Rudy Royale

I recently had dinner at Rudy Royale and it was an absolute treat from start to finish. Every dish that came out of the kitchen felt crafted with care and Southern flair. 🍝 The Short Rib Ragu: The tagliatelle-style pasta with hearty meat sauce was rich, savory, and perfectly cooked — every bite was packed with flavor. It had that “slow-simmered all day” taste that makes you want to savor it slowly. 🥧 The Chicken Pot Pie: A showstopper! The golden, flaky pastry lid was crisp and buttery, giving way to a creamy, hearty filling with tender chicken and veggies. It’s true Southern comfort in a bowl. 🍌 The Dessert: The banana pudding (or what I like to call a little glass of heaven) was velvety, topped with whipped cream and those classic vanilla wafers — the perfect sweet finish to the meal. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, with a warm wood-accented interior that made it feel upscale but comfortable. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. And here’s a tip for future visitors — be sure to say hi to Chef Landice Simmons! You can tell the heart and soul behind each dish comes from someone who genuinely loves what they do.

It was our first night in Charleston and we wanted to make sure we had some good old southern fried chicken! The photos of the food looked good, but the reality was even better. Truly some of the best fried chicken we’ve ever had-perfectly juicy meat and crispy crunch. The cole slaw and cucumber salad were the perfect complements to balance it. But more than the food, the highlight of our evening was our server, Karly. She was so friendly and helpful, the true definition of southern hospitality. She helped give suggestions from the menu, checked in on us often, and even gave us a complimentary dessert since we were celebrating our anniversary. We truly enjoyed our evening thanks to her.

Hands down the best Nashville hot chicken I’ve ever had. I might have shed a few tears at the table. The short rib ragù was equally flavorful and memorable. Our server was fantastic, keeping my water filled as I powered through the heat and making sure our little one had everything they needed. The atmosphere was modern and inviting, making the whole experience even better.

Good prices and portion sizes. The She Crab Bisque and Watermelon over whipped ricotta were amazing. Great place to grab a bite to eat on the patio with the dog and people watch.

Sat outside and it was a great spot for people watching! We ordered the fried chicken (the half chicken and split it-- it was plenty of food for 2!). The eggs rolls were delicious and the deviled eggs were good as well. Our server was attentive and friendly. Great drink menu. Good spot if you're craving fried food.

This was our first visit to rudy royale. Restaurant was spacious and clean, our waitress Annie was very pleasant and helpful. We were there on a Tuesday night and there was no wait. We got some friend pickles to start and then had the general royale chicken bowl, Cesar salad, chicken sandwich and short rib Alfredo. It was all hot and delicious! We will be back.

Me and my friends had a delicious meal at the Rudy Royale. We got the chicken pot pie and the flounder and three sides to all share between four people. It was plenty of food and all very delicious!

They serve a good drink, but then it goes downhill a bit. Service was ok. The mac and cheese is a bit soupy, but nonetheless very flavorable. The Nashville fried chicken- our waitress described the heat as 7 out of 10; I put it at 4 at best. I felt like I was eating more breading than chicken, which is never good. The sauce was oily, and they somehow made the chicken dry, perhaps overdone. The biscuit was dense and bland. Mashed potatoes were seasoned well.

Came for happy hour. They have lanazul for house with is decent so nice to be able to get a decent tequila for happy hour price. We also ordered the chicken tenders, fried pickles, and Mac n cheese. The chicken tenders were some of the best I've had and came with a yummy honey mustard. Originally thought the Mac n cheese was average but ate the whole thing, so clearly quite good. Fried pickles were delicious also. Husband thought they'd like them crispier, but I thought they were on point. He had a rainbow sherbet beer that he enjoyed and I had my tequila drink that was delicious. We got a side of the Nashville hot and It was quite hot so use sparingly. But the whole experience was everything we wanted. Pic includes half the tenders that come for happy hour as hubby was a little too excited. Tony was friendly and great. Cute place. Def recommend.

