La Taberna de Almodóvar

"Any description of La Taberna de Almodóvar inevitably requires words such as tradition and passion that bring to mind the grocery store where this family first started serving food in Almodóvar del Río. With its spick-and-span classic decor, this restaurant in Córdoba has retained the essence of that first incarnation, reproducing regional cuisine that fully respects authentic local flavours. Make sure you try the trying the famous “Almodóvar” croquettes, the egg-based “Revuelto del Cortijo”, and the legendary “Mazamorra”, a cold soup similar to “ajoblanco”, albeit thicker, that is said to be the forerunner of Córdoba’s “salmorejo”." - Michelin Inspector

Good bib gourmand for traditional regional fare. Very good(!) salmorejo and mazamorra. Good croquette (crispy, creamy and firm), toast with anchovy/salmon. Still good, but less impressed by suckling lamb and tuna tartar. Went twice and can recommend. Need reservations.

Came here because of the Michelin bib gourmand recommendation. Not sure what it was that evening but really didn’t feel that this place is worthy of the recommendation (I’ve been at five other Michelin bib gourmand restaurants this week on vacation in Spain and Portugal). Service was mediocre except for the younger gentleman who spoke with a smile. They didn’t even have butter to go with the bread. And kind of threw the olive oil on the table as an alternative. Did not offer basalmic vinegar and we reached over behind us to get that ourselves. The food was also mediocre in taste quality and presentation. The steak was not bad though. Perhaps this is a better choice in the city of cordoba?

Amazing service and very nice people In a charming street. The waitresses were so friendly and they helped recommend the whole meal. The food is fantastic and they are so generous. I would definitely recommend to put this place on your devour list for when in Córdoba. We had the salmorejo, the mazamorra, croquetas to start. The lamb leg and oxtail to finish. Magnificent food!

Beautiful place with exceptional food and great service. Nacho and his colleagues made the evening a great experience. Couldn’t decide what was my favourite dish. And they have a great vino solera (Gran Barquero, Pedro Ximénez, 6 años)

Google
Restaurant worthy of its Michellin recognition as Bib Gourmand. Traditional food exceptionally executed. The service is superb, the staff takes care of you explaining the menu and off menu offerings. They give excellent recommendations. We were served by Sergio and Antonio Luis, true masters. The food is delicious. We went there twice during our stay. Great value-quality formula. Absolutely recommended.

We discovered the place through Google and were excited to dine! Pity Cordoba misses a lot of public/tourists. Very hard for the local business, but we were very pleased that they were open in July 2021 and we had such a lovely evening with friendly staff and tasty food! The waiter himself reduced the tasty local eggplant with honey sauce portion, as it would have too much with the large suckling Iberian pork. That was very tender and tasty! Also the wine list had some great wines! We enjoyed the dinner very much and hope Cordoba and this lovely place see soon more people. We will come again! Thank you

Google
Absolute down turner. Mediocre food at best, although my kidneys were nice, but all else. Let's not go there. No idea how Michelin ended up mentioning the place. Ambience non existent, also not in a noteworthy part of town. Service also as if they all had enough, albeit the shift just started. Well, sometimes you win, anf this time certainly we lost.

I had the pleasure of lunching here with my family whilst on holiday. Fabulous food served by friendly and welcoming staff. The ensalada de bacalao was amazing as was the paletilla de Cordero and the cochinillo special which were both cooked perfectly. I will definitely eat here again when in cordoba

Yelp
Was looking forward to this Michelin Bib Gourmand dinner in Córdoba known for serving top-notch authentic, Córdoban/Andalusian cuisine. Unfortunately, this meal didn't live up to its rave reviews. Their famous croquettes were very good - certainly the best croquettes we've had, with super thin fried shells - and the salmorejo was also very flavorful with jamon bits. However, the main we ordered (baked cod with toasted garlic) was fried with not a hint of toasted garlic in sight; the cod itself was also far too salty. We admittedly were not very hungry when we arrived, so perhaps their other mains which they're more known for (eg, suckling pig) are tastier, but the main was definitely a disappointment. The restaurant's environment and service were nice. Dined: September 10, 2022

Yelp
La Taberna the heart of Spanish cuisine. This Michelin recommended restaurant is a beautiful jewel of traditional Andalusian cuisine. The artichokes are amazing, and I dare anyone to find a better dish than the Croquets and Ham. We also loved the Grilled Octopus w/ Paprika, among other dishes.

Yelp
Had simply the best meal in Cordoba. The cochinillo rivals those of Segovia. Classic Andalucian cuisine done well using very fresh ingredients in a lovely pristine and crisply modern setting. Would highly recommend.
