Rubio's Coastal Grill

Love this place! I always get the Mexican Street Corn Bowl, but I ordered the Rainbow Bowl this time and it was really good as well. You can never go wrong with their original fish tacos they're so crispy and flavorful. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny.

Ordered two bowls that came like this. Legit three pieces of lettuce, barely any corn and overall presentation was not great. Also was missing cotija cheese on one bowl and most of the corn wasn't exactly roasted.

They never miss. I discovered Rubio's from a friend elsewhere and in Bakersfield, I only go to this one. Staff is fantastic ~ truly feels inviting. Food is always to notch and prepared/packaged with care. When placing mobile orders, I've yet to find anything missing. One of the few places I pick up/receive my order confidently knowing everything's there. I recommend them to anyone looking for quality, wholesome, food. Quality and value; I honestly couldn't ask for more.

To come here for the salmon tacos on Tuesday. I also get the taco Tuesday fish special which doesn't include the salmon. But it's reasonably fast clean place. Friendly service

Blackened mahi tacos were miles better years ago. It was very bland. The girl cashier on 8/1/24 talked loudly in the restaurant a tad too much and the music volume was very low. By the time I left i knew her taste in music. Her favorite and least favorite coworker. What she had for dinner the night before and what she likes to do in her downtime. Granted it was slow, you should talk less and do your job. Scrub or clean something 😶

Great fish tacos. Love this place.

This was my first time trying this place and it was okay. I tried the shrimp trio tacos and the flavor for each tasted pretty similar. I tried the fish taco special and it was very soft like mushy for my liking. The food was lukewarm, but the service was quick. Overall, I wasn’t the biggest fan but the flavor is all right.

Always so fresh and the employees have always been so kind and caring! This will forever be my favorite go to place for tacos!

This was my husbands first time coming in to try Rubios. He's very picky when it comes to fast food and I'm happy to say he really enjoyed their Cali steak burrito! I ordered the surf and turf bowl, even tho I usually order their salads. The bowl was very flavorful and the shrimp were grilled perfectly. The portions are huge! Enough to feed two people. The restaurant was pretty slow for a Saturday afternoon and after ordering our meals we went to find a table. We noticed a couple tables were dirty and the drink station was pretty messy as well. Not the best impression. I believe the manager was who tended to us and he came out to clean up the drink station not long after we sat. Staff was very kind and service was fast- except when we came up to the register to ask for lids and a bag to take our leftovers home. Still, not a bad experience overall.

Food at this location is by far one of my favorites.. place is always clean and the service is excellent. Thank you Daniela for helping us with the menu a great service! Definitely coming back !

Rubio's is always a great choice to stop and dig into some great California Fish Tacos !! This location is welcoming , clean, and open !! Our choices are pretty basic .. being five Original Fish Tacos ( two in a platter ), and two Gourmet Shrimp tacos .. also in a platter. The fish tacos included plenty of extra lime which is convenient !! Wifey and I both love the crunchy and tender texture of the fish nicely aligned with the tanginess of their house sauce and extra splash of lime ! Our shrimp tacos were plump, juicy, and bursting with the savoury chipotle flavour, while paired with the smoky bacon and encrusted cheese Our staff was pleasant and friendly !! Such a nice treat while on our way home ! Enjoy your weekend ! Cheers !

Hmmmm....Hope it's just a bad night, but WOW was I burned this time! I've come here a lot over the years and mostly really loved the food! This time everything seemed different...Don't know if they've changed something or just having a bad night, but I really felt like I wasted my money tonight!!! First everything had a funny smell to it! Kinda like dish water smell! Tacos came of corn tortillas, which are usually good, but this time felt like a nasty leather shoe with a pungent odor! Not sure what the smell was, but my family said the same thing before I even mentioned anything about it! Food was to go, but if I had still been there I would have got my money back! It was that bad! I sure hope this isn't the standard fare in the future, because I don't think I would be back! Wish me luck, I'll try again another night, but not looking good! People were nice as usual and business appeared clean and it didn't smell like the food, thank goodness! Sad to say, I didn't eat much before throwing it in the trash! Hope everyone else is having better luck!

One bite was all it took. I ordered tacos from Rubio's today. I took one bite of my Fish Taco, and the flavor of old frying oil filled my mouth.

Went to Rubios and had the Mexican Corn Shrimp Taco plate. I'm sorry there is only one picture, but dang, it looked and tasted so good I forgot to take pictures until I was almost done. Fresh food in a hurry? Give this place a try, I think you will be impressed.

First time eating here today, has great service, nice atmosphere, very professional staff, very clean establishment, food was great, Highly Recommend, definitely a return customer!!...

