Perfect "last Cali" meal before getting on the plane to go back to parts unknown! We were dropping off a friend at LAX who didn't want to have to eat overpriced airport food: we were able to find this Rubios just south of the airport and the service was nice and quick, the location was clean and had a small outside patio- just what our friend needed as a final dose of CA sunshine. You can't go wrong with the fish taco meal. I did get the taco special that came with a churro for the kid in our party and it did not disappoint- it's a half churro but just the right amount of sugar to tide you over until you're through security and can rest before your boarding call!

For a casual eating experience, the food was excellent. I had the rainbow bowl and no only was it a pretty plate it was yummy too.

First time trying this place and it’s so good I really enjoyed the steak salad 😮‍💨

Rubio’s for the WIN! We stopped at the one near LAX - so good!! We don’t have Rubio’s where we live and sought it out. I enjoyed the Original fish tacos and ordered a side of Mexican corn (thought it would be a corn cob) and received a fair serving of corn that was absolutely delicious!!

Tuesday Lunch time. Pretty busy, lots of aerospace companies in this area. Mostly standing room only unless you luck out on a table. Expect to wait 10 min or so for your food. Employees are working hard here. I ordered the fish taco plate (especial), comes with some beans and tortilla chips. Tacos were delicious, fish was nicely fried to a crisp, and they put eye perfect amount of toppings on the taco.

We both got tacos. I liked mine. My wife got the coastal trio (3 different fish tacos) & she only liked 1. And why no Dr Pepper? Mr Pibb sucks @$$, just get the real thing. The salsa bat was nice. Their diablo salsa is their hottest & it was spicy but not deathly hot. At least it was a few bucks less than our mediocre lunch

Google
Juicy burrito and incredibly juicy taco. If you’re craving something spicier, this is the place for you!

This is ny 3rd time coming to this location and it has always been a problem. Today I witness the kitchen staff making food on a contaminated counter where food was every. Then sanitizer water was poured on the counter and wiped down with a dirty rag. As the manager Jackie addressed it but then they continued to make food on the counter as opposed to putting down the paper or box for each order. Jackie took the trash out and came back to serving food and cleaning the salsa bar and didn't wash nobody hands. I waited 30 mins for 2 tacos and when I address it to Jackie she said that they are busy and wanted to go back and forth with me. It pissed me off cause people pay money for food as it's already expensive and this is how customers are treated. I promise I won't be back to this location it's just nasty and no accountability. It's sad cause I really wanted tacos and fries and now I had to drive 30 minutes away to another location. Really annoyed and I will be calling corporate this is unacceptable.

Yelp
I came here for lunch. I ordered two original fish tacos. They were prepared and served pretty quickly. The fried fish tacos were pretty good, though they definitely needed lime and hot sauce. The place is casual. They're going for a beach/ocean vibe. It was clean and well taken care of. Though I got fish tacos, there are other options. I'd eat lunch here again. It was a relatively quick place to get a tasty lunch.

Yelp
Quite a busy location even if we ordered ahead of time and it said it would be ready in 20 minutes, we still had to wait another 20 minutes when got there! Sigh. So be prepared to wait no matter what. Fish taco was nice and crispy, I'd order it again - it also held up in spite the wait and drive to bring home. I cannot tell the difference between the special and original fish tacos. You can skip the street corn, it's ok, but honestly, i make it better.

Yelp
The food here is always fresh. I either do takeout or pickup and I've never had a quality issue here, which is not easy for a seafood spot.

Yelp
Typical fast food restaurant ambience. Order at the counter and they'll bring it out. I have no complaints on my dinner. All three tacos were great. I think the original was my favorite and the shrimp was a very close second. The flavors were bold and everything tasted fresh. My chips had a hard crunch and the amount received was skimpy. The guacamole was very fresh, a great texture with avocado chunks and excellent flavor. My friend got blackened salmon which came with white rice and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. The chicken tortilla soup was rice, chicken and two slices of avocado on top. We looked to see if there was a chicken and rice side dish and they said it was the soup and showed us a ladle full of red broth stating it was in the bottom of the bowl. We assured them there was no broth one person tried to convince us there was and it had been soaked up into the rice. We told them no, there was nothing red or orange in the bowl with the white rice, chicken and two avocado wedges. They gave an apology and offered another soup. Good as it was and would have been, we were already stuffed and traveling so we thanked them and turned it down. Would I go back? Absolutely! If I wanted tacos and I was in the area I would not hesitate.

