Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels

At first I thought it was just hype, but now I get it. For a very reasonable 4 Euro (other tourist traps are waaaay more expensive), you get THE BEST stroopwafels money can buy. Note that it’s not always open and apparently they sell out pretty fast - but if you get the opportunity, come here! I got the chocolate stroopwafel which was heavenly. The original side was crispy and had hot caramel, and the texture was perfect - light, crunchy but still had a good bite. The chocolate side was great too, it added another dimension of flavour - almost making it seem like the original was missing something (however the original is already perfect, if that makes sense). The service was excellent too, the staff were friendly and seemed like they’re having a good time.

Before the trip, this place was already bookmarked on my list📍But when I walked into this street, I didn’t really check the map, and I ended up going to another shop instead 😅 I thought the scoop waffle there was already pretty good 🧇 Then, after walking a bit further, I suddenly saw Rudi’s signboard 🤯 That’s when I realised I’d gone to the wrong place earlier. I immediately bought another one to try, and both my partner and I were amazed 😍 Rudi’s scoop waffle is really special; its aroma and richness are on a completely different level from the previous shop ✨ It’s not that the first one wasn’t good, but Rudi’s was just another step above 🚀 Since we ate from two shops back‑to‑back, the contrast was very strong, and it tasted unbelievably good! 🤤💯

Rudi's was my first experience with fresh stroopwafels and they were delicious! The waffle was thin and crispy and the filling was not overly sweet. I prefered the version without chocolate. I visited the Albert Cuyp Market on a Friday around 11 AM and there was a line for Rudi's but it moved very quickly. Note that the line is mostly uncovered so you'll be exposed to the elements. You can also buy a package of 10 stroopwafels, which makes great gifts. Just make sure if you choose to buy the metal tin for the stroopwafels, you grab a package of stroopwafels as well (otherwise you will have just paid for an empty metal tin).

We went here because it’s viral on instagram and it did not dissappoint. The stroopwaffel was delicious at its right crunchiness, tasty, soft and very enjoyable. Guy serving them was a very cheerful and great host makes the wait go a little quicker. Cheap, cheerful and amazing quality Stroopwaffel!! Definitely recommend!!!

Delicious! Generous amount of caramel & surprisingly not too sweet- however, it's nothing actually particularly special compared to others in the city, so in my opinion it's not worth waiting in the very long line. You can get equally great, freshly made stroopwafels elsewhere without the hassle. Service is very friendly however :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! it's another mandatory foods in Amsterdam (trust me it is worth it and it's not a tourist trap!) the original stroopwafel that taste warm, sweet and perfectly crisp <3 it is so much better compared to other with fancy toppings cause nothing will beats the original rightt!! and because it is serves supeeeer fresh & warm yummm also they are very generous with the sauce & chocolate and the portion is also big for 3 euros & 4 euros (with chocolate) the service are also very welcomiiinggg soo nice <3 +++ are located in a perfect market to visit ❤️

We walked around a bit, then decided one tin just wasn’t enough (lol), so we went back for another fresh original and another tin to bring home. By then, the line was long, but it moved super fast. I wouldn’t say the fresh ones are necessarily better than the pre-made ones—they’re just different. The fresh ones are warm and crispy, while the pre-made ones are cold and crispy, each with its own charm. With a nice cup of coffee or tea, both are absolutely delicious. All in all, I loved the whole experience and will definitely be back next time I’m in Amsterdam. The price of €3 is very reasonable too! Note to the neighboring vendors: one of you should seriously consider selling good tea, coffee, or hot chocolate to go with Rudy’s stroopwafels instead of those ubiquitous t-shirts! One of the best stroopwafels I've had during my trip in Amsterdam. This one was not too sweet and also very affordable compared to some other spots in Amsterdam. Be sure to check their hours online because they are closed a few days out of the week!! I made the mistake of visiting on a Thursday and they were closed and came back around the next day and fortunately they were opened. It's a stall within the Albert Cuyp Markt so you can also check out other stalls while you're there. They have a line but it goes quick. They also have pre-packaged stroopwafels in case you'd like to bring some back as souvenirs. Staff are super kind and if you order one, they'll make you one in the spot! Try a fresh one - you won't regret it! :)

Such a fun stop at Albert Cuyp Markt! Loved watching them roll the dough, press it, and drizzle in the syrupy filling. They offer original and chocolate. Since it was my first fresh Stroopwafel, I went classic -- and it was absolute perfection. Hot, gooey, flavorful, with just the right crisp. The staff were super friendly too, chatting with everyone and making the experience even better.