We have been going here quite a bit lately. I've been sticking to my usual Shrimp Tacos theme that I try at just about every Mexican restaurant. And occasionally mixing in the occasional classic tacos. I'm a fan of the Shrimp Trio without cheese, I've had them both ways but think the flavor is better without. The Classic Steak Tacos are good but I think the Classic Chicken Tacos have them beat. Everything is very fresh and only made once you order. The salsa bar is also fresh and offers a good variety. The dining area is fairly small and does not offer a full booth for seating. There are some half booths on one wall but you have to stalk them in order to get one. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, I'm sure this is going to become a regular place for us for some time. The only complaint I would have is that the price is kind of high for what seems to be a fast food kind of place.

I'm a little late on my review. Rubio's has been here for quite awhile now and the drug reps used to bring us food from this place where I used to work. I have always liked the food here. The tortillas are made from scratch and they have tons of options here. They have a good amount of different salads and you can literally come 5 days straight and still get something different each time. They have something for everyone. They have simple items for picky kids, they have vegan friendly options and they even have chicken for people who don't like seafood. Up until recently I had only liked the lunch/dinner items until I got a dessert item. I got the toffee crunch blonde and I was not disappointed at all. If you have never tried it then you should. I'm a huge fan of blondies and toffee so when I saw that, I knew I had to check it out. They have other dessert items, but honestly the main reason to come out to check Rubio's out is for the yummy seafood options they have here. If you're crammed for time then this wouldn't be a good place for lunch. This place gets super busy or you can always order ahead of time online and that should work also. Parking is also pretty crazy during lunch hours, so good luck if you decide you want to come for lunch. Reasons why you should go... there's something for everyone here. Veggies are fresh. The restaurant always looks clean and there's always a lot of people here so then that would tell you that everything is probably made fresh. Prices are affordable and the location isn't bad either. If you've never gone then you should or if you didn't like them before then you should retry them. I'm kind of bummed they closed the other location down, but I'm happy this one is still here.

Hadn't been to Rubio's in a while, so decided to try it again. I hadn't gone to Rubio's in probably five or six years and I honestly cannot remember the last time I went to one. I am so glad to see that the Rubio's menu has expanded and they offer a much broader choice of protein. I opted for the original fish taco plate with a side of beans and chips that come with the meal. I ordered my tacos without the tortilla and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food I got, and how tasty it was. I topped off my tacos and cabbage with the smoked chipotle, hot sauce. That hot sauce is not spicy at all so if you like taste, but not spice, this is your salsa. The pinto beans always get me! They remind me of the way that my mother makes them... They refried, smashed, and a little on the thick side with black pepper. I love them. The restaurant was nice and clean. The service we got from the front counter was excellent and professional. When we were seated, eating our dinner, however, we could hear the people behind the counter in the kitchen, using cuss words and complaining about things loudly and people in the dining area could hear it. While I was enjoying my meal there was miscommunication between the front counter crew and the kitchen crew about an order, and the kitchen crew was upset, and the drama spilled into the dining room since they were yelling at each other. Personally, I think that is very unprofessional and it is the reason for my three star rating. I think the issue was about the order not being clear in the ticket, and the kitchen staff made something else and rather than accepting that it was not their mistake and moving on they continue to argue with the front counter person. The front counter person was very apologetic to the customer and apologized for the mixup, which was good. Hopefully, the next time I pop in there isn't any drama! Other than that people, enjoy!

Clean restaurant and very colorful/ cute. The décor is simple yet very nice. The staff are friendly and very efficient when taking your order. Salsa used to be free here, but because companies like to blame COVID they now charge $1.00 for salsa. The prices for meals also went up (due to COVID -_-)

Food is soooo yummy! So many choices of salsas! Customer service is really good as well. Mexican street corn bowl is my favorite.

I can't remember the last time I've been to Rubio's but we recently stopped by while we were out doing errands. I would probably only visit on Tuesdays for their specials; if I was paying full price for the fish tacos, I would rather get tacos elsewhere. Love the salsa bar. Wish there was a bit more flavor to the fish but overall it was ok. We were really just there for the convenience and quick bite to eat.

Rubio's has some of the best combinations of seafood and non meat options available to the businesses on Rosedale ave and their food in my experience has been top notch every time I have went onsite and ordered Their catch of the day, shrimp burritos and tacos are amazing and well crafted. They taste is different & flavors are complementary to another. I love eating here at least once a week Shrimp and bacon burrito!!! Is my fave. Well then why didn't they get 5 stars? With all that being said they would give 5 stars but I haven't had the whole menu yet also EVERYTIME I have ordered and picked up quality is not as good & sometimes beans /salsa and cheese are in places they shouldn't be. Like my burrito. Anyway I recommend this place for something different than Chipotle(blah) or Victors. ~MJ

Rubio's! I love everything about you! You remind me if my favorite taco shack in Ventura, Ca., Snapper Jack's. Your menu is amazingly simple but so savory! I'm stuck on your ancho shrimp burritos and haven't allowed my addiction to it try anything else from your kitchen!

