Ruby’s Rye, NY Great place to eat. We had 6 of us. Grandparents, parents, and kids. We all enjoyed tasting some various appetizers. Everyone had a different main and loved them. The tuna tartare appetizer was fabulous. Had had a wide variety of appetizers. It is awesome. The Brussels sprouts were great, someone loved the fried oysters. The seafood as great. I loved the Bronzino special with risotto. Someone loved the lobster 🦞 gnocchi, and someone loved the bouillabaisse with shrimp 🍤, mussels, clams, and fish 🎣. The standard dirty martini 🍸 with Tito’s was also awesome. Great place to take the family. Easy date night with room at the bar. We had reservations which is recommended for parties over 2-3 because very popular and popping.

Such a cute little place! Just stumbled upon it and so glad we did. The fish was cooked to perfection, the oysters delicious and the sticky toffee pudding, YUM. We ordered a dozen oysters to start and our lovely server suggested 2 of each. That was perfect as we were able to try side by side and pick which was our favorite. The whole vibe was lovely there.

This place is normally fine, not exceptional, but decent. However, their hours should be updated on Google. We walked in at 9:15pm on a Saturday night and asked for a table for 2. We were told the kitchen was closed. Their hours are listed as closing at 10:00pm, so forgive us for thinking that’s when they *actually* close! Most restaurants understand that if you walk in at 9:15, you’ll be done by 10:15 and be on your way. It’s just shocking that a restaurant in a fancy suburb of New York would turn away two regulars at 9:15pm on a Saturday night! God forbid the waiters make more tips! What happened to getting a late dinner after a movie? These post-COVID hours are insane. Bring back real restaurants that are open until 11:00pm on weekends!

I usually love this place- but we had the absolute worst service here the other day which completely ruined the experience. We sat with our empty drink glasses waiting for our entrees- waiter who sat us and took our order was nowhere to be found. We watched as a table that sat way after us got their order. Someone who wasn't our waiter finally came over to ask if we were waiting for something- yes, the food that we ordered 45 minutes ago. Waited some more for over cooked fries and dishes that weren't hot. They offered up one complimentary drink but no explanation or real apology- I could see our waiter take on a new table but he never came over to us again to ask if we needed anything which just made the whole thing uncomfortable considering the restaurant was nearly empty. Then they gave us the bill which had every item charged twice. I really don't ask for much, but it was just ridiculous and embarrassing for everyone involved.

Google
Went for brunch on Saturday. Ordered oysters which were so fresh and delicious! Eggs benedict with smoked salmon was just perfect to start the weekend. Bloody mary and mimosa were also good and refreshing. Great service and atmosphere. I will definitely come back here again. Thank you.

Went here for my 2 year anniversary with my finance. The food was good, definitely the best part of our night. However the service was atrocious. Our server, Teresa, was inattentive and crass. At first we simply gave her the benefit of the doubt that she must've busy, so we ignored it. However as the night progressed, she began to try rush us out. It wasn’t even 9pm before our desserts were dropped and she dropped the check at the same time. My fiancé left to go to the bathroom right before our dessert came, and Teresa literally came over twice before my fiancé even came back to her seat, to try to grab the check. Within 12 minutes, she asked to take the check 5 times. After her fifth attempt, we asked for the manager to come over. And immediately after it, she asked if she could at least “take it first”. After calling the manager on the phone, she went over to what I believe was their server station near the bar, and was very clearly talking about us. She went as far to even point at us from across the room. At this point, I debated even leaving her a tip. But as both of us work in the same industry, we decided to still leave one. When we brought up everything to the manager when he stopped by, he was also dismissive and barely gave an apology. We weren’t expecting much. We didn’t want him or her to beg or do anything dramatic to make up for it. Neither were we asking for any kind of compensation or for them to comp/void any part of our bill. At that point we only wanted it brought to their attention. But instead we got a “Well, I’m sorry to hear that.”- as he walked away. He even tried to cut me off multiple times while I was explaining what happened. I’m not quite sure why they both acted they way they did, maybe they were having a bad night. But it was no excuse for them to ruin what should’ve been a special night for us. I used to love coming here, but that was a time before Covid. And this terrible experience was definitely one to remember.

