Little bit more expensive than it anticipated but food was good. The fresh toast stood out as very tasty. Booths were comfortable and it wasnt busy when we went. Food came out relatively quick. Customer service seemed typical nothing stood out good or bad.

Ruby’s Family Restaurant stands out as the best dining spot in town. The staff provides warm and friendly service, creating a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. Their hot beef dishes are exceptional, and the breakfast menu offers a wide array of delicious options. On your birthday, enjoy a complimentary slice of cake. With a spacious parking lot, finding free parking is always convenient.

Our party of eight went here today for my mom‘s birthday. The service was great, the food was tasty, and we really enjoyed our meal. We hadn’t been here before, but the menu selection was perfect, so we gave it a try. All of our food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. We will definitely be back!

2025 update: We keep going back. The service and food are consistent. I increased the rating to 4 stars +++++ Previous review below +++++ Nice restaurant with a good menu selection. Service was good and the food was good. I would go back.

Please enjoy all 36 of my photos! This is our first time here We only read one review and it looked scrumptious! I immediately ordered the banana & Nutella crepes... Ohh DIVINE! And my husband got the chicken fried steak, I think it's called? I could be wrong... WAIT... It's Country Fried Steak! It comes with 2 eggs and toast as well! I got a root beer.. YUM! NOTE : A $3.95 surcharge is added if you pay with a credit card. So we paid with cash! Will DEF COME BACK!

We got seated fairly fast for being very busy. Service was great, and my food was very good. Will be back for sure.

This was our first time visiting and it was generally very good. Our food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Service started out very good (almost too good, with three different servers assisting our table), but then after our food was delivered we didn't see our server until long after we were finished eating. The French Toast and the Country Fried Steak were stand-out items. The building is a former Perkins, and while generally in good condition, it's a little rough around the edges, including the parking lot which could stand to have some of its potholes filled. Be aware that they charge a 3.28% surcharge for credit card payments. Prices listed on the menu reflect what you'll pay if you're paying in cash. Overall it was good, and we'll go back next time we're in the area.

My experience here was great. The waitress that we had this morning was really nice and friendly and the place looks recently remodeled and the interior looks great it has a warm cozy relaxed type of environment. The food I had was good for a decent price. My mom's review- My veggie omelet was tasty. The coffee was good. Would visit again.

Under different circumstance I might recommend Ruby's, but not today. It was the first time we have been to Ruby's and went for breakfast. They brought out a pot of coffee with two cups on saucers, which is always nice when they leave the pot at your table. The waitress was very kind when she took our orders. She even repeated them back to be sure it was correct, which it was. When the food came it was wrong. The egg white omelette I had ordered with no mushrooms, add bacon had no bacon at all inside. The cheese was hardly melted and instead of the side of hash-browns that was ordered it was served with a side of mixed fruit (that looked rather old). The toast was good, except it barely had any butter. The other meal was over easy eggs with bacon, hash-browns and toast. That toast also had almost zero butter, the eggs were cooked so long they were brown on the bottom side the yolk was cooked and they were even a bit tough to cut considering they are eggs, the bacon that came with that meal was burnt (like blackened burnt). I did remind the waitress that it was supposed to be hash-browns instead of the fruit, which she then took the fruit and came back a short time later with hash-browns. By then my omelette was cold, but I started to eat it. Then I discovered they forgot the bacon in the omelette as well. When I told the waitress she then came back a short time later with two strips of bacon (not blackened like the other meals was) but, after all of that everything was cold. There was no apology or discount offered. The two breakfasts with two coffees came to $39.60. We did also have ice water, which had a bad after taste, maybe it's their tap water? We really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately we won't be going back here. The side of pico de dial seemed fresh and I thought that was pretty good. The coffee wasn't bad either considering they probably use the same tap water. Maybe a different one of their locations would be better? Oh, the ambiance, the booths and chairs look nice, but some of the booth seats (like the one we had) were very high. Our feet were dangling (we are 5'6" and 5'7") and for that reason the table was very low, not leaving much room for your legs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The staff is always friendly and they have a nice selection on there menu. The decor is very nice and welcoming. This is our goto place for breakfast.

Great food. I had the country fried steak. The wait staff is friendly. And our food arrived promptly and was hot and delicious. The ambiance is casual with a touch of halloween decor.

