"This minimalist Japanese chocolate shop actually has three locations in Manhattan, including Bryant Park and Madison Avenue—each one tinier and more compact than the next. Founded in Sapporo, their specialty is Nama Chocolate, a box of creamy rectangles dusted with cacao and arranged to geometric perfection. They make an unusual and always-appreciated hostess gift."

Royce chocolates are legendary in Japan and this location has been serving the neighborhood with a wide assortment of melt in your mouth morsels of chocolaty goodness for over 10 years. The selection in this shop is more than you’ll encounter returning from Narita airport duty-free, which is always a favorite takeaway for my family when leaving Japan. The taste is unique, creamy & just simply amazing. If you’re near Bryant park do yourself a favor & stop by this shop across the street on the south side of the park. Your tastebuds will thank you! If you’re not wanting it in the house just get yourself one of the delectable free samples. Yes, free samples! No judgement here! The staff was kind & helpful, and the shop clean & bright. See my photos.

The staff were very nice and friendly. This was my first time here. They have a good selection of chocolate. I got matcha and champagne flavored today. They were both delicious. It was silky and had a very nice consistency. It melts in moth nice and slowly. I had a great time shopping here and had an even better time savoring it at home. Highly recommended!

Cute shop with good use of space! The chocolates are really delicious and I love how they have seasonal options available. I really enjoy the chocolate covered potato chips and the Nama chocolate is SOOO creamy. Camille was so nice on my visit and showed me around the shop highlighting all kinds of tasty items and sampling delicious treats as well. I picked up a seasonal box of chocolate and pistachio cream bears, white chocolate fromage covered chips, and chocolate covered chips. I love how if you purchase the Nama chocolate they will put it in a cooler bag for you to travel with. Looking for a a unique and tasty gift or wanting to treat yourself? This is the way to go!

A friend brought me here for my first time in NYC. Really nice boutique chocolate shop that specializing in chocolate from Japan. They infuse all sorts of flavors and the one I tried was Oolong- it was delicious and creamy. The staff were friendly and they had samples out which was nice. It’s a small, very straightforward niche kind of place if you like gourmet chocolate. It is pricier but definitely worth it if you like high quality made chocolates.

From the moment I walked in, this was an incredible experience. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, and they gave us several quite large samples of chocolates to try. They are special chocolate is made with milk from Hokkaido, Japan. It’s incredibly soft, anything, requiring refrigeration her, but Doray, if you purchase this chocolate, they will give you a complementary, special bag to keep it refrigerated. We got to try a macho, white chocolate, a milk, chocolate with champagne, and 62% dark chocolate. Let me preface this by saying those three samples were easily the best chocolate pieces I’ve ever had. This store is the real deal, and yes, while their price is a little expensive, it is completely worth it. Overall, this is an absolute must if you want to have an incredible chocolate experience.

*I was able to experience ROYCE as part of a Yelp event and this review is based off of that experience. * I had a really great experience at ROYCE a few days ago! It was a little hidden so just pay attention to where you are at so you don’t miss it! The girl who worked with me was super friendly and explained all about their chocolates. I got to sample 3 kinds (a matcha, milk, and dark) of chocolates. Honestly, I usually hate dark chocolate but this was one was really good! The milk was still definitely my favorite but I was surprised with how much I liked the dark. The chocolate was served cold and it was so creamy. I was also given a gift bag with chocolate to take home which was so nice. They also had other items for sale like chocolate covered chips, and cookies. Unfortunately I was on my way to another event and it was a really hot day so I wasn’t able to grab anything extra but I will definitely be back to get something!

Update : I visited this store again and had another bad experience. The staff seem to have little knowledge about the products they sell and consistently provide conflicting information each time I visit. I'm not sure if management has changed, but they are even asking for tips despite the poor service. This brand has been my favorite since childhood, and I have been a loyal customer for many years. I understand that today is a particularly busy day, but I feel that hiring part-time staff like the tall lady I encountered may not be the best decision. She was quite pushy and did not allow me to take my time choosing properly. As a result, I felt pressured and ended up purchasing something without being fully confident in my choice. I can only hope that the recipient will like it. As a Japanese brand, I believe customer service should always be a top priority. I kindly ask that you provide better training for your staff to ensure that all customers can enjoy a comfortable and satisfying shopping experience.