Google
The nice thing about this place is that they can really open up the windows towards the front which allows for a nice breeze to come through. The atmosphere is great. Service was very nice from the wait staff to the manager. Food is good although I bit expensive but then what isn't these days. It certainly a good spot when in rye.

Google
Not good overpriced service not up to what they charge food is nothing special . it's more of a bar trying to pretend it's an upscale restaurant when it's not. Good for drinks don't expect to get the greatest of food here you won't .

Yelp
I was gifted gift cards to this restaurant and it was delicious. The restaurant was pretty busy so you definitely want to make a reservation. We made a reservation and we were seated in the back room which was a little loud because the back room is a little bit smaller, but it was OK. The service was really quick and the food was delicious and cooked exactly how we wanted it. We ordered filet mignon with french fries and then also one of the filet mignon specials. We also got a dozen oysters, peppers and crabcakes. The crabcakes were absolutely delicious. I would 100% recommend getting those.

Yelp
I received a gift card to this restaurant and decided to give it a try! The interior is so cute it feels as if you are in a French bistro! Very clean and spacious. They also have an upstairs area that is quiet and more intimate. Service was a little bit slow, however our server was very kind which made up for it. The food was great!! The oysters were delicious and I highly recommend the shishito peppers! I enjoyed the steak frites, and they cooked my steak perfectly! We all had a very delightful dinner and would come back!!!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service. I went with my boyfriend on a Friday night before Christmas and it was all decorated for the holidays - so cute! Mike paid special attention to us during our reservation and we couldn't have been happier! Food came out super fast too.

Yelp
My husband said it best - "I never want to be within 100 miles of Ruby's and NOT get to eat there!" This was his 2nd trip and probably 5th or 6th for me. They have a great cocktail menu and we got the ball rolling with some lovely libations. We love oysters, and Ruby's does not disappoint. We got 2 of each of the day's selections, in order to narrow down our favorites and take a deeper dive into a couple with a second dozen. I have developed a go-to order here, though I flirt with the idea of the fresh specials, it's almost always shishito peppers and steak frites (hanger steak) for me. Hubby enjoyed an order of escargot in addition to his steak frites. Brought back a care package of steak as we were full... alas, no room for dessert. We love the ambiance, it reminds us of our time living in Belgium and frequenting the brasseries there. Side note: I left my credit card and did not realize it. Before I ever noticed, the restaurant contacted me. Unfortunately we had already entered the Capitol Theater for a show and could not leave to retrieve, and were returning to PA after the concert. The manager graciously offered to mail my card, and it arrived expeditiously in our mailbox. Great service!

Yelp
Upscale French restaurant pricing, mediocre food at best. The pumpkin soup was probably our favorite part of the meal, but the French dip was simply atrocious. Came with pommes frites which were delicious, however a bite into the French dip and it was raw meat and fat inside. Couldn't chew through it, couldn't even cut through with a knife, had to ask for a replacement, which they did. However, upon returning my plate, my once crisp, dark, tasty pommes frites were now soggy, lighter fries. Ambiance was nice, staff friendly, so no complaints there.

Yelp
Met my friends here for lunch. What a cute little bistro middle of town in Rye. You think your on the water when your inside. Greeted by Joe the waiter very warmly and he knows the menu inside and out Started with lobster wontons. Omg so crunchy outside with warm tender lobster with a creamy creme fraiche My Buddy had dozen assorted oysters which he said were wonderful all had different flavors. I had a warm lobster roll with fries. Lobster was cooked perfect and so tender. But lacked in flavor was very bland but u can tell great ingredients. Fries where great but seemed to be small parts of the bottom of the batch. . Wife had a blackened grouper sandwich. Fresh fish but not much flavor and wasn't blackened. Same with the fries Friend had Cobb salad with shrimp. She loves it shrimp so huge and tender Parking is tough but available . Def a place want to come back to really cute inside and good quality food.

Yelp
I'm a new fan. Went here last night for dinner. Appreciated the ambiance and overall aesthetic of the place. Enjoyed the appetizers and the steak frites. A lot on the menu to choose. Looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Very average food. I had fried oysters, they lacked flavor and seasoning. Average at best. And it is not inexpensive.