It was so hard to find a place in Amsterdam that had plain, fresh stroopwafels, and not the ones with all the sprinkles and "aesthetic" toppings. Rudi's is located in Albert Cuyp Market so the hours are more limited, but it's worth planning your day around if you want a fresh stroopwafel from Rudi's. The price of one (3 euros, without the chocolate dip) is definitely on the pricier end, but the stroopwafels are the larger size and you can't beat a freshly made one. The 3 employees there worked quickly and the whole operation seemed quite efficient. Overall, fantastic tasting cookie, just be careful of the caramel it might drip since it's still warm

Can't go to Amsterdam without getting a stroopwafel! For the price of 3 euros, you can a grab a freshly made one here (4 euros if you want it dipped in chocolate). There's typically a line but moves fast! Stroopwafel was warm and delicious! You can also opt to purchase premade ones in a bag or cute tin box!

I love me some stroopwafels, but literally the only stroopwafels I keep eating in Amsterdam are the ones from Albert Hejin. I made it a point to actually try a real stroopwafel spot, so I came to Rudi's Original Stroopwafels. This is located in Albert Cuyp Market. Got one Chocolate Stroopwafel with Excellent Chocolate Topping. So soft and oh so sweet! Definitely better than the stroopwafels you'll find at a supermarket. And in case you are wondering what makes their chocolate topping "excellent," it's because it's "made with love!"

What a yummy treat at the Cuypmarket. Advertised as Rudi's Original Stroopwaffel. But I have nothing to compare it to, as I had never had it before. But I think I have seen it before. It's a tasty (mostly fattening) dessert or snack. Probably pretty yummy with coffee or hot tea. Enjoyable I guess anytime of day. According to the internet: Stroopwafel is a delicious Dutch cookie that looks like a small waffle. Each is filled with a spiced buttery caramel syrup. The Dutch word for this is stroop. Hence, the name of this cookie means syrup waffle. The line was long, but it moved quickly. Comes out hot fresh off the griddle, but cools off pretty quickly. This little stall has quite the following, drawing a crowd, and entertaining guests with bositerious personality from the hosts as everyone waited in line. Solid choice if in the area.

worth the hype and worth the wait in line. i got there more or less when they opened and probably took 10 mins to get mine. as they advise, there's really no difference in what you pick to bring home with you. stroopwafels, if not fresh, are all going to be more or less the same. the magic is in the immediate, hot, freshly made ones, and this place delivers. listen to their instructions and keep it flat for a bit, and don't indulge until it's cooled a tad. i burned my lips so you don't have to. you're in the busy street of the market, and so once you have your wafel, mosey around the corner with your coffee (get prior! drip at scandanavian embassy is perfect!) and find a bench to people watch. perfect

Located in Albert Cuyp Markt, Rudi's Stroopwafels will stand out amongst all the other food vendors with their long lines. Stroopwafels should be on every visitor's list of foods to try and there will be a lot of places that sell them. But out of everything we tried, Rudi's was my favorite because of the price and freshness. They take credit cards! Don't let the long lines deter you because it moves pretty fast. The workers are making one thing only so they can keep churning fresh stroopwafels. For the fresh ones, you can choose to have it half-dipped in chocolate but I wanted to try the original to taste it as it is. So good, especially when it's warm! It's got a slight crunchy but it's also soft at the same time. Try your best to hold it horizontal or else the caramel in between will slowly ooze out from the bottom. You can also buy pre-packaged stroopwafels to bring home as gifts! 3 packs for 10 euros is a pretty decent deal and if you want to present it nicely or protect it from being smashed, you can also purchase a tin can for each pack. Makes a great souvenir for friends and family!

Made fresh right in front of you. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great place for a quick snack when checking out the different vendors in this lively outdoor market!

Freshly made on the spot. You wait in line, but the line moves along, then order and pay at the counter. Plain stroop, with chocolate, or premade tins to go. We did plain so we could really taste the flavors. After you pay you then tell the waffle guy which you ordered and he makes it for you while you watch. The staff are super fun and friendly. They make you feel special when ordering. They also advise you how to eat so you don't get burnt and so you don't drip the hot caramel off the sides of the waffle. A necessary treat when at the street market.

