Highlights

"After making a name for themselves as one of the top samosa slingers this side of Buford Highway, Royal Sweets has opened up a second spot in Decatur, moseying over from their first retail-turned-wholesale location directly across the street. Fans of the previous setup can look forward to all of the original Indian street food options, along with a slew of new menu items that range from crêpe-like dosa to a helping of ice cream flavors you probably aren't going to pull out of a typical grocery store freezer aisle anytime soon. For instance - dried grape, anyone? And even more tantalizing than the expanded menu options is the delivery process. Customers seeking hot plates and other non-dessert dishes can place and pick up their orders at the restaurant's new indoor food truck. That's right, y'all. We said indoor. But no need to fret about any funky fumes clogging up the dining space; the hard-to-miss neon orange Chevy has been refurbished and now functions as a decorative food window,

Random walk in for some snacks and I’ve never had such bad chaat! Lol what type of papdi is this? The samosas were so small and the price for it is so expensive. The pav was stale as well. Don’t think I’ll be going back

I ate first time today at Royal Sweets. My favorite Bhelpuri is very fresh and amazing here. I really liked bhelpuri, samosa, tea, chevada, rasmalai, kalakhand. Samosa, tea are very popular here. Sweets are very good here. Customer service is amazing. I am soo glad I visited this place for the first time today and had good food, good tea. I will visit many more times in future. Customer service is amazing. Nasim, Mumtaz are amazing positive people with very good personality, and they provided amazing 5 star service with great posotive hospitality. They treated me very good with amazing 5 star service.

The place looks clean and hip, however the food is not that good. We tried their mixed chaat which was just okay. The chicken puff was nice, but the lamb samosa was not that good. We bought some Laddu from here. These were decent. Overall a pretty average place to eat Indian snacks. The owner/ worker was nice, but it seems nobody cares for covid issue here at this place. People including the owner/ worker were without masks and social distancing never existed!

This Royal Sweet shop is a true gem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the smell of delicious, freshly baked treats,Crunchy Chaats and Mix Farshan. I tried Jalebi and Samosa, Fresh Masala Tea and it was absolutely amazing Yummy 😋🤤 The staff (Mumtazben and Nasimben) was incredibly friendly and helpful always smiling face making my visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this Royal Sweet Shop to anyone with a sweet tooth – it's a must-visit!

It is the best Sweet shop for Indian sweet dishes. Food here is fresh. It also sells soft snacks and dry snacks that could be carried along. It has beautiful ambience. The walls are distinctive in this shop that picture the streets of India and the famous street foods! I absolutely love this place. So once again I visited this place and it has not disappointed me. The samosa chat here is best of its kind! Check it out

Yelp
This used to be good with original owners. Now that son and wife are running the place... awful service. About 3 months I bought $50 worth of different sweets ... he had the audacity to charge me 50cents for each tasting. 2nd time recently they created a ruckus because I bought 5 bags of African chewda which come in plastic bags and I asked for plastic containers to ship items to a friend. WOW! They finally after 10 mins back and forth gave me 3 containers begrudgingly making it sound they were doing a big favor! Sorry but such service is unacceptable.

Yelp
Really good sweets. Had them fill a gift box that I took home. People really loved the besan ladu and Hapshi Halva. Service is really good. Enjoy!

Pradnya K.

Yelp
I bought Jalebi from Royal sweets this weekend. jalebi was not crisp. looks like it was sitting on the counter for long before it was sold. I am not going to visit this place again.

Yelp
I can eat the samosas all day. So flavorful. Ask for the sauce when you get them. The spicy green sauce is so good.

Sonny J.

Yelp
Samosas to die for! If you miss samosas from 'Havemor restaurants' then this is the place to get it. All sweets are low in sugar, freshly made. Are you from Africa? Then you must try African chevda here. Ice creams have good unique flavors. It's a show off & retail place for their wholesale business. If you have eat sweets in weddings then mostly it's from this place. -Get 'to go' is easy and suggested.- Service & suggestions was nice and the manager was friendly and attentive. The one star I cut is for COVID-19 assurance. We got the chutney in open to share big container to self serve and give it back to serve others, small disposable container would be better choice for chutneys to serve it. We got open straws to mix chai, individually wrapped spoons would be better option. :(

