Where to Savor New Orleans’s Best Shrimp and Grits

"With a growing number of locations in New Orleans, Metairie, Lafayette, Orange Beach and Pensacola, Ruby Slipper does breakfast right and has the crowds to prove it. Slurp an excellent Bloody Mary and tuck into the Slipper’s version of shrimp and grits swimming in a beer and rosemary butter sauce over creamy stone ground grits, a biscuit on the side. The grits are so good, it might be prudent to order an extra side." - Beth D'Addono

The Best Spots for a Pre-Carnival Parade Bite on Canal Street

"This local chain, founded here in 2008, is known for a great brunch, a potent bloody Mary, and creative eggs Benedicts with plenty of Southern flare. Ruby Slipper serves a terrific bananas foster pain perdu, there’s a kids’ menu, and a full range of eye opening cocktails. Open for breakfast and lunch only." - Beth D'Addono

Amazing service. The staff here are fantastic. Very kind and get you taken care of very quickly. The biscuits and gravy was pretty good. There could have been some more gravy but the biscuit was fresh and delicious. And the bacon….wish you’d get more. So good! I would definitely recommend Ruby Slipper

I try not to be to harsh with reviews while on vacation because I know places have to deal with a lot in busy areas however this was just a bad experience. So bad that I didnt even leave a tip. The service here at this location was terrible. And it was not just our waitress, we sat at the bar first while we waited for our table and the bar team ignored us for like 20-25 min. We sat there with others food in front of us until one of the ladies asked was that everything. We were shocked and said we have not even been greeted let alone ordered yet. After that we were seated and our waitress really asked as if we were a burden on her day. Bad bad bad service, she thought we were sat down from another area im not sure what was wrong but we didn’t see much of her after. There was one good thing, my bloody mary was very good. And the bar tender did give me a side of the pickled green beans which kinda made up for being ignored earlier. Cheap place with cheap breakfast options but dont go here expecting to have good service because it wont happen.

The service was speedy. We went for breakfast and was seated immediately. Down in a lively are of New Orleans, I ordered the Smoked Salmon omelet and substituted the grits for the fruit. So fresh. The omelet was so good. I ordered the mimosa flight and it was just okay. Our server was so attentive, I wish I could give her more than 5 stars for spectacular service. We did walk from our hotel so I can't speak on parking but we did enter on a side with stairs. So I would check if they have handicap access before you go.

The food was delicious, and our server was nice but MAN it is cold in here! We visited last week during some of the most humid weather I've experienced, so it was a nice change, but my whole table had goosebumps 😫 I had the smash burger with fries, the fries were seasoned perfectly

Sat down and no one greeted us for 5 minutes. Our server Ashira greeted us like we were a burden to her day and asked what we wanted. We ordered the peaches and cream beignets, biscuits and gravy, and banana foster. The peaches and cream beignets looked nothing like the picture and were instead served as beignets bites in a sludge of sauce. The runner as he was dropping it off was holding it with his hands grasping inside the dish. The biscuits and gravy themselves were good, however the eggs were ice cold and looked like they were scooped straight out of a bucket. The banana fosters looked disgusting, the bananas weren’t fresh and the french toast looked like it had been getting soggy in the kitchen for a while before it was served. A manager came by and asked how everything was, we told him the banana fosters looked gross and we didn’t want to eat it. He argued with us about the bananas being fresh and when I insisted we wouldn’t eat it he begrudgingly took it back and hid in the corner of the restaurant gossiping with the staff while avoiding us for the remainder of our time there. Side note - While the entire staff was avoiding us, the bus boy finally came to clear the dishes and a knife flew off from the plate and hit my girlfriend. PSA: pretend to love the gross food or else they will try to stab you! The server came about 10 minutes after our food was cleared to finally greet us again to close us out. She told us the banana fosters was removed from the check and insisted something about how all restaurants in New Orleans cook their bananas and the bananas would be old and gross no matter where we went. She continued to breath down my neck as she handed me the reader to make sure I tipped her 20% for taking our order and avoiding us the rest of the time while runners put their hands in our food. It’s mind boggling to me how this seemingly cute restaurant has so many great reviews. Would recommend a restaurant, that at a minimum, serves fresh eggs.