Walking from the Charleston Market back to my cruise ship, we got hungry. Didn't like some of the choices to eat along the Charleston Market. On the opposite side of the Customs House, we found this place that had fried chicken and a large corn bread skilet. Was greeted promptly and seated. Wasn't long before our server came to greet us and took our order. The inside looked like old time Charleston water front tavern. Ordered the two pice dark meat fried chicken that came with pickled cucumber slice salad. The cucumber was like fresh sliced cucumber, with a pickle sauce. Little spicy. Enjoyed the fried chicken. Came hot, crispy and juicy. OMG. You have to have the corn bread. Warning.. it looks like it was backed in a small cast iron skilet which can feed four. Comes with honey butter and jam. Crunchy outside and moist inside. Pros: Large, crispy corn bread and moist. Fried chicken is crispy and juicy. Cons: Cucumber salad was a little too vinegar for me. But the cucumber was fresh and crunchy. Maybe use the vinegar last minute before serving. Would I go back? Yes. Would like to try the three piece fried chicken which is two breast and a wing. The breast might be juicy also.

Girls night out at Rudy Royale was the perfect mix of good food and great company. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and every dish had that southern comfort touch. Chef Macready knew exactly what I wanted when I said, "chef's choice" - the Short Rib Ragù was perfection like always. Here's a rundown of what we ordered: - Blackberry Fizz: blackberry, mint, lime, sparkling water - Deviled Eggs: pork rinds, paprika - Egg Rolls: brisket, potato, pimento cheese, Alabama white sauce - Tuna Ceviche: lime, chipotle aoili, pico, tostada - Filet Of Beef: potato cake, asparagus, buttermilk gravy, chimichurri - Short Rib Ragu: fettuccine, San Marzano glace, pecorino - Crispy Garlic Cracked Potatoes: sesame seed, fried onion, dried chili - Crème Brûlé Cheesecake (seasonal): apple filling It's more than their popular fried chicken. We came here for a Sunday brunch on a late afternoon. We had a couple stragglers but Ashley was very patient with us and checking in. We got sat in kind of a semi private room and there was another large group in there so it got a bit loud. I think it would've been nice to sit in the main dining room near the windows. We really enjoyed the cinnamon roll appetizer, the hot chicken, chicken with waffles and those sweet and crispy potatoes! My friend didn't enjoy her Bloody Mary bc she found the mix to have too much garlic but powered through it. Ashley did offer some remedies but did tell us it was homemade so it couldn't be modified. I also didn't love the drinks, thought they were pretty standard and the NY sour was a bit too sweet for my liking but again that's just my preference. Service and food overall was good! Thank you Ashley for putting up with us!

An elegant brunch spot on east Bay Street! I throughly enjoyed the live music and mimosas for my Sunday brunch! We got the crab dip and potatoes as an appetizer! I loved the potatoes, they had a general tso spin on them! So yummy! The chicken and waffles were delicious, I liked the flavors of the fried chicken. It was fried to perfection and the waffle was the perfect amount of sweet! Definitely stop here for your next brunch trip!

We loved this place! From the Crab Dip to the Fried Chicken, it is all delicious!! Their potatoes are very unique and insanely good! We went there on our own and on a Culinary Tour as well. We both really liked everything that we tried. The Brussels Sprouts we delicious too!

Update: I did reach out to management to let them know about my experience and they were very quick to respond and very understanding. So give them a try! If I would have written my review the first time we went which was on a weekend back in November , then I would give it 5 stars. The meal I had then was delicious, it was the filet special with whipped potatoes and asparagus for 28$. The filet was a delicious, juicy, flavorful and beautifully cooked. My husband got the swordfish and he loved it as well. The vibe inside was great and the service was quick and friendly. This time, I'm switching to 3 stars and mainly for the food. The service and ambience are still great! We had some friends in town so we decided to come back on a Thursday. They did not have the filet special and I was disappointed. But I decided to try the chicken pot pie. The chicken pot pie looked pretty , but flavor was lacking. There was way too much chicken and I even bit into a small piece of bone which I had to spit out. That made me not want to eat the rest but I still tried. The potato and vegetable pieces were also cut too big for such a small dish. The flavor was bland and it was nothing memorable that I would want to get again. For it being 25$ I was very disppointed. My husband got the 2 piece dark meat fried chicken. He said it was overly breaded and there was not much chicken inside. The potatoes he had were decent. But yeah we kind of left hungey and not satisfied. But again only for the food, service and ambience still good. Kind if disappointing chicken meals for a chicken focused place. If you do come here I recommend coming Friday or Saturday night when the have the specials, then it's worth it. Otherwise ...meh