Yelp
The name says it all. It is really ROYAL Sweets. I have been to this place many times. It is my favorite evening snack place. I have tried almost everything on their menu from snacks, chaats, sweets, ice creams, and many more. Its the most amazing sweet shop I have ever been in the town. Atlanta's best chaat provider with freshly made samosas everyday. Specializing in namkeen snacks, mithai (Indian sweets), and other authentic Indian food dishes. My best and favorite item on the menu is Pani Puri. It is a common street snack in several regions of the Indian subcontinent. In east India, it is known as Phuchhka while in North India, it is called Golgappa. The main ingredients go with this dish are Flour, Spiced water, Onions, Potatoes, and Chickpeas. It is little tricky how to eat Pani Puri but try this way and you will enjoy them. Carefully stuff the Puri with chickpeas and potatoes from the plate. Dip the whole thing into the spicy mint water and make sure some gets in through the hole. Then quickly pop it into your mouth and eat. Few of my favorite sweets are Pista Burfee, Almond Burfee, Kalakand, Dry Fruit Halwa, Kesari Peda, Kaju Katli, Anjir Roll, Yellow Jalebi, Yellow Ladoo, Gulab Jamun, and Rasgula. Few of my favorite Namkeens are African Chevda, Papdi Gathia, Dal Moth, Spicy Sev, Bombay Mix, and Banana Chips. The samosas here are to die for. They are hands down the best Indian samosas I have eaten so far with a warning, they can get spicy so keep that Thums-Up cool drink handy. Service is excellent as the samosas are freshly fried. They have Decorative Boxes to choose from there large selection of simple to elegant decorated sweet boxes for any occasions, available in variety of shapes, sizes, and designs perfect for holidays, gifts, favors, and weddings events. You can also do the custom assortment which is to customize any one or two pound assortment from our large selection of freshly made sweets, mix and match all the favorites to satisfy any sweet tooth or craving. Funky decor, a cool owner, and tons of interesting and tasty treats. The chat is delicious. Inside look is really awesome with great wall painting, reminds me my home town. The ice creams are amazing. The flavors stood out the most against many other restaurants. The employees are all great and its such a nice atmosphere. I plan to keep coming here, I love it a lot.

Yelp
What a nice little find! After doing some shopping at Patel brothers, but not wanting dinner, I found myself walking into Royal sweets. You might think there's been an accident when you walk in, but no, that food truck sitting in the store is there on purpose! Royal sweets has all kinds of sweets traditional to indian cuisine, but I had my sights set on ice cream, and got myself the pistachion icecream scoop as well as scoop of Falooda (Rose water flavored). Both scoops cost $2.95 total, and for the flavor, that's a great deal! The Pistachio had little chunks of pistachio layered throughout the ice cream, and had a very creamy flavor that tasted great! The Falooda truly does have the taste of the way roses smell, which you wont get until you try a spoonful. It worked and I loved that flavor too! Not even planning it, I noticed the dirt cheap Samosa prices and ordered two veggie samosas ($2.50 for 2) and one chicken samosa ($0.89). Staff happily heated the samosas by throwing them in the fryer again to heat them (ask for this...they're REALLY good nice and hot). The chicken samosa was fairly small, but was packed with a ground chicken, and every bite was really delicious! The Veggie samosas were much larger, also packed with tons of flavor, and were spiced just right. I may have found a solid go to for affordable and tasty samosas! Staff were very friendly and happy to see me trying their foods. There's a good amount of seating in Royal sweets, and parking is shared, since Royal sweets is in the same parking space as Patel Brothers. Translation? You have nothing to worry about on parking. I really enjoyed myself, and i'd actually give them a 4.5...they're that good! Definitely show Royal Sweets some love the next time you're in the area.

Yelp
Jalebi ( indian dessert ) - Best jalebi in whole complex. Enough amount of sweetness. No oil smell like others do .Once I brought jalebi from gokul sweets . It tasted bitter. Later i came to kw ,Bitter taste will come due to overused oil . Anyways good jalebi by Royal Sweets. One star less for color . Hope they will mk colorless jalebi soon . Paid 6$ /1 pond .

