Where to Satisfy a Chocolate Craving in Houston

"This Japanese chocolate sensation has taken the U.S. by storm and perched its flag in Chinatown for its Houston outpost. The shop carries all the classics, from curated boxes and artisan bars to more esoteric creations like its potato chip and marshmallow chocolates. Whether you’re a dark chocolate purist, love a sweet and salty combo, or are on the hunt for inventive mashups like its chocolate match wafer, there’s something for everyone here. For a decent sampling, opt for the Royce tasting box. It’s garnered a cult following." - Brittany Britto Garley, Cat Modlin-Jackson

Houston Kroger Workers Could Strike Over Thanksgiving - Eater Houston

"Matcha green tea chocolates and chocolate-covered potato chips from Royce Chocolate could be a great holiday gift. The anticipated new Houston shop from the Japanese chocolatier is now open at 9798 Bellaire Boulevard, near ice cream shop Bae and 7 Leaves Cafe. A Fancy Japanese Chocolatier Will Open Its First Houston Location in Asiatown - Eater Houston

"Royce Chocolate, the Japanese candy maker known for its matcha green tea chocolates and chocolate-covered potato chips, is opening a shop in Houston’s Chinatown. Construction permits filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicate that the shop will open its doors at 9798 Bellaire Boulevard, with construction expected to be completed by November 30. That location is just inside Beltway 8, in front of the Bellaire H-Mart and Sterling Plaza. Royce Chocolate was founded in 1983 in Sapporo, Japan. The candy maker is known for its green tea chocolates and matcha-filled pralines, as well as booze-drenched, raw-chocolate ganache “Namas,” handmade marshmallows, candy bars filled with dried fruit and nuts, and of course, those salty-and-sweet chocolate-covered potato chips. Since opening, the chocolatier has expanded to 14 countries, including US cities like Chicago, New York and Las Vegas. The Bellaire shop will be the first Royce boutique in Texas, but not the first time the chocolatier has visited the Bayou City. Royce hosted two pop-ups at the Galleria in 2018, one for Mother’s Day, and one for Christmas. No word yet on an opening date for Royce, but perhaps the boutique will be open in time for this year’s holiday season." - Brittanie Shey

Royce chocolate located in a busy shopping center right off Bellaire, is luxury handcrafted chocolate from Japan (Hokkaido). Millie's warm smile greeted me as soon as I entered the small boutique shop. My first sample was NAMA chocolate. Sweet, creamy and delicious. It literally melts in your mouth. Not too rich but perfectly sweet. Was probably my favorite out of everything I sampled. Another yummy treat was the chocolate covered ruffle potato chips. They come in milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate. Surprisingly very good! They offer a variety of chocolate bars and gift boxes for special occasions

Came in Mother's Day after church and a ramen lunch nearby. Royce' was conveniently close when I wanted a sweet after the savory meal. The male staffer was friendly and knowledgeable. We had several samples before deciding on dark chocolate potato chips and the tiramisu wafers. I assume that the Asian female staffer was there to translate for the non-Asian male staffer if needed as she never offered to assist and stayed quietly behind the counter. There were many customers buying items the time we popped in (because mothers are special!). I do enjoy the smoothness of the chocolate. Though I am usually not a sweets person, an occasional treat is is lovely. I admit that I did open the tiramisu wafers before we made it home!

July 18, 2025 Location: 9798 Bellaire Blvd Suite M, Houston, TX 77036 Extremely disappointed @ 2 employees working around 2:45-3pm…they were extremely rude!!! This place needs a serious reset in customer service. I walked into the Royce Chocolate store in Greater Houston expecting an elevated, luxury experience. Instead, I got no greeting, no samples, and cold, judgmental stares from the staff. Not a single smile. It felt like I was being judged the second I walked in as if they were trying to decide whether I was “worthy” of shopping there. The tone was condescending, and their energy felt downright sexist like I was being talked down to for no reason. That’s a huge red flag for any brand, especially one that markets itself as premium. If you’re looking for warm service and a luxury feel, go somewhere else. Royce Houston really missed the mark. I will contact Kate Lupsa Area Regional Manager at Royce Chocolate USA and the corporate office and also make sure I will spread this to my viewers about this place

Joyce chocolate are among the finest confection you'll ever experience. A Japanese brand and as usual, they have perfected their chocolate in every possible way. Try the mild milk variety. It got a rich and smooth cocoa flavor.