I loved their Bacon!!! Breakfast was delicious and on point. Service was fast considering it was a busy Saturday morning. I even got the pleasure of watching a jazz band waltz through while enjoying my bacon.

Google
The atmosphere and vibe were on point. We had a 20-minute wait because they were so crowded. It didn't take long to get our food once we sat down. The staff were very friendly and polite. Everything was seasoned well and very favorable. Everything was fresh. The fried chicken biscuit sandwich was delicious. You can never go wrong eating at this restaurant.

Google
Great breakfast diner. Large place, easy to get a table. Brittany was our server, very nice person. The mimosa flight was fun. Ordered Florentin omelet & build your own...both excellent. Their biskets with cane butter are to die for.

Yelp
Pro tip: it is busy on Sunday morning, and if you one or two people, sit at the bar. You can skip the line for a table, space available. Food is tasty, service is quick from the server and the kitchen. It's a bit loud but not too much that you can't have a conversation.

Yelp
Third time here on our ( Ashira F.) waitress, my omlet dripping in butter/ oil, toast not toasted ( just bread ) Not impressed

Yelp
The food was mediocre and so was the service. The host was far from pleasant. It seemed very busy and understaffed. Though our server did her best to make up for the poor experience we initially had, the food was far from good. It's clear there's issues amongst the staff which trickle down to the quality of the experience and food. I will not be returning.

Yelp
We set a reservation for our rather large party (8) around 10:30 and were given an estimated time of 11:45-12:05. We were seated around 12:20 - understandable, given the many parties waiting, it was a Saturday, game day, etc. However, after being seated it was another hour and a half before we got our food. As they brought the food out, we were informed the kitchen was out of shrimp and two of our party had to re-order around 1:40. Miraculously, the food they reordered came out quickly. The food was decidedly mid -- several items burned, the vegetarian in our group was delivered food with bacon in it despite multiple explanations of the dietary restriction. Ultimately, the kitchen was in no way equipped to serve so many parties in a timely manner. That's understandable and no one's fault, but it made it incredibly challenging for us to plan our day appropriately and meet the needs of our group. I would usually say to anticipate a wait for places as busy as this one, but an hour is nuts. Just a heads up if you come here! We were grateful for the kindness and apologies of the staff and that the manager offered to comp our meal at the end.

Yelp
Decided to grab brunch here on a Saturday, and the wait time was over 45 minutes. Good idea to join the waitlist in advance on yelp, and check in when you get closer in line. Service was okay, they did forget our utensils, which caused us to go over to the bar and grab some ourselves. Aside from that, restaurant was very clean, staff was friendly. Ordered the bananas fosters french toast, a side of eggs with cheese and the breakfast sandwich with sweet heat chicken on a biscuit. The eggs were pretty basic, standard eggs. The french toast was delicious! Cooked to perfection, not too overly sweet but just the right amount. No syrup needed. The chicken biscuit was pretty good, especially the glaze they use, with the potatoes seasoned to perfection. Great place to have brunch if you have the time or maybe visit on a different not-so-busy day.

Yelp
I have always heard that this is the place to patronize when visiting New Orleans. Happy to report that I was not led astray. My experience at the Ruby Slipper was an enjoyable one. A group of us travelled to New Orleans for the Essence Festival and were staying within walking distance of Canal St. The two ladies at the hostess stand were not pleasant at all. In fact they were bland and very unwelcoming. We informed them that we joined the waitlist online and after seeing available seating at the bar, we asked if we should just sit there. They rudely told us that we could not move the chairs at the bar to accommodate our party and would just had to wait for two separate tables due to the size of our group and to wait outside to be called. Our waitress on the other hand was amazing. She was attentive, helpful and very friendly. She definitely provided that southern charm that you expect for a New Orleans restaurant. The inside of the Ruby Slipper gave old-school diner vibes. It was cozy and comfortable, but there really needs to be someone walking around actively cleaning the floors as they were sticky and a bit grimy. I completely understanding that the restaurant is high-volume, but not an excuse to skim on cleanliness. As for the food, I started with the Fried Green Tomatoes....AMAZING is not even the word! I love fried green tomatoes when they are executed properly and these were cooked perfectly. I also ordered the Peacemaker, which was a mix and match of two benedicts entrees. I selected the Eggs Cochon and the Chicken St. Charles and both were really, really good. Really enjoyable experience, would love to return!

