How I know a place is a hidden gem 💎 - I really have to wrestle with myself if I want to write a review. A part of me whispers “save this place for yourself” and another part says “no, they deserve to be known and the food happiness shared!” Sigh 😔 so here it is.
After Anju closed, I lamented over not tasting the oxtail tortellini and soy maple Brussels sprouts with bacon and teok again. During COVID, I rejoiced when Roy’s popped back up in Mission. And then sadness again when it closed.
ROY’S IS BACK!!!!!! We had all of our faves again, and there are more items that we will be trying in the future. The prices are so affordable for the quality, you HAVE TO try it at least once. But please don’t come too frequently as I will be doing that and don’t want to wait too long. Kidding 😇
As for the location, I personally love it. A hidden gem is one that is not hyped because of the vibe and ambiance, this is not a place to go to be “seen.” A place for true foodies, yay 🥹 It’s located in an office building, and there’s plenty of space in the atrium (with foliage and a koi pond) to enjoy your food out of takeout containers. 2hr Indigo free parking, you scan a QR code as you enter the building.
Enjoy guys, I had to choose to listen to my angel and not my devil with posting this review. But Chef Roy deserves it, and you guys do too 😞
