This place is SO good. Definitely our go-to when we want Thai food. We ordered the drunken noodles, pad kra pow, and shrimp Tom yum. Everything was cooked to perfection! Can’t forget to finish off your meal with a Thai tea. Service is fast and friendly

I’ve been going here for years now and I come here every week. I’ve enjoyed every meal I’ve had here. I don’t think I’ll ever eat at a Thai restaurant that I will like more than Royal Thai. The food is high quality but the prices are great. Every person that I or my mom has brought here has enjoyed their food. Last but not least, the staff are warm and friendly to all its customers.

Had the Red Paradise, Creamy Crawfish Red Curry with Soft Shell Crab. And Thai tea. Thought the curry was ok, but not Thai curry seasoned/spicy enough. And the crab was a deep fry batter vs what I thought should be lighter, panko type. The Thai tea was ok. Service was great, friendly. Atmosphere - dark room w/ small print, full menu. Some light music and temp was good. Prices were high.

I ordered the Royal Cashew with chicken off the lunch menu. The food was good and flavorful, the serving size was a nice portion. The appearance and decor of the restaurant could use some updating, but if you are just going for the food, it is good.

This was my first time trying Thai food and I was honestly very impressed. The food was so delicious and flavorful. They had an easy to read menu that really helped a newbie like me figure out what I wanted to eat. The menu had lost of options to choose from with lots of variety.. The staff was very friendly and were able to answer all my questions. The food came out in a timely manner. The place was honestly so cute on the inside and very clean. I can not wait to go back and try some more dishes. If you have never tried Thai food before this is the perfect place for you first time you will not be disappointed.

The service was very nice. Their Thai tea was so delicious! I added the brown sugar jelly in it, and it made the flavor even better! For the food that I ate, I ordered the Royal Spaghetti, but it was not the best as they added too much oil to the meal; however, maybe this just comes to my preference and the fact that I just simply chose the wrong dish. The dishes that the rest of my cousins ate looks better than mines, so I won't judge too harshly. As for the decor, it's not aesthetic and trendy, but the customer service made up for it. In conclusion, I would come back and try a better dish.

Good service and food. I had the basil eggplant, No. 18, with veggies and tofu and added 2 scrambled eggs...it was great. For an app we split the endamame gyoza which was also very good! Lot of food for the price. I brought most of the entree home. Didn't carry Absolute vodka and the bar seemed limited which is why I took one star away.

I don't go often, but I always have a good experience at this little restaurant. The food is always excellent and the service efficient and friendly. They are ready with suggestions if needed. I love this little place.

My family and I eat here almost every week now! The food is delicious and they're always very quick. Only complaint is that when you eat inside the restaurant itself could be a little cleaner.

Visited here for the first time a little over a week ago. This place is easy to miss especially depending on from what side you approach it. There was parking onsite. There were tables inside but I did take out. It's a very causal place. The staff person who helped me was very kind. My food was tasted very fresh. I ordered the Tom Yum Goong soup . It was more spicy than I expected. I don't mind spice but if you prefer medium to mild spice this soup may be too spicy for you. I also ordered Pad See Ew and Sweet Rice with Thai Custard. They both were pretty good too. I would visit here again and try some other dishes. The staff person said they have a page on the menu with mainly just traditional dishes. I may try one of those on my next visit.

Royal Thai is the epitome of hole in the wall. It's located kind of randomly out in Harahan. The curbside appeal is not everything (like at all), but the restaurant is welcoming and cozy once you walk in. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and the food was scrumptious. We ordered 4 different items- royal paper shrimp, tom yum goong, pad kee mow, and the basil eggplant sautéed with chicken (not pictured as I was too excited to try it and forgot to snap a picture). The shrimp came with a sauce, and it was delicious!! Not to mention how cute the presentation looked. The tom yum goong (soup dish) is perfect for a cold, muggy say. It's just sour enough with plentiful aromatics. However, if you're not a cilantro girlie like me, maybe see if you can do without. It's not too overpowering, but her presence is known. The drunken noodles were LOVELY!! The flavor and sauce and veggies did not come to play. For the sautéed eggplant with chicken, the eggplant really tied it all together as it soaked up the flavors and spices. I'd order everything again it was perfectly satisfying. Regarding price, it's not the cheapest- our 4 items were a total of $50. But definitely try this out if you're looking for authentic Thai food!!!