Yelp
We got The Trifecta (egg benedict trio) and the seasonal fried chicken and brussels. Both were delicious! Our waiter Jonathan was so attentive and polite. He made our experience great! The wait time given by the hostess was also very accurate. Would return in a heartbeat!

Yelp
Rainy day but it was bustling at Ruby Slipper. Sat down immediately, nice hostess. My waitress was nice and responsive. The place was clean and bright liked that a lot. Food was very good. We had the three little pigs omelette, it was good, omelette a little over done. We also had the sweet heat chicken and French toast bites, we gave it 4 out of 5. The biscuits and gravy was good as well. The best thing was the biscuits!!! Light fluffy and absolutely to die for. Love it. I'm returning tomorrow, part 2!

Yelp
Prior to my trip to the French Quarter, I had researched that the Ruby Slipper Cafe was a go-to spot for your standard breakfast fare. I quickly discovered that it was actually a chain restaurant and offered several locations within the French Quarter, including one that was walking distance from our hotel! We arrived to the location early enough to beat the brunch rush, which was intentional as I read many reviews about how long the wait can be and knew that they do not accept reservations. In our favor, we arrived early enough that we were sat immediately! Having the understanding that the Ruby Slipper Cafe is a chain, you do get the "chain restaurant" feeling as you walk through the restaurant (gives off the feeling off a nicer version of an IHOP). With that being said, the decor was very New Orleans inspired, retro, and bright/inviting. Additionally, our waitress was incredibly hospitable and kind, which made the overall experience enjoyable! We started off our meal by ordering some beverages from the drink menu, which is offered a wide variety! I decided on the Lavender Paloma and my husband ordered an Iced Irish Coffee. When I ordered the Lavender Paloma, they did mention that the syrup was just mixed and might be a bit tart - that was QUITE an understatement. It was very thick and incredibly sour. After I mixed the drink a bit more to dissipate the strong concentration gathering at the bottom of the drink, the flavor started to improve significantly! My husband mentioned the Iced Irish Coffee was great, and having the iced option was refreshing. Now, after a long extended weekend in New Orleans, I made the shocking realization that I had not yet had a serving of Shrimp & Grits! I knew I had to order it, but had reservations about ordering it since it was cooked with Pork Tasso in it and I do not eat pork. They were kind enough to offer to pull the larger pieces out of the mixture for me which was incredibly sweet of them, as I could have done that myself. I was so pleased by the level of customer service they showed with this. As far as the dish goes, I was very glad I ordered the Shrimp & Grits! It was so flavorful and rich. Additionally, the buttermilk biscuit was wonderful; perfectly buttery and fluffy. From what I could tell, my husband enjoyed his Chicken St. Charles benedict, and it really was a sight to behold! Quite possibly one of the largest versions of eggs benedict I have ever seen! Although the Ruby Slipper Cafe is a chain that spans across the south, they offered great customer service and the feeling of southern hospitality. The meal was enjoyable and we would definitely return to any of their locations to enjoy another meal here again.

Yelp
After day one to Ruby Slipper it became a usual morning routine during the week lol. The weekend had large groups of tourists taking up the more than two spots which is cool. However. I was recognized by the staff it soon was "Lloyd O". And quick seating. No worries I didn't push anyone aside for my spot. That is a big No No for me. But how can I miss my morning Bourbon Milk. Yummy. PS the grits were the best I had don't forget add the cheese!

Daniel B.

Yelp
Waited 45 minutes while staring at open tables all over the place while host talked to her friends

Yelp
Great Bennies, shrimp and grits, and bacon Bloody Mary to write home about. Meir did a great job taking care of us!

Yelp
Great place to stop and get brunch after a fun night on Bourbon Street. We walked here from our Airbnb with a group of 10 people from a bachelorette party. We put our names on the waitlist before we came in and I assumed that once our name was on the waitlist once we showed up our table would be ready if we were number one on the waitlist, but the waitlist was just getting you put in line. We still had to wait another 20 minutes after being first on the waitlist so make sure you check in when you do the online waitlist. The service was very good and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I enjoyed my fried chicken and French toast, sticks with honey and the shrimp and grits were also very good. My friend got an iced coffee and enjoyed it. We also got the beignets to share and they were yummy.