It's been a while I went to Bryant Park & was little difficult finding the place. Altho my son always saying I am so bad at directions lol..! But the long commute & finding the time to visit this place was an amazing experience! Thank you so much for organizing this event & inviting ME . And thank you Royce for your warm welcome & hospitality! What a delight was it to visit Royce today. I get to sample 3 of their Nama chocolate . My most fav was the dark chocolate, second favorite was the Mocha one; yum! I did asked her about the quantity of alcohol portion in their chocolates & get to know it's 1% , so as per my knowledge it's ok for me to eat. That was such a great thing to know. Beautiful girl named Aria was so nice & patient answering all my curiosity I might say! She was so knowledgeable & respectful ! I ended up learning so much about chocolates lol! I will surely be back ! I have also learned that their are some chocolates which needs to be refrigerated because they loose the texture in hot weather. So if you live far like me & have a long commute then buy accordingly! And yes you guys know me, have to take some pictures for the memories!

Yelp
Royce is the best!!! Japan-made sweets and Japan-level service. Royce chocolates are super delicious, come in many flavors with Japanese ingredients, and make great gifts. They also have a bunch of different snacks, like the baton cookies (delicious!!!) When you buy Royce chocolate, they come with a coldpack to prevent the chocolate ganache from melting -- super convenient for carrying purchases on the go. Very easy to pop in and out to purchase some chocolates. Small store but should be pretty straightforward to get what you need. Believe they also do sampling if you're inclined. Personal recommendations are the batons and the matcha nam chocolates, though I've seen those sell out really quick here

Yelp
Was there when Royce had a sampling ! We had four different samples: liquor free nama chocolate, a champagne nama chocolate, a sakura nama chocolate, and then a chocolate covered macadamia nut. All were delicious and highly recommended! I scored a gift bag and liked the treats in it too. Can't go wrong here. Definitely worth a visit!!!

Yelp
Perfect place to pick up gifts to bring home. Located right in the entrance of a hotel to the left. Love this little shop.

Yelp
Really convenient location in case you need a gift before hopping on the train. It's pretty small inside so it feels uncomfortable to loiter too long, but they pack the space with a lot of variety. Theres sometimes samples of chocolate for you to taste. The chocolate is good and the packaging is cute. They also have fun holiday themed sets. They make really cute housewarming gifts.
google avatar

Yelp
This is only location location left open in NYC and the most frequented. Friendly staff who is there to help answer any questions one may have before purchasing items. Was there to get a gift and deciding between sets. Decided on a nice gift set and while I was there, the in-store special was spend $50+ and get their selected Nama chocolate Kokutoh (with rum). It was delicious! All the nama chocs need to be kept cold so they packed with ice pack that last 3 hours for the commute home. So many choices in the store and new items that are seasonal, have to come back to check. If you're not already signed up with Royce to earn rewards, make sure to do so!

Yelp
What a great choice today to go inside. Plenty of choices of different varieties of chocolates!

Yelp
If you are a chocolate connoisseur (self proclaimed or otherwise) do not miss out on the event to taste some high quality confections decadence. Stephanie greeted me and checked me in before escorting me to their tasting area set up a few steps away. The store is tiny. Probably the size of your average Manhattan studio if not smaller. The chocolates are displayed on shelves and coolers for quick and easy access to the inventory of the day so best in mind that items do sell out. There is also no overwhelming sweet fragrance that bombards the senses like when you walk into a candy store. The presentation was akin to a mini wine tasting where history, flavor and textures are noted and explained. The information was very appreciated. I might be exaggerating but this chocolate is heavenly. It's not overly sweet. The way it melts and glides around your tastebuds is an experience if you let yourself have it. This is not the kind of treat you pop into your mouth. This chocolate is meant to be savored. Stephanie was kind, thorough, and open to answer my various questions with ease. She knew this craft very well as did Camille, the other presenter, who was busy assisting some walk-in traffic. The chocolate here is luxurious. I came away with a swag bag to accompany my additional purchases--a full box each of what I tasted and a Variety gift box for my partner. Money well spent.