Crying Tiger beef and roti with curry sauce... seriously a win! I keep finding new things to enjoy here.

This is only the second time I've been here in the past three years but I used to come at least once a month. Kids...COVID... Anyway, let's start with the Boba. Little guy didn't want any real food today--just a smoothie--so he picked out the Blueberry Pineapple smoothie with Strawberry popping bobas, which we all liked. I'm more of a green-smoothies-at-home and avocado-with-black-tapioca-balls-when-I'm-out kinda guy, but this was good. We all enjoyed it as soon as he was full but until then, this typically generous kid wasn't sharing the boba tea. He liked it that much. Made with real tamarind instead of peanut butter, the chicken pad thai here is excellent. I haven't eaten out enough in the past year to rate it against other establishments, but three years ago it was the only pad thai I'd eat on the East Bank. Still good today--better than I remembered, not as good as my wife remembered, so...a wash. As good. The chicken green curry is my wife's favorite dish here and it did not disappoint. The chicken satay was not as good as it used to be. The chicken was a little tough today--it's usually delightfully moist and tender--but the flavor was still excellent, and the sweet chili sauce with fresh cucumber is amazing. Royal Thai is definitely going back into our new/old normal.

This is a little hidden gem! Small place, nice servers. Definitely recommend the Royal Thai fried rice!

The royal dip was different. Meat with type of sweet sauce on it with chips. Some of us enjoyed it. Some of us thought it was just OK but nothing special. Pad Thai was not good because it did not have any flavor to it. The noodles were good and the eggs were good, but there was just not much flavor. The green curry with chicken was very tasty And the eggplant was cooked well that was in it. Could've used more sauce and placed in a bowl with the rice on the side but very good one of the best curries I've had. The basil fried rice was very good. This was the best thing we had I believe. It was well worth the trip there, and we would go again. The lunch servings were very large. We had leftovers for everyone's plate.

I had the drunken noodles. It was pretty good. If you like spicy food, you'll probably enjoy this meal.

DINE IN: This little spot is close to where I live so I have been wanting to try it. Its a very small, unassuming restaurant located in a small building that you could easily overlook. I was greeted immediately and allowed to sit anywhere since it was still fairly early for dinner. I went for my favorite go to...Pad Thai with shrimp. It did not disappoint. The flavor was great, shrimp were a nice size, and I didn't wait long to receive it. The crowd did pick up..made me a bit nervous as I did see a couple of people walk in without masks..they appeared to be regulars..still no excuse bc there was a sign posted that saif masks were required to enter. I think next time I will opt for pick up since the food was definitely worth a return visit.

The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. The service is friendly and helpful. The ambiance is casual.

We have been coming here on a steady basis since they opened over 6 years ago. Sometimes, just my wife and I and others times with as many as a dozen friends (we always let them know when the group is that large). I have probably tried everything on the menu by now. Lately I tend to order the different curry dishes with an occasional jaunt back to the pad Thai. The food is always great. Service is spot on for a family restaurant. They have a minimal bar so they let us bring our own wine with no corkage fee. We tip well. They are happy. We are happy.

If you like spicy soup the Tom Yum Goong was sooo good, I just wish it had a little more of everything in it, especially for the price. But still it was really good.

This is now by far my fave Thai restaurant in the area. Everything we had was absolutely delicious!! We had the Royal dip, sate, egg rolls and dumplings to start and massaman curry, pad Thai, and pak see yew (?) for the entree. It was all sooo good. The curry didn't come with rice though so I'll have to make sure to order it with it next time. Very unassuming exterior, but 5 stars for food!

For starters, if you love curry, then try the Royal Dip!! I love spice and noodles, and their seafood drunken noodles and seafood pad se ew is good!!