Yelp
The food was amazing! The biscuits were fluffy and the mimosas were the right amount of strong for a birthday weekend my favorite was the watermelon the servers were so kind letting me charge my phone and even gave me some area to go to after I finished breakfast. Ended up having the best day. The vibe is very family oriented. Love that it's on the corner of canal
google avatar

Gus F.

Yelp
Good brunch, great mimosas! Good selection of breakfast/brunch items. Chose the Trifecta Benedict, so good! Add the mimosa flight, highly recommend! Thanks Lydia for the great service.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper came highly recommended by the locals in New Orleans and I'm glad I got to try it! We didn't get a chance to get there until it was almost closed so it wasn't very busy, but the vibes were cool. Even though we came in near closing, they were still very kind and welcoming which I appreciated. Our server was really nice, asking a lot of questions about where we're from and what we've done while in town. I got the chicken st. Charles and it was so good! The chicken was seasoned well and the eggs were fluffy! My friend got the Spanish omelet and a pancake on the side. I tried her pancakes and the butter definitely set it off. It was sweet but not overly sweet which was great because you could still use syrup and be fine. I tried the uncle nearest Paloma per suggestion of our sever. It was refreshing but the history behind uncle nearest alone was enough for me to try the drink.

Yelp
Although we were seated immediately, everything else about this visit was unacceptable. We had a large group that was broken up into three tables but near each other. Each table had a different server which I thought would lead to decent service. Nope. First, the temperature of everything was inconsistent. My first cup of coffee was cold. My food was cold with a semi-hot fried green tomato on it. Others had a similar issue where the chicken was hot but the brussel sprouts were cold. The French toast bites were dry and inedible. And then they ran out of silverware! We got there at 9:15 in the morning. When our food came, we were given plastic to-go cutlery while silverware was being washed. Shouldn't restaurants have a set of cutlery for every seat in the place, at minimum? We eventually got freshly washed cutlery but we were mostly done with our food by then. We had to follow up on requests several times. One breakfast came out with only one piece of bacon when it should have come with two. After asking about it, several minutes went by before the bacon showed up. Biscuits came out with no butter and we had to ask for the butter and then wait several minutes again to get it. We were offered to-go cups of beverages but they ran out of lids for those so everyone in our group didn't get one. I've been to NOLA several times and had several brunches. I would consistently hear about Ruby Slipper and how great it was. I disagree. After this experience, it's overhyped.

Yelp
Tanya was amazing!! She was attentive and made us feel so welcome. The food was incredible. We were blown away by the spicy chicken benny. What a great experience!
google avatar

Yelp
First time visiting this restaurant which was close to our hotel, spacious and well staffed. We were seated immediately (830am) and met our server " Tanya". Tanya had a great spirit/ personality and took the time to explain the menu and her favorite dishes. Tanya wasn't wrong, I ordered the " trifecta" which included three biscuit topped dishes. One had fried green tomato, egg of your choice, shrimp with a spicy tomato sauce , the second included shredded pork, egg, covered with a creamy sauce. the third, fried chicken breast, egg, creamy mushroom sauce. . Absolutely delicious AF. One of the best breakfast I've had. We're definitely returning before we leave Louisiana, one of the best food locations I've been to. Thanks Tanya
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place. From the get go and touching down in NOLA the locals say that Ruby Slipper has the best breakfast. I did not find that to be true. The mimosa came in a plastic wine glass, bacon over cooked, nothing special about the biscuits and gravy, and the sweet heat chicken and French toast bites were more like croutons. I was definitely not pleased with the French toast bites. They were too fried and tasted crunchy versus soft pillowy bites of French toast. The sweet heat was sweet and definitely not spicy. The strawberries was a very interesting addition to the mix. I only ate a couple of strawberries and did not finish my food. Sadly the Ruby Slipper was a disappointment.

Yelp
What an amazing find just a short walk from the Jung Hotel on Canal Street! My husband and I had breakfast and cannot speak highly enough about this special restaurant. Food and service were great! We enjoyed the positive attitude and warm smiles. Make sure you go by because you will not regret it! And tell Pamela, our waitress, we say Hello! She was terrific! Rebecca & Jim Hedgecock

Courtney H.

Yelp
This wrestler Bryant was a disappointment. There was hair in my food. The beignets were not good. They like flavor. The fried green tomato were not fried crispy and my daughter didn't enjoy her shrimp and grits.