Portions | spices | services Portions: Bring your appetite and ensure you know how big the appetizer dishes are. We got Brussels sprouts, and there's enough to feed a snack to a table of four easily, so we underestimated the size of the appetizer. Additionally, my dish was large, and I underestimated how much rice and chicken they would give me, so I needed a doggy bag afterward. Spices: The spice combination on all the dishes is pretty good. Nothing's super unique, but everything is paired pretty well. Overall, I would choose the chef's pairing. I would not do anything too unique; I would trust the standard menu. Service: We had solid service. Everybody there was super happy, helpful, timely, and professional, which made the experience. Our server had multiple tables, but even with her having about eight tables, we never had to wait for water, drinks, or anything. Everything came pretty quickly, so high marks for service. Pro tip: There's a substantial area at their bar, so even if you don't have a reservation, you can still get a meal or a drink. Pro tip: the space is very large. The space is deceptive from the outside because it's a small area. There's the initial room and there's a side room which is pretty massive.

honestly i can't stop thinking about this food two days later. wow the mac and cheese was incredible, the mornay sauce they use it in is really top tier. i'm literally going to to try recreate the recipe because i loved it so much. the easer salad was great, though i had to ask for extra sauce for my liking. the fried chicken i added was amazing, it makes me wonder what they use to fry the chicken. overall, my friends and i agreed this was a great stop for a birthday dinner. can't wait to try this place again. it was very beautiful inside for photos and service was good.

Came here with a big group and we have the best time! Food and drinks were delicious, waiter was fab and made the night so much fun. The espresso martini is a must get here!

This is a solid southern fair restaurant in the popular King Street of Charleston. We decided to eat here after three unsuccessful attempts to eat at three didn't Gullah Geechee establishments and this place came recommended as southern food. First of all, this is a properly run restaurant and where they have professional staff trained to deal with customers. The restaurant is also spacious and with nice sitting which is a plus for a tourist coming from out of town. The place is fully air-conditioned. We started with cornbread and mac & cheese. The cornbread was good. The mac & cheese sauce was addicting. For mains, I had the fried chicken and my husband had fried chicken sandwich. Both are really delicious as well. Portions were big for the cornbread and the chicken sandwich. I would recommend this place if you are on King Street and craving southern food.

We stopped here for lunch and I am so glad we did! What a cute place inside with so much seating and nice decor! This place is nice for a big group and for date night! We were seated as soon as we walked in and our waitress was kind and attentive! I decided to order their mocktail and it was so good! My husband got a Negroni and he enjoyed his drink as well! For lunch I got a burger and he got the salmon burger. Both came with a cucumber salad on the side and he ordered a side of fries! Everything was delicious!!! I really recommend coming here and getting you something to delicious to eat!

Meh...I think a one and done for us, too many things made this holiday meal with family feel stressed. Service was extremely slow, 20 min for a drink, 25 for appetizers and most everything was very bland. The table we were sat at was very unnerving with a poor traffic pattern...wait staff from bar, front door and hostess seating, bathroom, and kitchen. Our table was crossed by every one of these paths. Our waiter was very nice, but circumstances were against him.