The food is great. Yet The current phone is not updated online. The woman who works behind the counter seems to appear to be the owner and she is a bleep. Poor people skills . The food is their saving grace. UPDATE YOUR ATTITUDE & phone number.

The Pad won Sen was delicious and the staff was very accommodating and pleasant. I would recommend this place bc Thai is far and few in this location

Came here for lunch and was pretty disappointed. We must've went on a bad day because a lot of reviews said the service was quick. Sadly, it wasn't for us. Good thing we weren't on a lunch break like others around us. We were seated promptly but everything else took way too long. From ordering to the time our food were served, we must've waited an hour. We ordered a tom yum soup and fried calamari for appetizers. The soup..the soup was different. I've never tasted one like it. I took two sips and couldn't get myself to finish it. Fried calamari was ok. There were more fried garlic or onion bits than calamari itself. For entrees, we ordered a garlic and black pepper shrimp and a yellow curry lamb. Tasted nothing but black pepper on the shrimp dish. That's mainly what you see. I thought they'd cook with it, not sprinkle the entire plate with it. Well, it was much more than sprinkle. The lamb wasn't that great either. So, so disappointed. Overall, it was not worth the wait. I wish it was though.

Lunch specials are reasonably priced and good sized portions! Service was great. She recommended a spicy noodle dish and it was amazing. Pad see mow I think. I got it with chicken. Lots of chicken peppers and squash. Good heat but not too crazy.

It had been a while since I had eaten here. My last experience was not my favorite; I learned not to get the entrees with vegetables instead of meat, bc the sauces and flavors get watered down. However, I have had some great food here- namely the noodle dishes and curries. Today, my husband got the Penang curry with chicken lunch plate and I got the drunken noodle with beef lunch plate. Both were incredibly delicious. We also shared the spicy chicken wings, which were very good but needed a little more sauce. I'm glad I gave them another try, because it reminded me that they have some excellent food, and a clean setting. I will be back!

Haven't been here in a long time. Food used to be good- last 2 visits were awful. Rude service and I ordered chicken Pad Thai. I know what it should look like, as it's one of my favorites. What they brought me was in a dark brown sauce (?) and the chicken was brown. It tasted like pork, which I didn't order. I questioned it and was told ( by the owner) that the chicken they used now was too tough and what they had to marinate it in turned it brown. Eww!! Last visit for sure, even though we LOVE Thai food.

Royal Thai, which sits inconspicuously tucked in a small two-slot building near the end of the confusing Hickory-Dickory alternate universe where some streets are one-way and some "crossing-traffic does not stop", can be easy to miss. The GPS seemed to think the giant pumping station in the neutral ground served Thai. But we found it eventually, and it was worth the quest. Two curries were spot on, with generous blobs of white rice (and they'll give an extra blob if ask nicely). The steamed shrimp dumplings were sublime: fresh, not greasy, served in a steamer on a bed of basil with a light dipping sauce, and sub - lime if you actually squeeze a lime onto them. (We didn't and they were still sublime). Drunken noodles with tofu was perfectly prepared, the tofu cubes crisp outside and marshmallow-ey inside. The Thai tea was described as "not to sweet" but I might as well have asked my fifth grader that question; be ready for cream and sugar if you get it (it's delicious, but pretty heavy). "Hot" means "nice kick" here, and for all of us, the heat level was optimal. Those who prefer hotter can probably get it. Service was prompt, though it did get a little delayed when we were looking for the check. My party ended up sitting next to friends we had not seen for a decade. The conversation was excellent but I must confess my attention drifting a bit to ogle their dishes, as they looked as good as ours. (I regret not asking for a taste). This Thai ranks with the more famous places located mostly Uptown. Highly recommended.