Chantille H.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Had the mussels and tuna tartar. Found a hair in my food actually but didn't say anything bc I didn't notice till the plate was almost done. Service was pretty good and sitting outside on a summer evening with a friend was pleasant.

Yelp
Came here with a couple of friends last week and had an enjoyable experience. We sat in the upstairs room which was cozy and had an excellent waiter who was extremely friendly! For food we started with a couple of appetizers to share- Seafood Tower, peppers, calamari and escargot. I liked how they were able to give us both west coast and east coast oysters with the tower, the seafood was very fresh and the chilled lobster was great! The escargot was okay and the peppers were phenomenal! Didn't try the calamari but my husband seemed to enjoy it! For dinner I ordered the blackened swordfish with mushroom risotto- the risotto was absolutely delicious but found the swordfish to be a little dry for my liking but overall it was still a decent dish. My husband ordered the steak and could not stop talking about how amazing it was. In general it was a good experience and we would be happy to return!

Yelp
Parking is attainable you might have to pay me here but about a dollar which is not terrible place is very cute. The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing centrally located in a great place to just have a nice conversation decency food.

Maureen T.

Yelp
Been my go to restaurant for years. Lately -just not good. Service surly to say the least and the food has been average at best. Just left there after leaving most of my food untouched. The waitress never asked if we enjoyed dinner, just handed us the check. Writing this from a pizzeria where we finally ate decent food. I may not go back which saddens me but it isn't cheap and to leave hungry from unseasoned food is unacceptable to me.

Yelp
Outstanding brunch. Great service, nice selection of brunch entrees. Will return to sample other meals, and the raw bar.

Marcus H.

Yelp
A favorite scores highly once again. We went in for a quick drink yesterday, and Scott the bartender once again was exceptional. The drinks were well poured, he was engaging and funny, and the fried oyster appetizer we had was excellent. We have yet to have a bad meal or experience here.

Donald W.

Yelp
Had a really nice dinner recently at Ruby's. A fairly busy neighborhood "gem." We had a reservation (a Saturday night), but were running late (lots of people waiting for tables). They were able to accommodate us with no drama which was much appreciated. The menu was bistro-style (duh!), and the food was excellent. No problems with substitutions and the food came exactly as ordered. Our waiter was fun and helpful. We didn't want dessert, but indulged anyway. The toffee bread pudding was amazing and the cheesecake was excellent as well. Be sure to make a reservation!

Yelp
Always a great choice in Rye, NY! I've been here quite a few times and it's consistently good. Their food is fresh, seasonal, and delicious. My boyfriend is obsessed with their seared tuna blt! I've enjoyed everything I've ordered here and they have some of the best oyster. Only thing I could say is that I need to add extra watermelon in my watermelon salad in the summer, but it's one of my favorite things to order!

Yelp
Went with some friends. We dined outdoors, because it was a beautiful night! Service was excellent! Food came out very quickly. We had a double tier, filled with lots of goodies!! Lobster, seafood salad, clams, oysters and shrimp!! We then ordered a dozen of oysters, general Tso's cauliflower, mussels with fries, and a salad w mozzarella! Everything was really great!

Yelp
A group of us came to Ruby's on a weekend evening as the COVID pandemic appears to be winding down. There were tables out on the sidewalk as well as (distanced) tables indoors. We elected to eat inside because there were plenty of open windows and doors, and the indoor ventilation system was in high gear. What I liked about Ruby's was it's great energy. All the diners seemed to be having a wonderful time. I liked watching the staff, who struck me as seasoned and competent; as far a I could tell, they had each seen everything and enjoyed working together as a team. I started with a glass of excellent IPA from Chatham Brewing while looking over the menu. The appetizer/salad list included two Asian-influenced items: General Tso's cauliflower ("Spicy Sweet Chile Sauce, Red Peppers, Scallions, Sesame Seeds") and a salad called Thai Peanut Noodles ("Shredded Vegetables, Pecans, Peanut Dressing, Pea Shoots, Dragon Aioli"). I went with the cauliflower. This appetizer would have been a good thing to share with a large group, but I ate the whole thing myself and ended up feeling grossed out by the overly sweet chile sauce. I segued to one of the specials -- an fettuccine dish made with fresh egg pasta, some sad-looking shrimp, artichoke pieces and a bunch of other stuff. Its description looked promising on the menu, but I thought that the dish didn't come together very well and I stopped eating with half of it still on my plate. (This was an extreme event because normally I scarf down everything in front of me.) Ruby's really could have been better. I settled on three stars because of its great atmosphere and the wonderful beer. If I return, I'll seek out the menu's simpler items, perhaps from the "lighter fare" section.