Yelp
Recently, I came across an article that purported to list all the top breakfast and brunch spots in New Orleans. To my surprise, the Ruby Slipper wasn't even mentioned. I couldn't let this oversight slide, so I pointed out that any such list lacking the inclusion of Ruby Slipper lacks credibility in my book. I also made sure to highlight that Ruby Slipper wouldn't have expanded to so many locations if they weren't truly exceptional. For me, Ruby Slipper is more than just a restaurant; it's my go-to spot, my sanctuary of flavors. Among their various locations, the one on Burgundy St. holds a special place in my heart. It's not just the delicious food that keeps me coming back, but also the familiar faces of the staff who've been there for years. This continuity speaks volumes about the quality of management. The ambiance at Ruby Slipper is always inviting, and the food is consistently excellent. Their menu is a treasure trove of innovative dishes, each one a delightful surprise. Whenever I bring out-of-town guests here, they're so enchanted that they start considering a move to New Orleans themselves! The only reason I don't dine at Ruby Slipper more often is my own willpower, trying to resist the temptation of gaining extra pounds from indulging in their delicious offerings.

Yelp
Great food, ambience and service. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
Good service, decent food. I sat at the bar and both bar servers were friendly and quick. The biscuits and gravy were really good, but my eggs were not cooked as ordered. The vanilla iced coffee was also good and just what I needed on a warm morning.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
I enjoyed breakfast this morning at this location. We arrived before many hungry patrons started to arrive. I began with a Cranberry Mimosa that was a perfect thirst quencher. For my meal, I ordered the Southern Breakfast special, which consisted of two eggs, applewood bacon (no soggy bacon here), a fried green tomato (fried deliciously), and a biscuit (surprisingly delicious). I enjoyed every bite, and the meal gave me a great start to a new day! Service was swift and pleasant and checkout was a breeze.
google avatar

Teresa D.

Yelp
Breakfast was amazing. They have a very unique menu. Gourmet pancakes and French toast. Mimosas. Loved it
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Went to the new location on Canal and was not as good as the previous one I been to but it was good. The french toast bites were somewhat crispy so I didn't really enjoy them. Also they don't come with the cream cheese sauce that the appetizer comes with which enhances them and makes you want them again. The chicken saved the dish! It was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the mikes hot honey was a great balance! My dad had the shrimp and grits and loved it! The sausage and bacon throughout elevated this dish and made it one that he would come back and try! That dish pushed my review up from 3 to 4 stars.
google avatar

Yelp
Welcome Back! Be sure to make reservations on their website for the location you are going to eat (Hint). We checked in and were immediately taken to our table (Woohoo). Even though there was a line outside. The decor was purely New Orleans cable cars etc. This location is definitely larger. Our Waitress was nice and she had a side kick Gator puppet name Chomper? Lol. He didn't speak much. My plate BYO omelet tasted so fresh does that make sense. I added spinach. The grits were so good and creamy. Pancakes I wish were a-little more on the puffy side BUT was not quite tough but not quite fluffy. IN THE MIDDLE. My GF ordered the Migas with shrimp. They were soooo good the few times she let me taste lol. She wanted it all!! lol. The shrimp was seasoned with a Creole style good. Next time it will be Shrimp with Grits for me!! The Mimosa Flight was a selection if you are not quite sure which one you would want. Glass size was a good size. Definitely a Flight worth taking. Overall if you in New Orleans definitely add this place to your Food for Life Bucket List, lol. Bon Appetite!

Yelp
Everything was so half done and done sloppy. I sat at the bar and the bartender was being very careless with food handling and safety. He had on a glove and all of the finger were torn off. Nails had 7 layers of buildup. The drinks he made us were not consistent. When our food came out her my tacos were just thrown together. I had a smushed tater tot on my plate. The potatoes of my accompanying guest were little potato chips, they were so crunchy. On top of that the bartender forgot our order. The guy with the torn glove and dirty nails.. with inconsistent drinks was tall. Bald and had glasses maybe if they weren't so busy things could have been properly made and presented. It was a huge turn off to have a meal that was half -as**ed.