I have always love royce chocolates and their customer service until ive come across with this two women at the store. When I came in they did not greet me or offered any samples. I asked if they have the dubai chocolate version and the other lady said “thats turkish this is royce” ofc I know the difference im just asking if they have their own version because ive seen it online. I was expecting great customer service, with smile and welcoming attitude but these two does not have that. Why do you keep hiring this kind of people? You need to get new employees that will actually interact with the customer not just stand behind their desk. Ridiculous. Afternoon of: July 18,2025

Winfield's Chocolate Bar tastes amazing. It's rich and smooth. The Snowberry flavor is really good. Plus, their customer service is great and Hannah is always friendly.

I have been eating Royce chocolates at different countries for many years now. I am so glad they open a store in Houston. I love Royce chocolates because of the variety and the smoothness of the chocolates. The chocolates are slightly pricey but definitely worth every penny of it.

Yelp
Royce has been a forever favourite of mine, so when I heard they opened a shop in Houston (finally!) I was ecstatic. Chocolates are fantastic, as expected but staff is super courteous and go above and beyond. I had missed getting a seasonal edition of their nama chocolate (matcha fromage sea salt), and staff let me know that it might be possible for them to get it in a future shipment. Apart from that, the last time I was in store they had a new seasonal offering that I wanted to try before purchasing and they managed to open a fresh box for me to sample. I didn't end up getting it but i might soon.

Yelp
Amazing product and stunning service. I tried a variety of chocolates, some tabs, the and the nama collection. I tried the matcha nama and the origins collection pack. The Nama was nice and creamy with the right amount of matcha to provide a balanced taste of earthy matcha and the smoothness the Nama is known for. The origins collection provided a trip around the world via cacao sourced in Ecuador, Venezuelan, Vietnam and Madagascar. All these taste very different from each other. I loved being able to compare the different tones of fruitiness, bitterness and feel on the tongue. I can't wait to go back! This place will come in handy during the holidays as they offer to wrap your purchases and my people love the Nama collection. A must in Houston for sure!

Yelp
Wowww this is such a beautiful shop!!!! The staff were so so kind and helpful. It was so clean and organized. I loved how everything was displayed. I truly had to hold myself back I feel like I could've bought everything in there. All the samples I tried and the chocolate I bought were AMAZING!!!! I ended up getting the Berry Cube chocolate, Pistachio Chocolat, and the Nama Chocolate -Matcha. If you get any of them get the pistachio chocolat!! It had such a lovely array of flavors and textures. All packaged beautifully as well. Not like any chocolate shop I've been to before. I can't wait to make this place a regular stop for specialty chocolate and gifts for loved ones!!

Yelp
Royce' Chocolate Store in Houston is a true gem for chocolate lovers. As a frequent traveler with layovers in Japan, I have always made it a point to bring home a few mama boxes for my family. Now, having a Royce' store right here in Houston is incredibly convenient. The quality of Royce' chocolates is unparalleled. The Dark Chocolate Nama is a rich, decadent treat with a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture that is simply irresistible. The Matcha Nama is equally exquisite, combining the distinct, earthy flavor of matcha with the silky sweetness of high-quality chocolate. The Houston store maintains the same high standards as their locations in Japan, offering a variety of beautifully crafted chocolates that cater to all tastes. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable, and they always offer samples during all visits. For anyone who loves premium chocolates, Royce' in Houston is a must-visit destination.