Yelp
Very fun experience. For some biased opinions of mine, I thought ROYCE was a European chocolate chain. Boy, was I wrong, and they educated me. I learned, through this collaborative experience with Yelp and Royce, that the root of ROYCE is actually from Japan. They import their chocolate from all over the world but it's really their preparations I believe that sets them apart. They also also known for their Nama chocolate, which I got to taste in store. They pulled it out of the fridge and I was very surprised to find the texture delicate and soft. Because normally chocolate is often harden once put in the fridge. The matcha flavor was so good, it reminded me of a really good cup of matcha milk tea. It's divine, I almost wanted to ask for more but felt embarrassed. Long story short, this is the only ROYCE in Manhattan. It is tucked inside of a commercial building in front of Bryan Park. It's cute and they have a variety of chocolates, including chocolate chips (not their most popular product), and teas! At the end of the experience, I brought a bar for my friend, who hosts game nights at Bryan Park. He later texted me and told me ROYCE is his favorite chocolate.

Yelp
VERY hidden hole in the whole DESPITE being in the central location right on Bryant park! This is a Japanese chocolate shop that has a few branches in the states. The flavors are spectacularly delicate yet pungent and unique. I'm not a white chocolate person normally but their staple Matcha white chocolate is divine and melts in your mouth. The seasonal strawberry cheese flavor was shockingly delicious as well. I'm a dark chocolate person through and through, but the 50/50 chocolate really perfect for anyone. Definitely recommend checking out this shop and trying something yummy!

Yelp
4.0 / 5.0 ROYCE' famous for its Nama chocolates. I attended an event in collaboration with Yelp elite that is being held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the company's founding! The number one most popular Nama chocolate is blended with a generous amount of fresh cream from Hokkaido, it is as smooth as silk. Pure Chocolate is a chocolate that has been carefully selected for its ingredients and shape. Bite-sized and easy to eat. I was given a plate of dark chocolate as a souvenir. The staff politely explains the differences between the products! Recommended as a small souvenir! The entrance of the store is not facing the street,Be careful, there is an entrance after you enter the building!
google avatar

Eugene C.

Yelp
I first came upon Royce from a grab and go type Yelp Elite Event in 2023 where you were able to sample some of their chocolates that were refrigerated and were given a few items as a gift bag that I shared with some people who loved them. The store definitely feels like a unique experience. It feel like you're being guided by an expert on their products like in the manner a sommelier would for trying wine. Anyway, the chocolate that I sampled were so good since that Yelp Elite visit, I have bought it as gifts for loved ones. Their chocolate is definitely high quality and is not too sweat but very rich. And they incorporate a variety of different and interesting food items into their chocolate. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the store front is a pretty compact tucked away space but it is in Midtown right by Bryant Park, so not that surprising given how expensive retail rent can be in that area. I am glad to have been introduced to Royce from that Yelp Elite Event as it is definitely my go to for if I am purchasing fancy chocolates. I would definitely recommend you check it out.

Yelp
Love the chocolates here. They are chocolates you will not be able to taste any where else and the best part, they offer samples. The sales people are very knowledgeable and will give you space to shop but also will answer any questions you may have including providing recommendations. I would give them five stars, but the price is high for some of the chocolates so careful you could end up spending more than you'd like just because you want to try or have them all. Tip: you can never go wrong with the chocolate covered potato chips. I could eat the whole box!
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
Really nice chocolate store that has an array of different products that are made in Hokkaido! The staff is very friendly here and can help you find what you need. There are also a few samples in the store. My boyfriend was able to get several gifts for his dad that would be perfect. They can package certain chocolates in wrapping for free that ensures it stays cool.
google avatar

Kelly Y.

Yelp
My mom loves the chocolate here so if I'm in the area, I always stop by to pick her up something. Have absolutely no complaints.. everything they produce is so good. The storefront is kind of hard to locate.. located into a little building to the left but once you get in, staff are so friendly and will help you if you need recommendations. They also offer gift wrapping so that's great and convenient for the holidays!

Yelp
I visited Royce as part of a Yelp Elite event and I'm so lucky that I had that opportunity!! I absolutely had a great time during the demo (the chocolate was unbelievable). I also received some samples and walked away with a goodie bag that came with a full size chocolate bar, some stickers, pins, and yelp chopsticks!! Next time I need to buy a nice gift for someone, I'm definitely coming here to spread the news about Royce's chocolates!