Yelp
Please Note that the issue below is resolved, but I cannot delete it??!! The food is fresh, with a varied menu and healthy options not found at other "faster food" restaurants. The cuisine is California Mexican, but tasty and they are good about customizing orders (I can't tolerate cilantro and we don't like cheese). The salsas tend to have a lot of cilantro and the one that is supposed to be picante, is hot and no cilantro. To me it lacks flavor, but I'm picky about salsa. Service is friendly. There are eat in and take out options and there is ample parking. Beware of their online ordering system: Check everything and do not leave without a correct receipt. I was not alone with app issues. Now, why the five stars after having had a terrible experience with the app? It took a while, but Rubio's resolved the issue in my favor even after my credit card resolved it in their favor. I never got the receipt for the corrected amount despite both charges appearing on my credit card, so it was hard to prove I had been charged twice instead of credited the overcharge. Hopefully the app issue is resolved, but they are good people, so order some food, mind your receipts and keep good food and people in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Rubio's fanatics, we love their food, freshly prepared and the signature Cajun fish taco is the BEST! We ordered 6 along with the street corn side and a street corn bowl full of rice, salad, and veggies using their online ordering and it was ready when it said, piping hot and yummy. Easy to order, easy to eat, don't forget their range of salsas to pep up your tacos.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me so long to try this place! For years, I lived down the street from a Rubio's, but I was always told that it wasn't that great, so I never tried it. But then one day, a friend of mine brought me a plate of fish tacos, and they were the best fish tacos I had ever had! I searched far and wide to figure out where they had gotten them from and found out that it was from Rubio's! As you can, imagine, I am now addicted to their fish tacos! They even have an option for a keto taco shell, which is just as delicious as the regular Shell!

Yelp
This place is always a winner, I got the California bowl with shrimp, it was so tasty, hot and fresh!! My friend ordered the nachos to share and it was large enough to feed 4 adults, the fresh guacamole, sour cream, salsa, cheese and crispy chips. The restaurant is always clean and nicely furnished and decorated. The service staff are nice and helpful, they delivered our food to our table. It was a pleasant dinner, recommend this restaurant!!

Yelp
Still wonderful after all these years. My favorite is the original fish tacos, topped off with a mixture of all the various salsas, peppers, onions, cilantro and white sauce. Absolutely love their salsa bar. Do miss the fresh made pico de gallo, please bring back. The cod was a generous size, made fresh and crunchy. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite! Just my favorite fish taco fix. Definitely a must go to, especially on Taco Tuesday!

Yelp
This POSITIVE review goes out to the female manager that is currently working at this location. When she's there you know the food is on point. This location has been pretty consistent, but when this particular manager is not there it seems like things are somewhat chaotic there. Overall this a a good location that stays busy. Mobile ordering is easy and food order is correct even when we make modifications. Give them a try!

Ron R.

Yelp
They need to improve everything they can think of. The staff who work here atthe time we came seemed they were not there or their minds, somewhere else. Thus, we got a lot of missing items or wrong items from our orders. Their costs are really expensive for the amount of food they serve. example, $2.95 for a very small pack of ordinary taco chips, almost $20 for 2 soft shrimp tacos in soft flour corn tortilla. When you're ordering you are seeing them working in their kitchen in full view. not sure if it's an everyday occurrence but things looked messy in there and a lot of trash on the kitchen floor. not a nice sight to see for a place where they prepare their food. We have been to eat in many different Rubio's locations, including this one in El Segundo. Definitely not the same level as Rubio's we have been familiar with.

Yelp
Good food, simple and fast. Chill casual ambiance! Mexican food with a coastal twist. I got one of their salads with blackened salmon. Healthy and delicious!

HY C.

Yelp
Beer battered fish taco is always the best and the service is also good. It might take a little while to get the food but that's acceptable because I can get fresh and crispy tacos.