Yelp
Review: An Exquisite Experience at Royce' Chocolate Stepping into the Royce' Chocolate store is a feast for the senses. The ambiance is physically pleasing, creating a luxurious and inviting atmosphere. Essie, a delightful and informative staff member, enhanced the experience with her knowledge and warm demeanor. Royce' Chocolate, a premium confections brand from Hokkaido, Japan, is renowned for its Nama Chocolates, Matcha Selections, and other fine confections. Here's a closer look at some of their standout offerings: Nama "Bitter" Chocolate The Nama "Bitter" Chocolate is a luxurious harmony of flavors. This refined confection is a masterpiece, crafted from intense, bitter dark chocolate and fresh cream, infused with the rich warmth of cognac. Each piece promises a sublime chocolate experience, perfectly balancing velvety smoothness with distinctive cognac notes. The inclusion of liquor adds an extra layer of sophistication to this already exquisite creation. Nama Matcha Chocolate The Nama Matcha Chocolate is a fragrant symphony of flavors, blending white chocolate, fresh cream, and green tea, with a subtle hint of cherry liqueur. Each piece offers a luxurious taste journey, combining sweetness, creaminess, and the unique notes of cherry liqueur. The box contains 20 meticulously curated pieces, each representing a harmonious fusion of refined taste and texture. The presence of liquor further elevates the sophistication of this delightful treat. While I sampled several other chocolates, the Nama selections remain my favorite. Royce' Chocolate consistently delivers an elevated chocolate experience, reflected in the quality and sophistication of their products. If you're looking to indulge in premium confections, a visit to Royce' Chocolate is a must.

Yelp
I got excited seeing that there was a Royce in Houston and went right in and bought some chocolate. This is a high end Japanese chocolate shop and they do lots of seasonal flavors as well as their usual chocolate bars. The cashier was kind and explained the current seasonal offerings and also provided us free samples. This may not be for everyone but if you want to treat yourself to some nice, smooth chocolate, give it a try!

Yelp
I did not know about the ROYCE' brand until my best friend came back from Japan and told me about it. To my delight, I found that we actually have one store here in Houston! It is located in the heart of Chinatown, next to 7 Leaves. The place is small but packed with all sort of chocolate you can imagine! The staff are helpful and friendly. They have seasonal items too like the time I was there, they had a line of pistachio including the cutest little bears. This has become my one and only chocolate store to buy gifts for family, friends, and myself!
google avatar

Yelp
Royce is truly a gem for chocolate lovers with its unique pairing of various flavors with chocolate, including champagne, matcha and whiskey amongst others. The Royce chocolate is almost fudge-like, extremely dense but not heavy. Originally created using high quality chocolate from Hokkaido, Royce chocolates feel and taste high end. During our trip here, we sampled a couple of chocolates and my favorite stand out was the matcha chocolate dipped chip. The combination of sweet and savory was something I would not have thought of, but so glad Royce did. They currently have seasonal pistachio chocolate offerings. They are also running a limited joint event with Lady M - Royce is selling whole crepe cakes in store. I will definitely be back to try some of their other products and am excited to gift their delectable treats!

Yelp
Customer service was very friendly! They let us try free samples of a few. They had a wide selection of the nama chocolate that I couldn't find in the Japan airport. Although...it is $20/box but it makes sense with import and other costs. I only bought one box of the caramel sale and orange, and it was gone after a day...

Yelp
This is one of my favorite chocolate Matcha is not over powering taste and sweetness is just so mild . I can eat the whole box in 10 minutes The ladies at the store were nice and they very friendly. The ambiance of the store is nice and simple . The price for me is ok nice gift as well;)) The reason i only give 4 stars is because i have not tried the rest of their chocolates yet

Yelp
Came on a Saturday morning, very classy ambiance with great service. Got to try a free sample which was delicious got a bar of their black chocolate, big fan. Price point makes sense for luxury chocolate, a bit expensive for me to get regularly but would come for gifts or something

Yelp
This chocolate is so rich and smooth!!!! I can't believe I never came sooner. The girl who helped me out was super super sweet and offered me plenty of samples. She explained to me this chocolate is imported from Japan and told me about each chocolate I was tasting. She was knowledgeable and patient! It's kind of expensive but also it's unique so I wouldn't mind spending once in a while or to treat a friend!

Yelp
Came here for a yelp event and was able to sample a few different things but I bought myself some dark chocolate. I love good QUALITY dark chocolate and this one tasted heavenly, it came even with a ice pack to keep it from melting. Super bougee!

Yelp
Looking for some gourmet chocolate for a chocoholic and Yelp guided me to ROYCE. I am so glad that it did. Not knowing what I was exactly looking for the sales person had me try a few different samples. Of course they were all exceptional. Picked out a sample box of Japanese chocolate and was informed as to refrigerate the chocolate. Being it was a gift he wrapped the chocolate and added an ice pack as to keep melting at bay. This is a place that I will keep on my list as to places to return.