Yelp
We were greeted when we walked in. Everyone was friendly. We were seated immediately, so no wait. This is my third time visiting this restaurant in three different cities. Each one has been different. When I visited Florida earlier this month, they did something special to celebrate my birthday, but in New Orleans, they didn't. My food also tasted a little different. They did have $5 drink specials. Nothing strong at all, though.
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
Convenient brunch spot that was close to my hotel! It was about a 20ish minute wait on a Saturday morning. Cute diner style restaurant, no frills. The food came out pretty fast. I got the "morning margarita" and it was painfully sweet. My friends ordered a cocktail each and said the same thing. I ordered the southern breakfast and it was great. It was the best fried green tomato I had all weekend! The Grits were perfect and the biscuit was tasty. I would skip the drinks completely and just eat. Bourbon street is around the corner.
google avatar

Staci D.

Yelp
Loved the chicken and French toast bites! The pumpkin latte was amazing! Long line, make the waitlist so you are not waiting forever in line.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely the best dining experience I've had in a long time. Our server Paige was amazing and so sweet. She was attentive and right there when we needed her. I highly recommend you to see if you can get her as your waitress! I ordered the chicken and french toast and that was seriously to die for. It was hot and perfectly cooked. Very yummy!!!

Yelp
So came here for breakfast it was right next to our hotel today's our last day in New Orleans came over here had breakfast it was outstanding actually it was the best restaurant we've eaten at since we've been here service was great Meal was great gave me a very nice military discount 15% which was very appreciated would I be back absolutely do I recommend it big time the biscuits and gravy were great by the way but everything was good.

Yelp
Great service.. Wasn't crowded at all.. Got seated right away... Big portions for the dishes which was good and you got a lot of food for your money. Honey hot chicken dish was different but good.. Chicken had flavor but wasn't too spicy but like hot it was paired with the French toast bites.. Biscuits and gravy were huge, a lot of flavor and the gravy had sausage in it.. The dish came with bacon and eggs. My server name was Kennisha and she was great!!
google avatar

Hiram M.

Yelp
Third time in NOLA and third time eating at Ruby Slippers. This place never disappoints. This place tends to get really packed especially on the weekends. Please be patient and make sure to treat the staff properly. Our server was Paige and she treated us very well. 5 for her. The food is always on point. My wife orders the shrimp and grits and loves it. I ordered the biscuits and gravy.. so good!

Korie T.

Yelp
We joined the waitlist on yelp before even making our way over. It was about an hour and a half wait. When we got there we were told we could sit at the bar which was kind of a bummer because we wanted a table but at the point we were so hungry we sat at the bar. The service was slow. It was like they only cared about pushing out drinks and not about your food. Once we finally got our food it was pretty good. We tried the candied bacon, the tots, eggs Cochon and biscuits and gravy. I had no complaints about the food just wish the wait hadn't of been so long... because I don't feel like it was worth it. If you're going here check in ahead of time so you dont have to stand outside waiting.
google avatar

vivian r.

Yelp
I finally made it to Ruby Slipper!!!! Only a 20 mins wait. We went at 1:30pm ish Just for context. It was 5 of us so I sampled many things. My two favorites were to tater tots and the fried green tomato appetizer. The French toast bites were a nice touch but not knock your socks off: The other two appetizer were knock your socks off. The one entree that was knock your socks off were the bread pudding pancakes. My trifecta honestly was a bit disappointing. Next time I come I'll be getting an omelette. My friend had the biscuits and gravy. That was good. He said the grits were delicious. So, I definitely recommend. I wouldn't wait two hours though.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
So yummy and so much food. We arrived early after a.....very....late.....night in the French quarter. We didn't have to wait at all which great. True to New Orleans fashion we ordered a coffee, a water, and a Bloody Mary to cover all aspects of how we were feeling! It was perfect. The shrimp and grits hit the spot first thing in the AM. My GF ordered eggs Benny. Which was cool because you can do a sampler platter and pick which bennys you'd like. Food and service were great and fast! Super cute place with an awesome vibe. 10/10.
google avatar

Yelp
Although there was a usual wait line - we got drinks and waiting - short wait and was seated. Great French toast bites and the shrimp and grits - classic New Orleans!
google avatar

Mai S.