Yelp
I don't understand the negative reviews for this location. I've been eating at that location for over a decade and I've always found the food very good and the people working there friendly, efficient, and very helpful. I go there weekly with my family for some fantastic Mexican food and have never been disappointed.

Yelp
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Rubio's had a lot of party still left in them by dinner. I was a little miffed that they did not have stickers as promised, as my grandson loves putting stickers on me. Oh well, at least I can get my 99 cents fish taco; but wait, I had to spend four times that amount in food to get two tacos! I am really gullible for these types of promotions which really are not so special when you have to buy expensive entrees to get a small prize. I guess I'll have to be more selective at choosing my promotions and whether it's worth my time and money...

Yelp
The area around the office I'm working out of in El Segundo has a pretty good selection of different lunch places including the Rubio's Grill. Pretty straightforward. I've been to a few of these places in the past and I love the consistency. I ordered the grill mahi-mahi burrito and once you order the person behind the counter asked which salsa do you want with it and with chips. I believe this is because of Covid protocols that they have to package salsa separately as opposed to having an open bar. Easy enough and less work for me. The burrito itself was delicious with grilled fish and a little bit of creaminess from the guacamole and salsa inside. The folks at this location are super nice and friendly and also super helpful. It's definitely going on my rotation of lunch places when I go into the office.

Linda B.

Yelp
I hesitated to write a negative review but in this case I'm hoping the restaurant that we used to love improves after reading so many negative reviews The last three visits were sadly disappointing. One week they ran out of corn tortillas and ran to Ralph's to try and replace their usually delicious tortillas. The next week they were out of Cilantro. Tonight they were out of limes and Diet Coke. All three of us agreed the food was not the usual great tacos we were used too. On top of the food issues the restaurant was freezing. Seems like they haven't been the same since the announcement of numerous restaurants closing.

Yelp
Love Rubio's. It's fast food, but always hot and fresh. Their original fish tacos are great. And their salsa is awesome. I also tried the Mexican Street Corn this weekend, which was delicious.

Keyea G.

Yelp
I have never had Rubio's. I was disappointed that my order arrived without all items ordered. Ordered the California bowl. None of the sauces ordered were received. The flavor of the chicken was bland and old tasting. This was not fresh at all.
google avatar

Bonnie R.

Yelp
When I'm traveling in or out of LAX, this is my "dedicated" Rubio's. Free parking, a clean restaurant, fast and friendly service, patio seating and a well stocked salsa bar are great. Food is fresh and cooked to order. Deducting one star because the bathrooms are a little less than ideal in terms of cleanliness. Otherwise a convenient and good experience every time!

Shelby A.

Yelp
I waited at the register for about 5 minutes before the employee looked over at me and then she continued what she was doing. Another employee told her that the line wasn't done and people still needed to order. She didn't acknowledge the other employee or me. They eventually took my order. The food was bland. And lukewarm by the time it got to me. Chipotle is better.

Yelp
Rubio's Coastal Grill was a secondary choice whilst we were in the area on 10/10/20. Parking in the area is in a free, shared lot. Some outdoor seating is available during COVID-19, however, all of the indoor tables are blocked off. For my takeout order, I requested "The Shrimp Trio." It comes with "Salsa Verde Shrimp Taco, Grilled Gourmet Taco™ with Shrimp and the Mexican Street Corn Shrimp Taco." On the menu, one of those tacos has a flour tortilla, but I was told I could have all corn. While I didn't expect the tacos to have as much shrimp as I always desire, I did expect them to have a bit more other filler items. And the other reasons this review isn't higher: 1) I specifically asked for all of my tacos on corn tortillas, then ended up with a mix of corn and flour as they have on their menu. 2) The chips were stale. If Rubio's is as "consistently" solid in this aspect as Tremaine E. pointed out on 9/14/20, then I'd rather spare myself the disappointment.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
I miss having Rubio's my our house in the SFV so was so excited to eat here and satisfy my fish taco craving. I ordered the taco especial plate and they skimped out on the cheese, forgot guacamole on our other taco especial order and messed up on our other taco order. The good part was my craving was satisfied and the fish taco was delish but just service was a little lacking.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Ordered a salad and the portions were smaller but it tasted pretty good. Definitely is fishy in nature of the food. Tasted good but I was a little displeased with the size. Service was great. Ordered and they brought the food to us
google avatar

Yelp
I come to this location weekly but lately it's hasn't been the greatest. Food is flavorless and food seems to always be cold. Hopefully they get it together before I have to give up on this location

Yelp
First time trying this spot and it was good. I got the shrimp mexican street corn bowl. Bowl came with Rice , beans , cheese , guacamole, shrimp, lettuce. Was definitely worth the 11 bucks. I still need to try the other food but all in all great restaurant.