Yelp
Okay, so I honestly had no idea ROYCE came to Houston. Thank goodness they have Yelp events to bring stores to my awareness! Came back to get some Mother Day gifts for friends that have never had it! We have had certain items in Japan and really love it. It's just one of a kind! Since tomorrow is Mother's Day, the items came in a cute wrapped bag, which I really loved. We got the Royce Rum & Raisin Bar, Nama Chocolate "Milk Cacao," and the Royce Pure Chocolate Columbia Milk. They had a special going on and if you spent $50 bucks, you get the Nama Chocolate Champagne for free which was an awesome deal! Also, our friends loved it and killed the Royce Nama Chocolate quick! LOL! Again, we met Nino. He's dope, full of knowledge, kind & very welcoming. Store is super clean and neat. Absolutely will definitely continue to come back!

Yelp
Great Yelp Experience! Located in Chinatown, ROYCE' is the perfect place to get a unique gift for friends or even yourself. I was given a tour of the store and allowed to try samples of some of their hit products. The staff were great in explaining the source of the chocolate and the quality that goes into these Japanese treats. I absolutely loved the matcha chocolates and I was told that if you bought one of their chocolate truffles up front, they would send you home with an ice pack to keep it temperature controlled. Most of their products seem to be priced between $20-$30 Thank you Jando and Yelp Team for this fun event!

Yelp
My husband and I made the trek to Royce Chocolates over the weekend because I had heard great things about the nama chocolates. My favorite chocolates of all time are the small chocolates that they give you after dinner at Da Marco, and based on photos these seemed to fit the bill. There wasn't a lot of chocolate variety to choose from in the shop and admittedly no one offered to help us or tell us about the chocolates when we came in, but I knew what I wanted. We purchased a box of the bitter nama chocolate and they sent it home with us in a insulated package with a little baby ice pack. The chocolate itself is pretty great. It's not quuuuuuite as good as the little chocolates I love from Da Marco but they are pretty dang close!
google avatar

Shatoyia N.

Yelp
First time trying Royce and the chocolate was so good. It melts in your mouth so yummy!!!! Their chocolate make great gifts. They also have chocolate covered chips which I didn't get a chance to try. A box of their chocolate will definitely be added to my gift bags. The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in. Definitely stop by if you are in the Bellaire area.
google avatar

Yelp
Our fave chocolate from Japan. The service is A1. They are always kind and helpful. My fave is the champagne chocolate which by the name has a small amount of liquor in it. Highly recommend as a gift too. My second fave thing is the chocolate covered potato chips. I wish I could get a big ol' bag of this. They are addictive. A little bit more expensive compared to getting it in Japan but considering you'll have to fly to Japan lol it's a great deal.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
Amazing chocolate place in the area which came all the way from Hokkaido Japan! As you taste the raw chocolate it melts in your mouth like a magic! Very nice chocolate vibe and the service is great! Will definitely be back! I got a gift box for a friend who is leaving Houston soon! Great place for gifts! Come visit for those who love chocolate! Cheers
google avatar

Yelp
I first tried ROYCE' in Japan and loved it a lot. I was so excited to stop by here while I was in Houston. The cashier gives a few samples of their nama chocolates and talks a bit about ROYCE' behind the counter. They have a variety of flavors and percentages of cacao. I was concerned that the chocolate would melt if I brought it outside because it was very hot, but the chocolates come with an ice pack that lasts up to 3 hours, which is awesome! You can also get it gift-wrapped complimentary.
google avatar

Yelp
I recently came across a video of Royce Chocolate on my TikTok and when looking into it, I realized that there was one in Houston! It is slightly hidden but it's in the same strip center as 7 leaves and bae ice cream in Bellaire. The store itself is quite small, but there were so many choices! The lady inside was kind and helpful and she even gave me a sample of the "White" Nama chocolate - which was divine. I ended up buying the "Au Lait" Nama chocolate (which is milk chocolate), the milk chocolate potato chips, the matcha bar chocolate, and the pistachio chocolate. Let me tell you how ADDICTIVE all of these are! Omg. My family & I very much enjoyed it all. I do wish they had vegan-friendly options, but hopefully they'll do that soon. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Sophia L.