Royal Thai is in a tiny strip thats easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Tom Yum soup was horrible, didn't even eat it. Eggrolls were tiny and meh, I wouldnt order again. Pad Thai was really good. Its more wet than most I have had but I prefer it that way. Medium spice had the perfect amount of heat. I got shrimp and added vegetables for an extra $2. Husband got beef curry and was happy with that as well. I would recommend it if you're in the area,

Came here Friday night for dinner. Got the Royal Thai dip. Love it. Light fluffy "chips". Also had the curry puff. Make sure you have room for that. You'll want to eat that all but need to save room for the entree. Honey Basil Crispy- fish. So delicious! The fish was fried but so light and moist. Love the crispy basil leaves! The sauce was just sooo sooo good. Not sure where to find the words. I'll be sure to remember for the future.

So the first time I came here I had a great experience but I ordered again from them last night and it was like I ordered from a completely different restaurant. We got the honey basil chicken again. The portion was much smaller and there was no chicken. It was literally just fried breading (see photos). We took a couple of bites and had to throw it away. It also looked really different from the first time I ordered it. So I still like this place because of how good it was the first time I went, but I'm definitely more skeptical now because of the inconsistency.

We really like this place. My girlfriend has eaten here for years I'm new to it and Thai food. Sorry I have no pictures to provide but the food tends to start disappearing as the boxes start opening at the house!! The inside is such a cute little dinner date spot and yes the inside is open for dine in. The staff is so sweet and happy you're there whether for pickup or dining in. We may need to get Thai tonight now that I'm sitting here talking about it. ha

Definitely the best tasting and best-priced Thai place in the Greater New Orleans. I drive here all the way from downtown to get some pad thai and spicy basil fried rice at the random Thai place in Harahan. Their spicy basil fried rice is bomb. I order this dish almost every time I go. Sometimes I order this dish with pineapple because I really want pineapple fried rice but with a spicy kick. Other great dishes are the basil eggplant chicken, the stuffed chicken wings, and the pad woon sen. I normally get the pad woon sen with extra noodles. Sometimes it ends up not salty enough because of the extra noodles, but just ask for the chili fish sauce and you will be set! The sauce that comes with the wings is so good... You will want a whole plate for yourself. The thai tea has a bit too much milk and not enough tea, but it is definitely tasty. I would honestly just order anything and everything!

This is another great little spot kinda tucked away in Harahan. The food is excellent fresh and tasty. Take out is a piece of cake and it's always right and fast. The Pad Thai is a win as is the Panaeng Curry!

Royal Thai has easily become my favorite restaurant in New Orleans! The food is consistently amazing (haven't had a meal that I didn't love), the prices are affordable, and the people working are always the sweetest! Seriously...the woman always remembers me and what I order AND even reminded me what foods I saw that I wanted the last time I visited (over a month ago). While the first time I tried Royal Thai I mentioned that my food wasn't as spicy as I would have liked (see original post), that has not been an issue since. If you want your food spicy, just make sure you clarify that you want it really really spicy! However, the flavors are so spot on that I sometimes will just let them make it milder just to get the rich flavors they add in to each dish. My favorites: Drunken noodles with chicken Green or red curry with chicken Honey chicken (fried chicken in this delicious sauce) Lunch specials that are huge portions for around $10?!?!?! Yeah, Royal Thai is located in a strip mall and the atmosphere is plain but the food is so good you'll forget all of that. SERIOUSLY give Royal Thai a chance! You won't regret it Food - 5 stars Price - 4.5 stars Service - 5 stars Atmosphere - 3 stars

Hands down my favorite Thai place! Great portion sizes & amazing flavors, plus the prices are reasonable.

Best Drunken noodles I've had! Had the orange cake for dessert and t'was delicious and not over sweet and also melt to your mouth! I like the idea that they pulled the chicken wings meat to one pole so it is easier to hold. And the sauce is perfect.

This review is based off of my first dine in experience which I have never knew this place existed. I came with a few family members that have been here and they ordered the different dishes that they recommended. Everything came out fairly quick and fresh. Thai food is known for their spice and curry flavors which were on point at this restaurant. All of the food came out fresh, hot and very flavorful. It was about 5 of us together which came out to be about $125 all together which was a typical dinner meal which included a few drinks. I haven't tried any of the dessert items due to being stuffed from dinner, but will definitely stop by this place again when I'm feeling like thai food.