Our first trip to the Chanhassen outlet of the longstanding Shakopee diner was a bit underwhelming. The hamburger was as thin as a quarter and just as dry. The omelet was mediocre. That said, we will give Ruby's another try. Chanhassen needs a diner that can compete with the VFW.

For a family restaurant it's a 5. Huge portions, great food, decent service and a clean restaurant. It's quite obviously a revamped Perkins restaurant but the food is so much better. For the same price! My sister and I really enjoyed our breakfast and although I'm from out of state I'm hoping to eat there again when I visit next month.

Friendly staff. The food seems a bit like Denny's. I got the eggs benedict and the holiday sauce had very little flavor. The venue is very clean and homey.

I'd like to give a couple stars based on what i ordered. I enjoyed my food. However my friend got an entirely different order than what he asked for. When he tried to talk to the server she rolled her eyes at him. I was completely blown away. Never in my life have I seen this happen. She was rude. Maybe alyssa should go into a different career field? Somewhere far from people and customer service. Can't say I'll go back. I absolutely hate giving a bad review but this was over the top.

We had a group of 11 meeting for breakfast. I called, ahead, while on the road, and they had our table ready. Everyone agreed that it was a nice place and that we would do this, again. The food all came out hot and our server was very attentive to our group. Thanks

We've been here a few times for breakfast now, as it's one of our favorites in the Savage/Shakopee area. There is a lot of seating, the dining area is nice and spacious and the wait usually isn't too bad compared to other, smaller places around. There are a lot of great options on the menu and I've tried to change it up with each visit. My faves are definitely the spinach brie frittata and the shredded beef jalapeno omelette, but they're all awesome and y'all should go here if you're craving an amazing breakfast that'll fill you up! And the hashbrowns are the absolute BEST in the south metro area, hands down! The staff can get a bit overwhelmed at times but always come through in the end

We love going to Ruby's. The waitresses are always so nice and the booth seating is really comfortable for a family to sit and chat for a while. Their burger deal is great. Can't go wrong with a beer and a burger. Otherwise we've had a lot of their breakfast and I love the omelettes and skillets. Ruby's is a quality spot with a wide variety of menu options (they have something that'll please everyone!).

We used to be big fans of Ruby's but this weekend the food was mediocre at best and the salsa on the South of the Border omelette was the strangest salsa I've ever seen. It looked like it was made with bad, mushy tomato's and tasted terrible. Our server was apologetic but explained we weren't the first to wonder about it but the chef says it's good. No alternate available. I've ordered this dish for years here but haven't been in for a while. If that's the current chef's position on salsa and customer feedback, we won't be back sadly. I see they opened another one in Belle Plain. Maybe that chef needs to stop by and check in on this one.

The service was relatively quick and the food was hot which was a delight since so many places I order ahead from have it done way before it says the order is done on whatever app you ordered ahead from. When I initially walked in, it kind of smelled like cat pee? Which was very off putting. And lastly, where's the hollandaise?

I had given Rubys a 5 for reviews but today we went back and the food was not good, the orders not right, pancakes were not good mushy tasting I don't know how to explain what had happen, incomplete orders of the food we received missing sour cream and tomatoes were missing, forgot the toast, in other words what we ordered on the menu and we did not get what we ordered had 7 people so big of a mix up. Please fix!

The food was Amazing. I had #4 with 2 eggs, 2 bacon (delicious), and went for the cinnamon roll French Toast instead of pancakes. My partner had Corn Beef Hash, wheat toast and 2 eggs on top. Huge pieces of corn beef mixed with grilled onions, sweet peppers and hash browns filled the plate. We'll be back even a half hour plus travel... it is worth it.

FOOD WAS SO GOOD. Try the banana and Nutella pancakes. Very impressed by this establishment. 10/10. Will be coming back.

Reminded me of an east coast diner in a good way. Not an easy thing to find in MN. Their corned beef hash was excellent. Good service. Will go again.

These omelettes were a little sloppy, but really gooooood! And who doesn't love fresh off the griddle pancakes? The pancakes were my favorite and the steak in the omelette was filling. My hubby enjoyed his veggie omelette and said he really liked the hash browns. They did forget a few ingredients for my omelette, so I had to mention that. We thought we would try this instead of our usual breakfast spot, and it was worth switching it up. They offer a pretty large menu, and I'd like to come back to try dinner sometime.