Yelp
Mediocre food, great oysters. The children's menu brings in lots of families with kids.

Yelp
My first visit back to this spot post Covid vaccination. One of my favorites when I first moved to Greenwich. I'm happy to report it is just as fantastic today, if not better then before. Today I chose the seating on the patio out back, because it was a sunny warm day. It has plenty of greenery to create a separate space from the parking and neighboring business areas. My server was attentive, friendly and always available. I started with the Jumbo Chicken Wings Confit and a Tito's and soda with lime. (I was after all celebrating my vaccination) The wings are amazing and literally fall off the bone and the buffalo flavor is spot on, not too spicy, not too mild, just perfect. I went with the chilled lobster roll for lunch, they offer either chilled or warm versions. What I really appreciated about the lobster roll was its cucumber slice along the bottom of the brioche bun. Unexpected, but adds a surprisingly nice complement to the sandwich. The portion was generous, and the lemon aioli on the side was a perfect addition. I actually used it to for my old bay pom frites, instead of ketchup, highly recommend you try it. Also the cleaning procedures I witnessed while I was there were impressive. After every table left, they thoroughly disinfected the table and even if it was only two people at a five person table, they immediately used disinfectant on every chair and replacement them before the next seating. I was super impressed. I'm looking forward to being a regular guest here again. Also, if you do choose to dine indoors, it's equally as fun. The aesthetic is super fun, the zebra wallpaper is great!

Yelp
We had a phenomenal experience eating here last night. Almost didn't go because of the overall rating and that would have been a mistake. Among the best oysters we have had in westchester. My tuna tartare was excellent. We all shared the brussel sprout chips (it's crispy brussel sprouts and definitely a fan favorite). Our son devoured them! And they are very kid friendly and accommodated what he wanted to eat (butter noodles). Will be in our rotation for sure!

Yelp
The Sound Shore city of Rye has its share of great dinning, Ruby's is one of them. After multiple visits it's evident the foods consistency and quality is always 100%. From the Seafood to the French Dip from the House Burger to the Apps. The place gets packed but personally the outside front tables and rear patio seating on a nice day is enjoyable. Watching the hustle & bustle of Purchase St. out front really is a great evening with great food & drinks.

Bren Ann C.

Yelp
Matt makes a mean margarita!! Relaxed atmosphere. Menu has a variety ; raw bar , seafood Interesting entrees Great staff Ruby's is Worth a visit

Rick V.

Yelp
Solid choice in Rye. Vibrant lunch scene this past Saturday. I had a Cobb salad that was mediocre, but the overall experience was good.

Paula A.

Yelp
I was very much disappointed with the food as it was substandard. We ordered a dozen oysters and these were not fresh and weren't clean properly. My palate was hurt by the shells left on them. A very unpleasant experience. I ordered a scallop appetizer and it was impossible to remove it from the shell. I am convinced this was from frozen. A rip off for $16. The noodles salad came with no vegetables as stated on the menu and the shrimp added were dried and not fresh. There was also a seafood pasta dish ordered that was very mediocre. The only good thing were the fries. When the check arrived the oysters were included despite complaining about it and not eating them. I had to request to speak to the manager to remove them from the check. I left the restaurant tasting the awful oysters and sad that a beautiful place like this cannot serve fresh food and make a bigger effort to their local clientele.

Yelp
Went there on Friday night. Service was exceptional, very attentive, nice and friendly. They had a good drinks menu with nice wine and beer selections as well as cocktails. Food choices were nice as well, including nice sea food options and non sea food. We had sashimi, shrimp and guacamole for the appetizer and I had scallops for dinner. Everything was great. For dessert we had chocolate cake which was probably one of the best cakes of 2021.
google avatar

Angie A.

Yelp
great spot for a simple delicious meal! the raw oysters are delicious! ive also had the pear salad and steak frites, my kids really enjoy the food too.
google avatar

Conor O.