Yelp
I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with my family. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the lunch specials offered before 2pm every day of the week. I ordered the chicken especial burrito lunch special and my husband ordered the 2 fish taco lunch special. Both selections were excellent and a great value. The only qualm I have is the stickiness to the table even after we wiped down the table, which Is likely attributed to the table lacquer and not the remnants of any food or drink l.

Yelp
Food is good but the lady there could be nicer. She seems to rush people. I think she's the manager and makes most of the orders. I'll try another Rubio's.

Yelp
just ordered mango avocado salad with mahi mahi. where's the damn mango salsa???!!! c'mon! wasnt even a busy time. please review the customer's order for accuracy before giving it. shame....
google avatar

Joel F.

Yelp
Food is regularly 15 minutes past the online ordering system's estimate, leaving me waiting upward of 30 minutes for food, especially during the lunch rush. Don't come here expecting fast service.

Yelp
BUG IN MY FOOD... moving too... I am very disappointed in my experience and hope this establishment takes the necessary needs to clean this up!!!!

Yelp
I had to wait a whole day before writing this review to actually identify if I was hangry or justly upset about my service experience. A day later and I can conclude it was the service. This 1 star review is geared towards Gloria, the manager, who addressed my concern in a very unprofessional manner. To preface, I've worked in the food service industry before and know when to accommodate the customer, especially if the customer is not being rude and has a reasonable complaint. After a long work day, I chose Rubios over Chipotle for their impossible burrito. The employee taking my order suggested the California burrito and that's what I went with. I took my order to go, and when I got home to take a bite, I immediately spit it out. The texture, consistency and taste mimicked carne asada. And I know what you might be thinking, "no duh it's impossible meat," but I'm a vegetarian of over 10 years and use impossible meat in my cooking. This didn't look like any impossible meat I've ever cooked or tried at restaurants. So, I called Rubios and spoke to Gloria. I told her that I believe they gave me carne asada/steak instead and she said no it's just impossible meat. She also asked if it looked crumbled like ground beef and I told her no, these are chunk like meat pieces. Regardless, she told me to come back to the store and will make me a new one, this time I asked her for a California veggie burrito, no impossible meat to ensure there's no mistake again. She told me to bring the original burrito back and hung up. Mind you, I'm tired after a work day and instead of just offering compensation she told me to drive all the way back to the restaurant. I came back to the restaurant handed her the burrito in the plastic bag and she picked it a part on the counter next to the register and told me "no, that's impossible meat. I knew it because I saw the chef cooking it." Even though she didn't mention seeing the cook make it during the phone conversation I had with her, or acknowledging that it did not have a crumbled texture but was chunked pieces as she picked it a part with her fingers on the countertop. At this point I just agree and tell her thank you for accommodating and making me a veggie burrito. When I asked if I can be provided the price difference (impossible protein is the most expensive on the menu) she checked it on the register and told me no. She mentioned that because California burrito doesn't have the option of "veggie" and only steak, chicken, impossible meat....she would charge me for the no meat option (again most expensive) for a veggie burrito ($15). At this point I say ok and leave extremely disappointed with how she handled the entire experience. Wish I would have just gone to chipotle. The Intention of this review is to kindly suggest customer service training for the manager at this location.