While this place is in a decent area & aesthetically pleasing, We were let down :( visiting Charleston, this is somewhere we made a reservation in advance with high hopes. The service was, seemingly, at the ease of the server. She was awesome when she did come around. We had a problem with the crab dip coming out cold & I requested another server nearby to grab ours & she was VERY flippant. Our server was apologetic and served us a fresh warm batch; but I don't think the other server ever relayed the message. The cocktails are ok. And now, the chicken..... the chicken itself was very good. My friend ordered the honey sea salt fried chicken sandwich and was singing its praises all the way home; however the Nashville hot fried chicken was.... Hot. I know that sounds stupid but as someone that prides themself in appreciating spice, their sandwich is inedible. I took two bites and that was it. The flavor of their Nashville hot sauce was complex and layered - soo close to delicious except it sets your entire jaw area on fire. From one bite. It genuinely tastes like there is Carolina Reaper in there. That normally wouldn't be an issue if they were up front. Our server warned us that it was very spicy and gets sent back. I've heard that before at other establishments and didn't have a problem. This Nashville hot is different and be warned. I paid $18 for a sandwich I took two bites out of because I was not about to send it back, but writing this makes me wish I would've asked to speak to the person that concocted the sauce.

We had a great Sunday dinner at Rudy Royale to close out a bachelor weekend. The staff were very accommodating to our party of 10+ and provided us a very thorough dinner service. The party had a mix of items, from the legendary chicken sandwich, classic chicken pot pie, general Rudy's chicken, and even a really nicely executed salmon entree. I would without a doubt recommend this iconic piece of the Charleston food scene to any and everyone (especially groups or a party looking for a variety of options) Our server Megan, took great care of us and we would certainly come back from Charlotte to dine with her again.

The fried pickle chips were delish!! The whipped potatoes were also a fav. Very nice waiter, and the place was packed. Loved the vibe inside.

This was a new spot for me and I absolutely loved it. It's right in the heart of the market and gallery area downtown charleston( which means the whole arena is walkable and there's plenty of parking garages to choose from). The staff was pleasant and the atmosphere fine. There was nothing about the interior that wowed me but it was nice! The food and drinks on the other hand were great. I started off with the Halloween cocktail, The Orb Weaver soley because it reminded me of Sloan from the book Butcher and Blackbird. The tequila was on the heavy side so if you like strong pours this is for you. The cornbread was fine but the biscuits and gravy was delicious!! The biscuit was extra fluffy and paired well with the gravy. I got a side of bacon with this too. My friend ordered the Nashville hot chicken strips and said they actually taste like true hot chicken. (Too many places in Charleston are claiming they make hot chicken and it's nothing like the original flavor.) Overall I enjoyed my experience here and would consider going back in the future. If you've never been I recommend checking it out.

We sat outside in the hustle and bustle of Charleston. This is seated in a touristy area, but what part of Charlestons' main drags aren't?! The food was great. Our server was so kind. Prices are reasonable at around $20 a meal. Try the short beef ragu at around $30. You will love it!

Very nice atmosphere. We were seated on time for our reservation. The waiter was extremely upbeat and friendly. However service was extremely slow. Not as attentive to empty water glasses, long wait for dinner to arrive, we waited quite some time for our bill. Perhaps they are understaffed. The crab dip is delicious and would go back just for that alone.

We celebrated a family birthday here and it was awesome. Erica, our server, was amazing and attentive when the drinks were getting low. The food was amazing, my favourite was the whipped potatoes. The salmon was good, but the fennel salad gave it a weird after taste so I ended up only eating the salmon and the sweet potatoe purée. A few people at our table got the chicken sandwich and chicken pot pie and raved about them being delicious. It was a Monday, so the restaurant wasn't too crowded/loud.

I took some friends from out of town here because I had tried it before and remember the chicken being some of the best in town. The food isn't going to be you've ever had, but it's a good well rounded affordable menu. I wasn't impressed this time around as I ordered a simple wedge salad and it was drowning in ranch. The onions were also way too sweet- like strangley sweet as if they shouldn't have been that way. I will not be ordering that again. I will say I would give them another chance because my first visit wasn't bad and I still tell everyone I meet that they have the best Bloody Mary in Charleston- complete with a chicken slider, bacon and fried oyster. It is a meal in itself!!!!

Excellent stop for lunch. Lots of Birthday parties and Bachelorette Lunches. We sat in the bar area, and we were happy for the ice water and air conditioning. We got the Deviled Eggs to go with our cocktails and then shared the Chicken & Waffles and Mac & Cheese. Great spot, not too busy at 11:30 on Saturday. Good service, attentive but not pushy. Give it a try! Perfect.