The place was really good and pretty busy when we stopped by were still able to grab a table inside. Food came out as expected with no issues other than with time but was fresh and hot. No issues with food or taste at all and everything tasted super fresh. Unfortunately they are suffering short staffing right now just like every where else so the wait for food was the only complaint as I think they had only two people running the entire place. The food was put together nicely and not thrown together like you get at fast food. Might have to grab a Pacifico and fish taco next time. Also the pinto beans as a side is something I could eat with chips as an entire meal.

The fish taco was good . This food is not traditional Mexican food . Different flavors. My husband doesn't do well with different so he did not enjoy food. He wants his street tacos basically the same. If you like trying new things you'll enjoy these flavors.

The shrimp tacos that my family ordered were great and tasted really good. The original fish tacos that I ordered were horrible they were all batter and no fish. And you have to pay for pico here. The lady that took our order was not friendly at all her name was Eliza and she was pretty rude and seemed irritated when we asked for the avocado that we ordered and paid for.

Employees are wearing a mask. People coming into the building are required to wear a mask. Why not this company? This man is working for this company and walking back and forth through the kitchen. Food is being prepared and no face covering, no gloves, nothing! I had to tell Rubio's employee. Hey shouldn't this contractor be wearing a face mask since he's walking back and forth through the kitchen??

My favorite fast food joint! Pretty much this is the only fast food that serves healthy seafood! High quality lunch options here! I absolutely love this spot and wish it existed in Seattle!!

I tried them for the first time last month and I've been there about 6 times now. Have tried different items including Fish tacos, mahi-mahi tacos, puerto nuevo burrito, langostino lobster loaded nachos and quesadillas etc. I must admit, I have not been disappointed yet (knock on wood). Every time I get the food I expected. If I have to recommend something from the menu it will be mango blackened mahi-mahi taco plate. You won't regret it (unless you're not hungry)

They have the best shrimp tacos I've ever eaten. I totally recommend this place. The sauce , the veggies, the tortilla , the shrimp itself. DELICIOUS!

Good quality food, smart prompt staff, but no phone orders... so you have to place the order in store and wait a bit. The taco tortillas always do break apart, so I preferr to order a la cart fish items and some side orders. The fish portions are well sized and we'll seasoned. However, certain side orders are just too small so not worth ordering. I liked that the staff at this location had no problem customizing my order. Wether it was substituting or cancelling some items... It was not a problem for them to manage. It is a TRUE HEALTHY CHOICE, GOOD FISH RESTAURANT! Shall continue to frequent Rubio's locations!

The look on the girls face when she walked my order over was telling. She didn't want to do it. I don't know why her counter service was fine and I had no complaints until she walked my food to me

I could spect more ordered 3 srimp burritos were packed with just beans and rice, just tasted about 3 small srimps in my burrito for the price I was hoping to get a good meal, good luck to other customers and hope that they improve beter.

I'm a sucker for a salsa bar so this was perfect. There was a variety of yummy salsas, lemons AND limes, cilantro and onion. All very fresh. The young lady who took my order was very sweet. I got the chopped salad with chicken lunch special. It was $8.99 and included a drink. The salad was pretty good especially with the salsas. I can't wait to go back!

Ordered a mahi mahi taco and it was delicious. Definitely one is not enough for an average adult haha. Like their mild (red) & medium (green) sauces!

We used to go here about once a month. Nowadays, we visit about twice a year. I'm a member of their e-mail club so I'll receive some offers from them every other month or so. When I see something that I want to try, then I'll go there. These items are usually only available for a limited time. I'm yet to try one of these limited edition items which were really good. The old standby item that I'll order are their hand battered fish tacos. I like it's crispy taste. There is cabbage, salsa, and a white sauce inside the corn tortilla. Add some lime juice, and the taste of these fish tacos is enough to satisfy me. The food is affordable and always comes out quick, and I've never had troubles with the staff. Prices are even better when they e-mail their offers!

I've been a fan of Rubio's for years, I've been to this location a few times on my way to LA and they always have given great service. Unfortunately when I went today my fish was a bit raw, and I was scared to complain because you never know how people will react! However they remade my entire meal and the manager gave me a coupon for a free meal. That was a nice surprise! Definitely will continue coming to this location. Thank you!

I absolutely love this place. My boyfriend and never been so I took him. He loves Baja Fresh and I told him this place is kinda like it. He enjoyed his burrito but mentioned it is more expensive then Baja Fresh. I have the chicken tacos and he had a shrimp burrito.

