Hadn't been to Rubio's in a while, so decided to try it again. I hadn't gone to Rubio's in probably five or six years and I honestly cannot remember the last time I went to one.
I am so glad to see that the Rubio's menu has expanded and they offer a much broader choice of protein. I opted for the original fish taco plate with a side of beans and chips that come with the meal. I ordered my tacos without the tortilla and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food I got, and how tasty it was. I topped off my tacos and cabbage with the smoked chipotle, hot sauce. That hot sauce is not spicy at all so if you like taste, but not spice, this is your salsa. The pinto beans always get me! They remind me of the way that my mother makes them... They refried, smashed, and a little on the thick side with black pepper. I love them.
The restaurant was nice and clean. The service we got from the front counter was excellent and professional. When we were seated, eating our dinner, however, we could hear the people behind the counter in the kitchen, using cuss words and complaining about things loudly and people in the dining area could hear it. While I was enjoying my meal there was miscommunication between the front counter crew and the kitchen crew about an order, and the kitchen crew was upset, and the drama spilled into the dining room since they were yelling at each other. Personally, I think that is very unprofessional and it is the reason for my three star rating. I think the issue was about the order not being clear in the ticket, and the kitchen staff made something else and rather than accepting that it was not their mistake and moving on they continue to argue with the front counter person. The front counter person was very apologetic to the customer and apologized for the mixup, which was good.
Hopefully, the next time I pop in there isn't any drama! Other than that people, enjoy!