This is a really cool place and a great lunch option. The bar was beautiful and there's a ton of seating options. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich because chicken is their thing and it was good! I have to say I think it's a little expensive considering it doesn't come with the side, well besides cucumbers (which were tasty and refreshing!), but the sandwich itself was really big. I also thought the beer was a little expensive, but for being in Charleston not terrible. The comeback sauce that's served with the French fries is delish! I'd like to come back and try other things. Our waiter, Raymond, was a gem, and hilarious! Such a character and we had a great time chatting with him. He was really attentive, too. I'd give this place a shot if you have a chance!

As part of the Charleston Culinary Tour our group ate here for our third stop. We were sat at a long table that was slightly offset from the larger dining spaces. A musician played his guitar in the larger section and we were able to still hear easily enough. The staff served us chicken sliders which were very delicious. The roll, while looking like it would overpower the chicken, was perfectly fluffy and a nice contrast to the crunchy savory chicken. I also had a cocktail here which was also very good. The waitstaff was prompt, fast, and informative. They stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. They also gave great recommendations on drinks!

If you're looking for an amazing meal downtown, off East Bay, look no further than Rudy Royal.  I had a romantic date with my wife the other night and everything was SO good.  It was our first time eating there, the server was so helpful, she explained all the dishes and answered our picky food questions.   We started with some amazing summertime cocktails, I got the Margarita Royal and my wife loved that they served mocktails.  They are known for their fried chicken but upon sitting down, I quickly realized that there was SO much more to explore on the menu.  We started with the Tuna Ceviche and CornBread (OMG)! Then we moved on to entrees; I went with the Tempura FriedFlounder; it was absolutely delicious. The texture was so good, and it came served with a lobster sauce that made it all the better! My wife went with the Fried Chicken sandwich, add Pimento cheese, Lawd was it good! We tried the mint watermelon with whipped ricotta and olive oil, it was a great side that was not too heavy with all the fried food.   I have a thing about banana pudding and if it's on the menu then I MUST order it.  I have had lots of them in my life and this one was one of the best, served in a mason cup layered with Nillawafers, custard, and whipped crème, I wish I had one right now! I look forward to returning and trying their brunch as that menu looked just as amazing as the dinner menu.  If you're looking for a new spot to try out, give Rudy Royal a shot, you will not be disappointed.  -- Gustavo Serrano

The food was good but nothing spectacular. Our favorites were the honey salted chicken strips with cucumber salad. We also really liked the blackberry Bellini.

Came here on a Friday night to have some dinner and ordered a corn bread, fried spicy shrimps, Mac and cheese, and half of fried chicken. Service was quick. The fried chicken was very crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. (A better deal to get versus getting 1 plate of dark and 1 plate of white separately) The spicy shrimps had a nice kick to it. The corn bread was good that we got 2. It was warm and moist, not crumbly. The side butter added to the bread. The space is good for a date or just hanging out with some friends. And they take reservations.

Ruby Royale accommodated our very large group and took wonderful care of us. The apps were delicious, and everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. We made our reservation for 12, and ended up with 14. We deeply appreciate the accommodations and recommend this restaurant if you are in Charleston!

First, they treated us completely as the invisible and ignored. They made us standing for 10min at front, although the restaurant was not busy at all and there were 3 hostesses. They didn't greet or excuse for the delay. They even took a couple in who came in later than us. I was going to leave but finally got sat. Foods weren't good or any special either. And who asks for credit card transaction fee separately these days!??

This is a sort of "up-scale" fried chicken place. It is nice to dine in, feels very comfortable. I will say, the chicken did not knock it out of the park. It wasn't bad but the batter had a strange bitter flavor, and the chicken didn't taste super super fresh. Honestly I've had better at Bojangles. But the restaurant is still nice! Sides were good.

Honey sea salt chicken was fabulous. Very accommodating service. Overall great experience.