There were so many places selling fresh stroopwafels and we tried several of them - all were delicious. But the best stroopwafel we had in Amsterdam was from Rudi's! They have a stall in the market (Google Maps led us directly to them), not a storefront. There was a decent line when we got there, but the guys here know what they're doing - the line moved very quickly. We got one of each of the fresh stroopwafels (original and chocolate coated, which is the original with half of it coated in chocolate). They make it right in front of you and despite being super busy, are so much fun to chat with as well. Being they're made fresh, they are served hot and gooey - they do not skimp on the caramel at all! Eating it on the go was messy, but so worth it! They were also the cheapest fresh stroopwafels we had and they accept cash and card. I wish we could have had them again before leaving the city, but between our ticketed events/sightseeing and their open days/hours, it didn't work out. But this will definitely be on our list when we're back!

My girlfriend enjoyed it more than I did, though she still only rated it a 7/10. After trying several Stroopwafels around the city, I think I would say Rudi's was my personal favorite! There was a fairly long line but it moves at a decent pace, so don't worry! They have ready-to-go packaged stroopwafels for souvenirs, or maybe extras for yourself if you liked them so much! There was a deal to buy 3 of those packages for 10 EUR, or you could buy the tin can packaging for 6.99 EUR and one packaged stroopwafel. For fresh options, you can pick between original or a chocolate covered stroopwafel. I wanted the original to taste it as it is, and WOW it is so delicious fresh! The outside wafer is crisp, and the inside is oozy and warm. They warn you to keep the stroopwafel flat, as any turning or flipping will cause the filling and the stroopwafel to fall over! Would come back the next time I visit Amsterdam!

Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend if you're near Albert Cuyp market to stop here. The stroopwafels are fabulous. They are made to the order. Warm and fresh with a delicious caramel sauce center. You can add chocolate on the outside but I preferred the plain. They also sell little bags in two sizes you can take home or as a souvenir. They taste good even when you rewarm them later. This is not a tourist trap. It is also very well priced. The line moves quickly and the family that runs the space is super sweet and patient.

When in Amsterdam, one must get stroopwafels --but not just any stroopwafel, get the original handmade ones at Rudi's. It's the most simple and perfect thing you can have. We arrived early on a Saturday morning, but they don't open until 11am. We waited to be the first customer as a line was quickly forming. There's only two options: original or chocolate as I went for the original (€2.50) and picked up some souvenir ones in a cute tin to bring home. You can watch them make your stroopwafel as soon as you order it --super hot and fresh. The caramel filling in the middle wasn't too sweet either, which was a pleasant surprise. I could have so many of these, but we had to save our stomachs for more food later. There are many other stroopwafel spots, but THIS is the one you need to get. Best stroopwafel ever!

I made a huge mess but it was worth it for the deliciousness! They also sell packs of smaller stroopwafels which make the perfect souvenir/gift. I picked up a few packs to bring back home. Had to try fresh stroopwafels on my first visit to Amsterdam, so I opted to stop by Rudi's Original Stroopwafels during my visit to Albert Cuyp Market. There was a wait as it is quite popular. But, the line went fast though. The employees are super efficient in what they do. They are quick to take orders and have the stroopwafels made in little to no time. The employees are very friendly and crack jokes. One even kindly took the time to pose for a photo as he saw me taking a photo of it being handed to me. As for the stroopwafels itself, it's big. Probably bigger than the size of my hand. They do sell smaller ones in packaging to take home, but the ones they make fresh are certainly bigger in size. My friend and I were full from our brunch, so we opted to share one. There is truly nothing like eating it fresh/on the spot! It came out warm, the caramel sauce spilled from the sides with each bite. It wasn't too sweet. That first impression was memorable.

Made fresh on the spot, the waffles are crispy and the caramel gooey and just the right amount of sweetness. They keep it simple, no fancy crazy sprinkles and fruit - just original and chocolate. Ordered: Original Stroopwafel (~€3) Aya's take: My first day in Amsterdam would certainly not be complete if I didn't have a stroopwafel! I had Rudi's on my list and when I was walking through this market and saw the line, I immediately joined. The Stroopwafel is freshly baked and made right in front of you which adds to the experience. The delicious caramel filling was warm, rich, and gooey. It got a bit messy but it was so good that it was gone within minutes. Definitely worth trying!

