How New York Ended Up With Nine Chinatowns | Eater NY

"I find Ru Yi to be a seafood-focused Chinese restaurant that’s part of the Broadway cluster in Elmhurst." - Stefanie Tuder

I dined in around 1pm on a Tuesday for lunch. Got a table and was able to order right away. So this is a Chinese restaurant with a sushi bar and some Thai dishes as well. I ordered the chicken pad Thai which looked and tasted almost just like pad Thai from a Thai restaurant for a fraction of the price (Thai restaurants always charge way more for pad thai). The only difference is that real pad thai from a Thai restaurant will have both shrimp and chicken, tofu and eggs. But for the fraction of the price of pad thai from Thai restaurants, I was happy with what I ordered and it was still very delicious. They also have affordable lunch specials here. My pad Thai also came with the choice of spring roll, soup or salad. I chose the wonton soup and it was very good authentic small Chinatown style wontons. I would definitely come back here again.

The food was good and the service was good for a busy place. It is cheaper to order takeout because you will get a better bang for your $$. It is an inflated menu inside, but otherwise, we did enjoy this place.

Driving from Tennessee to Illinois I stopped here to get lunch. It was busy. It smelled good. Service was prompt. Nice menu selections. I ordered General Tso's Chicken with Wonton Soup and Green Tea. The chicken was plentiful but overly sweet and 70% breading. Soup was decent, slightly bland with big tasty dumplings. Here's the Breakdown: Decent, plentiful food in a busy setting +3 stars. I woukd go again to try a non breaded option.

Ordered a dish with shrimp...got chicken. Ordered fried rice, got brown rice, undercooked. Ordered spicy, got sweet. Orange beef was average. Fried rice had 1 pea & 1 sliver of carrot. Very disappointing 😞

They are always super nice here. Since it's only a mile away I often order take out and that's when you find out how shoddy and skimpy the meals can be. They don't cut back on portions and the food is tasty as if in a fine Chinese restaurant. I know of at least 2 different families that live well outside the county (40 plus minutes away) who often make the drive for the food. Try it and you will agree. The place take pride in its food.

Stopped in on my way home to get dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was nice and the food was so yummy. I asked about the pineapple chicken being too spicy for me, and she said we could make it for you, so it's not spicy at all. Wonderful visit all around, and we will definitely be back.

Both times I've tried this place for carry out they've made major mistakes- once neglecting to leave out pork ( for our holiday family meal) and then left out an entree . The taste is great, but two family meals ( over $20/ per person) were ruined . I'll gladly change rating once they get it right. A good expediter needed. Also, it would be fabulous to have descriptions of sushi on menu.

Great Chinese. We went on a Friday and there was fresh seafood and fish available. The owner came to the table and introduced himself, as did the chef. The waiters were very professional. food was excellent.