Yelp
After a heavy dinner down the street at Spice Root, we wandered into Royal Sweets for something light and different for dessert. Royal Sweets was completely empty on a Saturday night, as it was 30 minutes to closing. We strolled in and admired the large truck inside (how did they get it in and how will they ever drive it out?!) before approaching the glass display case. Honestly, everything inside was a huge mystery to me, but all I wanted was the gulab jamun, which I knew in my mind as honey soaked balls. The boo wanted mango sorbet. Both were excellent! The owner and the worker were patient with our ignorance, and helped us pick out the ice cream and the gulab jamun. I love fried dough and I love sugar, so the fried balls of dough soaked in honey was delicious. They even warmed it up for me! The mango sorbet was sweet and tasty. I was disappointed that they ran out of the chai ice cream, but I guess it was the end of the night. It seems like there are quite a few Indian dessert places in the area, but I like how quiet Royal Sweets was on a Saturday night. Not to mention that our both of desserts totaled to under $5! I will definitely be back to try the chai ice cream.

Uma P.

Yelp
I give it 4.5 stars. Great place! The falooda is fantastic and it has a cute decor. My BF and I go here for falooda a lot and enjoy it every time. Check it out!

Thuy P.

Yelp
Although Royal Sweets sounds like this place just specializes in dessert, it is actually my go-to spot for samosas in the Patel Brothers Plaza. If you come on any old day, most places in the plaza will be crowded, but Royal typically does more pick up orders, so you will definitely have a place to sit. Royal serves the best value samosas I have found-- let me know if you find better! The food comes out quick and is deliciously textured each time!

Yelp
Royally bad a**. I wandered into Royal Sweets after dining next door at Tava, and I couldn't believe what I saw: a stacked Indian bakery with a visually mesmerizing interior. Here's my take: ***** I. FOOD & DRINK They have several different kinds of entrees and drinks, but I just feasted on a couple plastic containers-worth of sweets. One container had various types of barfis (sugar, milk, flour, coconut, fruit, nuts) and the other consisted of various iterations of small syrup-soaked bread bites. All were very tasty. All gave me plenty of carbs. All made my belly larger. II. SERVICE I asked a lot of questions, and they were super nice. III. ATMOSPHERE & DÉCOR There's a small, colorful food truck inside the store, and a large, beautiful painted mural resides on the right wall. Pretty awesome. There are plenty of tables, for small groups. IV. PRICES I can't really recall how much the noms set me back, but I don't think it was much. I don't think the desserts had clearly labeled prices. V. OVERALL Pretty amazing Indian dessert shop that anyone should drop by while in Decatur!

Yelp
So this place moved and I finally got to check them out. I wrote a review for the original location almost two years ago (http://www.yelp.com/biz/royal-sweets-decatur-3) and I feel that the business has kept up the quality while giving patrons a comfy spot to enjoy whatever treats they get. Seriously, what a difference from the other location, which was more of a pick-up kinda joint. This place has tables and benches and interesting wall art for you to eat your savory pastries and delicious sweets. Having been craving deliciousness from Royal Sweets for a while, I dragged AT with me and after I ordered a bunch of burfi and some rasmalai to chomp on in-house before leaving. Well, he had a trick up his sleeve and right as I was about to pay, he cleared his throat and started pointing at a bunch of savory pastries in the warm case. The girl who was helping me ran down to grab what he asked for and she packed them to-go. As we got rang up, I couldn't help but wander over to the ice cream case. Holy crap. I had never tried the kulfi at the other place but as I looked over the available flavors, I promised myself (and AT) that I would surely come back to try some out, especially the saffron pistachio kind. There was also a plain pistachio one, as well as a rose-flavored ice cream (which I bet AT would love and was secretly thinking about trying himself, which is why he didn't protest when I said I wanted to come back). We ate the rasmalai before leaving and I was immensely pleased and surprised to see saffron threads floating about. I'm not sure if I have never had this milky goodness with saffron but it was amazing. Maybe the best one I have ever had. The chicken and potato pastries weren't consumed a day or two later, but even after being refrigerated and reheated (in the oven though, rather than the microwave), they were very tasty. Great to grab on the go to get in some food in your belly, if you're in the area. They are very flaky, so don't blame me if your car seat is full of the pastry after you have finished eating it. Come here and experience the awesomeness. That's all.

Yelp
Samosas are full if protein and delicious. Pani puri is already broken and filled next steps is to fill with superb sauces and satisfy your taste buds!

Nishant G.

Yelp
Great burfees, good falooda, decent prices and excellent customer service. Place was very clean and lots of space to sit down. Would definitely come back here again.

Ada A.

Yelp
The ice cream here is so delicious that it blast Busters Ice cream and all other ice cream parlor out of the water. I had chikoo ice cream and saffron ice cream. It was perfectly balance between sweet and cream. Come try it. I highly recommend it.