Yelp
I love their chocolate and very nice gifts for special occasions. Price is very reasonable. Service is nice and often welcomed with free samples. I'm honestly not sure about their other products (I didn't think other chocolates were all that amazing, but they have really cute boxes), but I love their original nama chocolates. It melts in your mouth, and flavors are well harmonized.

Yelp
ROYCE' has been a big brand in Asia for years; solidifying a stronghold in the premium confections that have been big business for sweet tooths all around. Japanese brands haven't been well represented in Houston, but their presence only legitimizes the ever-growing Asian dining scene, as well as the demands that come along with it. I've never considered myself a chocolate connoisseur, yet I can appreciate a good quality chocolate when I have one. Simply put, these are outstanding chocolates and every delectable bite is so rich yet so light that it's not hard to understand why these are some of the best in the world. ROYCE' has been around for less than 40 years, which makes it a junior company in the world of high end sweets. The store itself is much like Japan: minimalist all around, incredibly clean, and carefully laid out. They provide samples in the store and the staff has been well trained to provide information about the origin of certain products and does an excellent job of making recommendations based on palate preferences. Their nama chocolate is the stuff of legends. The process as I've been told is a combination of simple cacao with fresh cream, that has been melted and dried, and finished off with fresh cocoa powder. They're sold by the box, which consists of 20 pieces. The packaging for this (and everything else) has a major premium feel; making this an ideal gift for anyone but especially those who love their chocolate. Their prafeuille chocolat collection is also very worthy, particularly the ones that are flavored. The white chocolate, strawberry, and matcha are excellent choices and come individually wrapped. Their baton cookies (hazel chocolate), the "chips" (chocolate dipped potato chips), and almonds are interesting choices to add to the indulgence. Folks who are looking for some high end sweets to gift or impress, consider ROYCE' chocolates: the sweetness that keeps on giving.
google avatar

Rhiannon D.

Yelp
These chocolates will make you want to throw your crunch and reeses cups away. Yes they are a tad bit more expensive, but the quality you are getting from these chocolates are delicious. I purchased the nama milk chocolate after falling in love with the flavor. Those chocolates require refrigeration. Thankfully they give you an ice pack that lasts up to three hours so you don't have to pray that your chocolate melts by the time you get across the parking lot in the summer houston heat. The chocolate covered chips are delicious and something I actually never tried before. When you visit, be sure to ask for a sample!. The seasonal products when I was at the store was Matcha and Pitaschio. Earlier in May they had sakura chocolates (which I'm bummed I didn't get to try) These chocolates would make perfect gifts for the holidays or for coworker's birthdays.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
These are really standout chocolates. I have always had a wonderful experience with the staff. They are generous with samples! The chocolates are packaged really well and make great gifts. I recently bought some for my mom and she loved them! A really special treat. The store is quite small! Everything is displayed in a very aesthetically pleasing way.
google avatar

Canny F.

Yelp
Matcha everything. Seasonal flavors. Random promos and chocolate tasting freebies. You can't go wrong. Love their products since it's not over bearing sweet. It's just right and so rich in chocolate. It's pretty much my go to for matcha flavored chocolate of all sorts. We came in mothers day so it was quite packed.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
Honestly right when I walked in there, I was greeted by the lovely staff, they were very nice enough to explain the culture and the history behind ROYCE and it's growth throughout the world. You HAVE to get the nama chocolates- they are honestly my fav and you can't go wrong with any flavor. But my favorite would have to be the matcha white chocolate! It's absolutely delicious if you have a sweet tooth. They also have special edition pistachio chocolates if you're into that as well!

Yelp
What's the hype with ROYCE' Chocolate? I didn't know about this brand imported from Japan until I visited my family in California. My sister bought everyone in the family a package of Nama wrapped in silver envelop, with care. Gee. Someone is rich. That's $20 a pack. Then, she visited me in Houston. She bought a package. Nice. I was shocked how smooth that tiny bit of chocolate tastes. Man, it's too pricey for my salary to even get it for myself. I am glad it's already proportioned for sharing. Yeah. I am all about sharing with friends. Few months later, me and my friend Nina walked by as we just left a lunch party at Sterling Plaza. I thought it's time to update my experience with ROYCE' Chocolate. So, we walked in. Man, it smelled so good. The employees were so friendly. Am I in Houston Chinatown? I felt like I was in high-end department store. She gave us a quick tour of the chocolate variety they carry. "Would you like to try one?" Seriously? Am I in Chinatown? "Sure," we said. So, I came to validate the expensive one that my sister bought was made with fresh cream and all imported from Japan. There are many inexpensive ones. I bought a box of individually packaged dark chocolate 70% from Ecuador, Valenzuela, Vietnam and Madagascar. Package didn't need refrigeration. I shared the box with Nina afterwards. We also tried others. I sure will come back to buy some of those I tried.