Yelp
This is a delightful chocolate store in Bryant Park! They have amazing chocolates made in Japan. It's rich but not too sweet. The woman who worked at the shop was ever so pleasant and showed us around and introduced us to the variety of chocolates they carry. Loved the chocolate chips! Simple, clean store but welcoming! What to choose is the hardest decision. Love the chocolate bear treats! Too cute! Don't forget some of the chocolates need to be refrigerated. But all delicious!!!

Yelp
Love ROYCE chocolate it melts in your mouth I've gotten a chance to taste the champagne chocolate and the chips chocolate. The store is tiny and cute, is located in the lobby of the apartment building. The packaging of the products are so colorful. We ended up buying 3 boxes of chocolate. Not too mention how they packed your chocolate was amazing, very thoughtful (see the photos)

Yelp
If you've ever tried Royce's chocolates then you know that perfect melt-in-your-mouth consistency....that perfectly smooth, creamy texture that feels like you dipped your tongue in a silky chocolate fondue. The store space at this location is small, a box of a room located on the first floor of a building facing the southern edge of Bryant Park. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Walls are lined with shelves featuring different chocolate bars, gift boxes/sets, chocolate covered cookies, biscuits, and potato chips. The center display showcases their famous nama style chocolates in various flavors--their dark chocolate, matcha, strawberry champagne are some of my favorite flavors. They have seasonal limited editions like liquor (bourbon/whisky) flavors which I haven't tried but look intriguing. My only couple gripes are that 1) there are artificial flavors listed on the ingredients list, compared with some other high end chocolatiers who only use natural ingredients. 2) to maintain the integrity of the chocolate because of the high milk/cream content, their top line Nama chocolate specifically (not all their chocolates) must be kept chilled and has a fairly short best by consumption date of within two weeks. The latter while a bit inconvenient, I don't mind as much because real ingredients equals real expiration dates, but the artificial flavors on some of their offerings does bug me a little. Like I get the strawberry champagne flavor is probably difficult to maintain consistency without the artificial ingredients, but other flavors I would not expect this to be an issue. Overall it wouldn't stop me from purchasing the chocolate, but just a small peeve of mine.

Yelp
I came across Royce's chocolates during a food and wine festival many years ago, and they instantly became one of my favorite chocolate brands. I've tried a variety of flavors and some of my favs are the matcha green tea chocolate, Nama champagne chocolate and the Nama white chocolate. I also love how sweet their dark chocolates are. They taste just as delicious as the milk chocolate versions. Royce chocolates are my go-to as an after-dinner dessert, especially when I am hosting a dinner party. They are rich and decadent and always a hit!
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
This location is not as visible as their flagship store on Madison. Since this location doesn't have a sign, this store is only visible through a window. You enter an apartment main door and go to the left to enter the store. It is across the street from Bryant Park. While talking to the employee, I found out 3 out of the 4 stores were closed. This is the only location left in Manhattan. That is sad to learn. The employees are very welcoming and can help you make a recommendation depending on your preferences. I know the recipient loves milk chocolate so I decided to get a mild nama chocolate. Each piece is a small rectangular treat size though don't let the size fool you since it's rich, decadent, and smooth. The nama chocolate needs to be refrigerated so it comes with a little cooler bag and ice pack. If it's a gift, they help you wrap up the chocolate and cooler bag which is a nice presentation. There were gift sets so that would be a great idea in the future. There is also jelly and potato chip covered chocolate. Love to give the Royce chocolate as a gift
google avatar

Eric F.

Yelp
The ROYCE store is kind of hidden away just within a building on the perimeter of Bryant Park, but it is a neat shop nonetheless. The store is pretty small, but it has a good selection of chocolates as well as variety of chocolate products (chocolate covered potato chips for example) and seasonal selections. What's great and unique (well somewhat?) is how nice, creamy, and just sweet enough their chocolate is. Whether it's the matcha, dark chocolate, champagne, etc. The employees are also very nice, positive and informative. Overall, cool to checkout and bonus points for its view of the park.
google avatar

Andie B.