Yelp
- I recommend taking the trip to the Metairie because the French Quarter & CBD locations get crowded Food was delicious- we had berry beignets not too sweet , crunchy outside and chewy inside Mimosa flight- Order it if you love sparkling wine- the juice wasn't prominent French Toast Bites- French toast has cinnamon sugar, cream cheese glaze, and a sauce so it can be sweet- The texture of the french toast are crispy and chewy as well- The white chocolate bread pudding pancake was A1!! The bread pudding is mixed in the batter not filled- texture is fluffy, dense, crispy buttery edges- so good you don't need syrup The pineapple upside down pancake was good as well. The bacon was so flavorful it tasted like ham- I must commend our server because she asked if we prefer chewy or crispy bacon- which is important because they have very distinctive taste The cobb salad was good as well - flavorful chicken and dressing- I got it to go & they left out the pepper jack cheese and candied bacon- I menu seems very chef forward and deliberate which I appreciate

Yelp
In New Orleans for a weekend girls trip. Came here for breakfast on Saturday morning. They don't take reservations but since we got here at 9a there wasn't wait time. The loaded tater tots and French toast bites were the best appetizers. Our group of 6 got coffee which was decent. The vanilla spiced latte is good but an iced coffee which we didn't realize. Our entrees were delicious. I enjoyed Chicken St Charles and Biscuist and gravy. Our party also ordered drinks of bloody Mary, morning margarita and Mambo 75. This place is a must visit if you are in NOLA and after eating here I can see why.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper was recommended to us upon arrival from multiple groups, so of course we had to try it. Needless to say we were far from disappointment!!! The food was just incredible however, our phenomenal waitress Tonya elevated our experience by recommending her favorite eats. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the shrimp and grits cause, well...I was hungry. BUT!! I did get a shot of the sweet heat chicken & french toast bites. Stop on by and ask for Tonya!!! She's amazing!!!

Yelp
Started off with a dead bug in my water that freaked me out (separate post) and thought about leaving. Husband reminded me that what you don't see can hurt you more than what you see, so I continued. I'm glad we did. We both ordered the Southern Breakfast which came with a cup of grits (they made them the way I like!), two eggs to your liking, two slices of bacon (cooked the way I like them), buttermilk biscuit (nicely made!), one fried green tomato (my slice was small and over fried) and a container with a flavored maple-like butter that tasted very good on my biscuit. Despite the bug and over fried green tomato, the rest of my breakfast was pretty solid. I think I would go back and at this point, feel the bug as one off but should be noted.

Yelp
The breakfast experience at the restaurant was incredibly frustrating. We were told there would be a 30-minute wait, but after over an hour, we still hadn't received a text, only to see a larger party that arrived after us get seated first. Once we were finally seated, the restaurant didn't have napkins or utensils readily available, which was surprising. When the food arrived, it was bland and definitely not worth the price. Overall, the service was disorganized, and the food was mediocre at best. I wouldn't recommend this place for breakfast.

we all got the same thing but boy was it good!! we got to mix and match the eggs Benedict and I preferred the one with pork on it but both were yummy and wow! our fav brunch in nola. the piggy bacon was yummy was well, like how there's a little sweetness to it. and the potatoes were the perfect saltiness. staff at this particular one was so friendly!

Yelp
I was staying Nextdoor at the Ritz Carlton and it was convenient to go here so my daughter and I went for breakfast Sunday morning not real packed still early. Scrambled eggs were cold and definitely some sort of egg mixture not real eggs, biscuits cold, coffee not hot, very mediocre food. Great server so I still tipped well it wasn't her fault but very disappointing meal.

Yelp
For sure this location has hugely improved customer service compared to the CBD Ruby Slipper location. My friend ordered the Sweet Heat Chicken & French Toast Bites and I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich with an over medium egg and side of fruit. My breakfast sandwich was yummy and I loved the spicy sausage patty except they didn't cook my egg as I asked for. I asked for over-medium egg and the yolk is supposed to be slightly runny a little, but they cooked it over-well, ughh lol, so I didn't enjoy the sandwich as much. The fruit was fresh and the biscuit tasted good. My friend's dish was tasty from the few bites I tried. The Beignets Starter was good but not fantstic beignets like Cafe Du Monde. I had to ask for more powdered sugar on the side because the beignets didn't have enough per my preference. The Ruby Slipper Mimosa was bomb and you could tell they made it with fresh squeezed orange juice. Recommended spot for mimosa brunch in NOLA.