If go sip bite and taste everything was a restaurant this would be on the list I'm kinda obsessed! Their specialty is "Chicken & Cocktails" and they do them both oh so well! Pro tip: Get the Honey & Sea salt option and a side of the Nashville Hot you're welcome. I would have to say they probably have the best fried chicken that I've had in quite some time. This joint is absolute YUM. We arrived late afternoon famished after traveling from FL and were taken care of by Becca. We ordered some specialty cocktails, a spicy shrimp appetizer and some chicken entrees. The food was great, cocktails tasty and Becca was a sweetheart checking in on us often.

We had lunch at the Rudy Royale. Real chill ambiance with comfortable seating. Our server Scott was attentive and extremely pleasant. We ordered Delicious salmon sandwich, flounder sandwich, chicken and waffle with fried pickles appetizer. And Food has great flavor and seasoning. My wife had the chicken tender they were the TN hot. I had to wipe my nose several times but I'm a whimp when it comes to heat/ spicy food. The crispy garlic cracked potatoes were good, warm cooked potatoes topped with sweet garlic flavoring sauce. The cornbread was delicious served with honey butter and strawberry jam. That was eaten quickly. First time trying fried pickles they were enjoyable served with their in-house dipping sauce. I would return to try the royale cheese in honor of the motion picture Pulp Fiction.

They didn't have Dr Pepper, but they did have chicken tenders and frickles. The tall guy should marry Ms. Axmann. The service was good, the ambiance was good. The atmosphere was real chill. They should have more people in here. Only complaint is no Dr Pepper. The chicken tenders were hot. The fries were salty. Mrs Roesler likes the salad.

The eggs Benedict was super yummy. I had the avocado and salmon Benedict. My friends and I are from california and Karmyn was incredibly attentive, kind, patient, and hard working.

We were downtown yesterday, I needed some coffee from the market and decided that while we were down there to grab some lunch. We walked by a couple of places, looking at their menus pasted outside, and when we came across Rudy Royale, we felt like it would hit the spot. Upon entering you, the place opens up with beautiful exposed brick walls. The hostess was not friendly at all. She didn't greet us, never asked how can I help you, she just stared at us, blank. I was still friendly, smiled, and said "hello, just two please". Another much more friendly lady seated us. Our waitress, Megan, was super pleasant, greeted us with a smile, and instantly made us feel welcomed. I ordered one of their drink specials, blackberry mojito, and it just hit that refreshing spot, especially since it wad so hot outside after walking the market. We ordered food and it did not disappoint. I got the Arugula salad, which came with strawberries, feta, and a champagne vinegarette, I also added the shredded chicken for some protein. It was probably the best salad I've had, so fresh. That champagne vinegarette was amazing. Corey got the short rib sandwich. It was so good. The meat was cooked perfectly. And the au jus just made the sandwich even better. We also got a side of crispy garlic cracked potatoes. And oh my! That was the best way to fix potatoes. I wish the side was bigger they we so good! Overall it was a good experience and we will definitely go back.

Service was great. Appetizers and dinner were delicious. The fried chicken is heavenly!!! The only complaint is that a new banana pudding recipe needs to be created. It wasn't very good.

I originally had a reservation for later in the day but was heading in that direction earlier. I called the restaurant, and they were so accommodating and got me in right away. From that moment to when I left everything was amazing. Karmyn, my server, was attentive, helpful, and very pleasant. I ordered a bunch of dishes to try because I couldn't decide, and it was all fantastic. I especially liked the cornbread and deviled egg appetizers. When it was time to box everything up, Karmyn labeled all the boxes and even added in a sweet surprise (dessert). Thank you for a lovely experience. I highly recommend Ruby Royale!

We were so glad they accepted reservations because they were 14 of us! So glad they put us in a separate room so that it was just us 14 people. The place is beautiful. Clean bathrooms too. Their 2 pc chicken have 2 flavors, nashville got or honey sea salt. I loved their nashville hot bcz it tasted the closest one to Hattie B's in Nashville.