Yelp
Went here with some friends and wasn't impressed much Food was good but average and service could be better. French onion soup was good but not hot when it came out. Drinks took to long to get.
google avatar

Karolina E.

Yelp
Good restaurant, good service, good food. Of all the dishes, I liked the mussels in white wine best, probably because of them I will go back. The rest of the dishes were just good.
google avatar

Claudia S.

Yelp
There are many restaurants options in Rye and most of them are good but Ruby's had been consistent with their good service and delicious food. I had been very impressed with their dedication to keep the restaurant open because They had endured many hardships including the pandemic and the flood last year.
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
What can I say about Ruby's. If you're in Rye and want to have an excellent casual meal or drink at the bar, this is my # 1 venue. Great choice of foods and drinks, and first class service, all set in a background of French ambiance. Highly recommended.

Leo L.

Yelp
For 15 years never fails to serve great food with exceptional service . They always change up the menu and the staff remembers you .
google avatar

Mercedes C.

Yelp
[Delayed Review] I'd just come back from summer vacation and still, had seafood on my mind. Menu seems nice. Though Ruby's swanky style, is more impressive. Almost stepping through time with touches of Paris: yellow walls, vintage French posters and red seating. With a large bar, exposed brick walls, lots of warm lighting and chandeliers- setting the mood for a romantic evening. It visually, hit the spot. With reservations, seating was smooth- but I'd imagine, it easily books up. Dozen raw oysters, were a good starter as were the Escargots and Cocktails that were mixed, quite well. My Lemon Sole entree was substantial, but in hindsight, it really didn't hit all those high notes for me: fish was tasteless. Béchamel tasted good- but was globbed on and somehow, just expected my dish to have more finesse. Apart from that presentation, my Chocolate Molten Cake, came out on top. Atmosphere is happy, with soft music in the background and nice service throughout the evening. We did dinner, nonetheless, you can get by with Ruby's sophisticated setting- for almost any time of the day with positive energy and that cute touch of French flair.

mary r.

Yelp
Service was attentive - five stars . I ordered a Thai chicken noodle salad which was bland and the chicken was dry and tasted frozen. Very overpriced. I loved the ambience as well.
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
Pretty great food, service, and experience. My wife loves the oysters / I'm a fan of the chicken.
google avatar

Will R.

Yelp
Had a surprise birthday there last night. Invited about 12 people and they set us up at a very nice table. Can't say enough about the staff, all of whom were extremely accommodating and professional. We started off with a selection of delicious and properly shucked east and west coast oysters and fresh shrimp cocktail with good garnish. I had a hearty and generous Cioppino which I hadn't seen on a menu in a long time--a brilliant addition to any seafood restaurant's winter menu. Thanks again Team Ruby's for a great evening / event.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Came here and ordered the burger and the mahi mahi tacos. Our drink order was served wrong and the burger was served well done instead of medium rare. Service and vibes were good, but food was meh.

Michele M.

Yelp
Great food Good service But never ever in over 20 years of patronage have they bought back a drink Take your hard earned $$ to a place that appreciates you Alba Sergio's Trattoria 632
google avatar

Dino D.

Yelp
The place has a great atmosphere. It is as French as French gets without the food. The place has a bit of an identity crisis, as they call the Boullaibaisse, "Seafood Cioppino". The Branzino is misspelled on the menu. They call it Bronzino. (Which is Italian) The service is simply atrocious! We asked for bread. It arrived after the meal and it was cold. We had to ask for cutlery. The waitress came to get the order and by the time my wife started speaking, she disappeared. The worst was my Hanger Steak. It came with a salad in the plate covered in blue cheese. It looked like a gyro vs. steak frites. My steak was cut up in pieces (rather than whole) and covered in peppercorn sauce mixed with blue cheese and dressing from the salad. My salad got hot from the steak. I honestly have had better steak at the local dinner. This "gyro" cost me $36 bucks and ain't worth its' salt! The waitress asked if anything was wrong and when we decided to keep quiet, she said to my wife: "are you crazy?" My wife loved her "Cioppini."

Mark R.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in Rye , NY on our trip back from FL, We were greeted by Mike at the door and he made us feel welcomed and special. The food was excellent and the ambiance was inviting. Service also was impeccable. We definitely would stop again if we are traveling thru. Thanks for your hospitality!!