Yelp
We used to come to Rubios with our kids each TUE for Taco Tuesday... We come mostly to Manhattan Beach location for convenience but the lighting and openness of El Segundo and Torrance are more welcoming. Plus these locations have outdoor seating. Now that they have revamped their menu (I had strong trepidation - why fix what ain't broke?), we come twice a week. My 4 year old asked yesterday if he could have some "shrimperinos because they were yummy". The new menu allows you to more easily see the entree options: - Burritos and tacos as you always could with their former menu - Bowls (like Chipotle but pre-fixed) - Quesadillas (like Chipotle again!) And then you add your choice of protein - chicken, steak, shrimp or fish And God dammit, those shrimperinos are so well seasoned. They may always have been but the sauces and all the fillers in a burrito perhaps masked the deliciousness of those suckers. In a bowl, the shrimp show all their glory in an unfiltered glow. Go try the California Bowl with Shrimperinos!

Yelp
It is my first time here. I was craving tacos and the nearest authentic Mexican restaurant was far away from me as I don't have a car (I am visiting due to work). I decided to walk and passed near Rubio's. I decided to go in and ordered two tacos... my GOSH.. I don't know if it's the store or LAX itself but I feel like it is overpriced for no reason. Like, two tiny tacos for $11.59 Umm i don't know. The tacos were not superior at all. I'm sorry but I won't be returning. Customer Service is amazing though. Friendly staff.
google avatar

G R.

Yelp
Let the reader decide.... Is this side of Mexican rice worth $1.99 plus tax? The size is equivalent to getting catchup to go. Shameful greed at best!
google avatar

Yelp
Home of the original Fish Taco! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for excellent fish tacos! I had the Taco Trio, a great way to get a taste of three excellent items. Shrimp, Mahi Mahi and Salmon tacos. The Mahi Mahi Burrito is a most have. You can really taste the fish. Very generous portions. Plenty of vegetarian options! Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. Buon Appetito!

Allia A.

Yelp
The service was good the biggest problem was the California bowl. For the price it was not worth it at all, I got the shrimp rice bowl and there were only 6 small pieces of shrimp. Unacceptable.

Angel L.

Yelp
Run far away from this place although this is America, you are free to do what you like, but I will warn you shopping at this location will be expensive. Let me explain I went to Rubio's and as I entered, I heard customers that were seated eating their food complaining about it not having no flavor and the food being cold. Just by hearing that I should've turned around and walk away, but I wanted to give Rubio's a try since The last time I had Rubio's was when I was a kid. As I got home I ate my food and just as the customers stated no seasoning and bland. The next morning I woke up and had $160 missing from my account that was charged by DoorDash. I look at my transaction and Rubio's was the only place I use my card in a one week time frame. If it happens to, you don't bother calling the store as I did to speak to the manager, only to have her accuse me of blaming the employees. She even went as far to State that it's been happening for a while and that I wasn't the only person that got my information stolen which got me to believe that nothing has been done. I got manny more things to say, but I'm going to leave it here. if your still interested in going, go ahead, but I would recommend you pay with cash. Rate 2/10

Yelp
Not sure why this place was so terrible tonight, but they got almost every part of my order wrong. I went in at 5:20pm, waited 25 minutes for my food, just to go home and find out they messed up badly. I ordered a salmon burrito and a kid's chicken quesadilla. The choices are grilled or blackened for the salmon. I ordered grilled, but when I got home, I realized it was blackened. The chips that came with the burrito were stale. For the kid's meal, they gave us a cheese quesadilla (no chicken whatsoever), and the cheese was only on 10% of the quesadilla. They basically gave me a tortilla and tried to pass it off as a chicken quesadilla. The churro that came with the kid's meal was cold. The only redeeming thing was the fries (but it was a tiny portion, I'm talking about 6 fries, definitely not worth the 25 cent upcharge). Also, as I was waiting for my meal, they locked the front doors 30 minutes before closing time. The only open exit was a side door. This is a safety hazard and possible OSHA violation. If a fire had broken out, there would be chaos trying to exit. I'll never come back to this Rubios. Please do better.
google avatar

Andres A.

Yelp
This place has gotten a lot better since my last review. The staff is friendlier and more helpful!

John M.

Yelp
Filthy restaurant. The corn tortillas were stale with green mold. The fish was overcooked. Floors and tables disgusting. The limes were dried up. Wrote management but no response. Avoid this place!