This little gem is serving fresh Thai food done right. Today we both had our favorite, Thai Basil Eggplant. Served piping hot with shrimp, succulent tender eggplant, and tons of fresh vegetable. Not sure what the sauce is but its a perfect mixture of sweet and spicy. Give it a try you won't be disappointed

Overall very impressed with my experience at Royal Thai. The interior was pretty dated but clean. The staff was all super friendly and good at their jobs. The service was astonishing fast, you can tell they have been through a rush hour or two. I sat down and ordered shrimp pad thai. It was brought out within 8 minutes hot and fragrant. The shrimp were large count and cooked perfectly. I strongly recommend asking for and adding some Thai chili oil to your meal, it will add yet another great flavor to an already complex dish. Literally as I finish my last bite and pushed my plate away, the check was delivered and after eating I was paid and out the door within 2 minutes. I was not rushed but it was quick and efficient service. I'll be back again soon to try some other great looking dishes off the menu!

Lots of flavor , my favorite is the chicken curry with green sauce, their wings are best if spicy . The restaurant is small but clean and service is quick . You can ask for the curry to be more spicy if you want .

My husband and i tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago and it was awesome!!! a good meal and good boba tea! Yes please! i gave 4 stars because i didnt think the menu had a large selection but the food was GREAT!

This is probably one of the best Thai places I've ever been to. We called ahead and they said order would be ready in 20 minutes. When we arrived, they're doing all the proper precautions and having a person wearing a mask come out to the car and deliver the food and ring up the check. Unfortunately there were no utensils or napkins in the bag and we were never asked if we wanted them. I got my favorite Thai dish, the Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodle) with pork, and the girlfriend got Royal Thai Red Curry with chicken. The first impression for the drunken noodles was a bit jarring for two reasons. First, it's sad to see a one-item dish squished into a side of a three compartment to-go box leaving the other two compartments empty. I wish they had a one compartment to-go box and just filled the entire thing with noodles. Secondly, the dish had bunch of yellow squash and zucchini which was not listed in the menu. They seemed to fit in with the dish, but they're not my favorite vegetables. I don't know if these are standard ingredients or they go by what's best for the season, but if they list some vegetables in the menu description, they either should list all of them or say that there are items that may be variable. Those disappointments went away very quickly though, because the thick flat noodles were just coated with flavor. The spicy basil sauce is so deliciously oily and saucy and it has just enough heat that builds up with time but never to the point of being unpleasant or detracting from the flavor. The pork was perfectly cooked and juicy and soaked up the sauce, complementing the dish with its savoriness. The curry came with rice on the side which was considerate. It had all the perfect variety of vegetables for curry including real bamboo shoots. You can tell they must have these vegetables fresh on hand and made to order. Each spoonful of curry is just packed with deep savory coconut taste and a pleasant amount of spice. My girlfriend also said that she can't fathom how they cook the chicken because it's so tender. I strongly recommend that everyone try this place if they ever have the slightest desire to try Thai food. Even with my minor gripes about the to-go box and surprise vegetables, this place deserves five stars for the quality and flavor of their food.

I've been obsessed with pad Thai lately, this might've put an end to that. I was out and about with my friend and thought this might be a good place to try. I walked in, the ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. We also made it just in time for their lunch special! I scanned the menu, checking out all the options (even though I knew my mind was set on veggie pad Thai). Within 10 minutes of ordering, that hot steaming plate was making its way to my table. My friend had ordered the eggplant basil. I began salivating over his once I took a whiff of my own entree. Let's start off by saying what was right about this dish --free eggroll and cooked in a timely manner. That's where it ends. What was wrong: immediately I noticed a catlike smell coming from my noodles. My appetite quickly went away. Veggies were rather hard. I asked for spicy, tasted sooooo bland. I attempted to add Sriracha and soy sauce. Did. Not. Help. I figured I didn't wanna waste it so I packed it up to go and threw it in the fridge. Moral of this story, if you're gonna order the pad thai from here, it's best you prepare to eat it cold! I might try this spot again but I certainly won't order the pad Thai. This place simply gets 3 stars for the eggplant basil being so freaking good!