This place is great. Great food. Great employees. Great atmosphere. On top of all that, the franchise or owner cares about the health and wellness of its employees and patrons.

Their food is delicious and nicely prepared. It's easy to order. The delivery is fast.

Staff needs to double check orders because they messed mine up. Ordered on the app and got chicken tacos instead of the steak ones I ordered and a side of chips instead of the beans I ordered. The receipt on the to go bag was correct, but staff wasn't paying attention despite it not being busy in here at all. Would not want to come back.

Food was okay. The girl taking the orders was not very friendly. Probably won't be back. Customer service is key.

I've probably walked/drove past Rubio's a thousand times on my way to Panda Express and have never thought to try it out. Wasn't till I heard they were giving back to the community and helping kids attend camp. Perfect excuse! Walked in and was immediately greeted with smiles (there's a ton of workers on staff) I ordered the California bowl with seared shrimp. I was told the green sauce goes better with the meal vs. the red so I trusted the employees advice and got green.....I should have got red! Lol Bowl came out hot and fresh. The green sauce was ok....but I opted for the salsa bar and got up twice for their picante sauce....SO good! Only complaint is I felt the black beans were too watery nothing a strainer can't fix though! I will be returning, their menu is pretty extensive I'd like to try more of it. Washed my meal down with a cold corona. I'll have to drag my other half here next time. Definitely a healthier choice. -Minus the beer calories ;)

Back in the day I visited Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill at least once or twice a month. I really liked their street tacos that come with chicken, steak or carnitas, but would occasionally try some of their other offerings. Then they completely revamped their menu to emphasize a full array of seafood offerings. I must admit, I was no longer a fan. Not only did I not like the taste of the few seafood items I tried, but it seemed like the price point rose significantly. I hadn't been back for many months, but while doing a Yelp search of local restaurants I stumbled onto Mike H.'s review that mentioned the Chicken Tortilla Soup and was immediately drawn in. I have a weakness for a nice spicy chicken tortilla soup and this is one of the better ones I've tasted. I ordered a bowl of it to go for three dollars and change and then made a few stops on the way home. It was still hot when I opened the to go container. There were slices of fresh avocado on top that kept their texture and even a slice of lime. I discovered, with the first spoonful, that there was a cheesy component to the soup. It made for messy eating but it was quite tasty. There were large white chunks of chicken, a LOT of chicken, mexican rice, tortilla strips, and veggies. Yummy! The cashier who took my order asked if I wanted flour tortillas to go with it, but I asked for corn tortillas instead as I usually prefer them. The soup was fabulous, but I was not a fan of the tortillas. I took one bite and then threw the rest away. I'd definitely come back to try the soup, and I did notice that they do still have the street tacos on the menu so I may even come back for them. I will not, however, be tempted by any of their seafood fare.

Great service! My husband says the food is better than Chipotle by far, while still getting a good bang for your buck.

How could I have missed Rubio's all these years? The salmon burrito was by far the best fish burrito to ever enter my mouth. Lime and chili sauce, fresh cabbage, guacamole...sigh. The only thing better than finding this Rubio's was finding out there's one not too far from where I live. TIP: The service is just as good as the food.

Rubio's never disappoints. I've only had their fish tacos but everytime they come out consistently yummy! Good variety of salsa and the food comes out much quicker than any other place I've had fried fish. Note: This location serves beer!

I actually used to like Rubio's. This was delivery. Never again. It wasn't fresh. The seafood smell was awful. It took over an hour and a half for delivery so I am sure that had something to do with it. It smelled unclean. My memory holds on and I won't go back. What was an "okay for fast food" became a "never again" disgusted. I can't eat food that smells like dirty kitchen. Seafood is just too much of a gamble. I hope they clean up. Just gross.

Just had the Mahdi burrito. Not fishing tastin and it was delicious. Good friendly staff. Got my bithday reward. Very generous. Thanks rubios.

The staff is always friendly and genuine. They are fast. The business is clean. The food is always fresh and amazing. I am personally obsessed with rubios chipotle sauce. So I order things off the menu that have that.

Overpriced sub-par food. We each ordered salad bowls and there was very little lettuce or what would pass for salad food in the salad bowls and the portions were small for the price.

This is the 3rd time "3rd TIME" I ordered the fish taco plate and the fish was all fried bread no fish maybe bad luck but dang 3 times and I had all fried breaded some what lil mini pieces of fish really upset and I'm always afraid to complain because I have heard plenty stories of employees spitting in food n dropping on ground on purpose

The food is good but our outdoor table was covered in dirt/dust. Made me wonder Hoe exactly long has it been since it was cleaned? I did see someone cleaning tables though...