Yelp
Visited this Rubio's today for lunch. The cashier was super friendly and smiling which is always a great start. I ordered a shrimp taco, a fish taco and a Grilled Chicken Burrito. They came with chips and salsa. 1. chips were nothing special, not stale just no taste and not salted or seasoned at all. 2. Chicken Burrito was SO dry. Mainly rice and beans. Didn't taste the guac much or the chipotle sauce at all. 3. Both the shrimp taco and fish taco were flavorless. They didn't taste like anything. If I were blindfolded there was no way to tell what was what. 4. Green salsa was ok. Picante Salsa wasn't that hot and didn't taste good. Overall, great server and bad food. No need for a return visit.
google avatar

Tremaine E.

Yelp
Note: I haven't been here since 2019, but I've come a few times. Rubio's is just consistently solid. If you don't want to eat pure fast food a la Taco Bell, you can hit up Rubio's and get a meal with a little bit better nutritional content. I usually get the two fish tacos plate. The fish is beer-battered Alaska Pollock and is served on corn tortillas along with cabbage and salsa (gotta bring the hotter sauces to the table though) along with pinto beans. They have outdoor seating and curbside pickup right now; I look forward to the day we can all safely return indoors, because the atmosphere inside is generally quite pleasant and especially bustling on work days.

Yelp
Fish quality has been a hit or miss in my last few visits :( Staff here is still great though! Also hoping that they can look to more sustainable packing like the Manhattan beach location has.
google avatar

Eddie K.

Yelp
For fast food fish tacos, these are pretty good. I didn't get a chance to eat fish tacos at the more popular upscale restaurants this trip around, so I was quite happy to see this location is five minutes from the Hyatt Place LAX. We shared two original fish tacos and one fish taco especial. My favorite was the fish taco especial. It has the same ingredients as the original one but also adds guacamole, cheese and a cilantro/onion mix. It is worth the extra 30 cents. The salsa bar is great. Added more cilantro/onion mix and mild salsa. I wish Rubio's opens up in the East Coast - especially in the DC area.
google avatar

Gregory S.

Yelp
Visited this location I ordered 5 lunches 4 Mexican street corn bowls, 2 with salmon and two with shrimp, and 2 fish tacos. The bowls were inedible, the salmon was old, the guacamole way too sour, the shrimp was no better. All were trashed! The fish tacos had 1 piece of grilled fish maybe 1" x 1/2" and so dry the fish crumbled. This location was so disappointing, the one close to my home is so good. I called corporate and they said a manager would call and if I had the receipt I may get a refund for the $80.00 waste. No call, went into the store with the receipt, and GLORIA the manager was extremely rude. No help and told me to wait for gift cards in the mail. She then walked away. No more Rubio's el Segundo for me!!! The management has responded. I tried to answer back with address they provided it would not go through. Please provide a better address or phone number

Yelp
Always a good experience. Love their seafood burritos. The kitchen is open so you can see them making most of the items on the spot. (At least I pretend not to look, but it's cool to watch). Yesterday I had their mahi-mahi burrito. Was excellent. They also have a patio for al fresco dining. Easy parking in the little food court area too.

Yelp
Like coming by on Tuesdays after 2:30 PM to grab some fish tacos for ~$2. Their asada taco is pretty good too, that one is ~$3. Sometimes the tacos don't come out hot, so what I like to do is get one corn and two flour and start with the corn tortilla taco since the flour tortillas can still have a good texture when they aren't warm. I like that they have a salsa bar and the staff has always been polite here. Pros: + Fish Taco Especial + Carne Asada Taco + Salsa Bar + Good deal on Tuesdays + Cool staff Cons: - Tortillas aren't always warm when served

Food-gasm!!! These tacos elicited humming and the happy shimmy on the first bite. The best taco I ever had, amazing. I would've never thought to create a shrimp and bacon taco but come on..bacon makes everything delicious. I also appreciated the thickness of the corn tortillas, held up to the moisture of the Chile sauces. The gentleman at the counter was very informative and helpful as this was my first visit. His suggestion of the gourmet shrimp taco was spot on after asking me a few foodie questions. I also ordered a oatmeal chocolate chip cookie...it was yummy. Overall, this was a great place for tacos. Service was fast, staff was nice, dining area was clean, and the food was great. You also get nice sized portions. I'll definitely go back