Sarah S.

Yelp
I think it was closed for a lot of the pandemic but we just returned and it was fantastic! We had our rehearsal dinner here 8 years ago and it was wonderful. The private room in the back is cozy and the menu was comprehensive. The energy, the vibe, the servers and especially the food are even better now. It was so fresh, so well made, it was wonderful. The flavors were excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant. They also have a nice outdoor set up in the back when the warm weather returns.

Jude B.

Yelp
The food was very ordinary. We ordered an omelette, Brussel sprout chips and Tune poke. I asked for a slightly undercooked omelette which arrived overcooked, the french fries and the Brussel sprout chips were cold. We kept the chips but returned the fries, which were begrudgingly replaced. The service was awful, they do not cater to special diets (i.e. gluten free). The most extraordinary thing about our experience was that not one of the staff was wearing a mask. This is in direct contravention to the CDC recommendation (7/30/21) that people mask indoors and in high-risk situations in the following counties: Westchester, NYC, Nassau and Suffolk, Orange, Greene, Saratoga and Warren.

Pamela S.

Yelp
The food was awful Had the hanger steak which was extremely tough. It was served with a pile of limp, tepid french fries. The dessert--warm chocolate cake--was boring. It was served with ice cream of which there was very little. When someone at our table asked for bread, it never came. The request had to be repeated twice after that before it arrived. One of our party asked for spinach and got asparagus and had to send his plate back for the correct vegetable. The noise factor was overwhelming. First, there was a group of rowdy young women at the bar who drowned out everyone else in the restaurant. That was augmented by a table of young people in the rear who greeted half a dozen friends who stood around their table and shouted at each other. One could not hear one's own dinner companions.

J P.

Yelp
Dining in the Upstairs attic room above the kitchen is a horrible dining experience. Even the quality staff hates the assignment. Hot as blazes, no ac, no atmosphere and food arrived cold. 1 hr dining prison sentence. Too late to cancel the resy as the hostess is walking your party past the bustling main room. Overall ruby's is so good, but this room is a major disappointment. Mgt needs to kill this attic room, alert diners at reservation time or call it the ruby's annex and charge 50% less.
google avatar

Ricelly V.

Yelp
What an embarrassment!!! The place in Rye, We had reservations for a table for 4 outside and waited 40 mins and were told the next table was ours by the host. We were about to sit down when the Manager Erin ( female heavy set frame) came screaming " NO NO NO" everyone looked at us and was very loud. Everyone stopped their dinner to look at us while the manager caused the scene. Please note that we four professional adults, also Rye brook residents minorities and they wanted to seat a caucasian couple who we saw walk over 5 mins prior the incident. This place is a "NO NO NO" until they change their manager. The 1 star is because I can not remove the final star.

Shaken Not Stirre D.

Yelp
I am really trying to give Ruby's the benefit of the doubt considering how hard hit the restaurant industry finds itself these days but I find it impossible. Consider.,. 1) 20 minute wait for cocktails. 2) ONE HOUR wait for FOOD of any kind. No exaggeration. 3) Disappearance of our server. 4) Incomplete food order. 5) ZERO apology from owner or manager for the missteps. It is clear that they DO NOT CARE about you and but indeed take your money. 6) A disgusting men's room. Trash and wet paper strewn EVERYWHERE. 7) Lastly...food was served at every table including ours with bare hands by all involved. Serious safety risk issue....there is a pandemic after all. There you have it. I am trying to help you make a decision here. Good luck.

Yelp
I came here for brunch and was very happy with the service and food. Every single employee that interacted with us was nice and masked. The oysters came out quickly and were fresh; the French onion soup was good; but my favorite was the lobster eggs Benedict. It had been a while since I had any sort of eggs Benedict so I was very excited and this did not disappoint.
google avatar

Liz G.

Yelp
Not quite the Brunch spot I expected. Service, setting were good. French toast ordinary with a sprinkling of berries. Two pancake portion for a teen rather lean. Eggs Benedict seemed ok with uncuttable English muffins and with fries and ketchup on the same plate. Will visit again for dinner hoping for Ruby to find her stride.