This is the best Thai place in the burbs around NOLA that I've yet experienced and certainly the best in Jefferson Parish. The drunken noodles were good but not as good as the ones I've had at La Thai and Sukho Thai in the city limits. The Thai chicken coconut soup was good but could've used a bit more spice for my palate. Overall I would say this is one of the best places to eat in the Elmwood area and among the top Asian restaurants in Jefferson Parish.

Food is good as to be expected. But they take a long time. I called in an order and they said it would take about 25 minutes. When I got there they said an extra 10 minutes. Which then turned into an extra 20 minutes..Love the royal dip though. But expect to be waiting.

So good! A great hidden gem. The pad tai is delicious but I recently discovered their mango rice which was AMAZING. please get it! And the fried banana dessert Is delicious too! Never had a bad meal from there

A THAI PLACE IN HARAHAN?!?! YEP, I'M THERE!! Got my taste buds going y'all! It's a little tucked away from the main Elmwood crowd so you may have missed this gem. Service was phenomenal, fast and friendly and the restaurant was very clean. Great lunch spot! I came in right at lunch time on a weekend and it wasn't overly crowded. Good for friends meeting up, couples enjoying a quick lunch before heading out to Elmwood or even bringing your kids for a meal. Food is your general thai food with specialty drinks as well!

OMG, run away! If you've ever eaten (real) Thai food, this place will be a serious disappointment. Bright LED lights (which impart a very noticeable and unpleasant green/yellow cast to everything on the table) and big screen TVs going full tilt on the wall start you off on the wrong foot. Who wants to watch the news while eating out?? Then you notice a constant, very loud hum/thrum of some kitchen machinery (ventilator, perhaps?) that completely ruins any chance of atmosphere. :-( As for the food, our appetizers tasted like they'd had dish soap added to them. The coconut shrimp was dreadful, devoid of flavor beyond the sweetness of the sauce. My Royal Wonton (shrimp) soup tasteless, not to mention visually boring, with a few leaves of spinach and one big lump of fake crab floating in it. The veggie Royal Basil dish came out so spicy as to be practically inedible (the heat level ruined it completely; I had to trade with my dining partner). Whereas the Pad Thai I had ordered was sickly sweet and colored a bright red** that could only come from food dye (why??). Won't be back. I feel sorry for folks in Harahan not having any other options than this place. **UPDATE: I wrote this review *before* looking at the photos others had previously shared, and can assure you... the food we saw being served, including ours, looked NOTHING like what you see here. Not even close. My Pad Thai lacked any of the veggies/sprouts shown. Is this restaurant under new management?

We always get the Thai spicy fried rice. Best Thai food in Nola area. Quality has stayed intact over the last year, pre and post covid.

Really good place overall. Very small family owner type feel to it. I was greeted promptly as I entered and given a menu. Menu was simple and pretty easy to make a decision. Ordered the steamed dumplings for appetizer and the chicken pad Thai for main entree. Dumplings came out fast. Probably within 10ish minutes. Played simple with 5 dumplings. Great flavor and texture to them. On to the Chicken pad Thai. I asked for medium spicy (I looooove spicy food) and it had some heat but was not overwhelming. Added some great flavor to the dish overall. Overall great experience. Great food!

This has certainly become one of my favorites spots to hit up for lunch. Lunch portions comes with a spring roll and are very reasonably priced for the portions. The Pad Thai is pretty awesome. I've only tried it with shrimp, but I'm sure it's the same across the board. It's a classic and they do it well. A little stingy on the amount of shrimp though. I've also had the Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles). I've had it with shrimp and steak. It's certainly better with the steak because it has more of a beef base. This is probably my favorite dish I've had yet. The only complaint I have is that the consistency of spiciness to the dishes varies. I've had it either perfect, or unbearably spicy. I like a bit of heat to my food. But I'm looking for flavor heat. Not "try to burn the lining of your stomach" heat. Service is also very good.