Yelp
My favorite Nama Chocolates from Royce'! These chocolates are behind the counter and are maintained in a refrigerator! When you purchase a box, the packaging comes with ice packs to maintain the correct temperature. These chocolates are velvety smooth! Priced at $19.99, it makes for a nice gift with the gift bag. The interior of this store is similar to other Royce' stores. Minimal, streamlined, and slightly stale. The products speak for themselves. I'm grateful there is a location in Houston!
google avatar

Kaitlyn P.

Yelp
Was so excited to see that they opened one in Houston, TX! Royce doesn't sell your average chocolate bar -- these are imported straight from Japan! The staff was highly informative and helped me pick out the perfect flavor for me. I decided to go with champagne which was $20. It's bitter at first but then it goes straight to sweetness and small hint of champagne flavor. The cocoa powder and milk chocolate combo really makes it melt in your mouth. These chocolate are to be kept in the fridge and shouldn't sit out for longer than 10 mins. Overall, highly recommend for everyone to at least try this high end chocolate at least once in their life!
google avatar

Mira A.

Yelp
These are one of the best! I tried these chocolates and I totally upgraded my standards. I started to get into eating good quality chocolates rather than just eating any sweets. Thank goodness this place exists in Houston! I'm in love with their liquor chocolates the most! These chocolates would really make amazing gifts too since they already wrap them up for you. I remember being at laderach chocolatier in the galleria where the cashier and I were talking about how good Royce chocolates were.

Yelp
I love Royce and wanted to learn more about it. I had them in California and usually get them whenever I travel there. I came twice to this location and the guy was very friendly and informative. The lady wasn't very welcoming but she very informative and they also gave us samples to try. The chocolate melts in your mouth. I didn't even know they have coffee bean covered with chocolate. It was delicious. I also got a few other things which I love. Now that I know they are so close by me I will be back.

Yelp
If you've never had these Japanese chocolates you need to! I'm not a chocolate fan but these literally melt in your mouth. They come in different flavors: matcha, white choco, liquor, strawberry. They are so silky and smooth. So fancy they even give you an ice pack for them on the road home. You get samples so make sure to ask. Refrigerator chocolate squares strawberry flavor 5/5 Soooo good so creamy and smooth. So melt in your mouth good.

Yelp
I've been obsessed with Royce since my first trip to Japan 15+ years ago, so I was excited to see a Royce store in Texas! I was greeted with rows of familiar nama chocolates, chocolate covered potato chips, as well as some new products that the employees kindly explained to us while they handed us samples of their new flavored nama chocolate pieces. Since this establishment doesn't have any seats available, we quickly decided what we wanted to get for ourselves and family and left. The products certainly are expensive, but we were gifted a whole box of champagne flavored nama chocolate for spending $40 *and* a chance to include our contact information for a raffle!

Yelp
I have been waiting for Royce to finally open a location here in Houston!! I'm not really of a fan of sweets but their products are just perfect for my palette. They carry premium, high quality chocolates and products. The store is pretty simple but their fancy packaging is extremely impressive. My favorites are the matcha wafers, matcha nama chocolates and the potenche crunch chocolate. The nama chocolates are really silky smooth and need to be refrigerated. It also comes at a hefty price tag, but definitely worth it!

Yelp
This was a cute little chocolate shop! I love chocolate so it was great to be able to sample their special techniques and different flavors. The matcha chocolate was pretty good. They were very knowledgeable and helpful as you figured out what to get. Also, they do gift wrapping for free. This is a such a huge plus since I often get chocolate boxes for friends and coworkers.

These chocolates are silky smooth. We got one as a gift a while back and in visiting we bought our own box. It is a beautiful little store front with knowledgeable and helpful staff. If you need a fun gift from Houston, i defined recommend this spot.

