I'm an absolute sucker for a blast from the past and that's exactly what Ruby's Diner is. When you walk into Ruby's Diner, you walk into the past when the uniforms were bright, the hats were pointy, for some reason the tables were all red, and the menus were full of burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and all the American diner classics you expect. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon when my wife was looking for a pair of shoes at the Citadel Outlet Mall. This place seems to be the biggest restaurant here, while the rest of the food options seem like smaller food court type places. This place had a ton of people working when we were here and hat super quick service, which is always appreciated during a busy time. I was quick to order off the menu when I saw the "Rubyclub" a "hand-carved turkey breast with thick cut bacon, crisp lettuce, mayo, and a deliciously soft ruby roll" (I removed the tomato) and I wasn't disappointed when it was served to me. This Rubyclub was a pretty good size and came with a bunch of think cut french fries that tasted great. The turkey meat itself was very good, the roll was very good, and even though simple, this meal really hit the spot.
Overall, Ruby's Diner is a great place to stop for lunch and a great experience overall. The retro diner style, the kind staff, and the cool decorations hanging around the restaurant really make this place a cool spot.