Yelp
I have passed by this location often when I worked in the area but never realized it was a chocolate store. The store is located through a huge ornate door and then it's on the left of another store. The store is a bit smaller than expected and it was stocked filled with yummy treats. There were two people on staff and two customers browsing. However, the store didn't feel crowded. Their namas chocolates were delicious and very creamy. They need to be kept in the fridge and they provide a freezer bag and ice pack if you are buying. I was surprised on how much I enjoyed their matcha nama chocolate. It was creamy and not very bitter. The staff was very friendly and eager to assist.
google avatar

Rusty R.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and let me tell you, the Nama Dark Chocolate is to DIE for. Melts in your mouth, and has so much cream in it that you need to keep it refrigerated. Decadent, sinful, pick your adjective but it's something else. More of a fudge than an piece of chocolate
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
I love this location! Location is great, sales reps are good with suggestions & the quality is always on point with the chocolate!

Yelp
did some holiday gift shopping at Royce in 2023--ended up buying a variety of unique chocolate products. high-quality chocolates and other confections from Hokkaido, Japan. if you are looking for a premium chocolate product, Royce has you covered. ended up picking picking up a few things like the chocolate potato chips and a variety of premium chocolate bars. it's a very small space located in the lobby of West 40th St building. the small space is very neat, clean, and organized--very easy to shop. the Royce staffer i spoke with was very knowledgeable about chocolate and helped me make some gift choices as well as gift-wrapped my purchases. a pleasant experience in the din and mayhem of holiday madness in NYC.
google avatar

Yelp
This is our second time coming here; their chocolates are fantastic, and they have a great selection of flavors. Just like last time around, we ended up getting a whole bunch of items, including their Nama Islay Whisky, Nama Matcha, and a few Rum Raisin bars. They're a bit difficult to spot if you're in the area, but well worth it if you know what you're looking for!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
I always forget how much I LOVE Royce chocolates. This location is no exception. I tried the dark cocoa and matcha nama chocolate. Both chocolates just melt in your mouth. They have such a strong flavor but they're not too sweet. The chilliness adds to the experience. Incredibly high quality chocolates. Service was sweet!
google avatar

Dayo E.

Yelp
Been to Royce a few times now and gotten amazing service every time. The chocolate is obviously amazing and speaks for itself. Plus it's a nice little shop that's a little hard to find but worth it once you're in.
google avatar

Richa T.

Yelp
The staff here is really knowledgeable about their chocolates. Everything is made with dairy product from Hakkaido which is an region in Japan that is really well known for their dairy. They also are famous for their "Nama" which means fresh in Japanese. These are supposed to be melt in your mouth. I tried a few of these and they were just okay. I wouldn't recommend buying tons of these. Maybe a box and share it with a bunch of your friends? The ones I really liked though were their Spring collection. The Pistachio Teddy Bears and the cherry blossom coins were absolutely beautiful. IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
So glad I found out about this place. The chocolates are delightful and have since a unique flavor/texture. The staff is friendly and funny sharing their love of the product. If you like unique flavored chocolates I'd recommend stopping in here.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
The staff here are really nice and super knowledgable on the chocolates! I was helped by Aria and she made helpful recommendations based on my likes of dark chocolate and dislikes of white of chocolate! The namas dark chocolate is melt in your mouth and the chocolate covered chip is the perfect mid of sweet and savory! Also I got a box of bitter chocolates and one of a variety of dark chocolates. If you're in the area, pop in and try their tasty treats!
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
It seems that so much in the gourmet chocolate world is about the marketing - creating an allure that focuses on quality ingredients, superior cacao and techniques. Royce does this exceedingly well and it works on me - I love the look of the Japanese aesthetic with so much attention to detail down to packing your purchase in a custom ice pack and thermal bag to protect the chocolate from temperature changes and melting. All of this means nothing if the chocolate tastes like dookie, but it doesnt. Quite the opposite. I was gifted a box of "bitter" Nama chocolate. 20 identically sized rectangles of cocoa powder coated chocolate perfection. It simply melts in your mouth with incredibly balanced and smooth chocolate heaven. Royce is must visit any time I am in the Bryant Park area.
google avatar

Holly S.