Preeti C.

Yelp
Stopped in for tea while I was waiting for my take out order at Zyka to be ready. I was pleasantly surprised by the new little spot. They have awesome decor (a large Indian truck is literally parked INSIDE). The service is friendly and not rude like some Indian fast food spots can be. I bought some banana chips to try and let's just say finished the entire bag in a week. I can't wait to return and try the snacks!

Lee L.

Yelp
They have delicious samosas. They're definitely spicy, but when they come out fresh... OMGeezers! I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I actually haven't tried their sweets yet. The woman at the front is also very nice in answering questions.

Tynisa H.

Yelp
Came in for an afternoon Snack..Pani Puri, Chicken Puffs, Chicken Samosa, Sweet Lassi and more Ladoo. Love this place! Service is always EXCELLENT!

Nil C.

Yelp
Customer service here is exceptionally good. They greet once you stroll through the door and immediately want to take care of all your needs. The selection of goodies are always amazing and one thing that they carry which most of the other Indian restaurants don't carry is DABELI. I can definitely say that have one of the best if not the best dabeli's in town. I also think of the the best things about Royal sweets is how clean they keep it unlike some other local shops (which I won't throw shade on), but they really take pride in maintaining a polished restaurant. They also pay attention to detail so once you walk in you will realize its not like any other shop around I don't want to spoil it but you will see once you get there. Finally my favorite thing they carry is the ice which is made in house. The Flavors are exactly what they are striving for Flaooda, Paan, Chai, and Kulfi. All of them are amazing; however, some might require you have an acquired taste to them so you've been warned. I've been going here for about a year now and can't seem to get enough. Keep it up guys.

Aditi Y.

Yelp
Great snacks! Good prices and the best chat in Atlanta area.. I come there again and again just for the chat!

Paul E.

Yelp
The best chaat place in Patel Plaza. Hands down. There are quite a few in this plaza, but none is as clean, with friendlier of service, and fairer price points. I'm a chaat connoisseur, and these folks know how to do it right. The samosas are large and cost $2.49 for 2!! You can get a fulfilling meal for under $15 with an awesome lassi. For once, non desi folks can come in and count on staff who are happy to explain the different types of sweets and chaats, how they are made, what they are, etc. Unlike the other ones here, you don't feel conscious about asking questions. Overall, from a service, price, cleanliness, and quality perspective this places gets 5 stars. I usually never give out 5s, but thus place deserves it.

Sarah N.

Yelp
Avoid this place if possible. I'm from Dallas, where our Royal Sweets is much bigger and has a huge variety of sweets, savories, and snacks, as well as at least 4 staff at the counter. This location only has pre-packaged sweets and savories, which are pretty expensive considering you don't get to customize your box of sweets. There is also only one person at the counter and one cook. I ordered the chole bhature to eat on site, which was the worst mistake ever. I will compliment the restaurant for bringing both items out hot. That's the only upside about the dish. The bhature was actually a couple of very greasy puris... not at all what bhature should be. The chole were barely seasoned, canned chickpeas. I was sick for two days after eating the chole... not the best experience when you're on a business trip. If you ask for a glass of water, you will be handed a small styrofoam cup and directed to the water fountain on the wall. The service was also terrible. First of all, they don't take American Express and neither does any other Indian shop in the entire shopping strip. I did not see the cashier again once she rang up my order. Other customers came in and she was still laughing with the cook in the kitchen, oblivious that someone else was waiting to be served. There are a lot of other great Indian places in Atlanta to catch a quick bite... go there instead.

Yelp
I can describe this place in many, many words but to put together~~ Delicious food, clean and neat and really prompt service! This place has never ceased to amaze me! Good food every time.. especially a fan of their chhola bhatura, sev batata puri and ragda pattice! Go, try for yourself :)

Shoaib A.

Yelp
So my wife and I always stop by for the assorted mix of chaats - so I will only speak to those items. They are awesome - every single one. The customer service is wonderful!

Regina Q.

Yelp
Randomly came across this place and so glad I did! They make homemade ice cream! They have cool unique flavors like gulab jaman flavored ice cream. I had the falooda ice cream and it was seriously delish, way better than kulfi which I don't really like. This was really creamy and tasted fresh. They had just made it when we walked in. The people who work here are really nice and it's a clean place with some nice décor.

RDasiy N.