Yelp
This decadent chocolate just melts in your mouth! It is so good!! It's kind of expensive so it's not an everyday kind of treat. However, they make great gifts. I get them for special occasions or as gifts and they are a crowd pleaser. I'd recommend it. Such a special treat!

Yelp
Wow!! Not only is Royce' a beautiful store with very friendly employees, they probably have some of the best chocolate I've ever had in my life! One of my coworkers told me about Royce and gave me a chocolate bar for Christmas. After eating the bar, I knew we had to come check it out! We got the Au Lait Nama and a Bitter Almond Bar (dark chocolate) and oh my gosh! The Nama is unlike anything else! So smooth and covered in cocoa. Absolutely delicious! We will be coming back soon to get more chocolate to enjoy!! Finally, the staff is very friendly! They welcome you when you walk in the door and explain all the chocolates for you. You pick from a magazine with pictures and they wrap them up nicely for you. If you are needing a gift, they will gift wrap for free!

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that I LOVE mama chocolates, which originate in Japan, I believe. They are soft, melt-in-your-mouth chocolates played with a light dusting of cocoa powder, I think? They are featured often in Asian drama movies and are the go-to gift for things like Valentine's Day, which is where I first heard of it. So I was naturally super excited when they opened here in Houston! I came through here during the store during the holiday season so there was a mini-lune outside. The store front itself is super tiny and you do not get to peruse the store like you would normally do. I am not sure if this is a rule because of Covid rules or new store rules. The counter is in the front right when you walk in and the store is roped off. There is space for a out five people to stand side by side and two deep in the front. They offer you a flyer to look at while waiting in line before entering and will bring things over to show you once you are within the store. They are not offering samples at this time and I am not sure of they will anytime soon with the times we are in, but hopefully soon! Since I have had these before in Chicago, I was able to pick and choose what I wanted fairly quickly. Each box of Mama chocolates (reg, champagne, matcha, white chocolate) were $18 a box. They had regular chocolate bars like Rum raisin chocolate for $8, I believe. Everything is on the pricer side but they were delicious and worth it at least once to see if it is something you like! The mama chocolates do not have a heavy alcohol taste, but the chocolate bars do. If you haven't tried this yes, what are you waiting for?! Go get some!

Yelp
Just go. Don't walk, but run! You would not regret it. In the h-mart plaza of Chinatown Bellaire. The store is next to Bae! Finally I'm able to enjoy this expensive chocolate instead of a pop up. We always get the matcha.

Yelp
Royce chocolates are worth the hype. Glad they finally opened the location in Houston because I use to get my fix while traveling to Vegas. My all time fav is the Nama Chocolate Au Lait flavor but the Champagne Pierre Mignon is a close second. The chocolate is silky smooth and not overly sweet. Great for sharing because it comes with 20 pieces. The fruit bar chocolate is like a white chocolate nestle crunch with tiny bits of dried fruit. Also a great alternative to your typical chocolate bars. The store itself is a little cramp with a lot to choose from but the employees are helpful and informative if you don't know which one to pick.

Yelp
My family members used to bring these back from Japan, so I was excited when this location opened up! If you like fudgy chocolate (or if you like Meiji Meltyblend series chocolate) definitely recommend to try Royce' nama chocolate. The girl that was helping us was courteous and welcoming. The store location also pushes for their signature chocolates. But beware, if you didn't dress "fancy" the store manager might not act as polite. If you feel more cautious with in-store shopping due to COVID, I would also recommend to take a look of their online store! They offer free shipping for the same pricing as in-store.

Yelp
This chocolate store is a famous high-end chocolate brand from Hokkaido, Japan that specializes in nama, or rare, chocolate. It has a special smooth and creamy texture to the chocolate that makes it melts in your mouth immediately, leaving a soft and high quality after taste. Slightly pricey at $18 a box. But if you've never tried nama chocolate before, I highly recommend giving it a try! Service was impeccable. They are also very Covid conscious, only 4 customers allowed in at a time. N.B. - the mama chocolate needs to be refrigerated and they give you an ice pack for transport.

Yelp
Creamy, melt-in-your-mouth Japanese chocolates. Highly recommend! Very nice staff and setup