Yelp
I'm kind of a snob when it comes to ice cream and chocolates. I have tasted chocolate from a lot of the good brands and stores but the chocolate from Royce has the most amazing creaminess that I've not encountered before. The Nama chocolate (which is what they're known for) has several different flavors including champagne. They have a matcha flavor that is very unique and made with white chocolate. I have been here a couple times and yesterday I decided to stop in because I was craving the chocolate covered potato chips. And as luck would have it, I received a box of the bitter chocolate chips because I spent over a certain amount on my purchases. The service is excellent and they are always offering samples of selected products to try. The store is clean and well organized. I highly recommend giving their delicious chocolate a try.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
I love Royce's chocolate. The quality has always remained top notch. The (matcha) Nama Chocolate is my go to purchase. All the nama chocolate are decadent without being heavy. The closest resemblance is high quality amazing bon bon chocolates. Any of their products would be perfect gifts to give to asian parents who prefer desserts that aren't too sweet. They have variety boxes with crackers, cookies, and chocolates that would pair very nicely with tea. The location isn't the easiest and they would probably do better in a more visible spot but it is across from Bryant park (right now there's scaffolding over it) and just a few doors down from Lady M. You do have to go up a few steps where it's connected to a hotel and it's on the left side of the door.
google avatar

Avery D.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Royce. I went with a Yelp elite for a chocolate tasting. We got to try the nama chocolates which were SO soft and buttery. Some of the best chocolate I've ever had. Never had anything with a texture like that. Ashley was the worker walking us through the tasting and she was so fun and kind. You can tell she loves working there! Will definitely go back for the nama chocolates... SO GOOD!
google avatar

Erika P.

Yelp
My coworker introduced me to this store about a year ago and it has been my guilty pleasure ever since. Although the prices are a little high, it's always worth splurging once you take a bite out of the chocolate from here. The bars are around around $8 and pretty large compared to American chocolate bars. They are super smooth tasting and I have yet to try a flavor I don't like. The "nama" chocolate is melt in your mouth good and I really enjoy the matcha flavor. These have to be kept in the freezer but they provide special packaging if you aren't heading straight home. The staff is always super helpful and I've never had to wait on any lines here. During the peak of covid they were doing counter service only but when I went back today the actual store was open for me to browse. They also have amazing gift sets here and have a website you can order from as well. Highly recommend!

Nina C.

Yelp
Chocolate here is delicious. The flavoring is great and the chocolate just melts in your mouth. I could eat this all day every day! The staffs are also super knowledgeable about their chocolate and are very nice. They will help you find a product that you will like! Will definitely be returning for more.

Yelp
I swear, the box of chocolates pictured was full just a few short days ago - but as you can see I've had trouble keeping my hands off. Was first introduced to Royce' thru a friend from Japan who gifted us a box from their Nama line. My husband and I each devoured our first square, and within moments our eyeballs widened in disbelief and took up half of our faces in the most cartoon-like way. It was THAT good! Just melted right on your tongue with this rich, silky, creamy flavor that's not overly sweet but *just sweet enough.* Wow. Needless to say, that first box hardly lasted - it never stood a chance. Before long, I was staring wistfully at the empty Royce' box, and couldn't help but google the company in search of my perfect chocolatey fix. I thought I'd have to order internationally, but was absolutely DELIGHTED to learn they have a shop right by Bryant Park! Guys... their Nama line, and the Au Lait flavor specifically, is literal perfection. So now we're on box #2, and I think it's safe to say that Royce' has pretty instantly earned a spot as a staple item in our household. I try hard to savor it and allow myself just one square a day as a special indulgence, but be warned that this chocolate WILL call out to you and demand you eat more. And more. Yes... it's true. Just give in, it's worth it.

Yelp
Two words: nama chocolate. This refrigerated chocolate tastes like the inside of a chocolate truffle. A few years ago, I had their cherry blossom nama chocolate which was a beautiful light pink white chocolate base. I didn't see it during my recent visits but you can't go wrong with any nama chocolate, but I highly recommend the matcha and bitters kinds.

Yelp
I came in with the intention of buying a gift box, but I was not greeted by any of the customer service workers. When I walked in, no one greeted me or even said hello, despite there being 2 workers and only 1 customer at the store. I know they saw me because it's a small store. They just stared me down like I couldn't afford anything and was about to rob them. When a different customer came in, they were warmly greeted and were assisted to find what they were looking for. I spoke up and asked to know the differences among the boxes but they just gave me a piece of paper with the differences. The other customers had someone explain the differences. Was it because I looked young, dressed casually, and was a male person of color while the non-POC got full service? I love your chocolates and buy them often in Arcadia, CA. But after going to this location, I don't know if I'll buy your chocolates again because it reminds me of this very negative customer experience. I was pressed with time so I ended up buying an $80 gift box, but this will be the last time.

