best time here and I will be back Hooghly soon for round two!!

Latika S.

Yelp
Ordered gobhi 65, and they have mixed chicken pieces in it!!!!!!!!! Being a vegetarian this is not acceptable!!!

Tiffany G.

Yelp
I ordered the lunch special Bhuna with shrimp and it was delicious. The amount of food you get for lunch is amazing! Service was good, food came out really fast. Will definitely be going back!

Kyla O.

Yelp
Had a great time trying this restaurant! I know it's been here forever but I finally got around to trying it and it's a gem! Very pretty inside and the food is beyond flavorful.

Kelly S.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was terrific. Definitely worth a return visit!

Sid B.

Yelp
If I rated at 5 before, where do I go. Read as 6 First time indoors at the restaurant for dinner. EVEN Better fresh off the grill . Wife and I shared two dishes: lamb chops tandoori and shrimp coconut curry. The lamb chops were tender and juicy. Wow. The coconut shrimp was a good balance. Daughter had samosa and a butter chicken. She added potatoes, very good addition. Service great . Location behind Walgreens, so parking easy. Ps. Noticed its byob if that interests you. Congratulations on being there a full year.

Kristin W.

Yelp
I am disappointed to say that my experience with this restaurant was awful, since so many other reviewers have said such great things. That is why I placed a delivery order this past Friday night (4/21) with them. First, you know something is awry when, a 1/2 hour after you placed the order, you get a message from the delivery service that the restaurant is charging you another $4.99 + tax. For what, you ask? No idea since no additional items were requested. I have to say that in all my years of getting delivery, I have NEVER had that happen. Second, you get the delivery and it's obvious it's been sitting out awhile since the pakoras and naan are soggy. Third, as one earlier reviewer noted, the tikka masala is sweet. What? I've been eating Indian food for over 30 years and tikka masala is my favorite entree, and I've never had it flavored as sweet! Plus, something about it didn't set well with my stomach so I only ate about a third of it. Thank goodness because the next morning... well, you can only imagine. My doc says food poisoning. Not good! But hey, they included free gulab jamon so there's that (which I don't like btw)! No wonder none of my Indian friends/colleagues eat here!

Gabe A.

Yelp
the food tastes amazing every time we go there! their chicken tikka masala is our favorite! the hosts are very polite too

Ky W.

Yelp
I love it here. The food is amazing. Whether you order a single plate or are there for the buffet, you will not be dissatisfied. And the service! The service was great. I tipped 30% of my meal because the price and service was just amazing; the price was much less than I expected to pay and the experience was just that great.

Christy C.

Yelp
I've dined at Royal Spice a few times for lunch and have always been very pleased! They offer an amazing lunch option at an excellent price. For just $9.99 you get a little of everything and plenty of food! I liked that you didn't have to order full portions of each dish and they made the combination easy to choose and order from. The service is friendly and fast. There are a few tables inside as well as some outside. I'd highly recommend Royal Spice for lunch and would definitely try them for dinner but I would assume the dinner menu might have a few more options.

Trent M.

Yelp
My lunch here was fantastic. I ordered the butter chicken and requested it to be spicy. Everything on the plate was so well done. The butter chicken was perfectly cooked with a really delightful spice. The service was spot on. Great location in one of Atlanta's best communities (I'm admittedly biased as a Dunwoody native)

Alicia P.

Yelp
Today was my very first order (via Grubhub) with Royal Spice Indian, and the food was absolutely mouth watering. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Tikka, Archar Kabab and Saag Paneer. I am on the keto diet so Kay, the manager, was an absolute delight to substitute salad and curry cauliflower for 2 of the rice sides. He's such a kind person and even called me once the food had arrived to make sure I enjoyed everything. Talk about fantastic customer service, who does that!!!!! Back to the food I can still taste every succulent bite. The meats were tender and packed full of aromatic flavor. There could have been a bit more chicken in the tikka masala but not important enough to change my rating. The sauces were thick and richly prepared and they included extra tikka masala sauce as I requested. The saag paneer (sauteed spinach and cheese chunks) was the best I've ever had and the cauliflower melted in my mouth. Even the salad was beautiful and tasty and I used the tikka masala sauce as dressing...delicious. I can't wait to eat my leftovers tomorrow. YUM, YUM, YUM & YUM. Thanks Kay & the sweet hostess that initially answered my call after I placed my order online. I'll be BACK for sure, and I am a customer for life. YAY team Royal Spice

Stephanie M.

Yelp
We recently changed our diet to be more plant based/vegan and with it being Diwali today we wanted to go out for Indian. This place satisfied our craving while allowing us to stick to our diet. Weather you are vegetarian/vegan or not, do not sleep on the cauliflower appetizer! It's a small establishment seating around 30 people, located in shopping area in downtown Dunwoody so there is ample free parking. They are open for indoor dining but most people were picking up so it was relatively quiet other than jamming out to the cultural tunes on the television behind the register I feel like this is a hidden gem in our own backyard, look forward to trying out some more of their dishes!

Saleem F.

Yelp
Over the years, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to explore several different Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants which was a whole new experience for me. This corner of the world's cultural exclusive cuisines were all foreign ground for my tastebuds which made the experience all the more exciting. I realized that several restaurants had their own particular take on certain dishes while many of them tasted very similar. In the case of Royal Spice Indian's Achar Kabab dish however, and this is not an overly exaggerated statement when I say this, I have never been utterly mind blown by the flavors of a chicken side order. I'm honestly not even sure why this was on the side order menu as it should be a main dish (just toss some rice with it on the side). The Achar Kabab truly surprised me with what I can only describe as being a delicious explosion of Indian pickled spices covering over perfectly marinated and tender pieces of chicken. This dish honestly put every other chicken appetizer on any other restaurant's menu to shame. I did try the Karahi which was pretty decent, but the Achar Kabab is the spotlight dish for me and one that I'd highly recommend everyone to try. Your tastebuds will immediately thank you.

Freaker D.

Yelp
We were visiting from Palm Beach Gardens Florida and came across this nice Indian restaurant on Tripadvisor. We dined inside and started with chicken samosas that were very good served with two sauces. For entrees, we had chicken tikka marsala and lamb rogan josh along with peshwari naan. All food was very good and the mango lassi was good as well. The dining room service was excellent from the very friendly gentleman. When we are back in town, we would most definitely return! Go and support this privately owned Indian restaurant!

H N.

Yelp
My friends & I visited this place today: 1 - there was a cockroach in the bathroom. Imagine where else they might have been too - Nasty! 2 - the older gentleman working there was not wearing a mask. To make matters worse he was coughing all over the place (front counter & kitchen). To top of it off he was NOT covering his coughs - Gross! 3 - food didn't taste fresh and lacked flavor. I will give this one star for the location & nothing else. Very disappointed!