Brunch at Rudy Royale was incredible I don't know how it's taken me so long to visit this chicken + cocktail joint located right on East Bay Street, but now that I've gone it won't be long before I'm back. Favorite bites/sips of the visit: Chicken & Waffles -- their fried chicken is what they're most well-known for & I can see why! Fried to crispy perfection with tender, juicy meat, it paired perfectly with the sweet, fluffy waffle that accompanied it Espresso Martini -- garnished with a marshmallow & made using vodka AND tequila, this is now on my list of top 5 espresso martinis in Charleston Deviled Eggs -- uniquely topped with a pork rind, I easily could've eaten two plates of these & actually had my husband try to recreate them the next day (they were not the same) Other highlights: Bloody Mary -- topped with a fried chicken slider & all the fixins, this one is an appetizer in and of itself! Oyster Shooter -- made with jalapeño tequila (my fave) & cucumber brine, this was my first EVER oyster shooter so it will forever hold a place in my heart Service was fast and friendly & ambiance was great/the space is very large and accommodating! They also have a private event room that closes off from the rest of the restaurant

I was in Charleston for a wedding when eight of us decided to dine out on a Saturday evening. Trying to snag a last minute reservation anywhere in Charleston for a large group on a weekend is tough. We were super pleased that Rudy Royale could accommodate us. The restaurant on East Bay is in a prime location for carousing around the famous market area. Finding a parking place can be a headache. Rudy's has been open for about two years and one of their signatures is their fried chicken. As someone who loves pot pies, I had to give theirs a try. It was unique, hearty and delish. A side of piping hot fries sealed the deal. Phillip, our server, was super helpful and responsive to our needs and whims. Great service, fair prices and tasty food. So glad we found Rudy's!

I recently traveled to South Carolina for my 10th anniversary. I had been told over the years that fried chicken in the south is a must so Rudy Royale was my first exposure to it. I have to say that their fried chicken is the best I've ever had. I've had the best that California has to offer but Rudy Royale is on another level. Not only did I eat my plate but my wife ordered the whole chicken and I helped eat half of hers as well. In addition to the food, our waitress was nice as well. Overall a great place to dine and have a drink.

Ideal location right at the heart of downtown! The best southern comfort food, friendly staff and fast service. When you eat here you feel like you're eating with family, I've eaten both with friends and alone here and been pleased every time!

Top notch service and excellent fried chicken! Family friendly restaurant but also good for groups and dates. Location is convenient to the historic district and very walkable. We tried the warm seafood dip. It was heavy on the cream cheese and a little light on the seafood in my opinion. I ordered the two piece dark meal with the original seasoning and our server brought samples of the honey sea salt and Nashville hot sauce for me to try. Dipping the chicken in the salted honey was the way to go! I like that their menu is small so they can focus on what they do right-- fried chicken. Definitely recommend Rudy Royale!

Sometimes it takes something special to get one out of a food funk. You know, that place where you crave something you can't identify, much less find. Sometimes that place is right in your backyard, under your nose so to speak, and you just stumble across it by accident only to realize you have found utopia! That is exactly what is on the menu at Ruby Royale. That one page menu might look small but it is HUGE on flavor! And the service is truly that as well. (Few places have I been where the dining room manager will fetch my license plate number from my car in the parking garage while I dine in order for me to be able to enjoy my dinner without worrying about a surprise ticket at the end of my meal!) That said, our table service was impeccable and the food was prepared to perfection. You may be thinking $40 for a whole fried chicken is pricey, but there are other places in town with bigger names and smaller chickens - both in flavor and size - that will charge you much more. Topping off this meal was the relatively quiet atmosphere, window seating and easy access for a downtown restaurant. If you're looking for a place to have a great meal, you just found it.

The food and the cocktails were all incredible and flavorful! There wasn't a single item we got that was disappointing. Only recommendation I have is presentation of the corn bread shouldn't be flipped upside down, it's beautiful as is. Shown in the last picture.

Came here for a family dinner with six people. We started with the eggrolls and corn bread which were amazing. I got the two piece dark meat fried chicken with the honey drizzle. Was extremely impressed as the chicken was cooked perfectly. Wouldn't change anything with what we had. This was by far the best fried chicken i've ever had and that's a hard feat to beat. Cucumber salad was great and had an amazing level of acidity. The biscuits were perfect aswell. Very impressed and i've been working in the restaurant industry for years and this was genuinely exceptional.