Yelp
My experience started out at Tangram in flushing where Royce had an event. From all the crowds and sampling different flavors with my friend eventually we checked out but we're given the wrong chocolate "mild" instead of "bitter". Meanwhile we had spoke with the staff about our preference of bitter since the mild was too sweet. He agreed with us and we went on to check out. To be fair, I did not confirm to see which chocolate was given or looked on the screen before giving my card. Therefore, it was partially my fault. I did not realize I was given the wrong chocolate until I got home. Then I had a text to give feedback/review so I explained what had happened. I honestly did not expect a reply back, then phone calls regarding the incident. Eugene on the phone was so patient with me, we spoke for a while because he wanted to make sure I will receive the right replacement. When I met Eugene in person, he was so personable, the store was so meticulous neat showcasing different products. He again was so apologetic meanwhile it was not his fault. Royce, staff like Eugene is irreplaceable, excellent with his customer service, I thank him for his patience and I am grateful for my replacement chocolate.

Yelp
My boyfriend brought me home these delicious goodies. I was so excited to try because one who doesn't love chocolate! Secondly I'm a pastry chef so I like to try different flavors. At the very least the rum raisin with real rum was good it, it just might be dangerous. I didn't want to put the bar down. The macadamia covered chocolate was delicious and very smooth treat also just enough in the little packs so cute. It would also be good to gift to someone the packing it's very nice. The classic milk chocolate, I mean how do you go wrong with classics. I will definitely be back for more!!!!

Yelp
I was happy to discover that the Royce by Bryant Park was still open when we walked by after a matinee. Currently, there is no browsing in the store and you order at the counter and they get everything for you. I do miss the experience of browsing all the products, but I understand the precautions. I picked up a box of Matcha Nama Chocolate and the Matcha Duo Praline, which have been my favorite Royce product since I first tried them in Japan 6 years ago. Staff were super, super nice and helpful - even when I struggled to tell them exactly what I wanted (it was the duo pralines). I highly recommend Royce - it's worth the splurge!

Yelp
Beautiful park with lots to see and do. Great place to sit and read, grab a bite to eat or play a game.

Yelp
This isn't just a chocolate store. It's a must for those who enjoys chocolate and appreciate the quality difference. This is premium japanese chocolate. I bought some for myself and family. They all enjoyed it. It's on the pricer side of for a chocolate bar. Somethings in life are worth buying more for and this is one of them.

Yelp
One of the best chocolates I've ever tasted hands down! I love how aesthetic and delicately packaged their products are - their chocolate has such a smooth texture and are of such high quality and come in a ton of different flavors! Came by here recently to pick up a few gift sets for the holiday season and was quite disappointed that a lot of their holiday specials were already sold out. This location is a bit small but in a really convenient spot in midtown. If you're looking to splurge a bit on either yourself or a loved one in terms of chocolates/sweets, would highly recommend coming here! They don't just sell chocolate bars, they also have a lot of other products - cookies, nuts, even chocolate-dipped potato chips lol. They provide little ice packs and thick packaging to help ensure that their chocolate doesn't melt and they also offer free giftwrapping :)

Yelp
Wowie! I consider myself a chocolate connoisseur and... their Nama chocolates (I got it in the Kir Royal flavor) are divine! I'd describe them as very truffle-like. I purchased a beautiful decorative box of 20, at a cost of $20. It makes a beautiful gift for anyone you know who appreciates fine chocolate. As I always tell folks, the ONLY way to enjoy a truffle is to put the whole thing in your mouth, and then let the warmth of your mouth allow it to soften. Then you can use your tongue to swirl it around in your mouth. (You never want to bite or 'chew' a truffle. Just let it continue to soften...) I was really pleasantly surprised at how good these chocolates would be as...I never thought of the Japanese for their 'chocolate'. And in addition, I'm not a huge fan of Japanese sweets. I mean, they can be 'good', but I find that with most Japanese treats, there is more focus on Appearance than there is on actual Taste. (I consider the French, however, to be masters in both of these areas. A good French pastry shop not only has treats that are visually gorgeous, but they always taste amazing, as well...) Anyway, I will surely pick up more of these chocolates, the next time I'm in the area. Note that the storefront is VERY easy to pass by as the shop entrance is essentially just INSIDE the entryway to what appears to be a private, upscale apartment building...