This was by far my favorite fresh Stroopwafels. We sampled a grand total of three bakeries during our trip to Amsterdam. There is something addicting about the texture and taste of Rudi's. Also this is a family run business offering a personal touch to to your experience. Great prices too. Cash or credit is accepted. Because the prices were dramatically lower than you'd find in Central, I purchased a 3-pack as gifts and one fresh original for myself to enjoy. The trailer is located within a farmers market setting. They have line ropes set up, because this place is worth the hype. Our luck was we went during the off season on a weekday, we didn't have to wait too long. The sad thing is, after sampling other places I kept wishing we had more time to go back so I could order the chocolate fresh stroopwafel to compare the original. To those of you going, go there as much as you can!

Stopped by Rudi's located in the street market for Stroopwafels. This was my first time trying Stroopwafels and it was SO GOOD! Due to their popularity, there was a bit of a queue, but they were efficient and kept it moving quickly. The men working the truck were funny and full of character, keeping guests entertained as they made their selections. I decided on an original stroopwafel, and I also purchased a few of their prepackaged ones to take home and share as gifts. The original stroopwafel was warm, sweet, and delicious. The caramel in the center was also warm and runny (careful not to let it drip on you!!). The pre packaged ones were also very fresh, and a hit with everyone we shared them to. Highly recommend this location if you're looking for a great quality stroopwafel in Amsterdam.

Family-owned local stand right inside of Albert Cuyp Market. They have been making stroopwafels for ages and it definitely shows. Everything is perfectly made and the wafels come out piping hot. We got one of the original and one of the chocolate (tip: if you get the chocolate one, start from the uncovered side and work your way to the chocolate side, allowing it to solidify). The owners were super friendly and they sell their stroopwafels in packages as well. Highly recommend stopping by here for a taste!

Friendly service- its like a fresh thin waffle cone with chewy texture and caramel in the middle- its good and I can cross it off my must try in Amsterdam list now - I am not a huge fan though but feel really food about finding the Original !

Amazing, freshly-made stroopwafels! Find this little trailer in the market. Walk past *any other ones you see* and make a bee-line for Rudi's. You can pay cash or card and he literally cooks the wafel parts and assembles them while you watch. For 0.5 € more, you can get 1/2 the wafel painted with chocolate!

We met Rudi and his son, tried both types of stroopwafels and oh my gosh these are aaaamazing!

Rudi's originals is a classic well known stroopwafel place. Personally I believe these are the freshest and most reasonably priced ones around Amsterdam. They also have a deal for prepackaged ones if you want to bring some back as gifts for loved ones. Call my simple but I'd say skip the chocolate dip and just go full OG plain stroopwafel. You can really taste the richness in the Carmel flavor filling. And the crunchiness from the waffle when it hardens from cooling.

This is an outside booth at a farmers market, there was a line but it moved very quickly. It seemed like a dad and son run business, everyone was very welcoming. We got the original stroop waffle with chocolate. I liked that the man making the waffle took my directions to add little caramel to the inside, it was very tasty and fresh. The only one I had and I like it. What did I get I went twice, the first time I got the original and the second time I got it with chocolate. It is freshly made and can't get better than that. It is nice and warm. Environment This is a food truck and it is on the albert Cuypstraat market. There are many little shops. There is one standing table available for you to stand and eat. Other than that you eat on the street. Niceness of the staff The guy making the waffle was super nice. Though he was higher up in his truck. He still managed to have conversations with me and everyone around. Dollar It was 2 for the regular and 2.50 for the chocolate one. Yes? I already went 2 different times. I would def go again.

I don't know about "original" stroopwafels but if the story told to us by the tour guide is true, then they're pretty darned old. The guy running the place got the business from his father. And his father was here back in the old days. Warm, melty, gooey, DELICIOUS. I don't know how well these transport, so maybe this isn't where you go to get stroopwafels to bring home. The quality speaks for itself, and the prices are very cheap. Despite the fame, we were pleasantly surprised to be met with no wait upon arrival, perhaps due to us getting there at an off hour as the market was starting to close. To eat, I ordered the Chocolate Original, priced at just 2 euros. My friends decided to go for the Original Stroopwafel (without chocolate), priced at I believe 1.5 euros. Freshly baked, I found my stroopwafel to be quite delicious and satisfying. These things are pretty big and definitely a bit rich. I wasn't quite able to finish the whole stroopwafel, but I would certainly return again. If looking for a traditional Dutch dessert, definitely pay this place a visit. It is pretty historical.

Don't be intimidated by the lines. It goes fast and you can see the dessert being made by friendly employees.