I have heard good things about Ruby's Family Restaurant, but never got a chance to try the food. I had some time before an appointment so stopped by to get coffee and dessert. The atmosphere was great; I was immediately ushered to a booth, but after waiting almost 15 minutes and not being served I had to leave so I wouldn't be late for an appointment. I am giving two stars because the staff was very apologetic as I left.

Found this restaurant on the way home, what an amazing breakfast! The avocado bacon Benedict was to die for. Coffee was amazing! John gave us great service and handled everything wonderfully! Busy comforting breakfast spot!

The was good as was the service. The side egg portion was very generous and I greatly appreciated that they were not greasy. The crapes were very tasty!!

May not be in a nice location, but the food and service was fenomenal. I was quite shocked to see the inside of the restaurant. Can't way to take the family!

Loved the vibe and the black chairs and booths. This place used to be a Perkins and they did a great job renovating it. Lots of people were there too. Service was great and helpful. I personally love benedicts and was suggested the Pulled Pork Benedict and it was very good. I just might have inhaled it too fast! That's how it goes when you fast all morning and exercise too tho! But it was great and recommend this place!

The breakfast and burgers are great! Food is delicious. Too bad the food I ordered was wrong, then took 20 min to get to me, and after everyone was essentially 3/4 done eating, Finally mine showed up. And when she gave me the correct food, my food had cross contamination with my mushroom allergy that I told her about beforehand when i ordered and I had an allergic reaction. Thanks for not taking my allergy seriously...MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. If you're allergic to anything food wise, don't come here. They won't take it seriously.

breakfast is queen of meals and Ruby's nails it in all categories- flavor, freshness, friendly servers, and quick service. Sweet, Basic, & Healthy (unique) options available. if you're adventurous try the apple sweet potato skillet 10/10. lovely restaurant!

i was there with a friend and the lady we had profiled us she was rude to the food was good it was just the fact that she thought we were gonna eat and then not pay even though we had never done that in our life that is why you can't be a black teen in this society eating at these restaurant. this was yesterday and I was so disappointed I was going to get a manger involved but it wasn't worth it to me it's a shame that we still have p like this in the world.

The food was fantastic. There some gluten free options too . The service was fantastic. The ambiance was full positive energy and nice people.

I want to like this place, I really do! We tried it a couple years ago by every time we went out food always came out wrong. Decided to give it another go recently. The food is decent but heck if they still can't get an order right! Twice this week we ordered breakfast from there. Choc Chip Pancakes, chicken fried steak with extra crispy hanshbrowns. Received: Regular Pancakes and hash"whites" they weren't even close to regularly cooked let alone extra crispy. But ya know he we thought maybe they were extra busy no biggie. Today we ordered Choc Chip Pancakes, BYO Omelet (Sausage, mushroom, extra cheese) requested American cheese. Bread choice was English Muffin and again asked for extra crispy hashbrowns. Received: Choc Chip pancakes, great! Omelet had only sausage inside, no mushrooms or cheese. I paid $1.00 extra for extra cheese which I assume was the slice of American cheese thrown on top on the omelet. No english muffin. Hashbrowns were not extra crispy but were at least cooked this time.

This place was an amazing find! We were looking for a decent breakfast spot & took a chance on this restaurant. It didn't look like much from the outside but is completely remodeled Perkins. It appears to be family owned & staffed. The breakfast was out of this world with fresh ingredients & huge portions. Our server was sharp, friendly & attentive. Highly recommend this spot!

First time at ruby's even though we've been past it for a couple of years. Service was a little slow right after being seated, but the rest made up for that. Tuna melt and Reuben for my wife and I, and the sandwiches were delicious. Bread grilled perfectly( not TOO buttery). Fillings were hot as they should be. Fries were hot and crisp, and done right. Only complaint was that there were probably too many fries for us (watch your portions, guys). Really glad we finally stopped. Breakfast next time.

Usually really good. Breakfasts. I recently ordered the biscuits and gravy with two scrambled eggs and hash browns.. The meal came to me with the scrambled eggs on top of the biscuits and sausage gravy, covering the eggs and the biscuits. Although it was edible and cooked well, this is NOT how sausage biscuits and gravy with eggs are served. -Any self-respecting southerner will tell you that! The biscuits should be covered with the sausage gravy and the eggs should be served by themselves. Other than that, service was very good, and the restaurant is very clean.

Ruby's has great food and great service! Reasonably priced food, we will be going back!