Yelp
This place looks amazing! The indoor food truck and the enlarged Indian street themed portrait on the wall is bringing my attention! I got a chance to try their chaat dishes for dinner, and boy was I surprised! I loved the samosas! These are the best I've ever tried. The paneer pakoras and bhel puri was equally delicious. After dinner I tried some of their in-house made ice creams. I was incredible pleased! The paan masala and mango ice creams were awesome! I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family!

vamsee P.

Yelp
My wife and i frequent to this place quite often, they have wonderful samosas and jalebi. In this crowded market of indian food places in patel plaza,Royal sweets stands tall. Usually there is wait , but it is worth the wait for food.

Adil A.

Yelp
I used to go to this indian sweets store at its former location. I just visited the store today for the first time and I was impressed. Clean and more spacious the the original. The selection of sweets were all fresh. Orange julabi takes me back to my childhood and I was instantly teleported to this moment of my life and I couldn't help but smile. I tried the yellow ludoos and barfi-- all very fresh and delicious. The cashew based sweets were also very good and I found myself savoring each and every bite. Interestingly, they also had a selection of snack foods known as "chat" at a reasonable price. Some tried and true favorites but I went for the pani puri. These puffed rice balls with spiced water inside exploded with flavor on my mouth and was delicious! I would highly recommend this place and I will be back often.

Ra B.

Yelp
We are regulars at royal sweets. They serve traditional Indian chaat( street food). I like their consistency of taste and quality. The staff are quite friendly and service is quite good. Do check this place out for an authentic taste of Indian chaat and sweets.

Sudhakar K.

Yelp
OK food, pathetic service. Staff doesn't know how to greet customers. Pleasantry would add great value.

Sunny P.

Yelp
Good food, clean decor, and good service. Would recommend over the other places in this shopping center.

Sree D.

Yelp
This place in the strip mall is dead, I was in the store myself and they food was ok and service was quick. Not interested.

Jay P.

Yelp
I went there after reading a yelp review about how good the ice cream is. My opinion, it was the worst ice cream I ever had. No texture or creaminess even taste was nothing but way too sweet. Frankly they don't know how to make ice cream. The kulfis were no better with too much sugary flavor. For great ice cream I will go back to Butter & Cream or Jeni's ice cream in downtown Decatur. Ice cream making is an art that consist of getting the base to the right texture but this place has no clue on this. Finally I bought one of the packaged nasta which was also stale in taste. The only saving grace is the service. The young girls working there wished & thanked you. This kind of service is not even part of the equation at the other 3 similar stores in Patel Plaza (Chatpatti & Chowpaati or Gokul).

Dina C.

Yelp
Adorable atmosphere with a wall mural of an Indian street scene. Their savory puffs were very good, but the Rasmalai was simply bad. They have good sweets, but I prefer Gokul overall for snacks and sweets.

RegPie G.

Yelp
I checked this place out today during my lunch break and it was absolutely delicious-- THE BEST INDIAN FOOD I've tasted! They have a huge menu that everyone from my team was excited about tasting-- we tried a variety of their chaat dishes with samosas being everyone's favorite! Their big display of sweets was well organized and looked absolutely tasting as well but we decided to check out their exotic ice creams- The Mango and coconut were authentic in flavor and so creamy! We will definitely be coming here on more of our lunches out of the office! If you're in the area-- we all strongly recommend trying them out! Super nice employee too!

Russell S.

Yelp
My wife and I have been here twice and we will definitely return. The sweets are different than anything you'd find in a typical American candyshop/bakery. If you want to experience something different, you'll be hard pressed to find a more unique place. The ice cream, made in house, is PHENOMENAL. Seriously, so good and again, very unique. My wife got a mango derived ice cream and I got Falooda, rose water and basil seed. Wow.

Jordan C.

Yelp
Awesome and authentic food and desserts! Owners are very knowledgeable and nice. Try the Dosa, samosas and coconut ice cream. We've been 3 times in the past 2 weeks...highly recommended!

Trupti D.

Yelp
Anitaben from Royal sweets and catering not only provided the best food for my very short noticed party, but she did a great job of suggesting me the best combination for food items as well. Me and my guests were super happy with the food and it's quantity, I was little nervous in the beginning as this was my first experience with Royal, but they made the most amazing gujju food.I'll definitely use their service again.

Uttam S.

Yelp
Clean, convenient and a large selection. The julabi reminded me of Evenings in Bombay. I'll be returning often.