All meat cut in-house. In judging food I find a dish offered I'm familiar with and try the local version. Today's was Corned Beef Hash and Ruby's did not disappoint. Great find on the Yelp app.

I've only ordered two menu items at Ruby's: South of the border omelet and the cobb salad. Both are tasty and I been the same quality every time I order it. Rose and the staff are very nice and hope this place does well.

You can tell this restaurant is just an old Perkins but the food is anything but!!!! I ordered the Apple skillet and it was F@&)ing fantastic! It came out hot and perfectly cooked!! The food is miles better then it appears from the outside!!! I plan on returning in the future!

It was my first time visiting Shakopee and had no idea what to expect when stumbling across the restaurant when looking for a late breakfast on a miserable, Minnesota spring Monday. Everything started out well as I was welcomed by our server, Rose. By the way, she stayed close by throughout breakfast amking us feel like one of the "regulars" who came and went throughout the meal. I selected the "create your own" omelet and it arrived quickly (see photo) along with a toasted English muffin. It was hot and included fresh ingredients. The cold English muffin was the only downside of the experience. Reasonable pricing, friendly and attentive service, good sized portions and a clean environment all added up to a 4-Star visit to Ruby's. As a newcomer to the town I will likely check out other places but I think other Yelpers can rely on Ruby's when in Shakopee.

Great breakfast spot! In town for a family wedding and Ruby's was close to the hotel. Much is talked about with preparing the latest trends in restaurants but the simplest dishes are really the hardest to consistently execute. Perfect hash browns. Crispy on the outside, hot and fluffy on the inside. Perfectly seasoned sausage gravy on the biscuits and gravy. Friendly, quick service. Just excellent.

Came in for steak and eggs. Over easy and medium on the steak..came out with scrambled and burnt english muffins. I had it returned and said "try again" they just scraped the eggs off and put on over easy..then since the steak and hash browns were cold, they just put the whole plate in the oven. Then decided to try to pass that off. Plate now scorching hot and steak way over cooked! Since they reheated the whole plate! I complained. The chef came out to discuss with me. I said cook a whole new plate and try again fir the 3rd time! I received a new plate after and hour. Ate what they gave and left, i was starving! Plus as i waited i noticed a bunch of ants, on my table and walls! Gross! Then they had the balls to hover over me during the bill to make sure they get a tip, yea right! And they charge you if you use a credit card! NEVER GOING BACK!!

This is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal. A few meals that aren't your "run of the mill," type, so I was pleasantly surprised when we started going. We now go regularly and have gathered many of our Friendship church buddies..........and off we go to Ruby's! You HAVE to try their "Apple Skillet," sounds maybe not so good, but oh my goodness, IT IS SUPER!!! Have fun at Ruby's and the staff is great! The young gentleman in the picture is on staff (in the picture I took) and couldn't ask for nicer, except our "favorite waitress," ha! Enjoy!!!

Awesome food. Had the southwestern skillet and a short stack of pancakes. Both were excellent and huge portions. Definitely coming back here.

came in for a hot roast beef sandwich. it was one piece of burnt bread, not even a half a cup of mashed potatoes. and the roast beef was hard, no flavor and not filling at all. sad that when you leave a restaurant you are still hungry. we were ignored when we walked in and stood there for 10 minutes waiting to be seated. then from sitting to food it was 20 minutes. we were about ready to walk out. do not recommend at all.

Asked for a fruit cup rite away and waited about 15 minutes after we got our drinks til we got the fruit cup. Was charged for Soup $4.00 when it says "Soup or Salad" is included with my $14 8oz Steak Dinner. My other family member got their soup 10 minutes before I got mine. I watched the other table who ordered after us, get served his plate of food and finish it in front of his "spouse" before she ever got her food served to her. My Steak looked like an over cooked rolled up sausage the most disgusting thing I ever saw, I had to use Ketchup just to eat it. I was served a plain baked potato which is fine, a little surprised the server didn't ask me if I wanted anything on my baked potato when I ordered. She also never asked me how I wanted my steak done and had to come back and ask. I watched the server also go back and ask another customer how they wanted their eggs after taking their order as well. The couple across from us looked just as disappointed as myself. I took a bite of the kids burger my child ordered and it was rubbery and she only ate the fries. A McDonald's Burger is better than this place. I don't know how this place gets any good reviews. I tipped $10 because I'm never coming back.

This place does not offer takeout despite taking orders for it. Thanks for wasting an hour and a half of my life.
